"Nayaneri ainjan ma'nasranjain tumi janame maran'e sa'thii mor..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1370)

Note: Those who don't do 6th lesson sadhana, they can not understand this song.

O' Parama Purusa, You are so gracious. You are the ainjan (ointment of knowledge) of my eyes; You are Manasrainjan [1], the One who saturates my mind with bhakti; You are with me life after life, in birth and in death, always - up to eternity. O' Divine Entity, in the vast sky of my mind, in my mental horizon, Your attractive and charming form is vibrating and shining. Seeing Your exquisite beauty and supreme vibration, I have become completely captivated and wholly ensconced in You.

O' Parama Purusa, in  this expressed universe which  is situated in the mirror of Your maya. Everything is resonating in Your divine sound - nu'pura [2]. Please grace me, by looking towards me; please shower me in Your supreme compassion. O' Citta-cor / Chit-chor [3], O' Parama Purusa, You are captivating my mind in all the ways.

Baba, O' my adored one, I want You and You alone. I do not want anything from You. I only have one desire: Please grant me parabhakti [4] and keep me at Your lotus feet, always. I want to surrender my entire being unto You. O' Lord, please grace me and allow me to concentrate all my feelings and surrender my whole existence at Your feet. You are my Goal; You are my Ista. You are like the moon and I am the like the cakor / chakor [5] bird, always involved in Your ideation.

O' Divine Entity, O' Baba, You are my everything; You are the Goal of my life. My only desire is that You please grace me and give me a place eternally at Your lotus feet by granting me parabhakti...

How He colours the mind


[1] Ma'nasrainjan:
The mind is affected or coloured by whatever one thinks about in day to day life. Every thought has a particular colour and that colour varies based on one's object of contemplation. If a businessman is thinking primarily about his business, then his mind is coloured in that way. A drunkard's mind is coloured with the thought of wine. When the mind is completely obsessed with a particular thought, the mind becomes fully coloured in that manner, whether it be tamasik, sentient, or spiritual etc.

When Parama Purusa graciously colours a sadhaka's mind with bhakti, they remain wholly ensconced in the thought of Parama Purusa. If a new sadhaka cannot do sadhana at all, then we can understand that their mind is not coloured with bhakti. And if someone longs to do more and more meditation, we can understand that their mind is deeply coloured with with divinity.

Depending on the nature of one's thought, their mental colour changes. It may be black, red, yellow or white etc. Those bhaktas who think of Parama Purusa exclusively will have a white-coloured mind; it will be white effulgence. A violent person's mind will be red in colour. Remember, this colour is not their skin colour, nor any other external colour. Here we are only talking about the colour of their mind - nothing else.

Baba has given countless demonstrations on this. He used to make two sadhakas sit facing one another. Then He would bestow upon one the power to see into the other's mind. Then that bhakta would be able to clearly see the colour of the other sadhaka's mental plate. Still today this is possible, by the grace of Parama Purusa. When one advances in sadhana, they can easily see another's mental colour. Immediately, they can understand what type of person they are. In that case, nobody can hide. There is no scope for hypocrisy.

Parama Purusa, in His role as Ma'nasrainjan, is that Divine Entity who colours and saturates the mind of sadhakas in the fountain of bhakti.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "'rainjana', which means 'the One who colours' - that which colours the mind." (1)

So He is that Cosmic Being who graciously showers unconditional love into the heart and mind of the bhakta. And by such overwhelming Cosmic grace, the bhakta becomes immersed in Supreme bliss and comes in the closest proximity with that Love Personified Entity: Parama Purusa.

We all know that bhakti is that unique ingredient which allows one to advance in the spiritual field. Without innate love for Parama Purusa one can never succeed.

About the sound of Omnkara

[2] Nu'pura: This universe exists in the mind of Parama Purusa and is marked by three processes: Creation, sustenance, and destruction. Those process are represented by three sounds: A - U - MA. That is the sound of omnkara. Thus Parama Purusa is dancing in the rhythm of creation, sustenance, and destruction. These are the sounds emanating from the ankle bell of Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Listen to these three sounds of aum: a, u, ma. They represent the creation, the retention [or preservation], and the destruction. The first sound, a, represents creation; the second sound, u, represents retention; the third sound, ma, represents destruction. So all those innumerable sounds, all those fifty sounds, are represented by these supreme sounds, a, u and ma; and collectively a-u-ma becomes aum.” (2)

For unit beings the sound they hear depends upon the degree of their realisation. If, by His grace, their mind is in an exalted state then they will hear the full omnkara sound. If one's mind is less elevated they will hear a different type of sound like the roar of the ocean, the sweet melody of the flute, the chirping of the crickets etc. At different stages of realisation the sadhaka can hear these sounds as detailed in the discourse, “The Six Stages of Realization.”

