PS & prayer + 3 more

Baba
PS & prayer

Namaskar,

The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good. In certain deeply spiritual Prabhat Samgiita compositions, the sadhaka is making a request unto Parama Purusa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

For instance, suppose in a song the bhakta is saying:

“My Parama Purusa, please grace me, and give me parabhakti, the highest yearning for You, and take me onto Your lap.”

#1: Seeing this, some may think that this is a form of prayer.
#2: But we all know that AM philosophical teachings guide us that prayer should never be done.

How then to reconcile the two?

A closer examination shows, however, that the above two stances are not contradictory. Firstly, in spiritual life, the sadhaka has every right to ask Parama Purusa for bhakti, i.e. for His grace and closeness. Secondly, prayer carries a completely different meaning and vibration because in that case one is asking for some type of material boon or worldly request from Him. The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good.

Distinction: PS & AM discourses

The next key point to bear in mind is Prabhat Samgiita does not preach AM philosophy but rather presents the mentality and wants of various grades of sadhakas. Those songs reflect the inner thinking and feeling of those particular grades of sadhakas. For instance, C-grade, i.e. lower grade bhaktas, harbour all kinds of worldly and selfish desires, and those various mentalities have been captured in some PS compositions. Similarly, other compositions reflect the heart-felt feeling of top-grade bhaktas. Thus, Prabhat Samgiita stands as testimony of the mentality of various levels of sadhakas as they proceed along the path of spirituality; those songs express all the challenges, hardships, desires, yearnings, and wants of those bhaktas, whether they be first class or third class sadhaka.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

In contrast, AM discourses guide us about what ideal sadhakas should do. Ananda Marga philosophy traverses the gamut of human knowledge and beyond, in both individual and collective life. And, as followers of the path of Ananda Marga, we are to adhere to those codes and principles and implement them personally and in social life. So those AM discourses set the standard for human conduct and inform the reader about the ideals of AM teachings.

With this clear distinction in mind, kindly continue reading and consider the following.

Every bhakta should know this

As Ananda Margiis, we should know this response: Why in Ananda Sutram is prayer deemed as useless etc, yet in Prabhat Samgiita there are numerous instances of the sadhaka praying for something, such as the removal of their pain.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

First and foremost, we have to remember that Prabhat Samgiita is for all, i.e. for all levels of bhaktas including those lower sadhakas and 3rd class bhaktas. Such persons like to pray to Parama Purusa and they will even ask Him for mundane things. This is not the ideal approach, yet that is the reality. There are numerous grades of bhaktas and the collection of songs of Prabhat Samgiita has something for them also where they can engage in prayer and ask something from Him etc. Third class sadhakas can use Prabhat Samgiita in this way. But those types of songs are for beginners and lower grade sadhakas. And by this way, step by step, they grow and become great sadhakas, and no longer engage in prayer.

In contrast, AM philosophical teachings outline the ideal way - the path of the highest grade of bhaktas. Because in His philosophical teachings He is teaching us what we should do.

Why prayer is dogma and wrong

“Prárthanárcaná mátraeva bhramamúlam.” (2)

In His above teachings, Sadguru guides us that any type of prayer to Parama Purusa is “useless”. That is why in our Ananda Marga we do not pray to Parama Purusa. Because when He is all-knowing and all-benevolent, then surely He is more about our needs than we are. Anyone who has studied even the basics of Ananda Marga philosophy understands this fact: A true sadhaka will never pray to the Lord.

The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

In the large majority of Prabhat Samgiita, the sadhaka is asking for Parama Purusa, i.e. His grace and closeness etc. And that is proper according to AM teachings. Thus, the compositions of Prabhat Samgiita are in complete concert with the teachings given in the paragraph appended far below from Ananda Marga Elementary Philosophy book. The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good.

In Him,

~ In-depth study ~

Prayer is a loaded word

Here is another angle to the issue. Prayer is a loaded term just like the term harijan. Those born in India know that the literal meaning of 'harijan' is a bhakta. But if you tell anyone that, "You are a great harijan", then they will feel insulted as the colloquial meaning for harijan is an untouchable, i.e. a member of the lowest caste. Whereas if you tell someone that, "You are a great bhakta", then they will be very pleased. Yet the literal meaning of the terms harijan and bhakta are the same. The problem is that the term harijan carries with it a social stigma or being lowly.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Similarly, in the English language, the term prayer comes with a big baggage of dogma. If you mention the word prayer to anyone raised in an area where the Semitic religions are dominant, then they will already have a preconceived notion about it. They will think according to their own local religious dogma. That usually means asking God for something mundane or some boon etc. And it also means bowing down to those religious priests etc.

