Home occupied by dead + 2 more

Baba

Home occupied by dead

Namaskar,

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all started in the Middle East long ago. And at that time there was a shortage of firewood, so when a person died then burning the body was not an option due to a dearth of fuel, i.e. firewood. At the same time, they saw that there was plenty of empty space. The solution they arrived at was to bury the dead bodies - not burn them. The propounders of those religions put this into practice. And so it became the standard rule: bury the dead body.

So many dead bodies and so little land

Now times have changed; the situation has become reversed. There is no longer a shortage of fuel; there all kinds of scientific ways to burn a dead body. But there is a dramatic shortage of space, especially in the cities all around the globe. So the circumstances have completely flip-flopped.

But due to dogma, people do not want to burn the deceased. Followers of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism continue to bury corpses, per their religious dogma. So around the globe there is a crisis over where to bury those corpses. There are so many bodies and so little land.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Tombstones exacerbate the problem

At first, they were simply burying the dead, but not putting a tombstone to mark the place. Because making a tombstone was a big job. However, with the advancement of science, tombstones are now readily available. That makes the land shortage even more severe. Consider this: In the past the corpse was buried and then in a few decades or less another corpse could be placed in that same spot. But with the rampant and pervasive use of tombstones, burial spots are taken indefinitely - the arrangement is permanent.

One of the dogmas fueling this issue is the mistaken religious belief in doomsday: Those religious followers believe they will unite with all their past family members in heaven. So they do not want to burn their dead body as they think they will need it in heaven etc. Thus even though all rational, logical, and scientific assessments point to curtailing the burying of the dead, those religious followers will not change their ways. They do not want to burn their dead body as they think they will need it in the future.

Now consider the dichotomy that is taking place: Billions of dollars are spent constructing fancy, state-of-the-art, skyscrapers for deceased persons. Such high-rise cemeteries are air-conditioned / temperature controlled, with marble lobbies, door-men, and all sorts of amenities. Side by side, within the same city limits millions of local citizens are living in shanty-town shacks without running water - and no access to clear water. These slums are full of disease, half-naked children, and women lacking basic medical care. Huge finances are used for the deceased while poor, impoverished people have nothing and struggle to remain alive. And all this is unfolding within the same city limits. It is an abuse of resources - and a slur on our human society.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Unsustainable planning

At present, there are 4 - 5 billion people on the planet who follow one of the semitic religions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism). As they die and tombstones are erected for each person, all the remaining land will be quickly used up. And to start piling people into high-rise mortuaries is impractical and expensive. Such buildings are costly; they need regular upkeep; and, they will only last 100 or 200 years - at which point they will need to be taken down and rebuilt etc. So the whole entire enterprise of (a) burying the dead and marking their spot with a tombstone and (b) using high-rise cemeteries is completely unsustainable. It is an utter waste of natural resources, i.e. land, and a terrible misuse of money.

So this dogma of burying the dead started out of necessity - i.e. due to a lack of firewood. That was two thousand years ago. And now it has become a big problem. A fight has erupted between the dead and the living. Those who are alive do not have enough space to live. For instance, in Cairo half a million people live between tombs due to a shortage of space. People literally do not have any room, just they survive sleeping among the tombs.

The new fad: Skyscraper cemeteries

The situation has become so bleak and dire that now skyscrapers are being constructed to serve as cemeteries. That is the latest “fix.” That shows how dogmatic people do not like to give up their dogma. And that dogma - of burying the deceased and using a tombstone - is harming the growth and well-being of society. Such mortuary skyscrapers are proof how this very rule has now become a burden. Yet people are carrying the dead body of that dogma of burying the deceased.

Here are some of the facts and figures related with these skyscraper cemeteries.

