Profit motive in medical industry + 6 more

Baba
Profit motive in medical industry

Namaskar,

In capitalism, the profit motive is reigning supreme in all realms of life, including in the field of medicine where greed and business-minded ventures have become more prevalent. That is why the once noble field of 'treating the sick' has turned into a profit-seeking, medical profession - where the allurement of the dollar is paramount.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Sadly, this has spelled disaster for patients throughout the globe. Due to financial pressures and greed, a growing number of doctors no longer focus on the needs of the patient, but rather on how their own medical business can be more profitable. This is in stark opposition to our Proutistic model which is geared towards serving others. The motive in Prout’s medical system is “for the welfare of the patient”, not “in order to make a profit.” Prout is based on service psychology. And we will discuss the ramifications of this in the field of medicine. First let us see how this profit motive manifests itself in today's medical field.

Unfortunately, there is a minority of good doctors and we appreciate their dedication and service. This following letter deals with bad doctors.

Profit-seeking doctors create chaos

Around the globe, the field of medicine has turned into a profit-making machine. And there are all kinds of tricks done in order to secure a greater margin of income.

(A) For example in various countries, where the number of doctors far surpasses the number of paying patients, doctors have a shortage of clients, i.e. the market is not big. In that case, doctors regularly perform operations and administer medicines that are not needed. Arm surgery or an open-heart operation will be performed solely for the doctor's wallet and not because that is in the patient's best interest. That is one of the horrors going on.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(B) Another ploy that is occurring is that quack doctors - those who are below average and cannot get patients - will give a commission to taxi cab drivers, rickshaw wallahs, and tour guides etc to bring patients to their office. When a person new in town gets sick or injured - whether they be a villager or an overseas tourist - then they will be led to this quack doctor. All because this doctor is paying locals to bring them patients.

(C) In some top capitalist countries, the scandals are occurring on a much larger level. Oftentimes doctors themselves are just turned into laborers in the hands of hospital officials and business executives. That is one epidemic. The other is that doctors will order a myriad of expensive tests just to create a large bill, which will either go to the patient, insurance company, or both. And behind closed doors, pharmaceutical giants are giving pressure and incentives to doctors who prescribe their drugs. These are a few of the many ills occurring in the scandalous medical profession where capitalism is well-established.

(D) Side by side, medical researchers will not investigate cures to diseases that are less commonly known because there are less patients - i.e. less customers - suffering from that type of disease. Whereas, every pharmacy is inventing newer high blood pressure medicines because there is huge money to be made. So that which is needed is not done and that which is not needed is done. All because of the profit-motive way of doctoring. We see a variety of schemes by today's medical executives in order to maximise profits. And in all cases the one who suffers and pays the most is the patient.

Example: nasty doctors

Here below the Propounder of Prout, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, points out what injustices doctors do to their patients in order to bankroll their medical business.

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says, "Of all the doctors you have come across, how many are idealistic and dutiful? If you visit a doctor, he will prescribe strong medicines for a light illness. This will inevitably be the case if he owns his own dispensary." (1)

Here the point is that in the present-day capitalist model, the doctor orders the medicine so that he can turn a profit. The well-being of the patient is not the priority. Under the banner of Prout, there will be a fundamental shift. A medical model based on service psychology puts the needs of the patient as the singular and sole priority. In that case, medicine will only be prescribed when that is best for the patient.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout philosophy states, "The welfare of the patient should be the main aim of the medical profession." (2)

Medical care: Prout policies

What are the types of changes we will see in the field of medicine. Here below Baba gives a glimpse of what lies ahead and what we can expect to see with regards to the practice of medicine and health care.

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says, "Doctors should start service cooperatives. These cooperatives may also be called physicians service cooperatives. Suppose a doctor is not able to open his own practice, he may form a service cooperative with five or ten other doctors. Such a cooperative is an intellectual service cooperative. Doctors who have less capital and cannot afford to establish their own practice can also work in this type of cooperative. Such a system will solve the unemployment problem of doctors. In addition, doctors can start research through these cooperatives." (3)

When doctors form cooperatives and are not at the mercy of the almighty dollar, then the field of medicine will embark into a new era. And not only doctors cooperatives, but there will be so many deep-seated changes that will spell the end to the present-day profit-oriented medical businesses and give rise to community oriented health-care services where the welfare of the patient is first and foremost.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And verily that is the main difference between Prout and capitalism - the seed outlook of life. Regardless of all the plans and programs, the basic vision of Prout and capitalism differs in their most fundamental appeal. Prout mandates that the need of the day should be addressed in order to serve the people, whereas capitalism dictates that business should be done where there is the opportunity to make a profit. And these are wholly oppositional outlooks.

