When stories undermine AM pracara + 3 more

Baba

When stories undermine AM pracara

Namaskar,

First of all we should remind ourselves of Sadguru Baba's teaching:

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "A study of history will make it clear that a strong and healthy society has not yet evolved on this planet. This is mainly due to the inadequate propagation of an ideology. Although at different times a few people thought of establishing a strong and healthy society, they...ultimately ended up projecting themselves instead of the ideology. Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away.... Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (1)

Public did opposite of what Lord Shiva & Krsna taught

This earth has witnessed the arrival of so many sages and great personalities who offered dharmic teachings for the people. Yet, time and again, their guidelines were washed away, and the only thing that remained was magical tales about those great yogis, rishis, and Mahasambhutis etc. As a result, the common people suffered. Keeping this in mind, step by step, we should understand how those followers destroyed the teachings of their gurus.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

When Mahasambhuti Lord Shiva came, He gave countless teachings on tantra, meditation, music, arts, society building etc. Yet when He left this earth, those followers only propagated magical tales of Lord Shiva. In result, due to a lack of understanding of Shiva’s teachings, the public suffered from the ills of dogma and did the exact opposite of what Lord Shiva taught. They started worshipping dogmatic idols instead of doing dharma sadhana. And verily, the common people suffered in all spheres of life. And Lord Shiva’s teachings were lost forever - and only magical tales of Him remained. Ultimately, the public remained blind, encountered untold miseries, and could not be benefited from Lord Shiva’s innumerable dharmic teachings. This shows us that the ideology should be propagated.

And verily, when Mahasambhuti Lord Krsna took advent, the same thing happened. He preached yama and niyama, asanas, pranayama, yoga, and meditation etc. But those followers only propagated magical tales of Lord Krsna. In result, due to a lack of understanding of Krsna’s teaching, the public fell into misery and did the exact opposite of what Lord Krsna taught. They made idols and started doing idol worship. Verily, the people suffered in various ways. All told, Lord Krsna’s teachings were lost forever - and only magical tales of Him remained. The public was kept in the blind, suffered from the ills of dogmas, and could not be benefited from Lord Krsna’s innumerable teachings. So we see once again the importance of propagating the ideology.

In both of these aforementioned cases, Mahasambhuti’s teachings went into oblivion as those followers only recounted magical tales and grandiose stories about Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna. Their philosophies were not passed on just those magical stories. So the common people could never learn and did the exact opposite of what those Mahasambhutis preached. In their ignorance, they built idols of those Mahasambhutis and worshiped idols and suffered on so many fronts. Unfortunately, the masses of humanity did not get an ounce of dharmic teaching or spiritual guidelines. This is the poisonous effect of telling only magical stories. That approach brings no benefit, only harm, pain, and suffering. So AM ideology should be propagated.

What distinguishes AM from dogmatic religions

Unfortunately, similar things are going on nowadays in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. Baba is Mahasambhuti, and all our Baba stories are 100% correct. But these factual Baba stories are being propagated alone instead of Baba’s ideological teachings with Baba stories. And, for this reason, our Marga society is not getting benefitted by Sadguru Baba’s innumerable teachings. Rather, they got exploited by special interest groups and faced tortures and suffering.

Remember, on the point of stories alone, people will not be convinced about the greatness of our Ananda Marga ideology. Although our stories are factual, that alone is not enough. Neither the common public nor dogmatic religious followers will be fully convinced by our stories. Because those various religions have their own mythical stories - albeit false stories. Whereas what truly distinguishes Ananda Marga teachings from those dogmatic religions is our unparalleled ideology. That is the main thing.

If one knows thousands of stories about Sadguru Baba, but is not following Ananda Marga ideological teachings and practices, then that is a very poor outcome. Ananda Marga philosophy covers every point of human life from dawn to dusk, sunset to sunrise, and birth to death. And if those teachings are not propagated then all is lost. Yet that is the sad plight that is unfolding nowadays. Certain people are just propagating factual stories of Baba and not His divine teachings accompanied by Baba stories. In result, people are not getting His dharmic teachings, unfortunately.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

As a case in point: All around India, in their houses, some margiis have images of countless Hindu deities on their puja table along with Baba’s photo. And they light the ritualistic lamps of those religious deities and they also light ritualistic lamps instead of doing sadhana. Instead of being sincere in Ananda Marga sadhana, they have committed themselves to those fruitless religious rituals, which Baba condemns in His ideological teachings.

