Dharma samiiksa’ + 4 more

Baba

Dharma samiiksa’

Namaskar,

All-knowing Baba used to check the Sixteen Points of various workers and Lft's while taking report. This was His regular approach during all reporting sessions. And it  intensified during His grand program of Dharma Samiiksa ('79 - ‘80). Verily, this way of reporting continued right up through 1990 - where omniscient Baba was regularly checking how workers etc were following 16 Points, and especially the point of sadhana.

Baba's ways to guide Wts

Baba used to uncover how that particular Wt was not properly following 16 Points. The concerned worker was not doing all the lessons of sadhana; in result they could not get the necessary inspiration or sufficient energy to fulfill their social service responsibilities. Baba used to expose that worker’s hidden sins before all and show the right path. And by this way the Wt was greatly benefited and blessed by all-benevolent Sadguru Baba. Side by side, all got the guideline that sadhana is essential for properly serving suffering humanity.

So by dharma samiiksa and various reportings, everyone understood that by doing all the lessons of sadhana - one will always receive the requisite strength and inspiration to fulfill all their duties in life and serve the society. This much we all understood from Baba's reporting style those days.

What can be the cause downfall

So today when we see our organisation in a crisis situation it can be easily concluded that a major factor behind this downfall is that those at the helm - i.e. so-called central purodhas - are not properly following 16 Points. Most notably, certain Dadas are not doing their sadhana. Otherwise what can be the cause of the disarray, chaos, and divisions within the upper echelons of our organisation.

Consequently, when the standard of sadhana is down then everything goes in the wrong direction. To rectify this situation one has to  point out those not properly following 16 points. All margiis and Wts should keep watch on one another regarding who is and who is not properly following 16 Points.

Anyone can point out anyone

Here below Ananda Marga ideology clearly explains that each and every Ananda Margii - young or old, new or senior, family person or Wt - has the God-given right and allotted duty to point out other Ananda Margiis on Sixteen Points. So it is wrong to assume that only Wts can point out other Wts etc. Baba's decree is that anyone can point out anyone - even a new margii can point out a senior purodha if that purodha is not adhering to the tenets of Sixteen Points.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Regarding the Sixteen Points, it was said that ácárya/ás or senior persons would see if you were observing them properly or not. Similarly, I gave a directive to all that they should keep watch on one another. No one will exempt anyone else regarding the Sixteen Points." (1)

Up till now some have been confused on this point. After reading Beloved Baba's directive, any and all confusion should be wiped away. Baba's mandate is extremely straight-forward.

Conclusion

When so-called central purodhas properly adhere to the tenets of Sixteen Points they will abandon groupism and follow universal human dharma. By that way our organisation will be cleaned and brought onto the right track. In this regard, every Ananda Margii must be vigilant and adhere to Sixteen Points and ensure others are also following Sixteen Points, especially those in leadership positions.

Make them shun bad habit by sweet or harsh words

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "From the social or human viewpoint, everybody has the right to correct the behaviour of everyone else. This is the birthright of every human being. No scholar can dispute the right of people to correct the shortcomings of those with whom they come in contact. The recognition of this right is indispensable for the health of society. " (2)

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "The establishment of an ideal society depends on the mutual help of the members and their cooperative behaviour. This cooperative behaviour depends on the practice of the principles of Yama and Niyama; so, spiritual practices, especially the practice of Yama and Niyama, are the sound foundation of an ideal society...All Ananda Margis, when they see other Margis acting against the principles of Yama and Niyama, must make them shun this habit either by sweet or harsh words or by dealing even more strictly. Thus they will have to make the society strong. Henceforth I direct every Ananda Margi to keep strict vigilance on other Ananda Margi to make them practise the principles of Yama and Niyama." (3)

Caryacarya says, “If you find that the conduct of an individual is antisocial, you should try to reform his or her nature by resorting to whatever severe measures may be necessary. Remember, he or she is not your enemy, but his/her conduct is the enemy of your society." (4)

Up till now some have been confused on this point. After reading Beloved Baba's directive, any and all confusion should be wiped away. Baba's guideline is extremely straight-forward.

तुम्हें भूलकर मायाजाल

प्रभात संगीत: ámi, tomáre bhúliyá chinu kata din, calechi ucal pathe paŕechi ságar shrote,
chile svarńábja acin, malin hoyeche din hatádare shriihiin (PS #4091)

Paramatattva aor Anudhyána, S22-09, DMC 7 September 1966 Purnia)

Spiritual yoga nidra, not stupor or slumber

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Most of the hormones of the upper portion are consumed by the solar plexus, which is contiguous with the anáhata cakra. When the sudhárasa [bliss-causing hormones] emitted by the glands and sub-glands situated above the ájiṋá cakra are consumed in the ájiṋá cakra, the result is that the ájiṋá cakra is strongly affected by the high secretion of hormones brought about by sádhaná [spiritual practices] in that upper region, and consequently the irises of the eyes move upwards and a state of trance ensues. A pleasant drowsiness of tandrá [somnolence] mixed with nidrá [sleepiness] overcomes the eyes, and the person is immersed in a type of slumber of a subtle loka [realm]. This kind of yoga nidrá, bháva nidrá, adhyátma nidrá is known as hypnosis in English. Bear in mind that it has no connection with hypnotism or mesmerism. Hypnotism or mesmerism is outer-suggestion, while hypnosis is auto-suggestion.” (1)

Note: This does not refer to the type of sleep that occurs in sadhana when the surroundings are very warm etc. That is a tamasik state. In His above teaching, Sadguru Baba is talking about spiritual hypnosis. This is a very high stage that occurs when sadhana is very good. When one sits and experiences deep sadhana for an extended period then their whole existence becomes calm. After sadhana they will not like to talk with anyone or do anything mundane etc, and their mantra will go on effortlessly even when walking around etc. They will not even like to have their eyes open. This is a higher stage of sadhana. That is what Baba is describing in the above teaching.

This is known as spiritual drowsiness or spiritual intoxication - not sleep in the worldly sense. Sincere sadhakas experience this. To attain this stance one must do longer sadhana. Sitting in an isolated place is also very helpful. Then, by Guru’s grace, within a short period one can realise this. And they will see that this type of spiritual hypnosis will last for a long time - i.e. the whole day. A soothing blissful feeling will permeate their whole entire existence.

in Him,
Arvind
