Impecunious Wt + 3 more

Baba

Impecunious Wt

Namaskar,

The term 'ajagar' refers to that very large snake known as the python. And the sense is that a python never moves anywhere to procure its food. It stays put in one single place, always. And it only eats what comes across its path. It does not spend its entire life traveling all about in search of one's food.

Application of madhukarii vrtti & ajagarii vrtti

So in the realm of sannyasiihood, our Ananda Marga monks are to adopt a similar approach while living on this earth. They are not to indulge in an ongoing quest for more money and personal riches. Rather our Ananda Marga sannyasiis are to adjust with whatever they get for their existential needs and dedicate themselves to infusing energy within others and serve all through our Ananda Marga social service projects etc. They should not waste their energy and time thinking about their own self and petty existence etc. According to Baba, this is the real dharma of an Ananda Marga sannyasii.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

At the same time, in their social service endeavours, workers can and should collect money for those projects. In that arena of life - for the service of others - they may seek out and gather donations and build up organisational bank accounts to sustain those projects. The account should be submitted to and overseen by a committee. Then there will be trust and commitment from all involved. In their personal life Wts must desist from keeping such accounts. Then they will be in accordance with the teachings of madhukarii and ajagarii vrttis.

Fake vs true wt, monk

So we should all accept His teachings with a cool mind and think twice when we see our Wts frivolously running headlong after money. Because, by that way, they have lost their dharma - according to Baba's teaching in the Acarya Diary about madhukarii vrtti and ajagarii vrtii.

Those AMPS Wts sincerely following madhukarii vrtti and ajagarii vrtti neither run after money nor property for their own luxury, only they long for Parama Purusa. So a true Wt will take proper ideation and just have the bare minimum needed to survive and execute their work of serving others. Side by side, one is not to harbour the desire of getting more personal wealth.

According to Baba, this is not only the ideal way, but the only way for a true AM sannyasii to live. Anyone going against this system is a fake sannyasii. That means our Wts are not to stockpile funds in their personal bank accounts, nor are they to keep unaccounted money (i.e. black money), nor anything that is above and beyond what is needed for their basic subsistence.

Here we should not forget this is Baba's teaching from the Acarya Diary and not some dogmatic belief from prehistoric Hinduism nor the fantasy of some jinanii, nor some impractical expectation by some day-dreamer which is too lofty to be attained.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Rather the highly practical and ideal teachings of madhukarii vrtti and ajagarii vrtti come from our Guru, the Taraka Brahma Lord Shrii Shrii Ananamurtiji who has  given this in the Acarya Diary. And indeed those wts adhering to this dharmic code of ajagarii vrtti are truly great. They are the real seers, sadvipras, and well-wishers of humanity. Their minds are crystal-clear and pointed towards Baba's teachings, and not drifting towards worldly allurements etc.

Ananda Vanii says, "It is action that makes a person great. Be great by your sádhaná, by your service, by your sacrifice." (1)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Everyone should render service to the world in accordance with their capacity and work for the welfare of the living beings to the best of their ability...You are travellers of an impregnable path. You have to march ahead proudly with the flag of Marga upright. You have no time to stagger or to look behind." (2)

Conduct rules overlooked

These following Wt conduct rules given by Baba go hand-in-hand with His divine teachings about madhukar and ajagar from the aparigraha section of the Acarya Diary. So in various avenues, Baba is preaching this special gospel of renunciation, but tragically within our AMPS sannyasii culture these things are just being neglected and overlooked by some. Best is if everyone judges for themselves if these below points are prevalent in our AMPS sannyasii order or not.

Wt conduct rules state, "One should attract other by one's sacrificing nature." (3)

Wt conduct rules state, "One should leave all sorts of luxuries." (4)

Wt conduct rules state, "One should adjust with the minimum requirements of life." (5)

Thus when some senior Wts are hoarding wealth, misusing money, and looking down upon others, then how is the rest of our Wt order going to become that shining example that will inspire confidence, service, and sacrifice to one and all.