So that is a major reason why not to use the term prayer. Because it is a loaded term that carries with it a big bundle or dogma, just as the term harijan is taboo, or a social stigma for most people in India. Indeed, the term prayer means something different to everyone and is often associated with the dogmatic religions where worshipers ask for their selfish desires to be fulfilled. Finally, asking Parama Purusa for parabhatki is not a form of prayer - it is bhakti.

The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good.

AM philosophy: do not pray

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Prayer is the act of asking for a favour with earnestness. It also means a solemn petition addressed to the Supreme Being for certain benefits. One prays to God for something which one does not possess or thinks one does not possess. One asks God for these favours with the faith that He alone can bestow everything and by His mere wish all wants can be satisfied. By prayer or by begging one wants to awaken His wish so that one may be granted the things one lacks. Does not one’s attempt to rouse the wish of God to fulfil these needs, upon careful and rational thinking, appear to be a reminder to God to give one something of which God has kept one deprived? It would otherwise not be necessary to remind Him in prayer of that thing or to try to arouse His wish to give. For instance, if one is in need of money, one would, with the faith that God alone can give, pray to Him for the favour of giving one money. Does not this request show God’s fault in keeping one in want of money, when He alone can give it? God alone is blamed for it, and by praying to Him for money one is precisely pointing out to Him His partiality in not giving one the money one needed. Therefore, prayer or asking for favours from God is only pointing out to the Sole Giver His mistakes in the distribution of His favours. It only presumes lack of impartiality in Him, and that is why He is blamed for making some very rich and others very poor. Praying to God for favours is only to bring to His notice the charge of partiality levelled against Him. When prayer leads to such a conclusion, it is only ignorance to ask for favours.” (1)

The basic formula of AM philosophy is this: Asking for something from Parama Purusa is bad. Asking for Parama Purusa Himself is good.

Special power of animals

Ananda Marga ideology says, "A crow has a natural premonitive instinct regarding storms. An owl and to some extent a dog can sense beforehand the possible occurrence of an earthquake or some other unforeseen natural calamity of great magnitude. Such power of apprehending phenomenal vibrations exists not in ten or twenty but in innumerable species of birds.  Such a power is indeed of paramount necessity in their rigorous struggle for survival.  Such a power did exist, too, to some extent, among the prehistoric people.  But today, in this age of so-called civilization, human beings, having become extremely ease-loving, have lost that power through misuse and lack of necessity; just as their tails, their ability to move their ears and their capacity to hold things with their feet have disappeared.  Now the hairiness of their bodies and the strength of their teeth and nails are also becoming extinct. The greater the pre-occupation of creatures with the struggle for existence, the necessarily greater must be their power of premonition or prescience of impending danger, or else their existence will be effaced from the surface of the earth -- this is the law of nature." (1)

Note: People often think that animals are lowly and neglected beings but that is not true. As Baba points out above, animals are far more aware about naturally occurring phenomena than human beings. On this point animals are highly instinctual and are always surveying the scene. They can forecast and predict a wide array of storms and natural calamities - and save themselves from impending disasters.

In the above quote Baba indicates how humans also used to have such abilities, but now with the onset of modernity and a comfort-oriented lifestyle, humans have lost this skill. So now people are entirely dependent upon science to forecast the weather etc. But as developed as science is, scientists (meteorologists and seismologists) are still in the dark about earthquakes. They are unable to predict when and where an earthquake might occur; whereas various animals like dogs and owls have this unique innate gift.

That's why when earthquakes occur in various regions, it is reported how street dogs and other animals were behaving abnormally beforehand. They were restless, walking around whimpering, and running out of the buildings or caves. The dogs knew about the impending disaster that was about to strike. Often zoos also report how so many of the animals cry out several minutes before the first tremors of an earthquake are felt. So they run out of their shelters, buildings, or caves.

In contrast, modern scientists generally do not have any idea that an earthquake is about to occur. But dogs know. And those people who understood why the dogs and other animals were upset were able to help themselves and others also. At the same time, those dogs living with human dogs are losing that ability.

So in future, we should rely upon animals to guide us about when and where natural disasters will strike. While dogs can often detect impending earthquakes, crows can sense cyclones. Similarly there are numerous animals that are acutely aware about impending storms and natural disasters. And by that way they are able to save themselves.

Planet can support us all

Prout philosophy states, "Does a population problem actually exist? This issue should be considered in the perspective of two vital factors - the availability of food and the availability of space. Today human beings have enough resources to manage their food. Planet Earth is rich enough to feed a far greater number of people than the present population....[So] The tragedy is that there are enough resources to supply proper food to all human beings in the world, but the defect lies in the present approach of the existing socioeconomic systems." (1)

Population Growth

Prout philosophy states, "Is the population problem really a natural problem? The population problem should be considered in the context of two vital factors – the availability of food and the availability of space. Today human beings have sufficient means to manage their food. The earth is abundant enough in food resources to feed many times more than the present population. Due to lack of coordinated cooperation, collective effort, a proper ideology and sound planning, society has been fragmented into many belligerent groups and sub-groups, and rich and poor nations have been created. As a result of this fissiparous tendency, society is presently incapable of producing enough food to meet human requirements. The tragedy is that even though there are enough resources to supply nutritious food to all the human beings on the planet, due to the defective socio-economic systems, an efficient method of distribution has not been developed."

