What is payment of interest of samskaras + 2 more

Baba

What is payment of interest of samskaras

Namaskar,

Overview: When someone commits a wrongful act, their mind becomes distorted. And, until that samskara is exhausted, their mind will remain distorted. Moreover, in that distorted state of mind, they themselves will feel burdened, not light and free. The reason is because their mind is not in a normal, balanced state. Rather, due to that distortion, they are living in an abnormal frame of mind. And living in that debased condition is itself a form of punishment. So the longer they remain in that state, by definition, the more they are punished. The key point is that they are not yet freed of that samskara. In contrast, after dharma samiksa’, those sadhakas felt immense bliss because some small or large portion of the burden of their samskaras had been removed, by His grace.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The operative factor is that when the mind does not suffer from any distortions (i.e. no samskaras) then one becomes Parama Purusa. So whenever we get freed from any samskara we are moving towards that state of supreme bliss. In contrast, the longer one has to live with any samskara, the more they will be burdened to the degree of their past nefarious activity, all due to their distorted state of mind. That is why, in a symbolic manner, it is said that the longer it takes for a person to undergo the reaction of their past action, the more “interest” they are paying on that initial action. That is Baba’s teaching from action-reaction theory.

Why one has to pay interest?

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Whenever an action is done, its reaction can never be equal and opposite. There should be some change. Mr. X borrows some money from Mr. Y. Say, he takes 100 Rupees. During the repayment, he will have to pay 100 plus some interest because the time factor has changed, otherwise he would have repaid the equal amount. Do you follow me? Due to change in the temporal factor, he will have to pay some interest.” (1)

Key question: What is meant by “interest” with regards to one’s reactive momenta? How does the interest of one’s reactive momenta take form?’
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Interest & workings of samskara theory

Here then is more about this topic.

(A) General principle: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction according to quantum mental suffering, assuming there is no change in time, place, and person. However, there is never an equal and opposite reaction. There is always some kind of time delay.

(B) Case example: When Ram hits Shyam then a samskara is formed in Ram’s mind, and the more time passes before he gets the reaction the more time Ram is living with the seed of that reaction in his mind. Ram had to live with that samskara (distortion of mind) for those many years until facing the reaction. That is the interest, i.e living with that burden in the mind. That’s to say, the sadhaka had to undergo the suffering of having that samskara (distortion) in the mind.

It is similar to taking a loan and not making the payments whereby you suffer because your credit rating went down. In that case, nobody will give you a loan as your overall financial stature declined. So you will be unable to purchase a house etc. Likewise, the sadhaka who suffers from having samskaras (distortions) in the mind will be unable to go close to Parama Purusa and become ensconced in His bliss.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Why samskaras are the interest

(C) Living with samsakras: What does it mean to live with huge samskaras? The point is that to be in human form with very few samskaras is a life of bliss. The samskaras are what cause difficulty in life as the samskaras distort the mind. Living with the burden of unexpressed samskaras is itself troublesome.

(D) Paying the interest: Paying interest means living with unexpressed samskaras / pending reactions. In that case, the mind is heavy and burdensome. Whereas if one has a very small accumulation of samskaras then the mind is comparatively light and free.

(E) Seeing Baba: When going to see Baba and coming in His contact, Baba would graciously burn or take away some of their samskaras. For instance, if a sadhaka got a beating or received punishment, thereafter the mind would feel light and blissful, by His grace. Baba would remove some of their samskaras, and people would feel completely renewed and free - their mind would be floating in cosmic bliss.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The burden of samskaras (part 1)

(F) When a person has a heavy load of samskaras (unexpressed reactions) in the mind that adversely affects their life. The interest itself is holding onto that samskara for a longer time period. When a person has that pending reaction in the mind it causes the mind to be tainted. So the more samskaras one has, the more tainted the mind is. In that degraded state, the mind has the tendency to indulge in crude vrttis. Moreover, because the mind is engaged in crude vrittis and degenerated dealings, that person cannot do great work. Only humans, neither animals nor plants, have been blessed to be able to engage in selfless work. But that quality is lost when they are burdened with more and more samskaras because then they will have a tremendous proclivity to indulge in lowly, crude dealings. And that causes terrible suffering for them.

