True history: Gandhi & Columbus + 2 more

Baba

True history: Gandhi & Columbus

Namaskar

Across the planet, false accounts of history are being propagated and depicted. In this letter, we are investigating the fallacious history related with India and the US.

In India, wherever you go you will find statues of MK Gandhi. Gandhi has been declared the “Father of the nation” and there is a national holiday in his honour. Gandhi is projected as a great hero, but the fact is something completely different. He divided India into three parts. In that pre-Independence era, Indians trusted Gandhi yet he betrayed them. In result, millions became refugees and tens of hundreds of thousands were maimed and killed. Countless lives were utterly destroyed. About MK Gandhi, Prout philosophy says something very important. Kindly review the following teachings.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(A) About MK Gandhi

Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell states, “Who are responsible for the distress of these millions of refugees? Those demons in human framework, whom those poor fellows trusted; to give ovations to whom those people rushed to meetings with thousands of garlands; for whose satisfaction people used to don special kinds of caps to cover up their sins.” (1)

(B) About congress party followers

Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell states, “Once I asked a certain gentleman, “Why do you put on such a cap? Is it because the white cap goes nicely with your black hair?” He replied, “No, not for that purpose really. I am using the cap not to cover my sins, but to cover my baldness.” Some people wear caps to conceal their baldness, and some to show allegiance to their political bosses.” (2)

(C) About MK Gandhi & similar demons in human framework

Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell states, “But meanwhile the refugees roam about hither and thither, and today the number of refugees is not only thousands but many millions in various parts of the globe. And for their precarious existence, for the ignoble deaths of those millions of wretched people, only a handful of people – demons in human framework – are really responsible. They come to the world and leave it in great ruins. During their lifetime, they fully utilize all the mass media. The common people become confused and cannot think beyond that which the mass media tell them. It is a general weakness of common people that they are inclined to believe whatever is printed in books and journals.” (3)

(D) About MK Gandhi, Columbus  and similar others caused genocide

Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell states, “Those demons in human form do not think that after their demise a real evaluation of their ideals and actions will take place. Only then do people realize, “My God, what a great mistake I made! I worshipped a monkey taking it to be a god! What a great misfortune I have brought upon myself! But now the situation is beyond repair.” The people become divided, the state becomes divided, psychic barriers are erected between groups of people – the collective progress of humanity is totally impaired. These types of people, I have said, and again I repeat, you will encounter in different fields of life. Some are inclined to believe that these types of people are found only in the political field, but this is not the case: they are in every field, especially in the fields of so many schools of philosophical thought. They have a heinous tendency to demolish the positions of their opponents” (4)

My personal account: myths about Columbus

The second case is with Christopher Columbus. Wherever the British were ruling and colonising etc, they were propagating a false history about Columbus. Even after Indian independence, I remember during the 1950s when I was in primary school how I used to read that Columbus discovered America and that prior to his arrival nobody was living there. The whole American continent was empty. Later on I came to know that that was completely false. Millions upon millions of  indigenous people were living on the American land mass, and earlier there was a full-fledged Mayan civilisation.

Still bogus history is being taught

Not only in the past but today also, all kinds of false histories are being taught around the globe. Columbus and Vasco da Gama etc were looters and invaders, but during our childhood in India we learned that they were great heroes who courageously discovered new lands that were previously uninhabited. That is the kind of indoctrination that was going on in India.

In a more recent case, in Bihar India, just some years back, kids were taught that Lalu Yadav was a great hero, i.e. a star politician and the saviour of Bihar. Yet Lalu Yadav was a thief, convicted by the court. Similarly, in the deep south of the US, still today many have been indoctrinated into the Christian theological proposition that this entire creation was made in six days. Children are not given proper knowledge about the scientific theory of evolution. In many places they are taught that Darwin’s theory of evolution and the Christian theory of creation should be given equal importance.

Now let’s come to the current topic. In the USA, Columbus Day is an annual event. However, the public standard is rising and people are demanding a properly rendered historical account of Columbus’s actions. For that reason they are protesting in the following ways.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Someone axed Christopher Columbus statue in Detroit

Columbus Day: An American holiday for some, a puzzling example of twisted (and flatly wrong) history for others.