~ Courtesy of Daily Mail ~

The Brazilian solution features a series of over-ground crypts where families can visit the space where their loved one is held Cemetery overcrowding presents a challenge the world over, particularly in cramped cities and among religions that forbid or discourage cremation. The reality of relying on finite land resources to cope with the endless stream of the dying has brought about creative solutions. The world's tallest existing cemetery is the 32-story high Memorial Necropole Ecumenica in Santos, Brazil. In Tokyo, the Kouanji is a six-story Buddhist temple where visitors can use a swipe card to have the remains of their loved ones brought to them from vaults on a conveyer belt system.
Versions of stacked cemeteries already exist in some shape or form in places like New Orleans and across Europe, in Egypt's Mountain of the Dead, in China and in the amphitheater-like Pok Fu Lam Rd Cemetery in Hong Kong. And in some places they started recycling burial spots, such as in NY, and in other places they put tomb on top of tomb in a high stack. But the future will likely look more like the ambitious plan of Norwegian designer Martin McSherry for an airy cemetery skyscraper that looks almost like a gigantic honeycomb with triangular caverns.
Other plans for cemetery towers have been presented for Paris and Mumbai. In Mexico City, another big project has been proposed: the Tower for the Dead, which will combine a vertical necropolis and an 820-foot-deep subterranean complex. (Courtesy of the Daily Mail UK)

Conclusion

1. This dogma of burying the dead started in the Middle East long ago due to an inability (i.e. lack of fuel) to burn the bodies of the deceased.
2. Now the situation is reversed. There is plenty of fuel for burning the bodies and a lack of land to bury them.
3. But swayed by their doomsday dogma and religious rituals, those followers of the Semitic religion are unwilling to change their ways. They do not want to give up their dogma.
4. The pervasive use of tombstones only exacerbates the land shortage problem by essentially making every burial spot a permanent ordeal
5. In result, in cities around the world where the Semitic religions are dominant, they have taken to building skyscraper cemeteries.
6. This entire process is unsustainable. There simply is not space on this earth to bury the dead and have enough land for the living. That is why many say this is the fight between the deceased and the living.
7. The only rational solution is to adopt the practice of burning / cremating the deceased.

Cannot re-establish a dogmatic, religious theory

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “People also behave in artificial ways for the sake of the prestige of an ism – ways that do not correspond to their internal feelings. Isms have such an influence over the human mind that even if a person has been defeated through logic or reason, he or she refuses to accept the defeat. People therefore have to wrench their minds free from the serpentine shackles of isms.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Wherever there is movement it is related to time, space and person. A particular movement related to a specific time, space and person cannot tally with another movement belonging to a different time, space and person. When the movement of a particular time, space and person maintains parallelism of similar movement related to a particular physical and mental wave, the resultant is called an "ism". Therefore, when there is a change in either the physical or mental wave or both, the validity of a particular ism is lost due to the change in the time, space or person in which it was accepted. An ism may be accepted in a particular mental wave, but if due to a change in the physical wave the mental wave fails to maintain parallelism, the result will be that that particular ism will be considered [obsolete]. If anybody tries to re-establish an old political, economic or religious theory of two thousand years ago – a theory or ism based on past time, space or person – using whatever type of psychology, sentiment or adroit propaganda, it will not be possible to correlate it with the existing physical waves. Once lost the parallelism between the ism and the physical wave cannot be restored, even if the old mental environment is re-created. We perceive the change not only in the physical wave but also in the mental wave. No amount of scientific effort will make it possible to restore the mental wave of the past. There was a time when kings were worshipped as the incarnations of God, but today if anybody tries to reintroduce this antiquated practice using psychological propaganda, it will be impossible for people to accept it.” (2)

Foolishly consider themselves God’s chosen people

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The followers of isms foolishly consider themselves to be God’s chosen people [because of their mental fetters], and they do not hesitate to brand others as non-Aryans, kafirs [infidels] or heathens, in utter [rejection]. They think that the Supreme Father bestows His grace only on them, not on the rest of creation. They are not prepared to understand that those they call non-Aryans, kafirs, heathens or mlecchas are also part of His manifestation.” (3)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “People also behave in artificial ways for the sake of the prestige of an ism – ways that do not correspond to their internal feelings. Isms have such an influence over the human mind that even if a person has been defeated through logic or reason, he or she refuses to accept the defeat. People therefore have to wrench their minds free from the serpentine shackles of isms.” (4)

Would You come with a soft smile

Note: Only those who sincerely practice the higher lessons of sahaja yoga meditation can understand this song in the depths of their heart.

Prabhat Samgiita Intro: The following song paints the picture of one bhakta in the midst of a big calamity - some serious circumstance has occurred like a tragic accident, serious illness, or even death. In that situation, people often feel isolated. They think nobody is there to help. That brings complete misery. Yet, in this world everything is always changing; the days do not remain the same. After tragedy, good times come.

