Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Naturopaths do not believe in using medicine. They think that it is possible to cure patients through the gifts of nature only – through earth, water, light, heat and air, together with a proper diet." (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Since ancient times many non-human creatures have considered fasting or deliberate abstinence from food as their natural medicine. You will notice that dogs and certain other animals abstain from eating if they feel a little ill. You also often do not feel like eating when you feel somewhat physically out of sorts. Some contemporary physicians advise their patients, and even pressure them, to eat even when they do not have any appetite. This, however, goes against the laws of nature. It is natural for a sick creature to feel an aversion for food, unless they suffer from the disease of overeating. By not eating, certain organs of the body enjoy a temporary rest. As a result, after the fast the organs are rejuvenated and reenergized and a feeling of wellbeing returns to the physical body. So not only in the case of prehistoric humans, in the case of the prehistoric animals as well, the ancient, pure and chief medicine was fasting or voluntary abstention from food." (2)

Naturopathy & elements: light, air, earth, water etc

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "Sunlight and air: There are many healing elements in sunlight. The rays or pencils of rays of different colours in sunlight are medicines for different kinds of diseases – preventive and antidotal. Sunlight has different benefits during different hours of the day. Sun-warmed water also has different kinds of benefits. Thus sunlight has been regarded since ancient times as medicines for different bodily ailments. It is also said in the Vedas: súryah yathá sarvalokasya cakśuh [as the sun is the eye of the entire universe]. The medicine, that is, sunlight should be taken in through the dorsal spine, not through the chest or the abdomen."

"The pure air of a secluded place is also an excellent medicine for the physical body. This medicine in the form of air should be taken through the back of the head and the upper part of the forehead. The earth from a riverside area near a forest in which there is a small amount of sand and a large amount of soil is also an excellent medicine for the physical body. This medicine should be taken bare-bodied on a bed of earth."

"Water: Odorless, tepid water, especially if it is sun-warmed, is an excellent medicine for the physical body. It has great healing qualities. Since ancient times, knowingly or unknowingly, human beings and different animals have also accepted water as one of their medicines. It is also said in the Vedas: ápashca vishvabheśajii [and water is a universal medicine]." (3)

Distinct limitation of naturopathy

Ultimately, Baba guides us that relying exclusively on naturopathy can be limiting and incomplete.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Naturopaths do not believe in using medicine. They think that it is possible to cure patients through the gifts of nature only – through earth, water, light, heat and air, together with a proper diet. I do not deny that this is possible, but it is also often difficult to gradually and completely attune the body to nature." (4)

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "People should recognize that medicine does not cure disease, rather nature cures disease with the help of the body's own healing power. Medicine only helps to accelerate the activity and speed of the healing process." (5)

Here again, Baba does not support the naturopathic model where no medicines are ever administered. Baba clearly appreciates the application of medicine when needed.

Weakness in allopathic, ayurvedic, & hakimi systems

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Is it not simply guesswork to prescribe medicines for a particular disease when the medicine is prescribed for the disease but the disease is diagnosed according to the bodily constituents?" (6)

Ananda Marga philosophy states "The welfare of the patient should be the main aim of the medical profession, regardless of the philosophical or logical ramifications of a particular system of medicine. Doctors may find it somewhat difficult to work with such a principle, because it is unreasonable to expect them to be experts in all the medical systems. In reality, it is highly unlikely. Nevertheless, what is not possible in a doctor's chambers may be possible in a hospital." (7)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "In the hospitals of some countries the welfare of the patient is given top priority and the patient is treated accordingly. Immediately after being admitted, he or she is thoroughly examined by an appropriate board of doctors who determine the most suitable system of medical treatment. In other words, if the patient's disease can be easily cured by allopathy, he or she will be treated by an allopath; if by homoeopathy, by a homoeopath; if by naturopathy, by a naturopath; and so on. If various types of treatment are available, changing from one type to another will not be difficult in the event of the patient not responding to a particular type of treatment." (8)

Ananda Marga: every pathy under one roof

According to Ananda Marga philosophy, the most rational approach with respect to medical care is for all the pathys to exist under one roof. Patients should be evaluated on a case by case basis and then directed to the right avenue of treatment. Each medical pathy has its speciality and ethic. The goal is to cure the patient, regardless of the pathy involved. Using multiple pathys is also quite appropriate. For instance allopathic surgery combined with homeopathic medicine might be the ideal way to treat a particular patient. The end point should be the patient's welfare - not which pathy is used.

