How to unite + 4 more

Baba

How to unite

Namaskar,

We must bear in mind that trying to build unity by inviting representation from various groups is an archaic approach doomed for failure and destruction. Keeping the communal award alive by holding onto groupism is not the way. Inviting Wts from the various camps to sit together under one roof will never work.

So long as our Wts cling to their petty group identity – and group allegiance is recognized and honoured by family margiis – then unity will remain a distant dream.

The moment we wholly embrace an anti-exploitation movement in AMPS and ideological values are wholeheartedly embraced, then true unity is easily within our grasp.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ingredients for anti-exploitation movement

Baba’s pointed directive is to launch an anti-exploitation movement. At present the various WT group leaders are exploiting margiis and Wts on numerous fronts and so many dogmas have been imposed. Here is an overview of the various dogmas and injustices imposed by the various groups:

(a) Curtailment of Bhukti Pradhan rights.
(b) Wt’s given punishment posting or opposing wrongdoing
(c) Economic exploitation of Wts by Centre
(d) Morally & sexually weak Wts given higher posts
(e) Manipulated the voter lists for BP elections.
(f) Continually forced margiis and wts to be subservient to central Wts.

(g) Ruined the ACB (Advisory Committee & Boards).
(h) Invented the Fake BP Manual.
(i) Took advantage of margiis & wts financially by Centre.
(j) Victimised countless innocent margiis and wts who expressed concern about unjust organisational dealings of central Wts.
(k) And there are many more points as well.

* For a complete list of injustices, please refer to the link directly below the signature.

No Wt group taking dharmic stand

The key aspect is that all the various Wt groups are involved in exploiting margiis and Wts on these fronts. They all have been pushing margiis and Wts to the brink for their own gain. And none of the Wt groups have come forward and made a dharmic stand on these matters of exploitation. Not a single group has called for the eradication of the Fake BP manual or other injustices. Only they quarrel amongst themselves over gaining greater control over the margiis by using this Fake BP manual etc.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

The only way out of this tailspin is to launch an anti-exploitation movement. Then all rational margiis and rational Wts will walk arm-in-arm grounded in ideological issues – not group membership or other petty issues.

Just as Baba pointed out that an anti-exploitation movement for economic independence was needed during India’s quest for freedom, similarly an anti-exploitation movement must be the rallying cry amongst margiis and Wts today. That will positively save the organisation from splitting, as happened with India during India’s push for independence.

Cause of disunity: exploitation of one group by another

Ananda Marga philosophy, "Human unity is purely an ideological unity, which means unity in the psychic sphere. Where there is psychic unity, physical unity will also occur. In the realm of unity, unity is always psychic – ideological unity means unity in the subtlest level of the mind. However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another. So to avoid this there should not be any scope for exploitation in society. And to ensure this we have to start a new order to safeguard the interests of the exploited masses. So for a proper social synthesis what we require is a common philosophy of life; that is, ideological unity." (1)

In Him,
Viplava

For a complete list of injustices:

For further info on unity:

To end exploitation: raise public consciousness

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “You must raise the people’s consciousness, otherwise they will never be able to successfully resist psycho-economic or politico-economic exploitation. In India, the masses were inspired to fight for independence without arousing their consciousness. As a consequence, India ultimately attained political independence, no doubt, but the people have not attained politico-economic independence as yet. Even today, they are victims of psycho-economic and politico-economic exploitation.” (2)

We must bear in mind that trying to build unity by inviting representation from various groups is an archaic approach doomed for failure and destruction. Keeping the communal award alive by holding onto groupism is not the way. Inviting Wts from the various camps to sit together under one roof will never work.

This type of approach is no different from bringing 5 frogs together and putting a lid on the jar thinking that they will be united. Rather at the earliest instant those frogs will all jump in their own direction.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Same is the case with the various groups. Over the years, countless peace meetings and unity forums have been called with representatives from the various groups. But that was just a show of unity only. Immediately, by their actions, it was clear they all pursued their own agenda.

