Baba did not review pre-1990 books + 2 more

Baba

Baba did not review pre-1990 books

Namaskar,

Sadly, many margiis were led to believe that AMPS books were all reviewed by Baba, and are therefore perfect. But that is 100% wrong. Due to intense time constraints, as soon as AMPS purchased an audio recorder, Baba no longer reviewed discourses and books. Practically speaking, He did not review any of those discourses that had an audio recording. And here is the proof.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

TP listed 2000 (approx) mistakes in AM books

Please click on the link below which displays a lengthy registry of mistakes in AMPS books. There are around 2000 errors listed on this errata page, and that list was compiled by none other than AMPS Tiljala Publications (TP), sometime after 2010.

It is thus plainly obvious that these books were not reviewed by Sadguru Baba as these books have thousands of mistakes.

Conclusion: Pure books

To solve this issue permanently, Pure books have been made, which are direct transcriptions of Baba’s audio file. Now it is the moral duty of all margiis and Wts to help propagate and distribute those Pure discourses throughout the society.

State of death

Ananda Marga ideology states, "When the physical body no longer remains, that is, when one passes into a bodiless state of existence, then the mind remains just as a seed, modified into the form of saḿskáras. There being no brain or nerve cell attached to it, it cannot perform any function. It commits no sin, nor can it acquire any virtue. It is completely good for nothing, a worthless entity. The cultivation of rationality is as much beyond its capacity as is mental work. Its existence thus is meaningless. Its only destiny is to carry the burden of saḿskáras over and over again. There is nothing else for it to do; it is a completely helpless being. It is only when it is privileged to have a physical structure that it is in a position to cultivate dharma; that is not possible under any other condition whatsoever. Even the feeling that “I cannot do dharma sádhaná” is absent there. Because mental functions are not possible without nerve cells. When there is a physical body, there is scope for the mind to think of higher things, and dharma sádhaná is possible for human beings." (1)

Sadhaka life & beauty + 5 more

Baba
Sadhaka life & beauty
Namaskar,

It is the norm nowadays for people to run after "beauty" in the mundane world. So we should investigate what that worldly beauty really is, why one feels attracted to something, as well as how far those finite objects are really able to quench and satisfy one's inner desire. Infinite beauty is one of the inherent qualities, as well as one of the countless attributions, of Parama Purusa. And by His grace bhaktas realise this in their lives.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Beauty is subjective

As we have all remarked, in this day to day world, people find beauty in so many things. A mother finds beauty in her children; climbers find beauty in the mountain; a shopper finds beauty in a hat or a dress; and, on and on it goes. So many people find beauty in so many things.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Human beings look at the world, with its profusion of changing forms, and become fascinated by them." (1)

However, it is also certainly true that what is beautiful to one person may not be perceived as being beautiful to the next. So that is the unending specialty of worldly beauty: It varies from person to person. Some are fully enamoured with certain things and find them to be completely beautiful; whereas, others may find those very same objects to be ordinary, distasteful, or even repulsive. This is the way of the world.

Thus what is beautiful - and what is ugly - varies dramatically from one person to the next. Certainly we have all witnessed this in our lives. One person finds a particular painting worthy of being placed in the most honoured art museum, and another person finds that same painting to be incomplete or poorly done. With each and every worldly expression, the degree of its beauty or lack thereof, depends solely on the beholder.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

No worldly object gives unending fulfillment

One thing is certain: when anyone does find something beautiful in this world then they want to remain close to it.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Suppose you see something and take a fancy to it. 'Ah, how fine it is!' you will exclaim in joy. Suppose you listen to a nice piece of music and deeply enjoy it. Your friend may be sitting nearby, but you will surely say, 'Wait a bit, please. Let me listen to the music a little longer'." (2)

According to the above teaching, people want to remain near any object they find beautiful because it gives them a sense of satiation and fulfillment. And not only do they want to remain close, invariably people try to get more and more intimate with whatever they feel to be beautiful. Because by getting closer and closer they want to increase the amount of inner satiation which they derive from that object. And since human longing is infinite, human beings wish to derive maximum fulfillment from worldly things up to eternity. This is their dream.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Whether it be a person, a motor vehicle, a sculpture, a house by the lake, or whatever, the beholder wants to attain infinite happiness from that object which they perceive to be beautiful. So initially when people find something to be beautiful in this mundane world then they rush up towards that thing and desire to remain in its contact - and get closer and closer to that - thinking that it will give them unending fulfillment. But actually in this mundane world, no object has that capacity to continue to attract someone and fulfill their desire up to eternity. No mundane expression has that charm; no mundane expression has that beauty.

