How to face controversy + 5 more

Baba
How to face controversy

Namaskar,

During the Emergency, many margiis were having a hard time starting and carrying out new social service programs because the public had a very poor regard for Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. They were thinking that we were terrorists and cannibals etc. Those days, the name and reputation of Ananda Marga was very bad due to the false propaganda by Mrs. Indira Gandhi's despotic regime. In turn, the margiis made a motion and asked Baba for permission to change the name of Ananda Marga. Baba's reply was very straightforward: "No."
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Hence, even though the name "Ananda Marga" was misunderstood, controversial, and poorly received in the general society, Baba was adamant that the name must not be changed. We should keep Baba's above example in mind in light of a suggestion to change any term of Ananda Marga philosophy simply because the public has a prior misconception or poor opinion of the term.

Various examples

Here are some terms that changed in meaning due to their social context.

(a) Cult: This was looked upon as a dharmic term in the past, but now, due to fanatic religious groups in the west known as “cults”, the term cult is looked upon as radical and dangerous. And verily those in power used this term as a weapon against us in the 1970’s to show that Ananda Marga was a terrorist organisation. For more see note 1.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(b) Ideology: In the past ideology was viewed as a positive or neutral term, but now with the political rhetoric around the globe, ideology is looked upon as one's own self-serving agenda. In politics, calling someone an “ideologue” is akin to branding them as a nefarious fellow.

(c) Yoga: The term yoga used to be related with Lord Shiva, Lord Krsna, and the great Himalayan sages etc; now it refers to skinny females in tight clothing doing stretching exercises.

(d) Avadhuta: The term avadhuta is a renunciate of the highest order, but now it refers to dogmatic Hindu sannyasis who move naked on the street in India.

By our good deeds negative will change to positive

We have to keep Baba's aforementioned example in mind. Baba outrightly told the margiis not to change the name of Ananda Marga just because the general public held a poor opinion of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. So by Guru's example alone it is quite evident that we are not to change His given terms simply because the public holds a poor opinion of those words.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Time to time, one point comes to the fore: Should we change our Ananda Marga terminology and cast aside particular terms given by Sadguru Baba simply because those words, in select circumstances, hold a negative connotation in the general society? The answer is no.

Nindantu niitinipunah yadi va stuvantu

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "If I am too concerned with those who praise or censure me, I will not find time to do my real work. As I have come to this world only for a short period, my only concern should be to keep on doing the duty the Lord has assigned to me. And while doing this allotted duty, I should remember that I belong to Parama Puruśa. I have come from Him, and I will have to return to Him – and to do that, I must complete my allotted duty." (1)

Conclusion

As His disciples we are also to safeguard the authenticity and veracity of His discourses. That means we are to keep them as is, and not change even one word. Only cowards - affected by public opinion - will be tempted to change Baba's teachings. Whereas true dharmikas will stand firm on Baba's teachings and guidelines.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The scriptures containing spiritual injunctions must be totally flawless." (2)

Namaskar,

Sulekha’

Should we change all "controversial" terms

If we are going to change our term "cult" simply because the general society holds a poor opinion of the term "cult", then so many other words in our Ananda Marga philosophy will have to be changed. We will have to change the name of the swastika in the pratik because people have a negative view of the swastika symbol. We will have to change our Supreme Command as people do not like the phrase: "To throw oneself into the tortures of animal life for crores of years." And there are countless aspects of our Ananda Marga philosophy and terminology which we will have to change.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

For instance, the term "revolutionary" strikes fear in the hearts of many as they associate revolution with blood and battle, but in Ananda Marga we use revolutionary in a 100% dharmic and positive manner. But since the term revolutionary is controversial in the general society, under this pretext we will have to banish it from our Ananda Marga books and vocabulary as well.

Or take the case of the word dharma. Baba uses the term "dharma" in Ananda Marga to refer to bhagavad dharma, i.e. living in a righteous manner, doing sadhana for one's own liberation and serving the society. Yet the Hindus also refer to their Hindu dharma which means to base one's life on the ritualistic approach of Hinduism, i.e. following the dogmatic caste system etc. Should we therefore remove dharma from our books / vocabulary as well.

