Baba
Grown baby
Namaskar,
Some
may think that only tried and true bhaktas have love for Parama Purusa,
but that is not correct. According to Sadguru Baba, everyone has love
for Parama Purusa - only some realise it, and some do not. Those who
realise their longing for the Supreme Entity chase after Him; those who
don't realise it lust after mundane allurements in hopes of satisfying
their unknown urge for the Divine Entity.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
For
our own knowledge and awareness as well as for pracara activities, we
should actively understand the difference - as well as the relationship -
between a'sakti (mundane attachment) and bhakti (divine love). By this
way, we can help others steer their course towards the Supreme, by His
grace. Because ultimately, all are seeking Him.
A'sakti (worldly attachment) vs. bhakti
In clear language, Sadguru Baba lays down the difference between a'sakti and bhakti.
Ananda
Marga ideology says, "In philosophical terms the attraction for finite
objects is called a'sakti and the attraction for the infinite is
bhakti." (1)
Ananda
Marga ideology says, "Your attraction to the Supreme is called devotion
[bhakti], whereas attraction to any finite objectivity is called
a'sakti. Attraction to friends is a'sakti, attraction to God is bhakti.
In the case of a'sakti the object is limited, in the case of bhakti it
is unlimited." (2)
Running
after the mundane or limited is a'sakti (worldly attachment) and
running after the Cosmic Entity is bhakti. But even then there is a link
between the two as Baba says that a'sakti is nothing but misplaced or
misdirected bhakti.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
Those on the path of a'sakti
are chasing after the divine
Here Baba points out how all have love for Him - all long for Parama Purusa.
Ananda
Marga philosophy says, "Knowingly or unknowingly everyone is moving
around Him. Everyone is bound to move, otherwise they will lose their
permanent shelter, they will dissociate from their permanent nucleus.
This movement is a natural propensity born out of love for Parama
Purus'a. Love for the Supreme is a natural propensity." (3)
So
even those on the path of a'sakti (worldly attachment), i.e. those
running after mundane allurements, have an inner hidden urge for Him.
The following analogy elaborates on this idea.
Baby example: eating pens & paper
We
all know that babies are prone to putting all kinds of things in their
mouth: dirt, stones, pens, plastic, etc. Whatever they can get their
hands on, they will stick in their mouth. Is it because they like that
object? No. It is because they are in search of something. They are in
search of food. And the proof is that when the baby chews on that paper
it will cry, spit out the paper, and throw it away. Only when it gets
food will it be satisfied.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
Naive
people may think that the baby likes to eat pens and shoelaces etc, as
again it will reach for one of those things. However, when that baby
does get some proper food, then it will not grab after all those other
things. It will not try to put plastic and paper into its mouth. The
baby wants food but due to its own unawareness it puts so many other
things in its mouth.
Similarly,
human desires are infinite; and in trying to quench that infinite
desire people run after so many mundane things. When attracted towards
worldly things (money, material, name, fame) people think their desire
will be satisfied. Just as a baby thinks that by putting plastic in
their mouth they will satisfy their hunger. But soon they realise that
is not the case. And adults too realise that mundane things (money,
prestige) cannot satiate their eternal longing. They always want
something more. It is like attempting to putt out a fire by adding
petroleum; the desires escalate. People trying to satisfy their infinite
desire with worldly lust but that lust only multiplies and life becomes
more miserable. Just as the baby wants food but chews plastic,
similarly human beings want Parama Purusa but because of their ignorance
they run toward worldly things. In this case adults also behave like
babies, but they do not understand. When one comes on the path of
sadhana or moves towards spirituality then one clearly realises this
eternal truth.
Tire of mundane allurements
All
jiivas desire Parama Purusa. He is the sought after Entity of everyone.
But those who do not realise that they desire Him try to satisfy their
longing with so many mundane things. They may chase after the opposite
sex, or money, or name and fame, or so many things - all in hopes of
satisfying their innate yet unknown longing for Parama Purusa.
Invariably,
a person tires of those worldly things - or even suffers backlash from
them. Their wife may beat them; their job may make them stressed out;
liquor and drugs will make them sick. All kinds of adverse reactions
will happen, sooner or later.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
And
in due course- either in this life or the next - they are bound to
understand those mundane things cannot permanently satisfy their inner
quench for the Supreme. Then they will come more directly onto the path
of bhakti. Till that time, they will continue to struggle with a'sakti
(worldly attachment), wrongly thinking that this is where their
happiness lies.
Only the beginningless and endless Parama Brahma is infinite, only He can satisfy all human longing.
Ananda
Marga philosophy says, "Brahma is the only limitless entity, and so
establishment in Brahma’s bearing alone puts an end to all thirsts or
cravings." (4)
Once
human beings understand that they are in love with Parama Purusa, then
they will chase after Him. It is then that they realise that their
travels on the path of a'sakti (worldly attachment) are fruitless and
they have to properly direct their longing for Parama Purusa.
Conclusion
Humans
unknowingly want Parama Purusa; they have infinite desires and want
intimate satiation. Just as a small child wants food and not that
plastic or paper; similarly humans want to satiate their infinite desire
in some way and they run toward material things but actually they want
Parama Purusa. That means that unknowingly all love Parama Purusa and
want Him. Due to lack of awareness they get caught up in material
pursuits like a small child.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
All
have inborn love Him. This fact must be made common to all then it will
be easy to goad everyone toward that Divine Entity. We should help
everyone realise that they have innate love for Parama Purusa.
This
is a great service as it will spare those on the path of a'sakti
(worldly attachment) so much trouble and torment. Because those worldly
things can never satisfy their innate longing for the Divine. As
sadhakas, in our pracara, we must help everyone to maximally utilise
their human life. The cycle of birth and death is endless. Only those
who develop samvit (spiritual awakening) can truly set their course
toward the Divine, and attain Him by His grace. We should do this in our
own lives and guide others as well.
Sadguru
Baba says, "...It is the bounden duty to bring all to the path of
bliss. Verily is this a part and parcel of sadhana - to lead others
along the path of righteousness." (5)

