Mindless repetition, not sadhana + 4 more

Baba

Mindless repetition, not sadhana

Namaskar,

When a sadhakha does sadhana and repeats their mantra, then it may happen that the mind goes somewhere else. As soon as the sadhaka realises that their mind has run far away, they bring it back and again start repeating their mantra. Then again, the mind might drift off elsewhere. In this way, the mind runs away - again and again - and time passes. This is a very bad situation, yet not uncommon.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Parrot repeats words meaninglessly

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "A parrot says so many things, without understanding the meaning, without understanding the spirit of what is meant. Japa kriyá becomes as meaningless as the talk of a parrot for those who do it without love or emotion. It even loses the value of internal suggestion, intro-psychic suggestion...Where the Supreme Cognition is not loved, where the Supreme Cognition has not been accepted as the only object of adoration, withdrawing one's propensities becomes meaningless, because they are not guided unto Him." (1)

The crucial point is to cultivate love for Parama Purusa. Then the bhakta's mind naturally runs in that direction - i.e. towards Him - and one's mantra japa flows smoothly. Otherwise, without love for Parama Purusa, one's mind runs hither and thither. In that case, the sadhaka's mantra japa is like a parrot's talk. The parrot does not have any feeling for what it says. It just repeats those words meaninglessly, and when a problem comes that parrot cries out and forgets what it was repeating earlier. Such is the situation of a sadhaka whose mind wanders in sadhana. The key point for keeping the mind focused is love for Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Where there is no love, the mind will not run after Him. So dhyána also becomes meaningless...So, if people practice all these things without having love for the Supreme, they won't be able to get anything. But, if there is an iota of love, if there is a wee bit of love, they gain everything." (2)

Attraction towards Parama Purusa is bhakti

The requisite love or bhakti can be cultivated if one tries to engage in more and more spiritual endeavours. Then the mind will become accustomed in that way. For example, the first day parents send their child to school, the child does not want to go. After much pain and effort the child goes. Yet once the child is habituated to going to school, then it likes school more than staying at home.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The same is the case with sadhakas. When the mind is down then it does not like to do sadhana. Rather the mind just runs away. Yet as the mind engages more and more in spiritual endeavours, it becomes more attracted in that manner and likes to do sadhana. It is just like the child who gets accustomed to being in school. Likewise, the mind becomes accustomed to being in a spiritual flow.

That liking or attraction towards Parama Purusa is bhakti, whereas the allurement towards worldly things is asakti. When one engages in sadhana oriented endeavours like svadhyaya, kiirtan, sadhanaunga, japa, and thinks about Him off and on throughout the day, then the mind will develop a greater and greater proclivity towards spiritual life. In turn, one will develop more attraction towards Parama Purusa, by His grace. That is love or bhakti.

When that happens, the mind will not run away unknowingly and uncontrollably during sadhana and engage elsewhere. Rather it will stay fixed towards that spiritual Goal. That is the key ingredient and solution. Then this disease of absent-mindedness in sadhana will be resolved. That is the stage when the mind will not run away in sadhana but rather become fixed on Parama Purusa.

Conclusion

Due to a lack of understanding the parrot does not have any feeling for what it says. It just repeats those words meaninglessly. Without love for Parama Purusa, one's mind runs hither and thither. The key point for keeping the mind focused is cultivating love for Parama Purusa during meditation.

Today’s materialism is recipe for crude samadhi

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Persons who are self-centered (Khuda parasta), don't have Paramatman as their goal, but something else. Outwardly they say that Paramatman should be obtained but in their inner mind they have the desire for something else. Such people who outwardly say that Paramatman should be obtained but in the inner mind they desire for fame, riches, have the crude object as their goal. Whatever the inner mind says is the goal of the Jiiva (microcosm). Whatever is the feeling in the external mind is not the goal. But in the inner mind, because of his goal being the crude object his ultimate achievement is known as Prakrtiliina. Prakrti means the phenomenal world. Their existence will be transformed into the phenomenal world i.e. the conscious man gets transformed into crude object. There is one more word for the Samadhi in the Prakrta Shakti and that is Jada Samadhi. Jada Samadhi is very much below human existence and to be free from that is also very difficult. After crores of years there will be human life. Just see how dangerous it is! So with Parama Puruśa, don't have two personalities, inside something and outside something else. Become the same as you are within. Entire mental structure, entire ectoplasmic stuff will be converted into the quinquelemental world." (1)

