Language reflective of mindset

Note: This letter is only for those who have reverence for Sadguru Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji and try to follow His Ananda Marga ideology.

As every Ananda Margii knows, language is a key part of our sentient expression. A more refined mind will offer more subtle ways of describing the phenomenal and spiritual realms. Unfortunately, in this era of stark materialism, language is often used in a debased manner. We should also be aware about this in order to correct the situation.

Here following is a small collection of the many terms that are a product of a superficial materialistic way of thinking and / or a lustful male mind-set.
 
(a) 'Chicken breast': Characteristic of lustful thinking, this is one of so many terms designated to give something appeal. It is no different from how they use the pronoun "she" when referring to a majestic ship or a fast sports car. Furthermore, whenever they want to give any ordinary item a grand descriptor they call it 'sexy' - in order to show it is the best of its kind or indescribable. In this way, a tablet can be sexy; a lamp can be sexy; a wine glass can be sexy.

(b) Where materialism and sensual manners have taken hold - whether east, west, north, or south - language is adversely affected. Sentient expression gets replaced by more degrading terminology.
 
(c) 'Male-female connection': Here a degrading innuendo is used to refer to inanimate electrical components, or what used to be known as a plug and socket. But in  male-dominated, materialistic style they are dragging down human existence where tamasika, sensual desires take expression in every facet of life and everything is calculated according to sensual experience. That is why the plug and socket has been changed to male and female.
 
(d) 'Lady's finger': This is another concocted male term for making an ordinary vegetable known as okra into a reminder that the female body is nothing but something for male consumption.

(e) 'Meaty': In today's materialistic communities even fruits and vegetables are termed as 'meaty'. Instead of using the more fitting term of 'pulp', the degenerated state of mind infuses tamasik oriented terms to describe even sentient things. In a similar way the term 'sweet meats' is used for desserts.
 
(f) 'Pig-tail': In order to exploit and look down upon females, and impose an inferiority complex, this phrase and others like it were carried into the society by debased male leaders. Treating females like pigs, as if their hair is nothing but pigtails, helps secure male dominance as they can push down the self-confidence of women, and continue to pave the way for more male domination, ensuring that females remain as objects of sensual enjoyment.
 
(g) 'Skin': Just as the meat-eating culture of the west had to get through the skin in order to get to the meat of slain animals, such persons infused the 'skin' term to refer to the peel of the fruit.

(h) She: The female pronoun “she” is used to refer to all kinds of inanimate objects like cars and boats to sensualize the expression. This appeals to male buyers whereby items for sale are described as “sexy.” The proper pronoun that should be used is “it.”

(i) ‘Livestock’: Animals are objectified and looked upon as one’s own personal property, just like a stock of rice or stock of grains.
 
Here Baba points out how lowly expressions in life lead one along the path of ultimate degradation.
 
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “If someone makes a sound like “ra, ra, ra – cha, cha, cha,” or if someone sings, “Follow my song! Let us sing and dance our way to hell,” these are sound inferences, but they carry a very crude idea.” (1)
 
 
Cause: lack of deeper thinking & spiritual values
 
The worst part is that this disease of language is unchecked and spreading around wherever materialism and capitalism surface. The two-fold root cause of this entire negative convention is:
 
(#1) The lustful thinking of a male dominated society that creates words to objectify and exploit females.
 
(#2) A superficial materialistic mentality where everything is based on selfish pleasure - where there is a distinct lack of deeper sentient thinking or higher spiritual values.

Unfortunately both of these outlooks are spreading all around the globe - wherever materialism and the ensuing pseudo-culture take root.

Language is a measuring rod of mindset
                   
In this way it is commonly seen that language is a reflection of the mental standard of any given community. The status of mind and style of speech are inseparably interlinked. And in this regard - even in the general society - there is a tremendous gap between oriental and occidental expression. As in the current era, the male-dominated materialism of the west has set its own subpar standard. The original culprit is materialism. Where materialism and sensual manners have taken hold - whether east, west, north, or south - language is adversely affected. Sentient expression gets replaced by more degrading terminology.
 
As we know language is a reflection of the attitudes, aims, and mental standard of the day. So when the male-dominated, sex-oriented materialism has been the driving force behind the development of the English language, it is no wonder why the simple term 'plug and socket' - denoting an electrical connection - gets expressed as 'male and female'.

