Pújá with eyes open

Baba
Pújá with eyes open

Namaskar,

One very significant point surrounding our practice of guru pújá is whether it should be done with the eyes open or closed. And there are clear-cut guidelines about this. As guru pújá is part of our Ananda Marga sadhana system it is based on vibration, not any mundane quality. There are key times when keeping the eyes open or closed best enhances the quality of one’s guru pújá.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Since the majority of the time, most Ananda Margiis are doing sadhana alone in the privacy of their own home, here first is a suggestion how to do Guru Pújá in this circumstance.

Way to do guru pújá when alone

When alone in your own private space it is recommended to do guru pújá with the eyes open, gazing intently on Baba's photo. Because in guru pújá the ideation is that Baba is seated directly in front of you, facing you. In that case, using a clear photo as an ideational tool is a very helpful way for the practice of guru pújá. In this instance, looking at the photo with the eyes open can be quite good for cultivating bhakti.

Here we must remember that when the eyes are closed, one needs a pointed mind to clearly visualise Parama Purusa Baba. He is the Divine Entity and visualising Him demands deep concentration. It is not the same as visualizing a normal human being. To see Him, one must have a very pointed mind, and His divine grace. When the mind is not in that highly spiritual and pin-pointed state, a photo is very helpful for doing guru pújá. When alone in the room one can keep the eyes open and look at Baba's photo.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

By this way one will develop the ingrained habit of seeing Baba perfectly when doing guru pújá. In those circumstances - outlined below - where one has to do guru pújá with the eyes closed, then the mind will be properly trained and one will be able to see Him when doing guru pújá.

If no photo available

When one does not have a photo available, then it is best to do guru pújá with the eyes closed, even if one is alone. Because in guru pújá one must always envision Him sitting in front of you. So when there is no photo available, the eyes have to be kept closed.

The above scenarios represent a few of the many possible circumstances regarding the practice of our guru pújá. The basic rule though is to only do open-eyed guru pújá when in the privacy of your own room or at your own personal and private meditation place.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

We all know that guru pújá is a highly personal affair and intimate experience between a sadhaka and Guru. It is a time to be extremely close with Baba and surrender everything at His lotus feet. The entire success of guru pújá depends upon generating the right feeling of bhakti, combined with a pointed mind. Keeping the eyes open or closed has a big effect. Every sadhaka should know exactly under which circumstances one can do guru pújá with the eyes open and when guru pújá should be done with the eyes closed. Knowing this, one can have the very special closeness which makes guru pújá such a beautiful and personal experience that enables one to progress on the path. The ultimate goal of guru pújá is to establish that inner link with Him and surrender everything unto Him. So one should take the approach, eyes open or closed, that best supports that ideal.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Trinetra

~ In-depth study ~

One key element in tantra is the Guru-disciple relation. When the Guru-disciple relation is properly established, everything in life will be successful. This is the guarantee. So the Guru-disciple relation holds tremendous import in the practice of tantra.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "As the practical aspect is the most important factor in Tantra, the greatest emphasis is placed on the Preceptor-disciple relationship." (1)

And certainly one key aspect of our tantric system that cultivates and deepens our relation with Baba is our practice of guru pújá. So the practice of our guru pújá is highly significant; we should make our practice perfect in all aspects, by His grace.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

How to prevent rushing guru pújá

Here it should be noted that if guru pújá is done in a rushed or hasty manner, then the whole thing is spoiled, regardless of whether one's eyes are open or closed. So just as we approach our shuddhis and mantra japa in a deliberate and poised manner, similarly we should take a balanced approach in the practice of guru pújá; it should not be rushed. The way to prevent this from happening on the collective level is to do call and response style guru pújá when in a collective forum.