That is why as the Proutistic model manifests in social life, there will be widespread changes quite quickly. And these will become apparent in the field of medicine and health care as well. The vision of Prout is on the way. And with it, today's profit oriented healthcare system will be revamped into a service-oriented approach that addresses the true needs of the people.

Prout philosophy states, "The medical profession as such has more to do with social service than with professionalism. Social service is the main aim of the medical profession....it cannot be categorized as a business under any circumstances." (4)

Conclusion

Nowadays, the modus operandi of the field of healthcare is to turn a profit. Money is the driving force behind so-called patient care, research, and numerous other aspects of the healthcare arena. Unfortunately, the biggest loser is the patient who is viewed as a pawn for making money. The current medical model puts the patient’s needs aside in favour of making a profit. The Proutistic model is a revolutionary shift where doctors are trained and supported in evaluating each patient as a human who needs help. In that case better medical care is given and the patient’s well-being, not the profit, is the focal point.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

At present, medical services are run primarily by the profit motive. In a neo-humanistic society, the patient's medical care and service to patients will not be based on the business motive, rather the service motive. Nobody will be allowed to profit on the tragedy and suffering of a patient. Those who exploit the suffering patient and earn huge money are vultures. We should follow Prout and try to establish a society where medical care is given on a service motive and all medical requirements should be guaranteed for all. Nobody should think that they are dying due to lack of medical care. So service motive, not profit motive, is the only way to care for patients.

In Him,
Pradiip

~ In-depth study ~

Prout philosophy states, "No matter what country you belong to, tell me honestly, how many doctors can you really trust and respect? Among the doctors you know, you may believe in one or two at the most, but those who have won your faith may or may not command your respect. In other words, the doctors whom you believe in, who can cure a patient, are not accessible because they cost too much." (5)

Problem created by doctors in some countries

Prout philosophy states, "Countless complaints can be made against doctors and the medical profession. Although it would take a lot of space to list them all, let me briefly mention a few: patients have to settle for adulterated medicines unless they bribe the pharmacist; sweepers, orderlies and nurses do not take proper care of a patient’s needs unless they are tipped; a patient writhing in pain may be rebuked instead of being given medicine; if one does not call the doctor at least once for a personal consultation so that that doctor can earn some extra money, one may be unable to secure a bed on one’s next visit to the hospital; a medicine that is supposedly out of stock in the hospital can be illegally purchased in a nearby shop at an exorbitant price; without bribing the doctor a sick patient will not be admitted to the hospital; during the compulsory medical examination for a new job, all the medical staff put out their hand for a bribe; the doctor in collusion with the optician fails many people in their eye tests so that they will have to buy glasses; hospital patients are served food which is cheaper and of poorer quality than what they are entitled to; milk and fruits reserved for patients are consumed by the hospital staff; spurious drugs and injections are administered to patients. Such grievances are endless. Some are extremely serious, involving accusations of such irresponsibility that it is difficult to believe that people actually have these experiences." (6)

Problem in some countries

The below story shows what happens when there is a surplus of doctors in a given area or country. In that case, those doctors resort to certain strategies to boost their income. To resolve this problem, Baba has given a wonderful solution.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar states, "Let me recount an incident that occurred several years ago. In 1940 I went to a homoeopathic pharmacy. With me was a boy of twelve or thirteen, the younger brother of an acquaintance. I had gone there for some medicine for the boy. The doctor took pains to examine the boy properly, then prescribed some medicine. He said, “Please return with his medical report on Saturday afternoon.” I replied, “Will Saturday morning not do? On Saturday afternoon I will be going out of town; I will be going home.” Further discussion revealed that we came from the same district and our homes came under the jurisdiction of adjacent police stations on opposite sides of a river. The doctor then asked me to return the medicine and said, “I am giving you another medicine.” When I asked why he said, “Both medicines are good, but I give the first medicine to people I do not know because it takes a little longer to cure the patient, hence I sell more medicine.”"
“This incident is neither to the doctor’s credit nor to that of society. The doctor is losing his character due to poverty, caused in turn by a defective social system – isn’t this true?”
Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar states, “Sociologists will agree that it is not desirable for those who are involved in saving lives to face financial difficulties. If in any country the people believe that they have more doctors than necessary, the study of medicine should be strictly supervised so that only competent and talented students have the opportunity to become doctors. That way, by reducing the number of unwanted doctors, those who enter the medical profession will be able to earn sufficient money with the cooperation of society and the state. In the absence of want, there is no risk of their losing their character.” (7)

Small reflections of Your infinite charm

PS Intro: This below Prabhat Samgiita highlights the divine glory and greatness of Parama Purusa.

