Sad state: Wts & rakhi dogma + 3 more

Baba
Sad state: Wts & rakhi dogma

Namaskar,

Sadguru Baba's dharmic proclamation is "dogma no more, dogma no more." Thus when we see any dogma taking root in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha then we must be vigilant to yank it out. Around this time, some of our Didis make their plans for participating in the dogmatic Hindu ritual named raksha bandhan, or simply rakhi.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Yet this ritual radically undermines the status of females and reinforces male domination. It is completely against the dharmic codes of Ananda Marga ideology. So we must take swift steps to derail raksha bandhan dogma.

How the dogmatic raksha bandhan is observed

Many outside Delhi sector may not be familiar with the Hindu dogma of raksha bandhan. So here is a very brief description. Each year on or around the occasion of Shravanii Purnima, females tie a special string or bracelet - known as  a rakhi - around the wrist of a male they trust. By this way, such females are acknowledging their own weakness and requesting that particular male to protect and guard them.

Sadly, this annual dogmatic ritual reinforces the inferiority complex that females harbour. All know that in India the rights of females are limited - there is a long history of female exploitation and male domination. So a ritual like raksha bandhan, where females surrender to their male protectorate, only further undermines the status of women. Yet sadly, some Didis are still participating in this dogma. They are selecting various Dadas with whom they wish to tie a rakhi. And apparently they have been doing this the last few years, so already this dogma is taking root. Yet, prior to 1990, no one dared do such a thing.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

And verily, Baba's guideline is that everyone on this earth - male or female - should stand tall. And He delivers a staunch warning never to bow down at the altar of dogma and pseudo-culture like raksha bandhan.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "If one’s spine is shattered, it is impossible to hold one’s head erect. Can those whose necks and backs are crushed under the weight of pseudo-culture, be expected to hold their heads high in any sphere of life? Hence it is the bounden duty of every rational person to save innocent people from pseudo-culture." (1)

Organised female humiliation ritual

Yet, by participating in rakhi, year after year, innocent females are cementing the idea in their mind that they are unable to stand up for themselves. Females are surrendering to male superiority, and this begins at a very young age. This raksha bandhan ritual is the epitome of pseudo-culture - it is wholly irrational, illogical, and debilitating.

Our Didis are supposed to pave the pathway for smashing such cultural dogmas like raksha bandhan. But instead, they themselves are participating in this ceremony of female submission. This runs completely counter to the spirit of tantra and what it means to be a wholetimer Didi. Such Didis are literally ruining themselves and throwing society back into the stone ages by accepting this raksha bandhan ritual.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

The raksha bandhan dogma violates our AM way of life entirely and crosses the line of humiliation and degradation. For any sister to senselessly surrender at the altar of male domination year after year does not amount to protecting and advancing the female cause. Rather it undermines the very stature of women.

So raksha bandhan is a degrading and humiliating ritual. No one should think that it carries any spirit of welfare. Nor is it just one innocent gesture or cute game etc. Rather, it is a veritable poison for society.

Naive girls are duped

One part of the raksha dogma not mentioned above is that after the girl ties a rakhi on the male's wrist - and they may do this with many males - then those males give that girl a gift - in cash or kind. So some females think that, "This is great I will be getting some money." But the real result is that they are selling their soul and losing their humanity by subjecting themselves in this way. Doing this for money is not good.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Now is the time to step forward and end this dogma of raksha bandhan. And the first move is that our respected Didis must refrain from supporting and participating in this dogma. So we hope those didis who plan on participating in raksha bandhan this year reconsider their decision.

Lastly, this dogma is not a one-sided affair, no Wt Dada or margii brother should accept a rakhi from any Didi / sister - not under any circumstances.

More points against the rakhi dogma

(a) Males are physically stronger, and females are inherently weaker on the physical plane. So we should not turn this natural disparity into a business relation whereby only if you tie a rakhi will males protect you. Rather males should always help and defend females because it is their duty.