So it is all dependent upon the quality of mind. That determines which sound a person will hear. It is similar to someone looking at a very colourful flower. If their eyes are perfect they will see all the colours of that flower. And if their vision is compromised in any way or if they are colour-blind they will only see one or two of the colours. It depends upon the quality of their vision. In the same way, hearing the omnkara sound is wholly dependent upon the quality of mind of the aspirant.


How He steals the mind

[3] Citta-cor / Chit-chor / Citcor: In His role as 'Citcor', Parama Purusa is the Thief or Stealer of the bhakta’s mind. How does He steal the mind? He captivates their mind and attracts the bhakta by His exquisite spiritual charm - whereby the sadhaka cannot think of anything or anyone else. The sadhaka has lost control of his own mind: It incessantly and unknowingly rushes towards Parama Purusa. The One who makes this happen is Citcor - the Stealer of the mind.

And to some degree this happens in the mundane realm as well, though it is degenerating and not long-lasting. There are numerous worldly examples where a person's mind is stolen. For instance, if they lost money, if they are infatuated with mundane attraction, if they are anxious about something - in all such cases when the person's mind runs again and again in that direction. So to some degree their mind has been stolen. The person's mind is no longer their own - they do not have control over it. Over and over, their mind is thinking of something - yet that something is not eternal but rather short-lived. So the effect is degenerating. Because their I-feeling has become attached to something mundane. In the real sense that is not citcor, but rather a reflection of a reflection of the stage of citcor.

The Entity that causes someone to lose control of their mind is Citcor - the stealer of the mind. And this is a deeply spiritual state. In the sphere of bhakti, only Parama Purusa is Citcor. The sadhaka thinks of Him, unknowingly. Always the mind is goaded in that direction. Even if the bhakta intentionally tries not to think in this way, still his mind becomes ensconced in the thought of the Supreme, i.e. Parama Purusa. This is an elevating experience and has a wholly beneficial result.

Ultimately, when this condition climaxes, in that culminating state the unit mind - the jiiva'tma - becomes one with Supreme Consciousness.

Lastly, another name of Citcor is Makhan Cor (Butter Thief).

A number of dogmatic worshipers think that Lord Krsna is a butter-thief and they portray Lord Krsna as a small child who has stolen butter whereby the child Krsna is eating a lot of saturated fat. The sages tried to teach the common people with analogies but due to a very low standard the people took it in a literal way until finally it became an entrenched dogma. They do not like to hear the real truth of the matter.

Conversation with Parama Purusa


[4] Parabhakti: Par means divine; and apara means worldly. The feminine is para and when combined with bhakti, it is parabhakti. That is the highest bhakti. In that blessed state, bhaktas want to do each and everything for Parama Purusa and give Him pleasure. In return, they do not want anything. Those sadhakas who got Parama Purusa, by His grace, have gotten everything. This is the highest type of bhakti where one wants only Parama Purusa and does not want anything from Him, whereas aparabhakti is when one asks the Lord for mundane gains.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "When one wants Parama Purus'a from Parama Purus'a,then that bhakti is para'bhakti..."
  "And what is para'bhakti? 'O Parama Purus'a, You know whether I am Your devotee or not. It is You who are to judge whether I am Your devotee or not -- but I want You...I want You. And why do I want You? Because I want to serve You'."
   "And when asked by Parama Purus'a, 'O my boy, why do You want to serve Me?"...The reply should be, 'By serving You I want to give You pleasure. That's why I want to serve You. I don't want to enjoy pleasure'." 
   "This is the highest phase of para'bhakti." (3)

Ananda Marga ideology says, “When people beseech the Lord to fulfil all their selfish desires, this is called aparábhakti. “Oh Lord, I am your devotee, help me to pass my examination… Oh Lord, my daughter has attained marriageable age – help me to find a worthy suitor… Let the bridegroom be ideal, let me not spend much on the wedding…” This type of showy devotion that simply asks for mundane objects, is no devotion at all, because it demands everything except Parama Puruśa. Such devotees never say, “Oh Lord, be mine… I want You and only You.” They always say, “I want this, I want that.” In fact this is no devotion at all. When one asks only for Parama Puruśa, this is the true devotion, parábhakti.” (4)


[5] Cakor / Chakor Bird: The red-legged Bartavelle bird or Greek Partridge that seems to subsist on moonlight alone. All night long the cakor bird looks and stares at the moon - wanting to soak up and drink each and every ounce of moonlight. It is completely linked with the moon (vidhu). That is why it is said that the cakor bird has a deeply loving relation with the moon. In the above composition of Prabhat Samgiita, the bhakta is compared to the cakor and Parama Purusa is likened to the moon.