Whether or not you’ve had to work on the holiday, chances are you’ve seen a lot of questions about why Columbus Day is still a Federal holiday, and why it won’t go away.

Over in Detroit, someone was apparently done talking and decided to take matters into their own hands. The Christopher Columbus statue near City Hall was vandalized by someone who planted an ax right in the middle of Columbus’s head (with tape) and splashed the statue with red paint, according the Detroit Free Press’s Daniel Bethencourt.

The Free Press said the incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. Monday. The statue was first dedicated in 1910 to honor the city’s Italians, and it was restored and relocated in 1988:

The plaque also reads that Columbus is a “great son of Italy” who “discovered America.”

Many argue that he [Columbus] should probably be better known for infecting indigenous people (who were here first, by the way) with a host of diseases in the places where he did land. (Courtesy of The Washington Post)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The annals of human history should show which communities brought about which amount of progress and prosperity in which area of social life and in which part of the world – only such significant events are worthy of being recorded. History should also maintain special records of the trials and tribula tions which confronted human beings, how those trials and tribulations were overcome, how human beings tackled the numerous obstacles to effect greater social development, and so on. Only such history would I call the complete history or complete cultural history of the human race.” (5)

Conclusion

When Indians learn the real history that MK Gandhi was the cause behind the tragedy of millions of refugees and countless deaths, they may also deface and remove Gandhi’s statues. That was the case in Europe as the masses have torn down statues of Stalin and Lenin etc; and, in the US and central America the same has been done with statues of Columbus.

The goal of Proutists is that an accurate depiction of history should be rendered, regardless of how bitter and unwelcome it is. People should learn from the mistakes and blunders of their ancestors. If falsehoods and propaganda are preached in the name of history then the same ghastly incidents will be repeated and the people will suffer. That is why history should be a depiction of the facts, not just fiction as has been happening all these years.

It is good that the whole globe is getting awakened by the vibration created by Mahasambhuti Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji. A new era - a new dawn - is on our doorstep.

Note: As Proutists, we want people to understand the truth about those exploiters of old. Everyday citizens should not be duped by false tales and altered historical records.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “I suggest that in the writing of history there should be a radical change. The history written so far is a history of kings and monarchs. It should be thoroughly overhauled and completely rewritten – rewritten in the interest of humanity and the universal well-being of the human race. If the chronicles of history merely describe who succeeded to the throne and when, who plundered the neighbouring countries or kingdom, and who became a minister, they will be of no importance whatsoever, nor, indeed, of any interest to the common masses. If human beings are to profit from the study of the annals of history, they must reflect the weal and the woe, the hopes and aspirations of the masses.” (6)

Here below is another statue of Christopher Columbus. See how the awakened masses defaced the statue and poured red paint all over Columbus’s head and arms etc. They are making the statement that Columbus has blood on his hands for his ruthless and savage treatment of the local populations.

Here in follow-up are some graphic accounts of Columbus's dealings and tactics.

Ears and nose cut off

~ Courtesy of Wikipedia ~

According to the report, Columbus once punished a man found guilty of stealing corn by having his ears and nose cut off and then selling him into slavery. Testimony recorded in the report claims that Columbus congratulated his brother Bartolomeo on "defending the family" when the latter ordered a woman paraded naked through the streets and then had her tongue cut out for suggesting that Columbus was of lowly birth. The document also describes how Columbus put down native unrest and revolt; he first ordered a brutal crackdown in which many natives were killed and then paraded their dismembered bodies through the streets in an attempt to discourage further rebellion. "Columbus's government was characterised by a form of tyranny," Consuelo Varela, a Spanish historian who has seen the document, told journalists. "Even those who loved him had to admit the atrocities that had taken place." Because of their gross mismanagement of governance, Columbus and his brothers were arrested and imprisoned upon their return to Spain from the third voyage. They lingered in jail for six weeks before busy King Ferdinand ordered their release. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Decapitate them or cut them in half with a single blow

