Science gone awry + 3 more

Baba
Science gone awry

Namaskar,

The use of science continues to be a point of debate amongst today’s leaders and thinkers. The question comes, on this vital issue, what is the role of Ananda Marga philosophy? What does Ananda Marga ideology say about how society should utilize science? According to Baba's teachings, science should be under the control of civilized people, not under the control of capitalists or politicians.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Here following are the reasons:

(A) When greedy capitalists control the scientists, they create fictitious medicines, dangerous addictive drugs, pornography, degrading movies etc.

(B) When science is under the control of corrupt political leaders, they push science to create more and more deadly weapons, due to which millions of innocent people get killed.

Who is civilised

So, on the one side, hundreds of millions of people are starving and do not have proper food, water, and / or other basic necessities. Science should be used to solve this humanitarian and environmental disaster. Instead, demons in human form are destroying everything with their so-called advancement of science. The teaching of Ananda Marga is that civilized people should control science and channelize it for proper use. Who is civilized? Those who utilize their logic and reasoning to analyze the pros and cons with the goal of benefiting both individuals and the society; and, based on those principles, they are making changes to their practical lives accordingly.

For example:
1) When as soon as you learn that smoking is harmful you give up smoking, then on that point you are civilized.
2) The moment you learn that meat-eating is not good, you give up eating meat. On that point, you are civilized.
3) When you know that horror movies, violent video games, blue films, are drugs, and you refrain from using those things, then on those points you are civilized.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

If…then human civilization will be destroyed

When civilized people control science they carefully analyse how science should be used and which problems should be solved. The world is facing serious challenges and problems that inhibit the welfare of society. But unfortunately science is not used to solve those matters. If science was used to solve those vital problems then the world would be a better place. Unfortunately these days science is misused by war mongering people or capitalists to create war or degrading things that excite the lower propensities. By that way, society is harmed by science.

Civilization does not mean flying in rocket ships or constructing a five hundred story building. Those moralists who are established in yama and niyama and have great love for humanity, such people should be in control of science. Then there will be all-round progress. Otherwise, if science is controlled by politicians or greedy wealthy capitalists or thugs of the society, then human civilization will be destroyed. That happened in the past, and it will happen in the future also.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

How ancient societies were ruined by misuse of science

Roman or Egyptian civilization was destroyed because science was busy in creating new and newer types of indulgence. That is why their civilization became weak, and other people came and destroyed them. Western civilization is going to face the same fate. We see that the materialistic nations are leaning toward more and more destructive indulgences which are slowly destroying the physical, psychic, and spiritual strength of human beings. And it will destroy itself.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "Take, for instance, the history of Egypt and Greece. So long as the scientific progress of these two countries did not supersede civilization, civilization prospered very well. But when the ingredients of enjoyment grew up in abundance, the civilization of both countries got destroyed, because science had occupied a higher position than civilization." (1)

For example, in so-called developed nations, there are serious problems with drug addiction, mental disease, sexual indulgence, and other negative habits. By this way, the whole society is surging headlong towards self-destruction. So the key point is that science should be controlled by moralists.

Prout teachings guide us, "Where the development of civilization is utterly negligible and science gradually attains the apogee of development, science only paves the way for destruction instead of doing any good to humanity. And so, study and practice of science, though unavoidable, should not be given a higher place than civilization." (2)

In His teachings, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar guides us that there must be harmony between science and civilization, and He warns us that when science is dominant over civilization, then that society is doomed.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout philosophy states, "How does the development of civilization take place? Civilization has an intimate relation with science. They progress together. But where scientific progress supersedes civilization, there civilization meets its Waterloo." (3)

Greedy capitalists: control science & environmental destruction

Because science is under the control of capitalists, that's why they are destroying the ecosystem of the entire globe. Land, water, air, underground, everywhere they destroyed so many flora and fauna. They invented so many things which cause so much imbalance in the atmosphere. And as a result there is global warming.

And capitalists are in control of political power, so they like to befool and misguide the common populace, with such rhetoric as "there is no such thing as global warming". So we should try to understand the root cause of the serious problems human society is facing today. A superficial solution will not do. And the root cause is that these days science is not controlled by civilized people.

