Great benefit in doing slow + Gay marriage + 4 more

Baba
Great benefit in doing slow

Namaskar,

Here is an important guideline of Baba about pratyáhára yoga. In the presence of sadguru Baba, Guru pújá (pratya’hara’) was regularly performed with mostly one person leading the chant and with everyone else chanting afterwards. So at the time of DMC, generally one assigned person - acarya or family margii - would begin the chant:

Akhan'd'a man'd'ala'ka'ram' vya'ptam' yena cara'caram'

And thereafter the entire Marga collective would repeat that same line: "Akhan'd'a man'd'ala'ka'ram' vya'ptam' yena cara'caram'"

Then the designated leader would recite the next line:

Tadpadam' darshitam' yena tasmae Shrii Gurave namah.

And accordingly everyone would repeat that line "Tadpadam' darshitam' yena tasmae Shrii Gurave namah."

So this 'call and response' style was the way Guru pújá (pratya’hara’) was generally performed those days, most of the time. Anyone who attended DMC surely remembers how beautiful and spiritually moving Guru pújá was on those occasions. Guru pújá was veritably soul-stirring and wholly transformational. One could tangibly feel the subtle effect and sweet vibration. Still today when performed correctly, collective “call and response” Guru pújá brings that same degree of bhakti.

Call & response is best

It is well-known in the hearts and minds of bhaktas that the best style of Guru Pújá (pratya’hara’) is the call and response format. In this way, an aspirant can best ideate on Sadguru during Guru pújá. Because in Guru pújá we directly look at Sadguru or visualise Him seated in front of us. And the call and response format during collective Guru pújá (pratya’hara’) best allows the mind to focus - since one need not use mental energy wondering how the tune will be sung etc.

For all these reasons, over the years when any bhukti pradhan or any senior margii reverentially requested Sadguru Baba for Guru pújá to be done, then it was understood that Guru Pújá should be done in call and response format - where one person was designated as the leader, and everyone else would repeat thereafter, one line at at time. Because this way the level of bhakti and spiritual experience would be enhanced.

In DMC's this call and response style was the norm. Rarely, only when there was an extreme shortage of time and / or due to the lateness of the hour was it done in another quicker way. So the best approach for Guru pújá (pratya’hara’) is for it to be done call and response.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Pratyáhára. Pratyáhára literally means “withdrawal” - withdrawing the unsteady mind from the allurement of particular objects. Varńárghyadána [Guru pújá], offering the colours of the mind to Márga Guru, is the simplest means for withdrawal, but this process of pratyáhára can be practised even if Márga Guru is not present in His physical form. Ácárya/ás will give training in pratyáhára.” (1)

Bad: tug-of-war about speed

Unfortunately, especially in our overseas sectors like NY, Suva, GT, & Berlin, the call and response style of Guru Pújá (pratya’hara’) is rarely done. Rather at the retreats everyone just sings along at the same time. But in that case various problems arise:

- There is often a tug-of-war as to how fast it should be chanted;
- People are more involved in matching the voice than in the ideation;
- There is no time to breathe or focus the mind;
- There is no opportunity to ideate in between lines;
- And in general there is an overall lack of prama (balance).

For all these reasons, when Guru Pújá is done en masse the bha'va (ideation) is easily lost, or diminished.

Conclusion

When there is a designated leader who is properly trained in the tune and pronunciation of Guru pújá, then all sadhakas easily immerse themselves in the subtle flow and ideation and do not get caught up in mundane peculiarities etc. That is the beauty of the call and response style of doing Guru pújá.

In Him,
Dharmendra

Gay marriage is against AM ideals

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga is based on bhagavad dharma. That is why it is said that Ananda Marga is a man-making mission. There are various animalistic activities promoted in the general society which are harmful for the all-around development of human beings that are not supported by AM ideology due to their beastial nature. Those things degrade the mind.

Here is one such example of animalistic relations: LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender). In the following teachings, Baba is clearly showing that Ananda Marga promotes marriages between males and females. With that principle, beastly marriages like LGBT etc have no place in Ananda Marga way of life. LGBT martial relations are detrimental for human society.

