Futility of marriage oath?

Baba

Futility of marriage oath?

Namaskar,

The marriage oaths given in Ananda Marga are meant only for Ananda Margiis. If one is not an initiated Ananda Margii and one does not have inherent reverence for Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji, then those oaths / vows become meaningless.

If oath taker does not believe in Marga Gurudeva

In marriage, Baba has given the mantra and meaning, and the meaning is treated as an oath. The mantra begins with the following vow, which first the groom and then the bride must repeat.

"I say on oath in the name of Parama Brahma and Marga Gurudeva that out of my own free will I will accept Shriimatii / Ms. ... as my wife." (1)

In this above quote, the oath is taken "In the name of Parama Brahma and Marga Gurudeva". So here the point is that if the oath taker does not believe in Marga Gurudeva, then taking an oath in His name has no meaning for that person.

To take an oath in someone's name, one must have adoration for that person or entity. And the only person who has adoration for Marga Gurudeva Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji is an initiated Ananda Margii who is practicing sadhana. Without that one will not have a devotional connection with Him. And without that inner feeling, that oath or marriage vow is impotent.

Just like a margii taking vow in the name of
Allah, Jesus, monkey Hanuman etc

So if one margii takes oath in the name of Marga Gurudeva, then that has deep meaning. Because the margii has reverence for Baba, our Marga Guru. But if that same margii takes oath in the name of Allah, Jesus or Hanuman, then what will be the sense of that when the margii has no feeling for them.

Similarly, if a non-margii brother or sister takes the oath on the name of Marga Gurudeva, then what meaning will that have when they themselves do not feel that Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji is their Guru. If they had the feeling that Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji is their Guru then certainly they would have taken initiation. So the fact that they have not taken initiation shows they do not have that type of feeling for Guru. Without that, it is just hypocritical to take an oath in Marga Guru's name. Officially on paper the oath can be done, but in the real sense no oath has been taken. And when the oath has not been taken then the marriage is null and void.

That is why we say the marriage oaths in our Ananda Marga marriage ceremony are only for Ananda Margiis. These oaths are meaningless for non-margiis.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Shubhamayii

Example of deceptive story + 4 more

Baba

Example of deceptive story

Namaskar,

Why is this below so-called Baba story bogus? Let’s go and first read the fabricated story that one reader posed on a forum in the name of Baba:
The fake story starts: “Baba once in workers meeting told Arjuna was a characterless person in Mahabharata. Baba asked a question.  Was the wrongdoings committed by Arjuna or Paramapurusha made him to do mistakes. One Dada replied Arjuna did the mistakes. Baba suddenly sprang up from his chair and shouted who answered this. Baba told paramapurusha made Arjuna to commit mistakes so that his he would bow his head down and the blessings of Paramapurusha will be only on those whose heads are bowed down.”  The fake story ends here.
The above fake story is completely contradictory and wholly misrepresents Sadguru Baba’s teachings. Parama Purusa does not sabotage anyone by forcing them to commit sin.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Blaming God for the consequences of our actions...is only foolishness. One who performs actions will have to bear the reactions also. If you plunge your hand in fire you will surely burn it. To blame God for burning your hand is merely ignorance or stupidity." (1)

It is obvious the above fake story was written by some sinner - i.e. a who did some sin. To cover up his sin he created this false story. By this way he tried to convince others that the sin he committed was not his fault. It was the fault of Parama Purusa, God. Parama Purusa twisted the sinner’s mind.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Certainly those who heard the fake story and knew about worker’s sin were not convinced. Then the fabricated story spreads via mouth to mouth. So now the fictitious story is used to hide one’s own sin.

Watch out for such coloured jackals

When discussion was going on, those defending the culprit brought this story. This story was so obvious that they laughed at him.

Those with a little knowledge of Ananda Marga philosophy know that Parama Purusa does not force anyone to do wrong. The wrongdoer commits sin with their own free will and then those same wrongdoers try to blame God. That is the work of a pathetic mindset. Mostly atheist and lowest grade sadhakas commit sin and to escape the punishment they blame God by saying that God twisted my mind. Watch out for such coloured jackals.

Namaskar,
In Him.