(G) The longer one has to wait to undergo the reaction of a particular samskara, the more interest they are paying. Those who are sincere sadhakas undergo the reaction more quickly because sadhana accelerates the process.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

The burden of samskaras (part 2)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Action, whether good or bad, causes deformity in the mind, and in the process of regaining its normal form one experiences as reactions good results for good deeds and bad results for bad ones. After death mind takes the shelter of unit consciousness as reaction in its potentiality (saḿskára). The unit consciousness, in order to have those potential reactions expressed, will have to seek a body suitable for the expression of these reactions. For instance, Rama dies, and his mind takes the shelter of his unit consciousness (átman) as reactions in their potentiality (saḿskára).” (2)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It is important to clarify here that the actual form of suffering is not predetermined. It cannot be said what might be the actual reaction of a particular action. For example, it is not preordained that if one commits theft his things of the same value will be stolen as a reaction. The suffering is measured in terms of mental suffering to the extent which was inflicted on others by stealing their property. Thus the measure of experiencing the result of an action is mental and is in terms of pleasure and pain, and the actual form of experience has relatively no importance.” (3)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Rama has to experience the pain and pleasure of all these happenings, and so his unit consciousness will have to seek a body on rebirth, where an opportunity to experience all this will be available.” (4)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It is seen that unit consciousness and the potential reaction (saḿskára) cannot take shelter in any body for rebirth indiscriminately. A suitable body where the opportunity and field for experiencing their reactions (karmaphala) is available will have to be sought out. It is only in such a body that unit consciousness, along with total reactions in their potentiality, will seek shelter and be reborn.” (5)

Conclusion

(H) The phrase “paying interest” with regards to samskara theory is an artistic, linguistic expression. The foundational idea is that when one is living with the burden of that samskara, their mind is tainted. In that case, one is unable to do great work and feel His bliss.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(I) There are many ways for a sadhaka to reduce, exhaust, eliminate, or finish their samskaras. One very simple way is by doing sincere sadhana, by His grace. Then the burden is decreased or eliminated entirely. Having a pending samskara is itself a burden. By doing sadhana one burns samskaras and that lessens their burden and suffering.

In Him,
Caetanya

Waiting for Your footsteps

"Tumi esecho bha'lo besecho..." (Prabhat Samgiita #2435)

Purport:

Baba, You have come to me, poured affection, and made me Yours. You have spread Your sweet smile, captivated and dyed my mind in Your sublime colour, and embraced me as Your own.

My Parama Purusa, I continue waiting for Your footsteps, counting the time for Your arrival, and passing the moments in decorating for Your reception. My every second is spent in repeating my mantra in Your memory, in waiting for Your auspicious arrival. In all my various chores, now after coming to me, You have poured and drenched me with spiritual nectar. You have soaked the sweetness into the flower buds as well.

My Eternal Companion, there is now nothing that I desire from You, as You have given me everything. I am in Your anudhyana’ all the time, 24 hrs. By Your infinite compassion, I feel Your presence in kiirtana and sadhana; I am forever Yours. You have appeared in my heart in a very intimate, new, and newer bha’va, i.e. madhur bha’va. It is Your karun’a’.

Baba, the Ever-Present Entity, I feel deep inside my being that You love me and that You care for me in all the ways - always watching for my welfare. What more do I need than that….

Blessings at dharma samiikśa + 4 more

Baba
Blessings at dharma samiikśa

Namaskar,

Baba’s special occasion of dharma samiiksa was undoubtedly His great boon and blessing on humanity. And one of the intriguing points is who was most benefited by this historic and unparalleled event - true sadhakas or less qualified sadhakas?

During dharma samiiksa, Baba would graciously remove one’s load of samskaras. In that case, one would feel completely light, free, and vibrant - as if they were just walking or floating on air. It is just like if a person was walking down the street carrying 80kg on their back and suddenly the weight was removed. Naturally they would feel like a tremendous burden had been lifted. Same is the case with those who attended dharma samiiksa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Some may wonder what is dharma samiiksa and what was doing on those days when sadhakas were blessed to stand before Sadguru Baba. Essentially, when one creates or acquires a single samskara, they must face the consequences, i.e. undergo the reaction. And in a single lifetime, a person can create enough samskaras for thousands of lifetimes of suffering. Animals cannot create any samskaras; but, humans can and they must face the reaction.

