Why not glorify + 5 more

Baba

Why not glorify

Namaskar

Those who want to highlight themselves are going against Baba's fundamental teaching. That is the theme of this letter: In a confused state they are moving in the wrong direction. It is understood that Baba condemns those who indulge in self-praise. In fact, in any civilized society self-praise is not openly accepted as it looks ridiculous - just a grand display of an outsized ego. People are ridiculed for this, so they refrain from praising themselves openly or directly.

Rather, in those so-called, seemingly civilized societies, when people have a strong desire to be praised, then they hire some other persons for this task by giving them some payment or post. And they keep those hired persons nearby; and their duty is to praise. This is the regular tactic that is done. Many egocentric kings were like that in the past. They kept certain ministers only for the special duty of praising the king. This was the only work of those ministers.

These days also many politicians pay money to the newspapers to get their self-glorifying propaganda published. To highlight their own personality politicians do like this. But this self-praise has never been accepted by a truly civilized society, or by balanced and rational people.

Now people blatantly glorify themselves

Now, however, society has become even more degenerated. Up to a few decades back no normal or respected person was feeling comfortable announcing, “I am great, I am extraordinary. I did this….” - and so on and so forth.” People would never do this for themselves; rather they had others do it for them - as noted above. But now we are in a new era; society has since changed. It is far more degenerated than earlier. Comparatively, people became so self-centered and self-engrossed that they lost their sense of propriety and impropriety. They lost their sense of decency and civilization. Now they come forward and praise themselves openly, with no shame. The ongoing situation with the various people is a glaring case of such self-propaganda. If they were more civilised they would not yearn to be praised.

These days people have become very self-centered, and this has only been compounded with the rise of social media where people glorify and gloat about their each and every action and work. Aside from social media, in various parts of the world many even prepare their own tombstones and glorify their life before they die. Otherwise they fear that after their death nobody will care about him. So they do it themselves, when previously their sons and daughters were doing this job. Those who are self-engrossed cannot think about others. Just they are busy in thinking of their own self. So in their natural course they forget about all decency and indecency, or propriety and impropriety of their behaviour.

“Please stop praising yourself so much”

We Ananda Margiis have come in the shelter of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. We have to leave the path of dogma and follow His noble ideas - and bring our life from darkness to light. Here below Baba gives the teaching that self-glorificationis not good. One should not give way to vanity. Those who have vanity lose their sense in their speech and writing. That is why those engrossed in establishing themselves indulge in self-praise without the least care. And they forget whether what they are doing is right or wrong. With an imbalanced mind they say, do, or write something so over the top about themselves that it is altogether intolerable to others.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "“Kiirttaniiyah sadáharih”. Kiirtana should be done on Hari and on no other entity. One should not praise oneself or any other person. There are many people who are very fond of praising themselves by telling everyone what wonderful things they have done, but, as mentioned in this sloka, kiirtana is not for one’s own self but for Hari. Even though people are taught to do kiirtana for Hari, they still make the mistake of praising themselves too much. Sometimes their self-praise is so intense that others are obliged to say, “Please stop praising yourself so much.” They forget that their self-applause is rather boring for others. Human beings should realize that no one likes to hear the self-praise of others." (1)

In Him,
Jiivendra

In Prabhat Samgiita #337, says, “A’lokera path cha’r’ibo na’...A’mi nijere praca’r karibo na’..."

Purport: O' Lord, I will not leave the path of Ananda Marga ideology, the path of effulgence. I will never leave the path which You showed me. By Your grace I will change myself according to Your desire. By Your grace I will make my mind straight, focusing on You and propagating Your glory. I will never glorify my own existence. I will never propagate my own personal glories, attributions, or accomplishments. I will never praise myself in front of anyone. I will never glorify myself in this way. Because You have taught me to propagate the glory of the Supreme - the glory of Parama Purusa. So I will never praise myself….

Future of the arrogant bull

In this following story about the egoistic bull our Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji guides us.

Ananda Marga ideology says, “We have seen bulls moving about in the streets with an air of arrogance. Such a bull creates a sound expressing the idea that it is big- Ham bar’a’. But when the bull dies and ta’nt [vina string] is made out of its intestines and musicians start playing on it, the sound which is then emitted expresses the idea Tun bar’a’- meaning thereby that the bull realizes that others are big, and realizes that he has arrived at this condition because of his arrogance.” (2)

This bull-like situation we see unfolding nowadays in some so-called civilized societies.

