Who is great in true sense

Baba says, "Who is mahat (great), who is maha'na (great), about this it has been said, 'paropaka'rat mahat', or those who are serving others. They are called mahat. Those who have studied volumes of books, or those who accumulated huge wealth, those who have a prestigious family heritage, good reputation in the society, all these things are there, etc even then they cannot be great if they do not serve others." "Those who are serving others, they are mahat, great. To do social service huge money is not needed. Whatever strength you have at present in your hand, utilise that to serve others. If body is strong physically then serve with physical body, and if you have money then serve with your money, if you have intellect then do with intellect, if you have courage then do with that, if you do not have anything then you do by your good thoughts and well-wishing. Human beings become great by serving others. But where there is not service they become low and mean. They become meager." (1)

Now there is no one whom I feel is alien; everyone is mine, my own

Purport:

Now, after such a long time, the cimmerian darkness has finally disappeared; and, the crimson dawn is smiling today. In my mental plate, in my mind’s mirror, His divine effulgence is emanating with the expression of His divine love. In my mind, the particles of His divine love are buoyant.

Now there is no one whom I feel is alien; everyone is mine, my own. This entire universe - flora and fauna - everything is filled with the feeling of being part of my own vast cosmic family. Amongst this entire world, throughout this mobile and immobile universe, I only see Him in my heart and soul’s firmament. He is Parama Purusa Baba. This creation is nothing but His divine play.

In order to get Him (Parama Purusa), I do not go to any “holy land”, Ananda Nagar, Tiljala Tomb tiirtha, Jamalpur, Varanasi, Rameshwaram, Puri, or Kailash etc. Neither do I go to Bodhgaya, Mecca, Rome, Jerusalem, or any other external place in search of Him, Parama Purusa. And I also do not observe any external, dogmatic rituals or penance such as idol worship, deity puja, dogmatic “holy dips” in river Ganges, namaz, prayer, nature worship, or  any other dogmatic offering like animal sacrifice etc to get His blessing. Nor do I go to any temples - neither Buddha, nor Jain, nor Hindu, Gurudwara, mosque, church, nor any synagogue etc - to attain realization of God. I do not go to any such places in order to get Him & have His grace. I just love Him in the deep corner of my mind through shravana, manana, niddidhyasana [1], kiirtana, bhajana, dhyana japa, etc. He always resides in my mental lotus in Guru cakra. By His grace I feel His attraction & love. I only yearn to become one with Him…

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #2340

[1] Shravan, Manan, Niddhidhyasana: Here below Baba explains the great import of these three devotional practices.

Baba says, "To attain Him human beings have to take recourse to shravana (constantly hearing His name), manana (constantly ideating on Him) and nididya'sana (constantly meditating on Him). The Supreme Entity is Gurha, that is, He is lying hidden in the innermost recess of the human entity. To attain Him one must penetrate deep within oneself, and for that the development of an introversial outlook is essential." (1)

Find out what is the highest truth - Ananda Vanii #68

Ananda Vanii states, "The first and the final word of manifestation is mobility or dynamicity. Just as movement has no cessation, the path of movement also has no end. In this very movement lies the happy union between eternal ethics and the ageless supra-sensory realization – their centripetal affinity. It is not enough for a person to merely understand and abide by the truth, rather it must be translated into reality in the practical lives of living beings. With the greatest fulfilment in buds, flowers and fruits, each and every life must be made effulgent. Everyone should be made to realize that in the path of movement the Supreme fulfilment is the highest truth." (1)

Note 1: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis.

When this relation starts then the real meaning
and fulfillment of life commences

Namaskar
Those of a materialistic mindset think that power, post, money, and worldly relations are the base of life. They think, “I live and die for this - i.e. power, post, & money etc. For this, I have come on this earth to live happily and enjoy.” In this way, due to avidya maya they pass their whole life in drowsiness. They cannot comprehend this basic fact that what they are depending upon is not permanent. Those things cannot last forever.