~ Courtesy of Wikipedia ~

Columbus's soldiers killed and enslaved with impunity at every landing. When Columbus fell ill in 1495, "what little restraint he had maintained over his men disappeared as he went through a lengthy period of recuperation. The troops went wild, stealing, killing, raping, and torturing natives, trying to force them to divulge the whereabouts of the imagined treasure-houses of gold." According to Las Casas, 50,000 natives perished during this period. Upon his recovery, Columbus organized his troops' efforts, forming a squadron of several hundred heavily armed men and more than twenty attack dogs. The men tore across the land, killing thousands of sick and unarmed natives. Soldiers would use their captives for sword practice, attempting to decapitate them or cut them in half with a single blow.

The historian Howard Zinn writes that Columbus spearheaded a massive slave trade; in 1495 his men captured in a single raid 1500 Arawak men, women, and children. When he shipped five hundred of the slaves to Spain, 40 percent died en route. Historian James W. Loewen asserts that "Columbus not only sent the first slaves across the Atlantic, he probably sent more slaves – about five thousand – than any other individual... other nations rushed to emulate Columbus."

Las Casas writes that when slaves held in captivity began to die at high rates, Columbus switched to a different system of forced labor: he ordered all natives over the age of thirteen to collect a specified amount (one hawk's bell full) of gold powder every three months. Natives who brought the amount were given a copper token to hang around their necks, and those found without tokens had their hands amputated and were left to bleed to death.

The Arawaks attempted to fight back against Columbus's men but lacked their armor, guns, swords, and horses. When taken prisoner, they were hanged or burned to death. Desperation led to mass suicides and infanticide among the natives. In just two years under Columbus's governorship more than half of the 250,000 Arawaks in Haiti were dead. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Capitalists are not social beings

Ananda Marga Philosophy says, “Today the world is following either capitalism or extreme materialism [i.e., communism]. Under these systems, those who are endowed with greater knowledge, intellect or physical power go on misappropriating more and more material wealth. People have forgotten that together with physical wealth we also receive subtle wealth from Prakrti [the Supreme Operative Principle]. A member of a family who does not feel a sense of unity with the other family members and does not recognize the logically-acceptable necessity and the lofty principle of joint rights, cannot be regarded as a social being. According to a universal spiritual ideology, the system of individual ownership cannot be regarded as absolute. This is why our [Ananda Marga’s] concept of society does not support capitalism.” (1)

Religion: blight on humanity

Note: In religion, there is nothing positive. It just a bag full of negative things, i.e. dogma. In the name of God religious agents exploit the common mass and innocent people, in endless ways. They camouflage their dealings in various shapes and forms. Those with keen eyes can understand the falsehood that religions propagate. History bears testimony that religion has been the cause of so much human suffering. And still it is going on.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “If someone argues that an arum dish rather than a potato dish should be offered in the temple of Jagannath because potato is non-indigenous it is the height of absurdity. Does Jagannath make any discrimination between different countries? Is there any difference for Him between the river Ganges and the Jordan?”

“All lands are His own land; everything is within His mind, created with His own atoms and molecules, and resonated with His sacred ideation. Those whose preachings encourage such discriminatory feelings are the worst enemies of humanity.”

“These are the people who in every age in the name of religion have caused blood to flow, and have injected the fear of heaven and hell, of ghosts and demons into the human mind. These are the people who made human beings lifeless puppets.” (1)

Greed and cruelty of vultures

Ananda Marga ideology guides us “And even today these vested interests are still trying to perpetrate discrimination in a thousand and one ways. It is said, “One who knows Brahma becomes a Brahman.” But this definition of a Brahman is inconvenient for them so they have declared that the son of a Brahman is a Brahman and the son of a Vipra is a Vipra, whether they merit the title or not. In this way they have cheated the simple, mute and gullible masses for centuries together.”

“They do not have the key to salvation; no, they hold only one thing in their hands: the binding rope. They don’t possess the spirit or the valour to sing the songs of human emancipation. Their eyes do not shine with the radiance of universalism, but squint with the greed and cruelty of vultures. Buddha was the first person to revolt against their cruelty and devouring greed.”

