Mahaprayan of Dada

Baba

Mahaprayan of Dada

Namaskar,

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the mahaprayan of Acarya Akhyananda Avt. Dada ji underwent his mahaprayan today 9th May 2018 in the mid-morning IST. Dada Akhyananda was suffering from liver cancer the last three years which led to his mahaprayan.

Dada Akhyananda served in AMPS for many years and was dedicated to the welfare of humanity. Dadaji was a homeopathic doctor who held clinic hours from morning til night helping those in need. In addition, he was the PA to PP Shraddhananda and was present during the Patna margiis protest. And verily Ac Akhyananda had a long and successful career and he will be well remembered for his simplicity and dutiful nature.

With his mahaprayan, Acarya Akhyananda Avt will be greatly missed by so many. May we all take solace in the fact that our dear Dada ji was a bhakta of Sadguru Baba. Certainly he will attain mukti or moksa, accordingly. Baba will lovingly bestow His infinite grace.

at His lotus feet,
Kalicharan Mukherjee

~ In-depth study ~

We have seen that when somebody dies then in offering their condolences people say now Mr So-and-so is sitting on Baba's lap. On other occasions when telling a Baba story people also say, "Such and such person sat on Baba's lap." But these days the trend is that "sitting on Baba's lap" is used more in connection with death. And that causes some confusion in reader's mind. To unknot the situation please read below.

Dogma: if "on Baba's lap" only used for death

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:
- "May Parama Purusa Baba accept her in HIS divine lap"

- "May his soul rest in the lap of our beloved BABA"

- "Now she is taking rest in Baba's Lap."

- "May Baba accept him in HIS divine lap....."

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in Bábá's loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in peace taking shelter in Baba's lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

- "We all collectively pray to Baba to take him on Baba's divine lap forever.”
All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. These days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's intimate spiritual experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their inner feelings of bhakti. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

Baba story: "sitting on Baba's lap"

Some time ago after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba. He said, "After being lovingly scolded by Baba for my wrongdoings, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his factual and historical event, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries. Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this. The new sadhaka sensed that something was wrong He said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if in order to sit on Baba’s lap one has to die. But that is false. Sincere sadhakas regularly sit on Baba’s lap in their meditation. It is His grace. It is just like a child need not die in order to sit on his father’s lap.

The idea is that this phrase - Baba's lap - has been linked with death due to extreme overuse. So for some time if sadhakas use this phrase exclusively for spiritual purposes, that will be best. The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its pure spiritual quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

Baba would bless bhaktas and place them on His lap

There are tens of thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap. People should understand the deeply mystical value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and sadhana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply intimate experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a spiritual practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in sadhana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.

"Mahaprayan" means death of mortals - confirm for yourself
from the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary

Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in our Bengal to describe the death of any human being, even ordinary people. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily term of bhakti to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no bhaktas ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

Here it should be known that the convention of an annual death day ceremony (i.e. shraddhainjali or mahaprayan) is a foundation of the Islamic tradition. Muslims are well known for this, and their approach of an annual death day ceremony was adopted by the leader of a particular group in AMPS. So no one should think that mahaprayan is some type of sacred event. It is done on the death day anniversary of Muslims.

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary 3rd edition on page 848. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it is used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens. And that is the case in this letter also. The term mahaprayan means death and this is the ideal term for this purpose.

Mahaprayan is only for humans not for Sadguru

Here it should be qualified that there is both real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being, just like the aforesaid news. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Sadguru Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa. Those doing mahaprayan for Sadguru are hypocrites. On the one side in meditation they ask His grace thinking that He is ever-present, and on the other side they think that Baba has passed way. That is their hypocrisy.

