Why we start at 3:30pm

Baba

Why we start at 3:30pm

Namaskar,

If you ask anyone in Japan, “Why are you starting this annual commemoration at this exact time?" They will say that, “At this very moment, tragedy struck with the dropping of the atomic bomb. That is why we start an annual commemoration at this precise minute.”

If you ask anyone in USA, “Why are you starting this annual commemoration at this exact time?" They will say that, “This very moment is when the 911 terrorist attack struck the first Tower. That is why we start an annual commemoration at this precise minute.”

If you ask MPD leaders in Tiljala, “Why are you starting this annual kiirtan commemoration at this exact time annually?” They will say that, “This is the moment our God has died.”

Margii: Oh, so you are doing an annual death ceremony?

MPD leader: Of course, that is why we start kiirtan at the exact time of 3:30pm.

Margii: I see, so this is an annual death ceremony really.

MPD leader: Yes.

Margii: But you are telling margiis that it is just innocent kiirtan programme, when actually you are observing an annual death ceremony which is against Caryacarya.

MPD leader: We have to do this for our group cause otherwise who is going to come. This is not deception or a lie. This is just diplomacy where we propagate this annual death day ceremony and its exact starting time in our brochures, pamphlets etc. So there is nothing hidden here.

MPD leader: See our kiirtan roster that shows the 3:30p start time. That marks the exact moment when our God died. That is why we made this chart. But if someone who is not living in my Bengal wants more details, then we say this is a devotional kiirtan programme. This is not a lie or hypocrisy; this is just diplomacy. While living in this world you have to do something to survive and thrive. So this is one thing we do annually. Otherwise who is going to come to Tiljala.

Here ends the conversation with my Dada.

In Him,
Amar Ganguly

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. If you wish, you can perform the shráddha [death day] ceremony any day within this period according to convenience." (1)