And one way to ensure that guru pújá is not done in a rushed way, especially when done individually, is to chant the mantra out loud. When alone with a clear Baba photo, one should chant guru pújá out loud, keeping the eyes open, gazing intently at Him. This is something for each and every sadhaka to know about.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Side by side, one should ensure to start their sadhana early so there is no need to rush through guru pújá in order to finish on time. While doing any of our sadhana practices such as guru pújá, one should cultivate and heighten their spiritual flow and love for Baba.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Divine bliss is easily attainable to those who base their sa'dhana' on love." (2)

Recitation of guru pújá

As is commonly known, guru pújá is the offering of one's mental colours to Guru. Here colours refers to one's problems, difficulties, challenges, etc. Those colours represent the way in which the mind is stained, and those are offered to Baba, and He graciously accepts them. So this entire process of guru pújá is known as varnarghyadan, i.e. offering of colours.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Offer Him the colours of different objects which have dyed the mind. When this practice of offering your own colours -- your own attachments- becomes natural and easy, you will then merge in Him.  Then you will have no need for any colour, for you will become colourless; you will go beyond the reach of any colour. Your unit-ego will become one with the Cosmic Ego. Whichever way you look you will see only Him in His ever-surging glory." (3)

Here following is our guru pújá shloka that is chanted 3 times, offering the colour of your mind to Guru after the completion of each round.

(Note: New sadhakas who have not yet memorised guru pújá should write it down or record it and learn it by heart, i.e. from memory.)

    Akhańd́a mańd́alákáram vyáptam yena carácaram
Tadpadaḿ darshitam yena tasmae Shrii Gurave namah

    Ajiṋánatimirándhasya jiṋánáinjana shalákayá
Cakśurunmilitam yena tasmae Shrii Gurave namah

Gurur Brahmá Gurur Viśńu, Gurur Devo Maheshvara
Gurureva Parama Brahma tasmae Shrii Gurave namah

After three rounds of guru pújá, then the pranama mantra is recited one time:

    Tava dravyam Jagatguro tubhyameva samarpaye

Ananda Marga ideology teaches us, "“Tava” means “Your”. “Dravyaḿ” means “that which takes a definite form”. The spiritual aspirant says, “Tava dravyaḿ Jagatguro Tubhyameva samarpaye” – “Your article is being offered to You, is being offered at Your altar.” Why “Tava dravyaḿ”? Suppose a spiritual aspirant has a red flower and is offering it. Why should he say, “Tava dravyaḿ”? The dravyaḿ is being offered by the aspirant, so why “Tava”, “Your”? It is His because in this universe of ours human beings cannot create the original stuff. They have not got the dexterity to create something original. They can create physical mixtures and chemical compounds, but not the original stuff. Everything of mine, along with my mind, is offered at Your altar. Please oblige and accept it.” (4)

This is followed by one's final offering and full surrender in sastaunga pranama (full prostration) to Guru.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

It is part of astaunga yoga

As we know astaunga yoga is the 8 limbs of yoga: yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. The practice of guru pújá - or the offering of one mental colour - is the 5th limb of astaunga yoga known as pratyahara.

Next Baba describes the derivation and meaning of the term Guru.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "In Sanskrit, gu means “darkness” and ru means “dispeller”. So guru means “one who removes the darkness from the mind”. The darkness of the mind must be dispelled. There should not be a festival of lights outside while one’s own house remains in darkness. There should also be illumination inside one’s own house, and this is the enlightenment of the mind, of the soul." (5)

Only Brahma is the Guru

Here below is Baba's definition of Guru from Ananda Sutram.

Brahmaeva gururekah náparah.
Only Brahma is the guru, no one else.

Ananda Sutram states, “Purport: Brahma alone is the guru. Brahma alone directs the units to the path of emancipation through the media of different receptacles or bodies. No one except Brahma conforms to the real significance of the word “guru”." (6)

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings – That alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed Brahmavidyá (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and form of Anandamúrtijii. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty." (7)

How concept of Guru is misunderstood

In tantra, as demonstrated above, only Brahma is the Guru, and for the bhakta Guru is everything. As Guru, Parama Purusa Baba watches over every atom and entity of this universe, in all the realms. Indeed, this universe is His creation and it is His thought projection. Guru is the Divine Entity and the Creator of all.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Yet, nowadays in many countries where materialism has taken root, the term Guru is used in a very ordinary and mundane way. If there is a computer repair shop with 5 technicians and one technician is better or more knowledgeable than the other four, then they will call that top technician the "Computer Guru." Needless to say, this is a complete misuse and abuse of the term Guru. Yet there are many such examples: The auto-mechanic guru, the basketball guru, the Wall Street guru etc. In all such cases, they refer to the top person as the guru. But this is entirely wrong.