Those lacking above-average bhakti feel completely lost when a serious crisis befalls them. Their situation is just like a parrot under attack by one cat. When the cat is not around, the parrot repeats the name Rama over and over again like a mantra. Some naive people really think the parrot is a bhakta but when a cat enters onto the scene and stalks the parrot, then in that time of crisis that parrot stops repeating the name Rama. It completely forgets its mantra and just cries. It has no inner connection with that mantra. The sense is that when there is no love for Parama Purusa, then in times of difficulty one forgets their mantra and gets terrified and feels helpless. This is what lower bhaktas do. For great sadhakas the situation is 100% different.

So this following song depicts the feeling of lower bhakti. When immersed in problems, the bhakta forgets Parama Purusa and sadhana becomes difficult. So this song should be sung by those who have this internal feeling. At the same time, it is important to remember that not every song is for every sadhaka. In this song the bhakta is confiding in Parama Purusa that when a tragedy came then, “I could not think about You, so now I humbly request You, Parama Purusa, to please come in the abode of my mind.”

In the below song, the thunderstorm is a metaphor for tragedies undergone in life.

"Jhaŕer rate ándhárete, kende chilum vano majhe,
kaite kathá bujhate vyathá, keu chilo na mor káche..." (Prabhat Samgiita #3199)

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, on that very dark night when a big thunderstorm was raging, I was crying alone in the deep forest. Nobody was there to talk to - to console me - to understand the tale of my suffering. No one was nearby, and I could not feel Your presence. So I felt like I was all alone in that cyclone.

Baba, in the height of that wild storm, so many big branches were breaking off the trees and crashing down on the ground. And those tender buds and beautiful flowers were also completely blown off from the limbs of the trees. That very dark, horrendous night was so disastrous. Those blossoms and branches were wailing loud lamentations; every tree was crying bitterly in that raucous, windy night with pouring rain.

My Parama Purusa Baba, the hail is over. With the end of this deadly night, a soft, gentle breeze is in the air. Will you please come in the madhuvan of my mind, in my mental grove, with Your sweet, attractive form? After all, the bad days are over, would You come with soft smile. Please bless me and give Your darshana...

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #3199:

[1] Madhuvan: Literally meaning "nectar forest"; But it refers to that remote, isolated, grove in the mind that is filled with spring blossoms, sweet fragrance, aromatic flowers, and a gentle & fragrant breeze. It is that tranquil mental abode where nobody is present except the devotee and the Lord. And there the bhakta and Parama Purusa sit together ensconced in that very divinely intoxicated atmosphere and they share the loving feeling of their heart in a very close, intimate, and loving way.

Story: DMC + 2 more

Baba

Story: DMC

Note: This letter is only for those who have reverence for Sadguru Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji and try to follow His Ananda Marga ideology.

Namaskar,

Here is one of the many highly memorable occasions when Baba would make us all smile and laugh and thereby bring us closer to Him. Despite our faults and despite our limitations, through His immense warmth and love, and yes, by making us laugh, we would feel that whatever we may be in this world, certainly we are His and He is mine. That was one of the very special ways in which Baba would make us all feel close. Below is one of the scenes which I recall.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Reception & Baba's arrival

At one particular DMC that I attended, a huge crowd of margiis and workers were anxiously awaiting Baba's auspicious arrival. The pandal was completely full and everyone present was involved in singing and dancing kiirtan. All were in a blissful flow and the intimate spiritual feeling was mounting more and more as they expected Parama Purusa Baba to come any moment.

Then suddenly one Dada started shouting and the kiirtan came to a distinct halt. Another Dada immediately began raising the slogan, "Parama Pita Baba Ki!", and everyone exclaimed "Jai". Again and again the slogan was raised: "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!"

The volume and vibration of the pandal was increasing and everyone knew that at any moment Baba would be coming. The slogan was raised one more time and then we could all see Baba entering onto the stage. Cries of "Baba, Baba" could be heard all around and still the slogan was going on, "Parama Pita Baba Ki- Jai!!". The whole pandal was charged and vibrated by His presence.

As Baba walked slowly across the stage surrounded by His entourage, He passed His cane to one Dada and majestically sat down on the dais. Quickly another Dada came forward to remove Baba's shoes. As Baba moved onto the center point of the dais, one or two Dadas were involved in arranging the side pillows of His seat. Then, for a second time, Baba brought His hands together and gave His blessing across the entire pandal.