In this universe, everything is moving and the speed of movement also varies. So when two people are moving in with a similar speed then they are called a family. But no two persons can maintain a similar speed for long. Either one moves away, dies, divorces, or their liking or disliking changes. What they formerly cherished has now become useless in their eyes.

That is why nothing in this created world can be the base of life. None of those things can provide permanent happiness. Animals cannot comprehend this simple truth - but humans can understand it. Those who fail to comprehend it are worse than animals. The bottom line is that the Eternal Entity Parama Purusa alone is the base of life. He was with you, He is with you, and He will always be with you up to eternity. So when you have one Entity who always remains with You then why not cultivate a close and intimate relation with that Supreme Entity. That will signify the start of gaining the real meaning and fulfillment of life.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "That which is finite cannot be the base of your life, because it will be used up and will leave your mind unsheltered. Thrusting you in the abyss of darkness, it will pursue its course on the unending path. Therefore, no one except Brahma, the beginningless, endless and infinite can be the object of your mind and the base of your life.” (1)

Krsneshvar

Some confused about
purpose of Ananda Marga children’s homes

Namaskar,
Every margii family - every margii parent - hopes for their children to become dedicated and committed Ananda Margiis. This is the central aim and goal for every parent. To that end while raising the child they do so many things. They sing kiirtan to the young infant, raise the child as a vegetarian, bring the child to dharmacakra, and so much sharing and teaching is done about Ananda Marga in order to guide the precious child onto the path of dharma.

And again, the overall goal is to make that child into a committed Ananda Margii. And by His grace, that child will become a great sadhaka. But if it does not happen that does not mean that those margii parents held a different agenda. All along, their singular aim was to make that child into a dedicated Ananda Margii.

Likewise, the goal of every hospital is to cure every patient; but along the way some patients invariably die. But that does not mean that the hospital’s goal was to kill those patients. But some people think that, "No, the goal of the hospital was to kill those patients."

Similarly, the goal of every student is to pass their examination; but invariably there are many who fail. But that does not mean that the goal of those students was to fail that examination. But some people think that, "No, the goal of those students was to fail the examination."

In the same way, the goal of every Ananda Marga children’s home is to create Wts. Those kids are raised with this ideal in mind. Yet if it does not come to fruition that does not mean our Ananda Marga children’s homes do not have the goal to create Wts. But some people think that, "No, the goal of those children’s homes is not to create Wts."

So with regards to our children’s homes, no matter what those boys and girls proceed to do in life, all along the only aim was to raise those kids to be wholetime workers of Ananda Marga.

In Him,
Sadhana

Note: Remember Wt means a wholetime worker. That means someone who spends all their time - all the 24hrs - in social service work. Such Wts may or may not be a God-realised soul. Here, with respect to our Wts, an emphasis is placed on the notion that they are workers.

'Hara hara, bomb bomb’? + 3 more

Baba

This email contains four sections:

1. End Quote:  'Hara hara, bomb bomb’?
2. Wrongdoers watch out - Ananda Vanii
3. PS #1215: O' Parama Purusa, You have blessed me by coming...
4. Links

'Hara hara, bomb bomb’ or ‘Hara Hara Vyom Vyom’, which one?

Namaskar,
In India, one dogma is quite prevalent with regards to the worship of Lord Shiva. In trying to satisfy Lord Shiva, dogmatic followers first pour holy water on certain stones as if by this way Lord Shiva will get the water that He needs. They think that Lord Shiva will be pleased. And while doing this penance those dogmatic Hindus chant, 'Hara hara, bomb bomb'. All the common people know this slogan well. They have heard it always in such religious practices. Because ritualistic devotees call and address Lord Shiva as 'Hara hara, bomb bomb’  when they are involved in this type of penance.