Allopathic medicines create many new diseases

Ananda Marga philosophy states:
“Disease is caused by negative microvita. When people take allopathic medicine to cure a disease, the medicine disturbs the ecological balance of the body because more negative microvita get concentrated at the point of the disease. Allopathic medicines do not kill diseases – diseases die by their own natural death. Although the medicine may check the disease, the increased concentration of negative microvita can overcome the effect of the medicine. In fact, the increased concentration of negative microvita caused by allopathic medicines creates many new types of diseases, and due to this, two or three new diseases are presently being created every decade.”

“So what is the solution to this problem? Our approach should be two fold – external and internal. Externally we should take medicines to check diseases, but internally we should perform spiritual practices to increase the concentration of positive microvita and thereby kill the negative microvita.”

“Today medical science has reached a threshold point. People know the specific medicines exist for certain diseases, so if they get sick they take these patented medicines. Consequently the role of doctors has diminished. Now medical science is at the top of a declining slope, and except for surgery it has lost its importance for ordinary people. Only microvita theory can overcome this situation.”

“In homoeopathy also the need for doctors is not so great because all the medicines are mentioned in books. If people feel the need for some medicine they can easily prescribe for themselves. Homoeopathy should embrace surgery, and if this is done it will be good for the all-round welfare of the people.” (10)

Basic necessity: curing disease

The human personality is three-fold: Physical, psychic, and spiritual. We have to keep all realms in proper condition and well-maintained.

However, there is an inherent challenge neatly outlined in this Sanskrit / Samskrta proverb:

"Sariram vya'dhi mandiram".

'Where there is a body, disease comes'.

In other words, the body is prone to disease. At any moment, diseases may manifest. In that case, it is our duty to cure that disease in a safe and healthy manner.

Related teachings on health issues

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "The value of the principle shama samaḿ shamayati [similia similibus curantue – “like cures like”)] has been understood by human beings since the age of the Mahábhárata, but it was Hahnemann who brought it to the scientific level through his system of homeopathy. People realized the value of this principle during the Mahábhárata age from the poison treatment of the poisoned Bhiima. There were considerable advances in Ayurveda in poison research, especially with snake, scorpion, spider and hornet poisons." (11)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "In homeopathy whose principle is "Samah samam shamayati" (like cures like), the disease is not treated, but the symptom of the disease is treated. No matter whether the disease is diarrhea or malaria, the symptom is treated and not the disease. Moreover, the medicine is applied in a subtle form. It is theorized that the subtle affects the crude, hence subtle medicine is applied to cure the crude disease. The more subtle the medicine, the more effective the result on the crude disease." (12)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The principles, application and philosophy of homeopathy are completely different from [other] medical treatments. Homeopathy treats the symptoms of the patient, not the disease or its symptoms. So there is very little possibility of causing harm, even if the diagnosis is not quite correct. A doctor with good powers of observation and a subtle sense of discrimination can easily prescribe remedies according to the patient's symptoms." (13)

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "Nowadays, in those cases where there is difficulty getting the desired effect by swallowing the medicine or ingesting it in some other way, or where the effect is delayed, the system of introducing the medicine into the body through injection is widely prevalent. If anything is injected into the body through a needle it is called súcikábharańa. Súcikábharańa existed in Ayurveda in ancient times to a small extent, but this science could not advance much in those days, chiefly due to the influence of certain superstitions among the people at that time. They did not want to allow anything into their bodies through injection, so this science remained unappreciated. Nowadays it is possible to save the patient’s life with injections in the case of diseases that are difficult to cure or treat, or in the case of life-threatening disease. Thankfully, modern practitioners of Ayurveda and Homeopathy, willingly or unwillingly, have accepted the use of needles and themselves use them." (14)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Homeopathy should embrace surgery, and if this is done it will be good for the all-round welfare of the people." (15)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, Your supreme liila is unimaginable and endless. It does not have any beginning or end: You go on playing your cosmic play in so many ways, ceaselessly. You have created soft, tender flowers full of fragrance and nectar, and decorated the sky with the shining cool moon. In Your creation, You did not leave any place unattended to or uncared for. Everything is full of sweetness and charm. Your panoramic presentation is incomparable.

