Mahaprayan of unit secretary

Baba

Mahaprayan of unit secretary

Namaskar,

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the mahaprayan of Shrii Radheshyam of Jamalpur. His mahaprayan occurred on 18th June 2020. He was an established margii who was the unit secretary of Jamalpur.

Brother Radeshyam jii was very dutiful and a strong adherent to AM ideals, always eager and ready to follow the teachings of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji. And he was very kind and service-minded. He will be sorely missed by one and all.

May we all take solace in the fact that Shrii Radeshyam was a bhakta of Sadguru Baba. Certainly he will attain mukti or moksa, accordingly. Baba will lovingly bestow His infinite grace.

in Him,
Caetanya Deva

Note: Here is an alert for those cremating a dead body in India or Indian managed cremation homes around the world. Their custom is to put the fire in the mouth of the deceased to initiate the burning of the body. This is prohibited in AM as it is uncivilised. So watch out; do not allow this. If you are not careful, they will end up cremating the body in this manner. Make them aware ahead of time.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The practice of putting fire into the mouth of the dead body is repulsive, it should not be encouraged." (Caryacarya - 1, Disposal of the Dead Body)

~ In-depth study ~

We have seen that when somebody dies then in offering their condolences people say now Mr So-and-so is sitting on Baba's lap. On other occasions when telling a Baba story people also say, "Such and such person sat on Baba's lap." But these days the trend is that "sitting on Baba's lap" is used more in connection with death. And that causes some confusion in reader's mind. To unknot the situation please read below.

Dogma: if "on Baba's lap" only used for death

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:

- "May Parama Purusa Baba accept her in HIS divine lap"

- "We pray to Baba - please give him shelter in his lap... "

- "May his soul rest in the lap of our beloved BABA"

- "Now she is taking rest in Baba's Lap."

- "May Baba accept him in HIS divine lap....."

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in Bábá's loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in peace taking shelter in Baba's lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

- "We all collectively pray to Baba to take him on Baba's divine lap forever.”

All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. These days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's intimate spiritual experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their inner feelings of bhakti. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

Baba story: "sitting on Baba's lap"

Some time ago after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba. He said, "After being lovingly scolded by Baba for my wrongdoings, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his factual and historical event, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries. Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this. The new sadhaka sensed that something was wrong He said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if in order to sit on Baba’s lap one has to die. But that is false. Sincere sadhakas regularly sit on Baba’s lap in their meditation. It is His grace. It is just like a child need not die in order to sit on his father’s lap.

The idea is that this phrase - Baba's lap - has been linked with death due to extreme overuse. So for some time if sadhakas use this phrase exclusively for spiritual purposes, that will be best. The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its pure spiritual quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

Baba would bless bhaktas and place them on His lap

There are tens of thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap. People should understand the deeply mystical value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and sadhana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply intimate experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a spiritual practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in sadhana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.

"Mahaprayan" means death of mortals - confirm for yourself
from the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary

Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in our Bengal to describe the death of any human being, even ordinary people. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily term of bhakti to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no bhaktas ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

Here it should be known that the convention of an annual death day ceremony (i.e. shraddhainjali or mahaprayan) is a foundation of the Islamic tradition. Muslims are well known for this, and their approach of an annual death day ceremony was adopted by the leader of a particular group in AMPS. So no one should think that mahaprayan is some type of sacred event. It is done on the death day anniversary of Muslims.

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary 3rd edition on page 848. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it is used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens. And that is the case in this letter also. The term mahaprayan means death and this is the ideal term for this purpose.

Mahaprayan is only for humans not for Sadguru

Here it should be qualified that there is both real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being, just like the aforesaid news. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Sadguru Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa. Those doing mahaprayan for Sadguru are hypocrites. On the one side in meditation they ask His grace thinking that He is ever-present, and on the other side they think that Baba has passed away. That is their hypocrisy.

Ideal wt + 5 more

Baba

Ideal wt

Namaskar,

Madhukar is that black bee which encircles the flowers and only takes that food which it needs at that very moment - nothing more. The madhukar does not gather and hoard buckets and buckets of pollen to eat later.

A step beyond that is the ajagar, or python, which does not even move to get its food; it merely eats what comes across its path. So not only does it not gather extra, but that ajagar does not even spend time or make special efforts to secure any food.

