Bringing new people onto the path + 2 more

Baba
Bringing new people onto the path

Namaskar,

What Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna taught has been almost completely lost. Their dharmic teachings on sadhana have been converted into idol worship. The pictures of Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna that people use nowadays are merely a figment of the artist’s imagination. Thousands of years ago there was no concept of pictures, and people did not even know how to make idols as their craftsmanship was not refined enough. In the old caves of India, if you look at traces of pictures then you cannot even recognize the face properly. Making idols and idol worship is a recent phenomena.

Sadhana in ancient days: photography

In the dhyana mantra of Lord Shiva, it states that Lord Shiva was fair in colour; and, Lord Krsna was also of fair complexion. In ancient times, sadhakas were taught to imagine the form as there was no photography; that made sadhana very challenging. The life of sadhakas was very difficult in ancient times, struggling for their daily existence, what to speak of having time for artistic pursuits. Nowadays, dogma has crept in as the colour of Lord Shiva’s complexion is portrayed as blue, but that is wrong. Yet, with the mushrooming of religious art, there are innumerable images that reinforce this dogma. In that manner, many of the original and true features of Lord Shiva discussed in the dhyana mantra have long been forgotten, as the pervasive nature of today’s paintings of Lord Shiva create an entirely different portrayal.

Ask for help from God

Ta’raka Brahma comes to the earth in yuga sandhi (crucial times) where there is a need, and He shows us the path. The most important thing is faith in Sadguru. Faith originates in a sadhaka when there is an urge for liberation. In this creation, Paramatma has no favoritism; all beings are His children. That is why freedom is granted to each human, whereby they have the right and opportunity to ask God for help. Those who utilize this freedom and ask for divine help get the path of sadhana.

The principal meaning of the Ga’yatrii mantra is, “O’ Lord, lead me along the path of righteousness.” There is only one path; do japa of the Ga’yatrii mantra with a clear and sincere understanding of its meaning. Or in your mother tongue recite, “O’ Lord, lead me along the path of righteousness.” Here the point is that the idea is the key point. So one can do the practice without knowing the Sanskrit version.

By reciting the mantra japa of the Ga’yatrii mantra or cultivating that idea in the mind, one develops the desire for liberation, and by His grace one will get the right path. It will be clear in the mind that Ananda Marga is the right path; the mind will realize this truth. Unfortunately, many  non-margiis in India do not follow the proper approach. Rather, they do the Ga’yatrii mantra japa to get a good marriage for their children, for success in exams, to get a prestigious job, or other mundane desires and allurements.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

One will get the right path

There is always a play between vidya maya and avidya maya, and one should always try to request the Lord that, “There are many beliefs, and many sayings in this world, and as an ignorant person I do not know what is the right path. Please show me the right path so that I can come closer to you.” When one’s longings become intense, and one searches for the right path, then one will get the tantra of Ananda Marga. This process happens and will continue to happen in the future as Parama’tma is one and seated within you and listens to your longings.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “One requires divine help. And I know one is sure to get divine help. And I know further that one is getting divine help. And I know still further that in future, for infinite time and infinite space, one will be getting this divine favour. And you are all sádhakas. You will certainly attain that supreme stance and enjoy that divine blessedness. You are sure to enjoy it, my sons and my daughters.” (1)

In Him,
Nira’ka’ra

What to do

Question: Baba says that Parama Purusa should be called by one name only. But our Ista mantra and Baba nam kevalam are two different names. So how can Parama Purusa be called by one name?
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Why different names in sadhana & kiirtan

In one’s own puja one should use the given Ista mantra in the sadhana lessons one does. But kiirtan is different. Kiirtan is common for all. In kiirtan, one takes the Lord’s name loudly so that others can also listen. Kiirtan is not done silently, unlike japa. When one is doing kiirtan then one conveys the meaning to the others around that Parama’tma’ is everything. The common name in kiirtan is Baba. Everybody will understand while singing kiirtan that one is taking Parama’tma’s name. Ista mantra is an indirect name of Parama’tma’ and it points towards the one omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient Entity.