"Moreover, there is no shortage of living space on the planet if the existing space is properly utilized. Because the earth has been balkanized due to so many arbitrary social, economic and political restrictions and the pervasive influence of evil dogma, people are unable to tackle problems in a natural way. If there were maximum utilization and rational distribution of all natural resources, pressing socio-economic problems could be easily solved."

Prout philosophy states, "It is a law of nature that a mother is provided with sufficient breast milk to feed her newly born baby. In the same way nature has generously provided sufficient resources to meet the food and other essential requirements of all human beings. People need to utilize these natural resources in a proper way. Shortages of food or space cannot be blamed on nature. These problems are essentially the results of the mistakes made by human beings."

"It is a fact that the population of the world is rapidly increasing, and consequently many people have become frightened. In capitalist countries there are sufficient reasons for such fear. In these countries an increase in the population means a corresponding increase in the poverty of the people. But there is no reason for such fear in a collective economic system. In the event of shortages in food and accommodation people will collectively convert barren land into arable land, increase agricultural production by scientific methods and produce food by chemical processes using the potentiality of earth, water and air. And if this earth loses its productivity, then human beings will migrate to other planets and satellites and settle there."

Prout philosophy states, "If people living in capitalist countries voluntarily adopt birth control methods to avoid economic hardship, perhaps we should not criticize them. But it should be mentioned here that using birth control methods which deform the bodies of men and women or destroy their reproductive powers forever cannot be supported, because this may cause a violent mental reaction at any moment." Before the Himalayas

Ananda Marga philosophy says, “In the distant past, some areas of India did not exist: There was neither northern India, nor D’aba’k nor Samatat’ areas of Bengal, but there was Old Gondwana. That was about 300 million years ago. At that time, the major parts of Sind, the Punjab, U.P., Bihar and Bengal did not exist. They were all submerged under the vast oceans. The Himalayas also did not exist. But the Vindhya mountain range and its sister ranges, Sa’tpura’, Sahya’dri, Rajmahal and Ra’mga’r’h did exist. These mountains were very high, and always snow-covered.” (1)

Early days before Wts + 4 more

Baba
Early days before Wts

Namaskar,

Sadguru Baba started this great organization (AMPS) in 1955. Initially, there was not a Wt system. In the very beginning, in those early days, there were only regular margiis – not even family acaryas or tattvikas. That time, only Baba was giving initiations. He was personally doing everything. Not only initiations, but Baba was teaching asanas to the margiis and even demonstrating all the poses Himself. That was part of the beauty of those early days. But, unfortunately, those present could not understand that Baba is Parama Purusa. They mostly perceived Him just as an extraordinary guru.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Also, when going to DMC then the family margii serving as Baba’s PA would live together along with Baba in the same room. Each with their own cot side by side. In that early stage of AMPS, the margiis were few in number, and the organisation had little means. So when Baba was visiting anywhere it was generally not possible to arrange a separate room. In addition, in that era there were not a lot of activities and programs going on so they could manage with having less space. Finally, Parama Purusa Baba wished to present Himself as a common man and bring people close.

Over time, the system changed and PA margii would take a room next to Baba’s. So PA would not stay in the very same room as Baba – but that was years later. In addition, in those early days Baba was still working in His government job and helping fund the organisation. During this time, He initiated many margiis, whenever He had time – after His government office hours in His personal quarters or whenever.

The creation of tattvikas

Gradually, many good margiis came into the fold, by His grace. With the gain in momentum, a training session was arranged wherein Baba started giving tattvika classes. Around that time, Baba was delivering His teachings on AM philosophy which came into print as the books “Ananda Marga Elementary Philosophy” (1955), “Idea and Ideology” (1959), and “Ananda Sutram” (1962). Naturally, it was needed to have qualified disciples to explain and spread these teachings.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

For this reason, Baba was leading tattvika classes. During the time of tattvika training, there was a very strict routine with a focus on personal discipline. Many margiis from far and wide participated. Most of them passed and became tattvikas, by Baba’s grace. In the next session, Baba blessed them and made them family acaryas.

With the rise of family acaryas, Baba stopped performing the initiations Himself, though certainly Baba remained ever-active in countless works. Indeed, He was involved more deeply because a huge number of initiations were done by the new tattvikas, and Baba was giving PC (personal contact) to new margiis as well as expanding the organisation on many fronts.

The basic progression was:

1. First Baba was initiating new people Himself.

2. Then the system was made whereby margiis had to get permission from Baba before bringing a new person to Him for initiation.