Offering of sweets

"Tiirthe tomáre khunjiá páiini, gáne dharivár prayás kori..." (Prabhat Samgiita #4874)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, I searched for You in different so-called holy places like - Tiljala, Jamalpur, Varanasi, Puri, Mecca, Rome, Jerusalem; and, I also went to  so-called holy land Ananda Nagar, and the top of the Himalayan mountain ranges etc, but I utterly failed to find You. My whole approach was meaningless, a waste of time, and based on dogma and ignorance. I was just indulged in lies and hypocrisy. That is why I was met with failure and could not succeed in getting You. By Your grace, now I am returning back on the path of satya, eternal truth. I am trying to reach You through spiritual songs, dance, and kiirtana.

Baba, I heard that You remain in Your heavenly abode, satya loka, while I lie in the deepest, darkest depths at the bottom of the underworld, drowned in all kinds of vices, dogmas, and groupism. I declared You as dead. I thought that with the virtue of attending so-called MPD annual death ceremony annually in October I will get Your blessings. Hari, I will get you. I thought I could have Your close proximity by my ritualistic pújá, dogmatic arcaná, offering of sweets, and dakśińá money to the priest wts, giving black money to ‘big dadas’. I believed by this way I would get punya. But instead it was all for naught.

O’ my Supreme Entity, Baba, I thought You resided very far away. That’s why I was not getting You. I was thinking that You are not within my reach. Now I am trying hard to dye my mind in Your colour. Baba, Your cosmic attractive force is not pulling me. I don’t feel You drawing me near. To get You I have started doing my part - japa, dhyana, sadhana pranayama etc. Now I feel Your grace...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #4874:

[1] Ritualistic puja: Any type of worship that involves praying and making offerings to an idol, going to so-called tiirthas, singing hymns to the idol etc

[2] Arcana: Any worship done with external paraphernalia or worldly offerings such as flowers, sandalwood., colours etc. Some dogmatic Hindu worshipers collect physical articles, lamps, and flowers and do certain rituals to honour and call the Lord. That is arcana. In our Ananda Marga way of life, there is no place for that kind of physical, external, and ritualistic approach. It simply does not belong.
And Baba tells us, "The type of worship which is performed with selfish motive and external paraphernalia is called arca or arcana." (1)

[3] Daksina: Offering in cash and kind (sweets, money) made to the dogmatic priest.

Misunderstanding of Dada Shambhushivananda

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Everyone has a singular dharma named spirituality, and only this is worth calling dharma. Religions are not dharma; they are mere collections of rituals.” (1)

Note: Ananda Marga is bhagavad dharma and not based on any of the various dogmatic religions. Unfortunately, some of our Wt Dadas write books steeped in dogmatic religious preachings that are obviously not in concert with the eternal teachings of Ananda Marga ideology.

The mistakes are rampant in most of the dadas’ books so one need not search long to find an error. Here is an example of a serious ideological blunder.

Shambhushivananda writes: "The dynamism of Tantra, orthodoxy of Judaism, austerity of Jains, service spirit of Catholics, ethical stance of Buddhists, anti- exploitation emphasis of Marx, reverence for life of environmentalists, progressive use of science and technology of materialists, applied psychology of naturalists, social outlook of Islam, mysticism of Bauls and Sufis, devotion of Vaishnavites, pragmatism of the entrepreneurs and merchants and the thirst for sublime knowledge of the alchemists—all find their place in the holistic approach of the NHE Model of the Modern Gurukula. As Dr. Sohail Inayatullah, a notable futurist comments, "Even the futurists have a place in PR. Sarkar's thoughts on education". (Ac Shambhushivananda, Thoughts for a New Era, p. 258)
Ananda Marga ideology is not a combination of the "good points" of various religious traditions. This is a completely dogmatic idea, one which several other dadas like Dharmavedananda have supported and given many lectures on over the years. But it is a ridiculous approach. For example, the social outlook of Islam, praised above, is a disaster. They view non-Muslims as sinners who will go to hell. No one outside of Islam is their brother. So Islam does not have a social outlook which is to be extolled. Yet years ago some dada got this ludicrous idea of preaching that Ananda Marga philosophy is a combination of all the best aspects of the religions rolled into one. This notion spread among the dadas like wildfire-- they loved it. And they still use it even today. Whereas true disciples know that Ananda Marga ideology is totally new, not based on the ideas of the past, nor linked with various dogmatic religions. That is why Baba has given the discourse "Ananda Marga: A Revolution".