This ritual is especially common in Bihar. Followers from the surrounding states come and and they wear special saffron cloth from head to toe, irrespective whether they are male or female and regardless of what type of clothes they are wearing. On this occasion everything they wear must be the same color: saffron. And by this ritual, the whole railway and all forms of transportation become full of saffron as millions and millions of people are wearing saffron and only saffron.

Sastaunga pranam and then getting up and then
advancing forward and then again doing satsaunga

So they travel to the holy river Gaunga (Ganges) and take holy water and begin their pilgrimage in Sultanganj to the temple far away in Deoghar. Some get there by walking; some run 100km to temple in which case it takes a few days. And some special followers get there by lying down in sastaunga pranam and then getting up and then advancing forward and then again doing satsaunga pranam. In this way they hope to please Lord Shiva by their strong penance by making the 100km journey in this way. In which case it may takes weeks and weeks to reach Lord Shiva's “holy” temple in Deoghar, Bihar. All this is done in the beginning month of the Indian rainy season. So this ritual goes on for 1 month. Along the way all those dogmatic followers repeat the mantra: 'Hara hara, Bomb bomb'. This dogma is quite common and every year several million dogmatic people participate in the ritualistic worship of Lord Shiva and they repeat again and again: 'Hara hara, bomb bomb'.

But the interesting thing is that they do not know what is meant by the term 'bomb'. As we know bombs and such type of weapons had not yet been invented when this mantra was first started. But just in their ritualistic way, they all call out-- 'Bomb, bomb'. They do not call 'Vyom, vyom'. So nobody is aware about the reality. Here Baba has made it clear what this mantra is & what is the proper pronunciation.

Below Baba solves this riddle about bomb bomb. The common people do not understand that bomb is not correct and that really vyom is correct. But Baba has explained the truth and solved this problem.

Baba says, "He who takes away all your sins, He who takes away all our umbers and cumbers is Hara. He is Hara, because He takes away all your sins, all your propensities. Now, This Hara. One cannot attain salvation without coming in contact with this Hara. He [the aspirant] will have to pass through the realm of Hara because Hara is the sublimest rank of His Cognitive Self and that's why in ancient times it was a system, rather a usage amongst the spiritual aspirants to chant a mantra, which was a very favourite mantra : Hara Hara Vyom Vyom."

"Think of that Hara, think of that Hara, He will take away  all your sins; think of that Hara, Meditate on that Hara. Hara Hara Vyom Vyom. Vyom is the subtlest form of matter. Ether is called Vyoma i.e., your mind should go from crude towards subtle. In the realm of physicality it will think of Vyoma and in the realm of spirituality it will, think of Hara' "Hara Hara Vyom Vyom, Hara Hara Vyom Vyom".  (1)

Satyaki

Wrongdoers watch out: blows boomeranged and
ultimately the evil forces were annihilated
Ananda Vanii #41

Ananda Vanii states, History bears testimony that whenever a person states the absolute truth in any sphere of life, whether it be spiritual, social, economic or otherwise; sought clarification of doubts or protested against injustice and wrongs, the evil forces forthwith plotted against the person, administered poison, slandered and assaulted that person with rage, misused authority and mercilessly dealt blow after blow; but the blows boomeranged and ultimately the evil forces were annihilated by those very blows. Remember, by an unalterable decree of history, the evil forces are destined to meet their final doom.(1)

Engage yourself in such useful pursuits
that even your worst enemies
- Ananda Vanii #33

Ananda Vanii states, "After millions of animal lives, a created being attains the human form. That is why all the sacred books speak of the rarity of human life. The wise properly utilize all objects and this utilization alone makes the existence of the object worthy. You have achieved the human frame. You must make it meaningful by your sádhaná, service and sacrifice. Engage yourself in such useful pursuits that even your worst enemies have hardly any chance to despise you. Utilize yourself in such a manner so as to satisfy yourself mentally, that you never wasted your time uselessly on this earth." (1)

*********************************************
Animals have few but the human mind is occupied with all 50 occupations

Here are the first 49 propensities...