3. Thereafter, Baba created tattvikas and then family acaryas to initiate new people. By this time Baba had stopped performing initiations.

From village to village, town to town

As the community of Ananda Margiis grew, so many activities and events were happening. DMCs were going on all over, and many villages were blessed by Baba to host DMC – especially in Bihar and in northern Bihar. Baba was doing maximum pracar there – where He literally traveled from village to village, town to town. Baba reached many places where even travelling by bullock carts was not possible. He went by elephant – how wild it was! Human beings could not even walk to those areas due to the deep mud. What a divine liila those days! There are countless stories recounted by margiis. How sweet and blissful it was.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Limitations of family life

There were a few who thought that there was no long-term need for a sannyasis order (i.e. our WT cadre) in Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. They gathered that the creation of Wts was just a temporary phase and that family persons will again gain full control of AMPS.

That said, family people have certain limitations and time constraints: raising kids and managing their families, professional obligations, local relations etc. So family people do not have the flexibility that wholetimers have and hence cannot do the things which WTs can do. Anywhere, anytime those Wts can be sent from one corner of the globe to the other. And they will stay there permanently till the next order comes. They have to attend to calamities and manage the relief work and provide services etc. How can family persons take up that task when they have children, jobs, and the responsibility of running AM in their local area etc.

So if anyone is still thinking that the creation of the WT cadres is just a temporary measure because the Wt cadre was not introduced in the very beginning (i.e. 1955), but rather in 1962, then they should consider 16 Points, paincajanya, kiirtan, fasting, Prabhat Samgiita, neo-humanism, master units, gurukul, tandava / kaoshiiki, and sentient food etc. These practices were also added later on, i.e. after 1955, as the organisation became more mature. It is akin to how when a baby is born it just has smooth skin, and then as the years go by that baby grows into adulthood and grows a mustache and beard.Accordingly, Sadguru Baba introduced more and more elements as the organisation matured. Obviously, these “additions” by Baba were not just temporary measures, but part of the working protocol of AMPS. And it goes without saying that those WTs have a strict duty to adhere to all conduct rules etc and lead a life of selfless sacrifice.

Conclusion

Those with a deeper understanding know that Baba planned everything ahead of time. And when it was the opportune moment then in a methodical manner He introduced new points. It is just like how parents do not send their infants off to university for higher studies. They wait until the time is right: When the children are older.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Similarly, when there was a certain need etc, Baba would introduce something new. Or, at least, on the surface it looked like that when actually He was just implementing those things which were already in His mind. So it was just a matter of how He was playing His liila.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Sarvya’piii

Organ donation & leaving the body

Ananda Marga ideology states, “When a person dies, the mind becomes dissociated from the body. Death is of many kinds. When the nerve cells stop working, the nerve fibres stop working, the heart stop working and the lungs stop working, death may be considered complete. But sometimes, though the nerve fibres stop working, the heart stops working, and the lungs stop working, the nerve cells continue to work. In such a case doctors might pronounce the person dead, but after two or three hours or even two or three days, the person may come back to life. Everyone’s nerve cells continue to function for at least some time after so-called death. In some such instances, as you have seen, I have saved persons from death.”
“So even after death the nerve cells of a person function. If the nerve cells stop functioning, it means the person has started the search for a new body. The person may or may not get the new body right away. The dissociated mind, along with its reactive momenta, leaves the old body in search of a new one. In accordance with its samskaras, its reactive momenta, the mind searches for and finds an appropriate medium for expression.”

Here is the essence of Baba’s teaching.

When a human being looks to be dead, the nerve cells can still function for a few hours, or, in some cases, even days. In that condition the body could come back to life. During some demonstrations, Baba brought people back to life. Ultimately though, when the nerve cells stop functioning entirely, the person undergoes physical death, and the mind leaves the body immediately in search of a new body. The bodyless mind, along with its samskaras, leaves the old body and starts wandering in search of a new body. According to the nature of their samskaras, they get a new body with the help of the cosmic operative principle. It may happen almost instantaneously, while for others it could take years.

Comment #1: According to this discourse, when the nerve cells die then immediately the (bodyless) mind leaves the body with its samskaras in search of a new body. So it could happen that the old body is still not decayed and it is in the tomb, and the person got a new suitable body and reached in the mother’s womb immediately with the help of rajaguna of cosmic operative principle.

Comment #2: If you donated the body at the time of death and you immediately got a new body, then it could happen that your old limbs are used by someone while, at the same time, you are moving around as a child with a new body.