The Ista mantra given to the sadhaka is used in meditation, whereas a name which refers to Parama Purusa and is common to all should be used in kiirtan. For example, a mother has various names — people call her using a different name in the office, at home, and in the neighborhood; in all these places she is called by different names. But for a child, a mother has a special link or connection. If the child calls the mother as Madam, or using her full name, then the mother will not like it and it will not be a good feeling for the child.

So when one gets one’s Ista mantra, that is used in the various lessons in sadhana. Since kiirtan is done collectively, one cannot use the Ista mantra in kiirtan. That is why the Ista mantra is given uniquely to each individual sadhaka, and one collective mantra is used in kiirtan.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

For committed sadhakas

Note: The below section is quite brief; only those will be able to understand who have some background in Ananda Marga philosophy.

Question: There are some people who use one name both in pu’ja’ and in kiirtan. For example, the name of “Hare Ram Hare Krsna” both in pu’ja’ and in kiirtan.

One who likes “Hare Ram Hare Krsna” can certainly say that. But where spirituality is concerned there is a need for Sadguru and complete surrender to Sadguru is needed. When one has been caught in the grasp of maya, then one cannot get liberated from maya because the hands are tied by the noose of maya no matter how strong one individual is. That is why it is said in sadhana, tantra, and spiritual science that one has to take help from Sadguru. So whatever name Sadguru tells to chant, the sadhaka takes that very name---and does not choose whatever they like. If Sadguru says to use the name “Ram” then the sadhaka will use the name “Ram”. In this way, one has to have full faith in Sadguru. If one does not have faith in Sadguru then the path is dark. If one chooses whatever one likes, as every individual has the freedom to choose what one likes, then sadhana is doomed. There are about seven billion people in this world, and each one has unique knowledge as well as freedom. Many people choose whatever they like and very few choose the path of sadhana. Many people may say why not take the name of Christ or “Hare Ram Hare Krsna”. But that is not the tantric way.

Problem with clerics / priests

Note: Human beings have an infinite longing which can't be quenched by worldly possessions, mundane collections, or material gains. So people get attracted to religion, but religion is not the answer. A true seeker has to search within one’s through yoga and meditation because the Lord is sitting in your heart. If one does meditation then all of their infinite longings will be fully quenched and the aspirant will feel and practically realise that blissful state of eternal peace and tranquility. Religion is not the answer. Sadly, in the name of God, religious agents exploit the common mass and innocent people in endless ways. They camouflage their dealings in various shapes and forms. Those with keen eyes can understand the falsehood that religions propagate. History bears testimony that religion has been the cause of so much human suffering. And still it is going on.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “If someone argues that an arum dish rather than a potato dish should be offered in the temple of Jagannath because potato is non-indigenous it is the height of absurdity. Does Jagannath make any discrimination between different countries? Is there any difference for Him between the river Ganges and the Jordan?” (1)

Note: Lord Jagannath means the Lord of the universe. There is a rule in the Jagannath temple that foreign foods should not be offered to Lord Jagannath. However, this is completely dogmatic because for the Lord of universe nothing is foreign. All falls within His domain.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “All lands are His own land; everything is within His mind, created with His own atoms and molecules, and resonated with His sacred ideation. Those whose preachings encourage such discriminatory feelings are the worst enemies of humanity.” (2)

Note: The central idea of the above teaching is that on this earth or  in the universe there is no such thing as a holy place. No place is holier than anywhere else because all places are the home of the Lord. There is no place where He is not; so each and every place in this cosmos is equally holy.

“These are the people who in every age in the name of religion have caused blood to flow, and have injected the fear of heaven and hell, of ghosts and demons into the human mind. These are the people who made human beings lifeless puppets.” (3)

Note: In His above teaching, Baba is talking about fundamentalist priests (mullahs, rabbis, clerics, and other religious leaders) who impose a fear complexes and irrational beliefs on their unsuspecting followers in order to control and manipulate them.