All desire the Supreme
Here
is another of Baba's divine teachings that guides us how everyone is in
search of the Divine and it is only the Divine that can satisfy that
the unlimited desires of the jiivatma.
2-5. Tasminnupalabdhe parama' trs'n'a'nivrttih.
Ananda
Marga philosophy states, “Purport: There is in the living being a
thirst for limitlessness. It is not possible for limited objects to
quench one’s thirst. Brahma is the only limitless entity, and so
establishment in Brahma’s bearing alone puts an end to all thirsts or
cravings.” (6)
Those
on the path of a'sakti (worldly attachment) may get temporary pleasure
from crude allurements like the opposite sex and shiny cars etc, but
such mundane allurements cannot satisfy them for long. Soon again, they
will be on the lookout for something else to satisfy them.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
Until, by His grace, they come onto the path of bhakti and attain Him. Then their desire for the limitless will be satisfied.
All
along however, it is their desire and love for the Supreme that keeps
them in the hunt. If they really only wanted a sports car then that
sports car would satisfy them forever and ever. But that never happens -
one day they tire of that car, toss it aside, and look for a new car or
something else to satisfy their longing.
But what human beings desire, of course, is unlimited bliss, or Divine Love.
Just
people embark on the path of a'sakti (worldly attachment) in order to
quench their desire, as they are unaware that their true longing is for
Parama Purusa, not mundane things.
Why worldly things are alluring
Why
is then that even though everyone's innate desire is for the Divine,
worldly attractions are quite alluring. The first reason is because
those things are, after all, part of God's creation so they have some
temporary charm. Secondly, chasing after mundane things is easy to do.
And thirdly, in their ignorance, people think those things will satisfy
them.
They
think, "I will be happy once I get a Mercedes-Benz", or they think, "I
will be satisfied when I get a bigger house or a higher post" etc. But
none of those things can satisfy them for long.
They
think it will give them bliss but all too often those things just give
them heartache and pain. Because their real longing is for the Supreme -
that is what is urging them on in their search.

Unknown love for the divine starts in animal life
Even
though many humans are on the path of a'sakti (worldly attachment), it
is their longing for the Divine that is the driving force in their hunt
for happiness. And it is not just humans but developed animals also that
have such an urge.
Monkeys,
dogs, elephants and others also have an unknown urge for Parama Purusa.
A dog's desire to please his master is the seed form of love for Parama
Purusa. Same is true for a monkey's desire to please his trainer. Such
animals are just on the cusp of human life and certainly they will
attain that in their next birth.