History of DC chant

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “Dharmacakra is a congregation of spiritual aspirants for collective performance of Iishvara Prańidhána and spiritual discussions. All will sit in rows adjacent to each other. Women and men will sit in separate rows. Anyone joining dharmacakra (after Iishvara Prańidhána has started) will silently occupy a suitable seat in proper order…The following mantra will be recited three times at the beginning of Iishvara Prańidhána: Saḿgacchadhvaḿ...” (1)

Here are some basic facts about the history of dharmacakra and the use of the saḿgacchadhvaḿ mantra in Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha.

(a) The very first dharmacakra was held at the opening DMC on 1/1/55.

(b) Our saḿgacchadhvaḿ chant was first recited at that inaugural DMC (1/1/55) directly before Baba gave His blessing. And verily every DMC discourse concludes with Baba reciting samgacchadhvam and giving His blessing. This continued up to 1990.

(c) Sadguru Baba’s earliest writings about the saḿgacchadhvaḿ mantra were in Caryarcarya part 1. When Baba first dictated Caryacarya -1 in Bangla then it was included in the chapter about dharmacakra. We do not have a copy of that Bangla edition, but here below is a copy of the first English edition. Scroll to page 38 in the below scan:
(d) Of course, years later on 12 October 1978 in Patna, Baba delivered an entire discourse titled "Saḿgacchadhvaḿ" which is included in His Ananda Vacanamrtam series of discourses.

About blissful, intense kiirtana

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It is said about the way in which the Paramátmá [Supreme Soul] can be seen in the átmá: In the same way that something can be seen in a mirror, a person can see the Paramátmá by analysing the átmá...Just as a reflection is seen in water, Parama Puruśa can be found in the gandharvaloka, that is, in the study of musical science." (1)

Note: Everyone knows that in our Ananda Marga philosophy it is explained that atma is a reflection of Paramatma. It is just like seeing the reflection of the sun in a mud puddle. It is not actually the sun but a reflection. That is similar to how our atma is a reflection of Paramatma.

When bhaktas do kiirtana and bhajan in a very intense way then a deep vibration is felt in the mind and a blissful feeling comes. That blissful feeling of intense kiirtan is coming from the gandhavarloka - i.e. higher state of mind. In other words, from a lower state your mind gradually reaches a higher state where you feel that special bliss which is gandhavarloka. Those who are good sadhakas have realised this in their life many times.

Must read this if poor sadhana

Here is the English summary of Baba’s below Hindi teaching.
After involving in mundane works one is generally plunged in worldly thoughts. So then if one sits in sadhana, in the mind you will think that 'Tomorrow I will go to Arariya town. Indeed I have to go in the morning. I will have to catch the first bus'. You will sit in sadhana and go on thinking like this. In this situation what should you do? Before sitting for sadhana you should do kiirtan-- either 2 min, or 5 min, or 10 min. So first one should do kiirtan. Because by doing kiirtan the mind will get elevated. After that immediately one should sit in sadhana. Then you will see that there will not be any worldly thoughts. Then sadhana will be proper...Do not worry you have learned sadhana and I am always ready to help and serve you.

Note: Every sincere Ananda Margii wants to do sadhana. Yet most of the time this aforesaid problem occurs. And our Guru understands this. That is why He has graciously given such a beautiful solution, as mentioned above. I think many may be following His divine guideline; and for those who are not, they should do so from now onwards, i.e. sing kiirtan before doing sadhana.

Profit motive in medical industry + 6 more

Baba
Profit motive in medical industry

Namaskar,

In capitalism, the profit motive is reigning supreme in all realms of life, including in the field of medicine where greed and business-minded ventures have become more prevalent. That is why the once noble field of 'treating the sick' has turned into a profit-seeking, medical profession - where the allurement of the dollar is paramount.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Sadly, this has spelled disaster for patients throughout the globe. Due to financial pressures and greed, a growing number of doctors no longer focus on the needs of the patient, but rather on how their own medical business can be more profitable. This is in stark opposition to our Proutistic model which is geared towards serving others. The motive in Prout’s medical system is “for the welfare of the patient”, not “in order to make a profit.” Prout is based on service psychology. And we will discuss the ramifications of this in the field of medicine. First let us see how this profit motive manifests itself in today's medical field.

Unfortunately, there is a minority of good doctors and we appreciate their dedication and service. This following letter deals with bad doctors.

Profit-seeking doctors create chaos

Around the globe, the field of medicine has turned into a profit-making machine. And there are all kinds of tricks done in order to secure a greater margin of income.

(A) For example in various countries, where the number of doctors far surpasses the number of paying patients, doctors have a shortage of clients, i.e. the market is not big. In that case, doctors regularly perform operations and administer medicines that are not needed. Arm surgery or an open-heart operation will be performed solely for the doctor's wallet and not because that is in the patient's best interest. That is one of the horrors going on.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(B) Another ploy that is occurring is that quack doctors - those who are below average and cannot get patients - will give a commission to taxi cab drivers, rickshaw wallahs, and tour guides etc to bring patients to their office. When a person new in town gets sick or injured - whether they be a villager or an overseas tourist - then they will be led to this quack doctor. All because this doctor is paying locals to bring them patients.

