Unity of bad people
Note: This letter is only for those who have reverence for Sadguru Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji and try to follow His Ananda Marga ideology.
Namaskar,
Now and again, some are giving the call for arbitration to unite AMPS. On this matter we should all think and cover all the angles. Let us consider some of the history:
(a) After 1990 some naive people thought that the leadership in AMPS was proper, but in reality it was not.
(b) Due to the lack of a benevolent leader from 1990 - 2000, our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha faced a very negative situation because a so-called unity or black pact was in vogue.
(c) In those dark days even the purodhas were terrified. They had to support dogmatic programs - against their own conscience - in order to save themselves. Otherwise they would get vilified.
(d) That is why the appendix of Caryacarya Part 1, a dogma and injustice was unanimously approved. Only an ignorant person can think that really every purodha was supporting that dogma and injustice. The main factor was that they were terrified of facing the backlash from those rulers. It was just like being part of the Soviet era Politburo, i.e. “opposing means danger.”
(e) From 1990 - 2000 there was so-called unity and if anyone raised any dharmic point and opposed Centre then they were ousted, harassed, terrorised, outcasted, expelled, and even killed.

Those sitting at a distance do not understand, but those working very closely are well aware about all these points. For them these are not anything new.
Unity of bad people is harmful
Any form of arbitration with these various groups is meaningless. It is adharmic to unite bad people. That will bring about more suffering and torture to good people. These factional tyrants have become disunited for the welfare of humanity. There is a great cause behind their disunity. If they were united they would wreak havoc all around. It would be a very disastrous situation akin to life under Stalin and Hitler.
In this situation, those pushing for unity have fallen prey to a utopian outlook. They have no idea what they are talking about. If tyrants are fully in control then no one has the right to even speak. So there is a cosmic reason why today's tyrants are involved in infighting and remain disunited. And that is why no rational person can support any type of arbitration in today’s environment. Because they know there would be a reign of terror if the parties are united.

Why X & Y groups are scared of arbitration
Not only that, even the x and y groups in AMPS do not want arbitration. Because they both are terrified of the idea of the other having control of PP dada. They think that, "If I go to arbitration and am forced to surrender control of my PP dada while the other group's PP Dada gains full control, then my life will be terrible." Each group - x and y - is well aware that the other group is criminal and that being forced by an arbiter to follow the other group under the guise of unity will be hell.
Verily, the situation is just like two criminal gangs that never unite, out of fear of falling under the control of the other's ruthless leadership. Likewise in AMPS, neither x group nor y group will ever agree to arbitration, out of fear of coming under the other's domain. Both groups understand how much power the other would wield if they got full control; each group knows the enormous power given to those at the helm of AMPS. So they are completely fear-stricken of the opposing party gaining full authority of running the organisation. For this reason, they will never agree to arbitration.

Even then, suppose it did go to arbitration and it was split 50-50, then all general margiis and field workers would be humiliated, harassed, punished, and marginalised.
Unity of immoralists vs unity of moralists
Real and fruitful unity can only occur when these so-called group leaders follow Ananda Marga ideology and Sixteen Points. Then the grand structure of AMPS will work.
From 1990 - 2000 when the various groups were united in their misdeeds. So many dogmas were invented and so many bogus and harsh rules were imposed. To that end, they completely dismantled the bhukti pradhan system and demolished margii rights - amongst so many other ills and injustices. It is a good thing, i.e. a gift, that so-called unity of bad people has not been reached since that time. If that situation continued up to this present moment it would have been akin to the ruthlessness of the Stalin era.
Remember our AMPS has been built and designed as a kind of military organisation. It is not a simple democracy; it is selecto-electoral. There are elections, however when corruption within the upper echelon of the organisation is rampant, and immoralists are ruling, then the whole system becomes paralysed. For this reason, nowadays even the traditional military is better than AMPS as at least the military recognises a sense of justice. While that is not the case in this present era of factionalism in AMPS.
That is why no right-thinking margii wants unity in this present era, i.e. the unity of bad people. No one wants to be ruled by a ruthless tyrant. That would spell disaster.

Conclusion
Baba does not say, “Immoralists of the world unite”. Baba has given the slogan: “Moralists of the world - unite, unite!” This universal formula is very practical for establishing unity in AMPS. If moralists unite throughout every level of the structure from the village level up to Purodha Pramukha, only then will the immoralists be defeated. And that will bring real peace. Otherwise, uniting all the so-called group leaders and their immoralist sycophants under one umbrella will create more harm than good, as was happening before division.

Your duty
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In the society, on the one hand we see the hoards of antisocial elements, and on the other hand we feel a sense of frustration among the moralists. These moralists have therefore developed a tendency to go out of the society. With more wealth and strength, the antisocial elements are in an advantageous position, and the moralists appear to be the culprits. This state of affairs is neither desirable nor behooving, and it should not be allowed to continue.”
“Your duty will be to unite the moralists. Let there be two camps. Let there be an open fight. The moralists have been scattered for so long that they could not fight. The united strength of five moralists is much more than the united strength of a hundred immoralists because there is an unholy alliance amongst the latter. Meditation behind closed doors will not do. Gather strength by intuitional practices and unite yourselves against the immoralists.”
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “So your duty is three-fold. Your first duty is to observe morality and to do intuitional practices. Without this you cannot have mental determination. Your next duty is to unite the moralists of the world, otherwise Dharma will not endure. The exploited mass who do not observe Yama and Niyama – the cardinal moral principles – cannot fight against their own sense of frustration. It is therefore necessary to unite the moralists.” (1)
Verily, in no place does Baba say, “Immoralists of the world unite.” That is why no rational Ananda Margii can support the unity of immoralists.

Pros & cons of Buddhism
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Buddha clearly and firmly supported the doctrine of rebirth. In fact, no doctrine before him had placed as much stress on the theory of rebirth as his did. One who accepts the theory of rebirth is bound to accept the existence of átman also. If the átman is non-existent, then who will take rebirth? Although there is a controversy about Buddha’s theistic or atheistic beliefs, there is no doubt about his concept of morality. In fact, in every sentence of Buddha’s teachings, in every rhythm of his vibrations, his moralism radiates unblemished light, pure effulgence. Before him, no one had tried to illumine the minds of people with the brilliant rays of this kind of moralism. He advocated the Eight-Fold Path [Aśt́a Shiila] as a path of human progress, to lead people from animality to humanity. This Eight-Fold Path consists of (1) Proper Philosophy, (2) Proper Determination, (3) Proper Speech, (4) Proper Occupation, (5) Proper Exercise, (6) Proper Work, (7) Proper Memory [i.e., meditation] and (8) Proper Attainment of Samádhi. He exhorted people to follow these progressive steps, and his teachings without doubt laid a solid base for human morality.” (1)

Why some fall asleep quickly, and some not
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, “Yes, we were discussing sleep. After labouring beyond a certain point in the wakeful state, one's nerve fibres become exhausted and one feels the need to rest. In the wakeful state, as the nerve cells are constantly performing the functions of thinking and recollecting, they become fatigued. Thus for psychic and physical health, one needs to sleep – the exhausted nerve cells and fibres will fall into sleep of their own accord. The nerve cells of those who do physical labour become extremely exhausted, and that is why the moment they go to bed they immediately fall asleep.” (1)