In case you missed the fictitious, so-called Baba story, here it is again:
The fake story starts: “Baba once in workers meeting told Arjuna was a characterless person in Mahabharata. Baba asked a question.  Was the wrongdoings committed by Arjuna or Paramapurusha made him to do mistakes. One Dada replied Arjuna did the mistakes. Baba suddenly sprang up from his chair and shouted who answered this. Baba told paramapurusha made Arjuna to commit mistakes so that his he would bow his head down and the blessings of Paramapurusha will be only on those whose heads are bowed down.”  The fake story ends here.

Your auspicious arrival cleansed and purified my mind

"Tomár ásáte he priya cakite, sarilo tamasá amánishár..." (Prabhat Samgiita #3807)

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, O' my Dearmost, with Your auspicious arrival, the cimmerian darkness of the new moon night vanished in a flash. All persons - regardless of where they were - were blessed with supreme realisation, and their burden of vanity was removed. Their mind became filled with bliss.

O' Cosmic Entity, seeing You in the deep core of my heart, my mind has become fully satiated. My meditation reached its culmination. My internal and external lake of nectar is overflowing by Your exquisite flow. It is fully saturated in Your vibration. My whole being is ensconced in Your ideation, in Your rasa. It is Your grace. All my feelings of differentiation and shortcomings, good and bad, have been offered at Your lotus feet. My everything is surrendered unto You.

Baba, now there is no fear or shyness. My mind has been cleansed and purified by Your presence. It is Your grace. All my shyness has been forsaken and there is no more hatred in my mind towards anyone. By Your indescribable grace, I am free of all worries and doubts. O' Parama Purusa Baba, I do not care about any obstacles, hindrances, or difficulties. Your blessing is showering on me nonstop. I am marching ahead ceaselessly by Your grace.

Baba, You are always with me...

Christian, Islamic, Hindu & AMPS

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "If anybody tries to re-establish an old political, economic or religious theory of two thousand years ago – a theory or ism based on past time, space or person – using whatever type of psychology, sentiment or adroit propaganda, it will not be possible to correlate it with the existing physical waves. Once lost the parallelism between the ism and the physical wave cannot be restored, even if the old mental environment is re-created. We perceive the change not only in the physical wave but also in the mental wave. No amount of scientific effort will make it possible to restore the mental wave of the past.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “There was a time when kings were worshipped as the incarnations of God, but today if anybody tries to reintroduce this antiquated practice using psychological propaganda, it will be impossible for people to accept it." (2)

Note: Here are a few examples of Baba's above guideline.

Example of Christian, Islamic, Hindu dogma dying fast

(A) Certain Islamic fundamentalists want to implement 1500 year-old tenets in areas where they presently rule. This is evidenced by their application of the Islamic justice system where they employ antiquated punishments like chopping off a person's hand for stealing and beheading "guilty" persons in public. Such punishments are based on Islamic law. But, no matter how hard they try to implement such cruel laws, it is impossible for them to gain success in this 21st century. The public will never accept of appreciate this.

(B) Hindu fundamentalists and believers of the caste system still want to follow worn-out  / outdated caste distinctions like the use of the sacred hair, sacred thread etc.  But now the general populace is fast giving up caste such divisions and they are not going to follow them again.

(C) Fundamentalist Christians want to implement socially outdated rules of the Bible, when already the common people have advanced beyond such codes.

(D) White supremacists want to forcibly impose stale edicts on racial supremacy. But here again the common people are not inclined in this manner.

In all such cases, implementing these outdated doctrines is no longer possible; the general mass will never appreciate such antiquated rules and restrictions. They will never be implemented. Why is this impossible? Because time, space, and person have changed; that era is gone. That old philosophy is unsuitable for this present era.

That is why life of dogma is short: MPD

Today some are not very elevated so they do not feel the proximity of Sadguru Baba. Theoretically they acknowledge that Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji is close, but in their practical, day to day, spiritual experience, they do not feel that proximity. Theoretically they know that Parama Purusa Baba is everywhere, but practically not. That is why some people appreciate the dogma of MPD (mahaprayan divas) - which means that Baba is gone. They like to go and join this gathering. However, this MPD dogma will not last forever; its days are short-lived.

Future margiis will feel Baba’s presence always. They will laugh at this MPD dogma and they will not go. It is no different from how nowadays in our human society so many ills are already gone - nobody likes those things. For example, the practice of human sacrifice was very common but now nobody can think to do this. In the past also slavery was prestigious and now it is viewed as inhumane and humiliating - as is the case the with the dogmas of stoning and burning people to death as well as cannibalism. All those old rituals and dogmas are a thing of the past. Similarly the dogma of MPD will vanish like so many outdated dogmas that people used to do.

