Story: all get Baba’s bliss + 3 more

Baba
Story: all get Baba’s bliss

Namaskar,

Baba has always given importance to sadhana. And as we know, in human life there are three spheres: physical, psychic, and the top-most level which is spiritual. The spiritual controls the mental sphere directly, and the physical sphere indirectly. And the psychic sphere controls the physical arena. So although all are important, the most important is the spiritual realm. And that is the exact training we have directly received from our Guru. In this regard, one story about the importance of spirituality comes to mind.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Attending Dr would visit Baba in jail

When Baba was living in jail, during certain periods and on various occasions He was not surrounded by many margiis, rather only non-margiis were there. Baba used to guide some of them on various spiritual points.

During one such period, Baba's jail doctor was Dr. KL. Bear in mind that Dr. KL is not the nasty jail doctor who later poisoned Baba. Rather Dr. KL was a simple and innocent man who had deep reverence for Baba. Dr KL's mother tongue was Maethilii, and he was a non-margii. As the official doctor for the jail, his duty was to care for Baba and watch over His health. For this reason, Dr KL went to check in on Baba everyday. So he was there on official duty. However, because Dr. KL also revered Baba as a great master, on some of those occasions, Baba would tell him bhakti-purn' stories and experiences of great bhaktas from the past.

The unique thing is that in the presence of Dr. KL, Baba would sing some of the bhakti-purn' songs written by the great poet Vidyapati, who was also one great bhakta of Lord Shiva. Of course Baba's grand stance is that of the Sadguru Parama Purusa. So His chief purpose was to guide Dr KL about how great bhaktas like the great poet Vidyapati would address the Lord. One of the reasons why Baba chose the poetry of Shrii Vidyapati was because both Vidyapati and Dr KL shared the Maethilii language as their mother tongue.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

As you may be aware Baba has cited the great poet Vidyapati on numerous occasions in His Subhasita Samgraha series of discourses. Here the point is that Baba with full heart would sing Vidyapati's bhakti-purn' songs in order to show how the great poet Vidyapati used to long for the Lord. Thus Baba's approach was purely instructional. And on certain select occasions, Parama Purusa Baba would demonstrate this in the presence of Dr. KL.

The song that Baba would sing

And in so doing most of the time Baba would graciously sing the following song. By this way, He could verily instruct and guide Dr KL on bhakti-purn' life. This was Baba's great blessing on Dr KL. Here below is one of the songs Baba would sing for instructional purposes.

Ananda Marga ideology says:

Vrtha' janma goina'yaluin
hena Prabhu na' bhojaluin
Khoya'yalu soha gun'anidhi,
Hama'r karama manda
na milala eka bunda
Premasindhu rasaka abadhi.

Meaning:

Fruitless, O Lord, hath been my life
That sang not, Oh, of glories Thine;
Lost in the worldly rueful strife
And Lost Thee, alas, Ye Treasure-Mine.

Fate's long portentous hand
With compassion, cold and daft,
Strayed me out of Thy Love's strand,
Deprived, alas of a single draught. (1)

I wasted my entire life and did not meditate on my Prabhu
Running towards worldly things I lost You.
I was indulged in lowly and useless  pursuits.
Alas, I could not get the beat of Your Grace,
Oh my most Beloved Parama Purusa.

This above teaching was given to show how the great poet Vidyapati used to long for the Lord. And then years later some of these lines were used in Prabhat Samgiita #340: 'Vrtha' janma gama'yalun, heno prabhu na'...". Such bhakti-purn' compositions were written so bhaktas would learn how to express their inner heart feeling to the Lord.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Dr KL felt blessed: Baba would often sing

So in the presence of Dr. KL, Baba would graciously sing the above song to guide Dr KL. In response, Dr. KL - who despite being non-margiis had a bhakti-purn' heart - would later recount that, "I was so fortunate to hear Baba sing; the melody and sound was just like the pouring of nectar. It was so charming and attractive and it had such a divine vibration."

Then with tears rolling down his cheeks, KL told that, "Even for someone who has a dry heart like me, this was very beautiful and I never felt such a fluttering feeling in my heart and a quivering sensation throughout my entire existence."

So on a select occasions, he would listen to Baba sing for 20 minutes or half-an-hour. All the while Dr. KL would sit quiet and listen. Then after that he would have to attend to other cases etc. So he with a heavy heart he would have to depart, and Baba would lovingly bless him and grant him permission to attend to his other duties.

In this manner, Dr KL would regularly attend to his medical duty and check Baba, and on special occasions Baba blessed Dr KL with the opportunity to discuss bhakti-purn' topics.

All in all, in this grand liila of the Lord, Dr KL had an assigned role, and he was playing his role very diligently. This doctor was very helpful in certain organisational activities in those difficult days.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Dr. KL became ensconced in Baba's grace

Then on one occasion Dr. KL could not reach at the proper time. He arrived a little late and noticed that the door of Baba's cell was closed. After considering the situation for a moment, Dr KL thought that, "Let me see what Baba is doing."

With strong curiosity, very quietly with one finger, he gently removed the curtain in front of Baba's cell door. What he saw was indescribable. Dr KL witnessed a huge flood of light emanating from Baba's existence. It was brilliant beyond words.