Here below is the example of when capitalists control science then they destroy the entire ecosystem. If it continues then not only humans but the entire flora and fauna will be destroyed in suffocation. That is why science should be controlled by moralists - not by greedy capitalists, thugs, or any type of politician.

How science should be used

Here Baba outlines what needs to be done and how science should be harnessed.

Prout philosophy states, "In the present age, civilization is on the wane due to science enjoying the pride of place. But developed as science is today, if civilization is pushed up again to the top, people can reach a greater height than ever before." (4)

Prout philosophy states, “The Christian or Roman civilization was also considerably higher on the ladder of development. Yet they were lacking in social outlook. There were no feelings of fraternity and equality. The slave system was rampant and human feelings were on the wane. Furthermore, the lack of a proper socio-economic theory generated a kind of fascist mentality in them. Those rolling in luxury and adverse to labour became indolent. Naturally they were defeated by a stronger and more strenuous force.” (5)

Conclusion

Prout philosophy teaches us that science is very important. But science should be controlled by rational and moral people. Science should not be misused in harming others, self-indulgences, or anything which is detrimental and dangerous for the society. That type of research and development should be prohibited. But, unfortunately, nowadays science is misused. In so-called developed countries, human beings are destroying themselves.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

In some capitalist nations, science is used to harm oneself or others - all the while there are serious problems with drug addiction, mental disease, sexual indulgence, pseudo-culture, and other negative habits. By this way the whole society is surging headlong towards self-destruction. So the key point is that science should be controlled by moralists.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Jagadiish

There is a myth that some so-called developed nations do not believe in science. When in fact those countries want more money for weapons like missile defense systems and the latest advancements in weaponry for their military and paramilitary agencies. Those governments give priority to science for capitalism and war, not universal welfare. Science is not used for service activities for the common mass on a broad level. That is why they are defunding social programs. That is why some get confused and think that those nations do not believe in science. But that is a myth.

When science is under the control of corrupt political leaders, they push science to create more and more deadly weapons. Due to which millions of innocent people get killed. Consider the use of the noxious chemical known as “agent orange” by the United States military in the Vietnam War. Or recall the invention of the atomic bomb which was dropped in Hiroshima, or the cluster bomb, which Asad was using in Syria. Or chemical weapons etc. This all happens when corrupt leaders are controlling science.

The Propounder of Prout states, "I would say, the greater the support of judgement in action and behaviour, the better shall be the expression and development of civilization." (6)

Prout philosophy states, "If science and civilization are harmonized, intuitional progress gets accelerated. Therefore, people of wisdom should proceed and progress, blending these two. It is useless to think of intuitional progress without effecting the harmony between the two." (7)

Prout teachings guide us, "What is science? That which teaches the proper use of material things is science. Where the development of civilization is utterly negligible and science gradually attains the apogee of development, science only paves the way for destruction instead of doing any good to humanity. And so, study and practice of science, though unavoidable, should not be given a higher place than civilization." (8)

Reminder: Environmental Destruction

~ Courtesy of World Centric ~

The planet's natural ecosystems and regenerating bio-capacity are being severely degraded and, as a result, this compromises the ability of the planet to sustain life. Forests, fisheries, oceans, rangeland, freshwater systems (lakes, wetlands, rivers) and other natural ecosystems are all threatened while many are on the verge of collapse. Water, land and air are getting increasingly polluted, water tables are falling, soil erosion is leading to desertification, global warming is well underway, and species are dying out 1000 times faster than their natural rate of extinction.

Forests

We are losing forestland at a rate of 375 km2 each day. This is more than the total area of New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey and Delaware combined!

The world has already lost 80% of its original forests.

1.1 billion acres of tropical forest were cleared in just thirty years, between 1960 and 1990.

Brazil lost 91.4 million acres of its tropical forest between 1980 and 1990. This is almost the total area of North and South Dakota combined.
At the world's current rates, 5-10% of tropical forest species will become extinct every decade.

