Dos & don'ts: Mourning + 2 more

Baba

Dos & don'ts: Mourning

Namaskar,

As we all know, the various ceremonies given by Sadguru Baba in Caryacarya are to be performed in a certain way to preserve the sanctity of the function and prevent dogma from entering. One key point about the shraddha ceremony is that a photo of the deceased should not be on display during this shraddha function. And here is why.

As we know, Sadguru Baba’s teachings of Ananda Marga ideology offer perfect guidance in every sphere of life - in every circumstance. The tenets of Ananda Marga ideology are for the welfare of all. To ease the suffering of the grieving family, the Ananda Marga shraddha (death) ceremony does not support the idea of having the deceased’s photo on display.

True neo-humanists always try to remove people’s suffering

The grieving family is already suffering the pain of their loss. And this is really the key point. Ideal Ananda Margiis are sadhus and aim to reduce the pain and suffering of others. True neo-humanists always try to remove people’s suffering. Yet, seeing the photo of their departed loved one, those in mourning will more acutely feel the pain of their loss. In that case, displaying the photo of the deceased runs counter to the aims and goal of the Ananda Marga shraddha ceremony. Because that ceremony is only for bringing a sense of closure to those in mourning.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya guides us, “The departed soul does not get any advantage from the shráddha ceremony [memorial ceremony]. It is only meant for the psychic satisfaction of the person performing it.” (1)

Neo-humanists will always work to uphold the ideals and tenets of tantra shastra. They will not do anything which rekindles the memory of the deceased by displaying the photo, telling a story, or delivering a eulogy etc. Because no sadhu-minded person wishes to cause pain to others. So they will not introduce elements - such as a photo of the deceased - into our Ananda Marga shraddha ceremony as that will make matters worse for the grief-stricken family. When people come and see the photo and talk about the deceased then the grieving family will again fall into despair.

We should not exacerbate the the suffering of those in mourning

So the deceased’s photo should not be on display nor should anyone deliver a eulogy of the deceased on the occasion of their shraddha ceremony. Otherwise one is exacerbating the situation and multiplying the suffering of those in mourning. The grief-stricken family can only overcome their misery when the mind is diverted to Parama Purusa. And having the photo present undermines this endeavour. So devotees will never remind the suffering family of that raw wound by displaying the photo of the deceased during the shraddha ceremony - as that would undermine the welfare of the grieving family.

In Him,
Yogendra

Important to discuss ahead of time with loved ones

The following points are all related with why the deceased's photo should not be put on display and how to raise awareness with others on this matter.

1. First and foremost, it is very important to educate everyone beforehand about Baba's guideline. The concerned family and their relatives people should know ahead of time. Raising the matter the day of the shraddha ceremony or at the ceremony itself is bound to create a lot of emotional angst and turmoil. So the earlier this conversation can happen the better. The main thing is that awareness and pracara must be raised ahead of time.

2. Bear in mind that Baba made the rule for all-round welfare of those in mourning so no one should feel shy in educating others about this policy.

3. Remember, this is no different from other dogmas faced and overcome in the past liken caste marriage, dowry, and multi-deity puja worship etc. Similarly, as people are made aware of the drawbacks and defects of having a photo of the deceased on display at the shraddha ceremony, this dogma will also fade.

4. Overall, there are various levels of margiis, and those who are pashvacariis are not going to be able to follow everything perfectly. Whereas, those who are divyacariis will follow. Ultimately, true margiis will adhere to this guideline.

Garlanding the deceased’s photo is against AM ideals

Offering a garland to the deceased’s photo at the shraddha ceremony goes directly contrary to Ananda Marga teachings.

    Tadekaḿ japámas tadekaḿ smarámas
    Tadekaḿ jagatsákśiirúpaḿ namámah;
    Tadekaḿ nidhánaḿ nirálambamiishaḿ
    Bhavámbodhipotaḿ sharańaḿ vrajámah.

[I will remember You only. I will contemplate on You only. I will salute You only, the Witnessing Entity of this expressed universe. You are the supreme shelter, but you require no shelter, and no authority lords over you. We take shelter in You in the form of a ship sailing on this vast universe.]

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “If anyone's name is to be chanted in japa, it is the name of Parama Puruśa.” What is japa? A word has a particular meaning; repeating the word inwardly again and again, after having understood its meaning, is what is termed japa. As a result of the prolonged repetition of a word, whose inner meaning is clearly understood, its ideation becomes permanently imprinted on one's mind, and consequently there occurs a radical change in one's mental arena. The extroversial tendencies of the mind gradually become introverted. This is the benefit of japa. And if anyone's name is to be repeated, it is the name of the Lord.” (2)

Unholy alliance: capitalism & the priesthood

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In ancient times powerful rájas and mahárájas used to perform yajiṋas or sacrifices to declare that they were heroes, but this was also a form of exploitation. They erected many temples to hide their ill-deeds, not out of devotional spirit. There was an unholy alliance between physical exploiters and intellectual exploiters. Intellectuals have praised these rájas and mahárájas in all ages. Another form of exploitation is the priesthood. Capitalism will never go against the priesthood nor will priests go against capitalism. In order to create inferiority complexes in the minds of the people, intellectuals have composed many stories and myths. These stories are illogical and concocted to exploit the sentiments of the common mass. One glaring instance is the following verse composed by satanic opportunists.”

    Bráhmańásya mukhamásiit váhurájano’bhavat
    Madhya tadasya yad vaeshyahpadbhyaḿ shudrojáyata.

“Brahmins came out of the mouth, Kśatriyas were born out of the arms,
Vaeshyas came out of the trunk of the body, and Shúdras were born out of the legs.”

“In the capitalist structure, industry or production is governed by the profit motive, but in the Proutistic structure production will be governed by the motive of consumption.” (1)

Animal cruelty in H group DMS - 2

Baba

Animal cruelty in H group DMS - 2

Namaskar,
Here following is the example of one emaciated and hungry elephant who is coerced to garland Purodha Pramukha at one DMS. And this is not an isolated case. As far as possible, wherever PP Dada goes his stooges do this. This is against neo-humanism. It is shameful that the flagbearers of AMPS are doing the opposite of what Ananda Marga ideology says.

Here above is the example of one emaciated and hungry elephant who is coerced to garland Purodha Pramukha at one DMS. And this same elephant is described in detail here below. Please go on reading.

These days in certain parts of the globe it is big-business to trap large-game animals in the wild and bring them to the city for the entertainment industry such as the circus, tourist rides etc. Also in India, big-game animals are exploited and displayed at political receptions, processions, marriage parties, etc. By these dealings, animals are tortured and forced to lived in a cage in town.