(C) In some top capitalist countries, the scandals are occurring on a much larger level. Oftentimes doctors themselves are just turned into laborers in the hands of hospital officials and business executives. That is one epidemic. The other is that doctors will order a myriad of expensive tests just to create a large bill, which will either go to the patient, insurance company, or both. And behind closed doors, pharmaceutical giants are giving pressure and incentives to doctors who prescribe their drugs. These are a few of the many ills occurring in the scandalous medical profession where capitalism is well-established.

(D) Side by side, medical researchers will not investigate cures to diseases that are less commonly known because there are less patients - i.e. less customers - suffering from that type of disease. Whereas, every pharmacy is inventing newer high blood pressure medicines because there is huge money to be made. So that which is needed is not done and that which is not needed is done. All because of the profit-motive way of doctoring. We see a variety of schemes by today's medical executives in order to maximise profits. And in all cases the one who suffers and pays the most is the patient.

Example: nasty doctors

Here below the Propounder of Prout, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, points out what injustices doctors do to their patients in order to bankroll their medical business.

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says, "Of all the doctors you have come across, how many are idealistic and dutiful? If you visit a doctor, he will prescribe strong medicines for a light illness. This will inevitably be the case if he owns his own dispensary." (1)

Here the point is that in the present-day capitalist model, the doctor orders the medicine so that he can turn a profit. The well-being of the patient is not the priority. Under the banner of Prout, there will be a fundamental shift. A medical model based on service psychology puts the needs of the patient as the singular and sole priority. In that case, medicine will only be prescribed when that is best for the patient.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Prout philosophy states, "The welfare of the patient should be the main aim of the medical profession." (2)

Medical care: Prout policies

What are the types of changes we will see in the field of medicine. Here below Baba gives a glimpse of what lies ahead and what we can expect to see with regards to the practice of medicine and health care.

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar says, "Doctors should start service cooperatives. These cooperatives may also be called physicians service cooperatives. Suppose a doctor is not able to open his own practice, he may form a service cooperative with five or ten other doctors. Such a cooperative is an intellectual service cooperative. Doctors who have less capital and cannot afford to establish their own practice can also work in this type of cooperative. Such a system will solve the unemployment problem of doctors. In addition, doctors can start research through these cooperatives." (3)

When doctors form cooperatives and are not at the mercy of the almighty dollar, then the field of medicine will embark into a new era. And not only doctors cooperatives, but there will be so many deep-seated changes that will spell the end to the present-day profit-oriented medical businesses and give rise to community oriented health-care services where the welfare of the patient is first and foremost.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And verily that is the main difference between Prout and capitalism - the seed outlook of life. Regardless of all the plans and programs, the basic vision of Prout and capitalism differs in their most fundamental appeal. Prout mandates that the need of the day should be addressed in order to serve the people, whereas capitalism dictates that business should be done where there is the opportunity to make a profit. And these are wholly oppositional outlooks.

That is why as the Proutistic model manifests in social life, there will be widespread changes quite quickly. And these will become apparent in the field of medicine and health care as well. The vision of Prout is on the way. And with it, today's profit oriented healthcare system will be revamped into a service-oriented approach that addresses the true needs of the people.

Prout philosophy states, "The medical profession as such has more to do with social service than with professionalism. Social service is the main aim of the medical profession....it cannot be categorized as a business under any circumstances." (4)

Conclusion

Nowadays, the modus operandi of the field of healthcare is to turn a profit. Money is the driving force behind so-called patient care, research, and numerous other aspects of the healthcare arena. Unfortunately, the biggest loser is the patient who is viewed as a pawn for making money. The current medical model puts the patient’s needs aside in favour of making a profit. The Proutistic model is a revolutionary shift where doctors are trained and supported in evaluating each patient as a human who needs help. In that case better medical care is given and the patient’s well-being, not the profit, is the focal point.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

At present, medical services are run primarily by the profit motive. In a neo-humanistic society, the patient's medical care and service to patients will not be based on the business motive, rather the service motive. Nobody will be allowed to profit on the tragedy and suffering of a patient. Those who exploit the suffering patient and earn huge money are vultures. We should follow Prout and try to establish a society where medical care is given on a service motive and all medical requirements should be guaranteed for all. Nobody should think that they are dying due to lack of medical care. So service motive, not profit motive, is the only way to care for patients.