Intimacy with Parama Purusa

Everyone wants infinite beauty and until they come in contact with Parama Purusa then they go on running after transient objects. In that sense, they are no different from young babies or toddlers that are constantly putting dirt, coins, sticks, plastic and other things in their mouth hoping that it will taste good and satiate their hunger. In their quest for food, they try one after another inert objects, whatever they can get their hands on.

Common people function in the same way, sampling so many mundane objects and interests hoping that that will satiate them - but alas they remain unfulfilled. Just like the baby who is reaching for stones, dirty wrappers, and paper etc and placing those objects in their mouth in hopes of having their hunger satisfied. Ultimately though, for the sadhaka, one day by His grace they come in contact with His Divine touch, and the spiritual journey begins. They begin the mystical quest to gain intimacy and oneness with Parama Purusa.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And this is what should be sought after in life - His Supreme Beauty. As long as this stage does not come, they go on running after one thing of beauty yet then again those beautiful things become ugly to them, and then they chase after another beauty. This type of never-ending search and feeling of frustration happens until the sadhaka starts his march towards Parama Purusa. Because in the relative sphere that which is most beautiful today becomes ugly tomorrow, and this journey goes on and on until one comes in contact with Parama Purusa the Most Beautiful One.

So while people tire of mundane objects, the opposite is the case with Parama Purusa. At first, from a distance one may not feel that He is so beautiful. Due to the pull of avidya maya, one may actually get attracted elsewhere. So until one is graced to find beauty in Parama Purusa, then in their desperate state they will frantically run from one mundane so-called beautiful thing to the next. Because everyone is moving around trying to find that most beautiful expression that can fulfill the yearning in their heart.

Conclusion

By the resplendent grace of Sadguru and with their good samskara, sadhakas feel some initial attraction for Parama Purusa. His vibration satisfies a yearning in their heart and they feel a sense of calm, by His grace. Naturally then, by feeling His sweet vibration, the sadhaka desires to go more close. And because Parama Purusa is that infinite One, He can continually emanate and exude a sweeter and sweeter vibration that satisfies and satiates the infinite longing of the human heart. So the closer one gets to Him the more calm and peaceful they feel. The mind becomes filled with bliss. And in that supremely tranquil state, they feel that indeed Parama Purusa is the most beautiful One. Those with less bhakti may not understand this. Verily it is those blessed, top-grade bhaktas who feel that Parama Purusa is most beautiful.

Namaskar,

Cirasakha'

~ In-depth study ~

Why only Parama Purusa is ever beautiful

The closer one gets to Him the more satiation they feel, and the more beautiful He becomes. And ultimately, attracted by that ever increasing beauty, one moves closer and closer towards Parama Purusa - until finally one day one merges in Him.

That is why only Parama Purusa is Sundar - only He is the most Beautiful One. Only He can give that complete satiation to the infinite longing of the human heart. By getting Him one feels so much fulfillment, that is why only Parama Purusa is Sundar. And ultimately, by His grace, we reach that permanent state of fulfillment - drifting endlessly in His bliss.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

As sadhakas, our duty is to run after this real beauty - His eternally beautiful Self, and not any illusory or transient thing which for a fleeting moment in time appears to be beautiful.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Salutations to Parama Purusa the Beautiful...whose lotus feet were worshipped by the gods, and whose body was adorned with precious gems. Salutations to Parama Purusa the Beautiful, who was the most reliable helmsman on the ocean of this universe, who removed the fear of annihilation, who granted salvation to aspiring souls." (3)

In this vast universe, only Parama Purusa is that most Beautiful Entity. By His grace may we all fully realise this divine truth.

