Story: Loneliness

Baba

STORY: LONELINESS

Namaskar,
While sitting down an hour before I was to get washed and dressed for my job, I experienced an overwhelming sadness. I had this realization that I am now all by myself on this earth. My parents are long gone, my wife has recently passed, my children have grown and left; so I have no one around with whom to have communication or contact.

I started to feel very lonely and thought since I have no real friends or family around me and I live by myself, that I will grow old alone. I started to cry. I see many people with a human companion to grow old with, but I will be alone. This melancholia flooded my existence one morning before going to work. I felt desperate.

Then I sang kiirtan and did some sadhana; by Baba's grace the experience was so deep that my feelings of loneliness and melancholia immediately vanished. That morning, by His grace, my meditation was very vibrated. Immediately I felt, 'I am not alone, Baba is with me and He is caring for me'.

Later on at my job, we were getting reports of the previous happenings - the comings and goings from staff working the prior shift. Then and there, by His grace I had a flashback and reviewed in my mind the sacred memory of when I saw Baba and He blessed me. Over and over the idea was floating in my mental plate and it was blissful. I was recalling Him watching me run over to the stage and as I did sastaunga pranam, He looked down at me and then as I got up He asked my name, He smiled at me and said, 'Very good, very good, very good', rocking His head gently back and forth. Then I heard my kiss onto His hand and then by His grace, He turned toward me with His His folded hands blessing.

As I relived those blissful moments during this meeting, I started to cry but checked my tears so my colleagues wouldn't notice. I started to realize that my life is for Him and I don't want to do anything for myself, to enjoy life for me. I do not want to let Him down. I want to be doing everything to please Him; I do not want to make money and enjoy life for myself. I want to give my life to Him. I want to work for Him full-time, not for someone else. He has graciously done so much for me and He is so loving, giving me so much that I must give back to Him and please Him. I am not sure what He has in mind for me, but He must fufill my desire to serve Him 24 hours a day. All these feelings were in my mind and heart.

That auspicious morning occurred ten years ago to this day, by His grace. And I have not had an ounce of melancholia since.

In my earlier life, up until that point, I was always surrounded by people. I would always ensure that I had company and companionship in the form of friends and family.

Since that time of crisis and moment of realisation, by His grace I have come to appreciate being with Him and Him alone. I no longer fear being by myself but see it as a boon for my devotional life. Because it gives me opportunity to focus more on Baba and not get diverted or distracted by anything else.

So now I cherish my loneliness in the mundane sphere as I can channel and divert all my energies towards Him. And when that happens, by His grace, I feel His sweet proximity and compassionate touch.

To be surrounded by people now means to intrude upon my sacred time with Baba.

What a difference: In the past, feeling lonely made me absolutely miserable and I was terrified of the future; now, by His grace, worldly loneliness has become a boon for my spiritual endeavors and relationship with Him.

Since that auspicious occasion ten years ago, my entire outlook has changed.

Now I long to be alone, and generally shun worldly company, so that I may get closer and closer to Him, by His grace. Now I have love and affection for everyone and am not attached to a particular few persons. I feel close to all, by Baba's grace.

SOME REFLECTION

I understand that my story is atypical, and not exactly normal. Some may have difficulty relating with it. But I can clearly see a vast difference in my devotional relationship with Baba from then and now. And it is because of this transformation that I prefer not to have worldly company, not because of any indifference towards others.

I suppose it is similar to many other changes we might experience as margiis. For example, before becoming a margii one might have eaten meat or consumed alcohol, yet now after developing a more sentient way of life one may feel suffocated by the thought of eating meat and drinking wine etc. The margii now only has attraction toward sattvika foods. All because of a change in one's mental make-up.

Similarly, I do not feel inspired to interact much with people - unless it is for reasons of performing service to please Him-- and now strictly prefer the company of Parama Purusa. And the reason is, Baba has made my mind like that. Beyond that, I could never have conceived of living in such a manner.

BABA'S BLESSING

Baba says, "Du'r'a't sudure: if people think that Parama Purus'a is far from them, then He is very, very far. Du'ra means far and sudu'ra means so far that the human mind cannot even imagine it." (SS-11, p. 65)

When people begin to think that Parama Purusa is close by, or near. Baba says, "antike means near". In this case aspirants think that Parama Purusa is only ten feet away and then they realise that He is only one foot away, sitting right next to them. So in this way they  feel that Parama Purusa is nearer than they thought. And in this top category, those blessed devotees feel that Parama Purusa is their closest and most Dear Entity. That He is always living along with them, in the inner recesses of their mind and heart.

Baba says, "Tadiha'ntike ca, iha'ntike means so near, so close" that it cannot be measured. Those devotees feel "that Parama Purusa is hidden in their very 'I' feeling." (SS-11)

"One does not think of anything as being one’s own except Parama Puruśa (Viśńu). This spiritual outlook can also be called “prema”. One who has thus taken Parama Puruśa as his or her own gets everything in Parama Puruśa and has a grip over the entire universe. Everything will eventually come under the control of such a devotee. To think that Parama Puruśa and nothing else is one’s own is therefore the cleverest thing to do. That is why it has been said “mamatá”: everything becomes full by His mamatá. Everyone will feel His closest proximity and receive the same treatment from Him as His nearest ones. He will take everybody on His lap, saying, “Don’t worry. I have come to help you”." (AV-7, The True Nature of Bhakti)

Namaskar,
In Him,
Rameshvar

LINE MEANING OF PS #1158

Baba, please come in endless songs [1], pulverizing the ego of my mind. Please merge in my heart and remove the boundary of my smallness [2]. [3]

Baba, whatever one has in their mind, whatever they may be thinking or secretly doing, [4] You know everyone equally [5]. You move ahead keeping everyone in Your mind. O' Lord, You move on keeping everyone in Your mind.

Baba, there is nothing beyond You. In joy and sorrow, You are everyone's shelter. You think about everyone equally. Baba, You go on looking after all. O' my Lord, You go on looking after all.

Baba, You are my Saviour, I surrender at Your lotus feet. Please shower Your causeless grace...

END NOTES FOR PS #1158

[1] Please Come in Songs: Through the chanting of songs You come; when I sing I feel Your proximity and You, in your role of Darpa Harii, pulverize my ego.

Baba says, "Parama Puruśa is called Darpahárii, which means “Pride-snatcher”. One thing He will not tolerate is ego. He is uni-purposive and multilateral: He is doing everything at once. He is running the whole universe, so He is multilateral. But He is uni-purposive because He has only one purpose: to bring all His creatures back to Him, to merge in Him again." (Ananda Vacanamrtam-31, Surrender at the Altar of the Supreme)

[2] Smallness: Here, smallness refers to the feeling of the jiiva or unit self: "I am a human being; I am alone; I have so many limitations; I have this or that." All these are feelings of the unit "I".  And the request of that unit being is: "Make little "I" one with the Supreme "I".

Note: When reciting the mantra with each and every respiration in sadhana, the unit merges into cosmic. That is the idea expressed here. In result, the unit becomes cosmic; the microcosm becomes macrocosm. With the help of the mantra, the waves of the unit "I" become one with the Cosmic "I". (For more about this read the chapter, Mantra Caetanya.)

[3] Meaning of First Stanza: When I sing the song, O Lord, please come in my close proximity and remove my ego so I can surrender at Your lotus feet. In my sadhana, please merge Your Divine Self in my heart, and make my unit I-feeling one with the Cosmic-"I". O' Lord, please remove my smallness and make me one with You.