Baba calls for dharma samiiksa

One day, all-knowing Parama Purusa Baba mercifully declared that He could not bear to see the terrible burden and suffering of His bhaktas, so He called for dharma samiiksa. Seeing the entire heap of one’s sins, Baba pointed out sadhakas for their most gross infractions and sinful deeds. Things that no one else knew about - only that sadhaka knew. When Baba pointed out their wrongdoing, they felt repentant. And by this way, Baba lifted their burden and burned those seeds of samskaras which were waiting for an opportune moment to sprout.

For example, if X tortured Y - then the amount of torture Y received, X has to suffer plus interest. That is samskara abhoga. One must then undergo the consequences - and that could be in the very next moment or in millions of years into the future. And until all one’s samskaras are exhausted they cannot get liberation. Not only that, old samskaras hinder one’s progress in sadhana and does not allow the mind to go deeper in spiritual realisation.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

That is why merciful Sadguru Baba called disciples and burned their samskaras. In turn, they felt changed and transformed - their load noticeably lightened. Even notorious people became good. Certainly though, as humans they could create more negative samskaras, and that is what many did. This is a brief explanation of dharma samiiksa - and here is more.

Most epoch-making event

Any true sadhaka knows, the grand event of dharma samiiksa is an unparalleled event in our human history.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "During the entire period of fifteen thousand years of human history, there has been no Dharma Samiikśá such as this. There is no mention of any such event in Sanskrit literature...Dharma Samiikśa is the most epoch-making event of the last fifteen thousand years." (1)

Those who came for dharma samiiksa experienced His unending mercy and were relieved of so many samskaras. It would have taken countless lives to undergo the reactions of their past actions, yet Baba freed them of so much of their burden of samskara. So long as from that day forward they did not create any new samskaras then they were very close to salvation, by His grace.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

After getting dharma samiiksa, when one would sit for sadhana, immediately upon closing the eyes, a strong vibration would fill the mind. And without dharma samiiksa, those same sadhakas were struggling mightily in meditation, trying hard to harness their wavering mind. So dharma samiiksa was a great boon and blessing.

Were all their samskaras burned?

As Baba is Taraka Brahma, His grace does not have any limit. It is beyond time, place, and person. So it is infinite and never-ending. But some people are thinking that those who got dharma samiiksa had all their samskaras burned.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "So if Parama Puruśa should take away some of the sins from the unit beings, they will feel relieved of the heavy load and feel lightened." (2)

The operative word in the above line is "some" of their sins, not all. Plus, by definition, any jiiva who has a physical body is under some type of bondage and hence has samskaras. It is evident that after dharma samiiksa, still those sadhakas had some samskaras to burn. That is why they exist.

While some who received dharma samiiksa went on to have stellar careers as sadhakas. Some WTs left and others did various negative misdeeds. Not only that, but various communal and group clashes occurred, thus separating Baba's organisation. And some who received dharma samiiksa distorted margii rights etc. And some created off-shoot organisations.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Again, most who were blessed with dharma samiiksa continued in their sadhana and service to humanity. However, there are those resorted to unbecoming behaviours and characterless acts. In that case, just imagine what they would have been like if they did not get dharma samiiksa at all.

New samskaras created after dharma samiiksa

Everybody should know that since the event of dharma samiiksa in 1982, most everyone has created fresh, new samskaras. They had to undergo their leftover reactions that were remaining after dharma samiiksa, as well as all the newly created samskaras. Because some of their samskaras were burned by Baba during dharma samiiksa, and some leftover remained.

Those who got dharma samiiksa did not have an equal stash of remaining samskaras.  But it is true that they got some part burned. However, the quantity of samskaras that were burned and what remained is known only to Baba only. After all, who knows what was the quantity of their accumulated samskara in comparison to others, plus one is creating new samskaras on a daily basis by not using 2nd lesson.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Conclusion

Ultimately those who got dharma samiiksa also need Baba's grace to get liberation for the rest of their heavy load of samskaras. Ultimately, if Baba is pleased then He can eradicate all one’s samskaras, whether they attended dharma samiiksa or not.