In Him,
Pradiip

~ In-depth study ~

Prout philosophy states, "No matter what country you belong to, tell me honestly, how many doctors can you really trust and respect? Among the doctors you know, you may believe in one or two at the most, but those who have won your faith may or may not command your respect. In other words, the doctors whom you believe in, who can cure a patient, are not accessible because they cost too much." (5)

Problem created by doctors in some countries

Prout philosophy states, "Countless complaints can be made against doctors and the medical profession. Although it would take a lot of space to list them all, let me briefly mention a few: patients have to settle for adulterated medicines unless they bribe the pharmacist; sweepers, orderlies and nurses do not take proper care of a patient’s needs unless they are tipped; a patient writhing in pain may be rebuked instead of being given medicine; if one does not call the doctor at least once for a personal consultation so that that doctor can earn some extra money, one may be unable to secure a bed on one’s next visit to the hospital; a medicine that is supposedly out of stock in the hospital can be illegally purchased in a nearby shop at an exorbitant price; without bribing the doctor a sick patient will not be admitted to the hospital; during the compulsory medical examination for a new job, all the medical staff put out their hand for a bribe; the doctor in collusion with the optician fails many people in their eye tests so that they will have to buy glasses; hospital patients are served food which is cheaper and of poorer quality than what they are entitled to; milk and fruits reserved for patients are consumed by the hospital staff; spurious drugs and injections are administered to patients. Such grievances are endless. Some are extremely serious, involving accusations of such irresponsibility that it is difficult to believe that people actually have these experiences." (6)

Problem in some countries

The below story shows what happens when there is a surplus of doctors in a given area or country. In that case, those doctors resort to certain strategies to boost their income. To resolve this problem, Baba has given a wonderful solution.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar states, "Let me recount an incident that occurred several years ago. In 1940 I went to a homoeopathic pharmacy. With me was a boy of twelve or thirteen, the younger brother of an acquaintance. I had gone there for some medicine for the boy. The doctor took pains to examine the boy properly, then prescribed some medicine. He said, “Please return with his medical report on Saturday afternoon.” I replied, “Will Saturday morning not do? On Saturday afternoon I will be going out of town; I will be going home.” Further discussion revealed that we came from the same district and our homes came under the jurisdiction of adjacent police stations on opposite sides of a river. The doctor then asked me to return the medicine and said, “I am giving you another medicine.” When I asked why he said, “Both medicines are good, but I give the first medicine to people I do not know because it takes a little longer to cure the patient, hence I sell more medicine.”"
“This incident is neither to the doctor’s credit nor to that of society. The doctor is losing his character due to poverty, caused in turn by a defective social system – isn’t this true?”
Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar states, “Sociologists will agree that it is not desirable for those who are involved in saving lives to face financial difficulties. If in any country the people believe that they have more doctors than necessary, the study of medicine should be strictly supervised so that only competent and talented students have the opportunity to become doctors. That way, by reducing the number of unwanted doctors, those who enter the medical profession will be able to earn sufficient money with the cooperation of society and the state. In the absence of want, there is no risk of their losing their character.” (7)

Small reflections of Your infinite charm

PS Intro: This below Prabhat Samgiita highlights the divine glory and greatness of Parama Purusa.

"Tumi, kotháy chile kotháy, tháko keu tá jáne ná..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0540)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purus'a, where were You - where You live, nobody knows. I have been searching all over and looking everywhere for You. You are the smallest of the small and the most vast of the vast. I have not been able to find You anywhere. Baba, those who want You, ultimately You make them Yours and merge them into Your Divine Self. Infinite Entity, You are boundless and cannot be held. Parama Purus'a, where do You reside - nobody knows.

O’ Parama Purus'a Baba, the Greatest One, in this entire universe, no single manifestation can express Your full beauty. The moon's smile, the ocean breeze, the smiling flower, the sweet charming sky, all these beautiful expressions were created by You. You have filled this world with Your diverse presentations, yet they are not Your True Self, nor Your full Personality. They cannot embody Your full sweetness. All these presentations are mere small reflections of Your infinite charm. Baba, Ananta, You are limitless. Your full glory cannot be expressed in words, shapes, or forms.

O’ Parama Purusa, You are so merciful. In my ideation and in my meditation, my every atom and molecule are dancing in Your flow. It is Your krpa’. You do everything for me. Baba, You have been playing the spiritual flute since time immemorial, and You will continue up to eternity. By this way, You have been attracting and drawing me closer to You. Your grand refulgence is boundless and unfathomable.

Parama Purus'a, where have You been, where do You reside - nobody knows. Baba, bless me, please have a karun’a’ on me...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #0540:

[1] This above Prabhat Samgiita expresses how Parama Purusa is more vast than the vast and smaller than the small. Because of this one cannot find Him with their mundane senses. And that is what is explained in this below teaching as well.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "On the one hand Parama Purus'a is very vast; on the other hand He is very small. He is so vast that you cannot fully see Him. In Sam'skrta, there are a few words to describe something very vast: visha'la, vira't'a, brhat, etc. Out of these, the words vira't'a and brhat are used to describe an entity which is immeasurably vast, and visha'la is used for an entity which may be vast, but can be measured. For instance, the Himalayan mountains are very vast in size, but still they can be measured in terms of miles, from south to north and from east to west. In the scriptures it has been said.