Dr. KL could not keep his eyes open. In that strong burst of light, overwhelmed by the whole atmosphere, he could not remain standing. So he sat down. His whole body was shaking - in a blissful state - he could not understand what was happening. Next, that effulgent light began shining inside his mind as well. After 20 minutes or so, he regained his conscious state - still divinely intoxicated by the experience. Then he mentally did pranam and went away.

Afterwards, Dr KL recounted, "That day I saw Baba doing sadhana then He showered His great blessing on me and the feeling I had that day continued on and on for six months. Whenever I used to think about Baba then my whole body used to begin to quiver and goosebumps would come and a deeply soothing feeling would permeate deep into my heart and flood my entire existence. And that light I could never forget. It was a  blissful feeling which I had never felt earlier in my heart. And still today - months and years later - these strong divine feelings arise when I think of Baba's sweetness."
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Mystical reflection

So this is one story about how Baba blesses non-margiis also. That happened in those days and in this present time. Baba's fathomless grace is always showering on all.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Grace has been showering on you. It is like a continuous rain that He has been showering on you. In order to feel His Grace, you have to remove the little bit of ego which is unnecessarily covering your head like an umbrella. It is your duty to punch a hole in the umbrella. Punch it with courage. Make many holes in the umbrella; then you will be drenched by the rain of His grace. Once you realize His grace, then you are in Him, you are totally absorbed in Him, you have become one with Him. That is a total victory. That is the final victory for all of us. And let His Grace be always with you, because He loves [all] His sons and daughters equally. His love is perennial. It is always there." (2)

Namaskar,
In Him,
Gurupada

Baba appreciates all

Baba does not just appreciate the great poet Vidyapati but so many great bhaktas like Bhakta Surdas, Mirabai and others - Baba appreciates all. So this gives one picture how with bhakti one can bind Him, otherwise not. So bhakti is the top-most and if anyone has bhakti, whether margii or non-margii, then that is great because bhakti is everything. And Baba recognises and blesses all sadhakas who have a bhakti-purn' heart.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

In a deeply melancholic mood, the great poet Vidyapati used to express remorse that, 'My life has become wasted as I did not worship Parama Purusa.' In this way he used to cry for the Lord.

Some of the teachings of Vidya pati

"Vidyapati says that while thinking of Krśńa, Rádhá was so radically changed inwardly that her entire mind become transformed into Krśńa. When the microcosmic point comes in close proximity to the Macrocosmic nucleus there can no longer remain two points – they merge into one. The jiiva merges with Krśńa. Thus ultimately there can be no duality – it simply cannot survive." (3)

"Vidyápati said, “Thinking of Mádhava (Krśńa) every moment, gradually She herself became Mádhava”. By constantly ideating on Mádhava, Rádhá gradually merged into Mádhava. This is why different scriptures and renowed philosophers have proclaimed, “Prakrti sá nitya nivrttá”. In other words, Prakrti gradually dissolves each and every moment. As a result of constant ideation on Parama Puruśa, portions of Prakrti gradually merge in Him." (4)

"Vidyapati Thakur says –

Kiye mánuś pashu pákhii kiye janamiye
Athavá kiita patauṋga;
Karama vipáke gatágati punah punah
Mati rahe tuyá parasauṋga.

Ananda Marga ideology teaches, “I become a man, a bird or a worm according to my actions. O Lord, I have only one prayer for you. Whether I become a man, animal, bird or worm, let my mind always remain in you.” This is the way of the most intelligent. For this you should remember that when you are doing sadhana, you are then engaged in sadhana. But when you conduct your worldly activities, beginning with buying supplies from the ration shop, buying tickets for a sporting event or buying a railway ticket, everything is fraught with anxieties. Whatever you do, repeat your Guru mantra in your mind. In other words, while doing your work take the name of Parama Puruśa so that your action will be sanctified. If you find that you are not in a position to do anything else, then sing kiirtana loudly. In this way you will always remain close to Lord." (5)

How to reduce the distance with the Lord

Ananda Marga ideology states, "All entities, living or non-living, are rotating around Parama Puruśa – some consciously, some unconsciously, – with so many thoughts and idiosyncrasies, so many bodies and structures. When will their movement come to an end? It will end only when they realize that Parama Puruśa and they themselves are one and inseparable; then will they become one with Parama Puruśa. The more sincerely people will follow the spiritual cult, the more their distance from Parama Puruśa will decrease; and when that distance becomes nil, the microcosms will merge in Macrocosmic Consciousness – jiiva will become Shiva. This is the parágati, the supreme culminating point of all microcosmic movement." (6)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "O human beings, you are fortunate. The clarion call of the Universal has reached you. Not only has the call come, but you are hearing it and it is vibrating in every cell of your body. Will you now lie in the corner of your house as an inert being and waste your time by clinging to old skeletons and bemoaning them? The Supreme Being is calling you in the roar of the ocean, in the thunder of the clouds, in the speed of lightning, in the meteor’s flaming fires. Nothing good will come from idleness. Get up and awake the clouded chivalry of your dormant youth. It may be that the path is not strewn with flowers and that inferiority complex will be attempting to hold fast your each advancing step, but even then you have to proceed onwards tearing the shroud of darkness. You will tear the thick darkness of despair as you advance in the racing chariot radiant with the Sun’s brilliance towards the attainment of the Supreme state." (7)

