Marriage: two key clarifications + 4 more

Baba

Marriage: two key clarifications

Namaskar,

In our Ananda Marga, the role and status of marriage is very clear. In defining marriage, Sadguru Baba debunks (#1) an age-old religious dogma and (#2) refutes a present-day materialistic trend.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

#1: Debunks age-old dogma of brahmacarya

The priest class long maintained that sadhana is beyond the reach of family people because they are involved in conjugal relations. Such dogmatic priests preached that the practice of celibacy (brahmacarya) was a requirement for doing sadhana - thus family people could not do sadhana. This was the dogma they imposed on the common people.

In His teachings, Sadguru Baba has addressed this dogma of brahmacarya by putting forth the correct meaning. In Ananda Marga, brahmacarya means introverting the mind and embracing Brahma as the only ideal of life. Thus brahmacarya does not mean leading a celibate life.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Brahmacarya is the other fear which deters many from practising sádhaná. They consider Brahmacarya to merely mean celibacy or giving up of one's physical relationship with one's husband or wife. They are misled by the popular belief that it is otherwise not possible to perform intuitional practice (sádhaná). It is thus necessary to know the correct meaning of Brahmacarya and also know whom one should regard as a Brahmacárii. Brahmacarya means to introvert the extroversial tendencies of the mind and to devote it completely to Brahma." (1)

Next, Baba establishes the fact that family people have every right and ability to practice sadhana.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "It is not necessary to give up one's conjugal life in order to begin intuitional practice. The attraction towards earthly things born out of lust (káma) and attachment (moha) makes conjugal relations a necessity. Intuitional practice helps one to overcome this need. One becomes indifferent to it. So the question of giving it up for intuitional practice does not arise. It was said earlier that sádhaná is waging war against Prakrti and defeating Her. The force of intuitional practice is certainly greater than the strength of Prakrti, and by means of it one can attain Brahmacarya. However strong may be the domination of Avidyámáyá, it can always be destroyed by intuitional practice. Intuitional practice, not taking a vow of celibacy, is essential if one is to become a Brahmacárii." (2)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "Marriage is not a hindrance to dharma sádhaná; rather, marriage is a dhármika ceremony." (3)

So by all of the above, Baba (a) disposes of the dogmatic idea that brahmacarya means celibacy, (b) guides us that brahmacarya means seeing all as the expression of Supreme, and (c) states that family people can and should practice dharma sadhana.

#2: Marriage is between a man and a woman

In this next section, it is clear that in Ananda Marga marriage is the joining of a male and female - not members of the same sex.

Nowadays, in the west, the so-called open-minded, liberal thinkers have embraced same sex-sex marriage. That is the growing trend. It could be that some margiis have also been affected by their views. But we should strictly adhere to Guru's guideline. Namely, marriage is a ceremony and an institution between a man and a woman. That is exactly how Baba describes marriage in this below section

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "To slay the disarmed, to slaughter women, children or old people, to murder those who had surrendered or to kill those running away for their lives from a fight went against the grain of kśatriya conscience. In essence, the valour of the kśatriyas was instrumental in their surpassing the animal stratum as they learnt to understand human values. It was this sense of values that raised conjugal and domestic life to human standard to a great extent. Instead of conjugal relations being limited to the status of enjoyer and the enjoyed, they began to contain a sense of duty. With the establishment of conjugal relationships a sense of duty awakened in the father towards his children. Consequently, as soon as the responsibilities of mothers lessened to some extent, women became dependent on men for their food and clothes, particularly during the period of pregnancy and during the post-delivery period. As a result, married couples, though belonging to the same group, began to emerge in previously male-centred households. As families were male-centred, male-dominated groups became evident and clan mothers lost their previous authority." (4)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "If the boy and the girl settle their marriage themselves, it is proper for the guardians to give their consent." (5)

And not just in the above but in countless places Baba states that in Ananda Marga the husband is a male and the wife is the female. He makes no mention or reference of this changing in any way. In contrast, Baba does guide us that in certain specific situations polygamy may be a dharmic practice such as during wartime when there are significantly less males than females etc. But never does Baba give any credence to sex for sex sake - as that is just animal life - nor does He give any reason or support to anything about same sex marriage.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Summary

By this easy two-step theorem we can understand that marriage is a dharmic way of life where both husband and wife have the right to practice dharma sadhana. And second, marriage in Ananda Marga means the marital union between a man and a woman.