In Him,
Ranjana’ Ganguli

Namaskar,

Baba came to Phillippines in first international DMC I had arranged. BABA was supremely happy and I invited Baba again within 9 months span for 2 DMC in Manila and He accepted same. He loved all margiis in Maharlika. Tears was flowing through when He gave His departing speech. What an experience indeed.

Priming: loss of life

Baba

Priming: loss of life

Namaskar,

Consoling the bereaved, conducting death ceremonies, and handling the dead body of the mahaprayanii (the one who died) are important issues. At some point in life, we all have to deal with such matters and guide others as well. So it is our duty to follow Baba's explicit guidelines and be ready ahead of time to help others during such sensitive occasions.

Dogma: carry mahaprayanii across the planet

Indeed Baba has dedicated an entire discourse to this important matter and put great value on how to handle a person's death. That way we can minimize the grief of those in mourning by diverting the mind away from their loss. During this difficult time, we can help them redirect their mind towards Parama Purusa.

Here are some of the ways this should be applied in our practical life experiences.

In the unfortunate circumstance that one of our respected persons passes in a far away place, we should know what to do. If certain in-charges decide to (a) hold onto the body of one of our esteemed acaryas or margiis in one place, or (b) ship that body all the way across the country, planet, or in the future from one planet to another planet, (c) put the body on ice until the next retreat or DMS etc, then that drastically slows down the entire grieving process. That deepens the pain and agony of the grieving family as they are sunk in woe for a prolonged period.

Instead of gaining closure in a respectful and timely manner at the place of one's passing, the whole process of cremation is delayed. Those in mourning will indefinitely be plunged into feelings of loss and sorrow. They will be tormented by their grief for a much longer time.

Why no more than 12-days

Additional drawbacks of transporting the body long distances include the huge effort, time, and money spent to ship it across an entire continent or landmass to a new location. So this notion of transporting a dead body over a long distance to be cremated should not ever be entertained. Nor should a body be kept on ice until the next DMS etc. Both of these approaches go wholly against our Ananda Marga system.

In the last year or so, such types of suggestions were given in specific cases in our Marga. So this is the dogmatic trend we need to be aware of. Baba does not appreciate this as He wants that the mind of those in mourning be diverted toward the Supreme so their suffering is minimized. Yet if their loved one is not cremated for weeks or even months, naturally those grieving family members will not get any relief. That is why the cremation and shráddha ceremony should be done in a timely way—within a 12-day period, as outlined in Caryacarya.

If any delay occurs in cremating the deceased (i.e. the mahaprayanii), those in mourning are forced to undergo psychic suffering for a longer period. Baba does not approve of this. Baba places maximum importance on the care and comfort of the surviving family members by diverting their mind. That is why the cremation should be done within a 12-day period, as outlined in Caryacarya.

Sending to homeland

In the west, many times they keep the body for some time as that is the religious tradition and there are funeral homes for storing the body. Some naive margiis started doing this. But they are just blindly copying Christian and Judaic dogma. That is unfortunate. Baba wants that the deceased person should be cremated in a timely manner, not in a prolonged, drawn-out affair.

Some of the prevailing Hindu dogmas include transporting the deceased to a so called holy place or tiirtha like Varanasi, and paying priests big bags of money to perform the shráddha, lest the deceased (i.e. the mahaprayanii) turn into a ghost and torment the grieving family, as well as the entire village and greater community.

Let's review a few possible scenarios to make this entire matter more clear.

If a margii or an acarya dies in India and their laokik home or posting was in New York sector, then there is no need to send that body back to NY. Nowadays, due to the advancement of science, some dogmatic communities do this. But, that is dogma.

Every person in Ananda Marga considers this entire universe to be their homeland. To delay the burial, cremation, and shráddha ceremony by transporting the body halfway around the world has no rhyme or reason. Rather it is harmful dogma.

Baba does not want family and loved ones of the mahaprayanii to be mourning for a longer period of time. Rather the day of the death itself their mind should be diverted toward a spiritual ideation. That is our way. This whole entire matter is not just related with family margiis but with wholetime workers too.

Why not to mummify

In the unfortunate occurrence of PP Dada dying in a plane crash in Berlin sector or Nairobi, then there is no need to bring that body back to DMS or to central office wherein the body will be kept preserved / mummified for future generations like that of Lenin. Rather those local people in Berlin or Nairobi will respectfully manage all related affairs in the appropriate manner. The main point being: There should not be any delay in the respectful and honourable ceremony for handling the death—whether one be a family margii or wholetimer.