Attain bliss by surrendering unto Him

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Only one who has love for Parama Puruśa can take His ideation. Love is the expressed form of devotion. When does this expressed form occur? When it has its root or seed, only then it can occur. When there is seed, only then it will sprout. That seed is devotion. So, only that one can make oneself great, only that one can take the correct ideation of Parama Puruśa, who has the seed of devotion within. Let us see it from another view point. If one, after transforming mind into a point, without making it vast, merges it into Parama Puruśa, surrenders it to Parama Puruśa, then, in that case, individual mind does not exist. Then what happens? Mind merges with Parama Puruśa; there remains only Paramátma and not the mind. This is called Nirvikalpa Samádhi. In Savikalpa Samádhi the mind enjoys bliss because of its greatness. That bliss is called “Liilánanda”. When the mind is given to the Parama Puruśa, it is surrendered unto Him, in that condition the bliss or supra-mundane ecstasy is called Nityánanda. So devotion is essential to get Nityánanda or Liilánanda." (8)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The pleasure derived from eating a rasagolla is limited: while it sits on the tongue it is satisfying, but as soon as it goes down the throat, the pleasure ends. A rasagolla is ephemeral; only Parama Puruśa is infinite. No matter how you attempt to judge. Him, be it from the standpoint of His learning, education, love, temperament or authority, you will fail to fathom Him. He is immeasurable, He is infinite. When one comes in contact with Him one attains infinite ánanda, not the limited pleasure of a rasagolla. When one experiences just a little extra joy, one tends to forget oneself. When one experiences infinite joy, what happens? One merges in the ocean of infinite joy thus attaining “savikalpa samádhi”. When that flow of joy becomes so great that one loses. one’s own identity and existence, it is called “nirvikalpa samádhi”. This happens due to extreme joy." (9)

About samadhi

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Samádhi: While practising spiritual sádhaná, the mind is progressively withdrawn from the physical to the psychic and then to the spiritual. The trend in spiritual practice is to merge the extroversial propensities of the indriyas [sensory and motor organs] into the citta [objective mind, mind-stuff], the citta into the aham [doer “I”], the aham into the mahat [“I exist”], and the mahat into consciousness. In the case of samádhi, the conscious mind merges into the subconscious, and the subconscious into the unconscious. In the case of savikalpa samádhi, the unit unconscious mind becomes one with the Supreme Mind, whereas in nirvikalpa samádhi the unit unconscious mind becomes one with Supreme Consciousness." (10)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "When the mental flow of a spiritual aspirant moves along the introversial phase of Macrocosmic meditation, one’s animative force, having the potentiality of divinity itself, rises above all tendencies – all saḿskáras – and proceeds towards Eternal bliss. In this state the mind is vibrated with Cosmic feeling. The unexpressed divine qualities of the higher glands find expression and the resonance of the mind vibrates the nervous system. This gives rise to pious expressions in the physical body. In the case of those people whose occult feelings are not physically expressed due to causes associated with the nerves, the mental vibrations cause certain radical changes, in the various glands within the body. These occult feelings are basically of eight types: stambha (astounding), kampa (trembling), sveda (sweating), svarabheda (hoarseness of voice), ashru (tears), romáiṋca (horripilation), vaevarńa (change of colour) and pralaya (fainting fit). There are other feelings associated with these major feelings. For examples, nrtya (dancing), giita (singing), viluńt́hana (rolling), kroshana (weeping), huḿkára (roaring), lálásráva (salivating), jrmbhańa (yawning), lokápekśá tyága (indifference), at́t́ahásya (bursting into laughter), ghúrńana (whirling), hikká (hiccoughing), tanumot́ana (relaxation of the physical body) and diirghashvása (deep breathing)." Plagiary?

It is the accepted international standard and Baba's system not to copy another's work and publish it in your own way. Baba has given a very strict rule on plagiarism. Why is Baba against plagiarism or stealing someone's work? There are many reasons:

1) It is against the code of asteya (non-stealing).

2) Countless stories of bhaktas need to be published. But some do not want to do the hard work of compiling and writing these stories, so they just steal them from others. But new stories need to be told, otherwise so many unpublished stories of sadhakas will be lost and forgotten forever. So watch out for story thieves, and kindly help them not to steal by posting on social media in their own way. If you want to forward this story then attach the following yellow section with the story:

Warning: left hand for backside, not food

Note: Here eating means holding the food and putting that food in the mouth with that hand.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "There is a difference, however, between the cave-dwellers and the aboriginal human beings of the prehistoric period, and present day human beings. Human beings have brought more subtle beauty into the daily tasks and habitual behaviour, which they used to do in a crude way. Before eating, prehistoric human beings did not wash their hands, and they used both hands to eat. Today, we wash our hands, and use the right hand, or a spoon and fork. We enjoy eating in a more subtle fashion." (1)

In some parts of the world people eat using both hands - i.e. they touch their food with both their left and right hands, and use both hands to directly put food into their mouth. That is poor hygiene. Humans have two hands - one of which is used for cleaning their backside. So one should not use that hand for eating purposes - i.e. holding food and placing that hand into the mouth etc. The only exception can be on medical grounds or if one has only one hand. Otherwise, if one has two hands then only use the right for eating - not for the back side. The left hand will be for that purpose. Think of it this way: No matter how clean the bathroom sink is, no one will like to use the sink basin as a bowl to hold your food and eat out of that sink. So those who eat and place food into the mouth using both hands are dirty. Their behaviour is uncivilised.