Greed & cruelty

Note: In the below teaching, Baba guides us that no religion can hand out or guarantee one’s salvation. It is not based on one’s birth or social standing. Those are just the dogmatic proclamations of the various religions. Rather, the way to progress on the spiritual path is to adopt a cosmic outlook, do sadhana sincerely, and look upon one and all as an expression of the Supreme Entity.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us “It is said, “One who knows Brahma becomes a brahman.” But this definition of a brahman is inconvenient for them so they have declared that the son of a brahman is a brahman and the son of a vipra is a vipra, whether they merit the title or not. In this way they have cheated the simple, mute and gullible masses for centuries together.”
“They do not have the key to salvation; no, they hold only one thing in their hands: the binding rope. They don’t possess the spirit or the valour to sing the songs of human emancipation. Their eyes do not shine with the radiance of universalism, but squint with the greed and cruelty of vultures. Buddha was the first person to revolt against their cruelty and devouring greed.” (4)

Note: In religion, there is nothing positive. In the name of God, religious agents exploit the common mass and innocent people in endless ways. They camouflage their dealings in various shapes and forms. Those with keen eyes can understand the falsehood that religions propagate. History bears testimony that religion has been the cause of so much human suffering. And still it is going on.

About Islamic cruelty

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Humanity, in its all-out quest for this aesthetic science, attained spirituality. One must acknowledge this. Herein lies the excellence of aesthetic science. For this reason, I have given my whole-hearted and explicit support for nandana vijiṋána. You know that there are certain religions which do not encourage aesthetic pursuits. You will notice that in those religions inertia, inferiority complexes and a sense of violence are predominant.” (5)

Accumulated wealth of  religious temples

Kindly see the below image to understand what is going on in these religious temples. On the one side, our human society is suffering terribly from all kinds of economic problems and disparities where many lack the basic, minimum requirements of life whereby millions of impoverished people are starving and dying due to lack of proper food, shelter, medicine, and education, and on the other side these religious places have massive stashes of unutilized wealth. The best response would be if those religious sites utilized their wealth for general economic development of their locale or for the greater population.

Sadhana: main pillar of life + 2 more

Baba
Sadhana: main pillar of life

Namaskar,

Each and every margii knows the importance of practising sadhana on a daily basis so that we can move along the path of spirituality and reach our goal i.e, attain Parama Purusa. And even more fortunate are those who learn sadhana in childhood as the following story explains.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Baba story about a young sadhaka

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Once a child named Dhruva started doing sadhana and singing bhajanas at the early age of five. This scared the eminent rsis and munis. They thought that this young boy would surpass them in spiritual excellence. So, as devotees, they all implored Narayana to save them from being defeated and humiliated. Narayana sent Narada to resolve the issue. So Narada came to the boy Dhruva and tried to allure him with toys, sweets, a kingdom, and things of that sort. He inquired why the boy was so enthusiastic about sadhana and bhajanas at such an early age, especially when he had a whole lifetime at his disposal for spiritual pursuits.

Dhruva replied,
Kaomara acaret prajinah dharman
Dhgavataniha Durlabham manusam janma tadapyadhruvamarthadam

"'O Narada! You are a sage, you know much more than I do. Yet I wish to mention, in order to clarify things, that we get a human form after numerous animal lives.' 'Sukrataer manavo bhutva.' This human life is attained through the medium of lots of clash and cohesion. Of all creatures' existence, this human existence is the most rare. But even rarer is the human body that has been perfected through sadhana..."

"Dhruva further said, 'Narada, who knows what will happen tomorrow? You have become old and you got the opportunity to do sadhana and sing bhajanas at this age. But in my life, the sun may or may not rise tomorrow. Suppose I die tonight? So how can I wait till old age?'"

"Then Narada went away silently."

"'Dharman Bhagavataniha,' Dhruva said. Everyone should try to become established in Bhagavata Dharma in childhood." (1)

Sadhana: centerpiece of life

From this story, we can realize the importance of learning sadhana in childhood so that our whole lives can be infused with spirituality. As Dhruva says, why should we wait until old age to pursue spirituality as death can come at any time. So those who learn sadhana in childhood are truly blessed. And verily, whenever one enters onto the path of sadhana, they should make it the centerpiece of their life. And one should not delay in getting all the lessons of sadhana and practicing them diligently.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “Human life is short. It is wise to get all the instructions regarding sádhaná as soon as possible.” (2)

Ista mantra & realization

In our AM sadhana system, each and every ista mantra has two parts, or two syllables, and is coordinated with one’s breathing. The first syllable is repeated during the inhalation, and the second is repeated during the exhalation. And in each and every Ista mantra, the second syllable, i.e. the exhalation, is related with Godhood or Brahma bhava-- not one's unit 'I’ feeling. During sadhana, one gains realization primarily on the exhalation.