Note: Unfortunately, these days under the negative influence of capitalism, human beings have degenerated to the level of animals in that they are equally self-centered, living only for themselves, and not caring about others. In (a) capitalist countries and (b) metropolitan cities around the globe, this problem is prevalent. People are so self-centered that they never care about others - not even their own offspring. Such selfish people are worse than animals. This entire scene is the negative outcome of capitalism, which itself converts humans into beggars and beasts. Their selfish mentality is the root cause of all the problems. In the end they will be metamorphosed into crude objects.

No one can arrest the speed of human progress

“Clouds cannot overcast the sun for a long time. The creatures of darkness never want the expansive exaltation of human society. Even then, human beings shall march ahead. No one can arrest the speed of their progress. You must be the harbingers, you must be the pioneers of this victorious march. See that not a single individual lags behind.” (Ananda Vanii #36)

How to help non-sadhakas + 3 more

Baba
How to help non-sadhakas

Namaskar,

Any sincere Ananda Ma’rgii who is propagating the spiritual teachings often experiences a common problem: the problem of people thinking that AM teachings are very difficult to follow to an extent of being “impractical”. After all, in most religions, there is a scope of consumerism which seems so natural to people. Some people do understand the value of the sublime teachings of AM like the use of sattvik vegetarian food but then think that “I cannot manage such a lifestyle as I cannot give up my old habits.” Most people in the world think on the aforementioned lines. The question then is how to help such people and bring them on the spiritual path.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Can’t give up meat-eating yet practice asanas

Baba has taught about the Ga’yattri Rk wherein a prayer for showing the right path to the Parama Puruśa has been given. Those who cannot follow other teachings of AM should be given the lesson on Ga’yattri Rk. Such people can then earnestly pray to Parama Puruśa for showing them the right path using the meaning of the Ga’yattri Rk in their mother tongue on a daily basis. The proper meaning of Ga’yattri Rk should also be explained to them. With this practice, gradually the desire for Parama Puruśa will arise in their minds. As Baba says, with an intense desire one attains Sadguru. The dogmatic people should be provided the same Vaidiki diiksha’ that the ancient rishis used to do. By the sincere and repeated chanting of the Ga’yattri Rk, they will become ready for the 1st lesson of Ananda Marga meditation.

Ananda Sutram says, “Muktyákáunkśayá sadgurupráptih.

[Out of the intense desire for mukti (liberation), one attains one’s sadguru (perfect master).]

Purport: When a vehement desire for emancipation wakes up in a person, he or she attains his or her sadguru [true spiritual preceptor] on the strength of that desire.” (1)

For those who do not want to believe in God

For those who want to learn meditation but do not want to believe in God should be provided the same lesson that is given to the children in AM. This lesson should be practiced twice daily at least for one minute in the beginning. The duration of mediation has no limit and can be increased based on one’s capacity to 2 - 5 minutes or even more. The meditation should be practiced once in the morning and once in the evening before the meal.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Like AM but cannot quit ta’masik food

Such people should be taught that they may continue their lifestyle but should practice Kirttana intensely. Even non-margiis can practice kiirtana. By the constant practice of kiirtana, the desire for Parama Puruśa will arise in their hearts and a gradual transformation will begin.

Conclusion

Those non-margiis who cannot follow the teachings of AM should be given the lesson on Ga’yattri Rk. Such people can then earnestly pray to Parama Puruśa for showing them the right path, using the meaning of the Ga’yattri Rk in their mother tongue on a daily basis. By the sincere and repeated chanting of the Ga’yattri Rk, they will become ready for the 1st lesson of Ananda Marga meditation.