If we do not pay heed to Baba's order, then it sets the stage that in the future, the bodies of our esteemed acaryas and margiis will always be subjected to long travel in order to reach Ananda Nagar or some other master unit; plus some will think that the body should be held until the next retreat or DMS—be that 5 weeks or 5 months—so that maximum people can view the body. This is the uncomfortable, dogmatic ritual that we must not allow to become a reality. Such proposals have been put forth, but this is not our way.

You can imagine what will happen when there are Ananda Marga acaryas in every village on this earth, i.e. millions of acaryas. In that case, each and every day—for one reason or another—there might be the loss of a few dozen or few hundred workers. Then if all need to be transported to Ananda Nagar for a grand burial process and / or ceremony, everyone will be involved in managing the bodies. Plus, we will have to have our own air fleet, and verily everyone in AMPS will be involved in travel and ceremony preparations. This is highly irrational.

And not only that, but what about in the future when people live on different planets, then they will have to hire a spaceship to bring the body across the solar system to reach Ananda Nagar.

The rational approach is for local people to handle all said affairs in a timely and honourable manner.

What you can offer to the mahaprayanii

We have to remember that Baba's main teaching is one should divert the mind of those in mourning. They should not be reminded again and again of their loss. Rather we are to help goad their mind in a different direction—i.e. towards Parama Purusa—so they may gain a sense of peace.

Another key important point is that the shraddha ceremony aims to bring closure and comfort to the surviving loved ones. It has a big effect on the psychological state of those in mourning; that is the main benefit. The shráddha ceremony has no bearing on the future of that deceased soul.

Caryacarya states, "The departed soul does not get any advantage from the shráddha ceremony [memorial ceremony]. It is only meant for the psychic satisfaction of the person performing it." (1)

If the deceased person was a sincere sadhaka and had one-pointed devotion for Baba, Parama Purusa, then they will get mukti or moksa. In which case the deceased person is not there to listen to your shráddha.

If a person was poor in sadhana and not practicing regularly then he will get rebirth. In that case also, he will not be witness to the shraddha ceremony. The deceased may already be taking new life.

In either case—whether moksa or rebirth—the shráddha ceremony is done for the well-being of the surviving members of the society, not the deceased. You cannot give anything to the deceased.

Who suffers after death

Those who think that the deceased person will receive the food and clothes offered to others at the time of shráddha are dogmatic.

The cremation ceremony is a time to bring closure for the family and relatives. Hence it should be done in a timely manner lest they undergo more suffering.

Baba has strictly placed a 12-day limit on the period of mourning and the completion of the shráddha ceremony. But, the sooner it is done the better. And, of course, there must not be an annual celebration or remembrance of that death day. Rather as jiivas, we are to move on psychically.

Here is one inherent danger of preserving the deceased body or erecting a tomb to honor the deceased. Then one will have given too much importance to the deceased, the mahaprayanii, and have no psychic space left to think about Baba as one's object of ideation.

Tadekaḿ smarámah tadekaḿ japáma
Tadekaḿ jagatsáksiirúpaḿ namámah.

Our Guru's teaching guides us what to ideate upon:

Ananda Marga ideology states, “If I remember anyone, I will remember only that One Entity and not many. If I repeat anyone’s name, I will repeat only the name of the Lord. If I ever salute anyone, I will salute only the Supreme One and no one else.” (2)

Thus if anyone is involved in transporting or keeping the dead body for weeks or months or making a tomb etc, then that goes against the spirit of Baba's aforesaid shloka. If you do not understand, then read Baba's teaching again.

The common belief is that the deceased suffers after death—but that is wrong. The bodiless mind does not feel anything and does not suffer. Only the surviving members suffer—for a few days. That is why the funeral should not be delayed. Delaying the funeral means more suffering by the grieving family. That is why in Ananda Marga the maximum limit is twelve days.

Guru's blessing

Baba has graciously given all the requisite instructions and guidelines for how to deal with death. By following His guidelines, the grieving family members will be properly cared for and attended to, and the deceased will be cremated in a timely manner.

Here following is how Baba beautifully concludes the shráddha ceremony.

Sarve’tra sukhinah bhavantu sarve santu nirámayáh;
Sarve bhadráńi pashyantu na kashcid duhkhamápnuyát.
Oṋḿ shántih oṋḿ shántih oṋḿ shantih.