Ensconced in the Supreme

It is well known that people do not die while inhaling, but rather when exhaling. At the time of death, one performs their final exhalation and does not inhale again. In that case, no matter when death arrives, when one's final exhalation occurs, one is imbibed in ideation of the Supreme as they repeat the 2nd syllable of their Ista mantra. Therefore, at the time of death every Ananda Margii will certainly be ensconced in Brahma.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

Sadhana, mantra japa (repetition), and breathing are key elements in the life of every sadhaka. We should be very particular to know the meaning of our mantra and repeat it during each and every breath. By sincere and regular sadhana, that ideation will remain with us through every respiration, day or night. Then one’s life is truly blessed.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Now this japa is adjusted to your breathing, inhalation and exhalation. So if you practise it properly what will happen? Even while sleeping, automatically this japa kriyá will go on in accordance with your respiration – in accordance with your inhalation and exhalation. So while asleep you can do this thing. This is called ajapájapa. That is, there is no special endeavour from your side – the japa goes on automatically. Thus during the night you can also do puńya. Kuru puńyam ahorátram – “For all the twenty-four hours you can do puńya.”" (3)

In Him,
Hariish

Note: In select circumstances, the mantra itself is repeated in reverse sequence in order to gain the proper ideation, i.e. so that the ideation of Brahmahood is linked with the 2nd syllable, upon exhalation. These are some of the technical points related with sadhana. On these matters any further questions can be asked directly to a qualified acarya.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Importance of breathing

One of the most integral aspects of sadhana is breathing.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "One's life is determined on the basis of a few pulsations, and these pulsations depend on a specific number of inhalations and exhalations. The number of such inhalations and exhalations-- on an average, from twenty-one thousand to twenty-five thousand per day-- varies from person to person. The process of breathing has a great influence on the human mind and self, or soul." (4)

As Baba guides us, breathing is an intrinsic part of human life-- it is something we do 21,000 to 25,000 times per day, and this has a tremendous influence on our quality of mind and ability to dive deeper in sadhana.

Melody of the cosmos

“Nandana vane ke go ele…” (Prabhat Samgiita #0580)

Purport:

O’ Divine Entity, who are You who came in the lush and heavenly garden of my mind and spiritually intoxicated my whole being with the play of Your melodious flute? You filled the gentle breeze with the intoxicating and aromatic fragrance of sandalwood. The sweet scent of sandalwood is even emanating from Your body. Your presence has transformed everything.

Now, because of You, the mystical sound of omnkara resonates incessantly in my mind and heart. Every iota of my  being is vibrated by that subtle and enchanting sound. With the octaves of the seven worlds, You made me dance to the rhythm and melody of the cosmos. It is Your grace.

O’ my Dearmost, my restless heart does not want to leave You ever, rather it wants more and more of Your magnetic closeness. I feel that You are an integral part of my existence. Without You, I cannot survive. O’ Liilá Puruśa, with the divine play of Your Liila, You smeared the nectar of love in my mind and fully captivated my entire being. O’ Supreme Entity, I belong to You and You alone…

Inner workings of mantra + 3 more

Baba
Inner workings of mantra

Namaskar,

Sometimes for a sadhaka the repetition of the mantra becomes ineffectual. Specifically, this letter addresses how repeating the mantra without properly understanding its inner spirit is a waste of time. As sadhakas and disciples of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji we should have proper clarity on this important spiritual topic.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "To repeat the mantra without understanding its spirit is a waste of time." (1)

