Note: Here is the first-hand account of one senior Dada.
Namaskar,
I first came in contact with Baba in Jamalpur - the year was around 1961 or '62. There were classes going on. Ac Dasarath ji and Dada Nityananda ji were teaching classes; and, on occasion, Sadguru Baba was also leading a class. Dasarath ji was teaching in English; Dada Nityananda was teaching in Hindi; and, Baba was giving class in three languages: Bangla, Hindi, and English. On this particular occasion described below, Baba was speaking on Ananda Marga philosophy related with His book, Idea and Ideology.

I was skeptical about spirituality
At that time I was not thinking that Baba is Parama Purusa or Bhagavan. I was there to learn philosophy, and I thought this was a unique opportunity to attend a class given directly by one philosopher.
Up to that point in my life, I hadn’t attended a class by any other philosopher. I had never gotten the opportunity to learn directly from philosophers like Marx, Kapil, the great rishis, or other thinkers. I had read 18 volumes of Marx's literature - and was greatly influenced by communism. Due to that, I was skeptical about spirituality. I was in the midst of testing how far spirituality is real. And I was thinking that Baba was a great philosopher, and I am attending His class regularly. That was my feeling those days.
Stolen watch
Then one incident made a deep impression in my mind. Witnessing that incident, I realised that, "Yes, here is a man who really has some spiritual power and who can find out the inner secret of the human mind." Now let me tell you what happened.
One of the class attendees lost his watch while he was taking his bath. Thereafter a complaint was lodged with Abhedananda ji who then informed Baba about the theft.
Baba told, "What can I do - report it to the police."
The afternoon passed and that evening, in the usual way, Baba came and was sitting with His disciples.
He called one margii, "Come over here."
The margii immediately became fearful, and went close to Baba.
Baba said, "Take out what is in your pocket."
The margii hesitated.
Thief got caught
Then Baba reached His own hand into that margii's pocket and took out the watch.
Baba showed the watch to everyone present and inquired, "Who does this belong to?"
The one who had lost his watch immediately came forward and claimed it. Baba then rebuked the margii who stole the watch.

Baba said, "This is the 9th time you have committed a theft."
The margii promised, "Baba, I promise I will never steal anything again."
Witnessing this scene had a profound effect on me. Seeing this entire episode, I realised that, "Yes, here is a man who has really some spiritual power and who can find out the inner secret of the human mind."
Conclusion
By the above story, we have to keep in mind that many wholetimers entered Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha without any faith or insight that Baba is Parama Purusa. Thereafter however, some became very strong and did a lot of work for Baba. In some cases, the better scenario, they became committed to the path of spirituality, versus the lesser option where they may have remained as a crude Wt.
In this story also, the youth thought that Baba could use intuitive powers to catch a thief, and he was impressed. But his understanding was not that Baba is Parama Purusa. So this story is a very good example of how we should bring youths into Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha and inspire them to become Wts, even if they are not initially strongly inclined toward spirituality. Moreover, if they are skeptical of spirituality, in time, they may or may not become great assets of the Marga.
We should bring more and more young people into the fold, and in due course with sadhana and Baba's grace they may become very strong. If someone is skeptical about spirituality then we should not just disregard them. Rather we should encourage them to come close and embark on the path of sadhana. With Baba's grace, anything and everything is possible, and Baba may take great work from them, or, if the are not careful, they may remain as is and live out their days as a crude Wt.

Namaskar,

Vijay Chatterjee
Initially, Dada Vijayanandaji did not like to sing our Baba Nam Kevalama kiirtana, but after jail period when he saw that if he did not sing then he will not get respect from sadhakas then he started singing.
~ In-depth study ~
Some enter our Marga drawn by the pull of a deep, inner yearning for Ista, whereas many more come for doing social service, and some come for selfish reasons also. Indeed, those who come primarily for social service involve in such projects their whole life, and often never take the time to delve deeply into their bhakti-cum-spiritual practices. They are not inclined towards deeper sadhana etc. Verily, some remain as crude materialists their whole life. Even then, it is acceptable to focus more on social service because our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha is both a social and spiritual organisation. So if some engage primarily in service projects it is ok. After all, diving deeply into spirituality is rare as that is the accumulation of several lives of sadhana along with Guru’s grace. It is not something ordinary.