Not only 'plug and socket', but there are various words and phrases in the English language which get switched over into such types of innuendos - just as such innuendos exist in other languages that have been affected by materialism and the resulting pseudo-culture expressions.
 
One of the worst victims of all this are females, although many other communities have also been intruded upon. All authored by a suppressive, male-run society operating on debased tendencies. And by this way the language has been fully coloured.
 
 
Goad motor sensory organs to the Supreme
 
As Ananda Margiis, knowingly we refrain from indulging in such ways of speaking yet as this disease is spreading uncontrollably wherever materialism and pseudo-culture gain the upper hand, we should also be vigilant not to let it land on the shores of our present Ananda Marga society. And ultimately we should rid it from the general society.
 
Yet, as Ananda Margiis we have to see this as an important issue. The yogic ideal is to goad all one's thoughts - as well as the ten motor and sensory organs - unto the Supreme. If any motor or sensory organ is not channeled in this direction then the mind will be adversely affected, i.e. degraded. That is Baba's warning: "Cakkhuna samvaro...Sádhu Vácáya Saḿvaro.” You should have control over your language... Whatever will have a bad effect on your mind, O good man, you must not hear it." This matter is of great importance as ultimately we are to help goad all unto the path of sadhana.
 
 
Conclusion

In His historic discourse, 'Renaissance In All the Strata of Life', Baba directs us that we are to guide the society and bring a renaissance in all the spheres of existence from language and linguistic expression to politics to economics to culture to spirituality and more. So language is also one key factor that should be purified, refined and made more sentient. Here following is Baba's call for a renewal in all the realms.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "“Cakśuńá Saḿvaro Sádhu” O spiritual aspirant! O Bhikśu! O monk! O devotee! You should have proper control over your eyes; whatever will have a bad effect on your mind, you must not see it. “Sádhu Sotena saḿvaro”. Whatever will have a bad effect on your mind, O good man, you must not hear it. “Ghánena Saḿvaro Sádhu.” You should have control over your nose, “Sádhu Jibháya Saḿvaro.” You should have control over your taste. “Káyena Saḿvaro Sádhu.” You should have control over your body. “Sádhu Vácáya Saḿvaro.” You should have control over your language also; and “Savvatha Saḿvaro Bhikśu.” If you want emancipation, if you want liberation from worldly fetters, you must have all-round restraint." Horribly unfortunate & unspeakable

In order to thrust various peoples into lowly categories and subject them to endless humiliation so as to break their spirit and make it easier to exploit them, the degraded  class in various countries like the US has invented countless degrading terms. In that way, nasty slang expressions and epithets, such as 'wetbacks', 'niggers', 'bitch' and the like, have been injected into the society in order to press down, embarrass, and dishonour various peoples and persons of the society. The whole scene is tragic and sickening to witness how a certain so-called elite sector of society ruthlessly has executed their exploitative tactics. It is horribly unfortunate & unspeakable that so many of our brothers and sisters around the globe are not getting proper respect - i.e. the respect deserved of a human being. We are all part of the same human family, all worthy of the same dignity and love. Per Baba's order it is our duty to remove such negativity from the society.

Your nearest One

In countless discourses, Baba has guided us to think that Parama Purusa is the nearest and dearest One. An aspirant should not think that Parama Purusa is distant or far. Otherwise, one will invite their extreme degeneration and ruin their spiritual life. Thinking that Parama Purusa is gone is very detrimental. It is 100% contrary to our life approach. Ananda Marga mantras give the idea: “Parama Purusa is with me.” Only avidya maya, viks'epta shatkti, says that Parama Purusa is far.

Ananda Marga ideology warns us, "If someone continually thinks, “Parama Purus'a is far from me”, then He will seem to be truly far from him...If in their ignorance people think that Parama Purus'a is far from them, then He may indeed remain for from them – so far that in future, even if one cries oneself hoarse, one’s cries will never reach Him." (1)

Rather the following should be the approach.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Tadihántike ca: Some people think, “No, Parama Purus'a is not far from me. He is quite near.”" (2)

It is one’s spiritual duty to always remember and cultivate the supreme truth that He is always with you. Remembering His close proximity is bhakti. This creation is His thought projection, and He is the nucleus. So He cannot be far, gone, or missing. It is philosophically and spiritually wrong to have a dogmatic annual death day program like so-called mahaprayan (MPD) that dictates that Baba is gone.