By pointing out the errors in the dadas’ books, our Ananda Marga society will benefit tremendously.

Let us bear in mind that the social outlook of the three Semitic religions - Islam, Christianity, and Judaism - are very similar: They all hold that if you do not follow their religions then you are cursed. For instance:
(a)  Muslims think that non-Muslims are cursed;
(b) Jews think that non-Jews are cursed;
(c) and, Christians think that non-Christians are cursed.

Our Ananda Marga ideology stands unparalleled and wholly distinct from the various dogmatic religions.

In Him,
Shyam

Extra points

Pointing out mistakes in dadas' books has a few fundamental benefits:
#1: First off, those Wts who are true to their code of conduct and strictly follow our AM way of life must be respected.
#2: To expose the blatant defects in publications by confused Wts and publicly shame such Wts so they refrain from writing books that contravene Guru’s teachings.
#3: To help the public not to think of Wts as second Maheshvaras (i.e. second gods). Baba is our Guru, and no one else. Our dadas are sadhakas just as family Margiis are. They are not to be given a higher status by default as though they were some holy being. That leads to the same religious dogmas that exist in the Catholic Church, Hinduism, and all the religions. Nowadays in Catholicism, the degrading conduct has been getting exposed so those followers are learning that their priests are not holy and beyond reproach. It is a process of learning to discard the priest dogma. Exposing the mistakes in dadas' books has a similar benefit.

Again, those wts who are true to their Wt conduct rules and strictly adhere to the teachings of AM must be respected.

Baba’s appreciation + 3 more

Baba

Baba’s appreciation

Namaskar,

When you go to the market then it is quite common to interact with numerous people. One person might give you exact directions to a particular store, a tailor might fix your pants in a very proper way, and verily there are many whose particular talents you appreciate. On that basis, you might recommend that clerk or tailor to someone else.

Naturally though, your appreciation and recommendation does not mean that you fully support each and every aspect of that individual's life. You might appreciate a specific talent, such as that tailor's ability to sew, but it does not mean you condone everything that tailor does, such as the wine he drinks in the evening.

Here the matter is that in our own everyday life, we appreciate and admire particular talents a person has, but that does not mean we unconditionally embrace every aspect of that person's existence.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

How Baba appreciates various philosophers

Throughout His teachings, Baba mentions the names of various philosophers and thinkers in a positive manner. As Ananda Margiis and as His disciples, we should understand His overall message in these instances.

On a particular point Baba supports the thinker's perspective, but it does not mean that Baba fully espouses all the teachings and actions of that person. Just as we do not appreciate the entire lifestyle and wine drinking of that tailor. Baba's appreciation of a given thinker is limited to that particular tenet, as that point is in concert with Ananda Marga ideology.

As we all know, Baba has come onto this earth to deliver His grand teachings of Ananda Marga ideology to humanity. His social and spiritual directions are wholly unique and unparalleled in every way. To put forth this entirely new set of guidelines, Baba sometimes refers to various thinkers, philosophers, and leaders to help illustrate His own ideals. His chief aim in this endeavor is to clarify and expound the stand of Ananda Marga.

