Warning: forgotten sadhana + 4 more

Baba
Warning: forgotten sadhana

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Of all the different types of lethargy, spiritual lethargy is the worst. Spiritual lethargy means not to sit for meditation regularly. Those with spiritual lethargy have time for all other actions, but for spiritual practice there seems to be no time. They say, 'It's already late today - I'll do a short meditation right now, and devote more time to sa'dhana' tomorrow.' They sit attentively inside the cinema hall, but in dharma sa'dhana' they feel sleepy." (1)

Sadhana is the main thing

In our Ananda Marga, Baba places maximum emphasis on sadhana and encourages us to progress on this blessed path.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The only aim of life is spiritual practice-- the realization of the Supreme. Thus people will have to continue their spiritual practice as the primary mission in life." (2)

So our entire human existence must be aimed towards spiritual growth and development. We are to dedicate ourselves to divine realisation-- and not towards any other secondary endeavpour. Here again is Baba's reminder about the importance of our spiritual practices.

Baba says, "Life is a spiritual sa'dhana' and the result of this sa'dhana' is to be offered at the altar of the Supreme." (3)

Danger of spiritual lethargy

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Spiritual lethargy means not to sit for meditation regularly. Those with spiritual lethargy have time for all other actions, but for spiritual practice there seems to be no time. They say, 'It's already late today - I'll do a short meditation right now, and devote more time to sa'dhana' tomorrow.' They sit attentively inside the cinema hall, but in dharma sa'dhana' they feel sleepy." (4)

Baba says, "Of all the different types of lethargy, spiritual lethargy is the worst." (5)

Instead of realising one's potential, due to spiritual lethargy, life just passes in a most mundane and common manner.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Every human being, from the age of fourteen or fifteen, has an innate desire to ideate on Parama Purus'a. With cosmic ideation one will attain vast expansion of mind, one will become great in all respects. No one can check the all-round growth of such a person. People realize this and yet ignore it and thus waste their time getting old for nothing. That is, they waste their time in non-spiritual pursuits. This is called 'spiritual lethargy'. It causes the greatest harm to human life because it results in only a very small percentage of the human potentiality - maybe one or two percent - being utilized by humans...Due to spiritual lethargy people are unable to grow, and thus remain very ordinary. They come to the world, live, decay and die as ordinary human beings." (6)

The greatness of tantra

Baba has come onto this earth and blessed us with all tools and practices to overcome obstacles and difficulties. And even more specifically, the tantra of Taraka Brahma crushes and eliminates all kinds of spiritual letharginess.

Ananda Marga ideology teaches us, "'Tan' means 'dullness', 'lethargy' and 'tra' means liberator. That which liberates you from spiritual dullness, spiritual lethargy is Tantra." (7)

So as we sincerely follow His guidelines and involve in AM intuitional practices (sadhana), then it is sure that all spiritual letharginess will vanish from life. In which case, we will become proper mediums to serve Him and establish His mission, by His grace.

Baba's warning

Here Baba severely warns us about what will happen if one gives greater priority to worldly pursuits and forgets their sadhana.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Some people think early in life, even at the age of twelve or fourteen, about how they can utilize cent percent of their psychic power and perfect themselves through spiritual practices. Unfortunately, due to lethargy, they fail to utilize their capacity and thus their potentiality gradually diminishes." (AV-7)

Conclusion

Baba has given all in AM the unique opportunity to make sadhana a deeply spiritual experience where we fall more and more in love with Him. May we make our human live bereft of any spiritual letharginess and become deeply ensconced in His blissful flow-- loving and serving Him.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology says, "When spiritual aspirants advance towards Parama Purus'a by dint of the practice of yoga or Tantra, they develop an exclusive bhakti towards Parama Purus'a."