How anger hijacks the nervous system

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The fourth bad habit is krodha or anger. What is the nature of anger? When there is too much agitation in the nerve cells and nerve fibres, perhaps after thinking or hearing something, one is affected by krodha. When someone vexes you or humiliates you too much, your nerve cells become agitated. It may also be that no one has insulted or disturbed you, nor have they done anything to provoke you; yet simply thinking about a certain person your nerve cells get tremendously excited. Perhaps someone said something insulting to you as long as fifteen years ago. Even now, when you suddenly remember those words, your nerve cells get excited, your nerve fibres become restless, and you grow angry. As a result of anger, the whole body trembles, and the skin changes colour: one with a fair complexion becomes reddish, one with a black complexion becomes violet. (The Bengali word for anger is “rága”: rańj + ghaiṋ = rágá. In Saḿskrta, rága means to colour something. In Oria it is also “rága”). This is the effect of anger on the human body. Anger is the same everywhere. It occurs when the nerve cells fail to control the nerve fibres.” (1)

When was first democracy

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The first written constitution was framed by the Licchavi Dynasty of Vaeshali (in northern Bihar) in ancient India over 2500 years ago. Prior to that, the words of the king were law and kings ruled according to the advice of their ministers. The first republican democracy was established by the Licchaviis. The Licchavi Republic comprised some portion of Muzzaffarpur, portions of Begusharai, Samastipur and Hajipur between the Gandaka and Kamala rivers, all in the present state of Bihar. It was the first democratic state and they had their own written constitution." (1)

Strictly following the bhagavad dharma of Ananda Marga is ideal because it is based on rationality and universal well-being. But If someone is an adherent of harmful dogmatic teachings from the religions, then surely they are deadly. Here Baba points out the defective mind-set of such persons.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "It is very difficult to persuade religious bigots to follow the path of logic because according to them even to listen to others is a sinful act. This is nothing but mere sentiment. According to some religions beef eating is forbidden but the killing of deer and goats is permissible. This is totally irrational." (1)

In this age of reasoning, most are not convinced or drawn in by religions. Because religions do not follow the path of logic, so the good people just think such dogmatic teachings etc are outdated. For this reason the various religions are shrinking.

In comparison to a 100 years ago, religion on the whole is a much weaker force than it used to be. In the Middle Ages, millions were killed in the name of religion during the crusades. Today, however, religion is no longer the dominating influence in peoples' lives. Mostly it is just a namesake - i.e. something that people passively follow.

Most do not ardently adhere to the various religious rituals and mandates. People no longer base their lives on what the scriptures say. With the rise of science, people depend more on their logic and reasoning. They are no longer moved or swayed by irrational religious doctrines. Verily, religion is fading away in most parts of the globe.

Lambasting religions creates horrible backlash

If an overtly offensive attack is launched against those religions on the sentimental plane then there will be tremendous backlash. There will be a major uprising as waves of those followers will staunchly line up behind their religion.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Through such religions it is next to impossible to establish unity in the society. Religious differences should be minimized as much as possible, but it should be remembered that blind faith in a religion cannot be forcibly eliminated. To strike at any type of sentiment will only cause that sentiment to grow stronger." (2)

Why do we see - from time to time - profane language used by political leaders? Because of some political gain. This has happened time and again. It has happened in the past and will recur in the future. Intelligent people should always be alert and remain aware of such tactics. Those not in power incite tense situations to get the power and thereby create chaos in the society. This unfortunate maneuver occurs all around the globe. When we see such incidents it means some political gain is at stake. Those not in power want to come in power by escalating the situation and creating differences.

The key point here is that if we allow people to create religious conflicts by such ploys then fissiparous tendencies and divisive forces will rise and society will be torn apart. All remnants of peace will be gone. To lambaste any religion on sentimental grounds will only make matters worse. That is Baba's pointed warning. Religious leaders cannot say "use your brain" because the religions do not adhere to rational teachings.

So if we attack their religious sentiment by insulting them that will only invite a dogmatic resurgence of that religion. Everyone should be careful about this.

Psychological approach needed with religious followers

Here Baba outlines what our approach should be in order to create peace and harmony in the society.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "Psychological methods will have to be employed to make people realize the irrational nature of blind religious faith. This requires a rational interpretation of philosophy through enlightened intellect. When the human mind is gripped by the fear psychology it gives indulgence to blind faith rather than logic and reason. If human fear is removed through logic and reason, the very basis for blind faith will be weakened. That is why human beings will have to be taught philosophical doctrines in a rational way." (3)

We are to generate interest in logic and reasoning within the common people. Gradually those believers will begin to use their brain and that is the most opportune time to teach them. So logic and reasoning are our faithful tools to combat religious dogmas. Resorting to insulting behaviours and / or belittling their faith will not do.