Further Reading: Criteria of Guru

Here below are some key aspects from Sadguru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji Baba's discourse, "The Criteria of a Guru."

In order to be an ideal guru in the spiritual sphere, one must be thoroughly conversant with the minutest details of sádhaná, every aspect of sádhaná, important or unimportant. The guru must not only learn those things, but must also possess the capacity to teach those practices to others. Otherwise he should not be treated as a guru. The Mahákaola alone has this capacity, no one else. Kaolas are those who by dint of sádhaná have successfully elevated their microcosmic stance and established it in the Macrocosmic one; but a Mahákaola is one who is a kaola, certainly, but at the same time possesses the capacity to help others as well to get to that exalted kaola position. In the past Lord Shiva was one such Mahákaola. Lord Krśńa was another. To be a guru one must be a Mahákaola.

One must possess knowledge regarding sádhaná, not only thorough knowledge of the shástras [scriptures]. And in order to gain thorough scriptural knowledge, one must know as many important languages as are necessary for the purpose. That is to say, it is not enough that a guru acquires the necessary qualifications to be able to teach sádhaná (that is, impart lessons on the practical cult); he must possess adequate knowledge of theory also. That is, in order to know the inner secret of sádhaná, he must possess thorough and authentic scriptural knowledge; then only should he be accepted as a perfect guru in the spiritual sphere...

A spiritual guru must be well-acquainted with all the processes of sádhaná, must have the capacity to convince others, must possess complete knowledge of the scriptures, must know many languages, and must have comprehensive knowledge and intellect, plus some extra qualifications. What are those qualifications? Nigrahánugrahe shakto gururityabhidhiiyate – “the guru must possess the capacity both to punish, and to love, or bless, his disciples.” Punishment alone, without love, is not good. Love and punishment should go together, and the degree of punishment should never exceed the degree of love. Then only can one be called a real spiritual guru.

I have already said that a guru must be an authority on all subjects in all the three strata:

As a spiritual guru, he must be thoroughly versed in spiritual science – both the theory and the practice. He must know how Parama Puruśa associates Himself with jiivas [unit beings]; and he must know how jiivas associate themselves with Parama Puruśa (they associate themselves just as the Ganges merges into the Bay of Bengal). Otherwise, how can he teach this science to others? And who knows this science? Only Parama Puruśa knows it, because He Himself has created everything...

After the spiritual sphere comes the psychic sphere, which is cruder than the former. That is, the guru must be aware of the nature of the human mind – what it is made of, how it should be elevated step by step from crude to subtle, how all the unit minds can march together in unison towards the goal – in a word, he must know both the theoretical and the applied sides of psychology. He must know a thousand times more than is written in books. He must assimilate everything through his own refined intellect. And then only can he teach others perfectly. That shows that he must be not only a spiritual guru, but also a guru in the psychic world. There is a sense of want in the human mind. One who can remove the sense of want is a guru. In order to qualify as a guru, one must have the power to remove psychic wants.

As in the spiritual sphere, so also in the psychic sphere, a guru must be learned. He should be well-versed in the humanities; in fact, in all branches of human knowledge. In order to be a spiritual guru, it will be sufficient that he have mastery over scriptural treatises; but to be a guru in the psychic sphere, he must be well-versed in all branches of human knowledge. A limited knowledge of a few scriptures will not do. And simultaneously, he must be conversant with the style in which the human mind functions, as also in the method to control and guide it properly.