If we were to adopt this protocol with each and every word that is potentially controversial, then there would be countless books and discourses given by Baba that would need to be changed and His divine ideas would be lost. Baba's teachings are unparalleled and He uses words and symbols in a new way. We should be ready to strictly stand by His chosen terminology, lest His every discourse be changed.

The central notion is that Sadguru Baba has given His terms and definitions, and we should abide by His teachings and not get swayed by public opinion.

Note 1: Mass suicide by cult followers

Here is one example how the term cult became something really bad.

Families Learning of 39 Cultists Who Died Willingly

By B. Drummond Ayres Jr. - Published: March 29, 1997

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif., March 28— After fielding more than 1,500 telephone calls from anguished relatives across the country in the last 24 hours, investigators said today that they had identified 30 of the 39 members of a millennialist cult who had committed mass suicide in a hillside house here. Unearthly tunes & melodies

Note: Only those who sincerely practice the higher lessons of sahaja yoga meditation can understand this song in the depths of their heart.

PS Intro: This below song reflects that deeply spiritual truth how Parama Purusa is always graciously calling the jiivas towards His Infinite Self through His eternal sound of omnkara - His murali dhvani, the divine sound of Cosmic Consciousness.

"Tumi je d́ekecho ámáy, áj je ghare tháká dáy, kii jádu áche tava rág ráginii te, bujhite náhi párá jáy..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0736)

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, You have called me to come to You. It is impossible for me to remain here in my abode, wasting my time in mundane attachments and ignoring Your call. I want to respond to You. What magic is there in Your tunes and melodies. It is difficult to comprehend how wonderful and unearthly Your tunes and melodies are, through which You are communicating with me. You are the nucleus of charm.

Baba, the Divine Entity, in the abode of my mind, the blissful vibrations of Your bánshii resonate incessantly - ceaselessly. By Your grace, I hear Your cosmic flute always: While sleeping, in my dreams, and in my awakened state, I hear omkara sound. I think only about You - it is Your grace. You are residing in my heart all the time, all the 24hrs. Prabhu, I feel the pain of longing for You. To relieve myself of that angst, I want to forget You. But how can I when You are there in my heart, always.

Baba, my Parama Purusa, no matter how many octaves I know, I am unable to sing Your glory. Your greatness is beyond narration. You remain beyond all musical melodies - out of the reach of my mind. By going close to You my entire I-feeling gets suspended in samadhi. My Supreme Guide, Your rhythms, the songs of Your exquisite flute, and Your blissful resonance make me float beyond all the lokas and establish me in the supreme realm. It is Your krpa.

Baba, the Ever-Present Entity, please give me shelter at Your lotus feet...

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #0736

[1] Bánshi / Flute: Ananda Marga ideology states, “The rhythm in which the vibrational flow of the cosmic mind vibrates the annamáya kośa of individual microcosms – veins, nerves, arteries, blood, lymph, etc. – is the initial stage of the divine cosmic sound. When this sound is heard in the anamáya kośa it resembles that of a cricket. When this cosmic sound vibrates the kámamaya kośa it resembles the sound of ankle bells. In the manomaya kośa it resembles a flute; ... in atimánasa kośa, the resonance of a gong; in vijiṋánamaya kośa the buzzing of bees or the rolling of ocean waves; and in hirańmaya kośa, a prolonged oṋḿ sound. Thus the cosmic sound is expressed in various ways according to the degrees of crudity or subtlety in relation to the fundamental factors. There are various physical and psychic expressions centring around the various degrees of cosmic sound. When one’s mind is confined to a particular stratum one hears the sound peculiar to that stratum only. A person who lacks concentration of mind cannot hear any expression of the cosmic sound. In the field of spiritual practice the divine sound is expressed in a spontaneous way.” (1)

Occult power & degeneration

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Videhaliina: those who run after occult powers and think, “I will attain such great occult power that with it, I will move from place to place.” These are all luminous bodies; they are not ghosts, nor are they positive or negative hallucinations...After death, when the mind dissociates from the body, the accumulation of unfulfilled saḿskáras or reactive momenta remains, although the body with the five fundamental factors no longer exists. Thus, the mind cannot function, but it remains in potential form." (1)