Those confused about core issue of life + 3 more

Baba

Those confused about core issue of life

Namaskar,

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Some people say, "Keep on doing good deeds – that is sufficient." No, that is not enough. Suppose some people perform good deeds, but they have no definite goal before them: this will not produce any good result, their effort will be futile. Suppose you want to move forward: you should also know which way to move, otherwise your entire movement will be meaningless. All your time, your hard effort, and your sincerity will go in vain. Hence it is not enough to simply say, "Keep on doing good deeds." Even those good deeds should have a clear goal. Why should I do good deeds? I should have a clear idea in which direction to move while doing those good deeds." (1)

Note: In the general society, or some even in our Marga there are some who think that doing good deeds is enough – as if that is the height of human understanding and expression. They think that there is no need for spiritual practice or sadhana or dharma. Just one should do as many good deeds as possible. This is one common mentality found amongst confused people etc.

Ananda Marga ideology says that doing good deeds alone is not enough – rather it is an inherently faulty and futile approach. One must have a goal for all one’s actions, and that goal must be spiritual. One should do each and every thing to please Parama Purusa.

They will give up their service work the moment they are confronted

So those who simply perform good deeds without having any higher goal invariably bind themselves. Either they are bound up in the reaction of their good actions, or they are bound by their own petty satisfaction for having performed a "good deed". And they will give up their service work the moment they are confronted with a tough situation.

"...Now, if one wants to do some good deed excluding Paramátmá that may or may not be a good deed. This will be sheer selfishness on your part, and nothing good can come from it. This is why great and realized people not only perform good deeds, but they also do something more than that." (2)

"To realize Parama Puruśa, one will have to come in contact with a Sadguru, a competent spiritual preceptor; for such persons alone can impart suitable lessons regarding spiritual practice. Through the study of books, one can never attain or realize the Supreme Consciousness."

If the child is very ugly and mentally deficient then

Or consider this…

Those who do not have Parama Purusa as their Goal and do social service for their own, personal self-satisfaction will give up the work the moment they are confronted with a tough situation. The moment they no longer derive the personal satisfaction they seek they will halt their “service” work. Suppose one has to serve a leper and one day. If the person is doing this to please Parama Purusa they they will think it is their duty to serve and they will serve the leper whether they get personal satisfaction or not. Whereas if one thinks that “this service work of for making me happy” then they will stop the work if it does not make them happy. Plus, when doing the work most often they are unable to keep the patient’s welfare in mind.

For instance, "Shyam" is serving a beautiful, destitute child and indeed Shyam is happy to help that child. But if the child is very ugly and mentally deficient then Shyam may not feel joy helping that child, in which case they may give up their service work. Because they are not deriving any self-satisfaction from it. Whereas if the aim is to please Parama Purusa, then there is no issue whether the child is beautiful or ugly.

Again...

"To realize Parama Puruśa, one will have to come in contact with a Sadguru, a competent spiritual preceptor; for such persons alone can impart suitable lessons regarding spiritual practice. Through the study of books, one can never attain or realize the Supreme Consciousness." (3)

Namaskar,

Mahesh

In no stratum of life should you allow the standard
of honesty to deteriorate -
Ananda Vanii #54

“The most valuable treasures on the path of human progress are honesty, simplicity and spiritedness. In no stratum of life should you allow the standard of honesty to deteriorate. In no situation, except during the struggle for Dharma, should you indulge in diplomacy or duplicity. In other words you must keep yourself straight in all other strata just as in Sastáuṋga Prańáma, and remain vigilant that the fire of your spiritedness is under no circumstances buried beneath a heap of ashes.”

Note 1: This Ananda Vanii is extremely misused. For example when thieves do a burglary they use this vanii and justify that they are involved in the struggle for dharma. And when group organisers go against neo-humanism and form their groups then they console themselves that they are playing diplomacy for dharma. Even murderers use this for their work - murdering for dharma. Because of the severe twisting of the teaching contained in this vanii, such persons get severely punished by nature. So everyone should be aware.

Note 2: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis which are fabricated by most of the groups - H, B etc.

O' Parama Purusa, my hands are always busy in work;
but, my mind is at Your lotus feet

Prabhat Samgiita Intro: Just like a small child who lovingly and sweetly complains to its mother, in the same manner here the bhakta is lovingly placing his complaint before Parama Purusa - the nearest and dearest One. This type of very close and intimate relation is characterized by tremendous sweetness and love. That is what is depicted in this song.