Prout: leaders must be God-centered

Ananda Marga ideology states, “This lacuna in the physical sphere, and the consequent disparity, is the noumenal cause of all phenomenal troubles. Due to this noumenal cause, peace in the psychic sphere is being disturbed again and again.”
“With this end in view, with the sole purpose of removing physical misery and affliction, and keeping in view the higher goals of human life, the Prout philosophy has been formulated. There was no alternative but to propagate the Prout philosophy. Had it not been done, maybe human sorrows and sufferings would have been perpetrated for centuries together. Mean opportunists would have continued their exploitation, taking advantage of the simplicity or intellectual deficiency of the innocent and credulous masses. This exploitation has been perpetrated mainly in three ways: oppression, suppression and exploitation.” (1)

Note: As explained above, Prout philosophy has been formulated by Baba for two fundamental reasons:
(a) To keep the mind fixed towards the Goal - Parama Purusa.
(b) To solve all the problems in human society.
The overall idea being that any theory that does not have a spiritual Goal and only focuses on solving society's problems will not only render itself useless but will prove to be disastrous also. History has shown this. Here following is further explanation.

In the first paragraph of Baba's above cited message, He is giving His special guideline that Prout is spiritually-based, and that it "keeps the Goal firmly in front of one's eyes." And by this divine ideal, Baba has given Prout to alleviate the problems in all the sphere's of life.

And in the second paragraph of the above quotation, Baba is telling us that materialistic approaches like communism utterly fail to properly guide the society. Communism attempted to cure the social ills by redistributing the wealth etc. But without a proper goal, communism only wreaked havoc on the people and created more problems and worse destruction. So any socio-economic theory must be spiritually based-- this is Baba's teaching in Prout. Baba describes this in various discourses including “The Future of Civilization.”

Unfortunately these days, in a few materialistic countries some are claiming that certain non-margiis are top-grade Proutists. Such persons wrongly think that spirituality is not needed for being a Proutist. Their understanding is comparable to one blind person's evaluation of an elephant. Blind people conclude that an elephant is like a rope or a pillar, depending upon what part of the elephant that they touch. So their limited understanding is devoid of any greater meaning. Similar is the understanding of those who think that Prout can be led by non-margiis. Their level of understanding is no better than that of one small kid.

Teaching kids to lie: Santa Claus & monkey god

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “When the parents are about to go on a trip or go to a show, or when they are invited to a pleasant function or a social outing, the children may start whining or nattering to accompany them. At such times many parents tell lies without a qualm; somehow they dupe their children and leave. When the children realize what has happened, they also learn to tell lies; and to hide their intentions or their actions from their parents, they gradually start lying more and more.”
“Parents deceive their children in many ways. By calling sweet things bitter and pleasant things unpleasant, they prevent their children from enjoying them. But by disregarding parental injunctions and prying inquisitively, as is the wont of human nature, children discover the truth. Then they realize that their parents have been deceiving them. As a result they start deceiving not only their parents, but their friends and classmates as well. So it is abundantly clear that children are taught the first lessons in the arts of lying and deception by their own parents at home.” (1)

Note: Baba’s above teaching shows how lying and cheating first starts in the home - i.e. kids learn from their parents. This gets exhibited in so many ways - amongst all populations. This occurs even during the holidays and times of celebration. For instance, those from a Christian background teach their children to believe in Santa Claus - an imaginary man with a big belly and a long white beard who comes down the chimney and brings gifts to children. And when Santa Claus is not delivering gifts around the planet then he resides at the North Pole. Another example of an imaginary holiday creature is the Easter Bunny. These are both fake and fabricated entities. But for the first years of their lives, kids are naively and innocently led to believe that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real. This is taught to them first and foremost by their parents. And the children believe it wholeheartedly. These are some of their most graphic childhood memories - and yet it is all based on falsehood. Inevitably, by the age of 7, 8, 9, or 10 etc, those kids realise that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real and that they have been lied to - i.e. duped. And it is at that moment they learn how to deceive and befool others in the same manner.

Similarly Hindus befool kids by telling them tales, lies, and stories that the mythological monkey God is real. And they show them the idol to show the monkey god exists. In turn children really believe the monkey god flew from point A to point B carrying a mountain. Even after growing up, many carry this dogma their whole life.