For instance, if a given teaching from a particular sage or rishi or social thinker parallels Baba's philosophy, then Baba often highlights that in His discourse. This gives bhaktas a reference point to better understand what Baba wishes to convey.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

In a line we can say Baba appreciates those thinkers when their particular teaching on a given point is rational; and, Baba critiques those thinkers when their particular teachings are irrational. That is the sole reason behind Baba's praise and condemnation of any philosopher or social leader. By this we can understand that Baba is not unconditionally accepting their entire doctrine nor embracing every aspect of that person's existence.

Namaskar,
at His lotus feet,
Supakash

~ In-depth study ~

“Bhakti is the best”

For example: Bhagavan Shankaracaryaji's proclamation that, "Bhakti is the best." That particular teaching from Shankaracayaji is wholly consistent with Ananda Marga ideology. Hence, Baba highlights this point in His discourse as it supports the idea He is propagating.

But that does not mean that Baba fully espouses every teaching and guideline from Shankaracaryaji. Indeed, in so many places Baba refutes Shankaracaryaji's philosophy. Thus Baba's appreciation of Shankaracaryaji's philosophy applies only to whatever specific point He (Baba) is addressing. Baba is not lending blanket support to all of Shankaracaryajis' teachings. In this process, Baba's sole aim is to clearly map out Ananda Marga ideology, and to do that He will use examples from well-known teachings in order to make His point lucid for His disciples and readers.

Thus Baba's aim is not to support or condone any other philosophy per se. Rather, Baba appreciates those aspects of any philosophy that parallel His ideals, and He outrightly condemns those teachings which run contrary to Ananda Marga ideology.

That is why Baba might appreciate some aspects of Bhagavan Buddha's teachings while pointing out the flaws of other aspects of Buddha's teachings. Because the aim is not to highlight Buddha's guidelines per se, but rather to lay out Ananda Marga teachings.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Baba condemns mayavada

Unfortunately, some mistakenly think that Baba's mere mention of a particular person means that that individual is great - and we should therefore follow all their teachings. But this is not the case. It is not that Baba is wholeheartedly supporting everything that individual has done or taught in their life.

A perfect example of this is how Baba condemns Shankaracaryaji's philosophy of mayavada (illusion theory), as it runs wholly against the teachings of Ananda Marga ideology.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Máyáváda is full of contradictions from beginning to end. This sort of error is called pramáda in Sanskrit: error in the beginning, error in the middle and error in the end. The entire advaetaváda is pramádagrasta [full of errors]." (1)

Yet side by side, Baba fully supports Shankaracaryaji's teaching that the path of bhakti is the best.

Ananda Marga ideology states says, "Bhagaván Shankarácárya said, Mokśa kárańa samagráḿ bhatireva gariiyasii. “Of all the ways to attain salvation, devotion is the best”." (2)

The key point to remember here is that Ananda Marga ideology is what is being delivered. Thus we should fully understand how and why Baba chooses to refer to various thinkers while putting forth His new and unique teachings.

You are love & affection

"Sakal manete sthán kariyácho, sakal gharete tomár t́háin..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0325)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, Baba, You have made Yourself present in everyone’s mind and inner core. Every abode is Your home. You are the warmth, love, and affection of each heart. Nothing in this universe can exist independently of You. You are the supreme foundation upon which all else stands. You are in everything, and all lies within You - nothing can exist without You.

Parama Purusa, we living beings are just the incandescence of little lamps whose heat comes from You. The glow of its light is Your supreme aura. And I put its dark soot on my forehead as a victory mark. You exist, so all exist; because You are, I am. You are the Eternal source. Baba, I find You in the midst of all. It is Your grace.

Parama Purusa, whatever good qualities - love, compassion, kindness, affection, mamatá, learning intellect, and all attributions - You have given me, eternally reside in You. All of creation comes, exists, grows, and flourishes under Your shelter, by Your sweet  grace. Baba, come gently into the depths of my inner core. I want to keep You in my heart forever...