A key aspect of Baba's above teaching is that every sadhaka should know the meaning of their mantra and repeat it with proper ideation, otherwise their approach will be futile. Knowing the meaning is very important; only then will one be able to ideate properly. We should all be vigilant on this matter as it is related with sadhana and spiritual life. Here following are more points that every sadhaka should know.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Some people do japa kriyá in a very crude manner. It can be said that their method of incantation is like the talk of a parrot. Parrots talk, parrot say so many things, without understanding the meaning, without understanding the spirit of what is meant. Japa kriyá becomes as meaningless as the talk of a parrot for those who do it without love or emotion." (2)

Meaning of their own ista mantra

1. Without knowing the meaning of one's ista mantra, mantra caetanya (awakening of the mantra) will not be achieved. That means one's mantra will not vibrate their being or become "live".

2. In that case, proper ideation will not arise during mantra japa.

3. Instead, the mantra will remain dry - as if one is just involved in some empty, parrot-like type of repetition.

4. The sadhana mantra is in Saḿskrta, and if one does not know the meaning of the Saḿskrta mantra then it will not work. For example, if English speaking people who do not know Hindi are told to repeat niibu', then saliva will not be generated in their mouth. But if the same English speaking person is told the meaning of niibu' is lemon, automatically their mouth will produce saliva. Because they know the meaning of that particular word: niibu'. The overall point is that knowing the meaning of a word or phrase is necessary to achieve the desired result. One must know the meaning of the mantra.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

5. In our Ananda Marga sadhana system, there are many different ista mantras, and the meaning varies from one to another.

6. Each and every sadhaka must know the meaning of their own ista mantra.

Particulars of first lesson mantras

1. In our system of sadhana, certain ista mantras are repeated in their original order, while some mantras are repeated in reverse order. So sadhakas should know from their acaryas how their personal mantra works. One should know the meaning of their own mantra and its style of repetition: standard way or reverse order. Otherwise it will not work.

2. The selection of the mantra is done depending upon a sadhaka's samskara and according to a particular formula given by Baba.

3. In addition, there are various ista cakras so that must also be assigned. And everyone should know their own ista cakra. In His historic discourse from 1984 Agra DMC, Baba told to all that there are 4 ista cakras: (a) anahata, (b) vishuddha, (c) lalana' (tip of the nose), (d) ajina. According to one's own samskara, one should keep the mantra at any one particular cakra during first lesson as told by your acarya.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

4. In first lesson there is no ista cakra that is above ajina cakra or below anahata cakra.

5. And not only is there a mantra with first lesson, but in the lesson of dhyana there is also a mantra.

6. So all this should be known to each sadhaka regarding their own personal meditation practice.

Selecting an acarya

When you see an acarya sincerely involved in sadhana and spiritual life then you should learn from them. It is just like if you want to win a court case, then you do not hire xyz persons like a potato-seller or fruit seller etc. Rather one should seek out a trained attorney. And if you want to be cured of a disease, then do not consult a bicycle mechanic; rather one should find a doctor. Same is the case with learning sadhana: Seek out an acarya deeply involved in meditation.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Note: If anyone has any confusion about their ista cakra or ista mantra then they should not start haphazardly guessing and practicing it in the wrong way. Because that will be harmful. In that case, best is to communicate with a proper acarya.

Science behind three shuddhiis & japa

Every sincere sadhaka of Ananda Marga is aware about first lesson, i.e. iishvara pranidhana. It is comprised of three essential sections:

(a) Diipanii - literally means torch. It is just like if you are surrounded by darkness then you need the torch to see the path. With the help of the torch you will be able to follow the path and reach your destination. Similarly, when a sadakha sits in sadhana then the mind wants to wander around. So one must goad the mind step by step by doing one shuddhi after another and ultimately reaching to the ista cakra. This process is called diipanii. Devoid of this the mind will wander around - it will not reach the ista cakra, i.e. the place of concentration. In that case, how can one do proper japa and real sadhana - because the mind will wander around. That is why diipanii is needed. The three shuddhis (भूत शुद्धि, आसन शुद्धि, चित्त शुद्धि) come within the stage of diipanii.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(b) Mantra caetanya - literally meaning awakened mantra which has two sub-sections:
1. The mantra must be a siddha mantra; and,
2. the practitioner must know the meaning of the mantra and during sadhana the aspirant has to channelise that inner spiritual feeling and yearning towards Parama Purusa, coordinating and chanting the mantra with the breath.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "What is mantra caetanya, or the awakening of a mantra? Mantra caetanya is the condition where, with the help of a particular shabda [mantra], a person establishes parallelism between his or her external physical vibration [entitative waves] and his or her internal ectoplasmic vibration [incantative waves], and then raises this to the spiritual level." (3)