Ananyamamata' Vis'n'ormamata' premasaungata'

"'Spiritual aspirants withdraw their minds from all mundane objectivities, and with the same intention direct all their physical, psychic and spiritual propensities towards Parama Purus'a.' They remove their individualities, and accept Parama Purus'a as their nearest and dearest one. This is what is called exclusive love for God. This is called kevala' bhakti. And only in this stage does devotion reach its fruition or culmination." (8)

Namaskar,
In Him,
Nirakara

Dharmic person more effective than book

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Still, a controller is necessary in the physical sphere, highly necessary, because in this physical sphere, those of animal nature seize the morsels of food from others’ mouths like mad dogs. In this material sphere, living beings in human form, driven by dogmas, dash the only children of widows to the ground. In this material sphere, demons greedy for wealth starve the simple, innocent and disunited people to death, bit by bit. In this material sphere, the mighty rip out the tongues of the weak and silence their voices forever; they deprive them of the opportunity to express their inner urges. Thus there is a great necessity of a strict disciplinary code for this physical world. It is not necessary for this code of discipline to be always in the form of a book. Rather, a benevolent person of spirited intellect can work more effectively than a book in this regard." (1)

Prout’s solution to urban blight

Prout philosophy states, “Today there are too many obstacles on the path of morality. Urban civilization is one of the chief reasons of moral degeneration because many people are compelled to live undesirably in small, congested places. This is inimical to morality in individual life. Solitary living for some time is essential for the cultivation and development of morality.”

“Where the population is very dense, milk and vegetables are in short supply, and these are indispensable for healthy survival. When the demand is more than the supply, adulteration goes unchecked. To meet the deficit in the supply of milk, people mix water with it. To meet the demand for diamonds, imitation diamonds are produced, because the demand is more than the supply. Cities become dens of corruption because of antisocial elements, but generally such things are not noticeable in villages.” (1)

Many swindlers lurking in their midst

Prout philosophy states, “In villages, everybody knows everyone else. Everybody knows the livelihood of their neighbours. But even after twenty years of living in a city people seldom get acquainted with their neighbours. They don’t even know that there are many swindlers lurking in their midst.”

“However, the slogan, “Go back to the village” alone will not suffice. City life has a great attraction for people generally so they run to cities for their livelihood. To stop this trend intellectuals and others will have to look for their livelihood in villages. The supply of cheap electricity and the expansion of cottage industries in villages are of paramount necessity today. By cottage industries I do not mean outdated, primitive handicrafts. Cottage industries must be efficient, modern mechanized units.”

“From the economic viewpoint decentralization is an absolute necessity. With the exception of heavy industries and essential government offices, all industry should be shifted to the villages. To stop overcrowding in the cities this is the only feasible approach.”

“Villages are not congested, so antisocial people will not be able to hide themselves there. If they try, the police can easily detect them.” (2)

Price of poor leadership

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The behaviour of the respected and elder persons in society is an example and ideal for others; it is followed and imitated by the succeeding generations as well. Today there is catastrophe and misery in human society and there is one reason: the defective leadership of society. People blindly follow even unintelligent leaders. The leaders hypnotize and attract thousands with their tall talks, gestures and other dramatics. Understand that the poverty and misery of any people in any country are the sins of the leaders. True leaders should always be vigilant and think how to work best for human society: they must be ever cautious that under their guidance the people are not led to darkness, death and immorality." Niilakantha Divas: inner significance + 5 more

Baba
Niilakantha Divas: inner significance

Namaskar,

In addition to the historical and festival aspect, Niilakantha Divas has another angle as well. Baba has not only given a spiritual philosophy but social teachings also: Prout and neo-humanism. While propagating Ananda Marga social philosophy, anti-social elements will try to obstruct your path. And if you persevere they will try to harass and kill you. This has always happened across human history in the struggle for dharma. Whenever good people have tried to do something meaningful they always faced staunch opposition. But no matter how mighty the opposition is they will be defeated and destroyed. And ultimately dharma will be victorious.