It is so sad to see these wild animals - who wish to live in their natural habitat - caged, chained, and forced to live out their days in this confined manner. This type of animal cruelty goes on unchecked. It is sad and disgraceful that we are unable to open the eyes of the general public about such animal cruelty. Due to our own poor example, we have been unable to propagate neo-humanism to the people. The worst part is that so-called avadhutas promote themselves as the flagbearers of Ananda Marga ideology and neo-humanism but they indulge in animal cruelty also. The recent case of elephant exploitation is one of the examples. And this is not something that is going on hidden under the covers. H group propagated this below photo in their own newsletter and in the public newspapers also. Those DMS organisers are projecting to the whole world that it is ok to treat animals in this way. This is the misguided and hypocritical message given by our Dadas. This whole scene unfolded at Samastipur DMS in Bihar India.

Case of animal torture & coerced starvation

Take a look and see the elephant brought by our Dadas for the recent DMS.

#1: The DMS organisers have brought an elephant on-site - in the middle of town; obviously it is completely unnatural for that elephant to remain in the city. But out of their desire to add pomp and show to the occasion of Samastipur DMS, our Dadas did this.

#2: Now take a look at the elephant which they have brought onto the scene. See how the elephant is completely emaciated. The two red arrows point to huge divots in the elephant’s head, on either side of the eyes. That type of extreme hollowness in the skull shows how malnourished and food deprived the elephant is. Due to starvation, it has developed huge cavities in its head whereby the bones protrude in a sickly manner. It is a case of animal torture. Really it is quite shocking to see. Yet, those Dadas are forcing that poor, wild animal to starve and live in the dirty, dusty city for their own DMS procession.

#3: Once again, if you did not read this already up above, take a look at the elephant which they have brought onto the scene. Yet, those Dadas are forcing that poor, wild animal to starve and live in the dirty, dusty city for their own DMS parade.

#4: Sadly, this is a clear-cut case of animal cruelty. This callous mistreatment is quite disgraceful and has to be opposed on the point of neo-humanism.

#5: As Ananda Margiis, we cannot remain silent. Sadguru Baba has given us the duty to care for animals and plants also.

#6: Where animal cruelty goes on - we have to raise the voice of neo-humanism and oppose such ghastly mistreatment of these animals.

Cruelty against elephant

As disciples of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti, the Propounder of neo-humanism, we have to raise the voice against such type of cruelty and mistreatment. How long will we keep quiet in the face of this horrible exploitation of these grand creatures who are members of our vast universal family. It is disgraceful how these animals are forced to live a tortured life.

In Him,
Dya’nidhi

~ In-depth study ~

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Human beings are more cruel than vultures. Their hearts don’t melt even at the sight of tears of innocent birds and animals. Just to gratify their sense of greed, they mercilessly slit the throats of animals with sharp knives and swords and thus deprive them of the right to live.” (1)

Why India + 3 more

Baba

Why India

Namaskar,
Every so often some wonder why Baba started Ananda Marga in India and why He established our headquarters also in India. Following are points for all to consider.

As we know, to do anything in this world a proper environment is needed, i.e. a place that is conducive. The conditions should be most suitable for the success of that project. For instance, if you plant a tree in a desert then that seedling will never grow. Rather, it will die a premature death, never even making it through the early stages of life. In contrast, if that same seedling is planted in a region that experiences regular rains and appropriate temperatures, that tree will become very healthy and strong, and reach full maturity.

The central idea is that each and every thing in this universe is dependent upon a place or region that is most suitable for its progress. And this theorem applies to our Ananda Marga as well.

Before delving deeper into this topic we should first remind ourselves what Ananda Marga is. And then we can best understand why Baba started Ananda Marga in India and established the headquarters (HQ) there. Baba is the Dharma Guru and His Ananda Marga ideology is the essence of dharma contains all the guidelines for tantric life. So the offices of Ananda Marga should be placed in a region that will support dharmic principles and the proper growth of Ananda Marga.

The prana dharma of India

Each and every land has its own unique characteristics and specialties, or pra’n’a dharma.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “When the national characteristics are expressed in a particular vein, we may call it the pra’n’a dharma of the nation.” (1)

And here below Baba describes the pra’n’a dharma of India.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “The thoughts and ideals of India are quite different from the other countries…Since ancient times, India has been adhering to her distinct pra’n’a dharma. Regarding life and the world, the Indian people are certainly spiritually inclined. They look upon each and every thought and deed as part of their spiritual practice.” (2)

So India was the one country where the overall flow of life is based on spirituality and the mass of people have incorporated this outlook into their very way of living. And the residue of that tantric approach remained for some time. We must bear in mind that Baba is referring to that period of time in India before the mass import of materialism and pseudo-culture. We all have to consider how far this is still relevant today.

Age 5 to 25 received extensive training in spiritual knowledge

Here below Baba explains more about the traditional way of life in India.

Ananda Marga philosophy says. “The reason is that in ancient India, children studied from the age of five till the age of twenty-five. They lived virtuous, disciplined and holy lives and received extensive training in spiritual knowledge as well as some degree of mundane knowledge. At the conclusion of their student careers, they returned home to adopt the life of householders. As householders they continued to cultivate both spiritual knowledge (para’) and mundane knowledge (apara’). When they reached the age of fifty, having met all their family commitments, they would adopt the life of a Vanaprastha and retire to a forest to concentrate on the cultivation of spiritual knowledge.” (3)

By His above description it is clear how for generations and generations the entire mode of living in India was geared towards spiritual thought. Each and every aspect of Indian life was based on spirituality. That was the long ongoing history and may not apply to these ultra-modern times in India’s major cities that has been so affected by materialism etc.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “All aspects of Indian life were based on spirituality. This subjective approach to life became the Pra’n’a Dharma of Indians.” (4)

So by His above teachings it is clear that the land of India had a special link with the sublime ideals of spirituality. And the remnants of that continued for some time. Baba discusses this at length in His discourse ‘Spirituality & India’ (i.e. Bha’ratvars’a aor A’dhya’tmikata’) from AV-28 chapter 20 Hindi edition. In this discourse, Ananda Marga philosophy explains how over the centuries, those dharmikas interested in spirituality traveled to India to learn more and advance their practice. Because India was a mecca of spiritual thought and eruditio, i.e. a land of great sages and sadhakas. India attracted countless earnest seekers who wanted spiritual attainment and liberation.

India was conducive and overseas margiis came

It is no different from how in the second-half of the 20th century and opening portion of the 21st century, those looking for training in material science went to the USA and Europe to study. Because in the US and Europe there was funding, facilities, universities, and corporations keen in this domain. Students and professionals from around the globe made their way to those areas to advance their careers. Same was the case with India in the realm of spirituality.

So in this discourse – ‘Spirituality & India’ AV-28 (H) – we must bear in mind that Baba is referring to that period of time in India before the mass import of materialism and pseudo-culture. We all have to consider how far this is still relevant today. And when Baba was first forming Ananda Marga, then certainly this was the case: The prana dharma of India was spirituality.

When the mass of people in India are inclined towards spiritual ideals then it only makes sense our HQ should was first established in India. That is not to say that Indian margiis are more spiritual than overseas margiis. Rather, overseas margiis have a very special samskara because even though they grew up in materialistic areas still they did not get lured in that direction but were attracted to the divine ideals of Ananda Marga. That itself is a special characteristic.