Above average devotion is needed to understand this song. This type of feeling develops when one’s sadhana is of a very high standard - by His grace. Those with lower sadhana will not understand this song. Strong devotion is needed and when that is present then the feelings expressed in this song are very natural.

In contrast, if that mind-set is not there - if one is not experiencing high sadhana - then one will think the feelings expressed in this song are odd or peculiar. It is just like when a child is young then it has tremendous degree of love for the mother and will cry when she is not present. As the one ages though that degree of love steadily declines such that older children will think it is strange how a young child is crying for its mother. Because that older child does not have that high degree of love for mother. Similarly, to understand this song, above average devotion for the Parama Purusa is needed.

This type of devotion is not just some theoretical notion. In Ananda Marga there are many sadhakas who have this feeling in their practical life - even today. They are fortunate; their life has become successful. Because this type of ardent love towards Parama Purusa is devotion. And when one has devotion one has everything. There is nothing left to gain. With devotion surely one is going to attain Parama Purusa, by His grace. It just depends upon the degree of one’s sincerity.

What to speak of a sadhaka, if an ordinary, or even a degraded person, does sadhana sincerely, and from the deep core of their heart they request, “O’ Parama Purusa, I want nothing else, please grace me with the highest devotion”, then the afore-described deep devotional love will quickly develop, by His grace.

The following Prabhat Samgiita composition carries this idea. Yet, those not practicing anudhyana properly cannot really understand this song, unfortunately.

"Jeo ná ogo prabhu, anek kathá áche bákii..."  - Prabhat Samgiita #683

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, O' Prabhu please do not go away. Please remain with me - I have many a tale to tell You. Please come to my home. Please understand this unique opportunity: I am all alone in the house. Nobody is here, so please come back. We will share our heart together.

O' prabhu,  Baba, in pleasure and pain, during both negative and positive situations, all the time I am calling You. And always I am remembering Your name. During all the 24 hours, whatever I do, my hands are always busy in work; but, my mind is at Your lotus feet. I remember You; it is Your grace. Even if I risk losing everything I want You to my heart's content.

O' Parama Purusa,  by Your keeping me distant, I am suffering. You never console me, nor do You give me happiness - only You keep me in pitch darkness.  Baba, I do not want anything from You, only this much I want: That You please come close and become my own. The doors & windows of my mind are always open in longing for You, waiting for Your arrival. I don’t have any other thought in my mind. With a pin-pointed mind I am calling You.

Baba, my Lord, please do not go away leaving me deserted. Always remain in my heart...

Why Affirmative action is bad

Baba

Why Affirmative action is bad

Namaskar,

According to Shrii PR Sarkar - the Propounder of Prout philosophy - wherever a section of society gets special privileges and benefits on the basis of caste, gender, race, and creed then that will severely threaten unity. The reason is that instead of the entire collective body living arm-in-arm according to the same rules and procedures, there is mounting tension between various human groups because one particular group is getting special advantages. Across history and throughout the present-day society, there are numerous examples.

~ Courtesy of Wikipedia ~

"Affirmative action, also known as reservation in India and Nepal, positive action in the UK, and employment equity (in a narrower context) in Canada and South Africa, is the policy of protecting members of groups that are known to have previously suffered from discrimination." (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Prout philosophy states, "Caste is another important factor which disrupts society. The evils of the caste system are nowhere better known than in India. For unity in society, there should not be any small groupings within the society claiming economic and social privileges." (1)

For instance, in Israel the ultra-orthodox Jews have been receiving special financial benefits in the form of welfare bonuses. The rules for them are different. This has led to resentment, protests, and heated debates within Israeli society - and unity has been hampered.

Preferential treatment leads to riots between members of society

We see similar effects in the Indian so-called caste system where harijains (dalits) are scheduled castes and have been granted special privileges in the form of economic gifts and job quotas, irrespective of financial need. That means even if there is a so-called harijan who is above average in income then still that “harijan” will be given special economic benefits from the central government, whereas a beggar from a so-called higher caste will not receive economic support from the state. That type of preferential treatment / Affirmative action / reservation on thebasis of caste, gender, race, and creed == leads to strained relations, hatred, and even riots between members of society.