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #0325:

Mamata': Mineness; In Sanskrit “mama” = mine, and the suffix ta’ = -ness; hence “mineness.” To have equal or more love for something / someone than one has for oneself.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "What is the meaning of “mamatá”? Mama + tá = mamatá. Mama means “mine” and thus mamatá is the inner idea of being mine, the feeling that something is my own." (1)

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "“Mamatá” means “mine-ness” – “Mama” means “one's own”, and the abstract noun derived from it is “mamatá” – meaning, thereby “mine-ness.”" (2)

For example, suppose you are suffering from a fever then naturally you will be concerned about your own health. You will try to cure yourself by going to the doctor and taking medicine etc. If you have mamata for someone else, then if they are sick with a fever you will have the same degree of care for their condition as your own. When one does sadhana then this sense of mamata grows and one ultimately has the feeling of mamata towards the entire created universe. Without sadhana, one’s sense of mamata will be extremely limited whereby one might only care about their own individual existence. So when the mind is extremely narrow one only has mamata for oneself. Those with a slightly broader mind will have mamata towards their parents and family members. And as the circumference of mind expands one will have mamata for other relatives and community members etc. However, it is only with sadhana that the periphery of mind can grow further and further wherein one’s sense of mamata includes all beings and expressions of this cosmos. Parama Purusa has mamata’ for each and every entity - this entire creation, all living and non-living expressions.

Leftover monkey traits in humans

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "“Monkey”. On the slightest occasion, either due to fear or excitement, a monkey grimaces with clenched fist. So it is called kikhi. This habit of the monkey is prehistoric. Although the ancestors of human beings and monkeys are the same, they were separated at least one million years ago. So a human being also, when frightened or excited, clenches the fist and grimaces. A small child keeps its fist clenched most of the time, and the habit of grimacing also remains predominant in childhood." (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "When people become agitated they clench their fists and gnash their teeth. These are examples of the traditional legacy or structural legacy of human beings. They have been passed down from preceding stages of evolution. Grimacing and grinning are other examples, but these can be gradually controlled." (2)

Even today, one million years later, still humans carry those same monkey characteristics and instincts. For instance, monkeys bite and scratch when they are angry or fighting one another. That's why infants keep their fists clenched. And some humans also bite and scratch as their chief method of attack / self-defense. Hence the proverb: Fight tooth and nail. Because those days humans were using their teeth and fingernails as their primary weapons, just like monkeys do. And still today some humans resort to these monkey tactics.

How party politics spoils elections

Prout philosophy states, “Honest and benevolent individuals should carefully steer clear of party politics. The question may arise, In the absence of party politics, will honest individuals succeed on their own in forming governments or in serving the state? Is there any necessity for organized endeavour? In answer to this question I will say that those who are honest, who really want to promote human welfare, and who believe in a world government and the ideals of Ánanda Parivára [a  blissful, universal family], must possess the spirit of mutual cooperation. They may form themselves into boards exclusively for the purpose of rendering social service collectively (and not for fomenting  politics), but it will not be proper for such boards to contest elections.”

“People should cast their votes for deserving human beings – not for the lamppost holding the party ticket.”

Prout philosophy states, “To further the interests of the party, party politics may publicly oppose something which is often secretly encouraged. Communalism, provincialism, casteism, etc. – none of these are considered bad for the sake of party interests. The only identity of human beings is that they are humans – living beings. Party politics strives to keep people oblivious of this fact – it tries to pulverize the psychic wealth of human beings under the steamroller of party interests.” (1)

Note: Around the globe wherever there is democracy, people are making wrong choices in their elections. In theory, particular leaders are elected; but in practice no leader is elected. They are not leaders - they are party agents. And they favour their party when making laws etc. That is what Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar  is talking about here. For instance, in the US presidential election, voters of the democratic or republican party will vote for anyone on the party ticket. They are giving their vote to the lamppost holding the party ticket.