"Tumi, kotháy chile kotháy, tháko keu tá jáne ná..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0540)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purus'a, where were You - where You live, nobody knows. I have been searching all over and looking everywhere for You. You are the smallest of the small and the most vast of the vast. I have not been able to find You anywhere. Baba, those who want You, ultimately You make them Yours and merge them into Your Divine Self. Infinite Entity, You are boundless and cannot be held. Parama Purus'a, where do You reside - nobody knows.

O’ Parama Purus'a Baba, the Greatest One, in this entire universe, no single manifestation can express Your full beauty. The moon's smile, the ocean breeze, the smiling flower, the sweet charming sky, all these beautiful expressions were created by You. You have filled this world with Your diverse presentations, yet they are not Your True Self, nor Your full Personality. They cannot embody Your full sweetness. All these presentations are mere small reflections of Your infinite charm. Baba, Ananta, You are limitless. Your full glory cannot be expressed in words, shapes, or forms.

O’ Parama Purusa, You are so merciful. In my ideation and in my meditation, my every atom and molecule are dancing in Your flow. It is Your krpa’. You do everything for me. Baba, You have been playing the spiritual flute since time immemorial, and You will continue up to eternity. By this way, You have been attracting and drawing me closer to You. Your grand refulgence is boundless and unfathomable.

Parama Purus'a, where have You been, where do You reside - nobody knows. Baba, bless me, please have a karun’a’ on me...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #0540:

[1] This above Prabhat Samgiita expresses how Parama Purusa is more vast than the vast and smaller than the small. Because of this one cannot find Him with their mundane senses. And that is what is explained in this below teaching as well.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "On the one hand Parama Purus'a is very vast; on the other hand He is very small. He is so vast that you cannot fully see Him. In Sam'skrta, there are a few words to describe something very vast: visha'la, vira't'a, brhat, etc. Out of these, the words vira't'a and brhat are used to describe an entity which is immeasurably vast, and visha'la is used for an entity which may be vast, but can be measured. For instance, the Himalayan mountains are very vast in size, but still they can be measured in terms of miles, from south to north and from east to west. In the scriptures it has been said.

Brhacca taddivyam acintyaru'pam'...

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Parama Purus'a is extremely vast: then how can you see such a vast Entity with your dim vision? It is impossible. And besides seeing such a divine effulgence, your eyes will be blinded; your vision will be completely lost."

Su'ks'macca tat su'ksmataram' vibhati

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Parama Purus'a is not only vast. He is small as well – so small, so subtle that you cannot see Him with your physical eyes. Human ocular power is extremely limited: if an object is very vast it cannot be seen, and if it is very small and subtle it cannot be seen either." (1)

[2] These below quotes state that one cannot go close to Him and still remain separate. When one gets closer and closer, then by His grace, the bhakta will merge in Him - just like a piece of salt gets merged in the ocean, it can no longer remain a separate grain of salt.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "If a salt doll goes to fathom the sea, it will certainly melt and become the sea itself. Similarly, if the knower of the Supreme Consciousness goes to fathom the Supreme, he merges in the sea of Consciousness and becomes Supreme himself. Be constantly absorbed in the thought of the Supreme Consciousness and you too will become Supreme." (2)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "If a salt doll goes to measure the sea, it will melt into it. Neither can it measure the sea, nor will it ever return, its existence will merge into the vastness of the sea, releasing it from all cares and worries. If one wishes to take the form of the sea, one will have to become the sea itself; there is no other way. None of His qualities has any limit. His fragmentary manifestations are all passing through unlimited forms, due to His ceaseless imaginative flow: none of them is an end in itself." (3)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The spiritual aspirant hears the various sounds of onm'ka'ra or pran'ava [like the sound of the flute] at various stages, during deep sa'dhana', during sweet sa'dhana'. The sound is called Krs'n'a’s muraliidhvani. The sa'dhaka becomes mad because of this sound and goes deeper and attains Ra'dha' bha'va more and more, and rushes headlong forward." (4)

Horrors of running after carnal desires

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Contentment is not at all possible if the individual is running after carnal pleasures like a beast. As a result of extroversial analysis, the objects of enjoyments go on increasing both in number and abstraction and that is why ones mental flow never gets any rest. Under such circumstances how can one attain perfect peace of mind?" (1)

Note: Here Baba is warning us how those involved in the sensual pursuits of materialism will never find satisfaction in life. Nowadays in materialistic communities, people are plunged in pornography, gay / lesbian living, and other sex-oriented pursuits. The gay community is particularly notorious - and in some places they even indulge in group sex at night in the public parks. Seeing this, impressionable youths get misdirected. Through films, advertisements, and everyday circumstances, youths are indoctrinated into the false notion that they can find fulfillment and happiness through sensual pleasures. In the end, so many get degraded, contract diseases, and live of life of frustration and suffering, and undergo a premature death. This is the tragedy nowadays. People are not taught how to truly satisfy their human longing - how to achieve a real state of contentment and bliss. They never learn how to goad the mind towards Parama Purusa and instead drown in the mire and wasteland of animalistic sensuality.