Note: Videhaliina is one type of microvita that is under punishment. Such types of unfortunate beings get degenerated and become microvita. They could not be reborn as human beings made up of five fundamental factors. Instead, due to their desire for occult powers, they are cast off as beings with only a few factors - they lack the solid and liquid portions. So they are suffering and wish to once again get human life. But this will come only after they escape from the noose of the long-term bondage and state of punishment etc.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Hence the spiritual aspirant must not run after these inconsequential occult powers, although while prasticing spiritual cult they may develop. You must not forget that all your achievements must maintain adjustment with the main propensities of the mind, and in the process of adjustment, all these eight types of occult powers present themselves to the spiritual aspirant.” (2)

Ananda Marga ideology states, “While practising spiritual cult, it should be remembered that spiritual aspirants must not practise in order to acquire these occult powers. The goal of spiritual practice is to realize the Supreme Entity. To search for any other thing is wrong. Occult powers are just like the dust on the roadside. The attraction for Parama Puruśa is the most valuable object – all else is only the dust of the earth.” (3)

How people address feared enemies

Those who do not know Ananda Marga philosophy think that certain micovita like devayonis are something great. In the past, with fear, people used to give a respectful name to those who terrified them. So when common folks see devayonis they could not understand anything - just they were terrified of them. Just like villagers do not like to call a snake a snake - they call it a creeper, i.e. as if it is the same as any vine that grows by creeping along the earth and bears fruit and flowers. Similarly, people do not call hitmen hitmen, rather they call them sir. This does not mean they have deep reverence for them rather based on fear. That is the same way how the term devayoni was formed.

Facts of Four AMURT's

Namaskar

*🚩"अथ श्री AMURT कथा........🚩"*

*AMPS has been divided in to three but don't get surprised that Anand Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) has been divided into four (4). After AMPS division in 2003, Kolkata registered a new NGO namely AMURT in 2004 or 2005 which was not challenged by Ranchi, hence two AMURTs in running. After the death of Ramanandji, who was SG and Chairman, Sri SS Goenka chose his nephew (भगिना) Sri Vijay Agarwal of Mumbai as new chairman. AMURT is registered at Sri Goenkaji's company office address at Lower Parel, Mumbai. Sri Goenkaji continued as secretary of AMURT.*

After demise of Ramanandji, AMURT gone out of hands of Ranchi. They were compelled to form another NGO in the name of AMURT from the address of Sri Subodh Sinha, Pune making him Vice-Chairman.

AMURT International is operated from Switzerland and controlled by a Margii Bro. Bhola.

Original AMURT- with Sri Vijay Agarwal & Sri SS Goenka, mostly inactive.

2nd AMURT- Registered and operated by Kolkata

3rd AMURT- formed and operated by Ranchi

4th AMURT- run by Bro. Bhola from Switzerland

Unnecessarily overwhelmed

Generally when Ananda Marga philosophy is compared with the theology of other religions, even in a respectful manner, then some uninformed people get overwhelmed.  They forget that Baba encourages respectfully pointing out the defects of various religions. See Baba’s teaching below.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Read any so-called religious book: one will seldom find anything resembling tolerance of the religious beliefs of others...If necessary, different views can be compared and presented in philosophical books. The philosophical and psychological loopholes in an argument may be pointed out without being disrespectful.” (1)

Due to their unawareness they think, “Do not point out any harmful things practiced by other religions.” They believe Baba forbids this. To remove their confusion, the above yellow highlighted quote may help.

Without bringing the logical point and respectful discussion of loopholes of various religions, it is not possible to open the eyes of the common people that what they are doing is wrong and harmful to them. That is why religious loopholes should be highlighted in a respectful manner.

Why and what in sadhana

Ananda Marga ideology states, "First stage being getting over the small 'i'. After getting above the small 'i' to some extent, in the second stage, humans should fight against their mental defects. For example, if one is afflicted by some kind of superiority complex, or inferiority complex, one has to fight with that.  Some may be afflicted with attachment (moha). So, all these mental defects one is to fight against in the second stage. Humans may possess some willpower to fight against these defects but that alone is not enough. One need to constantly make endeavor to overcome the mental defects. This require additional strength or power. This power will come from Parama Purusha's grace alone."