Necessary to build up numerous self-sufficient units

Prout philosophy states, "We cannot neglect even a single living being in this creation, nor can we ignore the smallest part of the universe. So, as far as possible, the industrial system should be organized according to the principle of decentralization. Industrial development in one part of the world cannot satisfactorily eradicate poverty or unemployment in another part. Therefore, in the industrial system, it is necessary to build up numerous self-sufficient units, at least for those industrial and agricultural commodities which are considered to be essential for maintaining life. Otherwise people will have to suffer tremendous hardships during war and other abnormal circumstances. With the development of transportation and communication, the size of these units can be expanded." (1)

Why collective salvation not possible

“To continue the flow of His divine play, it is not desirable that all entities of the vast universe should attain the Supreme stance at one time; neither is it the natural process. Thus human beings must strive to attain individual salvation. If Parama Puruśa is pleased, they will surely succeed in their efforts.” (1)

Note: Many things can be done collectively like bhajans, sadhana, meal, bath, and kiirtan etc. All these can be collective endeavours. But not everything can be done collectively. For instance, collective salvation is not possible. Why? Because then creation will cease to exist and Parama Purusa does not want creation to end. Those who are fortunate will use their free will to do sadhana. Unit beings will get salvation on an individual, case by case basis, not collectively.

Punishment or blessing? + 5 more

Baba
Punishment or blessing?

Namaskar,

Sadguru Baba states, “You are all my beloved sons and daughters. Sometimes I appear harsh to some. But that is for love. If I were indifferent, there would be no need for scolding or punishment...Leave all cares unto me. O be blessed.” (1)

Parents scold their own child because their own child depends on them 100%. And that scolding is done for the child’s all-round progress. But those parents do not take that same approach with their neighbors’ children. Parents do not scold the neighbors’ children because those kids do not depend on them.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Meaning of Baba’s punishment

Similar is the case with Sadguru Baba. He did not scold ordinary sadhakas and non-margiis. And for those with 1% of bhakti, He scolded them less than 1%. Because such sadhakas depend on Him just 1%.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (2)

In certain instances, Baba has limited scope to remove their filth and put such a sadhaka on a higher spiritual state quickly. Although Baba is impartial and treats everyone equally, when sadhakas have less bhakti they did not allow Baba to clean them quickly. The fastest and easiest way for Baba to clean their filth was to punish them. Yet Baba could not do that with those who had lesser bhakti. In that situation, Baba’s hands were tied. Alternatively, suppose a sadhaka has 90% bhakti then Guru’s responsibility increases. Because the bhakta is depending more on Guru to clean them. So He scolds them much more, for one reason or another.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (3)

Why Baba punished some sadhakas more & others less

The fundamental idea is that a parent has a greater duty to their own child. If your own child does something bad then with affection and scolding you will try and bring the child onto the right path as soon as possible. Because your own child depends on you 100%. But if the neighbor’s child has a similar fault, you will follow a different protocol. You will not scold them.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Those who were dependent and had surrendered fully to Baba received more scolding. Baba overlooked their good works and scolded them for their misdeeds. While those who could not surrender were not scolded. Baba overlooked their weakness and wrongdoing, and commented on their positive works saying, “Very good, very good.” Here the flaw was in the person who did not give full authority to Baba to clean them.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (4)

Nowadays there is a myth in AMPS that really Baba's scolding was something terrible and that it should not be talked about. Some uninformed people think that those who faced Baba's form of va'madeva really made a horrible mistake. But that is not true. Actually, what they got was Baba's divine blessing. Because Baba can only punish those who already have a high degree of love for Him.

Parents scold their own child because their own child depends on them 100%. And that scolding is done for the child’s all-round progress. But those parents do not take that same approach with their neighbors’ children. Parents do not scold the neighbors’ children because those kids do not depend on them.

Conclusion

The formula is very clear. Those fully dependent on Baba got more scolding. And after scolding, He showered more and more supreme affection and love upon the sadhaka. By seeing this, those watching dharma samiiksa did not feel jealous.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Suppose sadhaka A & B committed similar sins. Sadhaka A has 90% bhakti while sadhaka B has only 5%. Sadhaka A is depending fully on Parama Purusa Baba, and sadhaka B depended on Baba just a little. In this case, although sadhaka A did the same mistake, as a Guru, Baba takes a tough stand pointing out the defect of Mr A. Because sadhaka A has more surrender whereby Guru’s responsibility for sadhaka A increases. So He punished Mr A strongly for that mistake, in which case Baba will also shower great affection on Mr A after metting out the punishment.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (5)

Later on Baba called sadhaka B and although sadhaka B did the same mistake as A, but because sadhaka B has very little surrender, then Baba may overlook the matter and say, “You should follow the rules properly.” So Baba did not strongly punish Mr. B. But because Sadguru did not punish sadhaka B, He will not call sadhaka B close and shower His divine affection either. In the end, both bhakta A and sadhaka B are happy. Bhakta A is very happy because he got Guru’s supreme affection, and sadhaka B is happy because he was spared the scolding.