Walking down the street with human skulls

At the same time it has to be recognised that the general mass of people in India were far more aware in the ways of tantra than other countries around the globe. That is why if one of our avadhutas was walking down the street with human skulls in a bag then the people had reverence for him, thinking him to be a great tantric and a well-wisher of humanity. And still that residue remains in some parts of India today.

In contrast, if anyone is caught moving around with skulls, in most overseas countries then they will either be arrested or questioned by the police. The people there will think that our avadhuta is a threat to society. Reason being those local citizens and officials have no inherent appreciation for the dharmic ways of tantra. Verily, there are thousands and thousands of examples of how the people in India will naturally support so many of the tantric ideals and tenets of Ananda Marga. In that case Ananda Marga has a conducive environment in which to exist and grow, and will not be under attack each and every minute, or rejected outrightly.

Even though the land of India is not without its clashes and challenges – both past and present – still it has to be recognised that in the years when Baba was forming Ananda Marga India was the place best suited for the successful build-up of the mission.

Conclusion

Lord Shiva is the Father of tantra. The land of India was imbibed with that vibration for centuries and centuries right up through the 20th century. In some places it had waned and some less so. Yet, in comparison to the rest of the world, India remained a fertile ground for the propagation of Ananda Marga ideals. As we know, in the 1960’s and 1970, even entire villages and all their distant relations were initiated into Ananda Marga sadhana. The long history of tantra remained alive in certain parts of India and was embraced by those inhabitants. So it was the most appropriate place to found an organisation (AMPS) for the spreading of Ananda Marga ideology.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Vidya’ Ma’ya’

By Baba’s grace the day is fast arriving where the sublime ideals of Ananda Marga will touch each and every human heart.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Remember, everyone is entitled to sa’dhana’. For this, nothing neither pedigree, education, knowledge nor any asset, is necessary except only two things – implicit faith and sincerity. Arouse these two things through your will-power and victory is yours, it must come." (5)

Which four root languages mapped most of the globe

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "When a swift horse runs its hooves make a turtur sound. That which makes a turtur sound as it moves is called turaga or turaunga or turaungama (that is, "horse"). That animal which makes a kurkur sound as it runs is called kuraga or kuraunga or kuraungama (that is, "deer"). In this way human beings have created many word forms and verb forms to express their mental ideas. This process of word formation is called "acoustic derivation" and the original verbal roots in all the world's languages were created in this way."

"The first word forms in all the world's languages were the original verbal roots. By adding prefixes and suffixes many different words were derived. Among the established languages of the world, mainly four can be considered as the root languages. They are Vedic, Latin, Hebrew and old Chinese. If one examines the derivation of the vocabulary of these languages one will find that their method or process is identical. (1)

Here Baba is explaining that these 4 languages (Vedic, Latin, Hebrew and old Chinese) are root languages. The words and vocabulary of these languages are based on the natural sounds those inhabitants heard, such as when a horse runs. In that way those early people created root verbs.  Time passed; daughter and granddaughter languages were formed. And those languages were built upon the root verbs of those four original root languages.

For example, Sanskrit / Samskrta came from the Vedic language and from Sanskrit / Samskrta so many Indian languages were created: Hindi, Bengali, Gujurati, Malayalam and all the Indo-Aryan languages. They are all based on Sanskrit / Samskrta and follow the same root verb from the original Vedic. This is also happened with Latin, Hebrew and Old Chinese. So many languages were formed upon the root verbs of these 3 other root languages, just as happened with Vedic.

Don't Blame Parama Purusa, He Is Not Giving Test,

Obstacles Are Not Created By The Great Preceptor Sadguru

"Sádhaná is the effort to free oneself from the qualifying influence of Prakrti. Avidyámáyá is also a quality, and that too has to be renounced. If a tenant has been occupying a house for a very long time it will be extremely difficult to suddenly evict him by force, particularly if he has been treated as a respectable tenant for a long time. He will never leave the house willingly and will place all sorts of obstacles in your path. You will have to fight against all his manoeuvres, and only when you have completely defeated him will the bully allow you to enter the house. Similarly, as one has been at the mercy of Avidyámáyá for many lives, it will not leave easily when one starts intuitional practice. Like the bullying tenant, Avidyámáyá will throw all possible obstacles across one’s path when one tries to destroy its influence. Sádhaná or intuitional practice as taught by a great preceptor is the way to remove Avidyámáyá. Only success in sádhaná can make Avidyámáyá loosen its hold. So the beginning of true sádhaná is marked by great resistance from Avidyámáyá, which, through the obstacles it creates, tries to compel one to give up sádhaná. In its attempts to subdue Avidyámáyá, sádhaná will naturally meet resistance from the evil force of Avidyámáyá. Obstacles in sádhaná (intuitional practices) should be regarded as an indication of one’s success in one’s attempt to remove Avidyámáyá. Obstacles are not created by God or the great preceptor (sadguru), as they wish every one of the units to become emancipated like themselves. They are created by Prakrti, against whom one is waging war. If one is to win, Prakrti has to be defeated with the weapon of sádhaná, against which Avidyámáyá defends itself by placing obstacles in one’s way. Obstacles in sádhaná should be regarded as good signs, indicating that the influence of Avidyámáyá is beginning to wane." (AMEP, Intuitional Practice and Its Necessity)

Four kinds of nooses + 3 more

Baba

Be aware of four kinds of nooses, i.e. attachments

Namaskar

#1: Attachment to the motherland: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “This propensity of blind attachment is usually divided into the four categories of time, space, idea and individuality. When one loses one’s rationality out of blind attachment for one’s country, it is called deshagata moha, “geo-sentiment”. People who live in a country where not even a blade of grass grows, where people die of starvation, and which imports huge quantities of food grains from other countries, become so infatuated with their country that they say it has an abundance of water, has a bountiful fruit harvest, and is a net exporter of food to other countries.” (1)

Note: The attachment to one’s motherland is quite common and that is called geo-sentiment in neo-humanism. Because of geo-sentiment one country exploits another and there is a war. Genghis Khan of Mongolia plundered and looted a lot of wealth from India and murdered thousands of innocent people. He would invade India and then return with the bounty for his homeland. This is an example of geo-sentiment, also known as patriotism. Those who are uneducated people think that patriotism is great, unfortunately. This is attachment for one’s local land.

#2: Attachment to a particular time: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Kálagata moha is blind attachment for a particular period of time. One becomes so attached to a certain period of time that one is unable to discern its positive or negative aspects. Some people complain that the behaviour of the present generation of children is disappointing. They say that when they were young they could easily digest iron pans, but the present generation has trouble digesting even water! They lament the great misfortune that has befallen the present age.” (1)

Note: For example,
(a) jihadii terrorists want to live according to the era of 1500 years ago.
(b) Trump supporters of the United States want to go back to the 1950's and the era of Jim Crow laws.
(c) And Hindu fundamentalists want to go back three, four, or five thousand years. Those primitive people thought that God is in heaven. So they were in a fix a about what to do. They wanted to offer Him something to please Him but did not know how to send it to Him. Ultimately, they calculated that since smoke rises then smoke is the medium to send something to God. So they put their most valuable items into the fire of yajina thinking that it is going to God. But this idea is completely misguided in this present modern age and advancement of science. But still hundreds of millions of fundamentalist Hindus participate. This is an example of blind attachment to the past.

