Hormuz crisis:
Prout solution decentralized production

Note: The topic addressed herein is unfolding at this very moment and has crippled various economic sectors and dismantled the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

Namaskar,

According to Prout, one of the main defects of capitalism is centralized production. The present crisis in the Middle East is a glaring example of this. One of the key problems is that approximately 20% to 45% percentage of all of the world’s (a) petroleum products, (b) chemical fertilizers, (c) naphtha (flammable oil), (d) industrial chemicals, and (e) aluminum - amongst other items - are produced in this region and shipped through the Strait of Hormuz to supply the entire globe. This is a prime example of centralized production as all those commodities and products stem from a single geographical source. And when that supply chain is hampered or blocked entirely, the global economy comes under siege.

Now, in this current milieu of political unrest, military action, and wartime strategies and blockades, the vast majority of cargo ships are unable to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, adversely affecting economies and living conditions across the entire globe. This is the opportune moment to practically understand and point out the inherent flaws of capitalism. We should try to not only educate ourselves - but the greater populace as well - about Prout's guidelines regarding the benefits of decentralized production in order to address and solve this global catastrophe, and prevent similar such disasters in the future.

Why local production & distribution?

[A] Here Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, the Propounder of Prout, clearly delineates how economic policy and production must be done on the local level, not in a centralized manner.

Prout philosophy states, “There is only one way to stop economic exploitation and alleviate the plight of the common people, and that is to implement a policy of decentralized economy in all the sectors of the economy….A centralized economy can never solve the economic problems of remote villages. Economic planning must start from the lowest level, where the experience, expertise and knowledge of the local people can be harnessed for the benefit of all the members of a socio-economic unit. All types of economic problems can be solved only when economic structures are built on the basis of a decentralized economy.” (1)

How to disassemble a centralized economy?

[B] Next, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar tackles the hard reality of how to overturn an economic system based on centralized production.

Prout philosophy states, “The basic question is how to remove the unhealthy influence of a centralized economy. The real issue is, who will bell the cat? If the vested interests fail to be guided by righteous intellect, then people will have to take matters into their own hands. They will have to create circumstantial pressure from all sides, uniting around the slogan: “Abolish centralized economy to end exploitation; establish decentralized economy.” (2)

Benefits of decentralization

[C] Finally, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar advances the diverse and vast benefits of the decentralized economy and how it benefits humanity on multiple levels from the mundane to the sublime.

Prout philosophy states, “Decentralized economy is the only way that people can attain all-round welfare because it will not only guarantee economic prosperity, but also pave the way for individual and collective psycho-spiritual progress. Once people’s mundane problems have been solved, they will have greater opportunities to develop their potentialities in the psychic and spiritual spheres. With the establishment of a decentralized economy, economic and psycho-economic exploitation will be eradicated, the gap between the rich and poor will be minimized and individual and collective welfare will be greatly enhanced. This in turn will create greater opportunities for the psychic and spiritual progress of all members of society.” (3)

Conclusion

Due to the current crisis and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, untold suffering is occurring around the world. Innocent lives are being devastated. Now is the time for the propagation of Prout’s teachings and guidelines so people can begin to understand and realize that the singular and only solution lies in the creation of a decentralized economy to solve current and future economic problems.

Link between thinking & health

Ananda Marga Yogic Treatments states, "Mental purity helps particularly in keeping a person healthy. Impure thoughts increase the acidity of the blood and invite disorders of the stomach, heart and brain. That is why every human being should make as strong a habit as possible of selfless service and iishvara pranidhana (meditation). The best way to attain mental purity is to follow the principles of yama and niyama." (1)

We can say that Baba’s above guideline is wholly ignored and neglected by the general populace in materialistic societies where one’s mind is grossly involved in negative entertainment and indulged in so many degrading dealings etc. Such depraved habits are very bad: They heighten the acidity of the blood and harm the major organs of the body. The body is then susceptible and prone to disease. The acidic blood is the cause of disease. By purifying one’s thoughts through a spiritual way of life, a person’s physical health is enhanced, and the mind is refined and readied for deeper meditation.