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “dharma (psycho-spiritual longing), artha (psychic longing), káma (physical longing), mokśa (spiritual longing), avajiṋá (belittlement of others), múrcchá (psychic stupor, lack of common sense), prashraya (indulgence), avishvása (lack of confidence), sarvanásha (thought of sure annihilation), kruratá (cruelty), lajjá (shyness, shame), pishunatá (sadistic tendency), iirśá (envy), suśupti (staticity, sleepiness), viśáda (melancholia), kaśáya (peevishness), trśńá (yearning for acquisition), moha (infatuation), ghrna (hatred, revulsion), bhaya (fear), asha (hope), cinta (worry), cesta (effort), mamata (mineness), dambha (vanity), viveka (conscience), vikalata (mental numbness due to fear), ahamkara (ego), lalata (avarice), kapatata (hypocrisy), vitarka (argumentativeness to the point of wild exaggeration), anutapa (repentance), śad́aja (sound of peacock), rśabha (sound of bull), gándhára (sound of goat), madhyama (sound of deer), paiṋcama (sound of cuckoo), dhaevata (sound of donkey), niśáda (sound of elephant), oṋm (acoustic root of creation), hum (sound of arousing kulakuńd́alinii), phat́ (putting theory into practice), vaośat́ (expression of mundane knowledge), vaśat́ (welfare in subtler sphere), svaha (performing noble actions), namah (surrender to the Supreme), vis'a (repulsive expression), amrta (sweetness in expression), apara (mundane knowledge)...” (1)

And the 50th propensity and the only vrtti a sadhaka should seek is: para (spiritual knowledge).

Re: About vishes'a yoga

Yes Dada you are a master diplomat...trying to assert that those of who do not have  Vishesha do not need it. And you are most certainly correct. Yes it is also true that those of us do not need Vishesha...we can reach the goal with Nama mantra alone and parabhakti.

Govinda

Here is an excerpt from the original letter upon which the above comment was made.

Essentially, the Gayattrii Rk (Gayattrii mantra) is for those who have yet to attain tantric diiksa. Yet that same Gayattrii Rk (Gayattrii mantra) is a central aspect of vishes’a yoga. Thus those practicing vishes’a yoga are using a Rk or mantra that is not needed if one has tantric diiksa, i.e. Ananda Marga sadhana, i.e. sahaja yoga.

Even if this article wakes up just one person from ignorance and moves him or her on Baba's side ..it was worh this much effort that went in to writing this . Very deep and thoughtful analysis indeed.

Here is an excerpt from the original letter upon which the above comment was made.

those margiis who got favours from groupist Dadas and Didis should show their gratitude by bringing those workers onto the proper path – otherwise they will become just like Karna.

Unfortunately, because Karna got food, shelter, and friendship from Duryodhana, Karna became sentimental and in his ways of simple morality he thought that, “Since Duryodhana helped me on my bad days, how can I go against him. Rather I must follow whatever he says.”

By this way, the heroic Karna thought he was properly expressing his gratitude towards Duryodhana. When actually he was doing harm and committing sin.

O’ Parama Purusa, You have created huge tidal waves
in the ocean of divine effulgence

"Álor sáyare d́heu jágáyecho, alakár sudhá jharáyecho, tumi..." (Prabhat Samgiita #865)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, You have created huge tidal waves in the ocean of divine effulgence, and You are showering the nectar of the immortal world. After dispelling the dark fog, Baba You have graciously brought the crimson dawn.

O’ Parama Purusa,  You have given the message of liberation into the dumb and inert human mind. The human heart which was burned with the trit’ap [1], to that heart You have quenched the thirst for the infinite, by Your grace.

O’ Parama Purusa, Baba, You want to see that all move together in harmony, by eliminating the distinction between human and human. For this reason, You painted the picture of a brilliant new era at the time of the emergence of human intellect - and also introduced neohumanism.