(b) In Caryacarya, Sadguru Baba has enlisted the festivals that are celebrated in Ananda Marga. And raksha bandhan is not listed there. It is wrong to add this dogmatic affair of raksha bandhan to our dharmic and neo-humanistic selection of Ananda Marga festivals.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

(c) By creating a women's militia, Sadguru Baba gave the silent message that females are not inferior or subservient. Yet raksha bandhan goes against this ethic and infuses the dogma that females are dependent upon males.

Dogma: "We women too weak to stand up for ourselves"

Some may naively question, "What is wrong with tying a rakhi - it is an innocent thing to do." But those who know better understand what a dangerous dogma this is. And to best understand it one must put themselves in their shoes. For instance, if you ask any male in India if they want to tie a rakhi around the wrist of a female and accept that female as their protectorate, they will balk at the offer. No male will subjugate themselves in this way. It would be absolutely humiliating - they would become the laughingstock of the town.

So from afar it may look innocent, but if you ask someone else to do this they will not like to accept this lowly and demoralizing position. The message is basically, "We women are too weak to defend or stand up for ourselves, so we surrender to males for our protection and we bind ourselves to them by tying a rakhi. In the mundane plane we do not trust the women’s militia created by Baba. We think women are weak so those women's militias cannot protect us. Instead we are surrendering to our male counterparts to protect us. That is why we tied a raksha bandhan - thread of security - onto a male’s wrist." No rational person would accept such subjugation.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

I would like to request the supporters of this dogma to open their eyes. Baba has given equal status to males and females. We should not allow anyone to impose this degrading mindset and belittling attitude upon our young girls.

Such didis should reconsider their plans

For raksha bandhan certain didis once again have specific plans to submit themselves to male domination by participating in the raksha bandhan dogma. Already these below didis are involved in planning and identifying which brother(s) they will tie with rakhis. However their names have not been placed here below as they have ample scope to change their mind and rectify their dealing - i.e. not participate in this raksha bandhan or rakhi ritual.

(1) Avadhutika  …. Acarya
(2) Avadhutika  …. Acarya
(3) Avadhutika  …. Acarya
(4) Avadhutika  …. Acarya
(5) Avadhutika  …. Acarya
(6) Avadhutika  …. Acarya

And there are many more - and we will release their names if those other Didis fail to give up this ritualistic dogma.

Parents even call their daughters as "son"

To further understand the plight of females, some parents even call their daughters "beta" which means "son." They do this because the term for daughter - "beti" - has been so badly stigmatized. The term "beti" (daughter) itself has become lowly. Such is the inherent condition of females in India. Thus to support or participate in the Hindu dogma of raksha bandhan that perpetuates male domination is unacceptable. Rather staunch efforts must be made to empower women.

Mindset of atheist

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Self-awareness develops through clash. The awareness that develops through physical clash is termed jadábuddhi [crude physical intellect] because it is associated with jadá [matter]. The consciousness of animals and undeveloped human beings is matter-oriented. But even in developed human society, if someone is an atheist or a materialist, we can only term their intellect as jadábuddhi. Such people deny the existence of spirituality in order to hide their intellectual deficiencies. Their denial betrays their moral and intellectual bankruptcy. It does not speak of their glory, nor does it diminish the value of spirituality." (1)

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Devotion plays a positive role in the process of clash. Had there been no factor to maintain the balance among all the objects created within the Macrocosmic Mind, the entire structure of the universe would have fallen apart. For the sake of harmony and balance within the universe, there is a mutual attraction among all the objects; each microcosm attracts the other microcosms. All finite microcosms – the innumerable manifestations of the Supreme Entity – are entitled to that universal love with which It has bound each microcosm to Itself, entitled to the wave of that universal love, in which Its divine ocean of bliss is perennially flowing. Attraction is the innate characteristic of microcosms. When this attraction is for finite objects, it is called káma [“physical longing”], and when it surges towards the Cosmic Entity, it is called prema [“divine love”]. Of course, káma is nothing but a limited form of prema. When microcosms rush towards Parama Puruśa [Supreme Consciousness] attracted by the irresistible force of divine love, it is termed “devotion”. Since clash drives the microcosms towards subtlety, it follows that clash must be the sustainer of devotion." (2)