“The entire humanity must be looked upon as one integrated existence – and move collectively towards the all-round perfection of human life. All actions are bound to confront obstacles. It has to be borne in mind that the nobler the task, the mightier the obstacle. For human emancipation, there is no other way but to march ahead crushing the towering peaks of obstacles with a benevolent intellect and collective endeavour. Hence I reiterate, go ahead with courage and unity. You have to move on ensuring real justice to all individuals and all geographical people.” (Ananda Vanii #56)

Note 1: True Ananda Vaniis have a number whereas Fake Ananda Vaniis do not - just as a fake car license plate has no number. By this way, you can easily recognise a Fake Ananda Vanii.

Baba says, “In the distant past, some areas of India did not exist: There was neither northern India, nor D’aba’k nor Samatat’ areas of Bengal, but there was Old Gondwana. That was about 300 million years ago. At that time, the major parts of Sind, the Punjab, U.P., Bihar and Bengal did not exist. They were all submerged under the vast oceans. The Himalayas also did not exist. But the Vindhya mountain range and its sister ranges, Sa’tpura’, Sahya’dri, Rajmahal and Ra’mga’r’h did exist. These mountains were very high, and always snow-covered.” (1)

Those who think they understand, they may not

Namaskar,
Hindus think that brahamcarya means "celibacy", when in our Ananda Marga it means ensconcing oneself in Godhood. That is the dharmic understanding as given by Baba. This type of example is not unique; there are countless such cases.

As we know, Ananda Marga philosophy has its own vocabulary: Words carry a pointed dharmic meaning given by Baba Himself which is different from the general understanding of the common public and the various religions.


The term avatar

For example, take the term avatar. Here are three different definitions:

1) The dogmatic Hindus believe that an avatar is a divine being that has descended from heaven onto earth in flesh & blood.

2) Next, there is the pseudo-culture / video gaming definition of avatar, wherein an avatar is a created character who represents and is manipulated by a computer user in a computer game.

3) Finally in Ananda Marga, the term avatar refers to every created entity in this universe.

Baba says, "The fundamental stuff of the universe has emerged from Parama Purusa; hence all objects, big and small, are the sambhutis of Parama Purusa... When Parama Purusa is manifested in some physical object, that physical object is called the avatara of Parama Purusa." (1)

Thus the Ananda Marga definition of avatara is dramatically different from that of the dogmatic religions and pseudo-culture venues.


About the term tandava

Now let's investigate another term: Tandava.

The Hindu community thinks that tandava means destruction. In Indian newspapers, if they are describing some village that caught fire wherein the houses burned to ashes, then they say that it was tandava of fire.

So Hindus commonly use it in this way: "Tandava depicts Shiva's violent nature as the destroyer of the universe."

The general Indian society also adheres to this meaning. Therefore when destruction comes in the form of fire, the loss of blood, or an earthquake etc, then people use the term tandava, i.e. the tandava dance of destruction was going on.

But we know that this is not the true meaning of tandava.

In Ananda Marga, tandava is the name of one tantric dance which Lord Shiva invented. All male margiis practice this dance. So we use the term tandava in a very positive way: As one of the great gifts of Lord Shiva.

If in our Ananda Marga magazine or newspaper it is reported that margiis were doing tandava, it does not mean that margiis were killing, destroying or engaging in arson etc. Because for us tandava is something quite beneficial and positive. It is our duty to propagate this ideal to all.

Thus when we use the term tandava we should not use it as dogmatic Hindus do: They think that tandava means obliteration, destruction or disaster. Even in the newspapers, they will say that the fire’s dance of tandava happened if a huge blaze burned down an entire city.

As Ananda Margiis, we are not to be drawn into such dogmatic ideas.


Tandava dance is not about destruction

Here Baba below Baba talks about the meaning of the tandava dance. By His explanation it is quite clear that the tandava dance is not about destruction but rather life itself.

Baba says, "Now the fundamentality, or rather the primordial phase of Oriental dance, is táńd́ava. It is not a very easy job either. The knees must cross the navel. When they cross the navel it is called Brahma táńd́ava. When they cross the anáhata [mid-point of the chest] it is called Viśńu táńd́ava. When they cross this portion [indicates the throat], it is called Rudra táńd́ava. It is very difficult to dance Rudra táńd́ava. It requires long practice.”

“That is why Lord Sadáshiva is known as Nat́arája. And when these boys [indicates them] were dancing, it was just like a picture of Nat́arája in táńd́ava mudrá. It is called táńd́ava; táńd́ava is a mudrá.”

“Why is it called táńd́ava? In Sanskrit tańd́ means “to jump”. Tańd́u means “of jumping habit”. Táńd́ava means “having the use of tańd́u, the use of jumping”. But jumping in the proper style, not in a disorderly manner. You should learn it properly in a disciplined way.”

“And táńd́ava represents life; you know Tantra is a cult of life, it is not a cult of death. For Tantra you should be strong physically, mentally and spiritually. First in the present tense; Lord Shiva says all your expressions, all your manifestations, must be based on the present tense. So this táńd́ava is the starting phase of Tantra.”