End Note for Prabhat Samgiita #865

[1] Trit’ap: three afflictions

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Human capacity is very limited – we cannot ignore this truth. Human afflictions are trifarious: physical, psychic and spiritual. The physical afflictions originate from the material world and the psychic afflictions from the unmanifest world or human mind. In some countries of the world people have abundant supplies of food and clothes, but are they happy? No, they too suffer from pains and miseries, troubles and diseases. They too mourn the loss of their nearest and dearest ones. These are psychic afflictions. Next are the spiritual afflictions. The periphery of human mind is small, and this small mind remains engrossed with limited objects. The mind must be raised above these limited objects, above the world of limited happiness, into the limitless spiritual world. Limited psychic wealth is the root cause of spiritual afflictions. The state of breaking the bondages of limitations is known as “spiritual liberation.” When that liberation is permanent it is called “salvation”.” (AV-4, Artha and Paramárth)

Do's and don'ts of pracara + 3 more

Do's and don'ts of pracara

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Preach only satya. Whatever you have done with reasons thereof. Also, make it clear to them what you want to do and why you want to do.  The result of this highly useful (helpful) preaching is that the inferiority complex disappears from the mind of the common men. They are encouraged when they see that a common man like themselves is inspired with such a high ideal. The second result of this is as follows. The common result of this is as follows. The common people are not generally aware of your usefully high ideas. In every work, big or small, they cling to selfishness. So, learning everything pure and high through your easy and simple language they will co-operate with you, with a mind free from wrong notions. The third outcome of this is that they will be shorn off the wrong notions that may have crept into them by the propaganda made by the selfish persons with vested interests."

"Win over their heart by propagating satya but without abusing anyone. When, they will feel the ideal of satya and come to know of your untiring karma sa'dhana', naturally, they will abandon their wrong notions about you; they will even start respecting you."

"Even in private life when a person behaves with you badly or uses harsh words, don't behave with him in the same manner. You shall explain to him his duties gently. In case, anyone has a wrong impression, you shall show him the right path without scolding (abusing) him. Make it clear to him if possible with practical demonstration how harmful may be the effect of such habits. But always keep this in mind that in such cases your behavior must be like that of a friend, and never like that of an instructor. Your only object will be to get your advice accepted by him. the idea that he is fool and you are wise is not desirable in any party." (1)

Note: Here Baba is giving us invaluable guidelines for going pracara and bringing all onto the path of bliss.

1) At all times we should follow the code of satya - i.e. speaking the truth for universal welfare, never giving way to falsehood out of self-interest.

2) Those suffering from a superiority complex are unable to properly guide or teach others. For them, doing Ananda Marga pracar is basically impossible.

3) However, in the Supreme Command, Baba has allotted us the special duty "to bring all to the path of bliss" - to bring all to the divine path of Ananda Marga. So this is a very sacred task which our Guru has given. Indeed it is the greatest social duty of human life.

4) Plus, we know that when Parama Purusa takes advent on this dusty earth then He Himself does not waste His time in any type of material pursuit; rather, He dedicates His each and every for the all-round development & emancipation of human beings.

5) The conclusion is that the most virtuous aspect of human life is serving others. And the best service - the most lasting service - is doing dharma pracar. For this reason we should sincerely follow Baba's above guideline.

in Him,
Mayadhiisha

The path of movement is not always strewn with flowers
nor is it always beset with thorns
Ananda Vanii #74

Ananda Vanii states, Everything in this universe is moving. The hours, days, human beings, stars, planets, nebula – all are on the move. Movement is a must for all, there is no scope for its cessation. The path of movement is not always smooth or strewn with flowers nor is it always beset with thorns or encumbered with violent clashes. According to the nature of the path, human beings will have to prepare themselves and move courageously. In that movement alone lies the very essence of life.”  (1)

Note 1: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis.