In other words, we can say that those who have greater bhakti were entitled to more of Baba’s affection. To shower that affection, Baba used to punish them for one reason or another. And then He would shower His love. This was the only way otherwise people would have felt that Baba is partial. This was His divine liila and by this way He fulfilled the desire of the bhakta. The conclusion is that those who are great bhaktas got more punishment from Baba.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (6)

In Him,
Sudha’ Sa’gar

Even now Baba loves & punishes His disciples

Today also one can experience the love and punishment of Sadguru. Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji is Taraka Brahma. So He resides eternally in the heart. And His role is to love and punish and bring sadhakas towards their supreme destination. Earlier it was comparatively easy when He was using His Mahasambhuti form. Now it is a little more difficult as one has to do sadhana. But if one is very sincere in their spiritual practices, then surely they will get His unfathomable grace along with His punishment. When any sincere sadhaka goes against 16 Points then they will be rebuked and scolded by Sadguru. And this might get expressed in various ways such as undergoing an adverse reaction, being chastised by someone, contracting a disease, or facing some severe obstacle. By this way He does not allow a sadhaka to commit wrongs and brings them back onto the dharmic path.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (7)

For instance, suppose a margii was very strict in taking sattvika food, and then on one occasion compromised and ate something tamasik. Then that sadhaka may undergo a violent reaction. Whereas if an ordinary citizen eats that same tamasik food then he might feel just fine. If one falls away from their dharmic conduct, then Sadguru helps you realise your mistake by punishing you. By this way, you are forced to again come on the path of righteousness. In all sorts of circumstances, sadhakas can feel His presence, i.e. His love and His scolding. And they feel that, “Sadguru is helping me.” When He was in His form of Mahasambhuti then it was comparatively easy to directly receive His scolding. Now one has to be more disciplined and communicate with Him in the mind.

~ In-depth study ~

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (8)

All have committed sin in this life or previous life

In one of His discourses Baba repeated one Hindi phrase, Koi hiira’ chor, koi khiira’ chor. The sense is that all are thieves - some have stolen something meagre while others have stolen costly jewels. In that discourse, Baba says that you will not find any human being who has not committed any sin. All have done some type of sin, knowingly or unknowingly. In spite of knowing everyone’s present, past, and future, all the sins they have done and will do, Baba ignored many people’s wrongdoings and punished a few severely for their misdeeds. The reason has been explained above. The central idea is that Baba has more responsibility towards those who depend more on Him. So He punishes them more and loves them more also.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (9)

Those who experienced His va'madeva form really got His special blessing. Because He only scolds those who are fully depending on Him. And still this liila is going on. It is not that stories should only be written about those sweet experiences with Baba. Also those who faced His scolding should also come forward and share their tales.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Coming for worldly boons

A few may wonder what was the need for Baba to pretend to "harshly" scold others. Why could He not have said everything in a kind and gentle manner. The reply is that in those days word was spreading fast how Baba was the all-knowing, omnipotent God and could save any situation. Hearing thus, many new people / onlookers were intrigued and wanted to attend Baba's darshan for their own material gain etc. They had a type of superficial curiosity and were coming for worldly boons, i.e. to get their mundane problems solved.

So they were not coming out of genuine devotional longing for Parama Purusa and emancipation. This crowd of lookers made it difficult for Sadguru Baba to attend to His many works, plans, and projects. In response, Baba exhibited His feigned fury, or va'madeva form.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (10)

By drama of punishing Baba cured serious chronic disease

The secret behind Baba’s scolding is that He was removing the sin, curing their chronic diseases, shedding the samskaras of those sadhakas and quickly placing them in a higher spiritual state. On the outside it looked like Baba was mercilessly scolding the bhakta. But internally something vastly different was going on that was only known to Sadguru Baba and the bhakta. All those watching had no idea. If everyone understood that by scolding Baba was showering His blessing then the queue for scolding would have been very long. But Baba kept it a secret.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Dharma Samiiksa: Great example of Guru’s love & punishment

During dharma samiiks’a’, it was well known that thousands of margiis came before Sadguru Baba. They understood this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so they stayed for weeks and months under difficult conditions in order to get His blessing in the form of punishment. In result, their diseases were cured, their sadhana improved exponentially, and the occasion continued on and on. Not everyone was allowed for dharma samiiksa; only select people involved in social service were chosen. In that case they were aware of Baba’s working style. Even then, some reached with great enthusiasm and attraction and some under pressure of circumstances. But in dharma samiiksa the same equation was in vogue: The degree to which one surrendered was in direct correspondence with the degree of His punishment and blessing.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The quantum of punishment must not exceed the quantum of love.” (11)

When to ignore when not

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “If someone is engaged in unrighteous deeds, his neighbours should ignore his dark side, and should not repeatedly condemn him. One should say, “Well, I’m not bothered by what he says or does – that’s his own business.” But this attitude of tolerance can only be accepted to a certain extent. If the person’s sinful or wicked actions harm society and disrupt social life, one can no longer afford to be indifferent.” (1)

Note: Baba’s above teaching is extremely practical and meaningful on multiple levels.
(a) There are all kinds of people on this earth, and we may well come across people on a regular basis whom we do not appreciate due to their various misdeeds and poor character.
(b) So long as that person’s negative dealings are limited to their own personal lives, we should just let them be, and not address their behaviour directly. We should just let them exist in their own way, and essentially ignore them. That much tolerance we should have.
(c) However, if that person’s misdeeds cross the boundary into our social life, then one may no longer overlook that person’s wrongdoing. At that point, we have to take a strong stand and confront that individual. That is the dharmic approach.