“He declared unequivocally...Nobody is born low, nobody is born a bráhmiń. Human beings are considered low only because of their bad actions. But when they see Brahma in each and every finite entity, and act accordingly, they attain the rank of bráhmiń, they become established in integral knowledge. A bráhmiń is not a caste, it is not a rank; it is the vast Cosmic Entity established in universalism.” (2)

About Islamic cruelty

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Humanity, in its all-out quest for this aesthetic science, attained spirituality. One must acknowledge this. Herein lies the excellence of aesthetic science. For this reason, I have given my whole-hearted and explicit support for nandana vijiṋána. You know that there are certain religions which do not encourage aesthetic pursuits. You will notice that in those religions inertia, inferiority complexes and a sense of violence are predominant.” (3)

Effects of outside stimuli

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The stamina to stand vibrations differs in different people. Hence various degrees of happiness or sorrow are experienced by different people, and these differences depend on their respective mental constitutions. The subtle causes of these different mental constitutions are their acquired samskáras or reactive momenta, and the crude causes are their nerve cells, nerve tissues, glandular secretions, etc. The sudden vibrational impact on the body and mind makes the mind react violently, resulting in the cessation of the cardiac functions. This also explains the death of a person struck by lightning. The sudden contact of the eyes with an extremely dazzling radiance often results in the total impairment of vision. If we look directly at the brilliant sun for a few moments, our visual power becomes temporarily stunned and we cannot see anything for some time. Similarly, when some very high pitched or loud sound strikes the eardrum, the power of hearing may be destroyed. The sensitivity of every organ may be suspended by the impact of any violent vibration; this stupefaction, if the intensity of the vibrational impact is very great, may even become permanent. Yet sometimes powerful vibrations may help stimulate and restore the power of organs which have not been functioning for years. You must have heard of a person who had been blind or deaf and dumb since his childhood, regaining the lost power of his impaired organs in his latter years either by stroke of lightning or by being suddenly informed of an extremely happy or sad news." Public show vs real sadhana

Ananda Marga ideology says, “People’s life becomes mechanical, if they are overwhelmed with the sentiment that they must do such acts, must perform such yajiṋa, must rise in this manner and sit in this manner and get up in this manner and so on. Such a person is not happy and this type of ritualism cannot be called real Karma. To serve others at one’s sacrifice is called penance. In the absence of love any service or penance is for show and is therefore fruitless. All ritualistic devotion, sham penance, counting beads etc. are meant only for public show and true love and the Supreme goal are lost from sight. Brahma cannot be attained through actions, since the sweetness of joy is lacking in such ritualism. On the other hand the divine bliss is easily attainable to those who base their sádhaná on love.” (1)

Untold history of Sri Lanka + 3 More

Baba
Untold history of Sri Lanka

Namaskar,

This Prout teaching reveals a previously unknown aspect of human history with regards to the historical undercurrents of the situation in Sri Lanka. Such as who was there first, whose land is it, as well as how did the present situation develop. Following is Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's unprecedented historical account about the development and growth of Sri Lanka.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout philosophy states, "Around 534 BC, the prince of Rahr-- Vijay Singh-- reached Sri Lanka via waterway with 700 of his soldiers. Singhpur was the capital of Rarh those days. Nearby Singhpur there was a port also. Later on the name changed to Singhalpa'tan. This place is very close to Singhpur. Nowadays it is in Hooghly district. To continue with the history, the prince Vijay Singh was victorious in his offensive and captured Sri Lanka. And ultimately, Vijay Singh and his soldiers settled permanently in Sri Lanka. These are the ancestors of the modern Singhalii community. That is why Singhaliis are very close to Bengalis in their customs, manners, habits, and dealings. Their facial features are also like Bengalis. In fact, it is very difficult to differentiate between Singhaliis and Bengalis when one is speaking with them. Furthermore, the Singhalii language is part of the Indo-Aryan language group; hence it is quite similar to Bengali. The script is also the same. These days Singhaliis are primarily Buddhists. In spite of this, they have preserved their customs and manners so they are very similar to Bengal. The family name of Singhalis is Sena Na'yak, Jayvardhan, Gunatilak, Bhanda'r Na'yak, Desh Na'yak etc." (1)