Conclusion

(a) Before telling any story, parents should be careful not to tell anything which is false.
(b) If a child is asking a question and you do not know the answer, then do not tell them a lie. Best is to say, "I do not know. I will try and find the answer for you."
(c) The worst thing is to tell them something false. And the absolute worst is to terrorise them by saying, "Do not ask anymore questions." Small kids especially ask a lot of questions to all those who are around. That time is crucial not to shut them up. Those who shut up children stymie and stun their psychic progress.
(d) Remember inquisitiveness is the greatest thing in human life as it leads to all sorts of progress. So do not crush their inquisitiveness.

With or Without Úṋcii

Meaning of bhukti if it is spelled wrong = “enjoying and gorging on food”
Meaning of bhúkti if it is spelled right = “area, territory, district”

Bábá’s Guideline - Correct Spelling of Bhúkti

First let us see what the correct way of writing Bhúkti is. In His description of the term Bhúkti provided during a field walk in Pune, in the year 1979, Bábá very clearly provides the etymology. See the following excerpt (and yellow highlighted portion for the etymology) from the As-Is transcription of the audio recording of the discourse.

Excerpt of Bábá’s Audio File Transcription

Fieldwalk Pune - 2

26 November 1979 Pune

[बाबा बोले--] हरित से हरा | हरित धान्य the land of green vegetable, vegetation | हरित धान्य माने "vegetation, not paddy" | Paddy का संस्कृत व्रीहि | तो, land of green vegetation | चारों तरफ़ हरा भरा देख रहे हैं | Central Asia के आदमी आए | Dry area के...वाह हरा है | तो, हरित धान्य → हरिया हन्य → हरि हाना → हरियाना |

[Excerpt of Bábá’s Audio File Transcription Ends Here]

Explanation in English:
Bábá’s teaching on the spelling of “bhúkti”

For those who cannot read Devanágari script, the translation of Bábá’s explanation of the spelling of the word bhúkti is as follows:

Bábá says: "In the spelling of bhúkti, following “bh” is a big “ú”, long “ú”."

As per Bábá’s explanation:
Wrong spelling of the term bhukti = bhukti
Right spelling of the term bhúkti = bhúkti

Meaning of bhukti if it is spelled wrong = “enjoying and gorging on food”
Meaning of bhúkti if it is spelled right = “area, territory, district”

Bábá goes on to explain the technical etymology of this word bhúkti, as further proof of why there needs to be placed an úṋcii on the “u” so as to make it long. Bábá says:

“Bhúiṋc” dhátu ktin, pr minus dhá plus anat = Bhúkti Pradhána

Bábá is explaining that the root verb itself from which the word bhúkti is made, has a long “ú” in it. And so the word bhúkti -- in order to carry the sense “area, territory, district” -- must also have a long  “ú”.

The essence of Bábá’s explanation is “In the spelling of bhúkti, following “bh” is a big “ú”, long “ú”.

Pioneer of the new trend

Original Ananda Vanii states: “The Supreme Spirit within humanity, neglected for ages, has awakened today. This awakening will initiate a new chapter in human history. You will all be the pioneers of the new trend.” (Ananda Vanii #1)

Note: Sadguru Baba has assigned a number to all His original and true Ananda Vaniis. In contrast, Fake Ananda Vaniis do not have any number. By this simple formula, one can easily recognise which is a true Ananda Vanii and which is fake. For the upcoming occasion of January 1st 2017, all Ananda Marga units should use one of Baba’s original and true Ananda Vaniis, not a fake one. By this way, one will surely get His blessing.

