Baba
Danger by science
Namaskar,
In the present era, many have a misunderstanding about science and its application. Generally, people think that modern day science has achieved the highest stature, and that it is the crowning glory of life, as it has led us out of the dark ages of religious dogma etc. They conclude that we should therefore follow the current course of scientific pursuits.
Baba guides us that for science to become society's great asset some prerequisites are necessary. The control of science must be in the hands of sadvipras. Otherwise, science has a disastrous effect on humanity. In addition, civilization and science should work in complementary fashion. That means science should be controlled by civilised human beings. Without this, the misuse of science will do terrible harm to humanity. Unfortunately, in this present era, science is controlled by capitalists who manipulate science for their own selfish ends, to the detriment of the common mass.

According to Ananda Marga philosophy, a person is civilised if their action and overall conduct is supported by logic, reasoning, and rationality.
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "We may call those human acts and behaviour civilized that give evidence of this discriminative judgement, in a great measure." (1)
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "I would say, the greater the support of judgement in action and behaviour, the better shall be the expression and development of civilization." (2)
Scientific "advancement" in present era
In this present era of material science, so-called achievements come in two main ways:
1. New and newer weapons for destroying and killing others;
2. luxurious items for the rich.
Tragically, many fields of scientific inquiry have been neglected. Scientists have not gotten the scope to research and solve problems like providing the minimum requirements to each and every individual on this earth.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
And throughout the globe starvation is quite common and even rampant in some areas. Needless to say this is not a glorifying image of science and its achievement.
The root cause is that science is controlled by degraded people. When in fact science should be under the direct control of sadvipras and civilisation should have the upper hand over science. These following teachings lead in that direction.
[A] Ananda Marga philosophy says, "In the present age, civilization is on the wane due to science enjoying the pride of place. But developed as science is today, if civilization is pushed up again to the top, people can reach a greater height than ever before." (3)
[B] Ananda Marga philosophy states, "What is science? That which teaches the proper use of material things is science. Where the development of civilization is utterly negligible and science gradually attains the apogee of development, science only paves the way for destruction instead of doing any good to humanity. And so, study and practice of science, though unavoidable, should not be given a higher place than civilization." (4)
[C] Ananda Marga philosophy says, "For human progress the cultivation of science must always be welcomed, but it is desirable that this cultivation of science should be carried out under the supervision of sadvipras." (5)
According to Ananda Marga philosophy, a person is civilised if their action and overall conduct is supported by logic, reasoning, and rationality.
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "We may call those human acts and behaviour civilized that give evidence of this discriminative judgement, in a great measure." (6)
Serious concerns about today's science
And here further Baba reviews issues of science in the present era.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
[D] Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "Today the materialist scientists of the world have become the objects of fear for the human race, lest they invent and produce various types of lethal bombs." (7)
[E] Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "So we see that science is indispensable for human progress, and without it half the population of the world would die of starvation." (8)
[F] Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Nowadays science means creating new weapons - strengthening the hands of war-mongers; but the spirit of science should not be like this, and at the start, in the primordial phase of human life, it was not so. Yes, there is necessity of weapons - weapons not for strengthening the hands of warmongers, but for providing security for good ideas, good thoughts and good persons." (9)
According to Ananda Marga philosophy, a person is civilised if their action and overall conduct is supported by logic, reasoning, and rationality.
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "We may call those human acts and behaviour civilized that give evidence of this discriminative judgement, in a great measure." (10)

So when material science is off the mark on these points then how far can we adjust with their viewpoints - thereby sacrificing the ideals of AM. All in all it is evident that material science is far below the high standard of Ananda Marga philosophy.
Namaskar,
In Him,
Paramasukha
How our Marga towers over material science
As Ananda Margiis we understand that material science is in a very primitive stage. Here following is some review.
1. Material science wrongly states that the building blocks of life are carbonic structures. But our microvita philosophy says that the basic building block is microvita. It is microvita which is the basis of life.
2. Each and every margii practices fasting without water and has experienced how beneficial it is. But present day medical science discards this idea; rather, traditional medical science says that fasting without water fasting is very dangerous and detrimental to health.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/
3. Each and every Margii knows the value of lymph and that Baba has warned that no one should misuse this by harboring negative thoughts and converting one's vital energy into semen, unnecessarily for self-gratification or the domination of lowly instincts. One should know the value of naesthika brahmacarya as well as be wary of the "bad habit of masturbation" (11). But the beliefs and ways of present day science is just the opposite. They encourage others to indulge in this negative habit. Even this is preached to the youth. In a dogmatic way, present day scientists preach that the loss of semen is beneficial to health. But we know that this is 100% wrong.
According to Ananda Marga philosophy, a person is civilised if their action and overall conduct is supported by logic, reasoning, and rationality.
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "We may call those human acts and behaviour civilized that give evidence of this discriminative judgement, in a great measure." (12)