Marginalised Tamils are native to Sri Lanka

1. Firstly, as per the above Prout teachings, it should be established that the Singhaliis are not the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka. Although they represent a 75% majority at this time and control the government etc, the Singhaliis came originally from the Rahr region. In His above description, Shrii Sarkar gives very specific details how the Singhaliis are closely linked with the people of Rahr - i.e. the Bengali people. And the reason behind this is that their roots are the same.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

2. As explained, around 2,500 years ago, the Indo-Aryan prince of Rahr, Vijay Singh, led his army of 700 onto the island of Sri Lanka via boat. The prince then launched an offensive to attack, kill, and rule the local inhabitants, i.e. the Tamils who are part of the indigenous Dravidian population.

3. Since that time the Tamils have been pushed aside, marginalised, and treated as outsiders. When in fact they are the original inhabitants of that land. And side by side, over the centuries their aggressors, the Singhaliis, have become the clear-cut dominant people of Sri Lanka.

4. It only makes sense however that the Tamils are the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka since the state of Tamil Nadu is directly across the water from Sri Lanka. Plus the Tamil community has been intact for more than 5000 years. So the Tamils have a long history and possess a language that is distinctly different from the Sanskrit based languages of the north. This all leads to the fact that the Tamils are part of the indigenous Dravidian population that inhabited South India including Sri Lanka.

Singhaliis came from Bengal / Rarh

5. Even then, the Singhaliis wrongly think of themselves as being the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka, and they claim that the Tamils came only afterwards. But that is not true. Per the above Prout guideline, the Singhaliis came from Rarh. So either the Singhaliis are concealing the fact that they are from Rarh; or the Singhaliis really do not know where they have come from. Whatever the case may be, this fact should be disseminated that the Tamils are the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

6. But even though the Tamils are the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka and even though that land is rightfully theirs, the Tamils have long been subjected to ridicule and torture by the ruling Singhaliis. Over time, the Singhaliis have built up a huge population in Sri Lanka and they control the ruling government and all the major sectors of Sri Lankan society. In that process, the Tamils have lost many of their basic and fundamental rights, and they have suffered untold injustices.

Just like other native peoples exploited by outside aggressors

7. All in all, the situation in Sri Lanka can be likened to the tragedy that befell the Native American tribes when the European settlers arrived. Or it can be likened to the disaster that happened to the aboriginal people of Australia. Or it can be compared with the situation in South Africa. Or it can be compared with the Inuit / Eskimo population of Alaska, or with the demolition that happened in the Fiji islands. In all these cases, the local native peoples were tossed aside, ousted, and subjected to a near genocide at the hands of the opportunist white explorers etc. Tragically, the Tamils of Sri Lanka have suffered a near similar plight at the hands of the invading Bengalis.

8. Up through 2009, the people of Tamil were trying desperately to get back their land. Toward this end they formed such fighting groups as the Tamil Tigers etc, in hopes of getting equal rights in the land in which they live. But they could not get real success. Still they are treated as third class citizens.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

9. Ultimately, the Singhaliis have strongly held onto the majority and they have not given proper status to the Tamils. Even though the chief demand of the Tamils was equality and not a takeover of Sri Lanka, the Singhaliis spread propaganda about how the active Tamil groups are just terrorist goons who want complete control. Whereas the simple fact remains that the vast majority of the Tamil people are not terrorists or secessionists etc, just they wanted their due rights, i.e. their God-given rights.

Solutions to the tragedy in Sri Lanka

Even though the Civil War ended in 2009, going forward here are some ways to bring justice to the war-torn land of Sri Lanka.

A. Both parties, the Singhaliis and the Tamils, should get scope to live in Sri Lanka. Both have been there for thousands of years and both have a right to equal membership of that land.