Never this type of food + 4 more

Baba
Never this type of food

Namaskar,

Baba's following guideline is instrumental for all sadhakas.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states:
- "Priityanna: If a person wants to feed you out of genuine intimacy, you should take that food happily, even if it is just grains and vegetables. But if someone invites you only to make a show to people, never accept his/her food.”
- “Ápadanna: When life is jeopardized because of the lack of food and water, you need not consider whether the food is prohibited on any grounds or comes from an unworthy person.”
- “Shráddhánna: Shráddhánna (food offered at a memorial service) is neither priityanna nor ápadanna, hence it is not to be taken." (1)

Suppose you are invited to a feast

Suppose you are invited to a grand feast at someone's house. To celebrate, that host has the finest chefs prepare the tastiest delicacies and dainties for everyone to eat. The host does this not because he wishes to serve the community with love and affection, but rather because he wants to put on an ornate show and bring prestige unto himself. Proof being that if you cannot attend his feast, then he is not the least bit sorry or remorseful, because he will just get another person to replace you - someone else who will pay him honour and respect.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Under such conditions, when the host is not governed by a service mentality, but rather is giving a feast with huge pomp and show to heighten his own prestige and self-satisfaction, then attending the program and eating that food is against Guru’s aforesaid guideline in Caryacarya. Because, that food is donkey's food, or gardabha'nna.

Here below is an English summary of Baba’s teaching in Bengali from Shabda Cayanika.

If food is not given with that heart-felt feeling and if one's own life is not in danger due to starvation, in that condition then any food offered is donkey food, gardabha'nna. So one must not eat that food. (English summary of Shabda Cayanika - 20, p.163-64 [Bangla])

Under no circumstances - unless one is going to starve to death - should a sadhaka eat food that is presented as a show of one's wealth and greatness. Because that food is nothing but donkey food, or gardabha'nna.

As we all know, in His practical life, on many occasions Baba refused food whenever wealthy people or dignitaries invited Him to dine at their house just to impress others. So we should follow Baba's example and never eat food that is not offered with genuine warmth and kindness. If ever food is given to you with some ulterior motive - such as for prestige and grandeur, not because the host has a heart-felt feeling for you - then that food is veritably donkey food.

What is donkey food

One aspect to keep in mind is that gardabha'nna varies from person to person. For instance, if that same host as described above will feel hurt and upset if you do not attend and eat his food, then for you that food is not gardabha'nna; it is not donkey food. Let's examine this further. If that host invites 500 people and he has very intimate relations with 10 of those invited guests, then for those ten people it is ok to eat the food. Because the host has a genuine and earnest desire to serve and feed those 10 people with love and affection.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Yet for those other 490 people, the host's feast is donkey food as for them the host's only desire is to put on a big show. The host does not care if those 490 people come or not. If any of them are sick or unable to attend, that host will not be disappointed or upset or wounded; he will simply replace their spot with someone else. That is how the same feast can be sentient for one person yet gardabha'nna for others. It has to be evaluated on a case by case basis.

This type of scenario applies to all kinds of social functions like marriages, house entrance ceremonies, baby-naming gatherings and other social functions. In all such circumstances, the operative factor is the host's individual feeling towards you. If with genuine heartfelt feeling he wants to serve and feed you, then it is fine to eat that food. But if he just wants to make a social display by feeding you then it is gardabha'nna.

Here is another situation related with individual life: It is also donkey food if a person has cooked food with the intention of eating it all. To eat even a small portion of that food is also gardabha'nna as the person who prepared the food has no desire to share any of it.

Gardabha kiirtan, gardabha bhajan

This type of insincere show known as donkey food is not limited to the realm of food. We have all seen various kiirtan players or bhajan singers who perform solely to display their own musical or lyrical talents. That is known as donkey kiirtan because they are singing to glorify themselves, not to serve and please Parama Purusa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Kiirtan is all about singing to please Parama Purusa - for His glory, not one's own glory. And the essence of bhajans is to share one's inner heart feeling with the Lord, and not to procure attention for oneself. Yet at retreats or dharmacakra, sometimes it can happen that a person might lead a kiirtan or bhajan in order to win over the admiration of others. If this is done consistently, again and again, such performers run the risk of being converted into microvita at the time of death.

That said, it is not just the musicians who are prone to such downfalls. Sometimes a kiirtan or bhajan participant may dance with such extroverted tendencies or sing with such ego that it is quite evident to all around that that person is doing just in hopes of drawing attention to themselves - so that others will think they are a great bhakta.

Whenever one is driven by ego or show, that derails their ability to go close to Parama Purusa. That is why we call these misguided approaches: Gardabha kiirtan and gardabha bhajan, i.e. donkey kiirtan and donkey bhajan.