~ In-depth study ~

Gayattri Rk

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “In ancient times there were two recognized stages in the process of initiation. The first one was Vaedikii diikśá, that is, initiation as per the Vaedik [Vedic] school of thought, and the second one was Tántrikii diikśá, that is, initiation as per Tantra. The most important mantra in Vaedikii diikśá was the “Gáyattrii Mantra”. The spirit of Vaedikii diikśá was to pray to God to get the proper path, the path of bliss; and the spirit of Tántrikii diikśá was to move along that path. In the first phase the aspirant requested God to show the path, and in the second phase the sádhaka had to move along that path. And this “Gáyattrii Mantra” was the most important mantra in Vaedikii diikśá.” (2)

Teaching meditation

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “When children are five years old and attain some awareness, the parents, brothers, sisters or any guardian may initiate them in Náma Mantra [the preliminary process of meditation]. They should be taught to sit in padmásana [lotus posture], but instead of interlocking the fingers, they may rest one palm upon the other; and keep the spine erect. They will then be instructed to feel or imagine that everything around them, and whatever they visualize, is Brahma.” (3)

Why junk food

The main thing is that spirituality brings a deep and irreversible transformation in an individual unlike intellectual persuasion which is superficial. With an intellectual persuasion, one may temporarily learn something, but it does not sow the seed of determination in one’s mind. A person who has learned something out of intellectual persuasion may compromise under extenuating circumstances. This is not the case for one who is guided by the power of spirituality. For example, consider a person who is following sattvika diet due to intellectual persuasion. When such a person undertakes a train journey wherein proper food is unavailable, they begin to think that, “If I do not eat then I’ll die of hunger” and may compromise with whatever junk food is available. One who is basing one’s decision on spirituality will have firm determination. Therefore, the main thing is spirituality; once the spirituality germinates in one’s heart the mind changes irreversibly and one can accomplish the greatest goal of life. Just like a small lit lamp is enough to end the reign of Cimmerian darkness, the ray of spirituality overcomes the darkness caused in one’s mind due to avidya’ma’ya’. With such an approach, the life will be fully transformed.

Your spiritual brilliance

"Ámi to tomáre bhávini jiivane, tumi mor kathá bhevecho..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0643)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, throughout my entire life I never thought, ideated, or meditated upon You properly, yet with affection You think about me always. Your arrival into my life is just Your causeless grace. In my narrow, shallow, and dry heart, in the deep corner of my mind, You have secretly come and made Your place, making my unhappy life full of bliss. Now You are showering Your compassion; it is Your ahetuki krpa upon me.

Baba, the accumulated clouds of uncertainty and dilemma which were overcasting my mind since ages due to my own ego, vanity, ignorance, and asmitá etc, all that gloom was removed in a flash. With spiritual vibration You pulled me close to You, showering Your causeless grace abundantly. You have done so much.

Parama Purusa Baba, You are the heavenly refulgence of the spiritual world and the life of the lifeless. You are the heart of my heart as well as my most intimate One. Please accept my surrender - my sastaunga pranam. You have showered Your spiritual brilliance and opened my eyes so I may see right from wrong. You have graciously given me patience to remain calm in all situations and lovingly bestowed samvit so that my unit consciousness can merge into Cosmic Consciousness. What have You not done - You have done everything.

Parama Purusa, in my life I never thought of You, nor did I do proper meditation. But even then You have loved me so much. Baba, You are ever-gracious...

Note For Prabhat Samgiita #0643:

[1] Asmita': Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Drkdarshanashaktyorekátmatevásmitá [“When people at the height of their foolishness forget the distinction between the subjective and objective counterparts, or confuse one with the other and say completely nonsensical things, that mental defect is known as asmitá”]. As asmitá is devoid of any discrimination, people with this mental defect lose their power of discrimination. First, they think that since they are so great, there is no need for them to learn anything from others. As a result of this, their further progress comes to a halt. Secondly, the arrogant attitude of this asmitá banishes from their minds the humble psychology of the learner. They lose interest in learning anything useful; so not only in the world of knowledge, but also in the world of practicality, they become misfits in life because of their mountainous accumulated ignorance."
"It is not that arrogance of this sort simply obstructs their progress. The human mind, like the human body, is dynamic. No one has come to remain here; everyone is moving – for movement is a must. Now, the mind whose further progress is blocked will also have to move this way or that; so when one must move, but the path of progress is blocked, one is compelled to move along the path of degradation. Thus the arrogance born of this asmitá will lead people towards their downfall. This arrogance, which makes them want to display themselves, forgetting all other things, is termed ahaḿkára [vanity]. The predominant vrtti behind it is aham [ego]: “I am everything, there is nothing beyond and outside me.”" (1)