Everyone has become happy
"Bujhi bá ámár diirgha yáminii, eta dine holo bhor..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1216)
Purport:
With the grace of Parama Purusa, Baba, my long dark night has vanished. It is very evident. The lengthy span of misery in my life is over. Those bleak days are now behind me. After waiting for ages, the golden dawn has finally come. This new daybreak is spiritually intoxicating my whole existence with its grand colour, fragrance, and crimson rays. It is His grace.
The protracted, terrifying gloomy night which was covering everyone for ages has veritably dissolved. Those murky, menacing days are no more; they have gone. The lightning and thunder that shook my heart with its loud and roaring noise have disappeared forever. The era has changed. Those creatures of the black world, who were a nuisance, creating chaos, fear, and paranoia with their loud noises, have been vanquished. The fresh sunrise is filled with the sweet chirping of the birds and the melodious songs of awakened human beings. Hearing this, everyone has become happy. Now, after a long span, the beautiful days have come. The era of neohumanism has ultimately arrived.
No more is the poisonous hood of the monster cobra polluting the air with its poison and creating havoc in the atmosphere. No longer are demons swallowing the lives of living creatures with their ferocious bite. By the mercy of Parama Purusa, all the living beings of this entire world are dancing in happiness and adorning the shining aurora. Everyone's face is glowing with unusual hope and vigour. Now, after so much waiting, the good days have come. Those dingy days have passed when all kinds of dogma, fissiparous tendencies, groupism, and negative theories were dominating the society.
By the sweet will of the Supreme Entity Baba, the era of neohumanism with its rainbow colour has come...
How to have a link with all
Ananda
Marga ideology states, “Human beings also know that Parama Puruśa is
their source of impetus, is their Father, and that they are all His
children. As His children, they have a brotherly relationship with all
other jiivas, or unit beings. Due to this knowledge of brotherhood, the
human is superior to all other beings. Parents are greatly pleased when
they find that their children have been loved and helped by someone.
Similarly, Parama Puruśa will be pleased when you serve His creation –
not only human beings, but also plants, animals, and the rest of
creation. That is, bhúta yajiṋa, pitr yajiṋa and nr yajiṋa are to be
performed. Those who have this feeling are in the real sense of the term
human beings. Just having the body of a human does not make a person a
real human being, a rational being. Those in whom this feeling has
arisen will be called followers of Bhágavata Dharma. They are doing the
sádhaná of Bhágavata Dharma.” (1)
Ananda
Marga ideology states, “All beings are made of the same consciousness.
So although we may find ourselves at different stages of psychic
elevation, a Bráhmańa and a Kśatriya, an Indian and an Englishman, a
sweeper and a scavenger, a Zulu and a Maori, and even a tiny ant, are
all linked by the bonds of fraternity. If we remember this fact, if we
work for the well-being of all, then undeveloped human beings will be
able to develop their spiritual potentiality when they come in contact
with us. Even cows, dogs, tigers and bears who come in close contact
with us will develop psychic wealth and gradually acquire spiritual
treasures.” (2)
Ananda
Marga ideology states, “He is the Supreme Progenitor, and everything in
this Universe is His progeny. He is the Supreme Father, and others are
His children. Then, when all are the children of the Supreme Father, the
relationship between man and man is that of fraternal bond. You have
got a universal tie of brotherhood because everything created has got
the same father. The source is the same. When the spiritual aspirant
knows this fact, he cannot get any kind of inferiority complex or
superiority complex in his mind. He is not inferior to anyone, as he is
one with his brothers and sister.” (3)
The
editors wrote: “Our first step is to realize that the true goal of
humanity, the ultimate goal of evolution, is not the amassing of more
and more material wealth but the expansion of consciousness. Through
proper education and practical techniques of mental expansion, humanity
will come to realize that the hoarding of wealth and all the ills of
corruption and scarcity it creates, are nothing but the misdirected
longing of the human soul for infinite happiness – a longing which
cannot be satisfied by money but only by internal bliss. Thus as human
attention and activity is directed more and more toward subtler pursuits
such as artistic endeavour and spiritual practice, the selfishness and
greed which dominate people’s minds today will be replaced by a new
feeling of love and brotherhood. As we expand our minds toward the
Infinite and learn to share our mundane treasures, we will realize more
and more that we are all indeed one humanity, that we are all the sons
and daughters of one Infinite Intelligence Who is guiding us all to
perfection. Instead of being based on competition and mutual hostility,
society will be operated through mutual cooperation and love.” (4)

Democracy is counterfeit bronze
Prout
philosophy states, "The universe is our common patrimony. This
patrimony has to be managed by the Proutists because others may suffer
from selfish sentiments or groupism. To enjoy a right and to enjoy the
right of management are not the same thing. Since human beings are
mostly followers and not leaders, the right of management should be
vested in a select few. In every sphere of life – social, economic,
political, etc. – a very few intellectualcum-intuitional workers should
have the right to manage property and to safeguard the rights of
others."
"Each
and every individual has the inborn right to enjoy our common
patrimony, the mundane property. Anyone who violates this fundamental
law is a vested interest. Nobody should be allowed to go against this
patrimony. If anybody does so, they should be cured of their psychic
ailments. The process of curing them may be termed “Dharma Yuddha”."
"It
is the duty of each Sadvipra to protect the ignorant masses from the
fatal hunger for mundane property which is encouraged by self-seeking
exploiters. These self-seekers try to hide themselves and their naked
brutality under the camouflage of democracy. Really speaking, democracy
is a counterfeit bronze coin engoldened by the elixir of high-sounding
words." (1)

About the various scripts of the world
Prout philosophy states, "In the present world there are four types of
scripts – Indo Aryan, Semitic, Occido-Aryan and Mongolo-Chinese
scripts."
"The Mongolo-Chinese scripts are pictorial scripts – all the letters of
the scripts are pictures. They contain about 1055 letters. In the
Occido-Aryan scripts there are 20 to 35 letters. In the Indo-Aryan
scripts there are about 50 letters, and in the Semitic scripts there are
20 to 30 letters."
"The Chinese and Japanese practice of using Romanized Mongolo-Chinese script is unscientific."
"Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Sindhi, Kashmiri, etc. come under the Semitic
scripts and are written from right to left. This is difficult to write
and takes a long time to print. Malaya has abandoned Arabic script and
adopted Roman script to overcome this difficulty."
"The scripts of Tibet and South-East Asia come under the Indo-Aryan
scripts. They are quite good but difficulties arise in joining letters.
Through practice it has been experienced that Roman script is the best
script. It is the most scientific. Those who oppose it do so out of
local sentiments. Proutists won't go against any local script, but they
will encourage the most scientific script as the world script. At
present Roman script is the most scientific script. Future generations
may evolve a new script." (1)