Gardabha sa'dhana'

This can occur in the stratum of sadhana as well. Before giving an example, it has to be said that the sincerity and earnestness in spiritual practice is quite high in our Ananda Marga, so this letter by no means aims to cast doubt that abc or xyz persons are doing donkey practices. Most are fine and okay - this is just a general letter for everyone's awareness and knowledge. After all, each and every person knows there own situation best.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Now let's say someone rarely does sa'dhana' in their own home etc, but then when they go to the jagrti or to a retreat, then suddenly they start sitting for long, long sadhana, as if that is their regular way each and every morning and evening. And not only that, but when they finish their sadhana they are keen to see if others are taking notice of how long they sat. And if still they do not feel that they got the attention they deserved, then during meal time they will casually say that, 'It was very good to be able to sit for 3hr sadhana today etc', and then quickly scan the eyes and faces of others to see if they were impressed or not.

From all these instances, we can easily understand that that person is doing sadhana not to please Parama Purusa - not to serve Him - but rather to bring name, fame, and prestige unto themselves. They want people to think that they are a great sadhaka. That is why their sadhana is just donkey sadhana.

Donkey practices can be very dangerous

Okay, let's say someone you know does do donkey kiirtan, or donkey bhajan, or donkey sadhana on occasion. Then they must be extremely careful, lest they harm and degrade themselves. Because what they are doing is just a superficial show. They are highlighting themselves: So they are focusing on their own unit existence, not Parama Purusa. In that case, the mind becomes smaller and more selfish. Unfortunately, by that way, they degrade themselves and place themselves onto the path of negative pratisaincara towards animal life. That is the very real concern.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

For such persons, their kiirtan and sadhana is motivated by duplicity and hypocrisy. They feign bhakti and harbour the desire to glorify their own existence. Their hypocrisy is the sad sign of downfall and degradation. Such persons should take notice.

There remains a glimmer of hope, by Baba's grace. No doubt donkey kiirtan, donkey bhajan, and donkey sadhana cause false vanity etc, yet our Ananda Marga mantras are charged by Sadguru. So while repeating the mantra, even if one was initially motivated by selfish desires, one may develop sincere love for Parama Purusa. And that is the greatest achievement and blessing. But for this to occur, there must be sincerity and an earnest desire to change.

So if they change their ways they can progress on the path, by Baba's grace. Otherwise such hypocritical displays of donkey sadhana will lead them in the wrong direction. Best is to ideate on Parama Purusa and not fall prey to such donkey kiirtan and sadhana, i.e. superficial show of kiirtana and sadhana.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Remember, everyone is entitled to sa'dhana'. For this, nothing, neither pedigree, education, knowledge nor any asset, is necessary except only two things – implicit faith and sincerity. Arouse these two things through your will-power and victory is yours, it must come." (2)

~ In-depth study ~

Baba warns us that one must not go into debt in order to arrange any kind of feast or feeding - not for any occasion.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "Arranging the feast by taking a loan or incurring a debt is prohibited." (3)

When food becomes donkey food

Here is more about what Baba has to say about donkey food. The following is an English summary of Baba’s teaching in Bengali from Shabda Cayanika.

(a) Donkey food (Gardabha'nna) is that food purchased with ill-begotten money or sinfully earned money.

(b) If someone feeds you with deep love, respect, and affection and that feeling is conveyed through their expression, talk and conduct, and by feeding you they feel blissful ("Toma'ke kha'iae a'nandit hobe") and very content, and if you do not eat then they will feel pain, in this situation whatever food you eat in their house-- even if it is just boiled grass-- will be treated as priityanna (proper & sentient food). Any meal or food not prepared under such ideal conditions is donkey food.

(c) So if food is not given with that heart-felt feeling and if one's own life is not in danger due to starvation, in that condition then any food offered is donkey food, Gardabha'nna. So one must not eat that food.