[4] Parama Purusa Knows Everything: O' Parama Purusa, You know everything about everyone. There is nothing outside of You. Whatever a person is thinking or longing for, You are fully aware. In this vast cosmos, it is impossible to keep a secret from You. All knowledge resides within You. You witness every movement and thought. You are aware about one and all, always. The entire creation is Your thought projection. That is why everything is known to You. Nothing is less or more; You know everything completely, i.e. all the ins and outs.

[5] You Know Everyone Equally: Baba, You know everything about everybody. It is not that about some You know more, and about others You know less. It is not that some people You treat in a special way and others in a distant way. All are Your progeny and part of Your creation.

Baba says, "A microcosm, a unit being, may think, “I am an insignificant person, I am not educated, I have neither intellect nor erudition nor wealth. Does Parama Puruśa think of me also? – Me, a very small insignificant microcosm?” They should remember that Parama Puruśa not only does think of them, He is bound to think of them by force of circumstances. Parama Puruśa cannot think, “These are just very ordinary human beings merely managing to make both ends meet – I can’t think of them!” He cannot think like this, because by providential decree the Macrocosm is bound to think of His created objects – He cannot forget them."

"And does He think only of a human being, or only of a white ant? No, He thinks of all."

Sama pluśińá sáma mashakena
Sama nágena sama ebhistribhih lakaeh.

"He looks upon a tiny white ant with as much love and affection as on a mosquito. Nor does He think of a large mammoth more than other entities, for a mammoth has a mind just as an ant has. So He thinks equally of all: He thinks of a white ant or a mosquito with the same seriousness as of a mammoth or an elephant, and He attaches same importance to each individual creature as to all the three worlds. So you understand that you are not at all insignificant: your existential value is very great." (Subhasita Samgraha-18, Macropsychic Conation and Micropsychic Longings)

Note: Here it should be understood that devotees feel His close proximity whereas others do not. That is why non-devotees blame Parama Purusa for not caring about them. But their accusation is baseless as He witnesses everything, everyone.

Articles on Dangers of Sports

Baba

Namaskar,

Here are articles that detail the dangers of playing highly-competitive sports...

#1: Junior Seau: Apparent suicide follows deaths of athletes with brain trauma

May 02, 2012|By Amina Khan, Los Angeles Times

Former NFL star Junior Seau’s death by apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound follows a pattern of suicides by other high-profile football players who suffered from long-term effects of repeated brain injury.

That list of players includes Andre Waters of the Philadelphia Eagles and Terry Long of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And just last year, former Chicago Bears player Dave Duerson shot himself in the chest, but not before requesting that his brain be donated to science so that researchers could study the long-term effects caused by concussion and other repeated brain injuries. Seau also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, rather than the head.

The former Pro Bowler, who was 43, was found by his girlfriend at his home Wednesday.

For Seau, there may have been recent warning signs that all was not well, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. In October 2010, Seau’s car plunged 30 feet off a coastal road in Carlsbad. He reportedly told police that he had fallen asleep while driving. The accident occurred hours after he was released from jail after being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. His 25-year-old girlfriend did not require medical treatment, and Seau was never charged in the incident.

The news comes after years of growing awareness of repeated brain trauma’s long-term effect on memory, cognitive function and even depression. “We’re all thinking about this injury differently now,” said Dr. Vernon Williams, medical director of the Kerlan-Jobe Center for Sports Neurology in Los Angeles. “This is science in evolution.”

Part of the problem with the long-term brain changes that can develop in football, boxing and other high-impact sports is that the damage is often not apparent for years, even decades, after a player’s prime, Williams said.

Though the overwhelming majority of concussion-related symptoms tend to dissipate, Williams said, symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy – also known as boxer’s dementia, according to the Mayo Clinic – may emerge over time. Certain people may even be more predisposed to the condition, he said.

One of the first reported changes of such long-term damage lies in behavior, Williams said. Patients may display erratic behavior, become more emotionally irritable, even more violent.

That phase is followed by changes in cognition, memory and what’s known as executive function, the brain’s ability to problem-solve, plan, multi-task and perform other high-level tasks.

Patients with musculoskeletal injuries can also suffer from chronic pain and other issues. In some cases, the neurological damage can become physically debilitating. Muhammad Ali, the famed boxer who later developed Parkinson’s disease, is one such example.

#2: Dead athletes' brains show damage from concussions

By Stephanie Smith
CNN Medical Producer

For years after his NFL career ended, Ted Johnson could barely muster the energy to leave his house.

"I'd [leave to] go see my kids for maybe 15 minutes," said Johnson. "Then I would go back home and close the curtains, turn the lights off and I'd stay in bed. That was my routine for two years.

"Those were bad days."

These days, the former linebacker is less likely to recount the hundreds of tackles, scores of quarterback sacks or the three Super Bowl rings he earned as a linebacker for the New England Patriots. He is more likely to talk about suffering more than 100 concussions.

"I can definitely point to 2002 when I got back-to-back concussions. That's where the problems started," said Johnson, who retired after those two concussions. "The depression, the sleep disorders and the mental fatigue."

Until recently, the best medical definition for concussion was a jarring blow to the head that temporarily stunned the senses, occasionally leading to unconsciousness. It has been considered an invisible injury, impossible to test -- no MRI, no CT scan can detect it.

But today, using tissue from retired NFL athletes culled posthumously, the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (CSTE), at the Boston University School of Medicine, is shedding light on what concussions look like in the brain. The findings are stunning. Far from innocuous, invisible injuries, concussions confer tremendous brain damage. That damage has a name: chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

On Tuesday afternoon, researchers at the CSTE released a study about the sixth documented case of CTE in former NFL player Tom McHale, who died in 2008 at the age of 45, and the youngest case to date, an 18-year-old multi-sport athlete who suffered multiple concussions.

While CTE in an ex-NFL player's brain may have been expected, the beginnings of brain damage in an 18-year-old brain was a "shocking" finding, according to Dr. Ann McKee, a neuropathologist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts, and co-director of the CSTE.

"We think this is how chronic traumatic encephalopathy starts," said McKee. "This is speculation, but I think we can assume that this would have continued to expand."

CTE has thus far been found in the brains of six out of six former NFL players.

"What's been surprising is that it's so extensive," said McKee. "It's throughout the brain, not just on the superficial aspects of the brain, but it's deep inside."

CSTE studies reveal brown tangles flecked throughout the brain tissue of former NFL players who died young -- some as early as their 30s or 40s.

McKee, who also studies Alzheimer's disease, says the tangles closely resemble what might be found in the brain of an 80-year-old with dementia.

"I knew what traumatic brain disease looked like in the very end stages, in the most severe cases," said McKee. "To see the kind of changes we're seeing in 45-year-olds is basically unheard of."

The damage affects the parts of the brain that control emotion, rage, hypersexuality, even breathing, and recent studies find that CTE is a progressive disease that eventually kills brain cells.

Chris Nowinski knows well the impact of concussions. He was a football star at Harvard before wrestling professionally with World Wrestling Entertainment.

In one moment, his dreams of a long career wrestling were dashed by a kick to his chin. That kick, which caused Nowinski to black out and effectively ended his career, capped a career riddled with concussions.