No place for private ownership

Prout philosophy states, “We must not forget, even for a single moment, that the entire animate world is a vast joint family. Nature has not assigned any portion of this property to any particular individual. Private ownership has been created by selfish opportunists, as the loopholes in this system provide them with ample scope for self-aggrandizement through exploitation. When the entire wealth of the universe is the common patrimony of all living beings, can the system in which some roll in luxury, while others, deprived of a morsel of food, shrivel up and starve to death bit by bit, be said to have the support of dharma?" Human mind derailed into lowly dealings

Prout philosophy states, “In capitalism the rich, in their affluence, misuse the psychic urge and direct their psychic pabula to the pursuit of material gains. And the poor, in their extreme poverty, misdirect  their psychic urges and concentrate their psychic pabula on antisocial activities in their struggle for existence. In communism, the elite and party leaders misuse their psychic urges and direct their psychic pabula towards political manipulation and totalitarian repression. Under the oppression of communist rule the psychic pabula of the general people are suppressed into a state of doldrums. In both cases psychic urges are misutilised for sub-human activities in the physical, psycho-physical and psychic spheres. This must be stopped.” (1)

Note: In His above guideline, the Propounder of Prout philosophy is outlining the defects of both capitalism and communism. In capitalism, rich people direct their mental desire towards material wealth by cheating others. That is their misuse of their infinite human longing which should be used for spiritual pursuits.

Due to capitalist exploitation the general public is reduced to beggars and they survive by involving in anti-social activities like drug dealing, gang warfare, white collar crime, underground trade, human  trafficking and so many other nasty things and vices. Initially they start those vices due to lack of the basic minimal requirements to live and gradually those vices consume them. In result, they misuse their infinite human longing which should be used for spiritual pursuits.=

Up till their death

Communist leaders misuse their infinite desire to ruthlessly control and exploit the masses. Those leaders aim to become ministers and dictators where they will remain in the post up till their death. In communism, the leaders never want to give up the post. That is how they misuse their infinite human longing which should be used for spiritual pursuits.

Due to communist exploitation the common people are reduced to rubble. They are harassed, exploited, and suppressed, and have no scope to develop their free thinking or expression.  Everything is manipulated by communist propaganda and in turn human beings become animals. And the common people also misuse their desire infinite human longing for gross material pleasures when that longing should be goaded towards the Supreme.

Due to these defectives systems those at the helm degrade themselves and the common people are exploited terribly. So these two systems should be discarded.

Now I request AMPS leaders to stop eating off of the same plate as those communists as their bosom friend - thinking such communists to be saviour of universe. Unfortunately, some Prout leaders think communism and Prout are the same thing. That is why the Prout movement is not growing. The general public has well understood that communism is awful so if our Prout leader attach Prout with communism then the people will think that Prout is similar to communism. That is the sad plight taking place these days.

Bliss: inherent to being on the path + 3 more

Baba

Bliss: inherent to being on the path

Namaskar,

From time to time the question gets raised, "Who is an Ananda Margii?" And this question is certainly an important one which holds deep significance. Baba has magnificently taken advent and clearly presented the spiritual cult for all to follow. This is His great boon upon us all.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

AM practices: process for immersing in bliss

Within the practical cult of Ananda Marga, Baba has given all the particulars for moving ahead on the path. And by following Baba's selected teachings of dos and don'ts, one is able to move with ever-accelerating speed-- thereby feeling bliss.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "In Ananda Marga this divine flow of Brahma is embedded in different lessons of spiritual meditation. Those who practice this meditation, whether in the present or the future, whether within time or beyond time, will certainly cry, sing and dance with exquisite spiritual joy, and advance steadily towards the blissful Macrocosmic stance. Advancing thus, establishing oneself in yama and niyama, and becoming a true sadvipra, one will attain oneness with the Supreme Entity. Developed human beings will have to move along this Macrocosmic flow of Brahma. One who tries to remain aloof from this divine flow does not deserve to be called a human being. One should bear in mind that the highest fulfillment in life lies in movement in the Cosmic flow. The path along which this movement takes place is called the path of bliss, the path of Ananda Marga." (1)