Prout: bill of rights

Prout philosophy states, “The formation of a World Government will require a world constitution. A charter of principles or bill of rights should be included in such a constitution and encompass at least the following four areas. First, complete security should be guaranteed to all the plants and animals on the planet. Secondly, each country must guarantee purchasing power to all its citizens. Thirdly, the constitution should guarantee four fundamental rights – spiritual practice or Dharma; cultural legacy; education; and indigenous linguistic expression. Fourthly, if the practice of any of these rights conflicts with cardinal human values then that practice should be immediately curtailed. That is, cardinal human values must take precedence over all other rights. All the constitutions of the world suffer from numerous defects. The above points may be adopted by the framers of different constitutions to overcome these defects.” (1)

Beleaguered mental outlook

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Those who are egotistic will not accept their mistake even when they discover it. They will say, “You see, it seems I made a mistake and So-and-so has pointed it out. This is a great insult to me – I cannot tolerate it! Though he may have spoken the truth, it is beneath my dignity to accept it. It is too humiliating! If I even admit that I have harmed the people, that will be a great slur on my character – how can I allow that to happen? So I will continue to maintain that what I have done is right. This may harm people, but I must make sure that my prestige is not injured.” (1)

Cause and solution of monotony of life

Introduction

Due to lack of higher goal if a small problem arises, people get frustrated and lose interest in life. Those without a spiritual goal and do not have higher values in life and get overwhelmed by when confronted with a terminal illness or when some bad event happens. For human welfare, the propagation of spirituality is highly important. If there is a higher goal then people will not commit suicide.

Baba's Original Guideline

English Translation

Involving in mundane thinking and worldly works all day long brings monotony. Those who do not practice sadhana in their old age say, "Now it is better to die." Those lacking in spiritual practice, even in the tender young age, if they are emotionally hurt or they anticipate feeling mentally hurt, commit suicide. Why? According to applied psychology, I would say they don't have any higher pursuits; hence, the feeling of monotony consumes their mind.

Now, what is the way to prevent such monotony? The objective counterpart of the mind should have such an object which is infinite. That means, coming in contact with such an infinite object of ideation, people will never harbor feelings of monotony - not in any case. That object [Parama Purusa] is ever new, newer and newest. Parama Purusa is that entity who is ever new, always new. Therefore, it is the duty of every person to do spiritual practice to prevent any feelings of monotony in life. For spiritual progress, certainly it is the duty of everyone to do sadhana.  And indeed it is your duty to do sadhana to protect yourself from the monotony of life.

Sordid way of life + 4 more

Baba
Sordid way of life

Note: The following letter is for those who have realised that nothing mundane can bring lasting pleasure. Eternal bliss can only be attained by coming in close contact with Parama Purusa.

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga is the path of bliss – the path of infinite pleasure. "Ananda" means infinite pleasure or bliss; and "marga" means path. By its very name then, the term Ananda Marga denotes that this is the path to follow to reach the place where there is no pain or suffering. The aspirant will be in the abode of infinite pleasure. This infinite pleasure or bliss is not attainable through worldly activities like sexual indulgence, and drugs etc.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Everything in this material world is limited and ephemeral. One cannot derive lasting pleasure from animal sex or drug activity. If one eats and eats, the stomach will become so bloated that one cannot take another bite, but still the mind desires to eat more; it is not satisfied. There is even one case where a patient ate so much that his stomach burst. At that time his request to the doctor was, "Please stitch it so that I can eat more." Still he was not satisfied. Same is the case with degrading activities, drug addiction, or  sexual indulgences. One cannot fulfill their infinite longing through these finite means.

Materialism itself is a faulty philosophy that preaches how one can be satisfied by worldly indulgence. But this is a defective notion. Materialism does not consider that human desire is infinite and cannot be satisfied through worldly means. Based on this wrong and defective platform, such materialists support all kinds of dirty activities which destroy the body and mind, such as drinking, smoking, lesbian & gay & bisexual perverted sex, sex with animals & plants (dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, donkeys etc.), and all kinds of harmful indulgences. Such degrading activities are not only allowed but welcomed in materialism.