(c) Mantra'gha'ta - literally meaning when the mantra strikes the kulakundalinii. This occurs when one knows the meaning of their mantra and repeats it sincerely with devotion then that mantra repetition will automatically strike the kundalinii. This is a natural outcome if the above points are followed with sincerity.

These are all key for doing better sadhana. If any aspect is missing, the mantra will not produce the desired effect.

Why parrot sadhana is useless

Here below Baba gives some key guidelines about mantra repetition and doing sadhana with bhakti.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Some people do japa kriyá in a very crude manner. It can be said that their method of incantation is like the talk of a parrot. Parrots talk, parrot say so many things, without understanding the meaning, without understanding the spirit of what is meant. Japa kriyá becomes as meaningless as the talk of a parrot for those who do it without love or emotion. It even loses the value of internal suggestion, intro-psychic suggestion. Sadhana is withdrawing the mental propensities from all extroversive entities, and then collecting those withdrawn mental forces, mental propensities, and urging them towards the Supreme Entity. If there is no love for the Supreme Entity, this movement cannot be done. Where there is no love, the mind will not run after Him. So sadhana also becomes meaningless." (4)

If all the above points are followed then sadhana will be blissful. And one will desire to sit in sadhana for long periods.

Namaskar,
at His feet,
Ananda Deva

Diiksa: (dii = diipak or lamp; ksa = annihilation of samskara) the process whereby after initiation one’s sin or bad samskaras are eradicated.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “What does the term “diikśá” mean? During the DMC discourse in Madras, I said that the Saḿskrta word “diikśá” and the English word “initiation”, do not have quite the same meaning. But as there is no exact English equivalent for diikśá, the word “initiation” is generally, used. According to the scriptural meaning, diikśá is derived from “dii” and “kśa”. Dii is the first letter of the word “diipajiṋána” (light of knowledge) and kśa is the first letter of “kśayam” (exhaustion of saḿskaras).” (5)

~ In-depth study ~

#1: In the Senior Acarya Diary chapter on Iishvara pranidhana, section - “shuddhis”, Baba is describing that when sitting in meditation (padmasana, siddhasana, viirasana) one must keep the back straight so that the kundalini can the passage to rise upward from muladhara to sahasrara.

#2: Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "They should be taught to sit in padmásana [lotus posture], but instead of interlocking the fingers, they may rest one palm upon the other; and keep the spine erect.." (6)

#3: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Tailless apes can be taught sádhaná after some effort. The tailed bipeds will not be able to do sádhaná like the tailless bipeds because the backbone of the tailed bipeds, containing the controlling points of the five fundamental factors, does not come in one line. The controlling points fall on a curved line, hence they cannot perform sádhaná properly.” (7)

#4: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Mono-sided, straight or erect beings can perform sádhaná very well because all the five controlling points of the fundamental factors fall on a straight line...You see how fortunate you are to have a human biological structure. You have got a human frame. Humans should be obliged to Supreme Consciousness for this favour.” (8)

#5: Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The one who has followed the straight path of the sus'umna' canal upwards becomes one with Parama Purus'a." (9)

#6: Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Ujure uju cháŕi ná leo re báḿka. The word “uju” in Saḿskrta is derived from the Saḿskrta word “rju”. “Rju” means straight. The meaning of this line is “don’t accept the crooked path rejecting the straight one”. That is, just proceed along the path of “suśumná” not along the path of “id́á” and “piuṋgalá”.” (10)