Baba, the flute of my heart was never played, and my inner core never felt any longing for You. Now, You have amazingly aroused that very dry heart by filling it with bhakti and saturating it with bliss. The flute which was never played and whose love did not blossom, You have awakened and filled that with coloured affectionate feelings of bhakti. It is Your cosmic grace. Now that very dry heart of mine is filled with bhava.   

Parama Purusa, Baba, those drowned in Cimmerian darkness and submerged in dogma were not able to recognise their real status - what they are and what they have come for. Even without their desire or asking, You awaken them with Your eternal truth. In their inner being, You poured nectar - even without their expressed desire or asking.

You have blessed one and all. Baba Your divine liila is unique and incomparable...

Outlook of true bhaktas

The next grade of bhakta says: “As Parama Puruśa knows better than me about my own needs, why should I ask Him for anything? He knows exactly what I need for my development.” A mother knows more about the needs of her child than the child itself. When the child weeps, the mother instinctively knows that the child is feeling cold, for example, and covers its body with a blanket. The child stops crying immediately. Just as the child is dependent on its mother, human beings are dependent on Parama Puruśa. That is, “I know that You will surely do what is good for me. So why should I ask You for anything? It is meaningless, as You know better than me where my best interests lie.” So the higher-grade devotees do not pray for anything. Their simple approach is, “Parama Puruśa, please do whatever You think is best for me. All I want is to give You joy through my actions. And by giving You joy I shall also get joy. I act only to please You and thereby please myself. This is my one and only desire – I have no other interest.” This is termed rágánuga bhakti. Its spirit is, “I don't want anything. I only want to do Your work. I want to get joy by doing Your work, by loving You, by making You happy.” (1)

Historical battle: materialists vs religious heads

Ananda Marga ideology states, “On deeper analysis we find that the Charvaka and other schools of materialistic philosophy propagated certain doctrines which were more a revolt against the prevailing religions than an expression of a rational and benevolent outlook. They protested loudly against the clergy or religious traders who composed the so-called scriptures in the name of dharma (in fact it was not dharma, but religion); who took advantage of the fear psychosis, in the name of god, to ruthlessly exploit society. The Charvaka and other materialistic philosophies were motivated to strike against religious exploiters. They were fully aware of the way the vested interests exploited society, and they knew that nobody had the right to deprive others of their properties, since every thing of this earth is the common patrimony of all, yet they did not endeavour to lead humans along the path of rationality or formulate a healthy social and spiritual ideology.” (1)

Ananda Marga ideology states, “The reason for this was that they lacked convincing arguments to stand against the sharp intellect of the vested interests [religious exploiters]. Thus, they merely attempted to negate the fundamental tenets of the vested interests [religious exploiters], often with rather abusive language. Due to the weakness of their argumentation it was easy for the vested interests [religious exploiters] to emerge and gain strength in the subsequent period.” (2)

How women’s rights diminished

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The status of women in prehistoric human society was the same as that of independent females of any living species. The women, just like the men, spent their days in the lap of nature singing, dancing, laughing and playing. These conditions continued throughout the period when there was no human society as such and continued into the matriarchal age. But when the patriarchal social system came into being, the rights of women began gradually to be curtailed.” (1)

History bears testimony that decades ago - around the globe - females did not have any rights. They were subservient to males in all respects. Females were viewed as not having the same potentialities of men - as if they were far inferior. Because of this repression and suppression, their service to society was also limited in scope. In many regions, females have since gained freedom, and people now recognise that females are not less in any way. They are comparable to men in all types of fields. Earlier they were subservient so their potential was suppressed. The key point is that freedom is important.

So when working with others one should must not suppress them, otherwise society will not benefit from their full potentialities. It is equally true in unit families as in the larger society.

Teaching kids to lie: Santa Claus & monkey god

   Ananda Marga philosophy states, “When the parents are about to go on a trip or go to a show, or when they are invited to a pleasant function or a social outing, the children may start whining or nattering to accompany them. At such times many parents tell lies without a qualm; somehow they dupe their children and leave. When the children realize what has happened, they also learn to tell lies; and to hide their intentions or their actions from their parents, they gradually start lying more and more.”
   “Parents deceive their children in many ways. By calling sweet things bitter and pleasant things unpleasant, they prevent their children from enjoying them. But by disregarding parental injunctions and prying inquisitively, as is the wont of human nature, children discover the truth. Then they realize that their parents have been deceiving them. As a result they start deceiving not only their parents, but their friends and classmates as well. So it is abundantly clear that children are taught the first lessons in the arts of lying and deception by their own parents at home.” (1)