#3: Attachment to a particular theory: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “When a particular idea has a strong impact on mind, the mind rushes towards it again and again. Thieves, in the shock of the moment, always make a quick getaway from the scene of the crime. Later, however, they brood repeatedly about the place, and often return, straight into the hands of the police!” (1)

Note: here is an example of this such disgraced theory of casteism, misguided theory of racism, disastrous idea of communism, dangerous ideas of religious fanaticism. The speciality of all these ailments is that all those who are blindly attached to one or more of these theories then it is very hard to convince them. Because the attachment instinct is so strong. Under pressure of external circumstances, and life and death situation, they somehow compromise but they never leave. Convincing them internally is very difficult due to their attachment. In theory, the Klu Klux Klan was banned ages ago but in practice there are still millions of Klu Klux Klan fanatics,

#4: Attachment to particular material objects: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “A person who uses an object for a long time develops a fascination for that object. This is called ádháragata moha [fascination for an object]. There are many rich people who have a strange weakness for some old, battered object such as a rickety chair with one arm broken off. I know a story about how a pretty pot made of bell-metal was the cause of a bitter quarrel among the daughters-in-law of a certain family, so bitter that it led to the eventual break-up of the family.” (1)

Note: This is very common. People do not want to give up their old things. Even if if is useless and lost its value, still they do not want to let go of those items. When something is useful and you are keeping that item then that is fine. But if something has lost its utility and is harmful, even then people do not want to part with that item. That is called blind attachment to some mundane thing.

Conclusion: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The only way to free oneself from the clutches of infatuation is to superimpose the ideation of indifference and divert one’s mental thoughts towards Parama Puruśa. It may be possible to control this propensity of wild fascination temporarily by intimidation or by enacting laws, but only temporarily. Those who believe in the equal distribution of the world’s wealth, naively underestimate the power of moha vrtti. The human mind can be sublimated only by spiritual ideation, not by any high-sounding philosophy. This utopian idea has proved ineffective in the past and in the present and will continue to prove so in the future.” (1)

Note: One should remember that attachment and love are two different things. Attachment is always irrational and whatever the mind is attached with it favours that over others and that leads to injustice. Political leaders are attached to their party and cover up the nefarious deeds and save those wrongdoers and for the opposing party they make a mountain from nothing. You are loving your child but it does not mean that you are going to do injustice with other children and give preference to your child. But if you have blind attachment then surely one will do like this.

in Him,
Raghava

US election & how sadvipra samaj will descend upon this earth

Prout philosophy states, “In capitalism or democracy the state is theoretically for the welfare of the majority, but in practice it is the rule of the minority of vaeshyas [capitalists, black marketers, economic cheats] Other groups of people are forced to become second grade citizens. The Proutistic social order follows the principle sarva jana hitáya – that is, PROUT is for the welfare of all. Nobody is suppressed or oppressed. PROUT supports the rule of sadvipras. Only sadvipras can guarantee the all-round welfare of all groups of people because sadvipras represent the interests of all classes in society.” (1)

Note: As you read in the above teaching of Prout philosophy, commonly people think that the democratic system is for the welfare of the majority. But Prout reveals the truth and explains how the ignorant public is befooled and coaxed into voting against their own interests and in favour of capitalists. And the blind public does just that. The recent US election is the glaring example how one con man and billionaire TV reality clown became the president of the United States. Those who supported him are ecstatic. They do not know that they just helped in digging their own grave. This is the way democracy works. Our duty is to propagate Prout philosophy so the public should know that this entire created world is the property of Parama Purusa and all created beings are their progeny. So no particular progeny has the right of ownership of immense wealth, while making others starve to death. As fast as we can propagate this idea, the sooner sadvipra samaj will descend upon this earth.

Different era, different values + 3 more

Baba

Different era, different values

Namaskar,
These days money supersedes all values and do’s and don’ts of life. For money one can do anything. One’s social status is determined by money, i.e. bank account. Morality, kindheartedness, service, and magnanimity of mind are all expendable in the face of money. No matter how much sadhana, service, and sacrifice one does, and no matter the degree of one’s good conduct, that is all meaningless, if a person does not have money. In contrast, if one has money, no matter how notorious that person is, they will be honoured as great and respected. On the whole, people think this value system is normal and that it will be this way forever, and that it was like this in the past also.

The idea expressed in the above paragraph is the feeling of those who have never read or studied human history. Actually, each era has their own distinct set of values. Today money is everything and tomorrow it will be nothing. Rather those with huge money will be treated as lowly exploiters. To see how this happens, please continue reading.

“Might is right” to the power of intellect

For instance, in the ksatriyan era, the warrior class was in power. Those warriors and trained fighters held all the prestige in society. In that era, army commanders, generals, and those skilled in martial techniques were the most powerful. The slogan of the day was, “Might is right.” And everyone wanted to be viewed as a great fighter because that skill was accepted and respected as the loftiest attainment. The common people were eager to adopt the family names of famous warriors as a shortcut method towards gaining respect and social status. In hopes of being revered as a someone great, the ignorant masses wholly embraced the imposed propaganda about the glory of the ruling king.

Then, in the vipran age, the cunning intellectuals like mullahs and priests etc garnered the most prestige. They were the ruling class and deemed as the cream of society. The slogan of the day was, “Where there is intellect, there is victory.” In the vipran era, the cunning intellectuals held all the power and everyone bowed down to them. To garner respect people would put fake names, initials, and scholarly degrees by their name in order to be viewed as someone great.  And, in hopes of being revered, the ignorant masses embraced the imposed propaganda about the glory of the mullahs and priests etc. But ultimately that vipran age changed, giving way to a whole new era.

Money trumps everything

Now in this vaeshyan era, the wealthy are revered and the acquisition of material wealth is viewed as the top most quality of a human being. If a person has wealth, then they are great. That is the defining element of the vaeshyan era. So at present, in this vaeshyan era, everyone follows the ways and preachings of the capitalists. And the common people yearn and dream of becoming a top capitalists. In result, people want to show themselves as having more money than they have. Everything is done to display one’s wealth and present oneself as being wealthy. Because money is deemed as everything and the way to get respect. And, in hopes of being revered as a someone great, the ignorant masses embrace the imposed propaganda about the glory of the top capitalists, i.e. the billionaire class etc.

The overall point is that in this age of extreme capitalism, the great qualities of intellect, service, dedication, spirituality, kind-heartedness, and neo-humanistic feeling have zero value. Instead certain dogmas injected by capitalist exploiters have become the gold-standard. Money trumps everything. But take note, this too will change. A bright new era is looming on the eastern horizon.