The typical person has numerous aims. For example, they want to be the king, president, billionaire, film hero, sports star, musical icon etc. In that sense, the average person is multi-purpose. But at the same time living beings are unilateral. We can only do one work at one time. People talk about multi-tasking, but it is an impossibility for unit beings. The mind cannot do two works at the same time. And if one tries to multi-task, their mind will become bifurcated and ultimately degenerated, and / or they will find themselves in a terrible accident.
Best is to do one task at one time. By cultivating that quality in sadhana humans become one with Parama Purusa. By doing sadhana and with His grace, the aspirant does become one with Parama Purusa. And then, after losing their individuality, they can work multilaterally - i.e. in all directions. Till then, do not try and do many works at one time.
Only one direction, at one time
Ananda Marga ideology states, “Microcosm is multipurposive but its flow is unilateral. On the other hand, Macrocosm is uni-purpose but its flow is multilateral. There is no end to the desires of microcosm. Sometimes it desires fame and sometimes it desires money. But it can make itself travel at one time in one direction only. His mind cannot be simultaneously engaged in a book and in a football game. While reading, if he thinks of the football game his mind is diverted from the book. Similarly, he cannot enjoy the football game if in the football game he begins to think about his books. Hence, the flow of the unit is unilateral. It travels only in one direction, at one time, whereas Macrocosm is uni-purpose but multilateral. There is only one thought of Macrocosm and that is the well-being of all. This is His one sole purpose. Yet Macrocosm is a multi-lateral flow. He does many things simultaneously. He is feeding you, creating the world, making rivers, canals and birds. Everything is being created in His mind. Hence there is much variety in His mind.” (1)

Easy way to be a fool
Ananda Marga philosophy says, "How one person sings melodious songs, how another dances beautiful rhythmic dances, how another delivers wonderful discourses, etc. But we cannot see the entity who pulls the strings from behind and runs the show. And the funniest thing is this: the speaker, the singer, the dancer thinks that he or she is the agent, the doer, and takes the entire credit for the performance. People do not care to think of the entity that pulls the strings from behind, or if they are even more foolish, they think that others see them alone, not the entity who pulls the strings from behind." (1)
Note 1: In the world, many people are in awe by seeing the work of others. But those who feel this way are very shortsighted. They think with their own merit XYZ is doing. But the reality is that on the world’s stage whatever people do, their energy comes from Parama Purusa. Those who have spiritual eyes see that nobody is doing anything. Rather Parama Purusa is supplying the energy. So all credit goes to Parama Purusa. So they never get wonderstruck.
The worst among all are those who stand on the stage and brag about their own merits. They forget that if Parama Purusa does not give energy for even a millisecond they will cease to exist. Because of their extreme blindness, they glorify themselves up to the moon. Watch out for such ignorant people.
Note 2: Under the spell of avidya maya many persons think that all credit goes to them for their great deeds. The number of such persons is huge. But according to Baba's above guideline, in the spiritual way of thinking they are fools. We should be careful and save ourselves from falling into this category of fools.

Early days of agriculture in primitive era
This is an English summary of the original Bangla:
In the primitive age people were not aware how to cultivate the land. Still in present day India there are many tribes who follow those primitive ways. In that pre-historic era they used to burn the forest as a means of preparing the ground for planting. And when those ashes were mixed with the soil then the soil would become more fertile. Afterwards, using pointed stones or some sharp wooden pieces, those primitive people would then scrape the top layer of topsoil and spread the seeds.
After the rains came the seeds would grow and the crops would come. Usually after 3 - 4 years of continuous cultivation, the fertility of the land would decrease. Then those tribes of the prehistoric era would leave that place and go to another part of that forest. And in a similar way they would burn that section of the forest and re-start their process of preparing the land. This type of cultivation is called "jum-cha's'a". When the age of jum-cha's'a finished then the age of the plough came and then people used to cultivate using the plough. (1)
Note: Here above Baba is revealing the historical facts about how primitive tribes in the jungles used to live thousands of years ago. It was only after the mountain age that tribes started agricultural cultivation. Actually they were under pressure to do something because they had already killed most of the animal livestock of the jungle. So up to that time they were living in the mountains and hunting for the basic needs. But when there was a shortage of animals to eat, they came down to the plains area and started cultivating the land in the aforesaid manner. In that early era, they could not even invent a single simple tool. That is why they were scratching the land with sticks and pointed stones. Those days people also were moving naked and living in the trees making nest-type of houses. Animal skins were only used as the clothes in the winter season.

Can you dismiss the situation as purely a domestic affair
Prout philosophy states, “Now, suppose a man seems to have good relations with his neighbours, but it becomes apparent that he is about to murder his wife, what should be the duty of the neighbours? Will they remain tight-lipped, sit quietly with their arms folded, and dismiss the situation as purely a domestic affair, thereby making the murder of the woman easier, and thus assist in establishing static peace? No, that is not the dictum of human dharma. On the contrary they should rush to the house, break down the door, save the woman, take suitable action against the male tyrant, and in this way come forward to establish sentient peace.” (1)
Note: The above Proutistic teaching applies to both individual live and collection life. Wherever there is an injustice, then there must be an intervention, either by the neighbouring family, or the neighbouring country. Sitting quietly and biding the time while a wrongdoing is unfolding is not our way. According to Prout, it is the bounden duty of every right-thinking individual and government to jump into action.