"My world changed," said Nowinski. "I had depression. I had memory problems. My head hurt for five years."

Nowinski began searching for studies, and what he found startled him.

"I realized when I was visiting a lot of doctors, they weren't giving me very good answers about what was wrong with my head," said Nowinski. "I read [every study I could find] and I realized there was a ton of evidence showing concussions lead to depression, and multiple concussion can lead to Alzheimer's."

Nowinski decided further study was needed, so he founded the Sports Legacy Institute along with Dr. Robert Cantu, a neurosurgeon and the co-director of the CSTE. The project solicits for study the brains of ex-athletes who suffered multiple concussions.

Once a family agrees to donate the brain, it is delivered to scientists at the CSTE to look for signs of damage.

So far, the evidence of CTE is compelling.

The Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, along with other research institutions, has now identified traumatic encephalopathy in the brains of late NFL football players John Grimsley, Mike Webster, Andre Waters, Justin Strzelczyk and Terry Long, in addition to McHale.

Grimsley died of an accidental gunshot wound to the chest. Webster, Long and Strzelczyk all died after long bouts of depression, while Waters committed suicide in 2006 at age 44. McHale was found dead last year of an apparent drug overdose.

"Guys were dying," said Nowinski. "The fact of the matter was guys were dying because they played sports 10 or 20 years before."

So far, around 100 athletes have consented to have their brains studied after they die.

Ted Johnson was one of the first to sign up. He said he believes that concussions he suffered while playing football explain the anger, depression and throbbing headaches that occasionally still plague him.

Johnson said he played through concussions because he, like many other NFL athletes, did not understand the consequences. He has publicly criticized the NFL for not protecting players like him.

"They don't want you to know," said Johnson. "It's not like when you get into the NFL there's a handout that says 'These are the effects of multiple concussions so beware.' "

In a statement, the NFL indicated that their staffs take a cautious, conservative approach to managing concussions.

While they support research into the impact of concussions, they maintain that, "Hundreds of thousands of people have played football and other sports without experiencing any problem of this type and there continues to be considerable debate within the medical community on the precise long-term effects of concussions and how they relate to other risk factors."

The NFL is planning its own independent medical study of retired NFL players on the long-term effects of concussion.

"Really my main reason even for talking about this is to help the guys who are already retired," said Johnson. "[They] are getting divorced, going bankrupt, can't work, are depressed, and don't know what's wrong with them. [It is] to give them a name for it so they can go get help."

"The idea that you can whack your head hundreds of times in your life and knock yourself out and get up and be fine is gone," said Nowinski.

Zoo mystery: How did apes and birds know quake was coming?

Baba

Namaskar,
The below article is related with this posting, "Animals Know Many Things".

Zoo mystery: How did apes and birds know quake was coming?

By Joel Achenbach,August 24, 2011
(courtesy of the Washington Post)
Her name is Iris, and with her straight, elegant, red-orange hair she is beyond dispute the prettiest orangutan at the National Zoo. She’s calm, quiet, unflappable. “Iris lives the life of a queen,” says great-ape keeper Amanda Bania.

On Tuesday afternoon, the queen lost her cool.

It happened a little before 2 p.m. Primate keeper K.C. Braesch was standing just a few feet away when Iris emitted a loud, guttural cry, known to scientists as belch-vocalizing. Iris then scrambled to the top of her enclosure.

Braesch stepped back and scanned the enclosure to see what might have agitated the ape. Was it Kiko, the male? Although generally a lump, Kiko can turn into a hothead and throw things. But no, Kiko was lounging.
Then — all this had happened within about five seconds — Braesch felt the earthquake.

“Animals seem to know,” she said Wednesday. “You always hear it anecdotally, but this is the first time I’ve seen it.”

How Ant Analogy Works

Baba

This entire email is composed of 3 parts:
(1) Posting: How Ant Analogy Works
(2) End Quote: Unknown History

HOW ANT ANALOGY WORKS

Namaskar,
In one of Parama Purusa's well-known and famous teachings, He states that if even an ant dies prematurely then the entire universe will become imbalanced.

There are some who wonder how can this be true. After all, countless ants in countries around the globe are getting killed each and every day. Then how does this theorem work? How can it be that the premature death of a single ant ruins the equilibrium of the entire cosmos? Wouldn't the universe be in a constant state of disarray - or be destroyed entirely? That is the question that some raise.

The solution to this conundrum is contained in a few key steps.

NOBODY HAS THE CAPACITY TO GO AGAINST COSMIC LAW

EVERYTHING DONE BY HIS APPROVAL - NO ONE DIES PREMATURELY

1. Nobody has the capacity to go against Cosmic law; it is impossible. All must obey the order of the Supreme. Nobody has the strength to do anything without His approval. Hence, it is not possible to kill an ant prematurely. Every ant that dies occurs by His approval - i.e. at the right time according to Cosmic law.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The Operative Principle, although it has the potentiality to do something or to do anything and everything, cannot do anything without His approval, because He is the hub and all waves emanate from Him. His approval is a must in this respect. That is, if He does not like, not even a blade of grass can move. Each and every intelligent man and each and every spiritual aspirant should remember this fact." (1)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Whatever Parama Puruśa does, He does for the good of humanity. Not a single blade of grass can move without His desire." (2)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "From a mammoth to a blade of grass. So a mammoth cannot move without His grace, and a blade of grass also cannot move without His approval. And this shows that He maintains a link with each and every entity." (3)

This point alone is enough to solve the problem. Every action in this universe is calculated and witnessed by the Supreme. No one can act beyond His scope. All reside under His care. Thus no being, not even an ant, dies a premature death.

What follows then is further logic and reasoning to better understand Parama Purusa's guideline.

GRAVITY IS A UNIVERSAL CONSTANT

WITHOUT IT CREATION WOULD BE DESTROYED

2. The universal law of gravity is a constant. Gravity is always on. There is not a moment that passes by where gravity is not working. But, if such a time were to happen, if for a moment gravity would cease to function, the entire universe would become completely imbalanced. People would float up off of this planet into outer space and the entire planetary and solar systems would be in upheaval if all gravitational forces were removed from the universe.

The entire cosmos would be thrust into chaos because every other system is dependent upon gravity. There would be a huge domino effect. If gravity were to stop functioning, everything would be in a sheer state of disarray - everything would be destroyed in one second. But such an event never arises because gravity is a constant force. It is always in operation. Thus, nobody can defy the law of gravity; it is impossible. Hence, order is always maintained.

COSMIC LAW IS A UNIVERSAL CONSTANT

WITHOUT IT CREATION WOULD BE DESTROYED

3. Similarly, throughout this universe, the Divine will or Cosmic law is a constant force. It is never off. Everything is dependent upon it, just as everything on this earth is dependent upon the force of gravity. If for an instant, the Cosmic law would shut down, then the entire manifested universe would be finished. Because the existence and energy of each and every entity is wholly dependent on the Divine force, i.e. the will of Parama Purusa. If He does not give His approval then nothing can happen - nobody can do anything, nothing can exist. Thus everything is fully dependent upon the functioning of Cosmic law. And indeed Cosmic law is always operating - monitoring everything. By this way, the cosmological order is beautifully maintained such that not even a single ant dies prematurely.

PARAMA PURUSA WATCHES OVER EVERYTHING

NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING WITHOUT HIS CONSENT

4. Here the central idea is that Parama Purusa watches over this entire universe always. His eyes are everywhere, in all directions, each and every moment. He ensures that nothing goes unnoticed and no one is uncared for. No one can do anything without His consent.

IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL AN ANT PREMATURELY

5. So when Parama Purusa states that if an ant dies prematurely then the universe will be imbalanced, He is not opening the door or possibility that an ant can be prematurely killed. Rather He is telling that He watches over everything - nothing happens without His approval, and no created being has the ability to overpower Cosmic law. It is impossible to prematurely kill an ant just as it is impossible to put the universe in a state of imbalance.

6. This then is the explanation for no ant ever dies a premature death and how the balance of the universe is never lost.

SUMMARY

WITHOUT HIS APPROVAL, NOTHING CAN HAPPEN

Again, if He does not give His approval then nothing can happen – nobody can do anything. Thus everything is fully dependent upon the functioning of Cosmic law. And indeed Cosmic law is always operating – monitoring everything. By this way, the cosmological order is beautifully maintained such that not even a single ant dies prematurely.

An ant can only die prematurely if Cosmic will becomes dysfunctional; but if Cosmic will becomes dysfunctional then the whole universe will collapse. Thus, an ant will never die prematurely because that would mean the destruction of the entire universe.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Trilocan

Note 1: IF THIS MATTER IS STILL UNCLEAR FOR YOU

THINK IN THIS WAY

Think in this way. You yourself have only come on this earth because of Cosmic will. Parama Purusa thought and you came into existence. You did not bring yourself here. And no matter how much you desire to stay here forever, you cannot. You are bound. Everything is under His control. That is also Cosmic will.

In this creation, everything big or small has the same existential value. To human beings, a particular entity like an ant may seem small and puny, but for Parama Purusa that ant is also His creation.

It is just like how onlookers may look towards a particular family and conclude that the infant is negligible or meaningless - as it does not do anything. But for the mother that is not the case - for her, the baby is very meaningful. Similarly, for Parama Purusa, each and every entity, even a tiny ant, has its special value.

The central idea is that everything happens according to Cosmic will. Just as your coming and going is controlled by the Supreme, similarly an ant comes and goes according to His will. Without His approval nothing happens - no one dies prematurely. If so, then the universe will be  destroyed; but still the universe is in tact because up till now not even an ant has not been killed prematurely. Accordingly, no other being will ever die prematurely either.

An ant can only die prematurely if Cosmic will becomes dysfunctional; but if Cosmic will becomes dysfunctional then the whole universe will collapse. Thus, an ant will never die prematurely because that would mean the destruction of the entire universe.

Note 2: THE GREAT EFFECT OF GRAVITY

IT IS FUNDAMENTAL TO THIS UNIVERSE

"From a cosmological perspective, gravitation causes dispersed matter to coalesce, and coalesced matter to remain intact, thus accounting for the existence of planets, stars, galaxies and most of the macroscopic objects in the universe. It is responsible for keeping the Earth and the other planets in their orbits around the Sun; for keeping the Moon in its orbit around the Earth; for the formation of tides; for natural convection, by which fluid flow occurs under the influence of a density gradient and gravity; for heating the interiors of forming stars and planets to very high temperatures; and for various other phenomena observed on Earth and throughout the universe." Unknown History

Parama Purusa Baba says, "In Puranic Hindu yuga in India when Buddhism and Shaeva religions got mixed, then one blended religion got formed and it got called as Nath dharma. It is most prevalent in entire eastern part of India. They named it the Nath religion because at the end of their Guru's name the 'Nath' title is there, i.e. Adinath Miin, Matsyendranath, Goraksanath, Rohininath, Chaorangiinath, etc." (AV-11, p.19)

Note: Even monks of the Nath religion and their followers do not know that the origin of Nath dharma was Buddhism and that those Buddhists accepted the Shiva cult. Means, after the eradication of Buddhism from India, followers of Lord Buddha accepted Shaeava religion. They continued some of those Buddhist dogmatic rituals. The result being that one type blending happened. Now followers of the Nath religions only know this much: That they are followers of Shiva. They are completely unaware about their past link with Buddhism. In eastern India there are hundreds of Nath temples. Even then, neither believers of the Hindu religious sect of Nath nor followers of Buddhism know this fact about their history.

Note: The below information is related with the posting, Don't Know Where to Die.

This year Black Friday (Nov 29, 2013) was tragically marred by several incidents:
(a) A police officer was injured trying to break up a fight between shoppers who were brawling in the parking lot. The fight was about who was ahead in line (California).

(b) In Chicago, police shot a man believed to be involved in a shoplifting incident after authorities found him driving a car that was dragging another officer.

(c) One man stabbed another with a knife during an argument over a parking space Thursday night at Walmart (West Virginia).

(d) A shopper was pepper-sprayed by the police and arrested Thursday evening (New Jersey). A heated dispute with a fellow shopper over a television led to an argument with a Walmart manager. After the manager called for help, the shopper attacked an officer.

Then there was the usual huge crowds, pushing, shoving, and all-night shopping etc.

In years past, one shoplifter was beaten to death, shoppers engaged in a heinous pepper-spraying incident & shootings, store employees were crushed to death by stampeding customers, and other violent acts - all done in the quest for discounted shopping.

To learn more about this an gain a graphic understanding, please read below...

Black Friday Violence Erupts Across Country
By Sean Piccoli and Post Wires
November 29, 2013 | 6:43am

Welcome to Brawl-Mart.

Mayhem erupted at big-box stores across the USA as frenzied shoppers vying for holiday deals turned on each other and resorted to violence to get their goods.

Reports of retail assaults, shootings and arrests piled up so fast that by Thursday night, Black Friday already had a trending Twitter hashtag: #WalmartFights.

Adding to the insanity, a Wal-Mart in White Plains was hit with a phony bomb threat on Friday afternoon. Two anonymous bomb-scare calls to the store on Main Street at about 12:30 p.m. prompted a full evacuation, and police used bomb-sniffing dogs to sweep the property, said White Plains Police Chief James Bradley. Shoppers and employees were allowed back inside at 2:10 p.m., said Bradley.

And it wasn’t just Wal-Mart going nuts. A cop at a Kohl’s store outside of Chicago shot a would-be shoplifter who fled in his car — and dragged another officer who was halfway into the vehicle across the parking lot, said police in Romeoville, Illinois. The Thursday night incident led to three arrests and a trip to the hospital for the shot driver and the dragged officer – both of whom, incredibly, sustained only minor injuries....

#2: Re: More About Kapalika

Baba
Respected Readers,

Namaskar. This email contains 3 distinct sections for your review and consideration.

1. Prabhat Samgiita #1616
2. Re: More About Kapalika by Sukulji
3. Re: More About Kapalika by Kuttiji
A link to the initial letter on this topic is appended below.
at His lotus feet,
Ananda Marga Universal Moderators

===

PS Intro: This below song is deeply devotional and can only be understood by those who have been blessed with the gift of devotion. Without that this song cannot be understood.

"Ei hrdayer ma'la'kha'ni toma'r tare genthe ra'kha'..." (PS 1616)

Purport:

O' the Divine Entity, I love You so much. With all the tenderness and sweetness of my heart I have threaded this garland especially for You. By Your grace, I am offering [1] it at Your lotus feet, O' my Dearmost.