In His teachings on neo-humanism, Baba guides us to fight against isms and dogmas with our logic and reasoning. And that logic and reasoning can only be successful if one has inherent love for all of humanity. Such persons are sadvipras. They only can wipe away dogmas and isms. Whereas, if politicians try to crush, suppress or push aside the religions they will fail. The communists tried that scheme but they could not smother those religions. Rather such religions flourished underground.

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "It should be remembered that there are certain differences in the society which should be taken into proper consideration. These differences are usually removed through natural fusion. It is not possible to eradicate them by force. When human beings come close to each other with a genuine feeling of unity, when they share the common joys and sorrows of life, those external differences gradually vanish as a matter of course. In the human society there are four main types of external differences: food, dress, language and religion." (4)

That is why Baba encourages inter-caste, inter-race, and international marriages. And indeed we see that in any metropolitan city around the globe where there is a wide representation of diverse ethnic groups living and working together, such as in New York, Sao Paulo, or Berlin, etc such types of heated social problems are much less.

We should rally around similarities not differences. We can also encourage rational philosophical discussions as that will clear up the minds of students.

Religions demands not using the brain

If we allow impulsive and fiery preachers to burn the Koran, Bible, Torah, Giita etc, then that will only ignite the flames of religious outcry and rebellion. That will be counter-productive.

The most detrimental aspect of religion is that people stop using their brain. In any era, country, or place where religion is very dominant, people are forced to blindly follow dogmatic edicts and keep away from rational analysis. In result, they degrade themselves to near animals.

This is not just limited to religious affairs, but in all spheres of life those believers become accustomed to blindly following certain politicians and radio show hosts. A leader declares: "Vote for this candidate", "support this proposition", "buy this product", and the people respond - blindly. So their habit to passively follow and obey - without using their brain or critical intellect - applies to social, political, and economic life as well. Verily that habit of not using their brain in other spheres of life is the byproduct of religion.

Everyone knows that the rational intellect is the unique quality of being human yet the religions mostly force people not to use their intellect - they stifle the entire method of free inquiry and open discussion. If we gradually encourage logic and reasoning - especially with youths - then gradually the hateful religions will be a relic of the past.

The rate at which religion is fading now is staggering; it is on a big downturn. We should raise the slogan of intellectual freedom and rational thinking. Then we can get success because religion does not allow such logic and reasoning. That is why Ananda Marga is working hard to establish educational and neo-humanistic institutions around the globe.

Respectful, philosophical debate, not attack religious sentiment

As margiis we should understand Baba's guideline for discussing the religions. In Ananda Marga, we appreciate healthy debates on philosophical grounds based on religious teaching and preachings.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Read any so-called religious book: one will seldom find anything resembling tolerance of the religious beliefs of others...If necessary, different views can be compared and presented in philosophical books. The philosophical and psychological loopholes in an argument may be pointed out without being disrespectful.” (5)

Hence we can respectfully speak about the loopholes of any of the religions in a very psychological manner. For instance in Christianity we can debate their positions on heaven, hell, and Satan etc, and with Hindus we can raise the point of idol worship etc. We can discuss why these things are right or wrong with regard to all the religions.

But these philosophical discussions should be carried out in a very respectful and dignified manner. There should not be an iota of hatred or disrespect towards any religion.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "Never attack the religious beliefs of anyone. Make the person understand gradually with logic. If you attack a person’s religious beliefs, it means you have attacked Ananda Marga." (6)

We do not support any type of attack on one's religious sentiments. That means no bible burning, no Koran burning, no destroying of idols, no wall writing about the religions using offensive language etc. It is fine to politely discuss the defects of idol worship, but we should not stand from afar and hurl rocks at those Hindu temples.

Debating the principles is very important, but we should not hurt their emotional or sentimental feelings towards their religion. That will only lead to social chaos and rouse the followers behind those religions. Because at that time their rational brain is not functioning, rather their ego and emotions are dominating. That is why the problems will escalate.


Use brain as to how far it is logically meaningful

The question comes: Why should we encourage philosophical debates? Because we believe in the liberation of intellect and free use of logic and reasoning. Before choosing any religion, one should use their brain to determine how far that religion is logically meaningful.