Following Baba's teachings of yama and niyama and Sixteen Points etc are requirements for advancing on the path. Keeping away from these practices only means inviting one's degeneration. And incorporating those AM practices into the life will enable one to move ahead-- in a speedier and speedier fashion, feeling an ever-increasing amount of bliss.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Margii: one who is immersed in Supreme bliss

To appease that special ákuti (longing) of human beings, Baba has graciously created Ananda Marga - literally meaning, the 'path of bliss'. So Ananda Marga is that blissful movement to the Cosmic Entity, to Supreme blessedness.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The path which leads to supreme bliss is a singular one; there is no second path. The path is one, and only one. If this universe is considered as a circle, its nucleus is the blissful Purusottama to which every point on the circumference is connected. If any microcosm located on any point of the circumference wants to reach the Nucleus, he will have to move with Cosmic ideation, floating on the divine waves of bliss. From no matter what point on the circumference one measures the distance to the Nucleus, that radius will always be the same. This radius is termed the Ananda Marga-- the path of bliss." (2)

This movement on the path of Ananda Marga starts with human life and culminates in eternal bliss. And along the way, along that radius while moving on the path, one is "floating on the divine waves of bliss". So, per Baba's guideline, feeling and receiving bliss is part and parcel of the movement on the path of Ananda Marga. Indeed it is an essential element of that journey. It is just like if one is walking down the street that is lined with fish markets then one will certainly be immersed in the smell of fish. And when walking down a street lined with pubs, then one will certainly be immersed in the smell of alcohol. And when walking down a street with flower shops then one will certainly be immersed in the smell of flowers. Likewise when marching down the path of bliss one will certainly be ensconced in bliss. Those moving on the path of Ananda Marga naturally feel more and more bliss as they progress along the path toward the Supreme One. This 'bliss' is a natural outcome of one's movement on the path of Ananda Marga. Thus each and every true Ananda Margii feels a blissful vibration as they journey forward.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

We should gauge our movement

Ananda means bliss and the degree to which one is feeling that bliss in their life is that degree to which one is an Ananda Margii. Instead those who are ardent followers will zealously ask themselves how far they are really getting bliss. And He has graciously given the perfect formula: By following His teachings one will get bliss. So if one is not feeling any bliss or if one wants to feel more bliss, there is tremendous hope as well as a practical approach. Because as we engage more and more in His devotional-cum-spiritual practices and incorporate these divine ideals into our heart then naturally bliss and nectar pours throughout one's entire being-- until one is fully drenched in that supreme bliss.

Conclusion: “Am I really an Ananda Margii”

By all this we can understand that an Ananda Margii is one who actively feels that bliss which is an inherent quality of traveling the path of Ananda Marga. By this way we should gauge ourselves. Because entering onto the path and plumping oneself down and sitting still is not enough. That stagnant position does not qualify one as an Ananda Margii. Rather one will have to move, and by that movement one will receive bliss - one will be "floating on the divine waves of bliss". This is part and parcel of being an Ananda Margii. So we should gauge ourselves. We should see if we are moving fast or slow. The speed of one's movement is measured by the amount of bliss one feels. In this way we should frankly question ourselves: “Am I really an Ananda Margii? Am I feeling that bliss which Baba says is an inherent aspect of moving on the path.” That is the cornerstone or defining point of one's movement along the path of Ananda Marga. We should all ask ourselves in our heart and truthfully evaluate how far we are Ananda Margiis.

Ananda Marga: path of infinite happiness - bliss

No human being is satisfied by limited happiness gotten by fleeting pleasures. Humans want something more than that. When they are drenched in the thought of Parama Purusa then they are floating in His eternal bliss. This is what Baba describes in the below teaching of Ananda Sutram:

“2-3. Sukhamanantamánandam. [Infinite happiness is ánanda (bliss).]”