How to recognise demons

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “I have already said that the task of intellect is to properly utilize all the properties of the universe, of the expressed world. But there are some selfish people in the world who are not in favour of the maximum utilization of mundane wealth, because they fear the control of the developed intellect over the material forces; and selfish people do not like that. They do not want anyone except themselves or a handful of their own group to attain any progress. Rather they would be happy to see that the individual and collective progress of others gets jeopardized.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Self-seeking people do not want the collective intellect of the human race to be utilized for the welfare of the entire human race; rather they, in the name of humanity, want to perpetuate divisive tendencies in society, because if they succeed in creating a rift in human society, that will pave the way for their personal benefit or self-aggrandizement. Thus they concoct various so-called scriptures and formulate all kinds of logic. They maintain to humanity that the different races in this world are not equal. Thus instead of considering the interests of the entire human society, they give preference to the interests of a particular community. This loud-mouthed propaganda in favour of a particular community, this parading of irrational logic, this sort of fallacious argument, all combine to stifle the spontaneous growth of human intellect. This sort of mentality is called dogma." (1)

Key quality of a righteous person

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “A person who wants to promote others’ welfare, a person who wants to serve the entire humanity, must keep away from dogma. In addition to that, he or she will have to staunchly resist dogma. It is not enough to keep away from something which is considered a veritable sin, it is not enough to lodge only verbal protest against sin – one will have to against it. This is the greatest criterion of a truly righteous person." (1)

Ac. Mantracetananda: Calls for silent action against Rudrananda & his sycophants

Courtesy of WhatApp - STO Forum:  It is obvious that this below news is not original content by Ananda Marga Universal Forum.

Attire for death ceremonies + 2 more

Baba
Attire for death ceremonies

Namaskar,

When a person dies, then what colour clothes should we wear to their death ceremony? For example, some female Christians wear a black dress when their spouse dies. In the religions around the world, similar provisions of wearing particular clothes exist. What does AM philosophy recommend on this matter?

Vibration of colour

Every colour has a vibration. For example, white colour represents a sattvika feeling. It creates a soothing good feeling in the mind. The colour red generates feelings of himsa (violence) feeling. According to AM philosophy, colour does not represent psychological feeling, but rather each colour affects the mind according to the vibration of the colour. Saffron colour represents sacrifice; and, black has the vibration of sorrow and depression. When people use a specific colour of dress for an occasion it is because of what they have been following as tradition. It is not based on the vibration of the colours.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Which colour & attire in sad occasion

When we are surrounded by sadness; we should use a colour which removes that sadness. But if we use black colour which generates a vibration of sadness then it will not work, it will make the situation worse. That is why when there is sorrow or darkness, then using black colour will increase the sorrow further. That is why it is not recommended to use black colour when attending a death ceremony (shava-satka’ra). One can wear white, but AM philosophy does not recommend any specific colour. This is because Ananda Marga is manava dharma which is for all human beings irrespective of caste, colour, age, race, ethnicity, geographical location etc. So AM sadhakas live everywhere in the world including in rich and poor countries, very hot to very cold climates etc. So recommending a dress code in these circumstances is not appropriate. That is why in AM there is no dress code for observing death ceremonies.

AM philosophy says the dress code should be appropriately made for different types of climatic conditions, needs of people at different locations. Yes---He guides that people should cover their bodies when they go out of the house, which is good for society. But which type of dress to use there is no restriction as long as the body is covered. The question of who is going to wear pants, who is going to wear kurta is according to availability of clothes, and the location where one lives. If one is a poor farmer, how can one afford to use a dhoti or pants? Similarly, if one works on mountains, then their dress will be different, as per the needs of circumstances one is in.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

So Ananda Marga is for all. One can die anywhere, and when rules are written for human dharma, then that should be followed. By considering all these factors, AM philosophy made guidelines which can be easily followed by all as well as which are logical. While white dress is good, but it is not strictly recommended that one would wear white colour dress in the event of death. But according to rule, as much as possible one should not wear black colour dress in the event of death because of aforementioned effect of black colour vibration and so should not be used. But if possible white colour can be used because white has a satvik vibration which will lead to reducing the darkness around.