“This táńd́ava I said represents life, it represents vitality. There are so many forces that want to destroy you, so many forces forces that are inimical to you by nature. Say a snake – a snake is a born enemy. There are many such born enemies. As Tantra represents life, táńd́ava says that one’s spirit should be based on vitality, based on the principle of survival.” (2)


Human skull represents death

Ananda Marga ideology further teaches us, “This human skull represents death. You are surrounded by death, but you must not be defeated, you must not develop the psychology of fear or defeatism. So the knife is with you to fight against death. Yours is a fight for survival. In the daytime one may also use a snake to represent death – not an ordinary snake, but a venomous snake. In India our boys dance with a snake. But at nighttime neither a skull nor a snake will be visible. Here there is light, they will be visible, but in a burial ground, in a cremation ground, where there is darkness, a snake or skull will not be visible. There you may use fire to represent death.”

“This is the spirit of Tantra. To fight, to fight for survival. [[It is the normal wont of all living beings to fight for survival.]] It is normal life moving towards the supreme state of abnormality.”

“Lord Shiva started this táńd́ava dance." (3)

Your blissful songs flow according to their own schedule, according to their own routine - not caring about day or night, summer or winter. The divine flow and sweet melody of Your Prabhat Samgiita is dancing on the jagged path. They lead one towards that vast Cosmic Ocean - towards the fountain of effulgence, towards Supreme entity...

बाबा ! तुम्हारे अलावा मेरा कोई नहीं है ।

भावार्थ-
हे परमप्रिय परमपुरुष ! तुम, ऐसे रत्न हो जिसका कोई रूप नहीं है । तुम आकाश में मुस्काते और वायु में तैरते हो । हे रूपहीन रत्न ! मेरी एक ही विनती है कि तुम कृपा कर मुझे अपना बना लो।

बाबा ! बिना रुके मैं लगातार तुमसे तुम्हारी दिव्य करुणा का ही निवेदन करता हूँ । तुम्हारे अलावा मेरा कोई नहीं है। सब का भाग्य तुम में ही स्थित है। हे प्रभु ! कृपा कर दया भरी आँखों से मेरी ओर निहार लीजिए ।

हे परमपुरुष बाबा ! इस धरती पर मैंने बार बार आकर जन्म लिया। कितने बार धरती पर आया और गया यह नहीं जानता ।  यह सब मेरी क्षमता के बाहर है । तुम्हारे मन में ही यह सब जानकारी रहती है क्योंकि तुम ही वह परम पूजनीय सत्ता हो ।

हे अरूपरत्न बाबा ! तुम मुझे सबसे अधिक प्रिय हो ।

टिप्पणी- जब अरूप सत्ता परमपुरुष, महासम्भूति  का रूप और आकार लेते हैं तो वह रूपवान इस संसार और अरूप सत्ता परमपुरुष के बीच पुल का काम करते हैं। वही साधकों को परमपद  तक पहुँचाने का कार्य करते हैं। सचमुच उनका ध्यान करने पर मोक्ष मिल जाता है ।

Prior to the start of creation + 4 more

You created srsti in Your own mind

“Sab priitite práńa bharecho, ke ná jáne ke ná jáne…” (Prabhat Samgiita #0813)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, who does not know that You have filled every affection with warmth. You have showered Your blessings upon everyone, every unit being. And You have bestowed beautiful melodies into the world of music. Because of You, every song has a special resonance. Baba, it is Your grace. You have done everything. Everyone accepts this truth, and everyone realises it.

O’ Parama Purusa, prior to the start of creation, there was nothing in this manifested universe. In that vast festival of stark nothingness, there was only cimmerian darkness in all directions. In that night of nothingness, in that dark void, You created vibrations as fountains in a dream. You created srsti in Your own mind.

O’ Supreme Entity, prior to the start of creation, there was nothing - neither good nor bad, neither auspicious nor inauspicious. There was no flower fragrance, no dirty dust of the earth, and no chirping of the birds in that cimmerian dark night. Amid that nothingness, at the beginning of creation, You descended in the mind by shravańa, manana, and nididhyásana [1].

Baba, You descended through Your thought projection. And that is what we call creation...

[1] Shravan, Manan, & Niddhidhyasana: Ananda Marga philosophy says, "To attain Him human beings have to take recourse to shravana (constantly hearing His name), manana (constantly ideating on Him) and nididya'sana (constantly meditating on Him). The Supreme Entity is Gurha, that is, He is lying hidden in the innermost recess of the human entity. To attain Him one must penetrate deep within oneself, and for that the development of an introversial outlook is essential." (1)

परमपुरुष के साथ भक्ति से भरा गहरा सम्बन्ध जोड़ लो


गुलाब के बगीचे में पौ फटते ही बुलबुल मधुरता से क्या सन्देश दे रही है

प्रभात सङ्गीत  4100 गुलबागीचाय बुलबुली गाय, विहाने सन्ध्याय कि जे वार्ता...