Guru's direction: During breakfast, Baba would regularly read Ananda Marga newspapers / bulletins. If an AM newspaper was not available He would not take food till He received one. At DMC gatherings, Baba used to tell everyone that they should first read AM newspapers and support its cause.

Accept my sastaunga pranam

"A'ma'r pran'a'm na'o tumi prabhu, toma'y a'mi bha'laba'si..." (Prabhat Samgiita #2692)

Purport:

O' Prabhu, please accept my sastaunga pranam. I am surrendering everything at Your lotus feet. I love You so much. Your eternal flute calls me continuously through the omkara sound. That exquisite vibration resounds in my sleep, dreams, and awakened state.

Baba, I search for You in my each and every action. Keeping Your name in my heart, I go on fighting against all difficulties and dangers in my life, whenever and wherever they arise. In this entire universe only You are most adorable for me. I perceive You in each and every thought, word, and deed. My body, mind, and heart have become one with You. My whole existence is saturated in Your ideation. It is Your krpa’.

Baba, O’ Parama Purusa with a smiling face, You always float in my vision. Please shower Your karuna on me incessantly. Whatever my needs are, You always fulfil them. You have removed all the cimmerian darkness, dogma, negativity from my mind. By Your causeless grace, You are doing everything for me. Baba, I am pulled by the longing for You in the depths of my heart. Please accept my sa’s’t’aunga prana’m...

Who is better

Ananda Marga ideology states, “The word “godly” and “god-fearing” do not have the same meaning. Behind godliness is a soul-stirring sentiment – an ardent zeal to realize one’s true Self; and the reason behind the fear of God is the important attempt to escape from the consequential suffering of one’s misdeeds. Yet the latter is still superior to the atheists, because at least for fear of divine punishment they refrain from sinful acts. The greatest advantage of the theists is that they do not endure the pangs of internal clash. But no matter how brazenly sceptics indulge in tall talks or sharpen the edge of their verbal weapons to win in an argument, there is always a fight going on in their minds. Reading a few pages of a book or listening to the eloquences of a few speakers, they seek to violate their own nature. With their fragmental external knowledge they try to struggle against the indivisible Supreme Entity, and in the end, being defeated, they say, “If He does exist, then why can’t we find Him?” Yet all the while their inner selves lament within them.” (1)

Note: There are three key and important points from the above teaching.

(1) The religions preach that one must be God-fearing otherwise God will punish and destroy you. They think that is the best possible relationship one can have with the Divine, i.e to be God-fearing. According to Ananda Marga philosophy, fear is the worst type of relation with God. If one fears Him they will not like to go close to Him. In which case, one can never become one with that Supreme Entity. So it is very obvious that by this religious formula, no one can realize God.

(2) The teachings of Ananda Marga are the topmost: Ananda Marga preaches that one should cultivate love for the Divine Entity. By that way, the bhakta wishes to go close to Him and ultimately becomes one with Him, by His grace.

(3) The status of atheists is worse than followers of the dogmatic religions. Religious adherents refrain from doing bad due to fear of the Lord. But atheists have two problems. First, they do not have any genuine, dharmic rules in their life. Secondly, such atheists perpetually suffer from existential issues. With their logic they say they do not believe in God and try to disprove His existence, yet their heart tells them otherwise. Then their logical mind retorts, “If God exists then why can I not see Him?” So they live in a perpetual dilemma—always in limbo. The all-knowing Baba knows everyone's thoughts and He says that no one is an atheist. In sum, the condition of such atheists is pathetic as they live in perpetual crisis and misery.

Inherent dangers of party politics

Prout philosophy states, “Party politics is one of the factors which stands, or tries to stand, in the way of human unity. In fact party politics is even more dangerous than disease-causing germs. In party politics all the refined attributes of the human mind, such as simplicity and the spirit of service, slowly but surely get totally destroyed. Party affiliation commands more respect than individual ability; service to self, not service to people, is the main motto; ministerial office, rather than human welfare, is considered superior; and mass deception, political somersaults, etc., are most common phenomena."

"Instead of rectifying themselves, politicians want to accomplish everything through their grandiloquence. By identifying the weaknesses in others and by resorting to bombastic language, they incite one section of people against another so that they can usurp the seat of power and cling to it. Human beings will have to remain vigilant against persons of this type."