Filth of materialism vs purity of Ananda Marga

It should be said: This materialistic philosophy is defective and utopian. The followers are misguided and think that by sex one can achieve infinite pleasure. With that faulty notion, all kinds of dealing like gay relations, sex with animals, and various types of nasty activities are permitted in hopes of being satisfied. They believe happiness can be attained by running after finite, selfish pleasures, but in so doing they end up ruining themselves.

In reality, sane people realise that there is nothing in this worldly sphere that can bring infinite pleasure. No matter how much sex one does, one will never be satiated – always one wants to do more. Same is the case with drinking and drugs etc.

The path of Ananda Marga is completely different. It is based on the understanding that human longing is infinite and can never be satisfied by finite worldly indulgences. Only that infinite Divine Entity can satisfy human longing. According to Ananda Marga philosophy, we are to divert all longing toward the Supreme and ultimately become one with Parama Purusa. We live to please and serve Him and attain permanent peace, and not plunge ourselves in fleeting, sinful vices like sex with animals etc (dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, donkeys etc.), lesbian or gay or bi-sexual relations, or perverted sex etc.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ananda Marga philosophy is the path of infinite pleasure where the mind is channelised towards the Supreme.

Everyone should know this very clear-cut guideline. If someone has reached into Ananda Marga without knowing this then they should think again.

Who is true Ananda Margii

Suppose someone is a member of the bar (law) association: To join one must have a law degree and follow the code of conduct. Not just anyone can join; those not practicing law are not part of the bar association. Furthermore, one must adhere to the ethics and principles of the bar, otherwise they will no longer be part of the bar association. Same is the case with Ananda Marga: So long as one follows the tenets as given by Baba, then that person is an Ananda Margii, otherwise not. It is a very straightforward equation.

Having attraction for the same-sex is not appreciated and should not be encouraged, - neither physically, nor mentally. Rather that desire should be diverted toward spiritual attainment; it should be goaded towards Parama Purusa. Just as an ideal widower, divorcee, single margii, or a renunciant goads any desire for the opposite sex towards the spiritual realm and the attainment of Parama Purusa. Remember, physically indulging in sleazy, same-sex relations and mentally harboring this desire are both against the Ananda Marga way of life and detrimental to one’s spiritual progress.

Some people think accepting gay relations is equated with being open-minded. In that case, in the general society all kinds of things should be accepted in the name of open-mindedness like prostitution, animal sex like - dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, donkeys etc. Accepting gay relations is not an isolated case. Here we have to remember this topic is a matter of bhagavata dharma. That is the measuring rod of Ananda Marga philosophy. Accepting vices like animal sex etc and gay relations is not broad-mindedness, but rather lowly mindedness.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Degraded people don’t want to understand this

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Love (divine) and passion are mutually antagonistic tendencies. The attachment for a finite thing is an expression of extroverted energy, whereas the attraction for the Infinite is an expression of the introverted energy. That is why these two can never coexist. Therefore the aspirant has to skillfully to transform passion into love (divine)." (1)

Ananda Marga is the path of introversial movement towards the Divine; it is not the path of sensuality and lust. These two opposites cannot co-exist. They are mutually exclusive. Either one may goad their mind towards Parama Purusa, or they may plunge themselves into animal propensities. There is no scope to do both. That is why there is no option for leading a gay / homosexual lifestyle in Ananda Marga. Because a gay lifestyle is based on the baser propensities - sex for sex sake. Every dedicated Ananda Margii will easily grasp this point - it is a matter of simple mathematics - nothing more. But those who are low-minded and indulged in satisfying those propensities don’t want to understand. They will always give their selfish justification. That is why it is said that until the mind reaches a particular level, one doesn’t want to assimilate the teachings of Ananda Marga ideology.

Note: If you think sex is everything – i.e. the summum bonum of life – and not Parama Purusa, then you need not read this.