Ego is anti-neohumanism

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Where people are guided more by ahaḿtattva [doer “I”, ego], they say: “I am doing, I am giving. This was done by me, that was done by me,” and so on. [The higher faculty of mahattattva, pure “I” feeling, is not affected by any sense of ego or vanity.] Though people at this stage are moving on the path of sádhaná, still there is some defect in them. Their minds do not inspire the lives of others, their minds do not touch the minds of others. They do not reach the sweetness of others' “I” feelings, for they are too preoccupied with themselves. Their approach is defective; their path is not the path of Neohumanism." (1)

Mudras cure deafness

Note: If one deaf person arouses the feeling of bhakti listen to Sadguru’s discourses and spiritual teachings and meditates on either of His two mudrás (janusparsaha and varabhaya) then the deafness will be cured.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “If a deaf man sincerely wants to hear what the Sadguru is saying, the positive microvita radiated through these two mudrás are sure to help him – they will certainly help him....raising positive microvita from the lunar plexus to the occult plexus is called “krpá”. And raising them from the lunar plexus to the pinnacled point of human glory is called “karuńá”. Without krpá there cannot be karuńá, there cannot be any galloping jump. Raising negative microvita above the psycho-physical plexus is “rusti” or “risti”. You should always try to avoid rusti and always try to receive the glamour of krpá or karuńá.” (1)

Why useless dreams

Ananda Marga ideology states, "When certain impressions perceived by the sense organs, agitate the conscious mind and sensory or material thoughts are thereby vehemently awakened in the conscious mind, the nervous system, the crude receptacle of the Kámamaya Kośa and the mind itself becomes unsteady and restless. This leaves an impression on the cells that is short-lived or long-lasting depending on the degree of its intensity. Sometimes even a significant impression being compelled to give way to a newer one under the impact of some other sense-agitation or restlessness, loses its previously acquired permanence. In the sleep state, if a person's nerve-tissues are agitated due to some physical cause, often either as the result of this or on account of cerebral heat caused by some vehement thinking, the nerve cells also become tired and disturbed. Such agitations give rise in the mental sphere to desires similar to those impressions, accumulated in the nerve-cells. Thus the agitated citta (the sub-conscious mind) accepts as real the stream of thoughts arising from one or more such impressions. The crude organs having stopped functioning, the identical desire arising from the previously acquired desire, do not then seem to be imaginary but appear to be quite real. Such dreams often do not come true, for these are actually pure imaginations or a mere stringing together of different disjointed thoughts, a confused or inconsistent dream. Only those whose nerve tissues have become weak due to some ailments of the brain or head or to some protracted illness, or those whose digestive system are malfunctioning, generally experience such confused dreams, which we may call Sensual Dreams. These dreams, as I have already said, are the true reproduction of previously imagined objects or the disjointed expressions of previous thoughts. Excessive eating also gives rise to such dreams in a person. Those who have purity of thoughts and also restraint over their diet, are generally less susceptible to such dreams. Such dreams never occur during [deep] sleep.” (1)

How future humans will look - & why

Ananda Marga Ideology guides us, "I have also said that in the future the number of vrttis may further increase. The more complicated social life, family life, the realm of thought and the realm of intellect become, the more vrttis will develop. For example, the vrtti, cunningness, may be expressed in many more ways. To fulfil their desires, people will develop different types of cunningness which may become different vrttis in future. For example, the cunningness required to procure an object by devious means, the cunningness needed to give a promise knowing full well that one will never keep it, and the cunningness required to trick someone into believing that one did not tell a lie when in fact one did tell a lie, may all become separate vrttis in future.”

"Thus, in the future, as people’s thought processes become more complicated, many new vrttis will develop. The number of vrttis may not stay at fifty. Just imagine the situation that will arise in the future as a result of humanity’s ever increasing thirst for knowledge. To meet these developments the nerve cells and nerve fibres will have to become more complex. Consequently, the human cranium will become larger and the size of the head will increase. The hands and feet will become weaker and weaker and human beings may even lose the ability to walk. Today, the human toes have almost stopped functioning – in spiritual actions we have almost no use for them – whereas at one time, when we used to walk on four legs, we used our toes as much as our fingers. The front legs were used less and less, and were transformed into arms, and thus these days it has become almost impossible for us to crawl on all fours.”