Note: Baba’s above teaching show how lying and cheat first starts in the home - i.e. kids learn from their parents. This gets exhibited in so many ways - amongst all populations. This occurs even during the holidays and times of celebration. For instance, those from a Christian background teach their children to believe in Santa Claus - an imaginary man with a big belly and a long white beard who comes down the chimney and bring gifts to children. And when Santa Claus is not delivering gifts around the planet then he resides at the North Pole. Another example of an imaginary holiday creature is the Easter Bunny. These are both fake and fabricated entities. But for the first years of their lives, kids are naively and innocently led to believe that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real. This is taught to them first and foremost by their parents. And the children believe it wholeheartedly. These are some of their most graphic childhood memories - and yet it is all based on falsehood. Inevitably, by the age of 7, 8, 9, or 10 etc, those kids realise that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real and that they have been lied to - i.e. duped. And it is at that moment they learn how to deceive and befool others in the same manner.

Similarly Hindus befool kids by telling them tales, lies, and stories that the mythological monkey God is real. And they show them the idol to show the monkey god exists. In turn children really believe the monkey god flew from point A to point B carrying a mountain. Even after growing up, many carry this dogma their whole life.


Conclusion

(a) Before telling any story, parents should be careful not to tell anything which is false.
(b) If a child is asking a question and you do not know the answer, then do not tell them a lie. Best is to say, "I do not know. I will try and find the answer for you."
(c) The worst thing is to tell them something false. And the absolute worst is to terrorise them by saying, "Do not ask anymore questions." Small kids especially ask a lot of questions to all those who are around. That time is crucial not to shut them up. Those who shut up children stymie and stun their psychic progress.
(d) Remember inquisitiveness is the greatest thing in human life as it leads to all sorts of progress. So do not crush their inquisitiveness.

“The accumulated distortions of many lifetimes cannot be removed in the twinkling of an eye. The removal of these distortions requires prolonged cultivation of knowledge, selfless devotion and untiring action. Are you curious why the general Indian public is abandoning 'namaskar' and instead involved in 'shaking hands', or why 'using water' has been swapped out 'for wiping with toilet paper', or why 'laungotas' have become a thing of the past and 'western underwear' is now the only way to go, or why India is now importing more meat than ever before into its borders.

All these above changes-- as well as others like them by various native communities in other countries-- are fast taking place today, and have been in the making for a long while. That is the sad and unfortunate plight of so many of these previously colonised nations and subjugated peoples.

Here the point is not to only highlight India. Such transformations are also occurring with Blacks in the US, Middle-Easterners in Europe, Native Indians in Brasil, and so many others. It is happening wherever people have been made to believe that their own culture is 'lowly'. That is the reason why so many communities around the globe are departing from their traditional or cultural heritage and instead adopting lowly ways of another more dominant culture. That is why McDonald's, Levis, martinis, and just about everything western is being embraced in so many lands. Here is more about this most tragic human tale.

Countries demanding return of artifacts

It is well-known that colonial powers took away precious artifacts from various lands and now certain countries like Greece are asking for their artifacts back - as well as many of the African nations etc. This is a big issue nowadays. Plus, it was discussed that those colonial powers took those artifacts not for their monetary value, but rather because those imperialistic nations wanted to exploit those local and native people to the very bone. So those cultural artifacts must be returned to those native lands etc. This is all part of the current conversation.

Tragic effect is lasting

Actually, it is not only that those cultural artifacts should be returned. It is not just a simple case of thievery of an old artifact. Tragically, the common people from the lands of South Africa, India, Greece, Vietnam, Mexico, Nepal, Morocco, and so many places have been stripped of their cultural pride. And we see the ill effect still to this very day. Because the stealing of an artifact is only the very beginning of a long chain of events.

Just see: The main way to exploit an entire people is to first rob them of their own cultural identity and legacy, and then impose new cultural norms, i.e. those of the dominant country. Take away their history, heroes, habits, language, and customs, and then instead inject the same from the dominant land.