How to control sensual proclivities

Ananda Marga ideology states, "In this sádhaná of stabilising the citta the meaning of progress is to gradually cleanse every kośa of its impurities. When kámamaya kośa is stabilized, the citta will follow the dictates of the manomaya kośa and will not be swayed by the lower propensities, by sensual proclivities. Then again, when manomaya kośa becomes tranquil the citta will be free from the influence of kamamaya kośa." (2)

Here Baba is giving the guideline that the mind must be cleansed - all layers of the mind must be purified. The way to do this is by goading the mind towards Parama Purusa. This is one of the most fundamental aspects of yoga. Yet all those plunged in sensual pursuits like homosexuality & gay living are moving headlong towards their base propensities.

As the mind is purified it becomes free of the baser allurements. This is a clear-cut indication of one's progress along the path of Supreme benevolence.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Gay life: dominance of beastly propensities

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The fact is that the creatures advance, in the flow of pratisaincara, along a systematic path. Human beings are just the most evolved creatures, but those human beings who are just evolving from animal life are still very near the borderline between animal and human life. So although they have human bodies, their thoughts, recollections and behaviour remain similar to those of animals to some extent; their existence is full of animal propensities, they have little spiritual awareness, and they are propelled mostly by lower propensities. They do not want to hear good words; even if they hear they do not want to understand; and even if they want to understand, they cannot." (3)

In His above teaching, Baba is addressing the gay / lesbian community, and others who are besieged by sensual proclivities and indulgent pleasures etc. The members of these groups have their own justifications for why they do what they do. They never want to listen to anything dharmic. Just they are engrossed in their own desires. Such persons are very close to animals. So they don’t want to understand Ananda Marga ideology.

In so many discourses, Baba guides us that Ananda Marga is the path of humanity unto divinity - not animality. This concept is utterly lost on those advocates and members of the gay and lesbian community.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Just as Ananda Margiis do not consider drug addicts and meat-eaters to be Ananda Margiis, and, just as Ananda Marga philosophy does not consider those involved in extramarital relations and dealings with prostitutes to be Ananda Margiis, similarly, Ananda Marga philosophy cannot consider those engaging in indulgent sexual activity, like same-sex relations, to be Ananda Margiis. Because their way of living is not consistent with Ananda Marga ideals. So the matter is very simple.

Ananda Margiis love sinners but not their sin

So again we should remind ourselves that entry into Ananda Marga is not based on birth, but rather conduct. The only way to be an Ananda Margii is by one’s day to day dealing. If one cannot follow the conduct of our Ananda Marga way of life then they are not a margii.

Ananda Vanii says, "Your ideal is represented by your conduct. Your learning, your social or economic status have nothing to do with your ideal." (4)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Dharma is the assemblage of all your conduct” – the way you eat, the way you speak, the way you perform sa'dhana'. If your conduct is good, dharma is with you; if your conduct is not good, dharma is not with you. And if dharma is not with you, what comes about is your sarvana'sha, or sarva'tmaka vina'sha – that is, your physical, mental, and spiritual ruin....Conduct is the principal factor in dharma.” Be a sadácárii, a person of good conduct, and you will surely attain Paramátman." (5)

So only when one’s conduct is according to the ideals and tenets of Ananda Marga ideology can one be considered as an Ananda Margii. And in Ananda Marga there is no scope or support of gay relations. Rather, sexual relation is for procreation not for carnal lust; thus there is no recourse for gay / lesbian relations. Those who contravene this ideal are not Ananda Margiis.

But it does not mean that those who cannot or do not follow Ananda Marga ideals are not our brothers and sisters. Ananda Margiis love everyone – all humans irrespective of their gender or sexual indulgence, or any other quality. Ananda Margiis love everyone: Diseased persons, healthy persons, serial killers, degraded persons, and sex addicts – all human beings, as well as all kinds of animals and plants. Ananda Margiis love all as they are the progeny of Parama Purusa. Parama Purusa loves all, but that does not mean that all are Ananda Margiis. To be an Ananda Margii, one must follow the code of conduct. There is no other way.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “Such fraudulent philosophies have diverted many people from the path of morality and left them devoid of dharma, addicted to carnal pleasures – infernal creatures.” (6)

Namaskar,
in Him,
Svarnarekha’

This letter is for all humans who lead degraded  life.