Everyone was feeling waves of bliss as Baba looked in their direction. Then one Dada approached Baba with a mala and garlanded Baba and then did sastaung pranam. Everyone was completely focused on Baba - watching His every gesture and move. Baba then began giving some directions to a few Dadas who were by His side and then they took leave and went from the dais.

Next Baba looked out across the sea of margiis and in a smiling manner He said, "How are you - everything is alright?"

Then everyone present simultaneously replied, "Yes, Baba!"

Baba looked to be in a very jolly mood and that heightened everyone's happiness and joy. In successive order Baba performed blessings for newly married margiis and distributed prizes to various workers and margiis.

Display of kaoshikii & Baba’s humorous response

Immediately thereafter, per the system of DMC, there was a call for brothers’ kaoshikii. Baba smiled and turned slightly towards His left and looked over in their direction.

One Dada could be heard saying, "Dhin dhin dhin, dhin dhin..." and on that count the brothers' kaoshikii dance began. Actually those brothers had not been practicing kaoshikii recently. They already thought that they were the best dancers of kaoshikii - better than others - so they internally felt that there was no need to practice. This was the outlook they had cultivated. They felt a sense of entitlement. With this attitude they started dancing.

Since it was the time of DMC there was a big crowd. And those brothers were dancing as if they were already perfect at kaoshikii etc. This was their inner feeling.

Baba was smiling towards those brothers who were dancing. After a minute or two, the call came "Halt!", and all the dancers immediately stopped, thinking they had done it flawlessly.

Normally, the sisters would then be signaled to start their kaoshikii. But on this particular occasion, Baba was smiling and still looking over towards those brothers who had just completed their dance. So everyone's focus was in that direction. Then in a jolly manner and in a smiling way Baba very reassuringly spoke the following:

"You know the kaoshikii dance displayed by the boys was very good - (Baba was still smiling)

"--with the exception of a few points."

Then in a charming way Baba said:

"The teamwork was not so good; the angular bending was not so good; and, there was actually no rhythm."

Then in a jovial mood, Baba concluded:

"With the exception of these three points, it was very good."

All laughed

Hearing Baba's dramatic delivery and humorous words, we all laughed - everyone laughed - and this laughter continued for several seconds. We were all charmed by His manner. Side by side, in a very benevolent way, those dancers got the message that they were not exempt from practicing. In their heart of hearts, they understood that they should refine their movements and dance with a sense of surrender - not ego. This was the great benefit they received, by His grace.

By this way, by Baba's humorous response, all felt loved and cared for, and everyone understood in the depths of their heart that, "I am His child and regardless of how my performance is, always He loves me and finds a way to help me progress." We all felt very close to Baba.

A few takeaway points from the story

There are a few things we can all understand from the above story.

1) Baba was giving the encouragement that no one should feel dejected by their performance and that He recognises the sincerity of their effort and gives everyone His love and affection.

2) Baba wanted that everyone present - whether they were dancing or not - should improve the standard of their kaoshikii.

3) If Baba would have just appreciated the performance and not pointed out the defect in their dance, then no one would have been aware of their mistake and by that way those dancing and those watching would continue their poor way of dancing in the future.

4) If Baba had only scolded these new margiis then they might think that doing kaoshikii was beyond their reach and they also would not feel close to Him.

5) But in a special way, He appreciated their effort and guided them for their improvement.

Really in that moment everyone felt loved, cared for, and close to Baba. Such was the effect of His radiant Presence and special words. Thereafter, the DMC program took its course and the sisters danced kaoshikii and the brothers tandava and after that Baba announced, "The subject of today's discourse...". And always we will remember that in spite of how poor the kaoshikii dance was, Baba found a way to appreciate their effort and everyone laughed and felt close. So Baba has a unique way of making the entire atmosphere blissful.

Baba is not only Guru but He is our Father and in His each and every expression He is very close and sweet. How can we forget those moments. And to this very day, whenever I close my eyes then I remember that special time and I feel His close proximity. And that gives me the energy to move forward.

Create a heartfelt link

As the Divine Father, Baba has come on this earth to give ultimate salvation by decreasing the distance between He and His children. He has come to create an intimate closeness with bhaktas and encourage all to come even closer and still more close.