Namaskar,
at His feet,
Prabhu Dayal

The ones who were most benefited from dharma samiiksa were those good sadhakas. Because they had reached a stage in their development where they were established in 2nd lesson and Brahmabhava so they were not creating any new samskaras. So after dharma samiiksa they were able to maintain that feeling of buoyancy, by His grace, because they were not creating any new samskaras. In contrast, those lesser sadhakas who were still struggling with Sixteen Points and still tempted by worldly allurements were quickly creating new samskaras. So although Baba removed their load, very quickly they became burdened again. So they could only enjoy that feeling of lightness for a very short window. It is akin to taking a bath and feeling nice and clean and then directly jumping into a mud puddle. The feeling of cleanliness does not last. Such was the situation with those lesser sadhakas. Whereas top-grade sadhakas remained in that blissful state for years and decades after dharma samiiksa.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga ideology says, "And I know one is sure to get divine help. And I know further that one is getting divine help. And I know still further that in future, for infinite time and infinite space, one will be getting this divine favour." (3)

Karmaphala, samskara & its exhaustion

Ananda Marga ideology states, “What do we mean by the exhaustion of saḿskáras? According to natural law, each action has an equal and opposite reaction provided the three fundamental factors of time, place and person remain unchanged. However, there is almost always a change in these relative factors. Hence, an action does not always have an equal and opposite reaction. Suppose you have borrowed a thousand rupees from someone. If you return the money after a few months or even after a few years, you will have to pay some interest. If you return the loan immediately, however, there is no change in time, place and person and you will only have to return the original amount. If an action’s reaction is immediate, it will be equal and opposite. But if the reaction occurs after a change in time, place or person, its magnitude will increase. Some people suffer the reaction immediately, some after two years, some after one hundred years, and some after twenty lifetimes. The more the delay, the greater the reaction. That is, some “interest” will have to be added to the reaction of the original action. This is the natural law.”

Nábhuktaḿ kśiiyate karma kalpakot́i shátaerapi;
Avashyameva bhoktavyaḿ krtaḿ karma shubhá shubham.
Yávanna kśiiyate karma shubhaḿ cá shubhamaeva ca;
Távanna jáyate mokśo nrńáḿ kalpa shataerapi.
Yathá laohamayaerpáshaeh páshaeh svarńamayaerapi;
Tathá baddho bhavejjiivo karmá bhishcá shubhaershubhaeh.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “But when this is the law, how does initiation lead to the exhaustion of one's accumulated saḿskáras? Everyone has to carry the load of his or her saḿskáras. Now, if the reactions of one's actions occur quickly, one will not have to carry the load for a long period – the mind will not be burdened for long. People will experience mental peace and will advance happily along the path of life. After learning sádhana, even if there is a change in the relative factors of time, place and person, the payment of extra “interest” will not be necessary. That is, the reactions will be equal and opposite to the original actions. What is the reason for this? Another of Parama Puruśa's names is Hari. What is the meaning of Hari? “Harati pápáni ityarthe”. One who steals one's pápa (here pápa means “saḿskáras”) is called Hari. But why should Parama Puruśa steal anything? He already has everything. He does not need anything from anyone. Yet Parama Puruśa steals from His devotees – not directly but indirectly. This is a sorrowful matter as it goes against the principle of asteya, which tells us to refrain from theft. Parama Puruśa Himself steals. How shameful! How deplorable! Actually, He is compelled to steal. Why? He steals because He dearly loves His devotees.” (4)

Depending upon His grace

As Mahasambhuti, it is a great occasion that He did dharma samiiksa. But the question remains whether those who got it could keep themselves pristine or not. It is like if you got something but then it got spoiled. So during dharma samiiksa some samskaras got exhausted but then many of those persons just created more and more new samskaras. So you can imagine that those responsible for killing an Avadhuta in Ananda Nagar during the communal crisis, then they created the sin and in future they will reap the benefits of that. Then how can one think that such persons are all liberated souls and that we should adore them. There should not be any such feeling in anyone's mind about this. In the spiritual field everything is depending on His liila. Those who got dharma samiiksa should not feel that now whatever they like they can do. Rather everyone is depending on Baba's grace.