That will shatter the backbone of a people and cause them to fall into an inferiority complex-- such that they will openly renounce everything about their own cultural background and history, even the most positive aspects. Their language, their dress, their history, their music, their everything will be dropped into one dark chasm, and instead those oppressed and embarrassed people will run after everything associated with the more dominant but lowly lifestyle, i.e. they will embrace the ways of their exploiters. Because they have been brainwashed into being totally ashamed of their native ways.

Next step in exploitation process

The next phase is that wherever artifacts have been taken, in that land pseudo-culture has been imposed, and the people suffer from an inferiority complex, such that they are totally ashamed of who they are, and then they end up as prime targets for economic exploitation. So in any land, where people are swapping out their own cultural heritage for a lowly and debauched way of living, or the ways of a more materialistic and crude lifestyle, then it is sure that those people are getting exploited in one way or another. Baba has pointed this out in so many discourses.

Baba says, "A particular group which is motivated by socio-sentiment to exploit others, tries to destroy the local cultural expressions of other groups. It forcibly imposes its language, dress and ideas on other groups, and thus paves the way for exploitation by paralysing those people psychologically. This is how people guided by socio-sentiment perpetuate exploitation in cultural life." (1)

That is why this whole issue is not just a simple case of thievery wherein artifacts can be returned and then the whole matter is done. It is not like that. Because when certain people do not like to speak their mother tongue even in their own kitchen let alone in public, and when some people do not like the shape of their hair or the colour of their skin, and where people think that all that is good comes from outside their borders, and where people feel that the traditions from their country are of no value, then this all speaks to the point that those peoples have become ashamed of who they are. In that case, inferiority complexes and exploitation must also be nearby.

Such is the devious and harmful effect of pillaging a country of their cultural heritage and artifacts. And that is why all across the globe innocent people are chasing after Euro-American manners and ways. Because they have been brainwashed into thinking that that is the only and best way to live.

Returning the artifacts is not the only point

So it is not just that the museums of New York, Paris, London, Sydney, San Francisco, and elsewhere need only return thousands of artifacts to nations like Zaire, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Jamaica, Peru, and Greece. Rather, centuries and centuries of cultural oppression and suppression need to be undone.

Innumerable lands were forced to forget about their own cultural heroes and figures as they were wiped clean from the history, and instead they were taught to honour exploiters like Christopher Columbus, Vasco De Gama, US Presidents, Marilyn Monroe, Walt Disney, Bill Gates, Michael Jordan, Jane Fonda, and the list goes on and on.

On the surface it all may look innocent, but the undercurrents of such cultural imposition is horrific. As people have been brainwashed into thinking that their own way of living and their own history is negligible or even sub-human. And still today, in their conscious mind they are unaware that this has happened. The scar is that deep.

Further reflection: whom to blame

So it is a painful and unfortunate twist. And it is not right to think that the current events story begins and ends with the returning of artifacts to a native area. Rather those stolen artifacts were just the starting point of the demolition of entire cultures.

And it should also be known that still today those museum curators in New York, Paris, London, and Chicago have absolutely no intention of even returning the cultural artifacts to those distant lands from where they came.

Another aspect is that as we speak the younger generations in those exploited countries have no idea why they are running after western values and western ways. They are just plunged in the idea that those things are better. From nightclubs to McDonalds, from pants to neck ties, from lipstick to cartoons, from coca-cola to the English language, inside and out, the long-term effect of having their cultural artifacts stolen is stinging the youths in those lands.

The people of India, Vietnam, Mexico, Greece, Philippines, Zaire, etc are not to be blamed. It is not the fault of those colonised nations that they have fallen into this trap.

Rather those western exploiters from the US and Europe shoulder the blame. Those top politicians and executives are the cause-- not even the general public of those wealthy nations. Because this is all due to the tricks of those cunning leaders.

And one thing is also sure: That each and every member of the human race must be taught, educated, and made to understand the horrors of cultural imposition. The history should be known, the effects should be studied, and everyone should be fully cognizant of what has transpired. Failing that, the people of those lands will never rediscover their cultural heritage and such exploitation is bound to happen again and again.

Let us all remember that the current events topic of stolen artifacts is not just a simple matter of return, but, rather, a starting point for undoing centuries of cultural imposition and exploitation.

We should fortify humanity with the teachings of neo-humanism as this is the only formula for unshackling the world from centuries of cultural imposition and exploitation.