Here the point is that along with recounting a Baba story, Ananda Marga ideology should be taught. Sadly, those promoting and sharing Baba stories are not including His ideological teachings with it. And that is the problem: the people suffer at the hands of dogma..

Are factual Baba stories useless?

The question arises: Really are all these factual Baba stories useless? The answer is that these factual Baba stories can be told but only in association with dharmic teachings. The story should be accompanied by an analysis of what the real story means on the philosophical level, and how one can instill that dharmic teaching in their own practical life.

All-knowing Baba warned that His teachings and ideology should be propagated - not just factual stories of His greatness and glory in place of AM teachings etc. Sadly, nowadays, there are some in Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha who are not aware of Sadguru Baba’s warning and guideline.

What is an example of a factual Baba story? There are numerous stories that are propagated where Baba touched a sadhaka and that person was automatically fully cured of their debilitating disease. Or Baba touched His stick and the cancer was all gone from a severe patient. These are some of our factual Baba stories. But verily every religion has such types of stories, although surely their stories are mere myths, i.e. untrue. But all religions have countless mythical stories - even wildly outlandish tales. And although their stories are just outlandish myths and not factually correct, but their followers fully believe those stories to be accurate and true. So by our Baba stories alone, we cannot impress them and bring those followers into Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Whereas if a given factual Baba story is appended with ideological teachings that comprehensively and conclusively unearth the why, where, how, and what behind those factual Babga stories, then that is quite meaningful. The common people will be spared so much suffering. Telling a story under such conditions holds a lot of value. But if that rigorous ideological examination is not present, just telling the story by itself is not enough. And the people face numerous troubles.

So there has to be a proper ideological explanation that accompanies each and every factual Baba story. The relevant philosophical explanations should be given such as: How samskara theory works, what are cakras, the science of rebirth etc. Depending on the story, the appropriate teaching and scriptural references should be presented. If all such explanations are present then that makes telling the story meaningful. In that case, the story holds great value as people will not just hear a story but learn the ideology as well.

Conclusion

With regards to the various religions and magical tales etc, we have to examine how this is operating. For example, in the Hindu religion, the monkey god is completely mythical but those followers really believe that the monkey god has all the occult powers and goes everywhere by flying like a bird from point A to point B etc. Although this is obviously mythical, those religious believers hold it to be real. In that case how can we convince or inspire them by telling them our factual Baba stories and tales when their fictitious stories are so much more dramatic. That is why it is highly needed to always propagate the ideology along with the factual Baba story - not just the story alone, undressed. That will be very convincing and produce the desired effect. By this way the society will be able to follow those teachings and get the benefits.

Namaskar,
At His lotus feet,
Prabhu Deva

Buddha’s teachings also lost

Likewise Lord Buddha arrived on this earth, performed dharma sadhana, and preached his doctrine of not slaughtering animals. But after his death, his followers merely shared magical tales of Him. They did not propagate Buddha’s teachings or ideals. Buddha’s teachings were cast aside. Lacking proper guidelines, the common people fell into woe and started doing the exact opposite of what Buddha preached. They began eating meat and doing idol worship. And now we see those followers are mostly meat-eaters and worshipers of the idols of Buddha. Instead of being benefited by Buddha’s teachings, those teachings were lost and the people suffered.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

This same cycle has repeated itself so many times with respect to Kabir, Caetanya Mahaprabhu, and countless other rsis (risis) and sages. They preached a dharmic message that was forgotten after their death. All that was left was magical tales of their greatness - not any moral or righteous teaching. In the absence of any proper guideline, in their day to day life, the people faced so much hardship and went against the very tenets of those rsis and sages. And now just idol worship is done. Their dharmic message was forgotten, and the people faced innumerable troubles and tortures. To avoid this same type of disaster, Ananda Marga ideology should be propagated. Here again we should remind ourselves of Baba's teaching.

Thus the ideology became secondary and was ultimately swept away because people started worshipping them as mahátmas [elevated souls] or mahápuruśas [spiritual beings]. Due to the absence of an ideology a strong society could not be established, and many defects crept into individual life." (2)

Filled with divine songs

“Phuler vane bhomorá elo, hat́hát keno ke jáne, ke jáne go ke jáne…” (Prabhat Samgiita #0670)

Purport:

Oh, who knows why the bumblebee has suddenly come into my floral garden? Who knows? It sits on the petals of the beautifully coloured flowers, surrounded by leaves of all colours - buzzing around from one blossom to the next. That bumble bee flies around according to its own wish and fancy; it does not pay heed to any rules or restrictions. It just goes wherever it likes.