~ Unrelated teaching ~

Why dogmatic family names should be discarded

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Casteism is a burden on the Hindu society. All the year round they preach casteism but on the polling days they decry it. This is wholly undesirable. It is better to avoid all titles. Titles signify the caste. If casteism is to be wiped out, it is incumbent to discard the titles. It is commendable if everyone adopts uniformity on title – Deva. Persons using a particular word more often will influence their minds with the meaning of that word. People are reluctant to use the word dása because this word signifies slavery. Whenever the so-called low caste people catch an opportunity, they declare themselves as belonging to the so-called elevated caste, etc. It is an ideal to become deva and for this reason Deva title should be adopted."
"Titles of the present society have undergone considerable changes during the past fifty years, the cause being that everyone aspires to pertain to an elevated caste. The so-called Shúdras also use the sacred thread. This is only an effort towards the concealment of one’s identity. By this means, they conceal only their disregarded status. This is to be regretted. It is consequent on social debility that they harbour the desire for changes in their situations. It is out and out purposeless to convene All-India Conferences or particular castes. All of them desire to assert and establish their rights. This is simply misuses of energy and money."
"The consent of those embraced must be sought for before renaming them in Samskrta. Language has got nothing to do with religion and as such, there is no reason for anybody depreciating the use of Samskrta. In this connection it may be added that the great emperor Aurangzeb used the term sudhárasa (juice of nectar) for mango (original Samskrta term for mango is ámra) and saddharma for Islam." (11)

So many areas of the globe are affected by caste and communal feeling. From the British lords to India's brahmins and so many points in between, and here above Baba gives the perfect antidote and solution to such narrow-minded and harmful thinking.

Heart of every living being

"Karuna' kare go krpa' karo sabe..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0414)

Purport

O’ Baba, please bless Your karuna on all. You are the most magnanimous and loving One. You do everything for everyone. Kindly be gracious to all due to Your own inherent mercy; please shower Your divine karuna on all living beings - suffuse Your grace on everybody. Baba, nobody is qualified to have Your endless mercy so You please be gracious solely on behalf of Your own inherent mercy. O' grace Personified, with the flow of Your compassion, shower Your krpa on every jiiva to cross the ocean of maya, granting liberation to one and all.

O’ Lord, You are ever-present everywhere, at the heights of big mountains as well as in the depths of deep seas, vast plains, and dark forests. In the heart of every living being there is a special seat for You. Baba, please bless all with the great boon of fearlessness.

O' Baba, whatever I know and whatever I do not know, I feel that everything is Your divine liila. Everyone is dancing in Your eternal vibration. Baba, You are above all. O' Parama Purusa, ever-effulgent Entity, please be gracious...

How the four root languages developed

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "When a swift horse runs its hooves make a turtur sound. That which makes a turtur sound as it moves is called turaga or turaunga or turaungama (that is, "horse"). That animal which makes a kurkur sound as it runs is called kuraga or kuraunga or kuraungama (that is, "deer"). In this way human beings have created many word forms and verb forms to express their mental ideas. This process of word formation is called "acoustic derivation" and the original verbal roots in all the world's languages were created in this way."

"The first word forms in all the world's languages were the original verbal roots. By adding prefixes and suffixes many different words were derived. Among the established languages of the world, mainly four can be considered as the root languages. They are Vedic, Latin, Hebrew and old Chinese. If one examines the derivation of the vocabulary of these languages one will find that their method or process is identical. (1)

Here Baba is explaining that these 4 languages (Vedic, Latin, Hebrew, and old Chinese) are root languages. The words and vocabulary of these languages are based on the natural sounds those inhabitants heard, such as when a horse runs. In that way those early people created root verbs.  Time passed; daughter and granddaughter languages were formed. And those languages were built upon the root verbs of those four original root languages.

For example, Sanskrit / Saḿskrta came from the Vedic language and from Sanskrit / Saḿskrta so many Indian languages were created: Hindi, Bengali, Gujurati, Malayalam and all the Indo-Aryan languages. They are all based on Sanskrit / Saḿskrta and follow the same root verb from the original Vedic. This is also happened with Latin, Hebrew, and Old Chinese. So many languages were formed upon the root verbs of these 3 other root languages, just as happened with Vedic.