How religious leaders cheat believers

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The vipras [religious leaders] have invented and are still inventing new ways of exploiting different communities of people in different parts of the world. In some places they have lured people with the prospect of eternal heaven, injecting into them at the same time the fear of eternal hell. By claiming the doctrine of some particular vipras [religious] leader to be the word of God, they have blocked the natural expression of the human intellect and made people intellectually bankrupt. With the intention of permanently securing for themselves an exalted position in the eyes of the ordinary people, some vipras [religious] leaders have declared themselves to be the incarnation or the appointed prophet of God. Through their own so-called scriptures, they have indirectly let the common people know that no one can achieve the same proximity to God as they – so that an inferiority complex will remain forever in the minds of the masses, and due to this inferiority complex the masses will always follow their teachings, either out of fear or out of devotion. That is why even intellectual people have fallen into their trap and have been compelled to say, Vishváse miláy vastu, tarke vahu dúr [“The goal is achieved not by reason but by faith”] or Majhab men ákl ká dakhl nahii haen [“There is no room for reason in religion”]. Materialist sadhakas can’t understand this

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Take the case of the precious metal gold. Whenever you say “gold” you refer to gold in general, the gold of the universe. To be of some practical use, the gold will     have to be brought within the limitation of a certain form, such as a gold necklace, a gold bangle, or gold tiara. Women may get a certain pleasure by wearing these gold ornaments, but for the goldsmith has no practical use for them as ornaments. He is only concerned about one thing – gold. Likewise, due to the influence of the static principle, an infinite number of names and forms have emerged out of Parama Puruśa, the Singular Entity. Most people enjoy using these finite names and forms, but to practical spiritual aspirants they have no special importance. Sádhakas are only interested in the original substance and not its finite forms. Thus, their only object of ideation is Parama Puruśa. They only accept Parama Puruśa, the Singular Entity, as the goal of their lives, just as the goldsmith is only interested in the gold and not its different forms.”
“How can one shake off the influence of static inertness? How can one get freedom from the bondages of names and forms? Just as the goldsmith uses a hammer and process of melting (in fire) to extract the real gold from the various ornaments, similarly a practical spiritual aspirant will have to break the bondages of names and forms in this expressed world through the cultivation of knowledge (which is mutative), devotion (which is sentient). By virtue of the heat of the fire of sádhaná and the strength derived from sustained intuitional practice, a sádhaka can overcome the static inertness, the apparent cause behind the quinquelemental universe. Life and the world will become effulgent with the resultant unfoldment of latent consciousness.” (1)

Pranavatmakananda’s bogus story + 2 more

Baba

Bogus story: Pranavatmakananda

Namaskar,

Baba is Hari (God who steals others’ sins).

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “One name of Parama Puruśa is Hari. Hari means “He [God] who steals”, “He who takes away all your sin without your knowledge”...Parama Puruśa loves His devotee, so without the knowledge of the devotee, He takes away his sin." (1)

Some writers, especially those goaded by the dogma of a particular religion, have propagated that when Baba cures anyone then in result Baba becomes sick / bedridden. This very bogus idea is widely propagated by some confused Wts in margii communities.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

But if we accept this bogus propaganda that after taking others' pain / sin that Parama Purusa Baba suffers or becomes ill, then how can we say that He is Hari (omnipotent God who steals others' sin). It will be very difficult to think that He is Hari. Because there are billions of people on this earth, and countless others on so many planets etc, and if He steals their sins then He will be sick permanently. Yet in His letter of 5th March 1973, Baba in His own writing remarks that in His life He has had an excellent record of health. So Pranavatmakananda is spreading a big lie.

Bogus story #1: See Pranavatmakananda’s fraudulent claim

Look at the below blunder from Dada Pranavatmakananda’s book, “SSAM Advent of A Mystery”, page 455. Pranavatmakananda is spreading the ludicrous claim that Baba can’t handle even one person's sin because He becomes ill when taking on just a single individual’s negative samskaras / sin.