[Let everybody be happy; let everybody be free from all physical or psychic ailments; let everybody see the bright side of everything; let nobody be forced to undergo any trouble under pressure of circumstances… Oṋḿ shántih, oṋḿ shántih, oṋḿ shantih.] (3)

Namaskar,
Jagadiish Deva

Baba's main ethic is that in a psychological way, people's minds should be goaded away from sorrow. Those in mourning should not be forced to suffer unnecessarily. In His discourse, Baba gives us so many practical guidelines for how to help a grieving family. Acknowledgement of their sorrow and diverting the mind upwards are two of the key elements of Baba's guideline.

Dogma related with death:
Hindu, Christian, Jewish have similar ignorance

The carrying of the dead body to a so-called holy tiirtha etc is very common in the Hindu dogma and now some are emulating it and bringing it into AMPS. It is not accepted, but due to their ignorance and group allegiance certain avadhutas did it anyway.

Hindus do shráddha because of their fear of ghosts, but in Ananda Marga we know that such ghosts do not exist. That is just dogma. This following paragraph illustrates why Hindus do shráddha.

Here is another dogma from the Hindu religion on this point of shráddha: If the shráddha ceremony is not done then the deceased will become a ghost and harass the family, friends, villagers—everyone. The will bring disease, struggle, strife, loss, accidents and all kinds of troubles. With this fear, the common people are terrified of what will happen if they do not arrange the shráddha ceremony for the deceased. This is the dogma they suffer from. We know that there is no such thing as ghosts—just it is dogma. So they pay / donate Hindu priests huge amounts of money to preside over the shráddha ceremony. Thus in Hinduism, their shráddha ceremony is done for the "benefit" of the deceased and for the surviving members—that way they will not be tortured and harassed by any ghost or face serious problems. Christians and Jews have similar ignorance.

Dogmatic Hindus believe that if money and rituals are offered to the priest then the deceased who was roaming as a ghost in their native village will get a grand mansion in heaven with a lot of servants. The deceased will reside there and enjoy. In this way Hindus get cheated by priests. A similar custom is present in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. But Ananda Marga has come on this earth to wipe away all these dogmas and rescue the exploited mass.

Naive people talk with the deceased at their tomb

Christians and Jews carry the dead body from the four corners to their homeland because of the dogma that family members and friends can talk with the deceased at their tomb. If the deceased was a senior member of the family they will ask their advice and counsel, and if the deceased was a child they will offer toys at the site of the tomb / grave. This mindless ritual goes on endlessly. And there is an ignorant belief that in the future when doomsday comes then the body of the deceased will rise from the tomb and go to heaven on their judgement day. That is why the body parts / body of the deceased is highly needed.

Of course in Ananda Marga we do not subscribe to such dogmas or superstitions. We know that the shráddha ceremony is only done to support the grieving family; it brings a sense of closure so they can ahead in life. The shráddha ceremony, like all our Ananda Marga ceremonies, is free of cost.

The dogmatic Hindus do yearly shráddha ceremonies also. That system has been imitated by the Kolkata faction and that Tiljala team, and called "mahaprayan". They just copied this from other religious dogmas. Unfortunately from that yearly "mahaprayan" shráddha ceremony which was invented by B group, some dogmatic people have applied this for an annual ceremony for their deceased, the mahaprayanii loakik relations.

In reality dead body is like old, tattered clothes

Ananda Marga ideology states, “When the clothes become old and tattered, they are replaced with newer ones. This is the law. Nobody wants to wear old, tattered, and dirty clothes. Similarly, when the body becomes old and worthless, it is changed for a newer one.” (4)

“Do you know what death is? Death means a change of form. A boy of five years became a young man—now, the body of that boy underwent death. That young man became old—the body of that young man underwent death. That old man died and he again came here in the form of a little boy—the body of that old man underwent death. Death means a change of form.”

Vásáḿsi jiirńani yathá viháya naváni grhńáti naro’paráńi;
Tathá shariiráni viháya jiirńányáni saḿyáti naváni dehii.