Real yogii thinks for the universe, not own self

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The human mind has two contradictory inherent tendencies: one of acquisition, the other of sacrifice. The more one advances along the path of evolution, the more the second tendency, the spirit of sacrifice, becomes prominent." (6)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "What is the Siddhi, i.e., attainment of Karma Sádhaná? – (Karma Brahmeti Karma Vahu Kurviita). To serve every mundane object thinking it to be the manifestation of Paramátmá is Karma, i.e., the Sádhaná of action. What is the achievement (Siddhi) of Karma Sádhaná? It is generally found that an average person spends more than twelve or fourteen hours in thinking about his or her own self. But the moment one starts thinking about the universe, one becomes a Karma Sádhaka. When one starts spending all one's time in thinking for the universe, taking one self to be a bubble in the ocean of Karma, one gets Siddhi in Karma Sádhaná. A person is a part of the universe, and when one starts serving the universe, one is also automatically included among the served." (7)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Many people look upon human beings as God Himself and throw themselves into the service of humanity abandoning their families and personal comforts. Defying all obstacles – the dense forests, the towering mountains, the stormy oceans – they travel throughout the world promoting the welfare of all." (8)

Conclusion

Only by recapturing the ideals of ajagar and madhukar can we once again become that great resurgent body that led to the tremendous growth of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. With those ideals absent from certain sannyasiis, our problems will continue. So let us once again rally around the spirit of our saffron flag and embrace Baba's guidelines from the Acarya Diary and build an AMPS organisation that reflects the cornerstones of sacrifice and renunciation.

What is true renunciation

Here Baba guides us about the pathway of true renunciation.

Ananda Marga philosophy states "When the human mind becomes strong enough not to be affected by any colour, it is called vaera'gya [renunciation]." (9)

The essence of the above teaching is that the mind must not be allowed to become tempted and engrossed by material wealth etc. Rather the mind should be kept in a state of balance, whereby one can look upon this world with empathy. Then when can truly serve others.

Unfortunately, when some of our wts with high posts are keen on luxurious life, black money, and other allurements that exist in this mundane world, and collect crores in their personal bank accounts. Then how can we say they truly imbibe the spirit renunciation.

According to Baba, renunciation means developing a high mind through sadhana where one feels that they have come on this earth with a mission to sacrifice for the service and welfare of others. Armed with this true spirit of renunciation our WT cadre will really become a great and benevolent force in this world.

Baba, You have come now

Note: Only those who sincerely practice the higher lessons of sahaja yoga meditation can understand this song in the depths of their heart.

"Esecho tumi esecho, bhuvan bhariyá esecho, yugántarer gláni sariye diye,
áloker dhárá enecho..." (Prabhat Samgiita #3289)

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, Baba, You have come and have filled the entire world with bhakti. After removing ages and ages worth of agonies, You brought the flow of divine refulgence.

Baba, no one will remain in the dark any longer. You are the embodiment of these avenues: karma, knowledge, dhyana, and bhakti. You are the ocean of love, immeasurable, and infinite - ever ensconced in the fountain of love and affection.

Baba, Parama Purusa, the creation, preservation, and withdrawal is held within You. Guńátiita, the three gunas - sattva, rajah, tamah - are within You; Kálátiita, You go on performing Your cosmic liila with the time-factor. You dance according to the rhythm of Your divine liila’...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #3289:

[#1] Gun'a'tiita: One of the infinite characteristics of Parama Purusa is that He is beyond the gun'as, beyond all the binding principles like sa'ttvagun'a, rajogun'a, and tamogun'a.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Why is He beyond the scope of all attributions [binding principles]? There are two reasons. One is that He is the creator of everything, so He is the creator of qualifications also, attributions also. So how can He be within the binding scope of those principles, of those qualifications? And certainly He is beyond the reach of these qualifications. In Sam'skrta, qualification or attribution is called “gun'a”, and He is called “Gun'a'tiita”, that is, beyond the bondage of any gun'a." (1)