[2] Samvit: Ananda Marga ideology states, "Samvit means spiritual consciousness, spiritual awakening. A man engaged in bad things all of a sudden feels that “No, I shouldn’t do all these things. No, I should be a good man henceforward.” Such an idea all of a sudden comes in his mind. And this thing, this change of mental tendency, is brought about by samvit shakti of Vidyámáyá. Do you follow? This is what is called samvit shakti. “No, henceforward I must be a good man. No, henceforward I must be a spiritualist. I must not encourage any depraving idea.” Samvit shakti." (2)

Banana uses

Ananda Marga Ideal Farming states, "Banana trees are known more for their fruits than for their fibre. Both the fruit and the flower can be eaten, and when the tree is young the inner trunk can be taken as a vegetable as well. The leaves are used for plates or for wrapping food. Sodium carbonate may be obtained from the banana tree by burning the trunk into ash, and sodium bicarbonate may be obtained by boiling the ash until the water evaporates. There are numerous products which can be made from the banana tree. The fibre is obtained from the trunk of the tree. The greater the size of a tree, the greater the quantity of fibre, but the same rule does not necessarily apply for the quantity of fruit produced by the banana tree. Not more than two offshoot saplings should be allowed to grow from one banana tree. The extra shoots should be cut. There are many varieties of banana." (1)

Our special pracara approach + 3 more

Baba
Our special pracara approach

Namaskar,

The various religions and spiritual groups use stories of greatness and mythical tales about their leader to attract new people. They recount how their prophet or saint healed the sick of incurable diseases, or made gold watches appear from thin air, or so many other grand tales they tell to lure new followers. Yet by this approach, no one makes progress along the path - only the self-serving priest benefits by projecting his own so-called greatness and amassing more followers and donors etc. Side by side, the evils of society continue and dogmatic religious exploitation mounts.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

After listening, people may conclude...

In our Ananda Marga, our approach is entirely different. The uniqueness of our Ananda Marga is sadhana, i.e. direct, personal experience of Parama Purusa. On the practical side, we teach and emphasize the importance of spiritual engagement - kiirtan, meditation etc. And on the theoretical side, we do pracara with new people, and talk to them about our philosophy using logic and reasoning - encouraging the spirit of inquiry and rationality. Whereas the religions only rely on blind, unquestioned acceptance of their beliefs and miracle stories about their saviour or leader to gain new followers.

If we also follow such an approach - and only tell stories of Baba's glory to new people - then the public will think we are no different from those religions. Those new people will never truly understand Guru's greatness. No one can realise Baba as Parama Purusa through theoretical means alone, i.e. stories etc. Sadhana is needed.

When anyone does sadhana sincerely, they invariably gain their own experience and begin to realise who Baba is. With that experience, Ananda Marga philosophy will be more clear and convincing. And they will become a greater adherent of Ananda Marga ideals. They will not be swayed by naysayers or controversy because they will have their own internal link with Parama Purusa. They will be able to weather any storm.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Without sadhana, one will not even be interested in the teachings of Ananda Marga. Or, in their heart, they will never be truly convinced of those teachings and stories. Rather they will always remain in doubt and quandary.

Glorifying oneself instead of the ideology

Ananda Marga teachings guide us, "A study of history will make it clear that a strong and healthy society has not yet evolved on this planet. This is mainly due to the inadequate propagation of an ideology. Although at different times a few people thought of establishing a strong and healthy society, they...ultimately ended up projecting themselves instead of the ideology. Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away because people started worshipping them as mahátmas [elevated souls] or mahápuruśas [spiritual beings]. Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (1)