~ Pranavatmakananda’s book page 255: Baba gets sick taking a person’s samskaras ~

And Pranavatmakananda does not just make this bogus claim on one page, Pranavatmakananda repeats this error again, and again, and again.

Bogus story #2: For instance, on page 456 Pranavatmakananda falsely narrates in his book: “Baba’s close disciples took special care to prevent such people from having any contact with him, fearing that he would again fall ill after taking over their negative samskaras.” (PK Dada’s book page 456)

So Pranavatmakananda’s claim is completely fallacious. Ananda Marga teachings clearly guide us that when Parama Purusa cures someone then He will not face any reaction or become sick. Humans face reactions but Parama Purusa does not - there is no reaction. The cause and effect theory does not apply to Him.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The wrongdoer will have to undergo a reaction which is greater in degree than the original action: the doer will have to undergo a certain amount of pain as “interest” to the original action. This is what is meant by the term vipáka. It is applicable only to the microcosms and not to Parama Puruśa." (2)

Conclusion

Baba is Hari (God who steals others' sin). He saves and graces all in this grand universe, and He remains unassailed. He is the Mahasambhuti. In His role as Hari (God who steals others' sin) He graciously and effortlessly removes the sins of His children, without becoming sick.

Namaskar,
In Him,
Vasudeva
(Victor Trumpert)

~ In-depth study ~

Bogus story #3
  • On page 456-57 of his book, Pranavatmakananda misguides readers: “He [Baba] had absorbed the negative samskaras of a particular sadhaka and had consequently suffered from an ailment...unable to see Baba suffer, some Margis begged him to stop the practice of absorbing the samskaras of others.”

Bogus story #4
  • On page 457 of his book Pranavatmakananda misleads readers: “Through a slight illness or a little suffering I [Baba] can burn a lot of negative samskaras that I have taken on.”

Bogus story #5
  • On page 458 of his book, Pranavatmakananda misinforms readers: “”When I [Baba] teach kapalik meditation, I absorb a lot of negative samskaras from the person, that is why my face becomes dark afterwards.” Then I [Dasarath] asked him why he persisted in doing so, as he would have to suffer those negative samskaras in the form of different illnesses.”
So Pranavatmakananda is perpetuating this ridiculous dogma repeatedly throughout his book.

Equation of stealing sin and sickness is flawed

1. If we believe the theory that after taking others' pain / sin that Baba suffers then how can we say that He is Hari (God who steals others’ sin). It will be very difficult to think that He is Hari. Because there are countless people on so many planets and if He steals their sins then He will be ill constantly.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

2. If to save, conservatively speaking, several hundred thousand margiis, Parama Purusa goes to jail to suffer their samskaras and becomes ill, then what about all the millions and billions of His children that come to Him. He is the Supreme Father of all in this universe. How can He possibly take on their pain and sins when He becomes so sick and ill by, conservatively speaking, saving several hundred thousand Ananda Margiis. Indeed, to say that Parama Purusa Baba suffers by our sins is to undermine the stature of Him being Parama Purusa. He will not be able to handle all those sinners.

3. As the Parama Purusa, Baba presides over this entire universe, not just this earth. There are 8 billion people on this earth and He is constantly taking samskaras. He is Hari (God who steals others' sin) for all, margiis and non-margiis. Yet in this bogus story Pranavatmakananda is claiming that Baba got sick by taking the samskaras of one single person. This is very demeaning and indicates that Baba is not Hari.

But Ananda Marga philosophy states that Baba is Hari (God who steals others' sin). So what Pranavatmakananda is writing in His book is going against ideology. Non-margiis may challenge and accuse this is contradictory. Because on the one hand we say that He is Hari for the entire cosmos, yet when He takes the samskaras of even one person He becomes terribly sick. So they will conclude that Baba could not possibly be Hari (God who steals others' sin).

4. Baba is Parama Purusa; without His grace a blade of grass cannot move; He does everything; He manages the situation effortlessly. In His role as Hari He steals the sins but does not become ill or sick.

5. Yet Baba is always taking our sins and Hari is one who steals without telling, He is stealing always, but the sadhaka / human being does not know.