Conclusion

According to the age, people run in a given direction in order to get respect and prestige. It is a type of sheep psychology and a mental ailment. Those who are ignorant drown themselves in the lure of a particular era. If it is the vaeshayan era, they do everything for money; in the vipran era, they aim for intellect; and in the ksatriyan era they want to gain physical might etc. So across the span of history, people become completely tainted with the disease of the ruling era for the chief purpose of gaining respect and honour. And when the era changes they will too will change. So if today people think money is everything, and tomorrow people think those with money are cheats, then the common people will change their tune. They are literally tools or beggars in any given era. They just get caught up in the transient aims of that era and the overall pettiness of life, and wholly forget the greater reason why they have been born on this earth.

So human values change from age to age. And when Mahasambhuti takes advent then a monumental shift occurs. This is known as the transitional period where all aspects of human life undergo a dramatic and revolutionary shift, including the social values. By His grace, the followers of Mahasambhuti help usher in this bright, new era of neo-humanism, and thereby establish sadvipra samaj.

In Him,
Pankaj

Ananda Vanii states, “Human history today has reached such a transitional phase that universal humanity, forgetting all spatial, temporal and personal differences, shall have to move, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder towards the new dawn with rapid steps. Humanity must respond to this call. With the reddish glow of the dawn, the collective body, mind and soul will be radiant with joy. And that alone will be the real progress of universal humanity, the firm establishment of unified humanism.” (Ananda Vanii #61)

Ananda Vanii states, “The night of cimmerian darkness is bound to disappear seeing the advent of the dawn. That which is ever-true, which is eternal, is destined to be illuminated with the rise of the crimson dawn. Be ready for the grand ovation to that new crimson dawn in every house. Be prepared physically and mentally, armed with the force of righteousness, for the auspicious moment of the enthronement of the ever-new. Be ready to respond to the supra-cosmic trumpet.” (Ananda Vanii #69)

Sadly I could not distinguish between shreya and preya

"Tomáre cáhite giá bhúl kare, tava varadán ceyechinu..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0733)

Note: Only those who sincerely practice the higher lessons of sahaja yoga meditation can understand this song in the depths of their heart.

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, when I reached to Your doorstep to have Your darshan then, but due to my foolishness, I just asked You for some boons. So I could not get You. This was my mistake. I asked something from You, and did not ask for You Yourself. It is akin to if I wanted to have the vast ocean but by my own blunder I just got one small drop of saline water.

Baba, that time I did not understand the difference between matter and Parama Purusa. I could not distinguish between what is shreya and what is preya. Due to my ignorance, I was thinking that the intelligent approach was to get fruit from the tree, and not try to get the tree itself. But now I understand it would have been far better to have gotten the tree, because it is the tree that produces all the fruit.

* Note for 2nd stanza: The basic idea is that the sadhaka feels repentance for not giving importance to spirituality. Rather he thought that he could gain eternal peace by accumulating a lot of wealth. He thought that by offering large donations to the religious priests he could get the blessings of the great sages, accumulate virtue, and reserve a place in heaven. With that confusion, the sadhaka figured, “There is no need for me to concern myself with the Sixteen points, penance, sadhana, and following the various conduct rules and regulations. By visiting tiirthas like Ananda Nagar & Tiljala, and getting the blessing of monks, I can achieve everything. So there is no need of doing any penance.” That is the faulty frame of mind of some sadhakas. So here the poet is using the analogy of the fruit tree to represent all those righteous practices. But in today’s social milieu, the common folks wrongly think that with money you can get everything. That is what is depicted in the second stanza.

Baba, whatever worldly blessings You bestowed upon me with Your left hand, due to Your liila, in the course of time with Your right hand You took back all those boons. So in the end, I was just a beggar and unsatisfied. On the one side You gave me worldly attributions and on the other side I lost my peace and tranquility. The root cause is that these worldly things are not permanent. Today they are, and tomorrow they are not. So whatever worldly things You gave, in due course those things decayed and went away. After all these losses and gains, the final outcome is nil - zero. O’ Parama Purusa, by Your grace today I hear Your flute playing this eternal message: “O’ bhakta, remember, I am always with you, caring for you, watching over you, providing whatever is necessary, and ensuring your welfare. So you need not ask for anything.”

Baba, by Your grace, today I realise I should never ask anything mundane thing from Parama Purusa. Whatever I need You bestow upon me. Rather I utilize time in singing Your name...

How to characterize fake bhaktas

False devotees think about themselves whereas true devotees think about God and want to serve Him. By this approach life becomes meaningful and they reach to the Goal; otherwise, they are just fake devotees who take birth and die again and again, suffering in this transitory world.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "True devotees can think only of Parama Puruśa – their every action is to please Parama Puruśa. For them, there is only sádhaná and selfless service to the universe – and because selfless service is to please the Lord, that also helps sádhaná. Tapah [selfless service] is part of sádhaná. True devotees are unable to think of right and wrong, but because they wish only to please Parama Puruśa, they can only do good, all their actions will be benevolent. So you are not just to worry about right and wrong, about dos and don'ts – you are to develop that true devotion for Parama Puruśa...But of course, until you develop such devotion, you must distinguish what to do from what not." Scientific study on fasting + 4 more

Baba

Scientific study on fasting

Namaskar,
Fasting has long been a practice advocated by yogis. As the Sadguru, Baba has specially given the most ideal system of fasting. This practice of fasting gives us innumerable benefits. In a phrase, it allows the body to repair itself and that is why we always feel better after fasting. Now the scientific research community is finding evidence that corroborates our viewpoint. Modern day scientists are discovering how the fasting process cleanses, purges, and rejuvenates the physical body. It actually counteracts the aging process by enabling the cells to repair and purify damaged cells. Please read below.

Here following are two articles:

#1: How fasting increases longevity
by cleaning and repairing damages cells

"mTOR Theory: mTOR, a protein that inhibits autophagy has been linked to aging through the Insulin signaling pathway. It has been found, in various model species, that caloric restriction leads to longer lifespans, and it is thought that mTOR is the reason why. mTOR functions through nutrient and growth cues leading scientists to believe that dietary restriction and mTOR are related in terms of longevity. When organisms restrict their diet their mTOR’s activity is reduced which allows for more autophagy, or cell self-eating, to occur.”

“Autophagy is a cell’s way to clean house and recycle old or damaged cell parts, and keep the cells and the body running efficiently. When cells self-eat or clean up their damaged or old parts often, your body is healthier and functions properly which increases ones longevity and decreases the chances of being obese. This is thought to be because people can metabolize glucose better, never allowing glucose to spike in blood concentration. Since there is less glucose entering the body there will be less Insulin signaling occurs. This has been linked to less mTOR activation as well.”

“Therefore longevity has been connected to caloric restriction and insulin sensitivity inhibiting mTOR, which in turns allows autophagy to occur more frequently. Since autophagy cleans cells of damaged proteins and cell parts it may be that mTOR inhibition and autophagy reduces the effects of Reactive Oxygen Species on the body, which damaged DNA and other organic material. Since Autophagy recycles damaged or old parts of cells reactive oxygen species damage would be reduced and recycled to make functioning cells, and longevity would be increased."