One example: The king of Thailand died in recent years. People were ordered to mourn his death for an entire year, and then after a year it was decided that his body will be burnt. On this occasion it was ordered that whoever has been a public employee in the past or present, as well as people who came from abroad, will wear black dress. Everyone who was present had to wear black clothes. This is dogma. There is no such logic on why such dress colour was ordered. It might be the case that someone has started such a tradition before and people are following it blindly.

AM Guideline: attire

The summary is AM is for everybody, and so in AM there are no specific guidelines in using dress type and colour in observing death ceremonies. People live in very diverse climatic conditions; some live in very cold climates, while others live in extreme hot climates. People in cold climates need to cover their whole body, whereas people in hot climates use dress so their body can get air, and will not be affected by extreme heat. If there were specific rules, then people who live in extreme climatic areas may feel that they are not able to adhere to strict guidelines of manava dharma. For that reason, there is no specific guideline. But in the so called religions around the world, people who follow them blindly buy clothes for specific ceremonies (black dress for the death ceremony).
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

But people who are new in Ananda Marga and whose ancestors were Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus or any other religion, may even try to follow what their ancestors did and follow family traditions. But according to AM philosophy there is no dress type or colour code for death ceremonies. If one has the option, they can wear white but not black. Wearing black dress is a dogma, and one should reject that approach.

In Him,
Nirakara

One note here is that colour is mentioned in the sense of matter (such as dress) but not the colour of human skin. All humans are equal, and skin colour is not a representation of how one thinks. But certainly the colour of material objects has a vibration; one who is crude may not feel it but others can recognize it.

Sad occasion: white attire

Here below is an English summary of Baba’s original Hindi teaching of Svastik Jhan'd'a' (1970).

Various colours each have their own particular effect on the human mind. White colour is the symbol of purity. There is an old tradition in India that at the time of sad occasions they used to wear white coloured dress. That means the pain which has come in the mind due to loss, that loss they wanted to remove by this white coloured attire or garment. Because of this, people used to wear white dress. The colour of sadness is black. If someone uses black dress in an attempt to remove their pain or agony, in result they will only increase their suffering. Because of this, in any sad occasion or mourning ceremony, black colour should never be used. One should use white dress. (English summary)

Why anger is your enemy

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “When this anger creates its own vibrations in the mind, it exerts a tremendous influence on the nerve cells in a very short time, and causes disarray in the thinking process. The restlessness of the nerve cells causes a violent vibrational agitation in the nerve fibres, and as a result, the whole body starts trembling; the flow of blood to some parts of the body increases, and the functioning of the heart is disturbed. There is a tremendous deterioration of health. Such a person is easily defeated in any fight. Anger leads to premature death. This is not all. During anger the power of one’s thinking is impaired. Even long after the anger subsides, this state continues, and the constant brooding of the mind disturbs one’s spiritual sádhaná. So we see that the vrtti [propensity] of anger harms the body and stuns the mind and creates obstacles for spiritual progress. Shiva, the great yogi, was well aware of this truth, and thus He clearly stated, Krodha eva mahán shatruh [“Anger is a great enemy”].” (1)

Oppose those who invented differentiations

Ananda Marga ideology says, “Just see the case of air, light, water, respirations and everything. The need for these things is the same for all individuals. There have been no differentiations. These differentiations that we see in society are creations of vested interests, creations of depraved persons, of degenerated, immoral people. So you should not support these actional defects of immoral persons. You should follow the divine vibrational system, that is, you must not try to find any differentiations among individuals. “Devábhágaḿ yathápúrve saḿjánáná upásate.” It is the wont of divine expressions that there be no differentiations, no class of exploiters and exploited. That is, this wont of not creating any differentiations was not only their duty, it was their upásaná, the desideratum of their existential march.”
“Samáni va ákuti”. When everything cometh from the same source, from the same Progenitor, and when finally everything goeth back to the same desideratum, there must be the same aspirations, the same longing, in the heart of each and every individual. But due to the depraving actions of immoral people, those exploited, those downtrodden people are forced to forget their goal. They are drifted away from the desideratum of their life. This should not be done. Everybody should get the chance to develop their natural longings for Him.” (1)

Attaining perfection in sadhana + 4 more

Baba

Attaining perfection in sadhana

Namaskar,

The practice of sadhana is highly important and indispensable. Yet some think that the idea of gaining perfection (siddhi) in sadhana is beyond their grasp. However, Baba is the Sadguru and He has given us the perfect formula for attaining siddhi in our sadhana.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Step by step

Actually, every human being has come onto this earth and developed a particular skill or specialty to a high degree. This is quite evident in everyone's life, and especially in the life of a sadhaka. Already, one has achieved siddhi in numerous realms of their existence.