This letter is related with all gay, including LGBT, activities – as well as those sexually engaged with animals. Ananda Margiis love everyone – all humans irrespective of their gender or sexual indulgence, or any other demerits. Ananda Margiis love everyone: Diseased persons, healthy persons, serial killers, and sex addicts – all human beings (virtuous, great people; good; and bad), as well as all kinds of animals and plants, even poisonous snakes. Ananda Margiis love all as they are the progeny of Parama Purusa.

Summary

Essentially there are two key points to bear in mind:
  • (1) Membership in Ananda Marga is based on conduct, not birth;
  • (2) Ananda Marga is the path of Supreme Beatitude, not mundane indulgence.

Ananda Marga ideology, "Human life is for spiritual sádhaná only. There is not, there cannot be, any other motive; there cannot be any other intention; there cannot be any other desideratum." (7)

One of the top logics

~ Courtesy of AgendaEurope ~

https://agendaeurope.wordpress{dot}_com/2015/02/16/_why-homosexuality_sodomy-should-no-longer-remain-a-taboo/

Dr Gigg gives a good explanation why gay sex, specifically [rectal entry], is so unnatural, unhealthy and harmful:
"[Rectal dealings play a prominent role in the relationship] for many gay men. Yet human physiology makes it clear that the body was not designed to accommodate this activity. The rectum is significantly different from the [female reproductive organ] with regard to suitability  by a [male organ]. The [female reproductive organ] is supported by a network of muscles. It is composed of a mucus membrane with a multi-layer stratified squamous epithelium that allows it to endure friction without damage and to resist the immunological actions caused by [glandular secretions]. In comparison, the [rectum] is a delicate mechanism of small muscles that comprise an "exit-only" passage. With repeated trauma, friction and stretching, the sphincter loses its tone and its ability to maintain a tight seal. Consequently, [gay activities] lead to leakage of fecal material that can easily become chronic. (Many gays have to wear a pad because of this leakage!) of feces.

The potential for injury is exacerbated by the fact that the intestine has only a single layer of cells separating it from highly vascular tissue, that is, blood. Therefore, any organisms that are introduced into the rectum have a much easier time establishing a foothold for infection than they would in a [female reproductive organ]. The single layer tissue cannot withstand the friction associated with [male organ] resulting in traumas that expose both participants to blood, organisms in feces, and a mixing of bodily fluids.

The end result is that the fragility of the [rear] and rectum, along with the immunosuppressive effect of [engagement], make [this type of gay relations] a most efficient manner of transmitting HIV and other infections. The list of diseases found with extraordinary frequency among male homosexual practitioners as a result of [rectal] intercourse is alarming.

~ Courtesy of Homosex info ~

http:// www.homo_sex_info.org/Sexuality/ AnalEroticism
Gay bowel syndrome refers to some combination of intestinal or anorectal infection/trauma among male homosexuals. Homosexuals do not like this phrase, and note that gay bowel syndrome “is neither gay-specific, confined to the bowel, nor a syndrome.”(1)However, this phrase was coined by some physicians in response to a “clinical pattern of anorectal and colon diseases encountered with unusual frequency” in homosexual men in New York City in 1976. These authors noted that in a sample of 260 homosexual men, “The clinical diagnoses in decreasing order of frequency include condyloma acuminata, hemorrhoids, nonspecific proctitis, anal fistula, perirectal abscess, anal fissure, amebiasis, benign polyps, viral hepatitis, gonorrhea, syphilis, anorectal trauma and foreign bodies, shigellosis, rectal ulcers and lymphogranuloma venereum.”

http:// www.homo_sex_info.dot.org/Change /HomePage
To avoid soiling of clothes, homosexuals with mild problems are advised to use a menstrual-type pad in the back of their underwear to absorb moisture and waste. Homosexuals with big buttocks require a fluffed-up cotton ball, or an anal plug, placed against the anal opening, together with a pad to help absorb moisture throughout the day.