That is why, today, I see so much joy and happiness in my floral garden. The soft, sweet breeze is filled with divine love songs, and the flowers of my garden all want the bumble bee to come buzzing near them, whispering the divine, loving tale, and flying away with that floral nectar to all places - spreading it everywhere.

There is no obstacle in this forward march; the devotional heart dances in perfect rhythm. The lyrics of the song are rehearsed and put to music. In every garden and wilderness, and in the secret corner of all hearts, there is an image of only one Supreme Entity. In the notes of unstirred chords and in everyone’s mind, there is the blessed, incomparable, and hallowed image of Parama Purusa…

Longing for power & post invites ruination

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Human beings take form according to the characteristics of their object of ideation...Those who have an ambition for power, are called raks'a. Suppose a man has grown old but still has an ambition for power. He thinks he should become this, he should become that, he thinks he should attain this status or that status. After death what shall this person become? He shall become raks'a-- that is raks'as'a." (1)

Note: Sadly, those running after post, power, prestige status etc will ultimately become lowly microvita. As sadhakas - as well-wishers of the humanity - we should guide and teach such persons not to crave after worldly status and degenerate themselves. It is our duty to help them. We should serve them and teach them to think about Parama Purusa - and not lust after  power, prestige, social status, post etc. This should be our approach. Thus when some of our Central Dadas and others are craving for post and power we should intervene and save them from their terrible fate. They should be taught the ways of neo-humanism, otherwise they will plunge themselves into a dark future and face so many negative consequences.

Mean thoughts make you an animal

Note: This teaching has four distinct aspects.
(a) The river of mind flows either from the mountain peaks to the valley basin or from the valley basin to the mountain peaks. It goes both directions.
(b) Human thinking has extraordinary power and works both the ways. If one’s thinking is proper then they become Parama Purusa and if one’s thinking is bad then one can be turned into stone.
(c) Most of the population has come directly from animal life. That is why they indulge the whole day in animal works: eating, drinking, procreating etc. For this reason they will return back to animal life in their next birth.
(d) As a human, if we utilise the potentiality of our thinking power we can become elevated and become one with Parama Purusa. Intelligent people progress towards life divine while foolish people degenerate and revert back to animal life due to their mean thoughts.

For more about this please read Baba’s below teaching:

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “In human society there are many people whose mentality is somewhere between that of forest primates and that of humans. Some have just evolved from animal life to that point, in the process of pratisaiṋcara; while others have reverted to that point from a more developed human level, due to their mean thoughts. If they continue to allow mean thoughts to dominate their minds, they will degenerate to the even cruder stage of inert matter, becoming bricks, stone or wood. Just as animals have no scope to elevate their thoughts or practise spirituality, similarly human beings who make their minds animal-like through animalistic thinking are unable to pursue spiritual practices. Even after receiving spiritual initiation or receiving an education, they behave like ignorant fools. But those who are by mentality undeveloped human beings, but not animals, will if they receive initiation carry on spiritual practices, and will if they receive education behave like intelligent people.” (1)

Horrendous fictitious story + 3 more

Baba
Horrendous fictitious story

Namaskar

Here is a so-called Baba story that is extremely flawed. The claim is that this account is from a demonstration that Baba gave in 1969 on spirituality. Yet we know the all-benevolent Sadguru Baba always acts according to the spirit of universal welfare and compassion. So we should all apply our sense of viveka and review the following.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Here is a key excerpt from the so-called Baba story:

"You [13-year-old boy who had terrible pain in his stomach] did not obey my order and consumed a coconut presented by the queen. As you disobeyed my instructions, I want you to leave my ashram immediately!" Thus, the poor boy [with terrible pain in his stomach] was compelled to leave the ashram. For the [13-year-old] boy, the ashram and his guruji were everything! Where would he go? By this time, the pain in his [the small boy’s] stomach had become severe. He then left the ashram premises and walked tearfully to a nearby pond. There he sat down and cried incessantly. The next day, the [13-year-old] boy died. And in his next life, [as punishment for eating the coconut] the [13-year-old boy] was reborn as a coconut tree.”

The excerpt from the so-called Baba story ends here.

Fake guru is culprit, not boy

Each and every Baba story has to stand up to the tenets of Ananda Marga ideology. In particular, the above story needs to abide by the letter and spirit of both (a) samskara theory and (b) guru-disciple relation. Here then is why we know the above story is fake.