“There was a time when humans would run on four legs, but today they cannot do that. After a time, children feel uncomfortable crawling around on all fours and try to walk on their hind legs. In the initial stages, when they try to stand up, they soon fall down. Again they stand up, again they fall down. When they finally develop the habit of standing on two legs, there are corresponding changes in the physical structure so that the use of their arms becomes less. In the future, the legs will be used less and less and the capacity to move on them will decrease. The arms will become thin, and the head will become abnormally large.” (1)

Psycho-economic exploitation is the root

Prout philosophy states, “The exploited people are not even aware that they are being exploited. This is why it is easy to exploit them in the social sphere, then create inferiority complexes in their minds to keep them under prolonged administrative domination and perpetuate the exploitation. This is easily done by the cunning exploiters. And the tragedy is that the exploited mass do not try to understand – they cannot understand, and they even refuse to understand – that they are victims of exploitation. So this is more dangerous.”
“When the exploitation takes place in economic sphere directly, the people easily understand it, but when the exploitation is perpetrated in the socio-economic sphere or the psycho-economic sphere, the situation becomes complicated. In the case of exploitation is the socio-economic sphere, the people raise a little murmur against the social exploitation, but they fail to take note of the economic exploitation which is the final result of such socio-economic exploitation. And in the case of psychoeconomic exploitation, the people feel a little aggrieved because they are being suppressed from the psychic point of view, but they are not aware that the ultimate result is also economic exploitation.”
“As regards the psychic sphere, I can say this – there can be numerous modes of exploitation in the psychic sphere, and to comprehend all these, the people must be more educated and more intelligent.” (1)

Who remembers their past life

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "After death the disembodied mind floats in the vast space with its unexpressed saḿskáras. Later on, with the cooperation of the mutative principle, the disembodied mind finds a suitable physical base. The memory of its past life remains awake for approximately the first five years of its new life. Although the child remains in a new physical environment, mentally it continues to live the joys and sorrows of its previous life. That is why children sometimes laugh and cry in their sleep, and their mothers often think they are talking with God. In colloquial Bengali this is called deola kát́á. In actual fact this laughter and crying is nothing but the reappearance of past memories. To re-experience past events one does not need the cooperation of the old brain. The newly-born mind has not yet had time to build a close relationship with the new brain. The revival of experiences of past lives is what we call “extra-cerebral memory”, and is principally the task of the causal mind." (1)

Human culture is one

Prout philosophy states, "Culture is a vague term. It is the collective name for different expressions of life. People eat, enjoy hospitality, laugh on some occasions and shed tears on others, and thereby express life through various actions. The collective name of all these actions is culture."

"According to PROUT all of society has the same culture. There are local variations in the mode or state of cultural expression, but the expression is universal. While everybody eats, some eat by hand, others by stick and still others by spoon. Indian dance is based on Mudrá or dance postures, and European dance is based on rhythm, but they do not represent two different cultures."

"Local variations will diminish if there is a close blending between different groups of people, because this will create common customs. In Nepal there is a blending of Hindu and Buddhist customs. In Bengal there is a blending of Aryan and Dravidian customs. These local variations are called customs. Thus local modes of expression bearing local or group specialities are customs, but the expression itself is culture. Therefore it is a mistake to readjust boundaries on the basis of language and culture. Indian culture and the culture of the world are one and the same." (1)

Calculating one’s liberation + 3 more

Baba
Calculating one’s liberation

Namaskar,

There are many on the path who wonder how and when their samskaras will be burned, thereby enabling them to attain liberation. In particular, karmiis and jinanis get caught up in this psychological puzzle. But, sadly, their theories and strategies only serve to pull them back into the cycle of action and reaction.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Baba’s guarantee to all sadhakas

For sadhakas and bhaktas, for all sincere Ananda Margiis, however, the situation is entirely different. Sadguru Baba has guaranteed their liberation in the Supreme Command, which is printed in the beginning of every AM book. So for them, whatever is their balance of samskaras at the time of death, Baba relieves them of all such burdens. This is His special grace and guarantee upon all sadhakas / bhaktas.

Ananda Marga philosophy, “The moment the individual saḿskáras are removed, the mind loses its existence and only the soul remains. It too, becomes one with the universal soul, like a drop of water merging into the vast ocean.” (1)

How to burn your samskaras

Here are the ways that one may undergo the requital of their samskaras.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

#1: Parama Purusa acts in His role as Bhaktavatsalam, the loving Caretaker of bhaktas. In this role, He favours His bhaktas and automatically eliminates their samskaras.

#2: Parama Purusa, in His role as Harii, steals the samskaras of the jiivas. By this way, sadhakas need not worry about the mathematics of their samskaras, as Hari steals their samskaras.

#3: The Supreme Command states that sincere sadhakas are guaranteed liberation at the time of death. That means that Parama Purusa will remove all their samskaras.

#4: By one's regular daily sadhana one burns their samskaras. In contrast, kiirtana clears them of their psychic sins.

#5: By the regular experience of karmaphala, reaping the fruits of one's past actions, people burn samskaras. For sadhakas, this occurs at a much faster rate.

#6: When one feels repentance and remorse for their misdeeds, then they are relieved of those samskaras. The classic case of this is the great sadhaka / poet Valmiki: He was a robber and a murderer, but he felt so much remorse for his many crimes and murders that he was relieved of those negative samskaras.

#7: Remember, in His grand role of Bhaktvatsalam, Parama Purusa unconditionally blesses His bhaktas and relieves them of their heavy load of samskaras.