भावार्थ

गुलाब के बगीचे में पौ फटते ही और गोधूलि बेला में  बुलबुल मधुरता से गाती है। मैं आश्चर्य से भरा सोच रहा हॅूं कि वह क्या सन्देश  दे रही है। वह जो कह रही है उसमें गुलाब के काँटों और फूलों के रङ्गों की सुन्दरता में समानता सी झलकती है। उसमें अच्छे और बुरे दोनों का मेल सा लगता है  ।

बुलबुल पुकारती है, हे मनुष्यो ! ध्यान से सुनो। सभी लोग खुले मन और हृदय से आगे आओ। सुनो ! परमपुरुष की आसमान को भेदनेवाली आवाज़ गूँज रही है। यह आवाज़ सभी दुखों और कष्टों को दूर करती है। यह वह अवसर है जब परमपुरुष खुद ही धरती पर आए हैं।  सुनो, सुनो !

हे मनुष्यो ! सभी प्रकार का रोना धोना छोड़कर परमपुरुष को हृदय की गहराई में बसा लो। उनकी मधुर इच्छा के सामने अपने को सौंप दो। उन्हें अपना सबसे प्यारा और  बिलकुल पास में ही रहनेवाला बना लो। पूर्णिमा का यह प्रकाश, भक्ति से भरी बेचैन भावनाओं को बार बार फैला रहा है। पूरा वातावरण आध्यात्मिक भावनाओं से भर गया  है। इस सुनहले अवसर में उन परमपुरुष के साथ भक्ति से भरा गहरा सम्बन्ध जोड़ लो।

“In the crimson rays of the early dawn floats the trumpet sound from the distant blue void. The call resounds: Arise, awake and waste no time in sleep. Tear off the fog of dogma and march on smashing under your feet the sky-kissing challenges of the rocky mountains. Remember that victory does not come by itself. Victory has to be invited and welcomed with sweat, the warmth of the blood and the fiery flames of hard labour. The task you have undertaken has to be brought to its consummation. When the mission is noble victory is sure to come. So do not sit inert wasting your valuable time. Be ready to give a fitting response to the clarion call of the cosmos. Be ready from this very moment.” (Ananda Vanii #70)

Note 1: True Ananda Vaniis have a number whereas Fake Ananda Vaniis do not - just as a fake car license plate has no number. By this way, you can easily recognise a Fake Ananda Vanii.

How jinanis can prove right as wrong and wrong as right


Here is a summary of Baba’s Hindi teaching: There is one defect in jinanis. Two jinanis cannot agree on any point. Among them, many jinanis believe that agreeing means accepting one’s defeat. Indeed there are some godly qualities in jinanis. Such as they can speak in flowery language. Or that with their grandiloquence they can prove day as night, and night as day. If in daytime one jinani tells to anyone that it is night, or if during the night they tell that it is day, and if the next person does not accept what the jinani is telling, then the jinani will use the their logic and reasoning to prove that person as a top-grade fool. And he (the jinani) will make it look like the next person could not understand this one simple thing. Because of this in the scriptures is it said, ‘Mathitva…’ Meaning: if an unfathomable amount of milk is turned into butter and whey, then jinanis argue and quarrel about the whey and in so doing the butter gets rotten and destroyed. Reminding oneself

Those of a materialistic mindset think that power, post, money, and worldly relations are the base of life. They think, “I live and die for this - i.e. power, post, & money etc. For this, I have come on this earth to live happily and enjoy.” In this way, due to avidya maya they pass their whole life in drowsiness. They cannot comprehend this basic fact that what they are depending upon is not permanent. Those things cannot last forever.

In this universe, everything is moving and the speed of movement also varies. So when two people are moving in with a similar speed then they are called a family. But no two persons can maintain a similar speed for long. Either one moves away, dies, divorces, or their liking or disliking changes. What they formerly cherished has now become useless in their eyes.

That is why nothing in this created world can be the base of life. None of those things can provide permanent happiness. Animals cannot comprehend this simple truth - but humans can understand it. Those who fail to comprehend it are worse than animals. Only that Eternal Entity Parama Purusa alone is the base of life. He was with you, He is with you, and He will always be with you up to eternity. So when you have one Entity who always remains with You then why not cultivate a close and intimate relation with that Supreme Entity. That will signify the start of gaining real meaning and fulfillment of life.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "That which is finite cannot be the base of your life, because it will be used up and will leave your mind unsheltered. Thrusting you in the abyss of darkness, it will pursue its course on the unending path. Therefore, no one except Brahma, the beginningless, endless and infinite can be the object of your mind and the base of your life.” (1)

Behold Ajáná Pathik has come

"Ánkhi mele ceye dekho, ajáná pathik eseche..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1550)

Purport:

O' human beings, behold, look, Parama Purusa the Aja'na' Pathik [1], has come. With His sweet, charming smile and infinite grace, He is pouring His endless compassion and love unto all. He is showering everyone with His divine blessing. All are getting bathed in His love. He is radiating love; He is pouring out His sweet smile. O' brothers and sisters, come hither and see, Baba, the Aja'na' Pathik has come and He is showering His causeless grace upon all.