"Politicians want to poke their noses into every aspect of life: social, religious, educational, literary, etc. Under the hypnotic spell of power, politicians remain oblivious of the fact that experience and wisdom in various spheres of life cannot be acquired by merely mouthing high-sounding slogans from public platforms." Which foods cause tuberculosis & leucoderma
Ananda Marga Yogic Treatments says, "If any person is long habituated to eating badly-combined foods, such as meat, fish, eggs and similar támasika foods immediately before or after milk, kśiira [a kind of rice pudding] and similar sáttvika foods, then those foods create a favourable condition in the body for tuberculosis.” (1)

Ananda Marga Yogic Treatments says, “Constipating foods should be strictly avoided. Foods which increase the amount of pitta should also be rejected. Fish, meat, eggs, ghee and large quantities of spices usually weaken the liver and bring about constipation, which is one of the causes of leucoderma. In this disease fish and other non-vegetarian foods are very harmful, hence they are to be avoided like poison. No matter how great is the desire for non-vegetarian dishes, patients shall have to control that desire. Leafy vegetables such as heleiṋcá, gimá, ámarula, bráhmii, etc., are most beneficial for leucoderma patients." (2)

Idiot vs thoughtful + 5 more

Baba
Idiot vs thoughtful

Namaskar,

People commonly want to keep their material wealth, prestige, or beauty forever. They think their happiness lies in those mundane qualities. So they go to great lengths and extraordinary measures to protect those treasures. But alas, it is a losing battle. Indeed it is a foolish approach.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Big questions

The basic, inherent, tendency of this world is that in the next moment everything is going to change. Nothing can keep its current structure as is. This whole universe is grounded in mobility. Verily, this globe itself is always rotating and revolving and it were to stop it would collapse. So movement is a must. That is the law of nature.

What do you want money and prestige?

So in this world of perpetual change, materialists are going against the grain by thinking they can maintain all their worldly assets, possessions, and qualities. Things like prestige, reputation, property holdings, stock values, public image, physical appearance, and social status etc cannot stand the test of time. They are bound to wane and disintegrate. The only thing in this universe that is non-changing and permanent is Parama Purusa, God. Everything else is in a state of constant and perpetual change. Those trying to find lasting happiness in the ephemeral expressions of this changing universe will meet their Waterloo. So only His shelter is safe.

This truth must be kept in mind. If you know and adjust with this fundamental truth then you will be happy. In contrast, those trying to keep their mundane wealth and qualities forever and live under that shelter are not reflective. And in the end they will be unbearably miserable. Not only will they lose their possessions but they will lose any chance of inner tranquility and peace as well. The only logical and rational option is to take shelter in Parama Purusa.

Every human being should be aware of these facts. It is just like if one knows that a hurricane is going to come then they can prepare adequately and survive the storm. Whereas those who are not aware about the impending hurricane may get wiped out completely. In the same way, every human should be educated about the transitory nature of this world; for this reason they have come into human form.

That is why it has been said:
Tyaja durjanasaḿsargaḿ bhaja sádhusamágamam;
Kuru puńyamahorátraḿ smara nityamanityatám.
The overall sense of the above shloka is: Give up bad company, keep good company, and always remember that this world is transitory.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

Everyone comes onto this earth to find and experience lasting happiness. Naturally then, if one can discover a recipe for achieving happiness, then that is quite meaningful. This letter discussed one key nugget of information about finding happiness in life: Everything in this mundane world is mobile. If you keep this truth in mind, adjust with this mundane world, and aim for the spiritual realm, then your mental peace is assured.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology states, “The wise do not absorb themselves in the glitter and glamour of the fleeting entities of this transitory world. They focus all the zeal of their hearts upon the Eternal Principle that is the original cause behind these moving entities. Ensconced behind every change is the One Who witnesses every transitory entity deep within that Supreme Entity, who is the only Entity.” (1)

In Him,
Turiiya

O’ human beings!

Note: This following song is to warn those who are demons in human form and by their nefarious work are destroying the peace by spreading poison and killing the innocent.

"Manus' manus' ha'ra'ye hunsha kotha'y calecho tumi.
A'ka'sh ba'ta's bis'iye diye narak kare marttyabhu'mi..." (Prabhat Samgiita 1190)

Purport:

O’ human beings, have you lost your sense of rationality - where are you going. You have started moving on the path of dogma, annihilation, and ruination and made this beautiful earth poisonous with the dogma of groupism etc.

O’ people of this earth, you feel you are greater than all other living beings - animals, plants, birds etc. Bound by feelings of superiority, you think those creatures have been placed on this earth solely for your personal enjoyment, and that those beings have no existential value of their own. Don't you see the shadow of death approaching fast to destroy your audacity.