#1: First and foremost, according to the purview of AM ideology, children are innocent and need to be guided properly. So for a petty incident like eating a coconut, an innocent boy will not be reborn as a tree, wherein he will have to undergo countless lives in the plant and animal kingdoms in order to get human life again. This runs 100% contrary to our AM samskara theory.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

#2: The real culprit in the above story is the fake guru. The young boy was living under the guru’s care so naturally it was the duty of the guru to watch over and guide the young boy. Yet instead of attending to the boy’s illness and helping him learn,, in a fit of anger and rage, the guru ruthlessly banished the boy from the ashram, causing the innocent youth to undergo terrible emotional and physical suffering - and ultimately die.

#3: According to Ananda Marga samskara theory, if this exact circumstance happened as narrated above, the so-called guru would be punished and reborn as an animal, plant, or stone.

#4: Remember, at the time of the incident, the boy was a mere 13-years-old. The fake guru failed to treat or care for the boy as he became sick. So the guru should have been punished, but instead the child was punished in the so-called Baba story. That is why the story is fake. A 13-year-old boy is just a small child. Such a petty incident should have either been ignored or used as an opportunity to patiently teach the innocent boy.

#5: The so-called guru is guilty for not treating the child who was seriously ill, and instead left him to die. This is a heinous crime. In the current times, if someone does this then they will be criminally held responsible. In any civilised country, the guru, parents, or caretaker will go to jail for life for child abuse / neglect and manslaughter / homicide.
https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

From top to bottom, it is entirely wrong to claim the above as a Baba story. We should all be aware about this and pay a keen eye toward every Baba story to ensure it is 100% consistent with AM teachings.

Conclusion

Any story that goes against the fundamentals of Ananda Marga philosophy should be treated as a bad and deceitful story. People should avoid such stories. It is the duty of margiis to reject such stories and not circulate them. Otherwise it will cause a huge philosophical catastrophe in Ananda Marga.

Some may have heard about this so-called Baba story since long back so they may have started believing it. The pitfall is that if one does not know Ananda Marga philosophy then whatever story they hear they think is fine. That is what happened to some in this instance. All in all, this so-called Baba story is harmful.

Ananda

Those eternal words

"D'a'k diye diye bolechile, jege ot'ho je a'cho ghumiye..." (Prabhat Samgiita #2773)

Note: Only those who sincerely practice the higher lessons of sahaja yoga meditation can understand this song in the depths of their heart.

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, You gave the clarion call, “Awake, arise,” to those sleeping in cimmerian darkness. Baba, You made this resounding call to those under the spell of avidya maya. They were thinking that this material world is everything. With Your divine slogan, You hastened them into action, "Awake, arise - follow the path of bliss." Your voice saturated the sky, air, shade beneath the tree, and the desert. It resonated from the dust of the earth to the top of the mountain, from the height of the hills to the bottom of the ocean, from the burning desert to the snow-filled peaks - everywhere. To all corners, Your words resounded, “O’ sleeping people, awake, arise.”

Parama Purusa, Your dharmic message vibrated throughout the midday, hot deserts. And that tantric inspiration reached to the cold, dry sand of the dawn, as well as to the green vegetation in the forest, and across the seas, mountain tops, and marsh lands. Those eternal words reached to the depths of the heart, and even swayed the decorated flower in the braids of hair. It echoed in all the ten directions - everywhere. Baba, You gave the clarion call, “Awake, arise, follow the path of spirituality” to those sleeping in deep darkness.

Parama Purusa, Your timeless message of sadhana service and sacrifice is carrying the nectar of the river of supreme love. It flowed along the horizon, towards the eastern sunrise, and spread into the red hue of evening sun also. Baba, Parama Purusa, Your grand guideline has touched every iota of creation, and transformed everything from staticity to divinity. You gave the loving command, “Awake, arise,” to those bound by dark slumber. Your clarion call resounds, “O’ human being! Shake off all lethargy and follow the path of sublime spirituality...."

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #2773:

When the exquisite vibration of Parama Purusa touches the bhakta’s heart then it feels like Parama Purusa is directly calling the bhakta with His own voice. These below passages from Ananda Marga ideological discourses echo the theme of the above Prabhat Samgiita - wherein His clarion call is resounding everywhere.