O" Parama Purusa, my only desire is to please You. So if You do not like this garland which I have prepared for You, then please do not accept it. And if You are not satisfied with this garland, then I request You not to look towards it. My sole desire is that You should be pleased. Baba, this mala (garland) is saturated with my heartfelt longing for You and is soaked with the showering of my tears of devotion. It is drenched with my love.

Baba, O' the Supreme One, I am meagre; I am just a small unit being. Yet I carry the great and distant hope of getting You. Because I am meagre and You are vast, my hope of getting You is nothing but an unrealistic plan and a far off dream. It is just a fantasy. Baba, if You do not want me, then why have You pulled me so close to You with Your loving bond.

Baba, please grace me by accepting my garland. Here I am offering it at Your lotus feet...

NOTE FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #1616:

[1] Arghya': Here are some of the specifics about the term arghya', or offering.

Baba says, "When any non-edible item is offered to gods and goddesses or great personalities then that is called arghya'. Those offered partially or completely full [non-edible] items which are returned back ]to the unit being] from those gods and goddesses or great personalities are called nirmalya. If any edible item is offered to gods or goddesses or great personalities then that is called naevedya. And that very naevedya when it is partially or fully returned from those gods and goddesses or great personalities then that is called prasad." (Laghu Nirukta, p.9)

Thus when devotees offer delicacies and sweets to Parama Purusa that is called naevadya and when those sweets are partially or fully returned back to devotees with His special blessing then that is called prasad. So when devotees bring sweets etc to our AM kiirtan programs and place them under the puja table then those sweets are not prasad, they are naevadya. Only when the kiirtan program is over do they become prasad according to Baba's above guideline. So at our Ananda Marga functions it should become our regular practice use the proper vocabulary.

Secondly, those things offered in Guru Puja are known as arghya. That is why Guru Puja is called: varn (mental colour) + arghya (arrangements being offered) + dan (act of offering), varnarghyadan.

Re: More About Kapalika

Namaskar.

Thanks a lot for providing necessary information through this article regarding my quest.

I also thank with deep respect to Nityanandaji who clarified and enhanced my knowledge in this subject matter.

Actually, I knew most of the facts depicted in this article along with this that

"Ka palayati yashya sa kapalika क पालयति यश्य  स  कापालिकः "

and regarding Avadhutas I learnt from Rev. Baba's discourse that

"श्मशाने व गृहे हिरण्ये व तृणे
तनुजे व रिपो स्वकीये व परे
समत्व् योगे विराजे अवधूतो
द्वितीयो महेशः।"

Hence I was under the impression that taking regular rigorous training in training center these respected persons are coming out becoming perfect as per definition above but by below given paras of the above article I could understand that their training is not complete but the degree is given in advance so that they try hard in order to maintain sanctity of it.

And also that every avadhuta is a kapalika but it is not necessary that every kapalika be an avadhuta. Now, I could also understand why  some of these honorable persons leave after serving a few years when confronted with the ashtapashas and sadaripus.

Thanks once again.

Respectfully,
Dr. T. R. Sukul

Religious Dogma: Huge Waste of Food While Others Starve

Baba

RELIGIOUS DOGMA:

HUGE WASTE OF FOOD WHILE OTHERS STARVE

Namaskar,
We all know that religious dogma is a major theme throughout Baba's divine teachings. Over the course of human history religious rituals, exploitation, and superstition have led to so much humiliation, misunderstanding, and suffering. And still in this ultra-modern era, large sections of humanity remain under the cloak of religious ignorance and dogma.

RECENT EVENT IN GUJURAT:

THE ENORMOUS POURING OF GHEE

Recently in Gujurat, in mid October, a yajina was held where 1.1 million pounds (or 5.5 lakhs kg) of ghee was poured over an idol whereby worshipers hoped to gain virtue etc. To gain a better grasp of the sheer amount of ghee used, it would take 50-55 large US tractor-trailer trucks to transport 1.1 million pounds. That is the amount that individual worshipers dumped on the idol - there was a constant flow of people making their offerings. The cost of all that ghee was 160 million rupees.

Here is more about the scene - plus you may read the attached newspaper articles for more details.

SPECIAL REPORT AND POEM BY SUKULJI:

THE DOGMATIC GHEE OFFERING IN GUJURAT

(Note: This entire topic was raised by Respected Sukulji who submitted the attached newspaper clipping and wrote this particular section of this email including the poem.)

Newspapers highlight with photos that people of Gujrat in India collected 5.5 lakhs Kg of Pure Desi Ghee and did so-called Abhishek of the idol of deity Durga during Shardeya Navratra. The title was "Ghee Ki Nadiyan Bahin". The photo of the scene was also displaying so many people going through the street full of Ghee touching up to knees.

The news belongs to Gandhi Nagar Gujrat (India) and is published in almost all the national level news papers of India on 15th October 2013.

I am attaching the scanned cuttings of the Dainik Bhaskar of this date which depicts the photo of the function and the Ghee flowing in streets.

You can also find this in Dainik Bhaskar e-paper of Jaipur (Raj) publication, of 15/10/2013.

Purport of Above Hindi Poem:

Actions of blind believers sometimes flow the rivers of ghee and sometimes pour it into fire, and construct temple destroying mosque. This results in death of lacs of people for want of nutrition and starvation everyday. This seems as if this blindness of believers is making loud laughter sitting on the throne of dead bodies of these dying people of starvation and nutrition.

Illusion of blind believers is doing 'Tandava' in forms of natural calamities, rumors and exploitation of women, yet people are running towards you mindlessly expecting that you would take care of them.

Here is more of the news...

[5.5 lac Kilogram pure ghee costing about sixteen crore rupees has been poured in streets due to blind believes and superstitions during 'Shardeya Navratra'. In a country where several lac  people fall prey to starvation and malnutrition everyday, to what extant this act is right?]

(Note: For more about this incident please see the attached news article or click on the link at the bottom of this email to see all new articles on this topicl. This concludes the section of the letter authored by Dr. T.R. Sukulji)

WHY THEY OFFER GHEE:

THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND THE DOGMA

Here Baba points out how dogmatic-minded worshipers think that their favoured deities have the same liking as they (the worshipers) do.

"Human nature is such that one thinks that what is dear to oneself must be dear to everybody. So the ghee-, meat- and wine-loving Aryans thought that such food items would be liked by the gods also." (AFPS-1, Tantra and Indo-Aryan Civilization)

Thus those offering ghee to the idol in Gujurat suffer from the same defective mentality as those degenerated Aryans of hundreds and thousands of years ago.

OFFER GHEE IN YAJINA IS A WASTE OF RESOURCES:

BETTER IS TO FEED THE HUNGRY, STARVING PEOPLE

Here below Baba points out that the dogmatic offering of ghee to an idol is a sheer and utter waste food and natural resources. The proper approach is to serve that ghee to the mal-nourished peoples of the earth so they can regain their health.

"Those who offer clarified butter in Yajiṋa are misguided. They think that by offering ghee in the fire, it will rain. Still today people are following such blind superstition. Science tells us that when ghee is offered in the fire, the ghee is burnt and the unburnt carbon particles evaporate in the form of smoke. Everyone knows that ghee is basically the chemical composition of hydrogen and carbon and that the water vapor generated by burning ghee is negligible. Therefore, what will be the magnitude of the cloud formed by burning even one thousand tons of ghee? It is an utter misuse of ghee. The proper use of ghee is to feed it to the weak so that they may have a good health." (Subhasita Samgraha - 1, Yajiṋa and Karmaphala)

Thus, those worshipers in Gujurat are terribly misguided and on the wrong path. That ghee should be used to serve those in need. Hundreds of millions of Indian citizens lack proper nutrition and suffer from moderate to severe food shortages while these dogmatic worshipers waste huge amounts of ghee by pouring it on this idol.