“Purport: No living being is content with a little, not to speak of human beings. And so, small happiness fills nobody’s bill. One wants endless happiness. This endless happiness is a condition beyond the precincts of weal and woe, because the sense of happiness that is perceivable with the help of the senses oversteps the limit of the sense organs when established in limitlessness. This limitless happiness is what is known as ánanda [bliss].” (3)

Next Baba guides us that the infinite eternal bliss is Brahma, that eternal Divine Entity:

“2-4. Ánandaḿ Brahma ityáhuh. [This ánanda is called Brahma.]”

“Purport: The limitless object is one, not many. Many-ness can have no quarter in endlessness. That self-same blissful entity is indeed Brahma, which is the composite of Shiva and Shakti.” (4)

Dry mind, devoid of any bliss

Question: Who is an Ananda Margii?

Answer: One who feels the divine bliss that naturally comes from travelling on the path of Ananda Marga, i.e. following His guidelines of sadhana, yama and niyama, kiirtan etc. Those are the tools for feeling His bliss.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

By this way we can easily understand that a simple farmer who sincerely does his sadhana practices etc may be feeling tremendous bliss in his life and qualify as a top-grade Ananda Margii; whereas, someone else may be holding the top post of Purodha Pramukha or GS etc but they may be drowned in their own ego and ignorance, thus having a dry mind devoid of any bliss. In that case we cannot call that post-holder an Ananda Margii.

So it varies from person to person depending on what they feel in their heart. And the best judge of this is oneself.

As some may remember, initially Baba called the path as 'the straight path' or Rju Marga:

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The meaning of the word rju is 'one who moves straight ahead' or 'that which is straightforward'...Rju path means 'straight path', one that does not bend right and left." (5)

So at the outset, those who followed Baba's tenets were the adherents of the straight path or Rju Marga. However, being that omniscient Cosmic Entity, Baba knows that "straightness" alone does not satisfy the infinite longings of the human heart. Human beings want something more - humans want bliss, eternal bliss.

Good people are busy…

"Toma'ri maha'vishva prabhu saba'r tare t'hain rayeche..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1324)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, in Your vast universe, there is a place for everyone. There are sadhus as well as thieves, criminals, and groupists. All have their locus in Your world. You have made spiritual refulgence as well as dark allies. Whatever one likes, one can choose. Every human being has free will. According to their preference they have selected their vocation. Good people are busy in doing sadhana and helping others, while bad groupist people are engrossed in befooling margiis and harming innocent people by their nefarious activities. They employ geo, socio, and religious sentiments to destroy the peace and tranquility of the society. Under Your colourful umbrella, everyone has their space. Religious cheats have created Jamalpur and Tiljala so-called holy lands to deceive margiis and empty their pockets.

O’ Parama Purusa, Baba, in Your flower garden of this universe, there is a rose and also thorns - good and bad remain side by side. There is beautiful fresh water in the spring and rough jagged pebbles at the bottom. There is the happiness of closeness and the aching pain of separation. There is a bright lamp yet beneath it there is complete darkness. Both exist side by side. This is Your creation. You like to play Your lilla with opposing characters.

O’ Parama Purusa, Baba, in Your garden there are beautiful lotus flowers yet under them thick mud. In the dark sky there is a shining moon, but it also has a dark spot. The high mountain peaks are covered with pure, glittering snow but are shrouded by fog also. This is the uniqueness of Your creation: good and bad, sadhus and sinners, bhaktas and crude people, righteous human beings and criminals, land-seller cheats in saffron robes and sadhus. They all live side by side in this expressed universe of Yours. Each has chosen their part. Accordingly, they are rewarded or punished in Your kingdom. In this way srsti flows on endlessly. Those who are fortunate recognise the purpose of Your creation and only long for You. Ultimately they emerge from the endless cycle of birth and death.

I am 100% dependent on Your grace….