"Sa'dhana' does not provide us with anything. All Sa'dhana' does is to facilitate the grace of Parama Purusha. So, one is to ask for the power to fight against his/her mental defects from Parama Purusha. One should earnestly say, "Parama Purusha, I would like to march towards you but I do not have strength in my knees. You provide me power and I'll walk towards you." (1)

Solution to flickering mind + 8 more

Baba
Solution to flickering mind
Namaskar,

Many desires make sadhana impossible: The basic rule is that when a person has too many desires – i.e. more than one desire – then one cannot be successful in sadhana. Then sadhana is impossible. Sadhana becomes just a distant dream as the mind roams from one worldly longing to the next. The way to get Parama Purusa is to harbour only one single desire – Him. Then sadhana is easy.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Parama Purus’a or the Supreme Entity can only be realized...when one has a one-pointed desire to realize Him. There is no other way. Without exclusive devotion to Parama Purus’a nothing can be attained…To attain Him one must cultivate one-pointed devotion for Him." (1)

If one’s mind is full of all kinds of desires – "I want wealth"; "I want prestige"; "I want name and fame"; "I want this"; "I want that"; – then when one sits for sadhana, all those ideas will flood the mind, not the idea of Parama Purusa. In that case, their sadhana will not go far – one will not get Parama Purusa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Unfortunately, due to materialism and all the worldly allurements and attractions that come with it, many who try to practice meditation cannot get success. However, one should not lose hope nor think that sadhana is beyond their reach. Only one should be aware about this stumbling block. Once the problem has been identified then it can be removed as well. And verily Baba has given the solution so that all can get success and attain Him in sadhana.

Ask for parabhakti

Here again, the main idea is that a sadhaka’s longing (a'kuti) should be singular in nature. One should think in the very core of their heart: "I want Parama Purusa and Him alone."

At times this may seem impossible, but Baba has given us many ways to achieve this spiritual stance of bhakti. First, one should request Him: "O Parama Purusa, please attract me towards You, please grant me the highest bhakti – parabhakti – so that I may reach You."

Ananda Marga ideology says, "You should say, "O Parama Purus’a, give me para’bhakti"." (2)

All other desires in life are subsidiary or secondary desires. The only true desire one should have in life is to serve and please Him. When that desire is cultivated, all other desires will fade away. By His grace, when that desire for Him is set in the mind – other desires wane – then one will be pointed toward Parama Purusa in sadhana. In that case, when one places a sincere request before Him, i.e. when one asks for parabhakti, then surely Parama Purusa will help, then Parama Purusa is sure to shower His grace.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

If one’s mind is full of all kinds of desires – “I want wealth”; “I want prestige”; “I want name and fame”;”I want this”; “I want that”; – then when one sits for sadhana, all those ideas will flood the mind, not the idea of Parama Purusa. In that case, their sadhana will not go far – one will not get Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga ideology says, “Parama Purus’a or the Supreme Entity can only be realized…when one has a one-pointed desire to realize Him. There is no other way. Without exclusive devotion to Parama Purus’a nothing can be attained…To attain Him one must cultivate one-pointed devotion for Him.” (3)

Multi-purpose vs. uni-purpose

Here is one central difference between Parama Purusa and human beings. Human beings are multi-purpose in nature and unilateral in approach whereas Parama Purusa is uni-purpose in nature and multilateral in approach. The question then is what does this mean? It means that human beings have countless desires (multi-purpose) but can only do one thing at a time (unilateral), whereas Parama Purusa has one desire (uni-purpose) – i.e. universal welfare – and can do infinite works at a time (multilateral).