Cowards compromise with sin & give up ideals

When Mahasambhuti comes in human form He teaches everything, small and big, for the upliftment of society. Good people want to make the society better but usually they do not want to fight. That is why many become goody-goodies, i.e. cowards like an earthworm. They compromise with sin and give up their own ideals. Sadguru Baba’s example is completely different. He gave Ananda Marga philosophy, Prout, and neo-humanism; and, when He sought to establish those teachings, demons in human form forcibly tried to stop Him in hideous ways. They put Baba in jail and poisoned Him in an attempt to kill Him. But Baba never compromised on His ideal.

Ultimately, He came out victorious and Ananda Marga philosophy was established. Those demons accepted their defeat and no longer opposed Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. By His actions, Baba is teaching us that a person should do and die for their ideals. No matter how mighty the opposition is they will be defeated and destroyed. And ultimately dharma will be victorious.

Fake or true margiis / wts

In examining the history of AMPS, one can easily understand who is a real dharmika and who is fake. Just one needs to see that person’s conduct and evaluate how far they cowed down to sin and to what degree they fought or are fighting for their ideal. One should always remember that true margiis and moralists are always in an extreme minority. But they are the real flag bearers, vanguards, and sadvipras. Those who compromise with sin are like earthworms.

Opportunity did not end in 1990

Also, bear in mind that this opportunity did not end in 1990. This fight between virtue and vice will go on forever in various fields. Yesterday it was, today it is unfolding, and tomorrow it will continue - and far into the future. So at present, look around you and see who is a coward and who is a real Ananda Margii. Everyone should become real by fighting against the sinners and establishing Ananda Marga ideology which Baba has given in black and white. Niilakantha Divas gives this supreme message.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Vanii guides us, “Today all over the world, a grim fight has started between the evil forces and the benevolent forces. Only those who possess the moral courage to fight against the evil forces, can give a soothing touch to the struggle-torn earth with the balm of peace. Remember you are spiritual aspirants. Hence you alone shall have to undertake the mighty task of saving the earth.” (1)

Ananda Vanii states, “History bears testimony that whenever a person states the absolute truth in any sphere of life, whether it be spiritual, social, economic or otherwise; sought clarification of doubts or protested against injustice and wrongs, the evil forces forthwith plotted against the person, administered poison, slandered and assaulted that person with rage, misused authority and mercilessly dealt blow after blow; but the blows boomeranged and ultimately the evil forces were annihilated by those very blows. Remember, by an unalterable decree of history, the evil forces are destined to meet their final doom.” (2)

In Him,
Satyadeva

The occasion of Niilkantha Divas is observed every year on February 12th.

How some blame Parama Purusa

Ananda Marga scripture says, ”People often hold Parama Purusa responsible for calamities that befall them, but in fact they alone are responsible, as the suffering of fate is only the reaction of their own previous actions. How can Parama Purusa be responsible? Human beings themselves are answerable for their fate as it is their actions alone which create it. They alone will have to bear the consequences of all their actions. No one else can substitute for them. Their good deeds beget good results, while bad ones beget bad results, and they will have to experience both without exception. This is the law of Prakrti and no one can change this law.” (1)

In the general society as well as in Ananda Marga there are some who never accept their own faults. They blame others for whatever they do wrong - for their own misery. Sometimes they accuse their friends or parents, and in the spiritual realm they accuse and blame Parama Purusa for their suffering. They never try to understand the cause of their misery; they never change their behaviour or modus operandi. They continue on in their old patterns, repeating the same mistakes. So they never grow.

For example, those who are greedy eat more and more until they incur a stomach disease. Then they will blame Parama Purusa for giving them a test and making their stomach bloated. After dharmacakra or in discussion, others patiently and rationally try to help them understand the real issue, but they never understand. This type of devotion is third-grade devotion. Such persons have some devotion where they have some relation with Parama Purusa, but ultimately theirs is a lowly relation because they are blaming their misdeeds on Parama Purusa.

True bhaktas never fault or blame Parama Purusa. Rather they always stand in favour of Parama Purusa and defend Him.

Once again we should refresh ourselves on this matter by re-reading Baba’s divine teaching.

Do you know this answer?