B. Unfortunately, problems always arise when one group does not recognise another. So the only way out is to cultivate love for other human beings and recognise their existential rights. This demand of equal rights should be put forth and at the very least tolerance should be promoted.

C. During His meetings with the Proutist Tamil samaj leaders, Shrii Sarkar again and again guided that the duty of the Tamil samaj is to propagate the idea that Sri Lanka is home of the Tamil people and that therefore the Tamil samaj of India must fight for rights of the local ethnic people of Sri Lanka. In the case of Sri Lanka, the answer is that the native Tamil population should get their due land and rights, and not be tortured or victimised.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

Prout's overall policy is to help suffering humanity and watch out for the welfare of all native peoples.

Prout philosophy says, "In accordance with this trend, PROUT advocates [that]...the interests of all local people will be guaranteed and gain proper recognition." (2)

The Proutistic view is to help the common Tamil population of Sri Lanka since they are the original inhabitants and it is they who have been victimised and tortured all these years. So the rights and essential freedoms of the Tamil people must be granted and secured; and, all the while the Singhaliis should also be encouraged and allowed to live there peacefully.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Govardhan Reddy

~ In-depth study ~

Long history of exploitation of native people

All in all there is a long history of exploitation of the native people in India.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Philosophy states, "The mutual relations between the original inhabitants of India and the outsiders, the Aryans, were by no means cordial. The Aryans, out of deep-rooted contempt for the indigenous people of India, used to call them sometimes asuras, sometimes da'navas, sometimes da'sas, sometimes shu'dras. The Aryans did not accept these people in their society; rather, they declared them to be outcastes." (3)

Treated as legend or myth

Baba's teaching that the Sinhaliis (Sinhalese) have come from the Rahr area is documented in Buddhist scripture but due to political reasons this history was branded as being mere legend only.

The Buddhist Review states, "According to local legend, the Sinhalese are descended from the exiled Prince Vijaya and his party of several hundred who arrived on the island between 543 to 483 BCE after having been made to leave their native regions of Orissa, Bengal and elsewhere in India. The recorded history of the Buddhist Sinhalese can be found in two large chronicles, the Mahavamsa, written in Pali roughly around the 4th century BCE, and the much later Chulavamsa." (Courtesy of Buddhist Review)

Link between Bengal, Sri Lanka, & Kerala

And back to the above Varna Vicitra discourse which is cited up above in the main letter, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says that the descendants of the Singhaliis went to the state of Kerala from Sri Lanka and established a kingdom there. That is why the language of Kerala - Malaya'lam - is 75% Sanskrit and that is why the manners and customs of the people of Kerala are similar to those of the people of Bengal. For all these reasons the Bengalis, Singhaliis, and Nayar people of Kerala are all similar.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Buddhism came to Sri Lanka and Bengal at just about the same time. So on this point there is also a shared history between the Singhaliis who went to Sri Lanka and the people of Bengal. Ultimately, Bengal reverted back to Hinduism whereas in Sri Lanka, Buddhism remained.

Prout gives better understanding

Over the years, and especially since 2009 when the civil war ended, there has been a lot of talk and heated debate about the situation in Sri Lanka. All are aware of this history of extreme tension and heavy fighting in Sri Lanka between the majority Singhalii (Sinhale) population and the minority Tamils. To this very day, international attempts to resolve suspected human rights abuses, including possible war crimes, have been rebuffed by the nation. So it is extremely important to understand Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's historical account and apply His Proutistic solutions to come up with a better understanding of what transpired in Sri Lanka.

Come emancipate all

“Eta din pare bandhuá eseche, ándhár gharete álo jharáte…” (Prabhat Samgiita #0386)

Purport:

After so long, my cherished Bandhuá, my Lord, has graciously come, showering light and illuminating my dark cottage. All the deep despair has vanished, as He has infused this world with unparalleled hope and jubilation. He has come to win the hearts of all with His exuberant joy and intoxicating dance. His form shatters all limitations, and the beauty of this formless Bandhu overflows into the ocean of form.

I can't understand His divine liila. By the mere mention of His name, He inundates this dry, dusty earth with blissful nectar. His grace touches each and every pore of this cosmos. There is no place that it does not reach.