Next comes the physical world. The followers, the disciples, of the guru, are men and women of flesh and blood having physical structures. They have their sorrows and miseries, their tears and smiles. This is their life. They have their problems of food and clothing; they have their pleasures and pains, their tears of pain and tears of joy; they become elated in happy circumstances and depressed when things go wrong. It is the duty of a guru to provide his followers with the wherewithal for their progress. This is what an ideal guru is to do in the physical sphere. As a guru in the physical world, he will have to teach mankind such techniques as will solve their worldly problems – problems of food, clothing, education and medical treatment. A guru must see to it that their mundane problems are solved.

So in order to be a guru, one must come onto this earth with the highest qualifications in the spiritual field, and with the greatest capacity to face the mountainous obstacles in the physical world. To shoulder the responsibility of a guru is not child’s play. (8)

Mahaprayan of Durga Charan Mahata

 Baba

Mahaprayan of Durga Charan Mahata

Namaskar,

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the mahaprayan of Durga Charan Mahata. It was on 17 Oct that Mahata ji underwent his mahaprayan in Australia.

May we all take solace in the fact that Baba will lovingly bestow His infinite grace.

in Him,
Harideva

Note: Here is an alert for those cremating a dead body in India or Indian managed cremation homes around the world. Their custom is to put the fire in the mouth of the deceased to initiate the burning of the body. This is prohibited in AM as it is uncivilised. So watch out; do not allow this. If you are not careful, they will end up cremating the body in this manner. Make them aware ahead of time.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The practice of putting fire into the mouth of the dead body is repulsive, it should not be encouraged." (Caryacarya - 1, Disposal of the Dead Body)

~ In-depth study ~

We have seen that when somebody dies then in offering their condolences people say now Mr So-and-so is sitting on Baba's lap. On other occasions when telling a Baba story people also say, "Such and such person sat on Baba's lap." But these days the trend is that "sitting on Baba's lap" is used more in connection with death. And that causes some confusion in the minds of readers. To unknot the situation please read below.

Dogma: if "on Baba's lap" only used for death

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:

- "May Parama Purusa Baba accept her in HIS divine lap"

- "We pray to Baba - please give him shelter in his lap... "

- "May his soul rest in the lap of our beloved BABA"

- "Now she is taking rest in Baba's Lap."

- "May Baba accept him in HIS divine lap....."

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in Bábá's loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in peace taking shelter in Baba's lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

- "We all collectively pray to Baba to take him on Baba's divine lap forever.”

All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. These days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's intimate spiritual experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused, and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their inner feelings of bhakti. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

Baba story: "sitting on Baba's lap"

Some time ago after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba. He said, "After being lovingly scolded by Baba for my wrongdoings, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his factual and historical event, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries. Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this. The new sadhaka sensed that something was wrong, and he said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if in order to sit on Baba’s lap one has to die. But that is false. Sincere sadhakas regularly sit on Baba’s lap in their meditation. It is His grace. It is just like how a child need not die in order to sit on his father’s lap.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The idea is that this phrase - Baba's lap - has been linked with death due to extreme overuse. So for some time if sadhakas use this phrase exclusively for spiritual purposes, that will be best. The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its pure spiritual quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

Baba would bless bhaktas and place them on His lap

There are tens of thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap. People should understand the deeply mystical value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and sadhana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply intimate experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a spiritual practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in sadhana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.

"Mahaprayan" means death of mortals - confirm for yourself
from the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary

Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in our Bengal to describe the death of any human being, even ordinary people. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily grand term of bhakti to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no bhaktas ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

Here it should be known that the convention of an annual death day ceremony (i.e. shraddhainjali or mahaprayan) is a foundation of the Islamic tradition. Muslims are well known for this, and their approach of an annual death day ceremony was adopted by the leader of a particular group in AMPS. So no one should think that mahaprayan is some type of sacred event. It is done on the death day anniversary of Muslims.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary 3rd edition on page 848. By checking there, it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it is used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens. And that is the case in this letter also. The term mahaprayan means death, and this is the ideal term for this purpose.