AM marriage: between boy and the girl only - 1

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In the manner prescribed for marriage in our Marga, both the boy and the girl have to take equal responsibility. Women and men are considered on the same footing, and there is no question of men considering themselves superior to women.” (1)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “If the boy and the girl settle their marriage themselves, it is proper for the guardians to give their consent. In case the guardians feel that the consequences of such a marriage will be harmful, they may ask the boy and the girl to reconsider their decision.” (2)

AM marriage between male & female only

Ananda Marga Caryacarya guides us, “Male members of the Marga can marry females outside the Marga, but it will be better to marry a female member of the Marga to a male member of the Marga, as far as possible.” (3)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, “The bride and the bridegroom, dressed in neat and appropriate clothing, will enter the marriage hall.” (4)

AM marriage: between boy and the girl only - 2

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, “The guardians should not consider the caste or nationality of the bride and bridegroom, but they must consider the family and the merits and demerits of the two. The guardians, before fixing the marriage, will seek the opinions of the bride and the bridegroom and proceed accordingly.” (5)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, “In the case of arranged marriages, the guardians should finally meet and ascertain the consent of the bride and bridegroom, and bless them, at least a day before the marriage is solemnized.” (6)

How dogmatic religions survive

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Religions sometimes survive for a long time, even though they are full of dogma. This is because they know how to twist their teachings to deny the truth and adapt to different circumstances. Their purpose is to secure the interests of a special, privileged class. Some religions have also survived because they have associated themselves with God-centred ideas, although they are not God-centred. They make some dogmatic propositions about God an important part of their teaching, and on this basis they sentimentalize the minds of the people. These sentiments penetrate deeply into the human psyche."

"The main weapons of dogma-centred philosophies are:
1) The propagation of stories, myths and parables to create superiority complexes;
2) The propagation of stories, myths and parables to create inferiority complexes;
3) The propagation of fear complex and inferiority complex amongst the people, especially the Shúdras."

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "All religions use these three types of complexes to inject superiority complexes, inferiority complexes and fear complexes into the minds of the people. They propagates parables, myths and stories to inject complexes into people’s minds. Is it not a fact? All religions are based on dogma – they are not based on logic – and they propagate their dogma through stories, myths and parables. All religions propagate that “My God is the only true God. Other Gods are false gods.” When some religions claim that their god is the only true God, it is an example of a dogma-centred proposition. All world religions are based on such dogma-centred theories."

"Take the case of Hindu myths. The authors of Hindu mythologies say that the Brahmans are born from the mouth of Parama Puruśa, the Kśatriyas from the arms, the Vaeshyas from the trunk and the Shúdras from the feet." (1)

How people degrade themselves in present era

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Persons who are self-centered (Khuda parasta), don't have Paramatman as their goal, but something else. Outwardly they say that Paramatman should be obtained but in their inner mind they have the desire for something else. Such people who outwardly say that Paramatman should be obtained but in the inner mind they desire for fame, riches, have the crude object as their goal. Whatever the inner mind says is the goal of the Jiiva (microcosm). Whatever is the feeling in the external mind is not the goal. But in the inner mind, because of his goal being the crude object his ultimate achievement is known as Prakrtiliina. Prakrti means the phenomenal world. Their existence will be transformed into the phenomenal world i.e. the conscious man gets transformed into crude object. There is one more word for the Samadhi in the Prakrta Shakti and that is Jada Samadhi. Jada Samadhi is very much below human existence and to be free from that is also very difficult. After crores of years there will be human life. Just see how dangerous it is! So with Parama Puruśa, don't have two personalities, inside something and outside something else. Become the same as you are within. Entire mental structure, entire ectoplasmic stuff will be converted into the quinquelemental world." (1)

Note: Unfortunately, these days under the negative influence of capitalism, human beings have degenerated to the level of animals in that they are equally self-centered, living only for themselves, and not caring about others. In (a) capitalist countries and (b) metropolitan cities around the globe, this problem is prevalent. People are so self-centered that they never care about others - not even their own offspring. Such selfish people are worse than animals. This entire scene is the negative outcome of capitalism, which itself converts humans into beggars and beasts. Their selfish mentality is the root cause of all the problems. In the end they will be metamorphosed into crude objects.

Who is capable of taking human history from darkness to light. Ananda Vanii #22

Ananda Vanii states, Those who can dedicate their all to the thought of the Great and the inspiration of the Supreme are verily the most heroic. Indeed, they are the virtuous, and they alone are capable of taking human history from darkness to light.” (1)