Fisheries

75% of all the fish stocks in the world are already either: exploited, over-exploited or recovering. 27% of coral reefs have already been and 70% of Earth's coral reefs will cease to exist within the next forty years. The world has lost half of its coastal wetlands, including mangrove swamps and salt marshes.
In the next 30 years, as many as one-fifth of all species alive today will become extinct. 23% of all mammals and 12% of all birds’ species were considered "threatened" in 2003. http://worldcentric.org/conscious-living/environmental-destruction

Parama Purusa is eternal friend

Ananda Marga ideology states, “In this world everyone has some difference of opinion with others. Even on small matters there is a difference of opinion and these small things become bigger in the end. Therefore, no-one in this universe is your suhrd. Only dharma who accompanies you even after death is your suhrd. None but dharma is suhrd.” (1) Note: In this paragraph, dharma means Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Sadaevánumatah suhrd.” The meaning of this is that where there is no difference of opinion – where there is no conflict of ideas and ideals with a particular person – that person is called “suhrd”. In this world you also cannot have any suhrd, for differences of opinion will always arise, even within the family among brother and sister, among father and mother, and among husband and wife. So neither in the family nor in society will you find a suhrd. [Parama Purusa is the only suhrd.]” (2)

Note: By the above teaching, it is clear that only Parama Purusa is suhrd. He is always with you, and will always remain with you in heart and mind. In good times, He is there, and in bad times He is also with you. He never abandons or neglects anyone. Always, Parama Purusa is goading you to make the right decision and abide by dharma, but if you take a wrong turn He will not reject you. Various friends and family members may turn their back on you, but Parama Purusa is your eternal companion. Just as a mother may not always approve of what her son does, she will always love him as a son. Similarly, Parama Purusa may be displeased by some of your actions, but He always remains with you, supporting you. Parama Purusa can never leave you. That’s why after committing their bad deeds and heinous acts, notorious crooks and criminals conceal those details from everyone, but they will secretly confide in Parama Purusa and ask for His mercy. Verily, those wrongdoers request Him to save them because in their innermost core they feel that Parama Purusa is not going to betray them, but will help them.

In individual life, if anybody is about to do something wrong then inside their heart Parama Purusa will goad them not to do this as it is bad. But if you always ignore this, then step by step you will be unable to hear His guidance and suggestions. But even if you do not obey or follow His right suggestion, He will not leave you - rather, He will remain with and help you. Whatever you do, He will not directly intervene in your bad deeds. By seeing you undergo the reaction of your negative deeds, He feels sad for you, but will never leave you. Parama Purusa is of one mind and one heart with each and every jiiva; He is that eternal witnessing Entity.

In this grand liila, so many events - both glorious and tragic - happen to so many people. Some become world champions, while others undergo horrific torture. And Parama Purusa remains with everyone, in all circumstances. Some may wonder, “How can it be that Parama Purusa is passively witnessing an innocent person being harmed?” Here we have to remember that this entire relative reality is a passing show. It is the ultimate drama. So many things happen that are beyond our limited, human comprehension. Why this or that happens to an individual we cannot say or explain. But one thing every sadhaka can realise is that Parama Purusa stays with them in each and every moment, regardless of what is transpiring. That is why He is suhrd and our eternal well-wisher.

Past and present: huge transformation in human body

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "In those days there was little security in people's lives. On one side there were fierce animals and on the other a scarcity of food. Both of these were constants. Nowadays if there is a scarcity of food in one place people can bring food materials from someplace else but that was not possible then. If food appeared one day there was no certainty [nishcitatá] that it would appear the next. Due to these kinds of circumstances human beings used to have an appendix to their intestines for accumulated or excess food. As it was needed this food would stimulate salivation in the mouth and be fully eaten and digested. The proper eating and digesting of the surplus food in the appendix is called romanthana in Sanskrit and jábar kát́á in Bengali. In good English we call it “rumination” and in spoken English “chewing the cud”. Many herbivorous (vegetarian) animals still ruminate and a need still exists for it in their wild state. As the certainty of food supplies gradually increased, the need for a corporal appendix to the intestines lessened. Eventually there was even not the slightest need for it. Today a small vestige of it remains in the human body although it is no longer used in times of distress. Human beings have lost the capacity to ruminate." (1)