O’ human beings, you have forgotten the eternal truth that whatever strength you have is coming from Him - Parama Purusa. He has given you your physical body and mind to serve all. Everything stems from Him; He is the source. Now fulfill your duty and help everyone advance. Move across the universe doing your work, without being deterred by any obstacle….

Observations about fish-eaters

Here is an English summary of Baba’s teaching from in Bengali from Shabda Cayanika - 20, (Bangla), Disc #156:

Fish quarrel so much among themselves; they are quarrel mongers. They eat each other; they feel jealous towards one another; and, they also have the tendency to wander around aimlessly in an undisciplined, disorderly manner. Because fish have these negative qualities, the general public has long thought that those who eat fish become contaminated by these same defects. (English Summary)

Note: Amongst all of India, the most densely populated fish-eating area is Bengal. Baba says that the majority of the population of Bengal is kaevarta (fisherman community). Throughout Bengal, there are a huge number of lakes, ponds, rivers, and water sources; that is why fish flourish there. In Bengal fish are known as "water fruit". Except for very strict, devoted margiis - which are very few in number there - most of them like to eat fish.

Dowry: countless girls commit suicide, forced out of jagrti

Namaskar,

Jethu Singh is the Bhukti Pradhan of Bayara Dit in Surat Diocese in Gujarat. He has taken Rs 11 lakhs as dowry in his son’s marriage.

Whereas Sohan Dev is Bhukti Pradhan of Pali Dit in Ajmer Diocese in Rajasthan. Sohan Dev is a "Tattavika" as well. He has taken Rs 2 lakh as dowry in his son’s marriage. Son-in law of Sohan Dev was Bhukti Pradhan of Jalor Dit.

In both cases, the bride's family had to incur a debt to pay the dowry.

Taking huge dowry qualifies you to become BP

Jethu Singh and Sohan Dev both are still working as Bhukti Pradhan of Ranchi AMPS in spite of so many complaints. Ac Satyashrayananda Avt has been supporting them.

Ac Satyashrayananda Dada has instructed Karan Singh Rajpurohit not to raise this matter in WhatsApp, or email, or in Facebook. Satyasharyananda Dada told him that, “Ananda Marga will get a bad reputation due to this dowry incident. So please raise this matter only to GS Dada, not in media.”

Due to these types of practices hundreds of unmarried girls commit suicide on a daily basis after pouring petrol on their body and igniting themselves and leaving the note that to relieve the financial on my parents I had to commit suicide. That is why Baba opposed dowry.

Baba did not like to see the the face of those margiis who took dowry. They were forced out of the jagrti. That is why no strict margii accepts dowry. Baba's mandate is that if a dowry has been given then do not accept even a drop of water let alone a feast on that wedding day. But in this case Wts attended, supported the marriage, and feasted like gluttons up to their neck.

Then whole thing is sad. Now these dowry-takers are leaders of their bhuktis.

In service to Guru,
Kalyan

Note: 11 lakhs is what an ordinary citizen earns as daily wages (before taxes) over the course of their lifetime. They save nothing. This is the situation in India. So you can imagine how huge it is to pay / receive 11 lakhs dowry.

Baba story

Once a margii said to me while waiting on line for BABA...to go in field walk in 1980-81.

Govinda I'm gonna ask BABA three questions when He comes out.
Oh no I said your not? , yep I am he said I'm gonna say...
1) BABA may I touch Your feet?
2) May I have Your personal blessing now..?
3) May I take Your picture?

Now I was embarrassed he would ask  especially the third question ..

So as was the habit we were singing kiirtana...BABA walked slowly
HE stopped near Vikash knowing what was coming. BABA can I touch Your feet?
BABA was serious eyes closed..BABA nodded with a soft angular sweep of his head.

BABA can I have Your blessing?
Same motion...Vikash stooped down quickly and up again with a grin I'll never forget

Then came the silly question
BABA can I take Your picture ? BABA scrunched up his face and said with feigned disgust with his silly child ...NO not now!
BABA was then driven off in the old resurrected Desoto car.

Vikash turned to me and said, "See Govinda...two outta three ain't bad!"

at His feet,
Govinda

Re: Margii rights seized

Namaskar,

Question: What is one of the key differences between the pre-1990 BP Manual and the 1997 Fake BP Manual?

Answer: Please know that from the original manual margiis will elect the bhakti pradhan (BP). Wts have no role in suggesting or voting in the BP election. But the fake BP manual states that Wts select the candidate and then margiis will elect that person as BP. And if Wts don't like the outcome they will arbitrarily remove the BP and put anyone else, without margiis having any input.

in Him,
Jagadmitra