Mahaprayan is only for humans not for Sadguru

Here it should be qualified that there is both a real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being, just like the aforesaid news. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Sadguru Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa. Those doing mahaprayan for Sadguru are hypocrites. On the one side in meditation they ask His grace thinking that He is ever-present, and on the other side they think that Baba has passed away. That is their hypocrisy.

Political vs economic democracy + 3 more

Baba
Political vs economic democracy

Namaskar,

Nowadays, in most countries of the world, people hold high hopes that the next democratic election will set things right, alleviating economic distress and political confusion. Time and again people get duped into this false belief that political democracy is great. Mostly because they think that the victory of their candidate or party leader will end today's misery.

People continue to live in false paradise by thinking that the answer lies in the next election and the victory of their chosen candidate. But not any election within the realm of political democracy can bring an ounce of relief to the people's woes. Because today's democracy (i.e. political democracy) - and its inherent flaw of economic centralisation - means the rich get richer, and the people get poorer. Plus political democracy brings on so many other ills.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The needed change to solve all this lies not in the capitalist or communist approach of political democracy, but in Prout's way of economic democracy. Only economic democracy can lead humanity in the proper direction.

Political democracy is prevalent nowadays

These days political democracy, in one form or another, exists in most of the world's nations. And the mere mention of the term 'political democracy' brings a smile to people's faces. Constant booming by the capitalists has brainwashed and sold the population on political democracy.

Prout philosophy says, "In all countries where [political] democracy is in vogue today, people have been deceived into believing that there is no better system than political democracy."  (1)

Thus the myth and false hope about political democracy is just about everywhere, yet it is reaching its soaring peak in some places as people sit with bated breath waiting for their chosen candidate to come onto the scene. That said, political democracy is quite prevalent now on this earth.

Specifically, as Baba tells us, democracy (i.e. political democracy) has two distinct branches: liberal democracy where capitalists have all the money like in the US, and socialist democracy where the state has all the money like in China. And one or another nation follows one of these two pathways.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout philosophy states, "Liberal democracy has been established in such countries as the USA, Great Britain, France and Canada, while in China, Vietnam and Eastern Europe socialist democracy is the dominant system." (2)

So political democracy is all over and only spreading. Tragically, the gullible people gleefully embrace it, thinking that it is great, not knowing that political democracy will bring their demise.

The pitfalls of political democracy

With their tall talks of freedom, their backwards policy that all (even uninformed people) can vote, and so many other so-called progressive proclamations, political democracy promotes itself as being the grand solution. Yet, political democracy means economic centralisation and political centralisation-- both of which spell disaster for the people.

Prout says, "In all the democratic countries of the world, economic power is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals and groups. In liberal democracies economic power is controlled by a handful of capitalists, while in socialist countries economic power is concentrated in a small group of party leaders. In each case a handful of people – the number can be easily counted on one’s fingertips – manipulate the economic welfare of the entire society." (3)

From an economic perspective, political democracy consolidates the wealth, ruins the purchasing capacity of the people, turns most people into mere tools for the ruling capitalists, and ultimately causes a world-wide financial depression. And from the political side, political democracy is equally harmful.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout teaches us, "Today in most democracies, people of dubious character and those with vested interests are elected to power. Even bandits and murderers stand for election and form the government." (4)

Thus from both an economic and political perspective political democracy is a mess, yet people all over, especially in election years, embrace the myth that political democracy is the ideal solution.

Prout philosophy says, "Political democracy has become a great hoax for the people of the world. It promises the advent of an era of peace, prosperity and equality, but in reality it creates criminals, encourages exploitation and throws common people into an abyss of sorrow and suffering." (5)

Candidates are eternally promising "an era of peace, prosperity and equality" yet the people will not taste one ounce of these things once any candidate is elected. That will never happen. Because capitalists, political scammers, and special interest groups have the whole affair skewed in their favour. And those manipulators, including the candidates themselves, hide behind the facade of political democracy.