Due to His divine arrival and august presence, the darkness which was in the mind has vanished somewhere - to one far distant place. In the past, where there used to be darkness, one stream of effulgence has come and blossomed in the colour of one rose. By His grace, the dry mind has become devotional and blissful. Baba, the Ajana Pathik has come and showered His grace.

Everyone is near and dear to Him. With His infinite love, everyone has a sacred place in His heart. Parama Purusa graciously holds each and every being in His bosom. O' brothers and sisters, do not waste your time running after name and fame, money, prestige, or any other transitory thing. Do not run after mundane longings. Come unto the path of bliss, and fulfill your hopes and aspirations by reaching unto Him. Baba is the Ista - He is the Goal. Only He can quench your infinite thirst with His boundless love. O' human beings, your life and death - your coming and going - on this earth is dancing in His Cosmic rhythm. Everything is blissful; everyone revolves around Him - nobody is alone. All are an inseparable part of Him. This is His divine liila and ultimately everyone is sure to become one with Him, by His causeless grace...


Note for Prabhat Samgiita #1550:

[1] Ajana Pathik: The term Aja'na' Pathik means 'The Divine Entity Parama Purusa Who moves around this entire universe, and resides everywhere and knows everything; irrespective of where one goes, He remains along with you'. That is one of His many unique attributions and that is the speciality of the name 'Ajana Pathik'. The name 'Ajana Pathik' denotes this special quality.

Literally, Aja'na' means 'unknown' and Pathik means ' traveler' or ‘tourist.’ But this is just the word by word, literal translation; and proper nouns are not meant to be translated. So we cannot call Him the ‘Unknown Traveler’ or ‘Unknown Tourist.’ The spirit and meaning is then lost.

The inner sense of the name Ajana Pathik is that Parama Purusa is always moving throughout this vast cosmos and He is constantly present with everyone, all the time. He is in the Cosmic Nucleus yet at the same time through His ota and prota yoga He is everywhere - carefully watching & lovingly guiding everyone. This unique aspect of His grand Personality is treated as Aja'na' Pathik. Because He is constantly traveling yet present everywhere. He is in the nucleus as well as throughout this entire universe.


Not ‘Unknown Traveler’ or ‘Unknown Tourist’

As the Ajana Pathik, Parama Purusa Baba moves and moves and moves. In their devotional approach bhaktas feel that wherever they go the Aja'na' Pathik will always be there to shower His blessing. By His grace, bhaktas can always get His intimate company and companionship. With this devotional link, by His grace, sadhakas understand that Parama Purusa is present everywhere, yet side by side He travels on and on throughout this entire cosmos. Thus He is Aja'na' Pathik.

Overall the name Aja'na' Pathik has one special and unique meaning that goes far beyond its literal translation. And in our hearts we A'nanda Ma'rgiis know and feel that Baba is that Aja'na' Pathik. Indeed in His discourses, in Dharma Samiiksa, and in reporting, in DMC, and in numerous ways Baba has revealed this very fact that He is ever-present and always along with us. He is always moving and wherever we go then He will also be there. Parama Purusa has infinite attributions and one of them is this special quality where He always remains along with us wherever we are in this vast universe. In this way He is known as - Aja'na' Pathik. In true sense, as the omnipresent Entity, He does not go anywhere because He is everywhere; but in a more literal manner He goes from place to place.

Those who use ‘Unknown Traveler’ or ‘Unknown Tourist’ in place of Aja'na' Pathik are going against the spirit of the term.

बाबा! पहले  मैं तुम्हें क्यों भूला रहा


(जो साधना का 6th पाठ नहीं करता, वह यह गाना नहीं समझ सकता )