Ananda Marga ideology, "Human life is for spiritual sádhaná only. There is not, there cannot be, any other motive; there cannot be any other intention; there cannot be any other desideratum." (8)

Gays indulge in earthly degradation

Ananda Marga philosophy, “The objects of earthly enjoyment are created under the influence of the static principle of Prakrti, and one regards them as real due to the dominance of Avidyámáyá, which also makes people enjoy these earthly objects. Intuitional practice gradually reduces the dominance of Avidyámáyá, and then the mind is also diverted towards subtle things. Crude worldly pleasures and enjoyments lose their attraction. The longing for worldly objects (káma), the attraction for them (moha), and avarice (lobha) – the three principles of Avidyámáyá – make these seem desirable, but with the waning of the influence of these three, the mind will no longer desire them. Ordinarily the mind delights in the enjoyment of worldly pleasures and regards giving them up a torture, but when the mind no longer likes them, the question of giving them up does not arise.” (9)

Remember, that sex is not for enjoyment but for procreation. Those following gay dealings are just indulging in deviant degradation where there is zero scope for procreation.

Lamp of love and affection

"Vishva ke jato chandáyiita suśamár ráshi diyecho d́háli..." (Prabhat Samgiita #2389)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, You have poured an extensive and abundant amount of rhythmic beauty into this whole universe. You have given so much. With the beautiful resonance of the viina and the sweetness of my mental musical instrument, with honour I receive You with the lit jewel lamp of love and affection.

Parama Purusa, Baba, I have nothing more to ask for; whatever I have received from You, I want to utilise for all-round fulfilment. Due to inherent weaknesses of the general intellect, ego, vanity, dogma creeps into the mind. Lord, please fill my heart with bhakti so I may not lose this tray of enriched, spiritual wealth, which You have graciously bestowed upon me.

Human beings have received so much from Parama Purusa, yet they continue to ask for more and more material things from Him. Their infinite hunger remains unsatiated. After throwing everything they have already obtained from Parama Purusa into the dust, i.e. misutilizating or not utilizing His divine gifts, human beings just think about their own hunger and want more and more mundane things. It is their ignorance...

Mass education needed for revolution

Prout philosophy states,  “A leader of the Maethilii community in Bihar wanted to start a movement against the exploitation of the Maethilii language, so he organized a massive rally and started to lecture the people about the suppression of Maethilii. Initially, everyone listened to him attentively and supported his ideas. At the end of his address he told the masses: “We will live for Maethilii, we will die for Maethilii.” But one person amongst the crowd shouted out: “Yes, we will live for Maethilii, but why should we die for Maethilii? Rather, I choose to die in Kashi.” According to mythology, if one dies in Kashi one goes to heaven. Immediately all the people started supporting this view, and as a result the meeting was disturbed. This happened because the people were not conscious of the suppression of their mother tongue, and they followed the path of religious dogma instead. So, you should ensure that these three cardinal socio-political principles are not violated. By doing this you will safeguard the welfare of society.” (1)

What is the greatest criterion of a truly righteous person

The Propounder of Ananda Marga philosophy states, “I have already said that the task of intellect is to properly utilize all the properties of the universe, of the expressed world. But there are some selfish people in the world who are not in favour of the maximum utilization of mundane wealth, because they fear the control of the developed intellect over the material forces; and selfish people do not like that. They do not want anyone except themselves or a handful of their own group to attain any progress. Rather they would be happy to see that the individual and collective progress of others gets jeopardized.”

….

“Self-seeking people do not want the collective intellect of the human race to be utilized for the welfare of the entire human race; rather they, in the name of humanity, want to perpetuate divisive tendencies in society, because if they succeed in creating a rift in human society, that will pave the way for their personal benefit or self-aggrandizement. Thus they concoct various so-called scriptures and formulate all kinds of logic. They maintain to humanity that the different races in this world are not equal. Thus instead of considering the interests of the entire human society, they give preference to the interests of a particular community. This loud-mouthed propaganda in favour of a particular community, this parading of irrational logic, this sort of fallacious argument, all combine to stifle the spontaneous growth of human intellect. This sort of mentality is called dogma. “

“A person who wants to promote others’ welfare, a person who wants to serve the entire humanity, must keep away from dogma. In addition to that, he or she will have to staunchly resist dogma. It is not enough to keep away from something which is considered a veritable sin, it is not enough to lodge only verbal protest against sin – one will have to against it. This is the greatest criterion of a truly righteous person." (1)