STRIVE TO ATTAIN PARAMA PURUSA

AND NOT FALL PRONE TO HARMFUL, RITUALISTIC DOGMAS

Here Baba points out that the ritualistic offering of ghee is a direct contravention of bhagavata dharma.  A dharmic yajina means the attainment of Parama Purusa, not the slip into ritualistic dogma.

"Shaeva Dharma is the dharma for attaining Parama Puruśa, and thus there is no external ritual in it. It does not enjoin any ritualistic offering of ghee, or any sacrifice of animals’ blood in yajiṋa; it is not a path of self-gratification. The followers of Shaeva Dharma proclaimed in a thundering voice that dharma is the path leading to supreme attainment – not the path of animal enjoyment." (NSS, Shiva – Both Severe and Tender (Discourse 2))

WHAT IS THE REAL INNER SPIRIT OF YAJINA:

THE DHARMIC MEANING

"The completion of a Yajiṋa lies in its offerings. Karma and Yajiṋa are the same and the accomplishment of the four varieties of Karma lies in offering one’s dearest thing, that is, in offering one’s own self. Ráma Yajiṋa signifies offering or surrendering unto Ráma. Viśnu Yajiṋa has a similar significance. The word Vishnu means all-pervasive. For this reason the accomplishment of Viśnu Yajiṋa lies in merging oneself into the Supreme Entity." (Subhasita Samgraha - 1, Yajiṋa and Karmaphala)

"Tapah: To undergo physical hardship to attain the objective is known as Tapah. Upavása (fasting), serving the guru (preceptor), serving father and mother, and the four types of yajiṋa, namely, pitr yajiṋa, nr yajiṋa, bhúta yajiṋa and adhyátma yajiṋa (service to ancestors, to humanity, to lower beings and to Consciousness), are the other limbs of tapah. For students, study is the main tapah." (Caryacarya, part 2)

BABA'S SPECIAL TEACHING FROM ANANDA VACANAMRTAM:

LORD BUDDHA FOUGHT AGAINST THE DOGMATIC POURING OF GHEE

Buddha aor Astaunga Ma’rga, MGD 16 October 1979 Nagpur)

(Here below is a rough translation of the above Hindi discourse.)

There are many whose conduct is not good, are of poor intellect, and harbour negative thoughts but even then have a strong desire to receive great prestige. Lord Buddha fought against such persons. They do not put any effort into to marching along the path of self-purification or sacrificing for the goal. They never try to truly develop themselves.  They just indulge in ritualistic yajinas of pouring ghee into the sacrificial fire. Is it reasonable to misuse and waste ghee by pouring it into the fire in a country where thousands of people are devoid of nutritious food?

Margiis: "No Baba! Never."

They burn ghee, rice, sugar and what not?... If you have a lot of ghee and rice, distribute it to the poor or you eat it yourself. (Some people are miserly) so, if you are a miser then eat it yourself.

Margiis: Laughter.

Yes, the fire is also burning in the stomach, Isn't it? Burn them in this fire.

Margiis: Laughter.

What you say, isn't it?

This, they will not do. The misers will also not do like this. But they will perform Yajina; How?...  Pouring all the rotten ghee of house in the fire of Yajina altar.

Margiis: Laughter...

Yes, this is hypocrisy. Lord Buddha opposed it. It requires much courage to oppose the social customs. He had that courage.

You analyse this tactfully, that if, you declare a particular river to be holy leaving other rivers in oblivion, would it be reasonable? All wastes and dirtiness of municipality are dumped into the Ganges. So can the water of the Ganges remain pure? What type of logic is this? But, you don't oppose this courageously because many people will go against you. You realise but you are unable to speak because you have no courage. Lord Buddha had that courage.

*Note: A Hindu ritual in which many nutritious commodities along with a lot of pure ghee is poured as a sacrificial offering into the burning fire known as Yajina.

-----

(Here below is Sukulji's rough translation of the same Hindi text.)

Lord Buddha fighted against those of loose conduct, thought , intellect,  greed of social prestige but no sacrifice for it; and also who misused pouring ghee* to fire but no effort to develop self. Is it reasonable to misuse pouring ghee into fire in the country where thousands of people are devoid of nutritious food?

Margiis-- "No Baba!" " Never".

They burn ghee, rice, sugar and what not?... If you have a lot of ghee and rice, distribute it to the poor or you eat them yourself. (Some people are miser) so, if you are miser you eat it your self.

Margiis--- Laughter.

Yes, the fire is also burning in the stomach, Isn't it? Burn them in this fire.

Margiis--- Laughter.

What you say, isn't it?

This, they will not do. The misers will also not do like this. But they will perform Yajina ; How?.....  Pouring all the rotten ghee of house in the fire of Yajina altar.

 Margiis--Laughter...

Yes, this is hypocrisy. Lord Buddha opposed it. It requires much courage
to oppose the social customs. He had that courage.

You analyse this tactfully, that if, you declare a particular river to be holy leaving other rivers in oblivion, would it be reasonable? All wastes and dirtiness of municipality are flowed in  the Ganges, can the water of Ganges remain pure? What type of logic is this? But , you don't oppose this courageously because many people will go against you. You realise but you are unable to speak because you have no courage. Lord Buddha had that courage.

*Note:- A Hindu's ritual in which many nutritious commodities along with a lot of pure ghee is poured as a sacrificial offering into the burning fire known as Yajina.

(If anyone can offer a polished English translation of the above Hindi discourse, please submit that to us.)

SUMMARY

By all of the above it is quite evident that the scene unfolding in Gujurat is a breech of dharmic code of conduct. Those worshipers involved in offering all that ghee are steeped in dogma. Step by step we should help bring them onto the path - and they should realise their gross misuse of resources.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Atideva

Note 1: CALL FOR TOPICS

Please submit topics from your area or around the globe. Baba's teachings are the panacea for all problems, thus report injustices and dogmas that you hear about and we can apply Baba's divine teachings and offer a solution.

"A correct spiritual ideology is the only solution to the problems confronting the world. From this perspective we can call Ananda Marga ideology the philosophers’ stone. Just as the philosophers’ stone is meant to transform everything into gold, Ananda Marga ideology can, most definitely, find a just and rational solution whenever it is applied to any problem." Addendum: Nervousness, Epilepsy, Or Samadhi

Baba

Namaskar,
Here is the addendum to the posting "Nervousness, Epilepsy, or Samadhi." For all information about this topic please reference the main posting...

Relevant Excerpt From "The Form of Sadana" - Subhasita Samgraha -1

We should strengthen ourselves by remaining in normal situations and endeavouring to become superhuman. By developing superhuman powers we can awaken the element of eternal humanity amongst us. This eternal human entity alone is Brahma. In order to attain this power, meanness must be shunned, because this is the sádhaná for the Infinite. Feelings of differentiation are a great impediment. The feelings that a particular person is a Muslim, another a Hindu, yet another a Brahman and the fourth a Vaeshya come from mean thoughts. When every living being is a manifestation of Brahma, how can you know yourself, without shedding these differentiating feelings? No one is high and no one is low. Of course, according to one’s virtues and vices one is happy, one is miserable, one is rich, someone is poor, one is a fool and another is erudite, but all human beings. Differentiating feelings are the principal obstacles in the path of sádhaná and an elevated position cannot be attained without annihilating them. There is a story in the Mahábhárata.