It is commonly seen in society that when people are buying things in the market they carefully consider how they should spend their money. But when committing their entire heart and emotional feeling to a certain religion then they do not use their brain. They do not question its veracity.

For instance, Hindus believe that if you hold the tail of a cow on the bank of the Ganges in Varanasi and pay a priest 50 rupees to recite the rituals for "godan puja", then you will go to eternal heaven and receive all kinds of luxuries and niceties. Likewise in Catholicism, if a follower confesses their sin and gives money to the priest then their sin is removed and a seat is reserved for them in heaven. And similar tactics are done in Islam and Judaism as well. Followers are led by tales and tall talks.

Such an approach is not good. Everyone should use their brain and logic and see how far it is rational to surrender to those religious beliefs and theories.

In any geographical region where education is prevalent, the grip of religious dogma is melting fast. But where people are not well educated, they are more prone to illogical beliefs, rituals and dogma. So education is very important. It should not be forgotten that even in a so-called first world nation like the US, 14% of the population is illiterate - they cannot read and comprehend the newspaper. We should work hard to raise the intellectual standard of all peoples in all countries - that will help promote an environment of all-round respect and cordiality.

Conclusion

With the rise of science, logic, and reasoning, the influence of religion is far less than it used to be. However, if anyone insults, taunts, and attacks any religion, then those blind religious followers will create an uproar.

As in the case of all key issues, as Ananda Margiis we should be crystal-clear about Baba's teaching. We should know our stand - i.e. the stand of Ananda Marga. If someone threatens to publicly burn the Bible or the Koran, or mocks Hindu idol worship etc, that is bad.

Baba has given us all the teachings to form a harmonious human society. We should pay heed to His guideline of not hurting anyone's religious sentiment nor should we try and forcefully root out any dogma by methods of suppression, repression, or terror. We are all one people - brothers and sisters - united under the loving shelter of one Supreme Entity. Whatever differences we have should be sorted out in a respectful, safe, and diplomatic manner.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "The more human beings live in unity, shoulder to shoulder, the greater the welfare of the human race will be. Let no one try to suppress others on the basis of nationality, language, religion or anything else in any sphere of life. Let the path of full expression of human intelligence be kept open forever." Should our Wts act / dance on stage?

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "An a'ca'raya or purodha' cannot actively participate in any acting." (1)

Note: Keeping Baba's above guideline in view, see the standard of certain Wts (acaryas and purodhas) who have acted on stage at various retreats and seminars. Every margii should be aware of the rules so that when something like this occurs they can come forward and help rectify the situation - thereby upholding Baba's teaching and the code of Caryacarya. Some purodhas were violating this rule in the past by singing and dancing rap music etc on stage at the annual overseas retreats etc - hopefully they have since mended their ways.

बाबा, मेरे मन-मयूर के पंख सैकड़ों लयों और तानों में नाचने लगते हैं। गूॅंगे लोगों को भी भाषा मिली है, और अब वे अलौकिक पुरुष  की ओर दौड़ रहे हैं। हे परमपुरुष! तुम बादलों के गर्जन और वर्षा के रूपमें यहाँ आ गये हो ।

We all know Baba has graciously come on this earth to spread His sublime ideals—i.e. the teachings of Ananda Marga ideology—to enable all human beings to progress. To achieve this, He needed to ensure that what He spoke was properly understood. For this reason, from the outset, He began educating us about the Saḿskrta language. Because Saḿskrta contains many of the words, phrases, and concepts needed to express the tenets of Ananda Marga ideology. To ensure those Saḿskrta words were properly understood, He clarified and expounded upon their meaning and usage. By this way, Saḿskrta became an integral part of the teachings of Ananda Marga ideology.

Saḿskrta is pervasive in our AM way of life

Baba has used Saḿskrta in so many unique ways in our Ananda Marga. He has put the Roman Saḿskrta alphabet in the beginning of every Ananda Marga book; He has made the system for giving everyone Saḿskrta names; He has given all mantras in Saḿskrta—as well as the vast majority of His sutras and shlokas. And Saḿskrta is used in all our social ceremonies like marriages and baby naming, as well as in all our collective spiritual gatherings & practices. And Sadguru Baba has carefully explained the meaning of countless Saḿskrta words—like bhakti, dharma, tantra, mantra, Ista etc—in His various discourses. Plus there are so many other examples how Baba has used Saḿskrta to put forth His Ananda Marga ideology. From 1955 up through 1990, Baba educated us about Saḿskrta so that we could develop a better understanding of His sublime ideals—as other languages did not have words to express what He wished to say.