Siddhi in the mundane realm occurs in distinct stages. With sincere effort, little by little, a person develops some skill in a given arena and in the next stage it becomes one's habit. And then through perseverance and continued engagement that practice or that skill becomes one's nature. In which case the person has achieved a sort of perfection, siddhi with that activity.

Examples of siddhis you may have

For example, take the case of walking. At the beginning babies just crawl. No one comes into this world walking. Slowly those infants try to stand up, and they fall down. Then they stand up and take a step, and fall down again. Yet, through this trial and error process, that young child learns to walk very smoothly and easily, and gains siddhi in walking.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And verily there are so many activities in which most every human achieve the state of siddhi:
  • Running
  • Talking
  • Bicycling
  • Swimming
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Learning a 2nd language
At the beginning when learning to read one has to differentiate between all the letters and sound them out one at a time. But with continued practice one develops that habit and finally it becomes their nature and wherein merely looking at the word or phrase one can read it easily. There is no need to go letter by letter. In that way countless people have achieved siddhi in a given pursuit.

Examples: siddhi in various fields

Take the case of typing or keyboarding. Many who use computers have achieved siddhi in this arena. Initially though, in the beginning typing was difficult and awkward - not facile. After sustained practice a person becomes more accustomed to using the keyboard and it becomes their habit. After further practice, the process of typing becomes their nature. Then without even consciously thinking the fingers link up with the proper key - automatically, naturally. In that case, one has attained siddhi in the field of keyboarding.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

So the state of siddhi comes after sincere practice and continued efforts. And in various fields one has attained siddhi: running, talking, bicycling, swimming, reading, writing, learning a 2nd language.

But if one does not practice that skill - whether it be walking, reading, typing, or driving, etc - then one will not gain siddhi in that sphere. In that case the person will have to take care to practice more and more, otherwise they will just be a novice at that activity.

There is so much evidence and numerous examples how one has attained various siddhis in life such as in typing, bicycling, driving, reading, walking etc. Baba encourages us that the stance of spiritual siddhi (perfection) can be surely achieved in one's sadhana also.

What is siddhi in sadhana

In our sahaja yoga system consisting of lessons one thru six, a key point is the process of mantra japa - i.e. mantra repetition. Proper and sincere repetition of the mantra brings profound changes in one's physical and mental existence. During proper japa, the spine straightens, the ectoplasmic cells become distinctly vibrated, and the mind gets elevated. All these transformations occur as the kundalini rises.

Baba guides us that when the repetition of our two syllable mantra becomes habit, and one's entire existence is rushing towards Parama Purusa with every inhalation and exhalation - with every mantra japa, then this exalted stated is one step closer to mantra siddhi, i.e. the perfection of mantra repetition. For some, such an attainment seems beyond their capability; yet with sustained and sincere efforts everyone can attain siddhi.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

First bit difficult, then habit, then nature

At first when one learns sadhana and repeats their mantra it may seem not very easy. And in some cases new practitioners forget their mantra entirely. Yet through sincere efforts the repetition of the mantra becomes more and more regular until finally it becomes completely natural.

Step by step, through regular practice one’s mantra repetition in sadhana becomes more comfortable - i.e. habitual. Then it will just start automatically when the idea of Parama Purusa enters the mind. And finally, during one's every breath the mantra is always repeated, constantly.

Here Baba beautifully explains how this whole entire process takes place in sadhana and He guides us that all Ananda Margiis can and will achieve this high degree of proficiency or perfection in their sadhana.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology says, "What's the difference between habit and nature? When habit becomes one with your existence, it is called nature...'Now it is time for my meditation', what is it? You are trying to habituate yourself. But when you cannot live without puja, then it has become your nature. Try to make it what - habit or nature? Nature. I never take a drop of water without doing puja. Why? It has become my nature. And I want that all of you should make it your nature also."
"When auto-suggestion (mantra repetition) will become your nature, what will happen? While sleeping you will be repeating that japa (repetition of mantra) in your unconscious mind. You are sleeping, so conscious mind is not active. You are not having any dream, so your sub-conscious mind is also not active. But unconscious mind is there. Automatically there will be japa. 24 hours you are doing Pun'ya. While you are sleeping, you will be engaged in doing japa and using your incantation." (1)

Conclusion

The key point to achieving siddhi in any field is regularity and sincerity. If one engages in that endeavour, then gradually the mind will become habituated. Just think how when a person first learns typing or keyboarding. As discussed above, it is awkward and cumbersome. With daily practice, typing becomes easier, and over time one will master it. Without thinking, the hand will dance across the keyboard. That is siddhi in typing. In contrast, if one never practices, they will never learn. They will never be siddhi in that field. And those who practice regularly and sincerely - then no matter the enterprise - they are sure to attain siddhi in that endeavour.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