Both Yudhisthira and Duryodhana had invited Lord Krśńa to their respective houses for dinner. While on his way there, Shrii Krśńa entered the house of Vidura. At that time the great Vidura was not at his house. Vidura’s wife was of very limited means and became nervous on the sudden appearance of Shrii Krśńa. She did not know how to give a proper reception to Lord Krśńa and there was no food in the house except bananas. Therefore, after washing His feet she seated the Lord and began to skin the bananas, and feed Him as she inquired about His welfare. Meanwhile the great sage Vidura returned home. He saw the Lord Krśńa sitting and his wife, fully absorbed in feelings, feeding Him the skins of the bananas. Krśńa was eating so happily, that it seemed as if He had never tasted a more delicious food. Vidura was greatly pained to notice the folly of his wife and asked: “What are you doing? You are feeding banana skins to the Lord instead of bananas.” Vidura’s wife was taken aback and started apologizing for her faults. Vidura also implored. “O Lord, Thou hast taken a good many banana skins; do kindly oblige this poor woman by taking a few bananas.” But the Lord said, “Vidura! My stomach is full now. These banana-skins had such an exquisite flavour that there could be no superior food. So long as your wife, forgetting all differences, was feeding me, ‘I’ was there, but now that the difference between the banana and its skin has intervened, ‘I’ is not there.” This is a small story, but it is very instructive. There are no differentiations before the Lord. Lord Shankaracharya was an erudite scholar. He has over-thrown Buddhism and revived Brahmanya religion, but there was a lack of full harmony between his principles and practices. Once after having a dip in the Ganges at Kashii, he was returning towards the road and he saw an untouchable walking with a number of dogs. For fear of his body being touched he attempted to bypass them. Then the untouchable said: “O Lord! Is this the result of your principle that there is only Brahma and nothing else? You are known by the name Brahmajiṋáni. The feeling of differentiation is developed even by treating a pariah as mean.”

The Supreme Brahma resides within the feeling “I am” situated amidst the concealed intuition of the mind. Our existence is in him. He exists in the sun-rays. Due to Him the perception of the world is possible. Having created our ego and scattered innumerable toys around us. He has hidden Himself among them. When we come to see Him in all things created by Him, our ego gets lost. The feeling of unit “I” shall be merged in the Universal “I”.

Quiz: Who is Baba talking about? Which Apostle of Peace?

Quiz:

Who is Baba talking about? Which Apostle of Peace?

Intro: Kindly read the below quote from Baba's teachings. At the end of the quote a question has been posed. If your answer to the question is correct then it means you read Baba's books carefully; and, if your answer is wrong or you do not know the answer, then it signifies that you need to pay more attention when reading Guru's teachings. After all, if sadhakas are not diligent in studying Baba's books then who is going to read them - non-margiis?

Now here is the quote from Baba's teachings and the question is Who is Baba speaking about in the below quote?

"We have seen many apostles of non-violence in this world of ours who gave the impression by their writings and speeches that they had come to transform the very dust particles of the earth into spiritual essence, into a spiritual paradise. People offered all the sweetness of their hearts, and all the benevolent thoughts of their minds, unto their feet. But later they discovered that those apostles, making an abrupt about-face, deserted them at the time of crisis. They polluted their tongues with their hypocritical statements, and the people felt helpless and betrayed." (NSS, Disc: 14)

Ok, it is good that you have read the quote, now see if you know the answer then see below. And if you are a new sadhaka and you do not know the answer the look below.

Answer: In His above teaching Baba is talking about M.K. Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi. In Ananda Marga we do not consider him to be a "mahatma" or great soul, so we just refer to him via his worldly name, MK Gandhi or Mohandas Karmachand Gandhi.

Specifically in the above teaching Baba is referring to when Gandhiji promised that "India will be divided over my dead body." But then when it was divided, then Gandhiji kept mum - he did not have the courage to say anything. In that critical moment where millions were needlessly massacred, butchered, and tortured, the people felt completely helpless and betrayed by Gandhiji's hypocrisy and cowardly approach.

Communists Missed The Point About Infatuation Vrtii

Quiz: Who is Baba talking about?

"Those who believe in the equal distribution of the world’s wealth, naively underestimate the power of moha vrtti. The human mind can be sublimated only by spiritual ideation, not by any high-sounding philosophy. This utopian idea has proved ineffective in the past and in the present and will continue to prove so in the future." (Ananda Marga Philosophy - 8)

Answer: In His above teaching, Baba is indirectly referring to the communists. It was those communist leaders who underestimated moha vrtii, with regards to one's attachment to land. Those communists were fascinated with their own philosophy and hence could not understand that the people would not like giving up their land. So when it was taken from them, the farming suffered. Not enough food was produced; and the end result was widespread starvation and strife. The root cause of the problem was that those communists could not understand that the people were attached to their land, i.e. moha vrtti. Forcibly taking their land set off this entire negative chain of events.

Prabhat Samgiita #540: Purport + Song

Baba

PS Intro: This below Prabhat Samgiita highlights the divine glory and greatness of Parama Purusa.

Note: The audio file for this song has been uploaded to our blogsite: http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

"Tumi kotha'y chile, kotha'y tha'ko, keu ta' jane na'..." (PS 540)

Purport:

O' Parama Purus'a, where were You - where have You been? I have been searching all over for You. Where do You reside - nobody knows. I have been looking everywhere for You. You are the smallest of the small and the most vast of the vast [1]. I have not been able to find you anywhere. Baba, those who want You, ultimately You make them Yours, You merge them into Your Divine Self [2]. O' Infinite Entity, You are boundless, You cannot be held. O' Parama Purus'a, where do You reside -
nobody knows.

O' my Dearmost, in this entire universe, no single manifestation can express Your full beauty. The moon's smile - the ocean breeze - the smiling flower - the sweet charming sky - all these beautiful things were created by You. You have filled this world with Your divine expressions, yet they are not Your True Self. They are not Your full expression nor can they express Your full sweetness. All these things are mere small reflections of Your infinite charm. O' Ananta, You are limitless. Your full glory cannot be expressed in words, shapes, or forms. O' Parama Purus'a, where do You reside - nobody knows.

O' Parama Purusa, You are so gracious. In my ideation and in my meditation, my every atom and molecule are dancing in Your flow - it is Your grace. You do everything for me. Baba, You have been playing the flute [3] since time immemorial and You will continue up to eternity. By this way, You have been attracting me and drawing me closer to You. O' my Lord, Your effulgence is infinite and unfathomable.

O' Parama Purus'a, where have You been, where do You reside - nobody knows. O' Baba, please grace me by coming close...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #540:

[1] Here below Baba explains how Parama Purusa is more vast than the vast and smaller than the small. Becuase of this one cannot find Him with their crude senses.