In contrast, if on an economic basis, financially impoverished people are getting monetary support from the central government or state, then that is supported by Prout.

In today's AMPS to enter the "inner cabinet" and highest decision making body of the various groups, they each have their own special requirements. Some groups demand that one should be of a so-called higher so-called caste, while other groups require birth in a certain geographical region etc. In result, tensions rise and the lines are drawn. Under such circumstances, unity can never be achieved. Because there cannot be special rights based on one's birth or social status.
http://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Proutistic guideline: "For unity in society, there should not be any small groupings within the society claiming economic and social privileges." (2)

In Him,
Prem Ananda

So-called caste based quotas India

~ Courtesy of The New York Times ~

"The Supreme Court of India has repeatedly tried to curtail the scope of caste quotas, but the Parliament has passed amendments in response to protect and even expand them. The court has ruled that quotas should not exceed 50 percent of university admissions, but Tamil Nadu has ignored this restriction and a case challenging the state’s larger quota has been pending since 1994. In an interview,India’s law minister and minister for minority affairs, said that wealthy beneficiaries of caste quotas should acknowledge that they no longer need set-asides and voluntarily bow out of the system." (Courtesy of the New York Times)

Even monkeys want their fair share

What to say about human beings, even monkeys want their fair share. It is ingrained within even the earliest stages of human evolution. So whenever there is injustice in the unit family, organisation, or society at-large, chaos results. When one group exploits another group that lights the fire of extreme social unrest. To achieve unity in our Ananda Marga special privilege must not be given to any persons or group etc. This is a key point. Nowadays, there are privileges and hence rampant disunity.

Prout philosophy states, "For unity in society, there should not be any small groupings within the society claiming economic and social privileges." (3)

Quiz

Baba

Quiz

Intro: Kindly read the below quote from Baba's teachings. At the end of the quote a question has been posed. If your answer to the question is correct then it means you read Baba's books carefully; and, if your answer is wrong or you do not know the answer, then it signifies that you need to pay more attention when reading Guru's teachings. After all, if sadhakas are not diligent in studying Baba's books then who is going to read them - non-margiis?

They have converted them into owls of darkness:
Inevitable outcome of those pseudo-philosophies

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "They have taught people to view each other with suspicion. By restricting social welfare activities to their community, they have kept the rest of the people in the dark about the true state of affairs. They have not let the people know whether they were actually the promoters or detractors of human welfare. By raising an iron curtain, a veil of dark ignorance, before them, they have taught people to chatter a few chosen, tutored sentences. They have confined them within a small dungeon, with its doors and windows locked – they have converted them into owls of darkness. This is the inevitable outcome of those pseudo-philosophies." (1)

Quiz: Who is Baba referring to in the above quote?

Most probably, as an Ananda Margii, you know what the answer is. However to fully satisfy your curiosity and get the complete answer, kindly read below.

--

Answer: About those pseudo-philosophies

Answer: In His above teaching, Baba is primarily referring to communists - they keep the common people in a dark state of repression and oppression. There is no scope to see things in the light of day - everything is hidden under cloak of darkness. The free and open exchange of ideas is not permitted. The media is wholly controlled by the state and the people have no idea what is happening in the world around them. Only they know the spoon-fed slogans given by those communist leaders.

Answer: In His above teaching, Baba is also referring to some dogmatic religions like Islam, Mormonism, the Amish, Christianity, Judaism and other religious bodies also adhere to this type of censorship where the people are forced to blindly follow their religious codes, without question or reason. Basically wherever the priest, or mullah etc is leveraging tremendous control over their community and not allowing open discussions, then that is also applicable here.

First and foremost however, this teaching is a reference to communism and an indirect reference to the organised religions like Islam, Mormonism, the Amish, Christianity, Judaism, or any organised religion, and those exploitative communist leaders.