So it is our duty to break down the aura of political democracy and lead the people into a new era of economic and political justice by raising their social consciousness. The current democratic structures will only lead the people deeper into hell. Even then, people foolishly dream that the next democratic election will bring all the solutions. That is the prevalent myth of the day.

Key difference between economic & political democracy

In an economic democracy, all financial power rests with the people, not with an elite class of capitalists as happens in a political democracy. In political democracy one has voting rights, but forfeits any power over economic decision-making. The masses fully hand over those rights to political leaders. The common people are befooled into thinking that since they have the power to vote then that is everything, and they lose sight of getting economic power.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Why economic democracy is better

Prout philosophy says, "Political democracy cannot fulfil the hopes and aspiration of people or provide the basis for constructing a strong and healthy human society. The only way to achieve this is to establish economic democracy." (6)

The question then is why our Proutistic vision of economic democracy is so much better. Here is a comparative analysis:

1. In Prout's approach of economic decentralisation, the economic power lies with the people. That means job stability, increased purchasing capacity, and so many other financial benefits for the general citizens because the money is not being hoarded by a few capitalists.

2. Prout also advances the guarantee of minimum requirements to all. Democratic capitalism never preaches this and certainly cannot fulfill it as the only goal is to make more and more money at the expense of the common people.

3. Prout puts political power in the hands of moral leaders who watch for the welfare of the people, while political democracy gives rise to political leaders who are but stooges of capitalism and suck the blood of the people.

4. Prout also advances the idea of a local economy where resources stay within that region and get manufactured there as well bringing in money to the local people, as opposed to those same resources getting dragged to other places so big capitalists can earn money from those very raw materials.

5. Prout is sensitive to the earth's ecological and environmental balance as each and every samaj gets developed in a sustainable manner that takes into consideration the well-being of animals, plants, and inanimate resources, whereas today's political democracy allows all those corporate giants to wreak havoc on this earth in every way imaginable so that they can make a bigger profit.

6. Finally, Prout ensures that every citizen gets ample opportunity for psychic and spiritual pursuits.

For more information about Prout's view of economic democracy, please review the section, 'Requirements for Economic Democracy' from the discourse "Economic Democracy" of June 1986, Kolkata.

Conclusion

The very practical methods of Prout will soon be implemented, bringing economic justice, political dignity, and social equality to each and every land.

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says, "Prout's slogan is: 'To end exploitation we demand economic democracy, not political democracy'." (7)

Capitalist money pouring onto the political scene

Every year greedy capitalists are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the various political conventions because such capitalists are anxious to perpetuate the current era of exploitation under the mask of political democracy. Such corporations and capitalists have a huge interest in this, and it is for this reason that they are giving truck loads of cash in support of these political parties, not because they want to cure the ills of the people. Those corporations are not being generous in giving away millions, rather they are only doing so in order to bankroll billions within the favoured system of exploitation known as political democracy.

More of Prout’s teachings on this topic

In His below teachings from His discourse, 'Economic Democracy', Baba perfectly points out the ills of today's democracy and also shows how Prout alone has the answer and solution for humanity. Anyone interested in this topic should read Baba's entire discourse.

Prout says, "Political democracy has...snatched away the right of economic equality. Consequently, there is gross economic disparity between the rich and the poor, immense inequality in people’s purchasing capacity, unemployment, chronic food shortages, poverty and insecurity in society." (8)

Prout says, "The prerequisites for the success of [political] democracy are morality, education and socio-economico-political consciousness. Leaders especially must be people of high moral character, otherwise the welfare of society will be jeopardized. But today in most democracies, people of dubious character and those with vested interests are elected to power. Even bandits and murderers stand for election and form the government." (9)

Prout says, "The farce of [political] democracy has been likened to a puppet show where a handful of power hungry politicians pull the strings from behind the scene. In liberal democracies, capitalists manipulate the mass media such as the radio, television and newspapers, while in socialist democracies the bureaucrats lead the country to the brink of destruction. In both forms of democracy, there is little scope for honest, competent leaders to emerge in society, and virtually no possibility for the economic liberation of the people." (10)