What to be taught to newcomers

So sadhana is an absolute requisite to become a firm adherent of the teachings of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji, and feel a magnetic attraction towards Parama Purusa. Deep within, by His grace, one will embrace Him as Parama Purusa. Then all those bhakti stories about Baba will be very inspiring and beautiful. So all kinds of Baba stories are highly beneficial for established sadhakas - but stories should not be our main pracara tool with new people. The practical approach of sadhana is the main thing. Then people will be able to come close and understand His divine teachings. And this is true for longtime sadhakas as well.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Everyone in our Ananda Marga should challenge themselves to do more sadhana. And this is what makes our Ananda Marga unique. That makes one's link and relation with Parama Purusa more close; plus that sadhaka will feel that Baba's each and every teaching is special and extraordinary. Without the practical approach of sadhana, there is no hope for becoming a true Ananda Margii and realising Baba as Parama Purusa. With sadhana He is within Your reach, whereas if one relies on stories and theoretical knowledge alone, He will remain out of their grasp.

As we have seen, there are some examples of people who entered into Ananda Marga but could not remain for the long haul. There were many aspects of our Ananda Marga way of life which they liked: Retreats, Baba stories, vegetarian food, seminars, social service etc. But when challenges arose, due to a lack of sadhana, some did not have the mental strength to continue to forge ahead. Rather they gave up all that they were doing. Everything was going fine until they encountered a problem which they did not expect. And that single problem knocked them from the path because they did not have the requisite mental cum spiritual force that comes from sadhana. Lacking this, they were unable to persevere and forge ahead. So they left and forgot everything they learned.

What to do to stay in AM

Another circumstance that arises is when a sadhaka has been continuing for years in a particular mode. They have been maintaining a degree of engagement and participation in all kinds of ideological activities and pursuits. Then that begins to wane little by little with seemingly no precipitating cause. Until finally they completely remove themselves and discontinue all those works. Then people wonder what happened - why did that person leave. The answer is that they stopped doing their sadhana.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

So long as they were doing sadhana they could properly manage all kinds of dharmic works. That sadhana was their food, energy, and propulsion for doing all sorts of things in a smooth and easy manner. But as soon as that sadhana stopped, they no longer had the inspiration and mental force to carry out those various works and projects.

It is just like if everyday a person carries a 40kg box without any difficulty but then one day that individual is not given the requisite amount of food. Then for a day or so they will only carry a percentage of the weight they were carrying - say 15 or 20 kg. But as they are given less and less food - their capacity to carry anything wanes until finally one day they will completely desist from carrying anything at all. In this instance, the food was the energizing force for their physical involvement.

Similarly, in the psychic and psycho-spiritual realm, sadhana is the propelling factor for enabling one to continue their journey forward on the path of bhagavata dharma Ananda Marga. As soon as one’s sadhana dissipates or stops, their entire movement towards divinity will slow down or even come to a halt entirely, regardless of how active they were.

Conclusion

If we want new people to continue along the path then they should be encouraged with sadhana - not just external stories or superficial praise. Their sadhana experience will make them a veritable soldier to overcome all kinds of obstacles and difficulties and reach the apex of human existence. And not just for new people, every single Ananda Margii should properly maintain their daily sadhana, otherwise interest and adherence to dharmic pursuits will wane - whereby even a long-standing, committed sadhaka will become a shadow of their former self.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

So on this point of sadhana, no one is immune - no one is impregnable. For proof, just take a look around. Every single Ananda Margii is aware of some new people who could not stick to the path, as well as some seasoned Wts who abruptly left without any notice. Because tantra is the path of Sadguru’s divine ideology and that demands sadhana. That is the sole contributing factor for being an ideal Ananda Margii and progressing on the path towards Parama Purusa.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Satyadrasta’

Without ideology nothing achieved

Ananda Marga teachings guide us, "A study of history will make it clear that a strong and healthy society has not yet evolved on this planet. This is mainly due to the inadequate propagation of an ideology. Although at different times a few people thought of establishing a strong and healthy society, they...ultimately ended up projecting themselves instead of the ideology. Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away because people started worshipping them as mahátmas [elevated souls] or mahápuruśas [spiritual beings]. Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (2)

Raise consciousness of the people

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “As the situation stands in the world at present, the rule of Sadvipras as advocated by PROUT is the only solution to this vexed problem. However, it is a fact that the rule of Sadvipras will only come about through the systematic and rational application of PROUT by many highly intelligent people. It is not possible to establish the rule of Sadvipras by blind physical force or idle intellectual extravaganza. So, it is the duty of the vanguard of human society to reveal the present predicament of society to the people so that they can understand the real truth. They should make an all out effort to raise the consciousness of the people at the earliest.” (3)

Your playing field

"Tomár májháre kata mahávishva nihita, tomár báhire kichu náit..." (Prabhat Samgiita #4742)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, so many great cosmoses are situated within You. Outside You, there is nothing; no entity can exist beyond You. In Your vibration, waves, and exalted status, I find everything - whatever I am searching for. The whole universe lies within You.