You came showering Your divine karuńá -
and filled my mental sky with the colour of devotion

"Ghor tamasa'y esechile, a'loy bhuvan bhariye dile..."  P.S. 2749

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, You came in Cimmerian darkness, and filled the universe with the illumination of devotion. When society was in a state of deep slumber and there was Cimmerian darkness all around, then You came and filled this universe with Your divine effulgence. Baba, You created the vibration and established dharma.

O' Supreme Entity Bab, You looked towards humanity, kindled the flame of bhakti, and spread the bond of love amongst one and all. In the past humans were fighting between groups and clans. Now society is moving towards one Goal, Parama Purusa.

O' Parama Purusa, in the flow of rhythm, You filled everything with melodies. In the past people did not have proper songs, melodies, or tunes; even they did not know how to speak properly. You gave us everything: A new language and a proper voice. You came showering Your divine karuńá - and filled my mental sky with the colour of devotion. You made everything colourful. Whether small, big, meager or vast, everyone started dancing with flow of devotion due to Your august arrival.

Baba, this entire universe is filled with Your effulgence; it is Your grace...

Notes For Prabhat Samgiita #2749

Karun'a': This is when one is pained by seeing another's suffering and feels, "I should help them get rid from the trouble they are facing." This type of empathetic feeling is karun'a'. For example, suppose you saw one beggar who is suffering. By seeing his pitiful situation then you felt in your heart that "I should help him and remove his suffering – he should get some help right away." This very feeling of the heart towards that suffering beggar is the expression of karuna'.

Suppose a bhakta is suffering in the spiritual realm because of so many problems and difficulties, and they are unable to move ahead in sadhana and devotional life. In such circumstances, Parama Purusa cannot bear to watch His bhaktas go through so much struggle and strife. When devotees are helpless and trying hard to progress in sadhana but their pathway is completely obstructed and they cannot advance in the spiritual sphere or any sphere of life – overcome by various complexes, bondages, and obstacles – then a feeling of deep, deep empathy develops in the mind of Parama Purusa.

This feeling or mind-set, motivated by seeing their suffering, is karun'a' bha'va. Parama Purusa feels He must rescue them immediately from their spiritual retardation. In that moment, the help He gives to the devotee is the showering of His karun'a'. With His immense feeling of karun'a', He blesses His devotees and relieves them of their pain and suffering in their devotional life. This is nothing but His divine karun'a': Wherein Parama Purus'a cares for the devotees and removes their troubles and hindrances so that once again they can move ahead on the path of sadhana. That is the meaning of karun'a'.

Difference Between Krpa' & Karun'a'

In the case of karun'a', Parama Purusa is moved by a bhakta's suffering and comes forward to save that bhakta from their difficulties. With krpa' (grace), the bhakta is not suffering but even then Parama Purusa is bestowing His blessing.

It is just like if a baby is sick and with great empathy a neighbor selflessly gives that infant more attention without expecting anything in return. That neighbor just lovingly places the sick baby on her lap in a very special way and feeds the baby. That is karuna. Because the neighbor is moved and motivated into action by seeing the sick child's suffering. In contrast, if that same baby is not sick, and the neighbor just wishes to bring the baby on her lap to feed the baby, then that is krpa.

Similarly, when out of empathy Parama Purusa lovingly comes to the aid of His suffering devotee to relieve them of their spiritual strife, that is His karuna; and, if that same devotee is not suffering devotionally, yet Baba still bestows His blessing, that is His krpa.

So there is a distinct difference between krpa (grace) and karuna (compassion).

When Parama Purusa showers His karuna He helps that suffering person and relieves them of their pain and agony - in all spheres of life.

Mahaprayan of an Acarya

Baba

Mahaprayan of an Acarya

Namaskar,
It is with much sadness that we share with you news of the mahaprayan (death) of Ac Kedarji. Respected Acaryaji breathed his last on 6th August 2015 at around 4pm at Arraha, Supaul, Bihar India. He was 96 years old at the time of his mahaprayan, and surely all will remember him as an ardent devotee of the Lord - Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji.