Limiting caloric intake means living longer

"In 2007, researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies identified a critical gene in nematode worms that specifically links eating fewer calories with living longer. Professor Andrew Dillin and colleagues showed that the gene pha-4 regulates the longevity response to calorie restriction.”

“mTOR inhibition and the frequent activation of autophagy has been shown to increase longevity in model organisms such as yeast, flies, and mice. mTor inhibition and autophagy have also been linked to insulin sensitivity and the reduction of reactive oxygen species damage, which is another major proposed cause to aging. It has become clear that autophagy activation in the body by mTOR inhibition increases longevity. mTOR inhibition reduces Reactive Oxygen Species damage by activating autophagy, which will recycle the damaged parts of cells and re use them for functioning parts.”

“This process reduces ROS damage to a reasonable amount, therefore increasing longevity. mTOR inhibition has also been linked to other major aging diseases. mTOR inhibition has helped treat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s in mice. It has also been used to reduce tumor growth in several cancers including renal, breast, and several other rare cancers. Finally mTOR inhibition is also linked to reducing obesity and increasing immune function. The mTOR inhibition reduces the likelihood of diet induced and age induced obesity in mice, but in some cases led to glucose intolerance. Caloric restriction and exercise are two ways to activate autophagy and inhibit mTOR which can help resolve all of these common age related health issues.”

“Decreased mTOR activity has been found to extend aging in S. cerevisiae, C. elegans, and D. melanogaster. The mTOR inhibitor rapamycin has been confirmed to increase lifespan in mice by independent groups at the Jackson Laboratory, University of Texas Health Science Center, and the University of Michigan."

Dietary regimes like fasting extends lifespan

"It is hypothesized that some dietary regimes, like caloric restriction and methionine restriction, cause lifespan extension by decreasing mTOR activity. But infusion of leucine into the rat brain has been shown to decrease food intake and body weight via activation of the mTOR pathway.”

“In a systems biology study by A. Kriete et al. 2010, effects of mTOR inhibition on aging are modeled: According to the free radical theory of aging, reactive oxygen species cause damage of mitochondrial proteins and decrease of ATP production. Subsequently, via ATP sensitive AMPK, the mTOR pathway is inhibited and ATP consuming protein synthesis is downregulated, since mTORC1 initiates a phosphorylation cascade activating the ribosome. Hence, the proportion of damaged proteins is enhanced. Moreover, disruption of mTORC1 directly inhibits mitochondrial respiration. These positive feedbacks on the aging process are counteracted by protective mechanisms: Decreased mTOR activity (among other factors) upregulates glycolysis and removal of dysfunctional cellular components via autophagy." (1)

#2: Life-extending effects of intermittent fasting

"It was the thoughts on the health and possibly life-extending effects of intermittent fasting in the last installment of this series that brought up the involvement of 5'-adenosine monophospate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in both the weight, or we should say, fat loss and possible life-extending and anti-cancer effects of (intermittent) fasting. Now, before we even delve into a more detailed discussion of its relation to its "antagonist", the mammalian target of rapamyacin (mTOR), it would appear prudent to begin today's 6th installment of the Intermittent Thoughts on Intermittent Fasting series with a brief review of AMPK's effect(s) on protein synthesis, adipose tissue metabolism and apoptosis.”

“We already know that both fasting and exercise trigger increases in AMPK enzyme expression, which in and out of itself acts as an intracellular sensor that registers elevated AMP/adenosie tri-phospate (ATP) and inorganic phospate(Pi)/phosphocreatine (PCr) ratios - in short, it registers when you are running out of fuel. It is thus obvious that the main function of AMPK within muscle cells is to maintain energy stores at homeostatic levels. In order to achieve that, the 5’-adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase enzyme upregulates catabolic processes and downregulates anabolic processes. The (entailing) overall effects the phosphorylation, i.e. the activation, of AMPK has on your metabolism are yet more complex than this dichotomous distinction would suggest - its tissue specific effects are illustrated in figure 2:"

Allows the body to rebuild, repair and recycle

"The fast (regardless of whether its background is a religious one or not) breaks the vicious cycle of chronic mTOR (over-)expression and allows the body to start necessary and beneficial catabolic breakdown processes to rebuild, repair and recycle what got damaged and patched together raggedly in the course of the "anabolic" phase. Now, just as even someone with the repair-skills of Bob the Builder ("I can fix it!"), would obviously - at some point - be unable to make up for the wear and tear the furnishings in his house are exposed to, the well oiled cellular repair-machinery of our bodies will also hit a wall, when all the debris is cleared and the excess energy that had been stored away in times of nutritional abundance is either running short or cannot be accessed fast enough to satisfy acute energy demands (specifically of the brain). Yet, while the latter would obviously be much more likely, when after the "magical" ~16h, after which the glucose stores in our livers begin to dwindle (cf. Intermittent Thoughts - Myth 2), the undesirable result of the energy shortage, i.e. catabolism, would always be the same.”

“Without the presence of a chronical overabundance of energy and the consequent over-expression of mTOR in the presence of readily available substrates for fatty acid synthethase, fat storage would however not be a concern. Moreover, if the AMPK-mTOR cycle is intact, the excess energy that is not used for protein synthesis, but stored during the anabolic phase, will come handy to fuel the repair processes when (during a "fast") AMPK takes the reign.”

“A chronic overexpression of AMPK and consequent catabolism of metablically active tissue (muscle and organ tissue) is unquestionable as undesirable as the fattening, cancer-promoting and life-shortening effects of chronic activation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)." (2)

Conclusion

The above scientific articles asserts that fasting enables the cells of the body to repair and cleanse themselves. This enables the body to gain a greater level of health. And this entire process slows the aging process thereby increasing longevity. And the trigger point for this entire equation is limiting or completely stopping one’s caloric intake.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Kalyansundaram

I preached sermons to others; while I myself never followed

"Áloker ei jharańá dháráy,snána kare tumi esecho..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0966)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, after bathing in the fountain of spiritual and divine effulgence, You have come. You are the Supreme Entity. O’ Lord, I was drowned in filth. I was completely caught in maya. You graciously lifted me up from the mud of maya, holding my hands. After cleaning me You loving placed me on Your divine lap.

About spiritual effulgence: Parama Purusa has no shape but in the language of philosophy it is expressed that He is the embodiment of spiritual effulgence. From time to time for the welfare of humanity and His creation He descends on this earth in human form as Mahasambhuti. So in the language of poetry, it is expressed that, O’ Mahasambhuti You have come after bathing in spiritual effulgence. You are blemishless, without any samskara. However You take Your samkalpa in that way You manifest Your liila in day to day life. Alternately, human beings are bound by their samskara, i.e. stains.