Hari always stealing sin but remains healthy

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "In Sanskrit, one name of Parama Puruśa is Hari. Hari means “He who steals”, “He who takes away all your sin without your knowledge”. In Sanskrit, the root verb hr means “to steal”. Now the relationship between the Lord and His devotee is very sweet, and extremely, purely, personal. Parama Puruśa loves His devotee, and the devotee also loves His Lord. Now the accumulated mountain of sin attached to the devotee is unbearable for the Lord. He wants to remove that mountain of sin from His devotees. He may say: “Oh, devotee, give your sins to Me.” The devotee will say: “No, Lord, I am ready to give You everything, I am ready to give You my soul, my spirit, everything, but how can I give my sins to You? I cannot.” But Parama Puruśa loves His devotee, so without the knowledge of the devotee, He takes away his sin." (3)

So many sinners come to Him from across the universe. If just taking the sins of, conservatively speaking, several hundred thousand people causes Him to suffer (i.e. go in jail or become sick etc), then He would be perpetually diseased and on His deathbed, and incapable of taking the sins of billions of others. Mahasambhuti Baba would never be healthy - but that was not the case. He was always taking the sins of the entire population (i.e. billions of people), and 99.99% of the time He was in excellent physical health. In His letter of 5th March 1973 Baba writes that throughout His life He has maintained excellent health. Whatever health problems arose, were due to the poisoning in jail.

Above all, when Taraka Brahma comes as Mahasambhuti, then willingly He plays a role as an ordinary human being. So as an ordinary human being sometimes healthy sometimes sick, sometimes happy sometimes sad-- these are the states which Baba would adopt in pretending to be like an ordinary person.

Mahasambhuti always has perfect equipoise

Or think of it this way, on those days when Baba was in good health then on those occasions He was not fulfilling His role as Hari (God who steals others sin) and He was not taking their sins. This is a ludicrous idea.

People have to change their mind and realise the fact that as the Parama Purusa Baba can do anything and everything and maintain perfect equipoise. For His liila, He went to jail.

In His divine liila, Baba has allowed Himself to be placed in jail because He wished to show us how to fight and stand firm against exploiters - even if it threatens or takes your life. So Baba's wrongful incarceration and hateful poisoning stand as an ideal way to teach us, His disciples. With His practical example He is guiding us that no matter how bad things get and no matter the obstacles, one should never cow down in the face of injustice.

With their small brains people should not wrongly conclude it was because He was taking others' sins, and that consequence is that He had to go suffer in jail. This following quote teaches that when Mahasambhuti comes He behaves like a human being.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "He needs no sádhaná, but just to set an example to others, He performs sádhaná with the masses." (4)

When you have a physical body then in natural course the body is sometimes sick and sometimes healthy - we should not associate that with sin.

Parama Purusa never faces any reaction

When Parama Purusa cures someone then He will not face any reaction and become sick. Humans face their reaction, but Parama Purusa does not - for Him there is no reaction. The cause and effect theory does not apply to Him.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "The wrongdoer will have to undergo a reaction which is greater in degree than the original action: the doer will have to undergo a certain amount of pain as “interest” to the original action. This is what is meant by the term vipáka. It is applicable only to the microcosms and not to Parama Puruśa." (5)

Ananda Marga ideology says,“Reaction is called vipáka in Saḿskrta. Whenever there is any action, where the action is dominating, the karma is dominating, the karma is prevailing, the karma is assailing, the karma is influencing, there must be reaction. But in case of Parama Puruśa, there is no such thing. All actions are done within Himself, within His Macro-psychic structure. So in His case, the question of being influenced by reaction does not arise. Therefore He is not affected even by vipáka.” (6)

Ananda Marga ideology says, “‘In the case of Parama Puruśa this question of reaction is not applicable, because there is nothing beyond Him – everything in this expressed universe is all created within Him, and He is dealing with His own created objects according to His own wishes. Thus no question of good or bad can arise, and that is why the matter of suffering the consequence of action also does not arise in His case. If you slap a decent person, that will be an undesirable action on your part; but if you slap your own cheek, will that also be considered an undesirable act? No, certainly not. No one will ever criticize you, or file a suit against you for this, because it is exclusively your personal matter. Likewise, whatever Parama Puruśa does, He does with His own created objects, and hence in that case the question of vipáka does not arise.” (7)

Parama Purusa is not bound by the cycle of action, reaction and suffering; these things are for jiivas - i.e. those bound by the noose of maya. Parama Purusa is the Controller of maya. So He is beyond that. It is a flawed idea to think that when Baba cures anyone’s cancer then He suffers from cancer for a few hours.