Parama Purusa, everything, from the blade of grass up to the creative faculty, is Your sport and toy. You are playing with them always. Baba, You are the shelter of one and all, but You Yourself do not need any shelter. Everything lies within the periphery of Your playing field. Whether in the external world, in the core of my heart, or in the flow of my mind, in whichever direction I look, I get You.

Parama Purusa, Baba, within the vibration of my heart You are remaining eternally through Your ota and prota yoga. In the rhythm of my life, You reside as tunes and melodies. In the tempo of my heart, You exist as song and dance. You are that Entity who is my closest and resides in an isolated corner of my mind. Due to attraction and love, with intense longing that is burning like fire, I go close to You secretly...

Blessing: forget past lives

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Forgetfulness is a providential decree. Usually human beings forget their past lives. Is this forgetfulness a blessing or a curse? It is a blessing because human beings feel burdened by the weight of one life. It would be impossible for them to carry the burden of many lives together."
"The human mind is sentimental – full of love, affection, camaraderie, etc. People have a deep attraction to this world; they remain preoccupied throughout their lives with fears and anxieties for the safety of their families. So many problems have to be confronted. The problems of one life alone are enough to make people restless. If they had to face the problems of several lives, they would be unable to lead a natural life. The problems of the past lives, compounded by the strife of the present life, would drive them to the brink of insanity. Secondly, it is difficult for people to be detached from love and attachment for one life. So much effort is required to overcome the bondages of attachment and march towards Parama Puruśa. If the memory of the past lives is revived, the bondage of attachment will tighten its grip, putting a halt to spiritual advancement. One will be caught in the grip of worldly attachment. Thus the decree of merciful providence is, “Let human beings be oblivious of their past lives.”" (1)

Why psychic ailments common

In this modern age, scientific development has made significant progress; in comparison, human psychic and spiritual growth has lagged far behind. In result, psychic problems and mental tension have multiplied in a geometrical progression. The final outcome is that nerve, brain, and heart diseases have become quite common; and anxiety, nervousness, and insanity are widespread in the society. The remedy for this has been given in our Ananda Marga ideology:

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "While doing work one should ideate, 'It is the work of Parama Purusa; it is not mine. I am doing His work to please Him'. By following this approach mental tension, nervousness, and psychic diseases will never arise. And also samskaras will not be formed." (1)

Very sweet & loving PC + 3 more

Baba
Very sweet & loving PC

Namaskar,

“Help propagate the Ananda Marga philosophy, and serve humanity unselfishly.”

These were the words of the Master. Yes, this, in effect, is the penance He gave me.

Getting a glimpse of Baba at airport

On June 12, 1968, when we, the members of the Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha in the Philippines, celebrated His birthday. We were apprised of the supposed mysteries surrounding His birth. It was also during that day when I learned that there was an invitation made for Him to visit the Philippines.

9 o’clock p.m. of June 20, 1968, found me at the Manila International Airport as one of the curious welcomers of the Master. Shortly thereafter, at about 10:30 p.m., the much-awaited Qantas Airways plane bearing the Master and His party arrived. As it screeched to a stop amid the deafening noise of its engine, I ran and edged my way towards the farther end of the airport’s open-air terrace to have a glimpse of the Master.

What does He look like? What sort of a person is He? These were the questions that nagged my mind. After a few minutes I saw, from my vantage position, two men-one was tall, thin, and wearing a beard attired in a tangerine-colored robe, the other, --short, a little stocky with no beard, attired in a white robe. That must be Him, I said to myself, the shorter one.