Baba, in my happiness, in my good days I remained forgetful of You. I did not do meditation or followed 16 Points. I only cried for Your help when I was caught in danger or in crises. In my days of happiness I enjoyed alone. But when I committed a mountain of sin then those sins I left at Your feet. I told all that the joy and credit of my attainments, of my victory, was due to my own hard labour. I bragged how I achieved everything due to my own efforts. Parama Purusa did nothing. And when I committed bad deeds and wallowed in sin, I told all that You were the cause. I said that You misdirected my mind. I blamed You for the mountain of my sins. I always remained puffed up with ego. I never surrendered at Your lotus feet. Even then You looked at me with so much love and affection. You love me so much.

O’ Parama Purusa Baba, I just sang of my own greatness, and remained busy in self-praise all the time. I never never thought of You. I always drifted in the crudity of selfishness. I didn’t do righteous, dharmic deeds. Just I taught and preached dharmic sermons to others; while I myself never followed those high ideals. But hypocritically I projected myself as a great bhakta before all to boost my image. Even then, You forgave my evil deeds and brought me to the path of righteousness, niiti, and dharma. Baba, You are so gracious...

== Section 3: Ananda Vanii ==

By your action, sadhana, & service

Original Ananda Vanii states: “It is action that makes a person great. Be great by your sádhaná, by your service, by your sacrifice.” (Ananda Vanii #20)

Everyone should render service to the world

In this following quote, here yajina means action

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Yajiṋa is performed to achieve emancipation from the consequences of action and to annihilate the Unit “I”. The fourfold services enumerated under Nr yajiṋa can be easily be performed by anyone. Every human being gets more or less opportunity for rendering services. If a poor man thinks that he cannot render Vaeshyocita type of service because he is devoid of money he is wrong. The charity of a few paise of the poor has the same value as a thousand rupees from a millionaire. Indeed the charity of these few paise is greater. Lord Krśńa attached greater importance to a handfuls of grains from Vidura than to the sumptuous royal dishes of Duryodhana. Even so, everyone should render service to the world in accordance with their capacity and work for the welfare of the living beings to the best of their ability. Perform viprocita type of service by projecting your convictions to others as best as you can. Let every person perform the four kinds of service as much as possible. Adhyátma yajiṋa is an internal yajiṋa and ultimately it terminates in Paramátman, the original self. Therefore, your Sádhaná should be with a detached sentiment. All types of Yajiṋa begin and proceed in an externalized manner, but ultimately they will reverse their course towards the inner self and will gratify your innermost entity on the jewelled throne attained by your birthright. Remember, no one yajiṋa is inferior to another." (1)

Note: Sadguru Baba has assigned a number to all His original and true Ananda Vaniis. In contrast, Fake Ananda Vaniis do not have any number. By this simple formula, one can easily recognise which is a true Ananda Vanii and which is fake. For the upcoming occasion of January 1st 2017, all Ananda Marga units should use one of Baba’s original and true Ananda Vaniis, not a fake one. By this way, one will surely get His blessing.

Why sin is irrelevant for us

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Another thing to bear in mind is that “sin” in the English language is not the pápa of Sanskrit. As already said, “sin” means to go against that prescribed in the Bible. But pápa is explained in the phrase Paropakárah puńyáya pápáya parapiid́anam – that is, “Any action by one individual which leads to the development of others is puńya [virtuous deeds], and any action which does the opposite is pápa.” (1)

Song of A-grade bhakta + 3 more

Baba

Song of A-grade bhakta

"Nayaneri ainjan ma'nasranjain tumi janame maran'e sa'thii mor..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1370)

Purport:

Note: Those who don't do 6th lesson sadhana, they can not understand this song.

O' Parama Purusa, You are so gracious. You are the ainjan (ointment of knowledge) of my eyes; You are Manasrainjan [1], the One who saturates my mind with bhakti; You are with me life after life, in birth and in death, always - up to eternity. O' Divine Entity, in the vast sky of my mind, in my mental horizon, Your attractive and charming form is vibrating and shining. Seeing Your exquisite beauty and supreme vibration, I have become completely captivated and wholly ensconced in You.

O' Parama Purusa, in  this expressed universe which  is situated in the mirror of Your maya. Everything is resonating in Your divine sound - nu'pura [2]. Please grace me, by looking towards me; please shower me in Your supreme compassion. O' Citta-cor / Chit-chor [3], O' Parama Purusa, You are captivating my mind in all the ways.

Baba, O' my adored one, I want You and You alone. I do not want anything from You. I only have one desire: Please grant me parabhakti [4] and keep me at Your lotus feet, always. I want to surrender my entire being unto You. O' Lord, please grace me and allow me to concentrate all my feelings and surrender my whole existence at Your feet. You are my Goal; You are my Ista. You are like the moon and I am the like the cakor / chakor [5] bird, always involved in Your ideation.

O' Divine Entity, O' Baba, You are my everything; You are the Goal of my life. My only desire is that You please grace me and give me a place eternally at Your lotus feet by granting me parabhakti...

Notes For Prabhat Samgiita #1370:

How He colours the mind

[1] Ma'nasrainjan:
The mind is affected or coloured by whatever one thinks about in day to day life. Every thought has a particular colour and that colour varies based on one's object of contemplation. If a businessman is thinking primarily about his business, then his mind is coloured in that way. A drunkard's mind is coloured with the thought of wine. When the mind is completely obsessed with a particular thought, the mind becomes fully coloured in that manner, whether it be tamasik, sentient, or spiritual etc.

When Parama Purusa graciously colours a sadhaka's mind with bhakti, they remain wholly ensconced in the thought of Parama Purusa. If a new sadhaka cannot do sadhana at all, then we can understand that their mind is not coloured with bhakti. And if someone longs to do more and more meditation, we can understand that their mind is deeply coloured with with divinity.

Depending on the nature of one's thought, their mental colour changes. It may be black, red, yellow or white etc. Those bhaktas who think of Parama Purusa exclusively will have a white-coloured mind; it will be white effulgence. A violent person's mind will be red in colour. Remember, this colour is not their skin colour, nor any other external colour. Here we are only talking about the colour of their mind - nothing else.

Baba has given countless demonstrations on this. He used to make two sadhakas sit facing one another. Then He would bestow upon one the power to see into the other's mind. Then that bhakta would be able to clearly see the colour of the other sadhaka's mental plate. Still today this is possible, by the grace of Parama Purusa. When one advances in sadhana, they can easily see another's mental colour. Immediately, they can understand what type of person they are. In that case, nobody can hide. There is no scope for hypocrisy.

Parama Purusa, in His role as Ma'nasrainjan, is that Divine Entity who colours and saturates the mind of sadhakas in the fountain of bhakti.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "'rainjana', which means 'the One who colours' - that which colours the mind." (1)

So He is that Cosmic Being who graciously showers unconditional love into the heart and mind of the bhakta. And by such overwhelming Cosmic grace, the bhakta becomes immersed in Supreme bliss and comes in the closest proximity with that Love Personified Entity: Parama Purusa.

We all know that bhakti is that unique ingredient which allows one to advance in the spiritual field. Without innate love for Parama Purusa one can never succeed.