He knows your thoughts
Ananda Marga ideology states, "Supreme Puruśa knows everything, each and every incident of the universe.” ...He is the Supreme Progenitor, all are His children. He cannot hate anybody, although He knows everything. He knows what you did, He knows what you said, He knows what you thought, because everything is within His mind. [Everything is] a Macropsychic conation." (1)
Note: The above is a first-hand account told by Ac Vijayananda Avt. As many know, Dada Vijayanandaji was one of the senior most Wts, and Dadaji primarily worked in a key role in our Ananda Marga Publications Dept for many years. Everybody is aware about him.

It is the accepted international standard and Baba's system not to copy another's work and publish it in your own way. Baba has given a very strict rule on plagiarism. Why is Baba against plagiarism or stealing someone's work? There are many reasons:
1) It is against the code of asteya (non-stealing).
2) Countless stories of bhaktas need to be published. But some do not want to do the hard work of compiling and writing these stories, so they just steal them from others. But new stories need to be told, otherwise so many unpublished stories of sadhakas will be lost and forgotten forever. So watch out for story thieves, and kindly help them not to steal by posting on social media in their own way. If you want to forward this story then attach the following yellow section with the story:

This will be treated as the standard protocol.

Great sadhaka
"Sa'r'a' yadi na'i va' dile prabhu, a'mi toma'y d'eke ja'bo..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1813)
Purport:
O’ Parama Purusa, whether You choose to respond or not, I will go on calling You through my kiirtan, sadhana, and dhya'na. To go on yearning for You is my duty - it is my main endeavour. By this way, I will also be able to know what work You have.
O’ Parama Purusa, Baba, the rush of the restless breeze and the humming of the swaying trees in the forest go on calling You always. Do You reply to their call or not? I will ask them secretly about this.
O’ Baba, with a deep desire and longing, bhaktas make their garlands for You in the burning heat of the flame and in the cold chill of the fog. Do you understand their pain and suffering? If You are not aware, then with the heartfelt composition of a song, I will explain their feelings to You.
My Nearmost, I will call out to You again and again, please give me a response...
Why disturbance in sadhana
Ananda Marga ideology says, "Most people are well acquainted with the fourth state of mind (eka'gra). In this state the human mind sometimes becomes exalted with divine sweetness; and sometimes becomes as debased as an infernal creature. Sometimes it keeps company with good people and takes a resolve never to tell lies, accept bribes, get intoxicated, or become characterless; and sometimes it thinks that honesty and virtue are sheer folly, for happiness lies in falsehood, taking bribes, stealing, promiscuity, and the like. The mind is continuously tossed between good and bad. But when the practice of sa'dhana' inspires one to accept shreya (path of benevolence) as one’s ideology, one attains the true state of eka'gra bhu'mi. In this state waves upon waves of citta emerge."
Sha'ntaditao tulyapratyayao cittasyaeka'girata'parin'a'maAnanda Marga ideology says, "Every newcomer to the path of sa'dhana' suffers from a lack of concentration of mind. After repeating the is't'a mantra a couple of times hundreds of undesirable thoughts flood the mind. The newcomer thinks, “I am unable to attain the One on whom I meditate, and instead am pestered by those objects I do not want.” The hand counts the beads, the lips mutter the name of the is't'a, but the mind roams in the filth of hell. When all the undesirable waves are removed from the mind, one blissful wave begins to flow, and the sa'dhaka attains the state of eka'gra bhu'mi." (1)
Note: If in sadhana a person is not one-pointed (eka'gra means "one-pointed") it means they are not repeating their mantra in a proper manner. It means they are lacking sincerity and regularity of practice.
