Baba kept low-profile, why? + 3 more

Baba
Baba kept low-profile, why?

Namaskar,

Before 1971 there was a strict guideline not to glorify Baba, and only highlight Ananda Marga ideology. And veritably the old magazines like Ananda Duta and Ananda Loka etc never published any story glorifying Baba. Why did Baba not allow this?

Why Krsna's & Shiva's teachings fell by the wayside

During the time of the first and second Mahasambhutis on this planet, the general society was immersed in personality worship; those followers were not adhering to any ideal. Just they were worshipping the idol of Lord Krsna and the statue of Lord Shiva - and doing all kinds of rituals etc - but never caring about the teachings of those two Mahasambhutis. Rather those worshipers imposed their own preferences - all done in the name of Lord Krsna’s and Lord Shiva’s teachings. For instance, those who liked to smoke hashish claimed that Lord Shiva smoked hashish - and they justified that it was therefore  appropriate to smoke it. So first they would offer hashish to Lord Shiva and then they would smoke the rest as prasad.

Baba did not want that same type of degeneration to befall our Ananda Marga. He did not want Ananda Marga philosophy to be left by the wayside, while people worshiped His idols and disobeyed all His guidelines. For this reason, He set the strict rule not to glorify Him in public venues or via any media etc. Only sadhakas were to write about and propagate Ananda Marga ideals.

Unwanted people would come & disturb

The second reason why He did not want to be glorified is because then all kinds of worthless people would come on the scene and hover around. They would want to have darshan with God incarnate, Taraka Brahma. Yet Baba had many important works to do and needed serious disciples in His presence, not just lookers etc. So for this reason also, glorifying Baba was not allowed those days.

As per His divine liila, by 1971, huge negative propaganda started about Baba - the Guru of Ananda Marga. So the common people became ultra-wary and scared of the path of Ananda Marga.

Culprit: inadequate propagation of AM ideology

Such is the cosmic liila of Parama Purusa. When He comes in physical form He hides Himself from the masses and meets with His bhaktas. Due to the nature of His liila, those masses do not even wish to go close - rather the opposite. After the jail period the name of Ananda Marga was tainted, so when margiis started telling that Baba is Parama Purusa then only those blessed with bhakti could understand. The general populace could not believe that. So a huge crowd of unworthy people did not flock unnecessarily.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "A study of history will make it clear that a strong and healthy society has not yet evolved on this planet. This is mainly due to the inadequate propagation of an ideology. Although at different times a few people thought of establishing a strong and healthy society, they used argument and debate instead of deliberation and reason to convince others of the need for such a society, and ultimately ended up projecting themselves instead of the ideology. Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away because people started worshipping them as mahátmas [elevated souls] or mahápuruśas [spiritual beings]. Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (1)

Conclusion

As disciples of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji, we should follow in His footsteps. Our main duty is to propagate Ananda Marga ideology and practice it in our day to day life. Some misguided people think that we should first start a school, construct a building, or create a so-called holy land etc, while the propagation of AM ideology can be done later. Here propagating ideology means following the tenets of Ananda Marga. Following groupism and leading a degraded life is not following Ananda Marga ideology.

However, devoid of Ananda Marga ideology, whatever we do in the field of social service is worthless. Constructing houses, buildings, and roads is not some new and dynamic approach. All kinds of groups with narrow interests and sectarian perspectives have done those works for their group or caste etc. However, what they utterly lack is a universal philosophy for the welfare of all; they do not have Ananda Marga ideology. That is why the whole globe is burning. Without practicing Ananda Marga teachings one cannot propagate them either. The first and last work - the summum bonum - is to practice and propagate Ananda Marga ideology.

in Him,
Shrii Deva

Why some very talented & some fools

Here is an English summary of Baba’s original Bengali teaching from His morning general darshan on 31 Dec 1981. Specifically, Baba is unveiling the science behind why some children are very intelligent, and some may be less so, or even fools. This is a very important science to know about - so come and have a look.

We see in this world that sometimes a person is very intelligent by birth. Some have special qualities that other people do not have. Some are geniuses in music; some are geniuses in speech; some have very sharp memories - why is this so? The kind of action that a person does in each and every part-life, that is, the way a person uses that part-life, as a result of that action, he acquires an ability, a qualitative ability. Ability here means "potentiality". So, after death, when he comes to the next part-life, the previous quality, the previous ability to work, then emerges. Therefore, that quality is manifested from childhood. That is what we call genius.

In contrast, the works that a person does in their present life through effort are his accumulated quality of that life itself; he is acquiring that quality within that life - not from a prior part-life. And in this way, what do we call everything that a person gets in one life, everything that he learns? Technique. And we call that person a technician.

In conclusion, that technique of the previous life which remained in potential form, became manifest in the next life, became manifest in the next part-life, that is what we call genius. So, genius is an inborn faculty. And, what is a technician? The man who has developed his ordinary talents up to an extraordinary degree of efficiency. So, what we get by effort in one life, that is technique. And that is what becomes genius in the next part-life. (1)

Becoming superman

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Spiritual thirst is the speciality, or rather the special characteristic of human beings. And there lies the difference between man and the other animals. Where there is no spiritual thirst in a man, physically he may be like a man, but actually, psychologically, he is not a man. So this special determination of human beings should always be encouraged so that a man may develop from an ordinary human being to a superman." (1)

When 1 rupee is more than a million dollars

According to Ananda Marga teachings, the value of any donation is based on the degree of sacrifice involved. If one has great heartfelt feeling for a particular cause and is willing to do anything and everything to help those suffering people, then his offering will be very meaningful and of great value. Even if he can only afford to give a few rupees, his donation will be very significant. In contrast, if a wealthy millionaire cares little for suffering humanity and undergoes no trouble by donating RS100,000 then his donation will pale in comparison to the generosity of the poor person who gave a few rupees.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "The charity of a few paise of the poor has the same value as a thousand rupees from a millionaire. Indeed the charity of those few paise is greater." (1)

How to do away with private property

Prout philosophy states, "Among those who support the elimination of private ownership, some consider that adequate compensation should be paid before taking over landed properties, factories and commercial enterprises. Others consider that, until now, the capitalist owners of such enterprises have perpetuated immense exploitation, so the question of compensation cannot arise. If the payment of compensation continues for a long time, it is very true that the rapid welfare of the people will not be possible. Hence, the proposal to purchase the properties of capitalists cannot be supported."

"It is also true that the owners of such properties are not always physically fit or financially well off. The owner of a property may be a helpless widow or an extremely old invalid. In such cases, certainly, a pension should be arranged for them. Of course, if the owner of a property happens to be a minor, then, definitely, a stipend has to be arranged for his or her upbringing and education! Even in the case where the owner is a strong and healthy man, if there is no other means of livelihood, suitable opportunities will have to be made for his income, according to his qualifications and capacities. This is the proper humanistic arrangement." (1)