Baba says, "In that supreme neohumanistic status, the universal humanity will attain the consummation of its existence. Then nothing will be impossible for human beings; they will be able to do anything and everything." (2)

All became very close

"Tumi ele cári dik raunge bhare ut́halo, taruń tapan miśt́i hási hásalo..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0316)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, with Your arrival and advent, everything - all the directions - became inundated with resplendent colours of bhagavata dharma. The morning sun smiled sweetly; due to its beaming joy the world forgot all its agony. Because of Your coming as Mahasambhuti the whole universe is charged with spiritual vibrations.

Baba, in jubilation and delight, all became very close as everyone pulled together. It is Your grace. Today, after forgetting all sorrows, now in an exalted state bhaktas no longer feel suffering as suffering, or problems as a problem. Everything has become blissful due to Your august presence. In one tempo of spirituality, in a singular pull of the Cosmic Entity, in one song of His glory, the entire cosmos is ecstatically dancing in exultation.

My Cosmic Boatman, with a smile, receive the mind which is floating in the streams of divine refulgence; please bring that to the shore. With the attraction of the golden flash, today all are dancing rhythmically with exuberance, in euphoric ecstasy, in Your cadence & divine tempo.

Baba, in the past, people were drowned in misery - now with Your auspicious arrival everything has changed - only there is bliss....

Need of the hour: more people

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "While dharma in the true sense of the term is based on logic and the realizations of great sádhakas [spiritual aspirants], religion, or dharmamata, is based entirely on irrational blind faith. So religions are always sheltered within dogma. While the propagation of dharma goes on spontaneously, for the propagation and establishment of dogma-based religions, the financial power of the vaeshyas [capitalists] and the intellectual prowess of the vipras [intellectuals] is inevitably needed. What we observe from the history of humankind is that the religions which have come so far have, without exception, taken shelter under the wings of capitalism. While money has been spent lavishly for the construction of beautiful places of worship, money has never been arranged for food, clothing, housing, education and medical care for the welfare of the poor. While for four full years all the state revenues of Orissa were spent for the construction of the Konark temple, during that period not a penny was spent for human welfare. Needless to say, the history of all countries is replete with such examples." (1)

In His above teaching, Baba points out how in the past the dogmatic religions spent their money on material pursuits such as the construction of the Konark temple, while the common people languished in utter poverty, half-naked and hungry. A similar state of affairs has befallen our AMPS where all emphasis is on material construction rather than a man-making mission.

#1: AMPS needs human beings. 
#2: So many ashrams and MUs are empty - now AM needs human beings not buildings.
#3: Those donating to those buildings and types of construction etc are all fools.
#4: Essentially, they are preparing those sites for non-margiis.
#5: Due to lack of occupancy by AMPS others will take over those buildings; that is what happened with the ashrams of other religions.
#6: In Bihar, Kabir followers had tens of thousands of MUs, and now everything is occupied by Bhumihar.
#7: So remain alert; we need humans.

Cannot call them humans

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Human beings are animate beings, they are not animals. What is the difference between the two? Animals remain obsessed with the gratification of their crude propensities; they only try to satisfy their cruder kośas. That is why in the minds of animals, what to speak of the supreme question, even questions related to the mundane world do not arise. Human beings, however, are (and herein lies the main difference between them and animals) mind preponderant beings. They possess the capacity of subtle thought which helps them find answers to increasingly complex questions, answers which have helped them to increase their dominance over nature. The same subtle thinking power has helped humans to attain Brahma, the Source of all psychic thought, and the final answer to all queries. It is the characteristic of all animate beings to seek joy and composure. For animals, that means the fulfilment of the crude propensities, but humans, by virtue of their developed thinking power, seek the deeper joys of life through the constant perfection of the subtle branches of relative knowledge. In the process of self-abnegation they take their psychic thinking back to its Supreme Source and get established in eternal bliss. Those for whom the pursuit of the crude pleasures of life is the be-all and end-all of existence should never be categorized as human beings." (1)

Spiritual ideals should guide humanity

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Without spiritual ideals true morality based on universal love cannot be awakened. Unless God is accepted as the creator of all, human fraternity is impossible since God’s authority as the universal father is denied. Only spiritual ideals and spiritual desires can lead humanity onto the path of well-being. Universalism, cosmic ideation and cosmic bliss, unlike the material objects composed of the five fundamental factors, are not limited. Therefore, humanity should be inspired to move on the path of spirituality, or else nothing worthwhile will be achieved.” (1)