Note: Animals that are herbivores have a large pocket adjacent to their stomach where they stock and store extra food. And in nighttime, or whenever they do not get sufficient food to eat, food they regurgitate that stored food from the pocket and then chew it again. After chewing it it goes back down the digestive tract and into the stomach for complete digestion. Humans used to do this in the past because they faced an uncertainty in their food supply. They never knew when they were going to eat next. So extra food was eaten and that extra amount would be deposited in the pocket - or appendix. And later, when they got hungry that food would be regurgitated and then eaten again and digested. This process of “chewing the cud” was only done by plant-eating animals - and humans. Nowadays, in general, humans do not face uncertainty with regards to their food. They eat regularly. So humans now have no need for the appendix. And when it is not in use then it loses its quality and strength also. But the fact that only herbivores were the only ones ruminating shows that those initial humans were also vegetarians. They needed an extra pocket to store food and now today that pocket - or appendix - has become useless.

In conclusion:
(a) herbivores only have an extra pocket (appendix) to stock food.
(b) Certain animals ruminate - as well as early humans.
(c) Those who ruminate are 100% vegetarian, i.e only vegetarians ruminate.
(d) This proves that humans are vegetarian.

This logic can be used in pracar work also to convince others to become vegetarian and give up meat.

In Him,
Bhaeravii

Mahaprayan of Shrii NK Jolly, Patiyala

Baba

Mahaprayan of Shrii NK Jolly, Patiyala

Namaskar,

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the mahaprayan of Shrii NK Jolly of Patiyala. Tragically, Jolly ji underwent his mahaprayan in the last day or so.

May we all take solace in the fact that Baba will lovingly bestow His infinite grace.

in Him,
Harideva

Note: Here is an alert for those cremating a dead body in India or Indian managed cremation homes around the world. Their custom is to put the fire in the mouth of the deceased to initiate the burning of the body. This is prohibited in AM as it is uncivilised. So watch out; do not allow this. If you are not careful, they will end up cremating the body in this manner. Make them aware ahead of time.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The practice of putting fire into the mouth of the dead body is repulsive, it should not be encouraged." (Caryacarya - 1, Disposal of the Dead Body)

~ In-depth study ~

We have seen that when somebody dies then in offering their condolences people say now Mr So-and-so is sitting on Baba's lap. On other occasions when telling a Baba story people also say, "Such and such person sat on Baba's lap." But these days the trend is that "sitting on Baba's lap" is used more in connection with death. And that causes some confusion in the minds of readers. To unknot the situation please read below.

Dogma: if "on Baba's lap" only used for death

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:

- "May Parama Purusa Baba accept her in HIS divine lap"

- "We pray to Baba - please give him shelter in his lap... "

- "May his soul rest in the lap of our beloved BABA"

- "Now she is taking rest in Baba's Lap."

- "May Baba accept him in HIS divine lap....."

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in Bábá's loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in peace taking shelter in Baba's lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

- "We all collectively pray to Baba to take him on Baba's divine lap forever.”

All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. These days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's intimate spiritual experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused, and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their inner feelings of bhakti. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

Baba story: "sitting on Baba's lap"

Some time ago after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba. He said, "After being lovingly scolded by Baba for my wrongdoings, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his factual and historical event, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries. Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this. The new sadhaka sensed that something was wrong, and he said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if in order to sit on Baba’s lap one has to die. But that is false. Sincere sadhakas regularly sit on Baba’s lap in their meditation. It is His grace. It is just like how a child need not die in order to sit on his father’s lap.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The idea is that this phrase - Baba's lap - has been linked with death due to extreme overuse. So for some time if sadhakas use this phrase exclusively for spiritual purposes, that will be best. The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its pure spiritual quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

Baba would bless bhaktas and place them on His lap

There are tens of thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap. People should understand the deeply mystical value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and sadhana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply intimate experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a spiritual practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in sadhana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

"Mahaprayan" means death of mortals - confirm for yourself
from the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary

Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in our Bengal to describe the death of any human being, even ordinary people. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily grand term of bhakti to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no bhaktas ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

Here it should be known that the convention of an annual death day ceremony (i.e. shraddhainjali or mahaprayan) is a foundation of the Islamic tradition. Muslims are well known for this, and their approach of an annual death day ceremony was adopted by the leader of a particular group in AMPS. So no one should think that mahaprayan is some type of sacred event. It is done on the death day anniversary of Muslims.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary 3rd edition on page 848. By checking there, it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it is used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens. And that is the case in this letter also. The term mahaprayan means death, and this is the ideal term for this purpose.