Key point

Keep in mind that when one has trust and faith in Parama Purusa, then one feels a great sense of comfort and ease. Then one does not worry about samskara theory as they know Parama Purusa Baba will do the needful. Without that trust and faith in Ista, one's theoretical understanding utterly fails to remove their meaningless worries about their samskaras.

in Him,
Kalyan

Guru’s grace needed

Ananda Marga ideology states, “One must undergo the unsatisfied sámskáras, the unquenched saḿskáras. In order to attain salvation, one must burn up one’s past saḿskáras. A seed when soaked in water germinates, but if it is burnt up it can never germinate. Every human being must be a dagdhabiija [burnt seed], that is, one whose saḿskáras are totally burnt up. For this, one absolutely needs the grace of the Guru, the grace of Parama Puruśa. The scriptures say, “Just an iota of the Cosmic grace is enough to ensure salvation for unit beings.” (2)

Do not desire anything from You

"Tomár dváre prárthaná kare, nijere kari vaincaná..." (Prabhat Samgiita #2660)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, when I come at Your doorstep for alms, most of the time I ask for worldly, transitory allurements that fade away. And generally those things are bad for me. By this way, I harm myself - over and over again. Baba, I never request to have those gifts that are good for me. I cannot conceive of what is going to happen even after a single moment and am not aware about my true needs and requirements. But You see everything - my past, present, and future. And above all, You love me. My Supreme Entity, You know what is best for me, so please grant me whatever You wish.

Parama Purusa, this entire creation, this universal mela and panorama of flora and fauna - from the forest to the desert, and from the oceans to the mountain peaks - everything is Your beautiful expression. You keep an eye on this grand manifestation. Nothing is uncared for or neglected. You are so gracious. This is Your unparalleled liila. Every entity in this vast universe is Your thought projection. You shower Your mercy equally on all and do not consider if one is rich or poor - sinner or virtuous  - good or bad etc. You pour Your causeless grace upon everyone. Due to their umbrella of vanity and petty ego, some cannot feel Your krpa so they complain. But it is their fault not Yours. Baba, I do not desire anything from You. Please bestow upon me whatever You wish. That will be best for me.

Parama Purusa, by discarding all vanity and giving up their ego, all accept You as their own. When they call You, they do not address You as “Our God”; they say, “My God.” Everyone thinks of You as their personal Entity. No matter how many sins they commit, they feel that You are going to help them. That is why they want You to save them. They may not tell their bad things to anyone, but they must tell You in seeking Your compassion. In their weal and woe, they draw You near and evoke Your causeless karuna. Baba, in happiness and sorrow, all want to have Your support and closeness. They ignore the high walls of obstructions. They do not care about any type of obstacle or difficulty. Just they want to come near You.

Parama Purusa, I do not know what to truly wish for nor what will really help me. My intellect is incomplete and incapable of any deeper understanding. Baba, please be merciful and bestow upon me whatever You wish and think is best for me...

Prout rooted in spiritual understanding

Ananda Marga ideology states, “This lacuna in the physical sphere, and the consequent disparity, is the noumenal cause of all phenomenal troubles. Due to this noumenal cause, peace in the psychic sphere is being disturbed again and again.”
“With this end in view, with the sole purpose of removing physical misery and affliction, and keeping in view the higher goals of human life, the Prout philosophy has been formulated. There was no alternative but to propagate the Prout philosophy. Had it not been done, maybe human sorrows and sufferings would have been perpetrated for centuries together. Mean opportunists would have continued their exploitation, taking advantage of the simplicity or intellectual deficiency of the innocent and credulous masses. This exploitation has been perpetrated mainly in three ways: oppression, suppression and exploitation.” (1)

Note: As explained above, Prout philosophy has been formulated by Baba for two fundamental reasons:
(a) To keep the mind fixed towards the Goal - Parama Purusa.
(b) To solve all the problems in human society.

The overall idea being that any theory that does not have a spiritual Goal and only focuses on solving society's problems will not only render itself useless but will prove to be disastrous also. History has shown this. Here following is further explanation.

In the first paragraph of Baba's above cited message, He is giving His special guideline that Prout is spiritually-based, and that it "keeps the Goal firmly in front of one's eyes." And by this divine ideal, Baba has given Prout to alleviate the problems in all the sphere's of life.

And in the second paragraph of the above quotation, Baba is telling us that materialistic approaches like communism utterly fail to properly guide the society. Communism attempted to cure the social ills by redistributing the wealth etc. But without a proper goal, communism only wreaked havoc on the people and created more problems and worse destruction. So any socio-economic theory must be spiritually based-- this is Baba's teaching in Prout. Baba describes this in various discourses including “The Future of Civilization.”

Unfortunately, these days, in a few materialistic countries, some are claiming that certain non-margiis are top-grade Proutists. Such persons wrongly think that spirituality is not needed for being a Proutist. Their understanding is comparable to one blind person's evaluation of an elephant. Blind people conclude that an elephant is like a rope or a pillar, depending upon what part of the elephant that they touch. So their limited understanding is devoid of any greater meaning. Similar is the understanding of those who think that Prout can be led by non-margiis. Their level of understanding is no better than that of one small kid.