"On the one hand Parama Purus'a is very vast; on the other hand He is very small. He is so vast that you cannot fully see Him. In Sam'skrta, there are a few words to describe something very vast: visha'la, vira't'a, brhat, etc. Out of these, the words vira't'a and brhat are used to describe an entity which is immeasurably vast, and visha'la is used for an entity which may be vast, but can be measured. For instance, the Himalayan mountains are very vast in size, but still
they can be measured in terms of miles, from south to north and from east to west. In the scriptures it has been said.

Brhacca taddivyam acintyaru'pam'...

"Parama Purus'a is extremely vast: then how can you see such a vast Entity with your dim vision? It is impossible. And besides seeing such a divine effulgence, your eyes will be blinded; your vision will be completely lost."

Su'ks'macca tat su'ksmataram' vibhati

"Parama Purus'a is not only vast. He is small as well – so small, so subtle that you cannot see Him with your physical eyes. Human ocular power is extremely limited: if an object is very vast it cannot be seen, and if it is very small and subtle it cannot be seen either." (SS-12)

[2] In these below quotes, Baba is telling that one cannot go close to Him and still remain separate. When one gets closer and closer, then by His grace, the bhakta will merge in Him - just like a piece of salt gets merged in the ocean, it can not longer remain a separate grain of salt.

"If a salt doll goes to fathom the sea, it will certainly melt and become the sea itself. Similarly, if the knower of the Supreme Consciousness goes to fathom the Supreme, he merges in the sea of Consciousness and becomes Supreme himself. Be constantly absorbed in the thought of the Supreme Consciousness and you too will become Supreme." (SS-2)

"If a salt doll goes to measure the sea, it will melt into it. Neither can it measure the sea, nor will it ever return, its existence will merge into the vastness of the sea, releasing it from all cares and worries. If one wishes to take the form of the sea, one will have to become the sea itself; there is no other way. None of His qualities has any limit. His fragmentary manifestations are all passing through unlimited forms, due to His ceaseless imaginative flow: none of them is an end in itself." (SS-3)

[3] Here below Baba explains the inner meaning of the sound of the flute and how the bhakta rushes towards Parama Purusa due to His divine attraction.

"The music emanating from Krs'n'a's flute shook the minds of the sa'dhakas, causing them to echo and vibrate. This resonance is nothing but prapattiva'da. Here there is scope neither for jina'na nor for karma. Here mobility is the only task, the only dharma. “The way He is calling me – I am to move accordingly.” This state of mind is one of the sweetest states, the madhura gun'a [sweet quality] of prapattiva'da. “I am rushing ahead due to the sweet call of His flute and entering into His sweet and blissful environment.” Hence for Vraja Krs'n'a, there is no need to interpret the faculties of knowledge and action. There is no scope for fighting over philosophical ideas. Only complete prapatti is there, and once it shakes the jiiva, he can no longer stay away. One rushes out and starts running after Him." (NKS, Disc: 4)

"The spiritual aspirant hears the various sounds of onm'ka'ra or pran'ava [like the sound of the flute] at various stages, during deep sa'dhana', during sweet sa'dhana'. The sound is called Krs'n'a’s muraliidhvani. The sa'dhaka becomes mad because of this sound and goes deeper and attains Ra'dha' bha'va more and more, and rushes headlong forward." (DKG)

You can only be seen from within

Baba

PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"Tumi esechile maner nikhile, manke bhariya' royecho..." (PS 1514)

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, You are so loving; You have graciously come in my mind, in my mental abode, in my mental horizon. You have come in my Guru cakra, in my dhyana. O' my Dearmost, You have filled my mind again and again with Your divine bliss, by showering Your grace. O' my Lord, You are filling my mind with Your sweet touch. Each and every cell of my existence is ensconced in You. I am immersed in Your ideation. O' Supreme Entity, with Your infinite compassion, You have coloured my mental plate with Your divine colour. I am completely immersed and riveted by Your infinite glory and charm. O' my Dearmost, You have stolen my mind. Baba, all my thoughts reside in You. It is Your grace.

O' Parama Purusa, O' Jewel of my mind, You are in my mind - You are in my heart. O' Divine Entity, You are in my sadhana and in my dhyana: Watching me and keeping me under Your shelter. From the outside You cannot be seen; externally, You are invisible. You always remain hidden from the senses. O' my Lord, You are hiding from all; nobody can see You. Only the mind can see You. You can only be seen from within. O' my Dearmost, in the effulgence of the jewel, in my mind, You are emanating Your Divine Self. It is Your causeless grace.

O' Parama Purusa, by Your grace I love You so much. You are Cosmic and I am unit. You are vast and I am meagre. You are infinite and I am tiny. You are Parama Purusa and I am a human being. O' my Dearest, You are the Ocean and I am a mere tiny drop of water. There is no comparison between You and me. Even then, without any fear I come closer and closer to You. This is not due to my effort; it is due to Your divine attraction. Because of Your causeless grace, I have fallen in love with You.

Baba, O' Parama Purusa, my life is filled countless ups and downs. So many of my hopes, aspirations, and desires have been shattered. Facing all these difficulties - amidst hundreds of sorrows - by Your grace I smile. Because You are in my heart. O' the Gopal who is Love Personified - O' the Gopal of Love - in the world of songs, and in the colour of ideation, You have blessed me and allowed me to hold You.

Baba, You are Love Personified, You have brought me under Your shelter. This is Your causeless grace. Baba, I love You...

PRABHAT SAMGIITA # 392

Baba

PRABHAT SAMGIITA # 392

"Maner mayu'r meleche je pa'kha' krs'n'a meghe dekhe ca'nderi pa'she... " PS 392

Purport:

The divine Entity Parama Purusa has come and by His holy advent the whole creation is getting awakened. By seeing the clouds close to the moon, my mind has become like that peacock that is extending its feathers & spreading its plumage in a most beautiful and stunning manner [1]. By the effect of the divinely intoxicating and vibrating songs, the lyre of my heart is getting resonated.

The lost heart  has come back again, i.e. my most dear Parama Purusa has returned back. All those tunes which I had lost are again being played. O' Parama Purua, by Your grace my entire existence has been revived and awakened. In the deep blue sky, that divinely-inspired, heart-filled vibration has come.

With the advent of the ever-new Parama Purusa, everything which was lost has been transformed and rejuvenated. The rhythm which was gone has again returned, & now my whole body and mind are starting to dance to the tune which I had lost in the past. I have offered the entire basket of my heart at His alter; I have surrendered my whole existence at His lotus feet. The sweet breeze saturated with the flower fragrance is blowing.

Baba, due to Your blissful presence and causeless grace, everything has gotten new life...

NOTE FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #392:

[1] Line 1 Meaning - "By seeing the clouds close to the moon, my mind has become like that peacock that is extending its feathers & spreading its plumage in a most beautiful and stunning manner": This line is the expression of deep, deep joy. A peacock longs for rain and can sense by the formation of clouds when the rains will come. Seeing the clouds collect around the moon, the peacock becomes very happy as it knows that rain is soon going to fall. With great happiness, the peacock exuberantly jumps and dances with the expectation and arrival of rain. This scene of joy symbolizes the tremendous bliss devotees feel with the arrival of Parama Purusa. The devotee longs for the presence of Parama Purusa and desires the closeness of that Divine Entity. Thus His divine advent brings waves of bliss and spiritual vibration in the mind of the devotee. By the arrival of Parama Purusa, the sadhaka's mind is ensconced in bliss. Thus, this is a song of arrival as well as a song boundless joy. In this composition the peacock is an allegory for the mind of the sadhaka.