Note: In western society that food which is not fit for human consumption is typically labeled as 'dog food'. And a similar idea Baba has conveyed above by the term donkey food - "Gardabha'nna". (English Summary Shabda Cayanika - 20, p.163-64 [Bangla])

This type of spiritual practice does not work

Simplicity, sincerity, and honesty are some of the main pillars in the life of any sa'dhaka.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Vanii says, "The most valuable treasures on the path of human progress are honesty, simplicity and spiritedness. In no stratum of life should you allow the standard of honesty to deteriorate..." (4)

If one approaches their life duties like preparing food and doing sadhana with an earnest desire to serve Parama Purusa and His creation, then there is no question of any donkey food or donkey kiirtan. Then all one's actions will be pure and sentient. Here Baba warns about superficial displays in spiritual life.

Jap tap vedajiṋána vidhi bhakti japadhyán ihá haite mádhurya durlabh
Keval ye rágamárge bhaje Krśńa anuráge táhe Krśńa mádhurya sulabh.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Those who repeat their ista mantra mechanically, or undergo severe penance, or endlessly study the scriptures, or express a show of devotion, or practise meditation in a ritualistic way, can never feel the charm, the joy, of spiritual realization. That sweet discovery is only possible for those who worship [Parama Purusa] out of deep devotion to Him." (5)

Liability of dry intellectuals

Namaskar

Baba makes the following points about ancient Indian philosophies.  It is an interesting and educative read for common masses to analyze what type of study is of practical value in one's spiritual life.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The next factor is the theoretician’s psychology. When theoreticians expound a theory they do not study the world to ascertain its practical application. Blind to what is underneath their feet, and with total disregard for reality, they build castles high in the sky. After some time most of the theoreticians’ philosophies fade into obscurity.”
“So many theories have been expounded throughout the history of India. Some of them even had some practical application and, to some extent, met with success. But you will notice that, among the five theist philosophies, the Nyáya philosophy (not the Nyáya of Kanáda but that of Gautama) soars high without having any concern for the practical plane. Therefore, no practical cult was possible on the basis of Gautamiiya Nyáya. In medieval India, many scholars of Nyáya uselessly researched year after year the question [[Pátrádhára taela kiḿvá taeládhára pátra? – “Is it oil contained in a pot, or is it a pot containing oil?”]] This has nothing to do with the real world. Some people may wonder why there was not more development in Pathan India, in spite of a high population of scholars. The reason is that Nyáya philosophy, the philosophy divorced from practicality, had too great an influence on life.”
“There is one more defect in the theoretician’s psychology. Human life is trifarious: physical, intellectual and spiritual. However, the theoreticians remain confined to the intellectual realm, ignoring the physical and spiritual spheres. Thus they make no effort to practically materialize their theories. First, their theories are impractical; second, they make no efforts to materialize them.
“The third factor is inefficiency in the field of application. Even if the theory is correct, it is not materialized due to inexperience or other defects.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The second situation is where hypocrisy is not at work, but what is at work is theoretical psychology. The people [involved], while making principles, are utterly oblivious of the realities of the world. They are wanderers in a vacuum, having no touch with the hard realities of the surface of the earth. Such theories shine like lighted moths for a moment and then are lost forever.”
“In India, for instance, such a theory is Gaotamiiya Nyáya Darshan. (This is not to be confused with the logic of Kanada.) The logic of Gaotamiiya Nyáya is purely imaginary. Such a theory cannot result in a practical cult.”
“Great logicians were born in the world in the past. Many in India wasted [valuable time discussing] whether oil in a pot should really be called “a pot with oil as its base” or “oil with a pot as its base”.”
“In Pathan India and the first portion of Mughal India there were big scholars versed in such logic. They were great intellectuals, but could not mould the life of the people with their theories. The intellectual life of the country [became] obsessed with these differing logics and there was no progress.”
“Pure logicians have another noticeable defect. They do not recognize that life is trifarious, that is, physical, intellectual and spiritual. They only emphasize the intellectual side and ignore the physical and spiritual aspects. As such they lack the [will] to put their theories into practice. They make no efforts in that direction.” (2)

Lowliest of the low

Ananda Marga scripture says, ”People often hold Parama Purusa responsible for calamities that befall them, but in fact they alone are responsible, as the suffering of fate is only reaction of their own previous actions. How can Parama Purusa be responsible? Human beings themselves are answerable for their fate as it is their actions alone which create it. They alone will have to bear the consequences of all their actions. No one else can substitute for them. Their good deeds beget good result, while bad ones beget bad results, and they will have to experience both without exception. This is the law of Prakrti and no one can change this law.” (1)

This topic is very hard for some people to understand - indeed it seems it is almost impossible for them to grasp. In their mind, they cannot think that they should not blame Parama Purusa - i.e. they cannot think that Parama Purusa does not give tests to harass His devotees.

