Miracle stories: can’t make margiis

Baba's main ethic and chief endeavour is the propagation of Ananda Marga ideology. Accordingly, when discussing Baba or sharing a Baba story, an ideological teaching should always be given. Baba's each and every action holds tremendous meaning. His life is an example of ideology. And that ideological teaching is what should be presented when recounting any Baba story.

Ideology should be given, not just glorious tales
Ananda Marga philosophy states, "A study of history will make it clear that a strong and healthy society has not yet evolved on this planet. This is mainly due to the inadequate propagation of an ideology. Although at different times a few people thought of establishing a strong and healthy society, they used argument and debate instead of deliberation and reason to convince others of the need for such a society, and ultimately ended up projecting themselves instead of the ideology. Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away because people started worshipping them as mahátmas [elevated souls] or mahápuruśas [spiritual beings]. Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (1)
As Baba guides us, in the past, countless rishis, mahapurusas, saints, and swamis inhabited this earth. And there are numerous tales of their greatness and miracles. But all those stories and all those praises never enabled society to advance.
How common people were not given any teachings
People recounted how such-and-such enlightened soul cured 5 people of a mysterious illness etc, but curing 5 people is of no use when society remained shackled by dogma and religious exploitation. And verily that was what was left in the wake of those great souls and mahatmas etc. Society remained in the doldrums. The common people were not given any teachings whereby they could progress physically, psychically, and spiritually. They just continued in their own patterns of living, following the same dogmas rituals blindly.
With regard to Ananda Marga, we should not present a miracle story where no ideological teaching is given. Merely recounting how a death demonstration was done, or how Baba saved the life of someone dying from a heart attack is not the right avenue. That is just a miracle story.
Per Baba's instruction, we are to propagate Ananda Marga ideology; hence our each and every Baba story should also abide by this tenet.

Sadguru Baba: teach dharmic code of living not magical story
Baba wants something entirely different from what those rishis of old did. His wish is that in all realms - social, economic, political, environmental, spiritual etc- the standard of society has to be raised to new heights. Everyone should be taught the value of human life and how Ananda Marga ideology can transform them on the individual level and society on the collective plane. Thus the ideological teaching has be given and then a system should be in place to ensure sadhakas are practicing those very teachings. Merely giving the teachings without checking the progress of the followers will not suffice. That is why Baba perfectly embodies this two-fold approach of giving dharmic discourses so the people know how to conduct themselves and oppose injustices, and at the same time Baba created the system of reporting and RDS whereby the checking of conduct was done.
Why Baba rejected book proposal
Baba does not want that He Himself should be glorified. That is why when family Acarya Devi Chand Sharma (Bhagalpur) approached Baba to write a book about His supernatural powers in the 1960's, then Baba told him to disregard the book and instead focus on propagating Ananda Marga ideology. Rather, writing such a book would only be a distraction as curious people would rush up to see what was going on - nothing more. When in fact the real need of the day is the propagation Ananda Marga ideology.
And indeed that is what occurred from 1955 - 1990. Day in and day out Baba graciously dictated a comprehensive spiritual ideology and social philosophy for leading society into that bright new era. By His words, by His example, by His songs, He has graciously paved the pathway for leading a dharmic life. He started the seminar system, schools, and countless programs toward this end.
Only miracle stories without ideology do not help
And that teaching should continue. That is our duty as Ananda Margiis: Propagation of the great ideology. Part and parcel of the Supreme Command is to bring others onto the path of bliss.
This ideological pracara applies to stories as well. When recounting any Baba story, it is imperative to think deeply to understand and share with others the meaning of that story. Miracle stories do not help elevate society. Stories have to be told with an eye toward teaching and guiding the society forward.
Baba wants there to be nuclear revolution where people are wholly transformed from their innermost cell to their outermost expression. And that only happens by guiding them on yama and niyama, Sixteen Points, and so many teachings of personal conduct and development. Merely stating the praises through tales and grand accounts of great mahatmas does not bring about the needed transformation of society.

Why only miracle stories have no value
Thus we should not fall into the rut that has plagued countless spiritual groups and movements. They merely tell how their guru made a gold-watch appear, or underwent tremendous penance etc. Yet in the end there is not a syllable about what the common people should or could do to better their plight. The common people were not given any guidelines or instructions how they could progress physically, psychically, and spiritually. Verily nothing was taught to them. Hence, their conduct remained as is - the dogma they were following continued. Plus one new dogma & inferiority complex was injected: The worshiping of the statue of that rishi who was engrossed in magic; those people were not taught how they could go close to the Divine Entity.
If they had been taught proper conduct and a dharmic way of living including the fight against exploitation, that would have been a boon for their all round progress. But, unfortunately, that was never done. Rather, they mostly touted the greatness of that rishi. Such miracle stories - i.e. stories devoid of any ideological teaching - of miracles are meaningless. A proper ideology has to be taught. And checking should be done to ensure people are following those teachings. But this was not done.
In stark contrast, Baba has given the requisite teachings for elevating all sections of society and it is that what we should highlight. Naturally then, each and every Baba story should have a teaching that is given side by side. Simply telling tales of His grandeur is not our way. That is not how Baba wants us to proceed.
Ananda Vanii says, "...The spiritual aspirant has to hasten that auspicious moment by pauseless effort, service and propagation of the great Ideology. This alone is the Supreme task for the present humanity." (2)
Conclusion
Here again we should remind ourselves of Sadguru Baba's teachings.

Prout philosophy states, “How can the conduct of the capitalists be rectified? In the realm of morality two forces act side by side. One is the internal urge and the other is external pressure. Each and every object in the universe has a vital force which longs for infinite expression. Átman or the witnessing entity supplies the necessary stamina to fight evil forces, but it requires great external pressure to neutralize the evil forces working against the internal urge. External pressure may come in the form of suggestions, advice, punishment and clash. Capitalists are immoral and are fighting a fratricidal war. Their internal urge is meagre and does not function properly. We have to apply external force to rectify their conduct. Nicely worded advice will not do the job.” (1)