Brhacca taddivyam acintyaru'pam'...

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Parama Purus'a is extremely vast: then how can you see such a vast Entity with your dim vision? It is impossible. And besides seeing such a divine effulgence, your eyes will be blinded; your vision will be completely lost."

Su'ks'macca tat su'ksmataram' vibhati

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Parama Purus'a is not only vast. He is small as well – so small, so subtle that you cannot see Him with your physical eyes. Human ocular power is extremely limited: if an object is very vast it cannot be seen, and if it is very small and subtle it cannot be seen either." (1)

[2] These below quotes state that one cannot go close to Him and still remain separate. When one gets closer and closer, then by His grace, the bhakta will merge in Him - just like a piece of salt gets merged in the ocean, it can no longer remain a separate grain of salt.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "If a salt doll goes to fathom the sea, it will certainly melt and become the sea itself. Similarly, if the knower of the Supreme Consciousness goes to fathom the Supreme, he merges in the sea of Consciousness and becomes Supreme himself. Be constantly absorbed in the thought of the Supreme Consciousness and you too will become Supreme." (2)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "If a salt doll goes to measure the sea, it will melt into it. Neither can it measure the sea, nor will it ever return, its existence will merge into the vastness of the sea, releasing it from all cares and worries. If one wishes to take the form of the sea, one will have to become the sea itself; there is no other way. None of His qualities has any limit. His fragmentary manifestations are all passing through unlimited forms, due to His ceaseless imaginative flow: none of them is an end in itself." (3)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The spiritual aspirant hears the various sounds of onm'ka'ra or pran'ava [like the sound of the flute] at various stages, during deep sa'dhana', during sweet sa'dhana'. The sound is called Krs'n'a’s muraliidhvani. The sa'dhaka becomes mad because of this sound and goes deeper and attains Ra'dha' bha'va more and more, and rushes headlong forward." (4)

Horrors of running after carnal desires

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Contentment is not at all possible if the individual is running after carnal pleasures like a beast. As a result of extroversial analysis, the objects of enjoyments go on increasing both in number and abstraction and that is why ones mental flow never gets any rest. Under such circumstances how can one attain perfect peace of mind?" (1)

Note: Here Baba is warning us how those involved in the sensual pursuits of materialism will never find satisfaction in life. Nowadays in materialistic communities, people are plunged in pornography, gay / lesbian living, and other sex-oriented pursuits. The gay community is particularly notorious - and in some places they even indulge in group sex at night in the public parks. Seeing this, impressionable youths get misdirected. Through films, advertisements, and everyday circumstances, youths are indoctrinated into the false notion that they can find fulfillment and happiness through sensual pleasures. In the end, so many get degraded, contract diseases, and live of life of frustration and suffering, and undergo a premature death. This is the tragedy nowadays. People are not taught how to truly satisfy their human longing - how to achieve a real state of contentment and bliss. They never learn how to goad the mind towards Parama Purusa and instead drown in the mire and wasteland of animalistic sensuality.

How to recognise demons

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “I have already said that the task of intellect is to properly utilize all the properties of the universe, of the expressed world. But there are some selfish people in the world who are not in favour of the maximum utilization of mundane wealth, because they fear the control of the developed intellect over the material forces; and selfish people do not like that. They do not want anyone except themselves or a handful of their own group to attain any progress. Rather they would be happy to see that the individual and collective progress of others gets jeopardized.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Self-seeking people do not want the collective intellect of the human race to be utilized for the welfare of the entire human race; rather they, in the name of humanity, want to perpetuate divisive tendencies in society, because if they succeed in creating a rift in human society, that will pave the way for their personal benefit or self-aggrandizement. Thus they concoct various so-called scriptures and formulate all kinds of logic. They maintain to humanity that the different races in this world are not equal. Thus instead of considering the interests of the entire human society, they give preference to the interests of a particular community. This loud-mouthed propaganda in favour of a particular community, this parading of irrational logic, this sort of fallacious argument, all combine to stifle the spontaneous growth of human intellect. This sort of mentality is called dogma." (1)

Key quality of a righteous person

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “A person who wants to promote others’ welfare, a person who wants to serve the entire humanity, must keep away from dogma. In addition to that, he or she will have to staunchly resist dogma. It is not enough to keep away from something which is considered a veritable sin, it is not enough to lodge only verbal protest against sin – one will have to against it. This is the greatest criterion of a truly righteous person." (1)

Ac. Mantracetananda: Calls for silent action against Rudrananda & his sycophants

Courtesy of WhatApp - STO Forum:  It is obvious that this below news is not original content by Ananda Marga Universal Forum.