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Those who believe in the equal distribution of the world’s wealth, naively underestimate the power of moha vrtti. The human mind can be sublimated only by spiritual ideation, not by any high-sounding philosophy. This utopian idea has proved ineffective in the past and in the present and will continue to prove so in the future." (1)

They missed the point about infatuation vrtii

Answer: In His above teaching, Baba is indirectly referring to communist leaders. They underestimated moha vrtii with regards to the people’s attachment for their land or wealth. Those communist leaders were fascinated with their own philosophy and could not understand that the common folk would not like giving up their land or wealth. So when their land or wealth was taken from them, the farming suffered. Not enough food was produced; and the end result was widespread starvation and strife. The root cause of the problem was that those communists failed to take into consideration moha vrtti. Forcibly taking the people’s land or wealth set off this entire negative chain of events.

Gay life & AM: mutually exclusive

More and more in the west the gay movement is rampant. That is why this following teaching is very important. There is no room for confusion about the stand of Ananda Marga on this issue.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Love and passion are mutually antagonistic tendencies. The attachment for a finite thing is an expression of extroverted energy, whereas the attraction for the Infinite is an expression of the introverted energy. That is why these two can never co-exist. Therefore the aspirant has to skillfully to transform passion into love." (1)

Ananda Marga is the path of introversial movement towards the Supreme Entity; it is not the path of sensuality and lust. These two opposites cannot co-exist. They are mutually exclusive. Either one may goad their mind towards Parama Purusa, or they may indulge in animal propensities. There is no scope to do both.

That is why there is no option for leading a gay / homosexual lifestyle in Ananda Marga teachings. Because a gay lifestyle is based on the baser propensities - sex for sex sake. Every dedicated Ananda Margii will easily grasp this point - it is just a matter of simple mathematics. Whereas, it is far more difficult for those goaded by those lower propensities to understand.  That is why it is said that until the mind reaches a particular level, one cannot assimilate the teachings of Ananda Marga ideology. Ananda Marga is for standard human beings not those with an animal mind and a human body.

The selfish man is the eater, the others are his food

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "What a dangerous outlook! What a rosy philosophy of capitalism! God save humanity from such perverted philosophy. Man’s desire for worldly pleasure does not cease until he finds a really great ideal. His hunger is insatiable. The wolf in him seems to say over and over again, “I am hungry, I am hungry.” His mouth is agape all the time and the fools of the earth, resigned to their belief in predestination, are swallowed by it. These wolves eat up their flesh and blood and cast away their insipid bones. Are we to support this wolfish philosophy? The dirty-clothed laborers, their faces lined with hard labor and fatigue, are not human beings in the eyes of those who have Mammon by their side. The characteristic of a vested interest is that it has no other thought but itself. The selfish man is the eater, the others are his food. His needs are never-ending." (1)

Depriving someone of this right is gross selfishness

Ananda Marga philosophy says,  "Out of his salary the poor man has to pay his house rent, support his family, educate his children, provide milk for his baby, marry his daughters. Are those necessities only for the people of the upper classes? Are these not the minimum necessities of life? Yes, but these thoughts of the poor are no concern of the rich! Such thinking involves some sacrifice, does it not? From where would objects of luxury for the rich come, if hunger were not the hard task-master of the poor? Let the daughters of the poor collect cow-dung forever and their sons be slaves in the households of the rich. What a fine arrangement! The high hopes of the poor?–pooh! pooh!! Aren’t they all moonshine?"

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us,   "No two things in the world are alike. So I do not suggest recasting everything into one mold. Still, for humanism and justice, equitable distribution of the resources of the universe is indispensable; co-ownership of the world’s resources is the birthright of every individual. Even a small attempt at depriving someone of this right is gross selfishness. Except when a special favor becomes necessary to give certain individuals impetus and inspiration, all persons must be given equal rights and opportunities in all spheres. Every individual must have equal rights regarding food, clothing, housing, medical aid and education — those things that are absolutely  necessary for existence." (1)