Being Parama Purusa and the most Magnanimous One, Baba would always create a heartfelt link with bhaktas which would automatically melt the gap between His supreme greatness and our ordinary selves. And one of the wonderful ways He would accomplish this was by using humour and tender expressions with bhaktas. By making everyone laugh and smile, sadhakas would immediately feel more relaxed and closer with Baba. This was the very sweet and gracious way in which He would communicate with bhaktas.

Each and every margii has their own personal experience of closeness with Him and by that way they could feel His sweet touch; and, those who could not get this feeling could not remain. Every new or old margii has their own experience and realisation, and even today He is with us.

Take advantage of the opportunity

By Baba's sweet grace we will all realise the height of human glory and live life divine and reach up to Him.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Do not forget your life; do not forget the path; the path is very noble, very beautiful, and it is for you to know that, it is for you to realize that, so do it from today. Do not leave it for tomorrow, tomorrow may not come for you. Who knows? The sun may not rise for you tomorrow. No one can say who is going to live from today till tomorrow. It is up to Him to decide. So as long as we are here today, let us try to take [advantage] of this opportunity and do sa'dhana' and follow dharma; thereby you will know Him, [you will complete] the beautiful journey of knowing Him. So let us know Him today. In this way we will be able to provide paths for human beings to come. Animals also are marching ahead to know that Supreme Entity. So it is our duty to make the way, to pave the way, in order for everyone to come on this path. Realize Him. Realize that Supreme Being within you. This is your dharma, this is your path; and let this path be yours, and victory will surely be yours." (1)

Plagiary?
It is the accepted international standard and Baba's system not to copy another's work and publish it in your own way. Baba has given a very strict rule on plagiarism. Why is Baba against plagiarism or stealing someone's work? There are many reasons:
1) It is against the code of asteya (non-stealing).
2) Countless stories of bhaktas need to be published. But some do not want to do the hard work of compiling and writing these stories, so they just steal them from others. But new stories need to be told, otherwise so many unpublished stories of sadhakas will be lost and forgotten forever. So watch out for story thieves, and kindly help them not to steal by posting on social media in their own way. If you want to forward this story then attach the following yellow section with the story:
“Courtesy of unknown bhakta via Ananda Marga Universal (https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/)”
This will be treated as the standard protocol.

Warning about plagiary

It is the accepted international standard and Baba's system not to copy another's work and publish it in your own way. Baba has given a very strict rule on plagiarism. Why is Baba against plagiarism or stealing someone's work? There are many reasons:

1) It is against the code of asteya (non-stealing).

2) The individual who steals gets degenerated and it sets a bad example in the social sphere.

3) It impedes social progress as others will not be inclined to pursue new and original work as they think that others will just steal it.

4) It breeds a society of lethargic people who will always wait for others to create something new. It is just like those who are lazy in the kitchen do not cook - just they wait for others to prepare food and then they steal it away and devour that food.

5) Countless stories of bhaktas need to be published. But some do not want to do the hard work of compiling and writing these stories, so they just steal them from others. But new stories need to be told, otherwise so many unpublished stories of sadhakas will be lost and forgotten forever. So watch out for story thieves, and kindly help them not to steal by posting on social media in their own way, with their own name etc. This is plagiary.

Key question and only answer

Ananda Marga ideology guides, "Those who have fallen today may become evolved people, great personalities in the future – mahápuruśas. This is why no one should ever be disappointed in life. Parama Puruśa is calling everyone and He will continue to call everyone: all shall find a safe shelter on His loving lap. He does not hate or neglect anyone. Hence the only answer to the question, “kasya tvam” – “Whom do you belong to?” – is: “I belong to Parama Puruśa, to Him and Him alone, because I have come from Him and I am in Him, and finally I will return to Him.” And the only answer to the question, “Kuta áyátah” – “From where have you come?” – is: “I have come from Parama Puruśa and I will go back to Him. He is my permanent abode.”" (1)

Everlasting Unity:

Very Beginning Of A Child's Life

"In Ananda Marga the seed of a common ideal is sown from the very beginning of a childs life. At the age of five, when the child has acquired only a preliminary understanding of his or her surroundings, he or she is given the idea of Brahma [the Supreme Entity]. The entire society of Ananda Marga is thus founded on a common ideal or goal – Brahma. This foundation will never be lost like the dangers of war. Such an ideal will not disappear like the common ideal of facing the dangers of war; so the unity in a society founded on the ideal of Brahma will be everlasting." (AFPS-7, Social Psychology)