Wt way of life

In the aparigraha section of the Senior Acarya Diary, Baba specifically states that the madhukar and ajagar represent the only two ways for our Wts to exist in this world. In their personal lives, our Dadas and Didis are to adjust with the minimum necessities of life - and not get caught up in materialistic pursuits like hoarding money etc. Our Wts are to use their precious time and energy serving and helping others in all realms, including spiritual elevation. That is the spirit of madhukarii and ajagarii vrttis.

Unfortunately, now in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha, things are developing in an entirely different way. A capitalistic mentality has seeped into our sannyási order as some of our wts have just taken to collecting money, automobiles, big buildings, and registering these things in their own name. Yet all this goes 100% against Baba's guideline of ajagarii and madhukarii vrttis from Senior Acarya Diary.

The basic formula is that the mind is one; so if one is rushing after money then that same mind does not have inspiration to run after Parama Purusa. Human mind is one, not many.

How the Wt cadre gets degraded

When the current so-called leaders of AMPS pursue material gain, then there is a ripple effect. Many field workers are idealistic, but when so-called top Dadas shirk their sannyási vows then that adversely affects others. In addition, so-called top Dadas force field workers to pay dues. That means they have to pay taxes to so-called higher dadas otherwise they are harassed, threatened, punished, and abused.

Instead of getting respect on points of sadhuhood, restraint, sadhana, helping others, and sacrifice, the culture of our Wt cadre has shifted over to a materialistic or capitalist way of living where prestige is given according to one's monetary status and post etc. Certain hoarder Dadas are using their money to garner a lot of respect. However, the real determining factor of a sannyási is conduct. That is the main  measuring rod for determining one's calibre.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Those who have the responsibility to show the path to others should be of superlative character with the most refined conduct. They and their followers must move constantly towards all-round development and shreya [ultimate spiritual attainment]. Persons who teach such well-regulated behaviour to others by their own conduct are called ácáryas." (1)

Transferred Wts sell the property

Baba's guideline for being an ideal Wt / acarya is quite clear. Sadly, all those many Wts who are properly leading a life of renunciation by adhering to the codes of madhukar and ajagar vrttis are victimised by so-called top Dadas. At present, the power structure in AMPS is entirely upside-down. Those so-called central Wts with big pockets have all the power, whereas those service-minded wholetimers are looked upon as a liability and pushed aside.

So if a particular Wt generates revenue by any means - just or unjust - and gives that money to so-called Centre then they get a high post and lots of prestige; in contrast, if one Wt firmly adheres to 16 Points and their vow of renunciation then they are looked upon as being outdated and expendable, and are written off as a liability and a beggar, unfortunately.

Sell property & shift money to own black account

This corporate approach where money is king is not the way things are supposed to be in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha sannyási order. Baba has designed it completely differently - based on the ideals of the madhukarii and ajagarii vrttis where renunciation, not individual ownership, is everything.

For example, in the true Ananda Marga system, if a Wt has been working in a particular location for a few years, then when a transfer order is given that very Wt will automatically hand over all monies, equipment, funds, and property to the incoming worker. And the Wt who got transferred is to leave that area only with his dress and laungota in hand - nothing else, except possibly a bus ticket to his new posting.

Now, however, all that has changed: When transferred those so-called top Wts sell the property, shift the money to their own black account, clean out all other financial resources, and hand over nil (nothing) to the newly posted worker.

Extreme greed & selfishness

Tragically, in today's AMPS sannyási culture, selflessness is not the value cherished by so-called top Dadas. Now when a posting order comes, most often the Wt who got transferred departs with all the money from the bank account, or that Dada might sell the property and keep the profit, or he might send a cash donation to so-called Centre in order to remain at his post. Or so many things might happen, including sending the monetary wealth and possessions of that jagrti to their laokik family.

Due to a lack of sadhana and straying from the path of madhukarii and ajagarii vrttis, some in our WT system have veered off course, where money - not renunciation - is everything. This severely hinders the ability of workers to serve humanity.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

So-called Centre with a special, luxury car

For instance: A Wt is living on an MU with no house and is begging food from villagers as he tries to start various service projects. But then when a senior Dada from so-called Centre arrives with a special, luxury car then the common people think all workers must have a lot of money. They think, "Why is this other Wt begging from me." When there is a huge incongruity between so-called top Wts and the common people, then there will be feelings of difference. Then our AMPS is unable to serve the local populace.

Not the fault of new Wts: We cannot blame our younger wts. Rather with pure intention they entered into a system that quickly became ideologically askew due to the greed of the ruling so-called Wts.