Mahaprayan is only for humans not for Sadguru

Here it should be qualified that there is both a real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being, just like the aforesaid news. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Sadguru Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa. Those doing mahaprayan for Sadguru are hypocrites. On the one side in meditation they ask His grace thinking that He is ever-present, and on the other side they think that Baba has passed away. That is their hypocrisy.

Cause of hate crimes + 3 more

Baba

Cause of hate crimes

Namaskar,

One cause of sin is due to a lack of proper ideological education - i.e. not knowing right from wrong, suffering from a shortage of proper knowledge etc. Because of this deficit, people commit sins. Here, in this letter, we explore how a dearth of psychic pabula leads to sin.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Examples of shortage of psychic pabula

What is meant by a shortage of psychic pabulum, i.e. mental food? In a phrase, we can say a shortage in this arena means a person suffers from a lack of ideological understanding and neo-humanistic education. Their thoughts and ideas are not consistent with logic and reasoning and are not based on the cause of universal welfare. Instead, such persons give way to narrow-mindedness in the form of bias towards caste, race, colour, creed, gender etc. And this manifests in the form of hate crimes, religious fights etc.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "If there is a dearth of intellectual pabulum and the intellectual standard of the people is not high, they can take “dos” to be “don’ts” and vice versa. Take for example, a communal riot where a little innocent boy is killed, and when the person who encourages the riot becomes the people’s leader. Where the intellectual standard of the people is low, people commit blunders – prompted by such leaders they become beasts." (1)

Pervasive problem around the globe

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Those backward countries which have less socio-politico-economic consciousness in the people tend to have more immorality. In such countries the leaders misguide the people in order to collect votes. I call such leaders “political satans” or “political pigs.” Such pigs become leaders only when the intellectual standard of the common people is low. In a country with shortages of physical and intellectual pabula, people ultimately become beasts and commit sins and crimes. To murder a person during a riot is both a crime and a sin. In political clashes innocent people are killed. This is also a crime as well as a sin." (2)

This type of sin happens all over the globe. In the world, citizens systematically raise and slaughter animals and indulge in all kinds of violence. Many inhabitants are prone to racial fights and hatred. Verily such scenes are prevalent everywhere nowadays - all because of a shortage of psychic pabula, i.e. lack of ideological awareness.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

These negative outcomes happen when people do not have a proper ideological and neo-humanistic education. They do not understand that fundamentally humanity is one - created by Parama Purusa. That central idea is missing. Due to a basic lack of awareness in the psychic, intellectual, and psycho-spiritual realms, people cannot think beyond their own little cocoon. So they senselessly destroy and sacrifice animals, and form narrow groups and factions and attack one another. All of this is due to a lack of proper neo-humanistic education.

The overall cause is not due to a wrong philosophy but due to a lack of proper knowledge. To remove this, Baba has given the system of svadhyaya and the rational teachings of Ananda Marga ideology - thousands of discourses. If all are educated and follow those guidelines and principles, then there will not be any problem. It is only because they don’t truly know about neo-humanism that groupism exists. Here are more examples.

How public commonly commit sin

For instance, suppose someone is not aware of the dharmic edict - live and let live. Then in their free time they may go out and kill an animal for sport. There are many who hunt in this way. Because they are not psychically conscious enough to understand the situation, they indulge in sport hunting and callously and brutally kill other living beings. This is all due to a shortage of proper psychic food, i.e. lack of ideological understanding. That is the cause behind their murdering of innocent animals in cold blood.