Many are aware that Acarya Kedarji had a long and colourful history in AMPS and was part of many significant events. Acaryaji came into Ananda Marga and was initiated into tantra sadhana in 1956. And over the many years and decades he fulfilled his dharmic duties of serving Sadguru Baba and the society. His passing is a loss to us all - and the greater humanity.

May we all take solace in the fact that our dear Ac Kedarji was a devotee of Sadguru Baba. Certainly he will attain mukti or moksa, accordingly. Baba will lovingly bestow His grace and he will remain under His Supreme shelter.

at the lotus feet of Baba,
Ramdev

Note 1: "Mahaprayan" means death - confirm for yourself
from the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary

Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in Bengal to describe the death of any human being, even ordinary people. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no devotees ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

Here it should be known that the convention of an annual death day ceremony (i.e. shraddhainjali or mahaprayan) is a foundation of the Islamic tradition. Muslims are well known for this, and their approach of an annual death day ceremony was adopted by the leader of a particular group in AMPS. So no one should think that mahaprayan is some type of sacred event. It is done on the death day anniversary of Muslims.

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it is used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens.

Note 2: Mahaprayan is only for humans
Parama Purusa is eternal

Here it should be qualified that there is both real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being, just like the aforesaid news. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa Himself. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Sadguru Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa.

Note 3: Story: - sitting on Baba's lap means died?
(contributed by one margii)

Recently after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba.

He said, "After being punished by Baba, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his story, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries.

"How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this.

The new sadhaka sensed that something was awry.

He said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if in order to sit on Baba’s lap one has to die. But that is false. Sincere sadhakas regularly sit on Baba’s lap in their meditation. It is His grace. It is just like a child need not die in order to sit on hi father’s lap.

Sitting on Baba's lap
must not only refer to death

At that moment I thought that everyone, new and old, should be clear about the real and devotional meaning of this phrase, "being on Baba's lap." It should not become stigmatized such that it only means death. Because in its true sense, the phrase "being on Baba's lap" really does carry a highly devotional and sweet feeling.

It is just like how a small child sits on its parent's lap. In a similar way, a spiritual child (human being) sits on the lap of Parama Purusa. By Baba's grace this can happen anytime in one's sadhana, especially in dhyana. Such a phrase then should not become  stigmatized because too many people only use it at the time of death.

We should be careful that we do not relegate "Baba's lap" only to the point of death.

The connotation of death must not become synonymous with "being on Baba's lap." Because the phrase - "being on Baba's lap" - is a devotional experience that can happen today itself in sadhana, and especially in dhyana. The phrase "being on Baba's lap" should not lose this quality and only mean death. It should not meet the same dark fate as happened with the term harijan. Nowadays, for the occasion of death / mahaprayan, 99.9% of the time people use the phrase "on Baba's lap", and for devotional stories the phrase "on Baba's lap" is used 0.01% of the time. That is why - for devotional purposes - this phrase is already included on the endangered species list.

Must not meet same fate as "harijan"

As we all know, these days in India nobody uses the term harijan to mean "a devotee". Whereas 70 years ago it was used in that way. The term harijan did mean bhakta. But ever since the time of Gandhi when he glued the harijan term to the lowest so-called caste, i.e so-called untouchables, nobody uses the the harijan to mean devotee. Never. Because the term harijan has been stigmatized to mean "untouchable". Nobody uses it to mean "devotee", but that is the original and true meaning of the word.

The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its devotional quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

Baba would bless devotees and place them on His lap

There are thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap.     People should understand the deeply devotional value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and dhyana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply devotional experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana and especially during dhyana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a devotional practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in dhyana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.

Dogma:
now "on Baba's lap" only used for death

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in BÁBÁ'S loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. Of course, it is fine to write like that. Here the point is that this same phrase "in Baba's lap" should also be used when describing one's devotional practices and experiences. But these days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's devotional experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their devotional feeling. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

Here again is the central idea:

The idea is that this phrase - Baba's lap - has been linked with death due to extreme overuse. So for some time if sadhakas use this phrase exclusively for devotional purposes, that will be best.