His compassionate and loving heart overflows and spreads everywhere. My Bandhuá is the base of all life. Every expression stems from Him. His form is boundless.

The Lord of music has come to emancipate all with the sweet rhythmic, melodious tunes of the heart. Baba, Your exquisite presence has transformed everything….

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #0386

(1) Bandhuá: বঁধু, বঁধুয়া - ban̐dhu, ban̐dhuẏa - [ban̐dhu, ban̐dhuẏā] n (poet.)

In the above song, the bhakta is expressing how his Divine Entity has come. The bhakta is referring to Parama Purusa as Bandhua - a very intimate relation.

Short life & waiting room analogy

Ananda Marga ideology states, "People come to this world for a short time for some fun and games, and then they go. So for human beings the earth is like a traveller's inn, where they will not stay for long. Or it might be compared to a railway waiting room, where passengers from different places come and sit together for a while. The moment the train whistle blows, they forget each other, pick up their bags, and set off for the train. They do not look to right or left. Parama Puruśa is that train, and this world is the waiting room." (1)

Quality of true sadhaka

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The mind of the man whose consciousness or discriminating judgement is awakened-- whose power of judgment is intense, always remains wedded to the 'Buddhi'. That is to say, his rein (mind) remains constantly under the control of the charioteer (Buddhi or discriminating intellect), and so, quite naturally, his organs remain loyal to the Buddhi. Random rambles of the organ-like horses (organs) will cut no ice with him. But in a case like this if the horses (organs) be bad and untrained, i.e. the organs are faulty, it becomes impossible for the charioteer (discriminating intellect) to get the desired result. Hence for the right functioning of the chariot (body), well-trained horses (organs) are indispensable. A sadhaka (spiritual aspirant) also should train himself likewise. His mind, body, intellect, and organs should be directed towards the Blissful Spirit (Shreya)." (1)

How and why of sleep

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Sleep: Due to excessive physical and mental labour, the nerve-cells and nerve-fibres become fatigued and demand relaxation, forcing the conscious mind to cease functioning and producing the state of sleep. Often the subconscious ceases also, leaving only the unconscious to continue the work of the brain.” (1)

About dreams

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, ‘However, sometimes the nerve-cells begin functioning during the latter part of the night, due to sudden heat in the back portion of the cranium or to an upward movement of gastric wind. The subconscious mind accordingly starts thinking or remembering, producing dreams. In the absence of the functioning of the conscious mind, these products of the subconscious are accepted as true and practical. Sometimes the dreamer actually believes that he is flying, for the non-functioning of the conscious mind prevents him from perceiving this idea to be pure imagination. Some people become extremely frightened by their dreams and produce inarticulate mutterings of fear; at times dreamers even die of heart failure. To assist a person out of a disturbing dream it helps to bring the person's hands or feet into contact with the ground, for this aids the conscious mind in beginning to function again." (1)

B group discarded this Hindi PS #5019

Baba

B group discarded this Hindi PS #5019

“Ek nayii duniya’ ja’g ut’hii hae, ek naya’ tara’na’ a’ya’...” (Prabhat Samgiita #5019)

Purport:

A grand, new era has awakened. The novel song of neo-humanism has been sung everywhere. With the spread of neo-humanism, people all over have forgotten their internal differences. Their hearts are now filled with love and affection, embracing one and all as kith and kin. The fragrance of a neo-humanistic heart is permeating every nook and corner, everywhere. Human beings have lost their bad qualities and the new reality of a spiritual era has been born.

Those who were drowned in vanity and lost their sense, and those who were plunged in worldly longings, and those who were lacking in spirituality, now they are all flowing with cosmic grace. Everything has changed.

My Supreme Lord, because You have come that is why everybody has come to have Your darshan. Ever-Merciful One, You have arrived here and attracted one and all. You are present and that is why this entire creation exists. If You had not come, no one else would have ever come. Now, by Your grace, I feel that I am not alone. You are always with me…

Injustice with Hindi PS

Baba gave what is now numbered as PS #5019 on 24 April 1988. And it was sung in a Sunday general darshan before Baba and Baba approved it. And everybody said, “Yes, Baba it is very good.” And Baba said, “Ok, when you like it then I will keep it.”