प्रभात सङ्गीत  0241: तुमि आमार कातो  आपन

भावार्थ

बाबा ! तुम मेरे इतने पास हो इसे मैं पहले नहीं जान सका। तुम तो मेरे बहुत ही नज़दीक हो और मेरे लिए सबसे अधिक प्रिय हो। बीत चुके समय  में, मैं इस सच्चाई को भूला हुआ था कि तुम मेरे सबसे अधिक निकटता के साथी हो। बाबा ! सब ओर से, हर समय तुम मेरे आजूबाजू में ही रहे हो। जहाॅं कहीं भी मैं रहा, हमेशा  तुम मेरे हर कार्य और प्रयास में साथ रहे। पर यह मेरा बहुत ही दुर्भाग्य है कि मैं तुम्हारी उस उपस्थिति से अनजान रहा। मैंने कभी सोचा ही नहीं कि तुम मेरे साथ हो। हे परम प्रिय ! मैंने तुम्हें क्यों नहीं पुकारा और तुम्हारी प्रेम से भरी निकटता क्यों नहीं पायी। बाबा ! तुम तो शुरू से ही मेरे  छोटे बड़े, सही या गलत हर काम को देखते रहे हो। पर हाय रे दुर्भाग्य ! मैंने तुम्हारी ओर देखा तक नहीं।

बाबा ! तुम मेरे गीतों, लय और तान में मेरे साथ रहे हो। ऐसा कोई अवसर नहीं रहा जब तुम मेरे साथ न थे। तुम्हारी वीणा का तार उस समय मेरे मन में कम्पित होता था और आज भी हो रहा है। अब मैं उसे सुन सकता हॅूं। पर यह कितना दुख देनेवाला है, कि इससे पहले  मैं तुम्हें क्यों भूला रहा। मैंने तुम्हारी वीणा की पुकार पर ध्यान नहीं दिया। मैंने सुना ही नहीं। हे मेरे प्रियतम ! मैंने क्यों नहीं  सुना ? ओह ! कितना अधिक आनन्द होता यदि मैंने तुम्हें तब जान लिया होता।

हे दिव्य सत्ता ! हे परमपुरुष ! तुम मेरे साथ उस समय भी रहे हो जब मैं घने अँधेरे में डूबा हुआ था। अब वह क्षण मेरे मन में बार बार जागता है कि तुम मेरे साथ थे। मेरे मन में बार बार यह आता है कि तुम मेरे निकट और मेरे साथ हो पर ओह ! भूतकाल में, मैं भूला रहा और तुम्हें कभी नहीं पुकारा। मैं भक्तिभाव से निकट न आकर दूर ही बना रहा, भले ही तुम मेरे साथ थे। बड़ा ही दुखद है यह। केवल अब जान पाया हॅूं कि तुम मेरे साथ हो और मैं तुमसे बातचीत कर सकता हॅूं।

हे मेरे परमेश्वर ! मेरा आध्यात्मिक जीवन, उसी समय क्यों नहीं शुरू हो गया। मैं बहुत पछता रहा हॅूं कि मैंने तुमको उन शुरुआती दिनों में ही क्यों नहीं पुकारा। चूॅंकि मैं तुमको नहीं पुकार रहा था शायद इसीलिए मुझसे नाराज होकर तुम मुझे अकेला छोड़ कर दूसरे स्थान पर बहुत दूर चले गए।  उस समय मैंने तुमको अपने हृदय में क्यों नहीं रखा लिया, तुम्हारे पैर क्यों नहीं पकड़ लिए। तुम्हारे प्रति मैंने अपने सभी भ्रम उसी समय क्यों नहीं दूर कर लिए। ध्यान में पकड़ कर तुम्हें अपना क्यों नहीं बना लिया। ओह ! मैंने यह क्यों नहीं किया। यह कितना दुखद है कि समय निकल गया और तुम दूर ही बने रहे। आज हम निकट हैं पर मैं इतना पछता रहा हॅूं कि यदि पहले से तुम्हारी यह निकटता मिल गयी होती तो मेरे जीवन में कितना आनन्द रहा होता ! मैं  यह दुख अपने हृदय में रखे हुए हॅूं।

namaskar to any human being


Namaskar,
Some have the wrong idea that when doing namaskar they are saluting another human being. When in fact the truth is we are saluting the Divine within that human being. But due to their misunderstanding, some "big" Dadas are hesitant to do namaskar to those who are their juniors. Those Dadas think that, 'I am more senior and more respected than he is, so why should I salute or bow down to such & such person'. Sadly, with their dogmatic understanding, those "big" Dadas refrain from doing namaskar when seeing others.

At the same time, Baba guides us that we should always do namaskar to others first. And if those Dadas understood that by doing namaskar they are honoring the Supreme and not bowing down to some human being, then they would surely follow Baba's guideline: They would be the first to do namaskar.

But since they suffer from the dogmatic view that by doing namaskar they are bowing down to some human being, then they do not like to do namaskar. And that is exactly what happens when "big" Dadas go to any public gathering or retreat. They expect the entire campus to do namaskar to them, but unto others they refrain, or at best do namaskar in reply. But again, this entire situation can be averted if our entire Marga society becomes more aware about the real nature of our namaskar practice.