Sin: two types

In our Ananda Marga philosophy, sin comes in two forms: (a) doing destructive deeds and (b) not doing our assigned deeds. Here below Baba explains further.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Sin is also of two types. An action of yours that brings harm to others and brings about your own downfall is called pa´pa [sin]. In this kind of karma, harm to others goes hand in hand with your own degradation. Humans become far removed from Parama Purus´a by such actions. I said before that pa´pa is also of two types - pa´taka and pratyava´ya. An action that should not be done but that is nevertheless done, is called pa´taka. And an action that should be done but is not done, is called pratyava´ya. For instance, one should not steal; so if anybody steals, that will be pa´taka. And if one knows full well that nursing a patient is good, but refrains from doing so, that will be pratyava´ya." (1)

By the above we can easily understand that not doing things that ought to be done is also a type of sin known as pratyava'ya. And here below Baba clarifies this crucial matter.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "That which is not done but should be done is called Pratyava'ya." (2)

Baba

Doing pracara with religious followers

Namaskar,

Strictly following the bhagavad dharma of Ananda Marga is ideal because it is based on rationality and universal well-being. But If someone is an adherent of harmful dogmatic teachings from the religions, then surely they are deadly. Here Baba points out the defective mind-set of such persons.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "It is very difficult to persuade religious bigots to follow the path of logic because according to them even to listen to others is a sinful act. This is nothing but mere sentiment. According to some religions beef eating is forbidden but the killing of deer and goats is permissible. This is totally irrational." (1)

In this age of reasoning, most are not convinced or drawn in by religions. Because religions do not follow the path of logic, so the good people just think such dogmatic teachings etc are outdated. For this reason the various religions are shrinking.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

In comparison to a 100 years ago, religion on the whole is a much weaker force than it used to be. In the Middle Ages, millions were killed in the name of religion during the crusades. Today, however, religion is no longer the dominating influence in peoples' lives. Mostly it is just a namesake - i.e. something that people passively follow.

Most do not ardently adhere to the various religious rituals and mandates. People no longer base their lives on what the scriptures say. With the rise of science, people depend more on their logic and reasoning. They are no longer moved or swayed by irrational religious doctrines. Verily, religion is fading away in most parts of the globe.

Lambasting religions creates horrible backlash

If an overtly offensive attack is launched against those religions on the sentimental plane then there will be tremendous backlash. There will be a major uprising as waves of those followers will staunchly line up behind their religion.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Through such religions it is next to impossible to establish unity in the society. Religious differences should be minimized as much as possible, but it should be remembered that blind faith in a religion cannot be forcibly eliminated. To strike at any type of sentiment will only cause that sentiment to grow stronger." (2)

Why do we see - from time to time - profane language used by political leaders? Because of some political gain. This has happened time and again. It has happened in the past and will recur in the future. Intelligent people should always be alert and remain aware of such tactics. Those not in power incite tense situations to get the power and thereby create chaos in the society. This unfortunate maneuver occurs all around the globe. When we see such incidents it means some political gain is at stake. Those not in power want to come in power by escalating the situation and creating differences.

The key point here is that if we allow people to create religious conflicts by such ploys then fissiparous tendencies and divisive forces will rise and society will be torn apart. All remnants of peace will be gone. To lambaste any religion on sentimental grounds will only make matters worse. That is Baba's pointed warning. Religious leaders cannot say "use your brain" because the religions do not adhere to rational teachings.

So if we attack their religious sentiment by insulting them that will only invite a dogmatic resurgence of that religion. Everyone should be careful about this.

Psychological approach needed with religious followers

Here Baba outlines what our approach should be in order to create peace and harmony in the society.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "Psychological methods will have to be employed to make people realize the irrational nature of blind religious faith. This requires a rational interpretation of philosophy through enlightened intellect. When the human mind is gripped by the fear psychology it gives indulgence to blind faith rather than logic and reason. If human fear is removed through logic and reason, the very basis for blind faith will be weakened. That is why human beings will have to be taught philosophical doctrines in a rational way." (3)

We are to generate interest in logic and reasoning within the common people. Gradually those believers will begin to use their brain and that is the most opportune time to teach them. So logic and reasoning are our faithful tools to combat religious dogmas. Resorting to insulting behaviours and / or belittling their faith will not do.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

In His teachings on neo-humanism, Baba guides us to fight against isms and dogmas with our logic and reasoning. And that logic and reasoning can only be successful if one has inherent love for all of humanity. Such persons are sadvipras. They only can wipe away dogmas and isms. Whereas, if politicians try to crush, suppress or push aside the religions they will fail. The communists tried that scheme but they could not smother those religions. Rather such religions flourished underground.