[#2] Kalatiita: Time is the psychic measurement of motivity of action. The entity who is beyond time is Kalatiita; time is not eternal - time is limited. Only Parama Purusa is infinite. Parama Purusa precedes time factor - He was present before there was time. Or we can say that before creation there was no time but there was Parama Purusa. That is why He is beyond time, i.e. Kalatiita

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Time is the mental measurement of the motivity of action. Where there is no action or where there is no mind to measure, there cannot be any time either. If there were no earth, or if the earth had not revolved around the sun, or if there were no developed living beings to measure the movement of the earth around the sun, then there would have been no days, months or years. We could not have measured them, and thus there would have been no time either. Hence the existence of time depends on two factors: the motivity of action and the instrument to measure this motivity of action...what we call Eternity is a collection of numerous fragments of time." (2)

[#3] What is time

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Time is not an eternal factor. Because what is time? It is mental reckoning of the motivity of action. This mental reckoning of the motivity of action [means that] where there is no action, there cannot be any time. The earth moves around the sun; that is how we get the solar year, the solar month, the solar day. The moon moves round the earth; that is how we get the lunar month, the lunar year, the lunar [day]. And the solar year or lunar year, the solar day or lunar day, are mental reckonings of their movements. Wherever there is no action, the possibility of measurement does not arise. And where there is action but no personal entity, no personal factor to measure the motivity, there cannot be any time. So the time factor is a relative factor; there cannot be eternal time. Time cannot be the absolute factor." (3)

Dada's false stories

Namaskar,

Dada Svarupananda has that great quality to recount, almost all the time, fictitious tales as real. So although he is a fine false storyteller, we kindly request Dada to inform us when a given story is fictional. By this way readers can be in the know. Unfortunately, Dada Svarupananda leads us to believe that all his tales are real and factually accurate.

In the below story, Ac. Svraupananda is recounting falsehoods about nirvikalpa samadhi that are clearly in opposition to the philosophical and spiritual foundations of Ananda Marga ideology. Again, Dada Svarupananda is free to tell fabricated stories, only he he is requested to comment on their falsity beforehand. Readers and listeners should be informed whether it is a mythological tale or an historical account.

in Him,
Satiish Deva

One very poor margi Ram Avatar was from a remote village in Bihar. No one knew about him. None knew. He was initiated by some Dada long back. And after his initiation he never met his Dada again, his acarya. Because he was from such a remote village that no margii, no Dada ever visited him. He decided that “he would practice sadhana whatever Dada had taught him.” So he was doing intense sadhana sincerely, morning and evening, for hours together. He was not knowing that Baba had also given kirtan. One day while he was sitting in sadhana, suddenly he listened some voice and from that day he started singing “Baba Nam Kevalam". So whenever he would go to work in the farm he would sing “Baba Nam Kevalam”. And the people around him would simply laugh at him.

He had two children and wife, but he lost them within a period of two years. But he was not disturbed about such happening, he was more careful about his daily practice of sadhana.

He came to know that BABA will be arriving for  DMC to nearby place. He thought that “no one knows me and I have never seen Baba. but in his dreams sometimes  BABA appeared, but I don’t know whether entourage and margis would  recognize me. However he had little breakfast in the morning and walked for nearly two hours and reached the main Road where he thought BABA might pass. There was none. He was simply waiting there with some flowers in his hand. And those flowers dried up. They faded because it was more than three hours that he was carrying the flowers for Baba. He thought “I’m not sure whether I will be able to see Baba”. He was waiting and waiting and waiting.

In the meantime someone came on a motorbike. And on the motorbike was the svastika flag. So he stopped him and said “is there any programme?” The motorcyclist said “who are you?” He was very poorly dressed. Then he said “I have learned sadhana of Ananda Marga and I have been told that Baba is going to pass through this road.” The motorcyclist said “yes, it is true. I’m also waiting and I’m His escort.” So maybe within half an hour Baba’s car might appear. There was hardly any person. Simply he was standing. Baba asked His personal secretary “please stop the car. Someone is waiting for me for a long time and he cannot afford to go to the place where we are going to hold the DMC.”