Here is more of the background about this previously lost Prabhat Samgiita.
(A) The concerned team did not keep any proper record of the song, but some leading authorized Margiis kept the notes and preserved them in their diary.
(B) Mrs. Rita Roy, mother of Prof. Santanu of Kolkata, assisted Dada Vijayananda on the final compilation of PS archive and the song #5019 is from her collection / diary.
(C) The lyrics are in the Tiljala archive, but the tune is not available.
(D) Later on the audio was recorded in a studio. And Manash uploaded an audio version to Youtube in Sep 2017 and faced a lot of backlash from PRS Tiljala.

PS #5019

Namaskar,

You may be surprised to see the number of this Prabhat Samgiita. It is song #5019. Up till now it has been propagated that Baba composed 5018 songs. But the reality is different. In those days of haste, rush, and hurry, the responsible parties could not document all the songs properly, and they missed this song #5019. When they realised their error, it was quite humiliating for them to accept that this song #5019 was forgotten. So the correlating Prabhat Samgiita books were printed without this song #5019. That was a horrible blunder.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

So those in-charges knowingly covered up their failure. They thought that since Baba is giving so many songs then if one song is not documented it is ok. Ego was the main cause. They wanted to save their prestige. Fortunately, some margiis noted down this song #5019 when it was given and it was sung before Baba. And Baba approved this song #5019 as well.

When margiis complained about this missing song #5019, then those in-charges did not want to rework this series of books. So the suggestion was given to simply add it to the end. But that also became a thorny issue as such a move would reveal their incompetence. Ultimately, those in-charges thought it best to do a cover-up. And that is what they did.

Publications thought it would be a blot on their prestige so that is why this denial still going on. Although Tiljala has this song #5019 in their archive, they do not want to admit it.

As disciples of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji, it is our duty to give this song #5019 its proper place. To do that we have to spread this song #5019 all over the globe so everyone is aware about it. So please forward this all around.

In Him,
Vimal Ganguli

History of PS #5019
  • The song #5019 was given by Baba on 24 April 1988.
  • On 16 April 1988, Baba gave PS #4338.
  • The next song Baba gave was PS #5019 on 24 April 1988. And it was sung in general darshan that day.
  • Later that same day of 24 April 1988 Baba gave the song #4339.
  • So song #5019 was given by Baba directly after song #4338.
  • Because song #5019 was lost for decades, best is to keep it numbered as #5019.
Please also bear in mind that all along Tiljala had this song #5019, but they do not want to admit it.

Defeating avidya

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The avidyá force declares war on those whose desire or inclination is towards vidyá; this gives rise to a hostile tendency in the recesses of their minds, against which they have to struggle. At home the husband, wife or the other members of the family become dissatisfied with them, and create various obstacles. In the field of their activities the opportunities arise for depravity, meanness, bribes etc., and they have to maintain their self-control. The locusts of desires come swarming in to destroy the very bud of their sádhaná. So they must carefully avoid such temptations for their own safety. But those whose movement is truly towards vidyá, who are determined to follow the path of vidyá by sacrificing their all, will eventually become immune to all obstacles. No amount of scornful taunts or diatribes will be able to check their lightning speed. They will emerge victorious, weathering and defying all storms, and eventually stand firm and erect like the Himalayas; and the storms and squalls will rebound back in disappointment."

"When the sádhaka or the spiritual aspirant will stand untrammelled and resolute, with the courage of his conviction, and self-confidence, all snags and dangers will gradually wither away – will timidly disappear from his path...Obstacles are the concomitants of sádhaná, struggling is a good sign. By these obstacles sádhakas can understand that their spiritual practice is on the right track. Spiritual philosophy comes into being only when sádhakas struggling with avidyá’s hindrances, vindicates their move towards Brahma after defeating the base propensities of avidyá by their own intellect and judgment."