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "It should be remembered that there are certain differences in the society which should be taken into proper consideration. These differences are usually removed through natural fusion. It is not possible to eradicate them by force. When human beings come close to each other with a genuine feeling of unity, when they share the common joys and sorrows of life, those external differences gradually vanish as a matter of course. In the human society there are four main types of external differences: food, dress, language and religion." (4)

That is why Baba encourages inter-caste, inter-race, and international marriages. And indeed we see that in any metropolitan city around the globe where there is a wide representation of diverse ethnic groups living and working together, such as in New York, Sao Paulo, or Berlin, etc such types of heated social problems are much less.

We should rally around similarities not differences. We can also encourage rational philosophical discussions as that will clear up the minds of students.

Religions demands not using the brain

If we allow impulsive and fiery preachers to burn the Koran, Bible, Torah, Giita etc, then that will only ignite the flames of religious outcry and rebellion. That will be counter-productive.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The most detrimental aspect of religion is that people stop using their brain. In any era, country, or place where religion is very dominant, people are forced to blindly follow dogmatic edicts and keep away from rational analysis. In result, they degrade themselves to near animals.

This is not just limited to religious affairs, but in all spheres of life those believers become accustomed to blindly following certain politicians and radio show hosts. A leader declares: "Vote for this candidate", "support this proposition", "buy this product", and the people respond - blindly. So their habit to passively follow and obey - without using their brain or critical intellect - applies to social, political, and economic life as well. Verily that habit of not using their brain in other spheres of life is the byproduct of religion.

Everyone knows that the rational intellect is the unique quality of being human yet the religions mostly force people not to use their intellect - they stifle the entire method of free inquiry and open discussion. If we gradually encourage logic and reasoning - especially with youths - then gradually the hateful religions will be a relic of the past.

The rate at which religion is fading now is staggering; it is on a big downturn. We should raise the slogan of intellectual freedom and rational thinking. Then we can get success because religion does not allow such logic and reasoning. That is why Ananda Marga is working hard to establish educational and neo-humanistic institutions around the globe.

Respectful, philosophical debate, not attack religious sentiment

As margiis we should understand Baba's guideline for discussing the religions. In Ananda Marga, we appreciate healthy debates on philosophical grounds based on religious teaching and preachings.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Read any so-called religious book: one will seldom find anything resembling tolerance of the religious beliefs of others...If necessary, different views can be compared and presented in philosophical books. The philosophical and psychological loopholes in an argument may be pointed out without being disrespectful.” (5)

Hence we can respectfully speak about the loopholes of any of the religions in a very psychological manner. For instance in Christianity we can debate their positions on heaven, hell, and Satan etc, and with Hindus we can raise the point of idol worship etc. We can discuss why these things are right or wrong with regard to all the religions.

But these philosophical discussions should be carried out in a very respectful and dignified manner. There should not be an iota of hatred or disrespect towards any religion.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "Never attack the religious beliefs of anyone. Make the person understand gradually with logic. If you attack a person’s religious beliefs, it means you have attacked Ananda Marga." (6)

We do not support any type of attack on one's religious sentiments. That means no bible burning, no Koran burning, no destroying of idols, no wall writing about the religions using offensive language etc. It is fine to politely discuss the defects of idol worship, but we should not stand from afar and hurl rocks at those Hindu temples.

Debating the principles is very important, but we should not hurt their emotional or sentimental feelings towards their religion. That will only lead to social chaos and rouse the followers behind those religions. Because at that time their rational brain is not functioning, rather their ego and emotions are dominating. That is why the problems will escalate.