BABA'S car was stopped. BABA called him by his name “Ram Avatar”. He thought “how it is possible that Baba knows me and my name?” Baba said “Ram Avatar, how are you?” He said “Baba, I am fine.” “Are you doing your sadhana properly?” He said “yes, Baba. I try to do it.” Then Baba’s car was about to move. He was thinking how  he would offer faded flowers? Baba stopped the car and said “Ram Avatar, why are you taking back the flowers You have brought for me?” He said “Baba, they have all dried up.” Then BABA said “whatever you have, just give me.” BABA accepted flowers so humbly and said “Ram Avatar, whenever you find time, try to come to me.” He said “Baba, I cannot afford. I don’t have much money.” Then he asked “Baba is it possible that You sometimes would appear in my dreams?” Baba simply smiled.

From that day on, he became more sincere in his spiritual practice. And he devoted hours and hours. So, he had a very evolved experience. The experience was that whenever he would sit in meditation, after half an hour /one hour, one  embodiment of light would appear in front of him. And it would become just like a small spark. And that spark would merge into that body of light. And thereafter he would feel so graced, so blessed that he could not express in those words. So he was thinking that “what to do? Is it a problem for me? I don’t understand why and how this is happening.” So this incident continued for years.

One day, Baba, in Kolkata, asked one WT Dada that “well, I have one special devotee in a small village, go there and inform me how he is.” Dada thought that how could he go? He does not know him.” Baba gave all the details how he could go and reach the village. It was very, very far from the city. Even from the small township his village was very far. So according to Baba’s instructions, he first travelled in a train, then for many hours he had to travel in a bus, then after, he asked someone that “where is that village?” He said “that village is so far from here, nearly seven kilometres. How will you walk? And whom do you want to see?” He said “there is a very established and very accomplished devotee of Baba. I want to see him.” “In that village there is no margii.” Then he thought “let me go ahead and see”. He walked and walked and walked. After walking for some distance again he asked someone. He said that “whom do you want to see?” He was thinking that “Ram Avatar must be from a very big family, must be having a very good house. Then alone Baba could know him.” But no one knew in his village. When he reached some distance one person came to him “Swamijii, who are you looking for?” He  said that “there is a devotee. His name is Ram Avatar.” He says “Ram Avatar? There is a labourer. His name is Ram Avatar. And he is not in a normal mood. Sometimes he sings and dances. And he sings, taking Baba’s name “Baba Nam Kevalam”, something like that he does”.  He thought “let me go and see”. So he went. And when he reached there it was morning time at about eight thirty. Then someone pointed out that “you knock the door and Ram Avatar will appear”.

When he knocked the door, Ram Avatar appeared and the Dada thought “I was thinking that Ram Avatar must be a very big person but he is clad in a very simple dress”. He immediately touched Dada’s feet and said “Dada, how is it possible that you came here? No one knows me”. Then the Dada says “Ram Avatarjii, Baba told each and every detail to me and I had no problem. I could reach here.” He says “Dada how is it possible? I saw  Baba only for a few minutes. And how is it possible that Baba knew everything about me?” Then the Dada said “yes, Baba told me everything and I’m so tired. I want to rest.” Then Ram Avatar says “Dada, I’m going to work in the field. If I don’t work, I won’t be able to earn money and feed myself.” Then he went out. He offered a glass of water and some piece of ‘jaguri’. Dada took. And he had no place where Dada could rest. So under a tree there was a cot. There the Dada rested. After maybe two, three hours, after working hard in the field, he was fully covered with sweat, he came. He found the Dada sleeping. He came and washed himself. And then he massaged the Dada’s feet and all that. And then he asked “Dada, have you taken bath already?” “Yes, I have taken bath and done sadhana also.” So he prepared some food for Dada and both of them ate together. Then he said “Dada, you go to rest. I’m again going to work.” He went. Then that evening he said “Dada, can you please do me a favour?” He said “what, Ram Avatarjii?” “I want to do sadhana with you and I have to tell you some of my experiences. I do not know why and what is happening to me.” Then both of them sat in sadhana. “For the last two years, whenever I sit in sadhana, it may be morning, it may be night, it may be evening, then after some time a body of light appears before me. And I become a small spark. And that spark merges in it. And after that I do not know what happens to me.” The Dada thought “this is the experience of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. So Ram Avatar has got Nirvikalpa Samadhi? He is so fortunate?” So he became interested in  him.