Likewise, a person may yell a derogatory, racial slur towards someone of another ethnic background. Due to a distinct shortage of dharmic understanding, because he is not aware that all are the loving children of Parama Purusa, this person committed a sin and harmed an innocent person. As soon as one understands that human society is one and all are part of our universal human family, then one cannot even think of abusing and tormenting someone by hurling racial epithets.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

This deficit is what is known as shortage of proper ideological thinking. And that is the root cause of this sin. And there is no shortage of examples whereby people kill, lynch, and randomly shoot innocent citizens. These types of events are on the rise around the globe. Nearly every country and region can look back over the past six months and identify a string of such tragic incidents.

This is also the era where so many simple, yet ill-informed people get indoctrinated into various dogmatic groups. Because people lack the fundamental ability to differentiate between moral and destructive approaches, they are swept into sinful activities, often lured by the flowery or fiery speeches of the leader. Due to a shortage of psychic pabula they are drawn into sinful agendas.

The above are just a few of the very many ways that mentally deficient persons are led onto the path of sin.

Conclusion

Due to a lack of ideological education, people adopt a narrow outlook based on (caste, creed, race, color, ethnicity, gender etc) and plunge into sinful acts and rile others to do the same: Shootings, lynchings, suicide bombs, etc.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

By identifying and addressing this problem - shortage in the psychic arena, i.e. a component of the first cause of sin - so many sinful acts can be eliminated from society. The greater solution is advancing the ideals of neo-humanism. As people gain a greater understanding and respect for the true purpose of their own life as well as their inherent relationship with the rest of creation, they will gain a proper mental outlook and no longer suffer from a shortage of psychic wealth.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Deveshvara

Remembering You

"Tumi eso, tumi eso a'ma'r ghare..." (Prabhat Samgiita #3190)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, please come in my abode, my heart and mind. I am waiting ceaselessly for You; the lamp of hope is burning non-stop for You in the core of my being.

O’ Divine Entity, Baba, You are always so gracious. You come to me in my dreams. Even when awake, I continue thinking about You. You are my everything, Your love is engraved and carved in every pore of my existence - in all my thoughts and works.

Baba, O' Parama Purusa, I always remember You; even by mistake I cannot forget You. You reside deep within, in a very intimate way. You saturate and fill my whole universe with the sweetness of Your love.

Baba, please shower Your causeless grace on everyone and come in my mental abode; You are my everything...

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #3190:

[1] "You come to me in my dreams. Even when awake, I continue thinking about You": Regarding mundane dreams, what one thinks about during the day comes in their dreams at night. Spiritual dreams are different. When an aspirant's mind becomes involved in crude mundane things, then Parama Purusa graces that sadhaka. He appears in his dream; it is His special blessing to bring the aspirant back onto the spiritual path. During such dreams, Parama Purusa infuses the sadhaka's mind with spiritual bliss. Then, even after rising, that spiritual vibration continues to resonate in the mind of the sadhaka, by His grace. That is what is described in this song.

How women lost & will regain their rights

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The status of women in prehistoric human society was the same as that of independent females of any living species. The women, just like the men, spent their days in the lap of nature singing, dancing, laughing and playing. These conditions continued throughout the period when there was no human society as such and continued into the matriarchal age. But when the patriarchal social system came into being, the rights of women began gradually to be curtailed.” (1)

History bears testimony that decades ago - around the globe - females did not have any rights. They were subservient to males in all respects. Females were viewed as not having the same potentialities of men - as if they were far inferior. Because of this repression and suppression, their service to society was also limited in scope. In many regions, females have since gained freedom, and people now recognise that females are not less in any way. They are comparable to men in all types of fields. Earlier they were subservient and their potential was suppressed. The key point is that freedom is important.

So when working with others one must not suppress them, otherwise society will not benefit from their full potential. It is equally true in unit families as in the larger society.

Religions & blind faith

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Most religions demand blind faith rather than rationality from their followers. “Don't argue,” they proclaim. “Accept the teachings of the scriptures for they are the direct word of God.” The cunning intellectuals of the past imposed the importance of blind faith on the minds of their gullible followers. They told them to obey the teachings, rational or irrational, otherwise there would be no respite from the endless suffering of human life, no other path to take them to the eternal bliss of heaven.”

“In most cases religions took advantage of human weaknesses, crippled the people's rationality, and sapped their strength, thus facilitating their exploitation by the religious traders. When the vitality and strength of the masses remains unexpressed, the exploiters will be able to exploit them in the economic and other spheres of life for a long time with relative ease. In the annals of human history it can be seen in all ages that the various exploiters were the patrons and the preachers of religion.”