Prout says, "In economic democracy, economic and political power are bifurcated. That is, PROUT advocates political centralization and economic decentralization. Political power is vested with the moralists, but economic power is vested with the local people. The principal goal of the administration is to remove all the impediments and obstacles which prevent the economic needs of the people being met. The universal aim of economic democracy is to guarantee the minimum requirements of life to all members of society." (11)

Floating towards infinity

"Tumi kándiye keno sukh páo, khushi jhará hási bhará ..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1989)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, what sort of bliss do You get by seeing me weep? I am crying in yearning and longing for You. I have so much bhakti for You and want Your close proximity. Yet, You are not paying heed to my call. Do You feel happy by seeing me in tears? Don't You like to see my face that is beaming with happiness and filled with joy. Why are You playing Your liila’ this way?

O’ my Eternal Companion, You are my most intimate One and that relation did not begin only one or two ages ago; it has been going on since before time began. You constantly keep me in Your affectionate shelter. Since the very bosom of eternity, You have gently been taking me floating towards infinity. From the early dawn, You have remained along with me throughout the entire journey - up to its culmination, the ultimate abode. Baba, You are always keeping me at Your lotus feet. It is Your grace.

O' Parama Purusa, O' Dayamay, O' Merciful One, by Your blessing I understand You. In the grand play and expression of Your endless liila, You are inexhaustible. You are always creating newer and more new forms and shapes. You go on evolving Your plan in countless ways. This eternal drama that You are making with me is a mix of two things. Sometimes You make me laugh, and sometimes You make me cry. You do this intentionally. By this way You bring me closer and closer to You. Please be gracious and come very near to me. O' Supreme Being, Baba, You are karun’a’ Personified...

Talent vs genius

Here is an English summary of Baba’s original Bengali teaching from His morning general darshan on 31 Dec 1981. Specifically, Baba is unveiling the science behind why some children are very intelligent, and some may be less so, or even fools. This is a very important science to know about - so come and have a look.

We see in this world that sometimes a person is very intelligent by birth. Some have special qualities that other people do not have. Some are geniuses in music; some are geniuses in speech; some have very sharp memories - why is this so? The kind of action that a person does in each and every part-life, that is, the way a person uses that part-life, as a result of that action, he acquires an ability, a qualitative ability. Ability here means "potentiality". So, after death, when he comes to the next part-life, the previous quality, the previous ability to work, then emerges. Therefore, that quality is manifested from childhood. That is what we call genius.

In contrast, the works that a person does in their present life through effort are his accumulated quality of that life itself; he is acquiring that quality within that life - not from a prior part-life. And in this way, what do we call everything that a person gets in one life, everything that he learns? Technique. And we call that person a technician.

In conclusion, that technique of the previous life which remained in potential form, became manifest in the next life, became manifest in the next part-life, that is what we call genius. So, genius is an inborn faculty. And, what is a technician? The man who has developed his ordinary talents up to an extraordinary degree of efficiency. So, what we get by effort in one life, that is technique. And that is what becomes genius in the next part-life. (1)

New & unique food guideline

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Pramitáhárah: to maintain the physical body, you require physical food, air, water, light. But physical food is not simply for the physical body. It has got its effect on the spiritual body. The cells of your physical body are created from the cells that you receive from your physical food, and your psychic body is also influenced by these cells. So while taking food, you should be very careful. You should always try to take sentient food, and on rare occasions you may take mutative food. You should never take static food. Not only that, but your diet should be balanced. You must not take too much or too little. The food should be substantial. When it is balanced or measured, and, at the same time, substantial, that type of food is called Pramitáhára in Sanskrit. The sixth factor is Pramitáhárah. The sixth requisite factor is balanced and substantial, sentient food." (1)

Note: The  above point of pramitáhára is the sixth factor of the seven secrets of success. This is a revolutionary teaching given only by Sadguru Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji and is not known to others, neither in the east nor in the west. As Ananda Margiis, it is our duty to practice and propagate this special science about food to people the world over.