Namaskar: meaning of the term

Here following then is Baba's special explanation about the meaning of namaskar. In various discourses, Baba has explained that:
(a) The prefix 'namah' means 'I salute';
(b) The root 'kr' means 'do'; and,
(c) 'Ghain' is simply a standard Sanskrit suffix.
(d) So: Namah - kr + ghain = Namaska'r

So the full meaning of 'namaskar' is 'I salute'. By this way 'namaskar' indirectly refers to Parama Purusa. That is why it is fitting to use the term 'namaskar' when addressing other jiivas-- other human beings. Because the term 'namaskar' recognises those humans as being expressions of Cosmic Consciousness.


'Namaskar': Not a salutation to other human beings

We should not forget that no human being should salute any other human being. Ours is not like that of the military. Rather one should always salute Parama Purusa. Because why should we bow down to any human being? That is the spirit and this is the uniqueness of our Ananda Marga philosophy. Ananda Marga is not a religion.  In the various religions this supreme idea is wholly absent. They salute human beings, but we don't.

Namaskar means paying homage to the Supreme


By doing 'namaskar' (literally meaning 'I salute'), we are paying our salutations to the Divine in an indirect way. Because we are recognisng 'Ramesh' or 'Manoranjan' or 'Tom', 'Dick', or 'Harry', as being manifestations of the Supreme. The word 'namaskar' acknowledges the Divine within them; it is an indirect reference to Parama Purusa.

So 'namaskar' means: O' Mr Ramesh or O' Mr Manoranjain, I salute the Divine which is residing within you. That is the true spirit of doing namaskar. But if Ramesh or Manoranjan is ignorant and foolish, they will think that someone is saluting them directly. And if the one doing namaskar is foolish, they will think that they are saluting Ramesh or Manoranjain etc. Those who do namaskar in this misguided way are just treating it as some mundane greeting. That is why we say this is a simple but often misunderstood point in our day to day life. None should get confused and think that by saying 'namaskar' we are saluting another human being or that someone else is saluting us.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "As ideal human beings you should not wait to do namaskar after another has greeted you: you should rather take the first opportunity to greet others. When someone greets you...you do not become an ideal human being thereby. Rather one who seizes the first opportunity to salute others is the ideal. So you should always make an effort to do namaskar to others first: you should not care whether the person whom you greet will greet you in return or not. (When people come to me during personal contact, I greet them first whether they salute me or not.) By giving honour to others you will not be belittled, you will rather enhance your prestige." (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy, "Tandava: As long as a dancer remains above the ground, he derives much benefit; when he touches the ground, then those benefits are assimilated by the body. Are we embarrassed? + Putting our Ista in the hands of fools

Are we embarrassed?

Looking at what is written about our Master, the question keeps coming up: do we capitalize His pronouns? Or do we just not rock the boat?

Some important books have been written of Baba's theories, particularly on Prout. Example: After Capitalism-Economic Democracy in Action, by Dada Maheshvarananda.

In this brilliant book, all Baba's pronouns are lower case. I am thinking, this brilliant acarya wrote this but all Baba's pronouns are in lower case? Why? Was Dada afraid people wouldn't take him seriously?

What is the etiquette around this? I thought we capitalized Baba's pronouns and that's it.

Now, if you go to all the devotional books of Baba stories, of course, the pronouns are capitalized.

It seems that we capitalize the pronouns or go lower case when it suits us. Intellectuals will be reading about Prout, so Baba gets lower case. (Interesting that the more jinani literature gets lower case pronouns.)

But devotional books, true or false, are devotional, and they all capitalize Baba's pronouns.

I wonder... What kind of a game are we playing here? Is Shrii P. R. Sarker lower case?

So the question, are we in hiding? Are we embarrassed? If I wrote a book about Baba, you can believe all the pronouns would be capitalized because not doing that is disrespectful to Taraka Brahma. The un-initiated may get away with not capitalizing the pronouns and questioning Baba's divinity.

So this is a quandary for me. What is Ananda Marga's stand here? As far as I'm concerned, His pronouns should always be capitalized.

Out of respect, we capitalize His pronouns. Margiis believe Baba is Divine. Overwhelming evidence here. Not that anyone outside the Marga has to believe this. And even those inside the Marga...but what happens is that when we meditate on His Sweet Being, we understand.

Putting our Ista in the hands of fools

Another thing that comes to mind I could have said and that bears saying:

When one "publishes" any material on the Internet, this person has, with the click of a button, made this image available to the entire World, especially if there are no programs in place or talk of copyright infringement. (As if anyone cares about copyright infringement on the Internet.) So, basically, when someone "publishes" - uploads - the Pratikriti or Pratik onto the net, anyone can copy it and do whatever they want with it. Is this not disturbing? It should be disturbing to us all.

People are stupid. Didn't Baba say a democracy is a mobocracy, the psychology of a mob? The majority of people are foolish. So our democracy on the net, as Baba says of democracy, is a foolocracy. Thus, margiis are unwittingly putting our Ista in the hands of fools. Lots, and lots of fools.