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Dharma is altogether different from religion for it teaches human beings to advance while mercilessly smashing all obstacles that thwart human progress. Its inherent qualities are subtle analysis, ideological strength and the brilliance of valour. That's why the vested interests cannot tolerate it and use all their strength and machinery to oppose it. They claim they are protecting religion. The greater the conflict between person and person, between community and community, between state and state, the greater is their advantage. But when many people form a collective mind through sincere sacrifice and ardent practice while advancing towards the realization of oneness with the Supreme, it will be difficult to continue exploiting people on any pretext." Amount of sleep

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The first bad habit is nidra or sleep. Sleep is a state that creates a feeling of vacuity after it is over. That is, immediately after waking up people forget where they were or what they were doing before sleeping. They lose the sense of time. “What’s the time now?” they ask, forgetting whether it is day or night. If people sleep too much for days on end, this mental disorientation persists for a long time. “Is it day or night? What time is it?” they ask, confused. If this continues, their receptive and retentive powers decrease resulting in an almost total loss of mental power. They become dull, and lack courage to face life’s problems. They may have physical strength, but they lack courage. The ancient people believed that excessive sleep is good for health, but this is not the case. Rather, too much sleep not only impairs the health, but has an adverse effect on the mind." (1)

In materialistic societies, it is taught that 8 hours of sleep is essential. But that is not correct. If one sleeps deeply, then four hours of sleep is sufficient. One will awaken feeling revived and refreshed. In contrast, if one does not sleep deeply then the body will not be properly repaired nor restored. So the amount of time is not the operative factor. Rather, the depth of sleep is the key point. True sleep means a dreamless sleep - then both mind and body are quickly restored. In deep sleep, there is a complete vacuum, and one is not aware about the passage of time. In that state, only a few hours of sleep are needed.

Liberation from bondage is a must - in all realms

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The effort to attain liberation from economic bondage, political slavery and all sorts of social dependence in the physical world, is the liberation from staticity in the crude world. In order to attain liberation from worldly bondages of this sort, human beings will have to make conscious efforts.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “If a certain country is held in bondage to another country, then that subjugated country will have to wage war in order to attain liberation from the chains of slavery. That is why liberation from worldly bondages is essential for human beings. We have noticed that wherever there is worldly subservience – whether economic, political or social – the proper development of the innate qualities, or the genius of human beings, remains remote. That is why in every sphere of life liberation is necessary; liberation from the bondage of staticity is a must.” (1)

Why some humans are reborn as cats

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Whether one be a philanthropist or a star athlete, one desires to see what is written about them in the newspaper. This means that in trying to do some good work, what are they really doing? They are falling under the sway of one propensity, the propensity of greed. Now if this act is encouraged by the society, that is, if the newspapers dedicate a lot of attention to such news, or if people in general say, “Sir, whatever you are doing is unparalleled in history. Sir, we are not eulogizing you. We are simply telling the truth” – if they praise such a person in this way and then try to extract some money from them (there are such intelligent people around) – then what does it amount to indirectly? The propensity of greed increases. Which animal is the greediest among the animals with which we are all very familiar? It does not like to give up greed in spite of ill treatment and humiliations. It is the cat. Yes, after moving a few steps ahead, the cat forgets that it was beaten. So, that particular person is reborn as a cat after death, because that body affords an opportunity for the satiation of their greed. When the housewife looks around inattentively, the cat sneaks into the kitchen through the small opening in order to reach the milk or fish in the kitchen. So in order to exhaust the samskáras one needs an appropriate body. Some people obtain a new body immediately after death and others obtain it later. But one has to obtain it somehow."
"One who is doing philanthropic work today, tries to find out tomorrow whether or not their name appeared in the newspaper. They have no desire to read the other news. They read the news that relates to themselves twenty times but do not go through the other news with much enthusiasm. If someone asks they might say that today there was only one important piece of news, nothing else. That is how a person comes under the sway of a propensity and remains subject to the cycle of birth and rebirth." (1)