About the sound of Omnkara

[2] Nu'pura: This universe exists in the mind of Parama Purusa and is marked by three processes: Creation, sustenance, and destruction. Those process are represented by three sounds: A - U - MA. That is the sound of omnkara. Thus Parama Purusa is dancing in the rhythm of creation, sustenance, and destruction. These are the sounds emanating from the ankle bell of Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Listen to these three sounds of aum: a, u, ma. They represent the creation, the retention [or preservation], and the destruction. The first sound, a, represents creation; the second sound, u, represents retention; the third sound, ma, represents destruction. So all those innumerable sounds, all those fifty sounds, are represented by these supreme sounds, a, u and ma; and collectively a-u-ma becomes aum.” (2)

For unit beings the sound they hear depends upon the degree of their realisation. If, by His grace, their mind is in an exalted state then they will hear the full omnkara sound. If one's mind is less elevated they will hear a different type of sound like the roar of the ocean, the sweet melody of the flute, the chirping of the crickets etc. At different stages of realisation the sadhaka can hear these sounds as detailed in the discourse, “The Six Stages of Realization.”

So it is all dependent upon the quality of mind. That determines which sound a person will hear. It is similar to someone looking at a very colourful flower. If their eyes are perfect they will see all the colours of that flower. And if their vision is compromised in any way or if they are colour-blind they will only see one or two of the colours. It depends upon the quality of their vision. In the same way, hearing the omnkara sound is wholly dependent upon the quality of mind of the aspirant.

How He steals the mind

[3] Citta-cor / Chit-chor / Citcor: In His role as 'Citcor', Parama Purusa is the Thief or Stealer of the bhakta’s mind. How does He steal the mind? He captivates their mind and attracts the bhakta by His exquisite spiritual charm - whereby the sadhaka cannot think of anything or anyone else. The sadhaka has lost control of his own mind: It incessantly and unknowingly rushes towards Parama Purusa. The One who makes this happen is Citcor - the Stealer of the mind.

And to some degree this happens in the mundane realm as well, though it is degenerating and not long-lasting. There are numerous worldly examples where a person's mind is stolen. For instance, if they lost money, if they are infatuated with mundane attraction, if they are anxious about something - in all such cases when the person's mind runs again and again in that direction. So to some degree their mind has been stolen. The person's mind is no longer their own - they do not have control over it. Over and over, their mind is thinking of something - yet that something is not eternal but rather short-lived. So the effect is degenerating. Because their I-feeling has become attached to something mundane. In the real sense that is not citcor, but rather a reflection of a reflection of the stage of citcor.

The Entity that causes someone to lose control of their mind is Citcor - the stealer of the mind. And this is a deeply spiritual state. In the sphere of bhakti, only Parama Purusa is Citcor. The sadhaka thinks of Him, unknowingly. Always the mind is goaded in that direction. Even if the bhakta intentionally tries not to think in this way, still his mind becomes ensconced in the thought of the Supreme, i.e. Parama Purusa. This is an elevating experience and has a wholly beneficial result.

Ultimately, when this condition climaxes, in that culminating state the unit mind - the jiiva'tma - becomes one with Supreme Consciousness.

Lastly, another name of Citcor is Makhan Cor (Butter Thief).

A number of dogmatic worshipers think that Lord Krsna is a butter-thief and they portray Lord Krsna as a small child who has stolen butter whereby the child Krsna is eating a lot of saturated fat. The sages tried to teach the common people with analogies but due to a very low standard the people took it in a literal way until finally it became an entrenched dogma. They do not like to hear the real truth of the matter.

Conversation with Parama Purusa

[4] Parabhakti: Par means divine; and apara means worldly. The feminine is para and when combined with bhakti, it is parabhakti. That is the highest bhakti. In that blessed state, bhaktas want to do each and everything for Parama Purusa and give Him pleasure. In return, they do not want anything. Those sadhakas who got Parama Purusa, by His grace, have gotten everything. This is the highest type of bhakti where one wants only Parama Purusa and does not want anything from Him, whereas aparabhakti is when one asks the Lord for mundane gains.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "When one wants Parama Purus'a from Parama Purus'a,then that bhakti is para'bhakti..."
"And what is para'bhakti? 'O Parama Purus'a, You know whether I am Your devotee or not. It is You who are to judge whether I am Your devotee or not -- but I want You...I want You. And why do I want You? Because I want to serve You'."
"And when asked by Parama Purus'a, 'O my boy, why do You want to serve Me?"...The reply should be, 'By serving You I want to give You pleasure. That's why I want to serve You. I don't want to enjoy pleasure'."
"This is the highest phase of para'bhakti." (3)

Ananda Marga ideology says, “When people beseech the Lord to fulfil all their selfish desires, this is called aparábhakti. “Oh Lord, I am your devotee, help me to pass my examination… Oh Lord, my daughter has attained marriageable age – help me to find a worthy suitor… Let the bridegroom be ideal, let me not spend much on the wedding…” This type of showy devotion that simply asks for mundane objects, is no devotion at all, because it demands everything except Parama Puruśa. Such devotees never say, “Oh Lord, be mine… I want You and only You.” They always say, “I want this, I want that.” In fact this is no devotion at all. When one asks only for Parama Puruśa, this is the true devotion, parábhakti.” (4)

[5] Cakor / Chakor Bird: The red-legged Bartavelle bird or Greek Partridge that seems to subsist on moonlight alone. All night long the cakor bird looks and stares at the moon - wanting to soak up and drink each and every ounce of moonlight. It is completely linked with the moon (vidhu). That is why it is said that the cakor bird has a deeply loving relation with the moon. In the above composition of Prabhat Samgiita, the bhakta is compared to the cakor and Parama Purusa is likened to the moon.

March ahead crushing the towering peaks of obstacles

“The entire humanity must be looked upon as one integrated existence – and move collectively towards the all-round perfection of human life. All actions are bound to confront obstacles. It has to be borne in mind that the nobler the task, the mightier the obstacle. For human emancipation, there is no other way but to march ahead crushing the towering peaks of obstacles with a benevolent intellect and collective endeavour. Hence I reiterate, go ahead with courage and unity. You have to move on ensuring real justice to all individuals and all geographical people.” (Ananda Vanii #56)

Note 1: True Ananda Vaniis have a number whereas Fake Ananda Vaniis do not - just as a fake car license plate has no number. By this way, you can easily recognise a Fake Ananda Vanii.

When Ananda Nagar was always snow-covered

Baba says, “In the distant past, some areas of India did not exist: There was neither northern India, nor D’aba’k nor Samatat’ areas of Bengal, but there was Old Gondwana. That was about 300 million years ago. At that time, the major parts of Sind, the Punjab, U.P., Bihar and Bengal did not exist. They were all submerged under the vast oceans. The Himalayas also did not exist. But the Vindhya mountain range and its sister ranges, Sa’tpura’, Sahya’dri, Rajmahal and Ra’mga’r’h did exist. These mountains were very high, and always snow-covered.” (1)