“Just as you change the old cloth for a new cloth, similarly you change the old body and you reappear in this world in a new body. This is what death is.” (5)

Distinctive way to make margiis + 5 more

Reply to: anandamargauniversal1@yogasamsthanam.net

Baba

Distinctive way to make margiis

Namaskar,

Sadguru Baba places great importance on education - and in particular imparting neo-humanistic education to children in Ananda Marga primary schools. That is why Baba gives tremendous emphasis to the creation of a maximum number of primary schools. It is not that Baba merely wants us to have more primary schools than high schools. The difference is far greater than that. First, we are to create Ananda Marga primary schools in every village across the entire globe - down to the block level. When that is complete then - and only then - can we consider creating more high schools, colleges, and universities.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Per Sadguru Baba’s direction, the priority lies in the creation of ideal primary schools. That has the greatest impact on the overall development of a person. At a young age children need to be instilled with the values of neo-humanism and that will positively shape their entire life. Remember, every religion indoctrinates innocent young kids into their communal theological preachings. They start at an extremely young age, and that keeps them for the course of their life. That is how they spread their teachings. We should pay heed.

Teaching AM dharma: When kids are young ready to learn

We should not miss the opportunity to instill a neo-humanistic system of education when those kids are young. That will bring monumental yield. If we don’t, our pracara will suffer drastically and the number of margiis and sympathizers will be very low.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “We must start primary schools throughout the entire world to create a spiritual urge amongst the little pupils. I am not in favour of starting colleges; I am in favour of starting primary schools. In the entire world we have got one degree college at Ananda Nagar and thousands of kindergarten schools. That is why it is desirable in the first phase to start many primary schools instead of colleges. Merely opening high schools and colleges without a proper system of education will not serve the purpose. Rather, thousands of kindergarten and primary schools must be started with this new system of education, to create a spiritual urge amongst children throughout the entire world.” (1)

This is the approach to change the society: Impart the teachings of neo-humanism and universal dharma to primary school aged children. At that time their minds are open, flexible, and ready to grasp those teachings.

Whereas it is very difficult, almost impossible, to untrain dogmatic adults and make them into margiis. Young students in our Ananda Marga primary schools will easily become sympathizers and margiis. By this way, so many from the general public will come close. It is through primary schools that the masses can be brought into the fold of Ananda Marga ideology. That is why there is a great need for a maximum number of primary education centers.

Ideal formula for creating margiis

As soon as a primary school is created in any locale, that has a big effect on the number of Ananda Margiis in that region. The first generation the school is in operation the ground is made fertile. Within a few years, those students grow up and become sympathizers and supporters of Ananda Marga - and some try hard to follow Sixteen Points and become bonafide Ananda Margiis. The big change comes in the very next generation. Those kids grow up with parents who are eager for their children to learn dharmic guidelines. And those kids flourish in our Ananda Marga primary schools and readily become Ananda Margiis. They do Ananda Marga pracara, bring their friends, set up clubs, organise community events, and perform social service activities. Following this pattern, in a short while there will be many margiis in that area. This is the formula for creating and generating margiis in regions where people are not inclined to take initiation and enter into Ananda Marga.

The whole family is connected with the small child. When a primary school is started then teachers and administrators invariably become linked with the family and those family members can easily become sympathizers and sometimes margiis too. Remember, the parents are far more involved with the lives of their small kids than with their high school or college-aged children. Parents will drop off and pick up their small children at the school on a daily basis, while over the course of an entire year those parents may never even go once to the high school. So with primary schools, the whole family is involved and that is why the creation of primary schools is very, very important.

Conclusion

We see these days how kids raised in a materialistic environment are not inclined towards spiritual inquiry and progress. The root cause is a system of education that is matter-centered. So we should be vigilant to build up more and more primary schools as by this way we will create a whole generation of children and adults whose minds are inclined towards proto-psycho spirituality. In that stage they will be ready to learn Ananda Marga philosophy, meditation, neo-humanism, and bhagavad dharma.

Those who scare children are not well-wishers

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The method of extracting work by terrorizing the minds of children is not only made use of by a particular type of teacher, it is also often still more harmfully practised by parents. They frighten their children, tell them lies, engage in scurrilous brawls before them, and deceive and torment them; but they still expect that some day their children will become respectable members of society – that their children will bring glory to their family name. When their children are reluctant to drink milk or sleep, they terrify them by invoking imaginary goblins or frightful ghosts. Children initially have no fear, yet a fearful panorama is played out before them. Through this practice the parents may achieve some temporary gain, but even if the children wait a lifetime, they can never be compensated for the harm done to them. Even when these same children attain young adulthood, the thought of ghosts will not leave their minds – ghosts will become their permanent companions.” (2)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “For this purpose we should have a two-fold approach. For the purpose of training this turbulent mind, what is to be done? One is to get proper education, one is to be imparted with proper education — not general education — in the gospel of, in the idea of Neo-Humanism. This will help human beings in training the mind. And at the same time spiritual practice should go on for proper psychic remoulding. This what we require most. There is no alternative.” (3)

Baba's order: No co-education after adolescence

Here following in yellow highlight is Baba’s Procedural Order which states that our Ananda Marga schools must not be co-ed once children have reached the age of puberty.