Receiving Baba that evening

Together with two companions, I proceeded to the house of Bro. Cunanan where we helped arrange a candlelight reception line to welcome the Master. After about an hour’s suspenseful waiting, He and His party arrived. I had then a closer look at Him. He has no beard after all. On the contrary, His face is smooth as silk. He greeted almost all of us there with the sweetest smile I’ve even seen with his hands clasped together before His breast.

He did not deliver any lecture during that night. We were told that He would make His appearance the next day.

The Master delivered philosophical lectures twice daily during His stay in the Philippines. One thing though I noticed in the Master, aside from His thought-provoking philosophies, is His voice. It is very soft, so much so that sometimes, I cannot immediately grasp what He was trying to say.

On Sunday of June 23rd when the Master was delivering His discourse at the Masonic Temple to His disciples, I heard something unusual happened. Reports had it that the Master’s image did not appear in the film. I don’t know why.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Then on the night of June 24, during our meeting at Bro. Cunanan’s residence, I heard narrations of an unusual experience that three of our co –aspirants had during their personal contact with the Master.

Memorizing Supreme Command

June 25—The Master was scheduled to fly to Baguio City, together with some aspirants. It was already 6 o’clock in the morning of that day when I decided to go to Baguio.

I reached Baguio at around 3 o’clock in the afternoon of the same day. After checking in at a cheap hotel and taking a belated lunch, I proceeded to the Pines Hotel where the Master was supposed to be. At the lobby of the hotel, I saw an acarya together with some of my co-aspirants. I asked acarya jii if I could also have personal contact with the Master. He answered in the affirmative. He then requested me to memorize the “Supreme Command”.

At last the much-awaited hour came. Five of us were on the list. I thought I noticed that one is a Hindu who happened to be a merchant from Baguio City, while two are Chinese. We were all waiting at the corridor of the hotel adjacent to Master’s room.

My PC with Baba

Then my turn came. As I entered the Master’s room, I saw Him reclining on His bed. He then beckoned me to come closer to Him. After asking for my name, He asked me to cite the sins I had committed. I was reluctant at first to tell Him. In the first place, I did not expect Him to do that. Secondly, I am not used to making confessions. As far as I can remember, I only made four confessions before Catholic priest in my entire life. I do not believe much in confessions, to be frank.

However, when the Master asked me to do so, I suddenly felt as if there was a strong force for me to comply with His wish. The unusual thing about it is that He seemed to know the details. When He asked me to cite another, I was at a loss what to tell Him, not because I was unwilling to tell Him, but because I somehow had forgotten about it. When I could not recall the same, it was Master who told me. And He was correct.

After receiving some admonitions from Him, He motioned me to come closer to Him again. “You are my son; I am your Father.” As I complied with his request, He embraced me tightly and kissed me like a true Father. In reciprocity, I also hugged and kissed Him. Never in my life have I experienced such a feeling of bliss as during those moments.

“You are alright now My son,” He said.

Conclusion

As I left His room, I could not stifle my tears. They were not tears of regret, though. They were tears of joy because at long last, I found the truth.

In Him
C. San Gabriel

Ananda Marga ideology states, ““If even sinners ideate on me, accept me as their only object of ideation,” sayeth the Lord, “they will be freed from all worldly fetters, all worldly bondages.” Sinners must attain salvation, must be freed from all sins, all bondages of sin, by the Supreme Father. So for the virtuous and also for sinners, the Supreme Father is the only shelter. The Supreme Father is the only object of ideation. What are sinners to do? They are to forget their past, and they are to move ahead on the path of spirituality to attain that supreme stance. To come in direct contact with the Supreme Father, you are to serve the universe as the ideal daughters and sons of the Supreme Father. You needn’t be anxious. You must not have any worries and anxieties about your personal problems. Your problems are to be solved by the Supreme Father. You serve the children of the Supreme Father as the ideal daughters and ideal sons of that Father.” (1)