When they did sadhana, the Dada would complete his sadhana maybe within one hour. Ram Avatar would just sit in sadhana and would have the same experience again. Then he would get up, again cook some food and both would eat. The whole day the Dada stayed with him and Ram Avatar told him about so many different kinds of experiences he had during his sadhana. Then the Dada thought “these experiences are very rare and these experiences may be had only by those who have reached the state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.” So he developed some compassion, some respect for Ram Avatar.

On the third day the Dada said “now I should leave. I have to report everything to Baba.” Ram Avatar came with t3. To the end of the village he accompanied him. With tears in his eyes he paid him farewell. And the Dada moved from there.

After two days when the Dada came to Baba, Baba simply asked him “did you have darshan of Ram Avatar?” He said “Baba, I met him.” Again Baba repeated “did you have darshan of Ram Avatar?” Again he said “Baba, I met him.” He could not follow what Baba meant. Then Baba asked “did you touch his feet?” He said “no Baba”. He thought “I’m a Dada and he’s a poor farmer.” He never even thought to touch his feet. Then Baba said “you have missed the chance. You have missed the chance. I sent you all the way simply to touch his feet. But you have missed the chance.” Then Baba said “ok, do you want to touch his feet?” “Yes, Baba”. “So you will have to go all the way to him, simply to touch his feet.” He thought “it took me such long days. It was such a strenuous journey to reach that village. Again I will have to go!” Then Baba said “well, before you leave for his place, you ask my permission, then you should go.” So on the third day he came to Baba and said “Baba, I’m ready to go and have darshan of Ram Avatarjii and touch his feet.” Again Baba said “you missed the chance. You missed the chance.”

Then Baba told him that “he was waiting to have a few words from me that he got through you. And the day you left his place he came back, sat in sadhana, and again the same body of light appeared before him and Ram Avatar became a small spark and he merged into that body of light for ever. You cannot go and see him again. He has already left his physical body.”

Then Baba said “you know, do not think that someone is lagging behind, that someone has not achieved any special experience. It is for lives to come to have such experience. To reach the status of Ram Avatar, you see, you will have to do sadhana, maybe for several years, or maybe for several lives. No one knows, and I will never allow anyone to know their level of achievement. Otherwise one may develop a kind of ego which I do not want. Do not get worried about it. Whatever I have given to Ram Avatar, I assure you that I will give this chance, this opportunity, to whosoever will follow the path that I have prescribed for them. And this is the agreement with my disciples. Whatever my children will desire to have, I will have to give. And everyone wants that experience of divine effulgence, the experience of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.”

How You can become  Parama Purusa

Sadguru Baba says, “When the pleasure-seeking unit mind blindly runs after unit-objects, Puruśa also gets smitten by the same mental attributes. He appears to be as if in bondage. But when the unit mind shuns its attraction for mundane objects and accepts that Supreme Puruśa as its only pabulum, it gets an opportunity to become one with the Cosmic Mind, giving up its finitude. With the attainment of the witness-ship of the Integral Mind it becomes one with the Puruśottama. In the absence of bondage of enjoyership (Bhoktábhava) the unit mind attains emancipation from all kinds of fetters.” (1)

Note: This is the essence of human life. When one is no longer allured by worldly attractions and sincerely directs the mind towards Parama Purusa, then one can become one with Him. This is the aim of sadhana and the path of yoga - realising Him. He is within but people are not aware. When, through sadhana, this ignorance is removed, then one truly feels they are Parama Purusa. And that is realisation, i.e. the feeling in the heart and mind that, "I am Brahma." At first one must impose this idea in their sadhana, but as one involves more deeply in their meditation then by His grace that feeling develops from within. Then sadhana is very blissful and one has advanced along the path of spirituality, by His grace.