When those so-called top Wts travel around by private jet, chauffeur driven automobiles, keep houses and luxury suites, and deposit millions into their personal bank accounts, then idealistic young workers have hardly a chance of maintaining their vow of renunciation. Rather some get swept up into that, lest they face the consequences of getting pushed aside and receiving one punishment posting after another.

One other outcome of this is that the general margiis or common people see so-called top Dadas living luxuriously and traveling in style. So when simple Wts go around for donations or seek financial support, then the public accuses them of being disingenuous and trying to dupe them. They say, “Why are you asking me for money when you live in such a fancy way - traveling in high-class trains etc.” The public does not realise that only so-called big Dadas live large, and really the so-called lower Wts are truly in need. This is now so-called top Wts undermine the livelihood and reputation of all Wts.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Need of renunciation & dedication

However, to truly become a force in this world dedication is needed. There are some organisations and religious groups that "succeed and thrive" on this earth because of their dedication. Oftentimes their aims are awry, but they serve and help each other and eat together as one family and that is enough for them to gain success and spread their teachings from one land to the next.

This very faculty of sacrifice is missing in our AMPS nowadays. That is why despite having the great teachings of dharma in our books, due to this blatant lack of renunciation and dedication to help and serve others, our AMPS is stuck, unfortunately. Mostly because of a few bad apples.

So the spirit of madhukar and ajagar is deeply needed in our Wt sannyási order. Sadly, some Wts are doing anything and everything for their own self and nothing for the welfare of our collective. One bad apple spoils the bunch. When so-called central Dadas are acting selfishly, hoarding money, indulging in luxuries, and going against the spirit of renunciation, then that taints and undermines our entire WT cadre.

It is a shame. There is no dearth of dedicated workers and margiis in Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. There are so many good people. But those dedicated workers just get pushed aside in one corner by the so-called ruling elite. By this entire manner, the spirit of renunciation and the sacrifice represented by our saffron flag and saffron coloured sannyási dress has been severely compromised.

Those sinners have suddenly vanished

"Áji, tomári parashe tomári haraśe, dharańii ut́hilo hási…” (Prabhat Samgiita #0734)

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, today, basking in Your ever-flowing krpa of joy and moved by Your warm touch, all mortals - all my brothers and sisters - have started smiling. Everyone is wholly ensconced in Your cosmic rhythm and infinite bliss. From all corners, human beings everywhere are expressing their heartfelt feeling by proclaiming: "Supreme Entity, my Dearmost, I love You so much.”

Most Compassionate One, in the flow of Your grace and blessings, the dark fog has lifted in the mere blink of an eye. Those sinners, trying to extinguish Your spirituality, universal ideology, and teachings of neo-humanism, were like dark fog, and today those very sinners have suddenly vanished from the world in a flash. It is Your krpa.

Those thoughts which were previously lying suppressed in seed form, in the realm of imagination, have today descended down into the core of all mortals. All have started thinking about bhagavad dharma. With this kindling of light on earth, every jiiva is now trying to merge into the seven realms - and play the divine flute in unison, with one Supreme Goal in mind...

Who is responsible for divisions of AMPS

Ananda Marga ideology states, "In the Mahabharata period, it was the rule that the country head was held responsible if a person died of starvation. Not merely this, if there was an early death, if a child of five or so died, people regarded it as a flaw in the ruling structure." (1)

Note: In His above teaching, Baba is revealing the fact that leaders are directly responsible for all the existing problems in society. And nowadays our AMPS is riddled with all sorts of problems. Margii rights have been curtailed, and the Bhukti Pradhan system has been rigged. Groupism is rampant.

The key responsible person is the long-time B group leader, Ac Sarvatmananda ji. Secondly, the fault lies with Acaryas Rudrananada ji, Parmeshvarananda ji, Vandanananda ji, and Ananda Giita Didi etc. First it was Dada Sarvatmananda ji who incited and introduced all these horrific problems. And then it was Acaryas Rudrananda ji, Parmeshvarananda ji, Vandanananda ji, Ananda Giita Didi etc who adopted all these exploitative policies of Dada Sarvatmananda ji. Such leaders are most definitely responsible for their own misdeeds like derailing margii rights etc.

AM ideology across the galaxies

Here below is an English summary of Baba’s above Hindi teaching.

The small nucleus of Ananda Marga dharma which we first started in Jamalpur has extended its circumference far beyond the limited frontiers of that small town, and has now spread not only all over the world, but it has spread across many different planets and still it is spreading and will go on spreading.