That is why, early on, Baba explained about the importance of language in discourses like 'Expression and Symbolisation'. And that is why in countless discourses in Ananda Vacanamrtam and Subhasita Samgraha, Baba explains the meaning, derivation, and application of so many Saḿskrta words. A large number of His discourses begin in this very manner.

And then, later on, when a strong foundation of understanding Saḿskrta had already been established, Baba spoke in greater detail about Saḿskrta and its special relation with all the other languages around the globe. In His books Varńa Vijiṋána, Varńa Vicitra, and Shabda Cayaniká, and related discourses, Baba is explaining about Saḿskrta and its link with so many languages spoken on this earth, including French, Hebrew, Spanish, Urdu, Latin, Greek, English, Farsi, Russian, Tagalog, Hindi, almost all Indian languages, Bengali, Thai, Indonesian, and Angika, where Saḿskrta words are used abundantly etc.

Baba says, "There is a very close relationship between Vedic [old Saḿskrta] and all other classical languages of the world. If Vedic [old Saḿskrta] is properly nourished and encouraged it will encourage the unity of the world and a cordial relationship amongst human beings will develop." (1)

Baba says, “Saḿskrta is a classical subject as well as an ancient language. It is the mother of all the mother languages of South Asia and Southeast Asia. All North Indian languages and South Indian languages like Oriya, Marathii and Konkoni are of Saḿskrtic origin.” (2)

And, all of this was done for the greater goal of bringing unity on this struggle torn earth, not for highlighting any particular language per se.

How to best understand His sublime ideals

Baba's emphasis on language holds universal appeal as He is propagating Ananda Marga ideology, thus He wants for all the languages of the world to be expanded to best convey human thought and understanding. This He has encouraged in so many discourses and talks like, 'Expression and Symbolisation'.

Baba's teaching of Saḿskrta grew from the teaching of prefixes and suffixes to a full linguistic, historical, social, and cultural survey of Saḿskrta and how it relates to today's world based humanity—all so that everyone could best understand His sublime ideals of Ananda Marga.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "India is one and indivisible...Let Sam'skrta be the national language, as this will provide equal opportunity to all." (4)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "At the time of initiation or shortly afterwards, those who do not have a Saḿskrta name should be given one by the A'carya." (5)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "The Saḿskrta name should be used in all worldly dealings." (6)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "I am using Sam'skrta slokas and not Pa'li because Pa'li may not be intelligible to you. Sam'skrta is better understood. That is why I am using Sam'skrta slokas." (7)

Some think that Shabda Cayaniká is wholly focused on the Bengali language. And they have similar thoughts with regards to Varńa Vijiṋána and Varńa Vicitrá. When, in reality, in those publications, Baba has dedicated approximately 90% of His book to artfully recounting stories and tales, and also discussing topics like geology, archaeology, local and world history, geography, sociology, literature etc. So truly speaking, 90% of the material in those books (Shabda Cayaniká, Varńa Vijiṋána, and Varńa Vicitrá) is not about grammar or any particular language per se, but rather wholly unique stories and tales, and topics like geology, archaeology, local and world history, geography, sociology, literature etc. 

And in the remaining 10% of those series that is about grammar, of that maybe only 10% or 15% is about the Bengali language, and the far larger portion (i.e. 85% —90% of the grammar aspect) is about Saḿskrta and the various classical languages of the world. So the fact stands that only about 1% or 2% of the entire publication is about the Bengali language, and a far greater emphasis has been placed on Saḿskrta and other classical languages (8% or 9%), and topics of human understanding (90%) like history, geology, archaeology etc.

Our aim: propagate Guru’s teachings

True disciples have no other aim in life than to highlight Guru's teachings. Only our goal is to propagate the Ananda Marga which Guru has given. This is our sole reason for coming on this earth. Only we should propagate the true Ananda Marga which Baba has given. Our special endeavour is to propagate what He spoke in its original form because the very words which Guru spoke are mantra for us and that alone can lead humanity into the golden era.