These bogus stories also are moving around

There are so many bogus stories moving around. You will come across them in due course. You might have seen or heard them in the past as well. Here I am giving two anecdotal examples of such bogus stories, which are directly related to these aforesaid discussed issues.

Bogus story #6

Circulated in WhatsApp forum ~
“It is very important to note that Baba became ill on the very day He was to leave for Ananda Nagar for the January l990 DMC function. Events at Ananda Nagar where the Communists were launching violent attacks on our workers were extremely serious. All of the workers felt that somehow by Baba's physical suffering the safety of thousands of Margiis who had come to enjoy the DMC had been saved by Baba.” (Bogus story #6 ends here) (courtesy WhatsApp margii forum)

Bogus story #7

Along that vein, someone posted a bogus story that mirrors this Christian approach. In the so-called Baba story that is spreading around, Baba is cited as stating the following while speaking to one Dada while He (Baba) was in jail:
(Bogus story #7 starts here)

"I feel so much pain.
No one else could endure such pain.
Why I endure it?
Because you, My sons and daughters
Are in great danger now.
If I were not suffering
Then you would be suffering
And you would not be able to endure it.
Like the hen and the chicks --
What does the hen do when the chicks are attacked?
She spreads her wings and keeps her chicks safe.
You all are in great danger now --
And I must save you.
If I did not continue My fast,
The suffering would be much greater."

(Bogus story #7 ends here)
This fake Baba story states that Baba has come to suffer and endure the pain for human beings. Yet as Ananda Margiis we can easily understand that this above portrayal is just a bogus story grounded in Christian dogma of the supreme suffering of Christ. Such a story has nothing to do with the dharma of Ananda Marga. Baba never supported nor acted in ways that even remotely resemble Christian dogma and their sinner psychology - never.

Margii befooled

With great concern, many, many margiis did not like to go close to Baba because they were afraid that He would fall sick. For instance, Rajeshvar Sinha of Bikaner did not want to visit Baba in jail because he did not want to give Baba pain and make Him sick by coming in His close proximity. Brother Rajeshvar was a sincere margii who attended all kinds of meetings but he just refrained from seeing Baba personally as he did not want to make Him sick. And this happened because Rajeshvar was misguided by so-called Baba story books. In those books there were countless stories where Baba cured the ailments of XYZ, ABCD sadhakas, and they wrote and concluded that in result Baba fell sick. Rajeshvar took this very seriously. That is why he did not go close to Baba. These types of Baba stories are half-truths, i.e it is true that Baba cured the ailments of countless sadhakas, but it is not true that He became sick due to that. This letter discusses this very point.

Intoxicating aroma

"Adrira ma'jhe tumi himagiri, pus'per ma'jhe pa'rija'ta..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1685)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, You are the Greatest among the great, the Sweetest among the sweet. Amongst all the mountains, Your status is like the towering, snowy Himalayas. Of all the flowers, You are like the most brilliant pa’rija’t flower with its intoxicating aroma. With Your own hand You are touching and playing the strings of the viina of my inner core and infusing bhakti. With Your soft, loving touch, You are arousing the divine ecstasy in my mind.

Baba, I have come on this earth again and again and have loved You in so many ways. My whole existence has always revolved around You. All along You were with me by my side; but, even then my heart could never be satiated to its full content. At this time, You have brought me again on this earth. And, You also have brought a basket full of love for me. Now, please remain along with me always - day and night.

Among all the things which are dear, You are the Dearest. You are my Priyatama, the innermost One of my core. Of all those whom I love, You are the most precious and always reside inside my heart. I love You so much. Baba, the way You are is impossible to explain through language. I do not have any words to express Your glory. So I do sastaunga pranam to You - thousands of times, infinite times, again and again.

Baba, please keep me at Your lotus feet...