I know one wt who lost his faith in his Guru and he was blaming that “Guru is the cause, my Guru polluted my mind.” I was shocked to hear this.

Those who know a little about Ananda Marga philosophy know that one must face the consequences of their bad deeds and these bad deeds bring about all kinds of suffering in their lives. And the cause of suffering is not other than they themselves, but due to their ignorance, they blame their friends, their neighbors, and ultimately Guru and God for their suffering. But the fact is they themselves are the culprits, as they are the one’s who are guilty of committing the sin. So this is the irony. But those who are 3rd class devotees never realise.

Some, as the wt indicated above, went to such an extent that they wrote an entire book blaming Parama Purusa for “giving tests and misdirecting my mind and in result I committed wrongs and sins.” Those who blame Parama Purusa in this way, unfortunately suffer from dry sadhana.

Two reasons for advent of Taraka Brahma

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Now why does He come in contact with the quinquelemental factors? Why does He come within the jurisdictions of the temporal-spatial-personal factors, these three fundamentally-related factors?  What's the cause? There are two reasons. One thing is, the human intellect may get satisfaction after coming in psychic contact with the Impersonal Entity, but the human heart is not satisfied with that Impersonal Entity. The human heart wants something closer, something more sentimental, something more pleasing. And that's why just to satisfy, just to give pleasure to, His progeny, He comes within the scope of these relative factors. Parama Purus'a becomes Táraka Brahma. And the second reason is that in this created world, in this universe, each and every progress is a progress through clashes and cohesion. And human beings must have sufficient intellectual stamina to move forward, fighting against all those pebbles of obstacles. When the human intellect fails to do something new in helping society to move forward, Parama Purus'a finds no alternative but to bring Himself within the scope of the temporal-spatial-personal factors just to guide the depraved and degenerate human society." (1)

Note: In the above guideline, there are two distinct points. According to Ananda Marga philosophy, firstly, Parama Purusa comes as Taraka Brahma to satisfy the longing of His bhaktas who yearn to have a personal relationship with the Supreme Entity. Secondly, Parama Purusa has come as Taraka Brahma to wipe away the existing dogmas and hurdles and give the guidelines to build up a bright, new human society.

When Parama Purusa remains as an impersonal Entity then the heart of the bhakta does not get satisfied. And when He comes in human form and teaches and guides the way to reach to Him, then He teaches sadhana also. And with that support, bhaktas reach Him.

The process of dhyana can link from form to formlessness. That is why the culmination of dhyana is the merging into formlessness - dissolving the mind.

Bhaktas always feel that Baba is residing in their heart. We see that across the history of mysticism, each and every bhakta in the world feels that the Parama Purusa is with them. Bhaktas feel that Baba is living in their heart.

Unique portrait of Rg veda

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Although the Rgveda is mainly concerned with hymns, it also contains various tales and anecdotes. While not all of these stories and tales carry equal spiritual value, they are representative of the cultural heritage of those ancient humans. They paint a portrait of the gradual advancement of human thinking and the structure of society. When considered from this point of view, the language, literature and expression of the Rgveda is of special value to the world." (1)

Ananda Marga ideology states, “We can roughly say that civilization first started sprouting after the prehistoric age of the human race, that is, from the days of the first composition of the Rk Veda, about  15,000 years ago. A major change took place during the days of Lord Shiva towards the end of the Rk Vedian period (which lasted 10,000 years).  (2)

Brahmacarya and conjugal relations

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The attraction towards earthly things born out of lust (káma) and attachment (moha) makes conjugal relations a necessity. Intuitional practice helps one to overcome this need. One becomes indifferent to it. So the question of giving it up for intuitional practice does not arise. It was said earlier that sádhaná is waging war against Prakrti and defeating Her. The force of intuitional practice is certainly greater than the strength of Prakrti, and by means of it one can attain Brahmacarya.” (1)