Baba says, "Finally one must remember, Mantramu'lam' Guruva'kyam." (9)

Raising truthful children

   Ananda philosophy states, “Today parents may rightly say, “We have almost no vital energy left after exchanging blows and counter-blows with life. We have no chance to mould the minds of our children with the care and tenderness of our hearts. All the sweetness and finer sensibilities of our minds have been sucked dry by the harsh realities of life. How can we take care of our children? We cannot even provide them with proper food and clothing. How can we know what they are thinking? Do we have the time to understand anything properly at all? We know children should be taught through the medium of play and entertainment, both at home and outside, but is it possible for us to do that? We even have to disturb our talented son at his studies to send him to the grocer’s to buy salt, cooking oil, spices, etc. We know it is wrong, but there is no alternative, for keeping a servant is beyond our means.”"
   "There may be some truth in this, but it is not the point at issue here. In order to develop a healthy outlook, the most important thing children need is robust idealism. To impart this, parents require only two virtues: self-restraint and good judgement. Let us discuss good judgement first."
   "When the parents are about to go on a trip or go to a show, or when they are invited to a pleasant function or a social outing, the children may start whining or nattering to accompany them. At such times many parents tell lies without a qualm; somehow they dupe their children and leave. When the children realize what has happened, they also learn to tell lies; and to hide their intentions or their actions from their parents, they gradually start lying more and more." (1)

Note: Without realising it, parents teach their children both good things and bad things. Being an ideal parent is not easy. Unknowingly parents often teach their children the ways of lies and deception.

How intellectual knowledge is useless

Ananda Marga ideology says, "People wish to know everything but the human cranium is small, and the brain even smaller. So how much can one know? Also whatever one learns today one forgets tomorrow. Yes, one who was a Mahámohapádháya, a pandit, would no longer be able to remember the “sabdarupa” of “Nara” if after leaving his or her original occupation he or she became engaged in agricultural work. This is the situation that usually happens. So the main thing is “know all – know one”. What is the use of reading and forgetting so many books? If one reads more books one will forget more things and make more mistakes. So what is the use? No permanent benefit is derived from being a book-worm. I encourage the general education – laokika education – so that people can understand the shallowness of laokika knowledge.” (1)

Note 1: Laokika / worldly knowledge: Anything related with the relative world - i.e. all the facts and figures related with this ever-changing expressed universe whether they be mathematical theories, political treatises. All these things fall within the realm of laokika / worldly knowledge.

Note 2: In His above divine teaching, Baba guides us that intellectual progress is meaningless in the absence of spirituality. Only self-realisation is the real knowledge. When one does sadhana and studies dharmic scriptures then one realises how intellectual knowledge is completely futile for attaining perfect peace and eternal happiness. Whereas by atma-jinana (self-realisation) one will automatically know the 'ins' and 'outs' of everything. That is why knowing oneself is the real knowledge. Know one, know all.

Note 3: It is not impossible to satiate the heart with worldly knowledge since the human heart can only be satiated with the divine bliss attained through sadhana. But just talking about sadhana the whole day also will not bring eternal peace and happiness; one has to do sadhana. For example memorizing all the facets of srsti cakra (cycle of creation) will not lead to true spiritual realisation. For that one must perform meditation - sadhana.

Final Note: The grand conclusion of Baba's above teaching is that the reason why intellectual knowledge is highly needed is so that one can understand its uselessness and futility.

How different vibrations affect us

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The stamina to stand vibrations differs in different people. Hence various degrees of happiness or sorrow are experienced by different people, and these differences depend on their respective mental constitutions. The subtle causes of these different mental constitutions are their acquired samskáras or reactive momenta, and the crude causes are their nerve cells, nerve tissues, glandular secretions, etc. The sudden vibrational impact on the body and mind makes the mind react violently, resulting in the cessation of the cardiac functions. This also explains the death of a person struck by lightning. The sudden contact of the eyes with an extremely dazzling radiance often results in the total impairment of vision. If we look directly at the brilliant sun for a few moments, our visual power becomes temporarily stunned and we cannot see anything for some time. Similarly, when some very high pitched or loud sound strikes the eardrum, the power of hearing may be destroyed. The sensitivity of every organ may be suspended by the impact of any violent vibration; this stupefaction, if the intensity of the vibrational impact is very great, may even become permanent. Yet sometimes powerful vibrations may help stimulate and restore the power of organs which have not been functioning for years. You must have heard of a person who had been blind or deaf and dumb since his childhood, regaining the lost power of his impaired organs in his latter years either by stroke of lightning or by being suddenly informed of an extremely happy or sad news." (1)