Use brain as to how far it is logically meaningful

The question comes: Why should we encourage philosophical debates? Because we believe in the liberation of intellect and free use of logic and reasoning. Before choosing any religion, one should use their brain to determine how far that religion is logically meaningful.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

It is commonly seen in society that when people are buying things in the market they carefully consider how they should spend their money. But when committing their entire heart and emotional feeling to a certain religion then they do not use their brain. They do not question its veracity.

For instance, Hindus believe that if you hold the tail of a cow on the bank of the Ganges in Varanasi and pay a priest 50 rupees to recite the rituals for "godan puja", then you will go to eternal heaven and receive all kinds of luxuries and niceties. Likewise in Catholicism, if a follower confesses their sin and gives money to the priest then their sin is removed and a seat is reserved for them in heaven. And similar tactics are done in Islam and Judaism as well. Followers are led by tales and tall talks.

Such an approach is not good. Everyone should use their brain and logic and see how far it is rational to surrender to those religious beliefs and theories.

In any geographical region where education is prevalent, the grip of religious dogma is melting fast. But where people are not well educated, they are more prone to illogical beliefs, rituals and dogma. So education is very important. It should not be forgotten that even in a so-called first world nation like the US, 14% of the population is illiterate - they cannot read and comprehend the newspaper. We should work hard to raise the intellectual standard of all peoples in all countries - that will help promote an environment of all-round respect and cordiality.

Conclusion

With the rise of science, logic, and reasoning, the influence of religion is far less than it used to be. However, if anyone insults, taunts, and attacks any religion, then those blind religious followers will create an uproar.

As in the case of all key issues, as Ananda Margiis we should be crystal-clear about Baba's teaching. We should know our stand - i.e. the stand of Ananda Marga. If someone threatens to publicly burn the Bible or the Koran, or mocks Hindu idol worship etc, that is bad.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Baba has given us all the teachings to form a harmonious human society. We should pay heed to His guideline of not hurting anyone's religious sentiment nor should we try and forcefully root out any dogma by methods of suppression, repression, or terror. We are all one people - brothers and sisters - united under the loving shelter of one Supreme Entity. Whatever differences we have should be sorted out in a respectful, safe, and diplomatic manner.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "The more human beings live in unity, shoulder to shoulder, the greater the welfare of the human race will be. Let no one try to suppress others on the basis of nationality, language, religion or anything else in any sphere of life. Let the path of full expression of human intelligence be kept open forever." A few people believe their Proutistic samaj to be the holiest - and that their samaj should rule over the others. They claim all this in the name of Prout’s teachings on samaj. However, those who sincerely review the Prout samaj system will clearly recognise when anyone tries to make such claims, then that is groupism - and not part of the samaj system.

Should our Wts act / dance on stage?

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "An a'ca'raya or purodha' cannot actively participate in any acting." (1)

Note: Keeping Baba's above guideline in view, see the standard of certain Wts (acaryas and purodhas) who have acted on stage at various retreats and seminars. Every margii should be aware of the rules so that when something like this occurs they can come forward and help rectify the situation - thereby upholding Baba's teaching and the code of Caryacarya. Some purodhas were violating this rule in the past by singing and dancing rap music etc on stage at the annual overseas retreats etc - hopefully they have since mended their ways.

Tear off the fog of dogma and march on smashing under your feet - Ananda Vanii #70

“In the crimson rays of the early dawn floats the trumpet sound from the distant blue void. The call resounds: Arise, awake and waste no time in sleep. Tear off the fog of dogma and march on smashing under your feet the sky-kissing challenges of the rocky mountains. Remember that victory does not come by itself. Victory has to be invited and welcomed with sweat, the warmth of the blood and the fiery flames of hard labour. The task you have undertaken has to be brought to its consummation. When the mission is noble victory is sure to come. So do not sit inert wasting your valuable time. Be ready to give a fitting response to the clarion call of the cosmos. Be ready from this very moment.”

Note: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis which are fabricated by most of the groups - H, B etc.