So those who are vigilant in sadhana - earnestly practicing their lessons - will surely become siddha in meditation, i.e. without any effort the mind will reach to Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "You have been wandering through the labyrinth of a myriad of lives. You have been ever advancing toward this stage. Knowingly or unknowingly, you are being drawn unto Him. This is the summum bonum of life. As long as you have not realized Him, there is no siddhi in your life." (2)

at His feet,
Ananda

~ In-depth study ~

Siddhi in sadhana

Here Baba explains further how, by the grace of Parama Purusa and through the constant practice of ideating on Parama Purusa, an ordinary sadhaka attains siddhi in their life.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Now how can one attain siddhi through the practice of yoga? The jiiva'tma' will take the ideation of Parama'tma', and then the former will become one with the latter. How is it possible for the microcosm to become Macrocosm? The Macrocosm, or Parama Purus'a, has one unique characteristic, and that characteristic is, whoever ideates on Him becomes one with Him." (3)

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Sa'dhakas know the secret of becoming great. Thus the basic spirit of rasa sa'dhana' is to direct one's individual desires and longings towards Parama Purus'a. Only in this way can a sa'dhaka achieve fulfillment (rddhi) and success (siddhi)." (4)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Every mantra is thus sonic or vibrational and is vibrating simultaneously in the Cosmic system and in the unit body. When, with the help of a mantra, a person finally establishes the parallelism of the unit ectoplasmic vibration with the Cosmic vibration, that person gets mantra siddhi...a person establishes parallelism between his external physical vibration and his internal ectoplasmic vibration, and then raises this to the spiritual level. The culmination of this process in the achievement of the final spiritual goal is called mantra siddhi. " (5)

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Sa'dhana' or intuitional practice means an effort to break through the barrier of this smallness, and Siddhi or beatitude is the state, wherein the barrier has been broken through." (6)

Another example

When one starts driving it is difficult. At first, one cannot keep their car, bicycle, scooter, horse, donkey, rickshaw from swerving from one side to the other - even when driving on a very straight road. In that early stage even the easiest aspects of driving are hard for the new driver. But through ongoing practice and sincere efforts, driving  becomes one's habit until later on finally it becomes one's nature. At that point one need not actively think about driving. Just the driver does everything automatically.

Difference between believers & non-believers

Ananda Marga ideology states, “The word “godly” and “god-fearing” do not have the same meaning. Behind godliness is a soul-stirring sentiment – an ardent zeal to realize one’s true Self; and the reason behind the fear of God is the important attempt to escape from the consequential suffering of one’s misdeeds. Yet the latter is still superior to the atheists, because at least for fear of divine punishment they refrain from sinful acts. The greatest advantage of the theists is that they do not endure the pangs of internal clash. But no matter how brazenly sceptics indulge in tall talks or sharpen the edge of their verbal weapons to win in an argument, there is always a fight going on in their minds. Reading a few pages of a book or listening to the eloquences of a few speakers, they seek to violate their own nature. With their fragmental external knowledge they try to struggle against the indivisible Supreme Entity, and in the end, being defeated, they say, “If He does exist, then why can’t we find Him?” Yet all the while their inner selves lament within them.” (1)

Note: There are three key and important points from the above teaching.

(1) The religions preach that one must be God-fearing, otherwise God will punish and destroy you. They think that is the best possible relationship one can have with the Divine, i.e to be God-fearing. According to Ananda Marga philosophy, fear is the worst type of relation with God. If one fears Him they will not like to go close to Him. In which case, one can never become one with that Supreme Entity. So it is very obvious that by this religious formula, no one can realize God.

(2) The teachings of Ananda Marga are the topmost: Ananda Marga preaches that one should cultivate love for the Divine Entity. By that way, the bhakta wishes to go close to Him and ultimately becomes one with Him, by His grace.

(3) The status of atheists is worse than followers of the dogmatic religions. Religious adherents refrain from doing bad due to fear of the Lord. But atheists have two problems. First, they do not have any genuine, dharmic rules in their life. Secondly, such atheists perpetually suffer from existential issues. With their logic they say they do not believe in God and try to disprove His existence, yet their heart tells them otherwise. Then their logical mind retorts, “If God exists then why can I not see Him?” So they live in a perpetual dilemma—always in limbo. The all-knowing Baba knows everyone's thoughts, and He says that no one is an atheist. In sum, the condition of such atheists is pathetic as they live in perpetual crisis and misery.