[1] Ananda Marga ideology states, “The devotees say that Parama Puruśa is an embodiment of love. They say that out of His infinite love for the microcosms He eternally plays His sweet flute, vibrating this vast universe with its divine sound. When spiritual aspirants attain a certain degree of spiritual progress, they are able to hear that eternal sound. This sound is called oṋḿkára. All the sound waves of this universe have their source in Him. They emanate from the point of beginninglessness to the point of endlessness, and will continue to emanate eternally.”

“The kulakuńd́alinii shakti (serpentine power) rises upwards in accordance with the divine sound. As it rises through successively higher stages one hears the sound of crickets, ankle bells and the melodious sound of the flute. This is called the sweet sound of Krśńa’s flute. It is neither a dream nor a fantasy. All of you will hear it one day. A mystic poet said,”

Chut́e ye jan bánshiir t́áne
Se ki tákáy pather páne

“For those who listen to that melodious flute sound, nothing is an obstacle. They will move irresistibly towards the Supreme.” (1)

[#2] Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Ignoring all the obstacles on the way, you must rush towards the real destination-- Parama Purus'a. His sweet call rushes towards you since eternity. Can you disregard that Supreme call and keep yourself engrossed in the petty world created by Ma'ya'?" (2)

[#3] Ananda Marga ideology says, "From time immemorial you have been listening to the sweetness of His divine call. Can you remain oblivious to it, engrossed in your little world created by Ma'ya'?" (3)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "With cosmic ideation set out from the starting point of moralism and advance towards supreme realization. Your feet may bleed, cut by the thorns scattered on the road, the sky, rent asunder by the lightning and crashing thunder of the fearful storm, may fall on your head, but proceed you must. You are a born fighter, To flee the battle in fear and hide like a corpse in the hills is ultravirous to your existential vitality. You must advance towards the Supreme Entity, your original abode, smashing all obstacles on the path." (4)

[#4] Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "O' human beings, you are fortunate. The clarion call of the Universal has reached you. Not only has the call come, but you are hearing it and it is vibrating in every cell of your body. Will you now lie in the corner of your house as an inert being and waste your time by clinging to old skeletons and bemoaning them? The Supreme Being is calling you in the roar of the ocean, in the thunder of the clouds, in the speed of lightning, in the meteor's flaming fires. Nothing good will come from idleness. Get up and awake the clouded chivalry of your dormant youth. It may be that the path is not strewn with flowers and that inferiority complex will be attempting to hold fast your each advancing step, but even then you have to proceed onwards tearing the shroud of darkness. You will tear the thick darkness of despair as you advance in the racing chariot radiant with the Sun's brilliance towards the attainment of the Supreme state." (5)

[#5] Ananda Marga ideology teaches us, "In the crimson rays of the early dawn floats the trumpet sound from the distant blue void. The call resounds: Arise, awake and waste no time in sleep. Tear off the fog of dogma and march on smashing under your feet the sky-kissing challenges of the rocky mountains. Remember that victory does not come by itself. Victory has to be invited and welcomed with sweat, the warmth of the blood and the fiery flames of hard labour. The task you have undertaken has to be brought to its consummation. When the mission is noble victory is sure to come. So do not sit inert wasting your valuable time. Be ready to give a fitting response to the clarion call of the cosmos. Be ready from this very moment." (6)

Marriage between males and females not same sex

Note: In His below teaching, Baba is discussing the history of marriage and guides us that marital relations are between a male and a female. Baba does not mention any other type of arrangement, such as relations between the same sex, either female and female or male and male. Thus, no Ananda Margii should get swept up in the wave of same sex marriage that is happening in the west. Every Ananda Marga should hold firm to Guru’s teachings and adhere to the dharmic tenet that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “To slay the disarmed, to slaughter women, children or old people, to murder those who had surrendered or to kill those running away for their lives from a fight went against the grain of kśatriya conscience. In essence, the valour of the kśatriyas was instrumental in their surpassing the animal stratum as they learnt to understand human values. It was this sense of values that raised conjugal and domestic life to human standard to a great extent. Instead of conjugal relations being limited to the status of enjoyer and the enjoyed, they began to contain a sense of duty. With the establishment of conjugal relationships a sense of duty awakened in the father towards his children. Consequently, as soon as the responsibilities of mothers lessened to some extent, women became dependent on men for their food and clothes, particularly during the period of pregnancy and during the post-delivery period. As a result, married couples, though belonging to the same group, began to emerge in previously male-centred households. As families were male-centred, male-dominated groups became evident and clan mothers lost their previous authority.” (1)