Why ritualistic puja, arcana, dakśińá are fruitless + who is your enemy?

Baba

This email contains four sections:

1. PS #4874:
With the virtue of my pújá, arcaná, and dakśińá, I could not get You

2. Time has come to blow trumpets of victory - Ananda Vanii #3
3. End Quote:

With the virtue of my pújá, arcaná, and dakśińá, I could not get You

"Tiirthe tomáre khunjiá páiini,gáne dharivár prayás kori,..." (4874)

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, I searched for You in different so-called holy places but I utterly failed to find You. My whole approach was meaningless, just a waste of time. Because my  quest  was based on dogma and ignorance.  That is why I was met with failure and could not reach unto You. So now I am trying to reach You through Prabhat Samgiita songs. In the first phase - indulging in lies and hypocrisy I didn’t succeed in getting You. But, by Your grace, now I am moving on the path of satya, eternal truth.

Baba, I heard that You remained in Your heavenly abode - satya loka - while I lie in the deepest, darkest depths, drowned in all kinds of vices, i.e. at the bottom of the underworld, wasting time only in eating sleeping and procreation and not doing sadhana. Alas, I thought that with the virtue of my ritualistic pújá [1], arcaná [2], and dakśińá [3], I could have You close. I thought by this way I would get You, but instead it was just a waste of time.

O' the Supreme Entity, I wondered why I was not getting You and was just remaining far away. I thought You are very distant from me so I can’t get Your proximity.  Now how can I dye my mind, in Your colour?  Baba, let Your grace, Your blessing, and the devotional strength of my longing for You, pull me and draw me close to You.

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #4874:

[1] Ritualistic puja: Any type of worship that involves praying and making offerings to an idol, going to tiirthas, singing hymns to the idol etc

[2] Arcana: Any worship done with external paraphernalia or worldly offering such as flowers, sandalwood., colours etc.

Some dogmatic Hindu worshipers collect physical articles, lamps, and flowers and do certain rituals to honour and call the Lord. That is arcana. In our Ananda Marga that physical, external, and ritualistic approach does not belong.

And Baba tells us, "The type of worship which is performed with selfish motive and external paraphernalia is called arca or arcana." (1)

[3] Daksina: Offering in cash and kind (sweets, money) made to the priest.

Typical arcana tray materials used in dogmatic Hindu worship

Below is the photo of arcana tray and the various materials used in dogmatic Hindu worship. Overall there are innumerable types of arcanas where different mundane materials are involved. Here is one sample of one type of arcana used in worshipping the deity. Shown below are edibles. scents, colour, paste & sweets, and two idols. Other arcana materials include dainties and delicacies, flowers, grains, nuts, leaves, fragrance, medicine, clothes, ornaments all types of household things can be sued - they are countless.

Time has come to blow the trumpets of victory - Ananda Vanii #3

Ananda Vanii states, “Thorns on the path cannot deter those who have assembled with the determination to march in unison. They are blowing the trumpets of victory in an effort to conquer the universe of a timid mind. O human beings march ahead – let the song of march be your only slogan.” (1)

Note: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis.

== Section 3 ==

Who is your enemy?

Baba says, "In the Vedic language, the word 'guru' is derived from the root 'gur' plus the suffix 'un'. The root 'gur' means 'to train others how to speak, how to behave in a dignified manner'. The Guru teaches us to follow a methodical way of life. To love is not the only work of the Guru. One who only loves you is your enemy, and one who only punishes you is also your enemy. But the one who both loves and punishes in a balanced way is the real Guru." (1)

Note: Along with the Guru-disciple relation, this aforesaid Baba's teaching is equally applicable in (a) ideal parent-child relations, (b) ideal "shraman'a"-trainee relations, and (c) ideal teacher-student relations.