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Now even if a man is that type of sinner whom other sinners may take as a bad man, of whom even sinners may say that he is a bad man – for such a sinner, the worst type of sinner, the future is not dark. The future in his case also is very bright, if he takes shelter in the divine lap of the Supreme Father. “I am on the lap of my Father, I cannot be a sinner.” Suppose you are walking along the path and your dress, your clothes, become muddy due to dust or clay. Then should you think that you will remain nasty or dirty forever? If you appear before your Father with dirty clothes, what will your Father do? He will clean your clothes and take you on his lap: “O my son, your clothes have become muddy, but you are my son. Come here, come here, sit on My lap. I am your Father, you are My son, you must not suffer from any sinner’s psychology.” Do you follow? So even if, in the past, you were sinners, forget it. Remember that from this very moment, you are the neat and clean son, you are the neat and clean child, of the Supreme Father. So there must not be any psychology of sinning complex. For a spiritual aspirant, there must not be any complex. Be free from all complexes, and move along the path of righteousness with a balanced mind, with mental equilibrium and mental equipoise. A bright future awaits you.” (2)

Plagiary?

It is the accepted international standard and Baba's system not to copy another's work and publish it in your own way. Baba has given a very strict rule on plagiarism. Why is Baba against plagiarism or stealing someone's work? There are many reasons:

1) It is against the code of asteya (non-stealing).

2) Countless stories of bhaktas need to be published. But some do not want to do the hard work of compiling and writing these stories, so they just steal them from others. But new stories need to be told, otherwise so many unpublished stories of sadhakas will be lost and forgotten forever. So watch out for story thieves, and kindly help them not to steal by posting on social media in their own way. If you want to forward this story then attach the following yellow section with the story:

“Courtesy of unknown bhakta via Ananda Marga Universal (https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/)”

This will be treated as the standard protocol.

Margiis should do intellectual service

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Then, jagaddhitáya ca. A person is doing everything for his or her own spiritual elevation, own liberation, for complete emancipation. That he or she is doing for his or her liberation is well and good, but is he or she not a selfish person? Whatever one is doing, one is doing for one’s own liberation – but one is not doing anything for others. You say – is it not a fact? The person is selfish. So while one is doing something for one’s own liberation, one is to serve others also. And how is one to serve others? The best service is viprocita sevá [intellectual service].” (1)

Note: Every Ananda Margii, whether they be a WT, a family person, or an unmarried margii, has to perform service for the welfare of others. While all of the various types of service are needed and valued, in His above teaching, Baba guides us that viprocita sevá is the best service. Here the point is that viprocita sevá means teaching and preaching Ananda Marga ideology, and that has a lasting effect on the one being served. They are gaining a whole new outlook and understanding. For instance, if you feed an impoverished person a meal when they are hungry then that is very good, but then again that person will need to eat in another 6 or 8 hours. So that service is important, but short-lived. In contrast, if you teach a person about eating a sentient diet, or how to dance and ideate in kiirtana, or yogic breathing techniques, then that dharmic information will have a lasting effect on that person. That is why viprcita seva is the best.

So, in the appropriate circumstances, every Ananda Margii has the right, and indeed the bounden duty, to perform viprocita sevá, i.e. propagating the ideals of Ananda Marga. On this matter, everyone should be crystal clear and proceed ahead without any hesitation. So if family margiis are inspired to (a) host classes, (b) organize various types of scenarios to guide others on the individual or collective level, or (c) teach and preach AM philosophy then that is very good; it is dharmic and should be encouraged. General margiis need not wait for a Wt to come on the scene in order to preach AM ideals. Rather, they should take Baba’s name and guide others about AM teachings and AM philosophy. Every Ananda Margii should know that they should seize every opportunity to teach others about our Ananda Marga principles and way of life. In this regard, there should not be any apprehension or doubt.

What divided AMPS

Prout philosophy guides us, “Human unity is purely an ideological unity, which means unity in the psychic sphere. Where there is psychic unity, physical unity will also occur. In the realm of unity, unity is always psychic – ideological unity means unity in the subtlest level of the mind. However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another. So to avoid this there should not be any scope for exploitation in society. And to ensure this we have to start a new order to safeguard the interests of the exploited masses. So for a proper social synthesis what we require is a common philosophy of life; that is, ideological unity. But to check exploitation in the physical sphere requires something more than this, and this something more comprises a common constitutional system, a common penal code, and the availability of the minimum essentialities of life.” (1)