A’NANDA MA’RGA PRACA’RAKA SA’MGHA (Central)
A’NANDA NAGAR
PLO no. 1A/4.2.1969

As per rules, co-education is allowed in our Schools up to Standard V. but boys who are learning in Std. V or below but have crossed twelve years of age will not be permitted to study in any of our lady managed Schools. Similarly girls who are learning in Std. V or below but have crossed 12 years of age, shall not be allowed to study in our Schools (for boys).

Feb 4, 1969

Note: Standard V is the equivalent of 5th grade or 5th class in the western system.

Why the need for gender-separated classrooms once children reach adolescence. This will aid greatly in the transfer of knowledge as students will focus on the lesson and not be diverted towards the opposite sex etc.

Example of worthless teachers

Here Baba guides us that our teachers in our Ananda Marga schools must represent the ideals of neo-humanism; every school must be taught or led by bonafide Ananda Margiis. But these  days 50% teachers in our Ananda Marga schools are non-margiis and about 5% of them smoke. This is a very bad situation.

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, “Speaking of ideals, yet another point comes to my mind, and that is the moral character and conduct of teachers. Many teachers demonstrate a flagrant lack of restraint over their language. There are also teachers who, after discussing the abuses and evils of intoxicants in the classroom, immediately go outside and start smoking. This sets an extremely bad example. If the teachers would just use intoxicants, without saying anything about them, it might not be so bad. But this approach naturally encourages the students to be undisciplined. They will think that the use of such things must be enjoyable, and that their teachers deprive them so that they can enjoy them alone.” (4)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It must be the teachers’ responsibility to impart knowledge, teach restraint in social life, and give instruction about all the various aspects of collective endeavour, but the parents will have to take on most of the responsibility for the moral and spiritual education of the child.” (5)

We should enroll our own children in AM schools

Baba Himself put His own laokik family members in Ananda Marga schools. His example is enough to show us that this is the way to proceed. When discussing schooling with others then we must recommend our Ananda Marga neo-humanistic system of education. And we should enroll our own children. Other alternative schools do not possess the requisite curriculum, nor all-round qualities of our neo-humanistic educational system. Due to the lack of a proper education, the present society could not develop in the right way.

We should never be shy to wave the flag of Ananda Marga education. Rather it is our explicit duty to make everybody aware about the beauty and utility of the system of neo-humanistic schools:

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It is the birthright of everybody to march in this universal march, to move along this path of righteousness. Just show the path to all– just tell them, ‘Oh, human beings, the path is ready for you, you just come!’ Whoever is endowed with a human mind and a human body is entitled to follow this path.” (6)

School with non-margii teachers defeats the purpose

Before 1990, we had only a few high schools approved by Baba - and then after 1990 certain opportunistic and ignorant wts started making many more highs schools relying almost exclusively on non-margii teachers. Verily such high schools sprouted up all over the place like weeds after a rainstorm. But this is not the right approach. Some workers did this for money and glory, and some did this because they did not know Guru’s teaching about the need for maximum primary schools. But here, all should be clear, the way forward is to create more and more primary schools with proper Ananda Margii teachers who can implement a neo-humanistic curriculum. Making a primary school with non-margii teachers defeats the purpose of making a neo-humanistic school.

Again and again - to please You

"Gán geye jái tomár tare shunabe tumi ei ásháte..." (Prabhat Samgiita 4799)

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, I am singing Prabhat Samgiita for You. I sing on and on with this hope: That You will come and listen. You are ever-resplendent. On this moonlit night, I have lighted the lamp of bhakti and in this ambience of darkness, I am sitting here conveying all my feelings to You.

Baba, O’ my eternal Supreme Friend, theoretically I know that You are with me always and that You are my eternal Sakha' [1], but still I wonder what type of relation is this of ours. You never spend time with me, and You stay quiet. Just You keep me all alone. And in that desperate state I become utterly dry inside and I think that without You my entire life is like the burning desert, with no relief in sight.  Without You by my side, in Your absence, I am completely miserable. Please sit near me.