Because of this basic human limitation, people often dream of getting so many things – money, prestige, name, fame etc – but in the end they can do nothing – neither in the worldly nor spiritual spheres. Drowned in all those desires, they cannot apply themselves properly toward any particular goal. To achieve anything, one’s desire must be singular in nature. If one harbours multiple desires then they will be unfocused, i.e. diffuse. Those unaware about this fact cannot develop or grow properly, and they end up misusing their life and wasting their time on this earth. Such people aimlessly run around senselessly after one desire or another.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

As human beings, our strength and ability is limited but when we approach Him with a pure heart, then certainly He will be gracious.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "To overcome their imperfection and establish themselves in the higher stratum, they will have to seek strength from Parama Purus’a, they will have to approach Parama Purus’a with these words: "Parama Purus’a, I want to move towards you, but I do not have sufficient strength to move. Please give me strength, I want to move on." (4)

By His grace, when one goads all their desires towards Him, the mind will be focused in sadhana. And they will attain the Supreme Rank.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Dayavrata

~ In-depth study ~

One should run after anandam

The way out of this myriad is to strive for what is permanent - i.e. Parama Purusa. He must become the only Goal in life. To run after all the glitz and glamour of this transitory world – getting something only to lose something else – is no way to live on this earth. Yet most do like this. We see this every day. A person buys a fancy item and they break it or lose interest in it and end of desiring something else. In this way, life spins in a multitude of directions – desiring, getting, and then losing again. Such an approach is sheer blindness. Just one is intoxicated in the spell of materialism etc.

The situation can be likened to rowing a boat toward a moving target. The position is always shifting and one will not reach anywhere. Just one will go here and there, yet end up nowhere. The goal will not be reached because the goal itself is something elusive, transitory. Such is the case with mundane allurements as well. People run after an array of sparkly objects, yet that will lead them nowhere. In the end, they will have nothing. Because those things are not permanent. The only answer then is spirituality: To strive to attain Parama Purusa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Skillfully transform passion into love

Even then, any sadhaka may wonder, "How can I only cultivate the desire to get Parama Purusa when I have so many worldly obligations." Here Baba gives the solution.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The attachment for a finite thing is an expression of extroverted energy, whereas the attraction for the Infinite is an expression of the introverted energy. That is why these two can never co-exist. Therefore the aspirant has to skillfully to transform passion into love. Do you love your son? No, no you don’t love your son. You love Brahma in the form of your son. By loving your son as a son, you cannot love the Lord. Where there is the feeling of son, there is no Lord and where there is the Lord, there is no son. Where you exist He does not and where He exists you are no more." (5)

Thus when plunged in mundane problems and worldly responsibilities and when one has many things to attend to, then the sadhaka must think this all belongs to Parama Purusa. My son is not my son; my home is not my house. Everything is a manifestation of the Supreme. In that way, an aspirant can attend to a wide array of responsibilities and duties, yet still cultivate the sole desire of getting Him and Him alone. Then the desire is only one.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Fix mind on the goal

The chief limitation of the human mind is that it can focus on one thing at one time. Rather than be swayed by the passing fancies of this mundane world, one must focus the mind on the Supreme Goal. With that pointed mind one's sadhana will be successful, by His grace.

Ananda Marga ideology says, “When Lord Buddha first sat in contemplation, his goal was not fixed. There was doubt and confusion in his mind. He was not certain of what he wanted. And so, whatever he wanted, he was not certain of getting it. But later, when Buddha sat in contemplation...he took a complete saḿkalpa. He fixed his goal and made a firm determination to achieve it. He resolved that he would not get up from his contemplation until he attained spiritual realization, even if his body perished. Then he succeeded in attaining his goal. The firmness of a person’s resolve makes him great. However lowly a person may be, he can become great by his determination. If you have a firm resolve to realize your goal, you shall become great. Without a firm resolution, you cannot achieve anything.” (6)

Nature of this liila

Ananda Marga ideology states, "During the enactment of a drama, all the characters, the dramatis personae (some are acting as great scholars, some fools, some as extremely happy and some as wretched beings) should bear in mind that they are simply playing the roles allotted to them. They should always think, “In reality, I am neither very happy nor very miserable, I am not an erudite scholar nor a fool. I am merely acting a particular role-be it Emperor Shahjáhán or Aurangzeb.” If people remember this, they will neither be afflicted with sorrow nor elated with joy. This is what is called cosmic inheritance, cosmic heritage."
"All have come from one and the same Entity; no one is inferior, no one is small, mean or untouchable. No one is born high or low: all are bound by fraternal and sororal bonds." (1)