Poison of religion & cure

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Most religions demand blind faith rather than rationality from their followers. “Don't argue,” they proclaim. “Accept the teachings of the scriptures for they are the direct word of God.” The cunning intellectuals of the past imposed the importance of blind faith on the minds of their gullible followers. They told them to obey the teachings, rational or irrational, otherwise there would be no respite from the endless suffering of human life, no other path to take them to the eternal bliss of heaven.”

“In most cases religions took advantage of human weaknesses, crippled the people's rationality, and sapped their strength, thus facilitating their exploitation by the religious traders. When the vitality and strength of the masses remains unexpressed, the exploiters will be able to exploit them in the economic and other spheres of life for a long time with relative ease. In the annals of human history it can be seen in all ages that the various exploiters were the patrons and the preachers of religion.”

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Dharma is altogether different from religion for it teaches human beings to advance while mercilessly smashing all obstacles that thwart human progress. Its inherent qualities are subtle analysis, ideological strength and the brilliance of valour. That's why the vested interests cannot tolerate it and use all their strength and machinery to oppose it. They claim they are protecting religion. The greater the conflict between person and person, between community and community, between state and state, the greater is their advantage. But when many people form a collective mind through sincere sacrifice and ardent practice while advancing towards the realization of oneness with the Supreme, it will be difficult to continue exploiting people on any pretext."

How service becomes useless

Ananda Marga ideology states, “When you perform acts with the ideation that the person served is Náráyańa, there is no possibility of arrogance or the desire for fame growing in your mind. Then you will realize that through the grace of Náráyańa you have been given the opportunity of serving Náráyańa. Our hands and feet are not ours, they are His, and by serving Himself with those hands and feet, He sports with Himself. Such an action is an action without attachment. Only in this way can one attain salvation from the bondage of Karma. You must feel that the person served is Brahma. The person served is a finite manifestation of Him. Never, even by mistake, take the object as a human being.” (1)

According to the teachings of Ananda Marga philosophy, for every action there is a reaction. Good deeds yield positive reactions, and bad deeds yield adverse reactions. When serving an infirm person, you should not think that, “This person has done something wrong and that is why I am serving them.” If one thinks like this then their entire attempt at service is for naught as there is no ideation of Narayana. One should think that, “Narayan is before me in the form of a sick person; He is playing His liila and I am have been blessed with the opportunity to serve Him.” This is the proper approach.

Unruly king beat his queen and severely damaged her leg

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "England’s Henry the Eighth was an unruly king. Once he came to Paris with the queen. In Paris many kinds of covetable drinks were available, thus when they were in Paris his desire for drink naturally increased. One day, while under the influence of liquor, he beat the queen so mercilessly that one of her legs became practically crippled. For several days she was obliged to drag it behind her as she walked. When the time came they returned to London (In those days they did not call it London but rather Londre in the aristocratic French language). The residents of the city fell head over heels in the nooks and crannies of the royal residence trying to see whether or not the king and queen had brought back any new fashions from Paris. They saw [Queen] Elizabeth dragging her leg and thought perhaps that this kind of walk was some kind of ultra-modern French style. Women have one great quality; they can easily imitate others. Thus it happened that within three to four days most of the women in the aristocratic households were dragging their leg behind them when they walked and taking a lot of pride in it. It is not written in the histories whether they ever discovered what the real story was behind the queen dragging her leg when she walked. Elizabeth’s style of walking while dragging her leg was called the “Elizabethan gait”." (1)

What is prema / love in Ananda Marga philosophy

“Whatever the profound, philosophical implications of the word prema [“love”], the true characteristic of love is supra- physical – beyond the bondage of any limitation. When artists become absorbed in the essence of love and try to convey it to the people through their language, rhetoric and subtle suggestions, the sweetness of their artistic genius reaches the apex of expression. But then this creation of the artist cannot be regarded as popular literature or art, because the subtle sense which is capable of comprehending that transcendental feeling is, in fact, undeveloped in most people. We do find at places in the literature of Rabindranath Tagore some semblances of this pure, supra-physical love, but whenever Rabindranath tried to give expression to it, he became unintelligible to the masses. The transcendental thoughts and ideas of the sweet, graceful shlokas [couplets] of the Upanishads are also incomprehensible to the common people.”
“This sublime love has established itself for all eternity beyond the limits of time, space and person. Infinite love is the ultimate ecstatic expression of finite love. This sense that artists try to awaken in the popular mind, when they devote themselves to the task of establishing the link between the finite and the infinite, between the mundane and the transcendental – this awareness, though not purely transcendental, is of the greatest importance in the realm of art. Because it gradually leads that sweetness of the human mind which is apprehensible to ordinary intelligence to a dreamland that is beyond the senses.” (1)