O' my dearest One, please give me a sign that You are listening to the calling of my heart. Parama Purusa, please come and tell me whether You are hearing me or not. After that, You are free to go wherever You like. O' my dearmost Baba, please be gracious and shower Your sweet smile directly in my mind so that it makes a permanently blissful impression - imprinted forever in my memory - like the wonderful colours and decoration of alpana' [2].

Baba, please come and reside always in my mental abode - up till eternity...

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #4799

[1] Sakha': Ananda Marga ideology says, "'Samapra'n'a'h sakha' smrtah'. Where love and devotion are so overwhelming that it appears as if there is only one entity in two bodies, such a pair of persons is known as 'sakha''. The bhakta, the devotee, is the sakha of Parama Purus'a, because the bhakta can never think of himself as a separate entity from Him. Here he altogether forgets that he is separated from God. That is why Parama Purus'a is also a sakha' to His bhaktas and the bhakta is the sakha' of Parama Purus'a." (1)

[2] A'lpana': These are the colourful motifs, sacred art, or decorative painting done on a horizontal surface (walkway, patio etc) on auspicious occasions. Those who have attended DMC might have witnessed how on walking path across the stage leading up towards Baba's dais there are some very decorative, colourful, attractive designs. In an artistic manner there is brilliant array of flower pollen, flower petals, or any colorful scented fragrance which are soft and upon which someone can walk comfortably. This beautiful and colourful decoration is known as a'lpana' and it is meant to pay high respect and adoration to the Divine Entity. In our Marga this is used for Baba's holy and auspicious arrival. In common social settings and religious life the general population makes such decorations for the arrival of any respected guest. It is also employed in the temples.

Ananda Marga has spread across many different planets

Here below is an English summary of Baba’s above Hindi teaching.

The small nucleus of Ananda Marga dharma which we first started in Jamalpur has extended its circumference far beyond the limited frontiers of that small town, and has now spread not only all over the world, but it has spread across many different planets and still it is spreading and will go on spreading.

Blindness, ignorance, & fear in religious worship

Unfortunately, ignorant, superstitious people cannot see through the fog of avidya maya - and see Parama Purusa. The following is a description about gods & goddesses that are mostly worshipped in Bengal.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In many cases people are devoted to upadevatás out of fear and sometimes they are worshipped in the hopes of obtaining something. Banabibi [The Lady of the Forest] is there to save one from the grasp of the tiger. Besides her, there is Dakśińa Ráya; out of fear of cholera people worship Olái Cańd́ii; out of fear of smallpox they worship Shiitaládevii; out of fear of snakes, Manasá. These are all upadevatás. The women of a household will sometimes worship Lakśmii year-round to bring happiness in the family; Śet́erá as well as Suvacanii is worshipped in the ritual peace ceremony; Śaśt́hii and Niila are worshipped to bring welfare to one’s children; and out of fear of illness Shmashánkálii and Rakśekálii are worshipped. In Sanskrit they are all classified as upadevatás because they are not Parama Puruśa, the object of meditation in the spiritual world. Besides these, there are many other upadevatás such as Mangalacańd́ii, Áshánbibi, Satyapiira, etc. Upadevatás are also called folk [laokik] gods and goddesses. Some of them have dhyána mantras and some do not; some of them also have dhyána mantras in the local or state language and some do not have that either. In many cases the gods and goddesses of the Buddhist and Jain eras came or are coming to be worshipped as upadevatás in the post-Buddhist and post-Jain eras.” (1)

What bhaktas do

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Those spiritual aspirants who follow the paths of knowledge, action and devotion, of course, do not bow their heads to upadevatás. They practise the sádhaná of the singular Parama Puruśa.”
“Some people call ghosts upadevatás out of excessive fear, that is, they accept them as minor gods and goddesses lest they be angered by being called ghosts. In Sanskrit, however, the word upadevatá is not used to mean “ghost” – for ghosts the word apadevatá is used. Upa means “near” and apa means “just opposite”. Apadevatá means “one whose nature is just opposite to that of a god”.” (2)

Note: As every sadhaka knows one may serve Parama Purusa in three realms. Rendering service to society is serving Parama Purusa in the physical sphere. Singing kiirtan is serving Him in the psychic sphere. And dhyana sadhana is serving Him in the spiritual realm.