Why no world govt? Leaders want their jobs

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The more time is passing by, the more the glare of casteism, provincialism, communalism and nationalism is fading away. The human beings of today must understand that in the near future they will definitely have to accept universalism. So those who seek to promote social welfare will have to mobilize all their vitality and intellect in the endeavour to establish a world organization, abandoning all plans to form communal or national organizations. They will have to engage themselves in constructive activities in a straight-forward manner, instead of resorting to duplicity and deceitfulness."
"Many people say that divergent national interests are the only impediments to the formation of a world organization, or a world government. But I say this is not the only obstacle, rather it is just a minor impediment. The main obstacle is the apprehension of local leaders that they will lose their leadership. With the establishment of a world government, the total domination which they exercise today in their respective countries, societies and nations will cease to exist." (1)

क्यों जी ? न, तुम तो परमपुरुष से उत्पन्न हुए हो

Kill the one coming to kill you

Suppose you are living in a remote village where the police are not available, and in the dark of night criminals try to kidnap your teenage daughter, or plot to kill you and loot all your property. In that case follow, Baba's below guideline from Senior Acarya Diary:

Screen Shot 2017-08-15 at 5.37.44 PM.png

It depends upon the law of the land as to what the courts will decide. That varies from country to country. But, regardless of that what the law states, according to bhagavad dharma, killing the person who has come to kill you is not a sin.

Why books which excite people’s sexuality sell extremely well

Ananda Marga philosophy says,"These days Sáhitya Sarasvatii [the goddess of art and learning] is mortgaged to Lakśmii [the goddess of wealth], for the value of the goddess of learning now depends upon the favours of the goddess of wealth. Whatever the quality of the writing, if the publisher is well-established, the book will sell well in the market due to effective advertising. Thus the indigent sáhityika suffers humiliation as he or she cringes at the doors of reputed publishers; and publishers are quick to exploit this situation in their favour. Due to publicity stunts and propaganda, it has become impossible for the common people to know which book is good and which is not." (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "There is a flagrant dearth of developed critical literature or critical magazines in every country of the world. Books sell in the market on the strength of publicity skills, or on the strength of how they excite the lower human propensities, or in some cases by their crude ability to provide entertainment for the common masses. That is why we find that books published by the authors themselves, regardless of how good they are, do not sell well in the market. On the other hand, books which excite people’s sexuality, whatever might be their content or language, sell extremely well." (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "...Thus sales are not a criterion for judging the superiority of a book. It is therefore a great problem for the readers, purchasers and library directors to select books, and there will be no solution to this problem as long as high-quality critical literature and critical reviews are not available." Marital relations: sadhana’s special role

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The attraction towards earthly things born out of lust (káma) and attachment (moha) makes conjugal relations a necessity. Intuitional practice helps one to overcome this need. One becomes indifferent to it. So the question of giving it up for intuitional practice does not arise. It was said earlier that sádhaná is waging war against Prakrti and defeating Her. The force of intuitional practice is certainly greater than the strength of Prakrti, and by means of it one can attain Brahmacarya.” (1)

Why liberty in physical sphere must be regulated

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In this socio-economic [PROUT] set-up people are at full liberty in the spiritual and mental spheres. This is possible because the spiritual and psychic entities for which people can aspire are themselves unlimited, and the extent of possession in this sphere does not hamper the progress of others in their quests. But the supply in the physical sphere is limited, and hence any effort for disproportionate or unrestricted acquisition of physical objects has every possibility of creating a vast majority of have-not’s, and thus hampering the spiritual, mental and physical growth of the larger majority. So, while dealing with the problem of individual liberty, it must be kept in view that individual liberty in the physical sphere must not be allowed to cross a limit whereat it is instrumental in hampering the development of the complete personality of human beings; and, at the same time, must not be so drastically curtailed that the spiritual, mental and physical growths of human beings are hampered.”

“Thus, the social philosophy of Ananda Marga advocates the development of the integrated personality of the individual, and also the establishment of world fraternity, inculcating in human psychology a Cosmic sentiment. The Marga advocates progressive utilization of mundane and supramundane factors of the Cosmos. The society needs a stir for life, vigour and progress, and for this Ananda Marga advocates the Progressive Utilization Theory (Prout), meaning thereby progressive utilization of all factors. Those who support this principle may be termed “Proutists”.” (1)
