== Simile in spiritual field ==

Namaskar,
Parama Purusa cannot be compared with anyone or anything. He is anupam and nirupama – beyond comparison. So in that sense, similes cannot be made. But that is all in the eyes of philosophy.

Bhaktas on the path of devotion have their own feeling; their heart is not satisfied by that logic. Such devotees want to glorify Parama Purusa and say something about His greatness and love. And Baba Himself approves of this approach.

Simile and glory and grandeur of Parama Purusa

Prabhat Samgiita is full of similes. So on philosophical grounds one may say He cannot be compared as He is beyond all comparison etc, but from a devotional perspective, a different angle is needed.

In thousands of discourses, Sadguru Baba has guided His devotees to use all kinds of similes. So we must live in this reality that on the one side He is beyond words, and on the other side all kinds of feelings are are shared about His glory and beauty through various similes.

Ananda Marga philosophy is itself is a kind of description of the glory and grandeur of Parama Purusa. Baba has guided His devotees to use similes.

Bhajans and kiirtan aim to say something about the Lord

So we should use similes. Normal human beings or every human being lives in a material, changing world. They know about the world but not about Parama Purusa.
So to say something about Him and to link with Him, one must go from the known to the unknown, from what is familiar to what is beyond one’s understanding. That is what Ananda Marga philosophy is.

Remember also that all our bhajans and kiirtan aim to say something about the Lord so one may link up with Him. Similes bridge the gap between the material world and Parama Purusa so they have their own place and use. So we must accept similes along with their weaknesses.

In Him,
Prakash

How all languages of the world are exactly
the same up to first four stages

In His below teaching, Sadguru guides us that there is no sense in quarreling over the point of language - i.e. which is superior or which is inferior etc. All languages have the same inherent value, and there are six stages of vocalization. That means to produce any sound or speak, there are six levels that are related with various cakras and glands. All the languages of the world are exactly the same through the first four stages.

For instance, if you are thirsty and thinking of a glass of water, then the the initial urge to express this idea of wanting a glass of water emerges in seed form in the muladhara cakra. Second, the visualization of that image - i.e. a glass of water - comes in form at the svadisthana cakra. Third, the vital energy for that expression of wanting a glass of water is aroused in the manipura cakra. Fourth, the force needed for making that vocal expression occurs at the anahata cakra. Thus up through these first four stages, all languages are the same - it is the same process for each and every language.

That means whether one is speaking Chinese, German, Swahilii, or Tamil, if one wishes to ask for a glass of water, the process and vibration is exactly the same through these first four stages. Each speaker - regardless of their language base - must conceptualize the idea, visualise their thought, have the vital energy for that expression, and cultivate the force to speak etc. This is the same for all, regardless of their language base.

Only at the fifth stage - at the vishuddha cakra - when the the sound vibration is first created in the larynx (vocal cords) do the various languages begin to differ. At that point some say water, some say panii, some say niiram, some say wasser, some say agua etc. And then finally, one speaks “I would like a glass of water” - with the help of the tongue and uvula in the sixth stage. So it is only in these last two stages, related with the actual production of sound, that the various languages differ from one another.

Thus the differences between one language and the next are quite superficial. The human desire and urge are the same throughout. It is akin to how from a medical perspective, all humans have the same set of organs that work in the same manner, yet on the outside one’s skin colour may vary. So that difference in skin tone is very superficial, as internally all human beings function medically in the same manner. Same is the case with various language groups - the inner workings of all these languages are the same.

Hence there is no sense in quarreling over the point of language - whether it be which is superior or which is inferior. Deep within, all languages are the same; there is an inner bond that unites all the languages. Just as all human beings are essentially one - originating from the same Cosmic source.

Baba's unique teaching about vocalization

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "The first stage of linguistic expression, that is, language in its potential form or seed form, lies dormant in the múládhára cakra, and it leads through successively clearer stages of manifestation to full-fledged linguistic expression. This primordial phase of linguistic expression is called paráshakti, the primordial phase of vocalization..."

"Here we are concerned with the ways of expression of language. All the potentialities of vocal expression lie dormant in the form of paráshakti at the múládhára cakra. Paráshakti is raised step by step and finally leads to the vocal expression of language."

"If vocalization remains dormant in seed form at the múládhára, it is neither audible nor perceivable in the practical world. The latent paráshakti has got to be awakened. Human beings visualize whatever they want to communicate, sometimes only for a fraction of a second, consciously or unconsciously. If they are already aware of the name and form of the visualized object, they can progress further in the process of expression, otherwise that name or form will continue to remain in the abstract world. This stage, in which one can mentally visualize what one is going to communicate, is the second stage in the process of vocalization. Its controlling point is the svádhiśt́hána cakra. The energy which causes the visualization is called pashyanti. Pashyanti is derived from the root verb drsh plus shatr, and means “that which is seeing”."

"This seeing is of two things: that which is original in the abstract world (its image is mostly indistinct) and that which is of a recurring nature in the abstract world, in other words, that which is reproduced from memory. Anubhútaviśayásampromaśah smrti. “After perceiving an object in the external world with the help of the eyes or any other external indriya, one often thinks about it.” The energy which helps one to visualize that thought is pashyanti shakti. This is the second stage of vocalization. Of course just to visualize the perceived object (with the help of pashyanti shakti) is not enough; other people cannot see your mental images or mental words, because those things belong to the psychic world. Linguistic expression pertains to the mundane world. Words are transmitted in the outer world through the medium of air or electro-magnetic waves, or some such medium. Mental images can be projected in the external world with the help of vital energy, but this sort of psychic projection is beyond the capacity of pashyanti shakti."

"Ideas in the psychic world gain momentum with the addition of vital energy. This process of coordination must be consolidated step by step before ideas can be expressed through words in the external world. The human body’s energy, or indrashakti, or luminous factor, is located in the mańipura cakra. The mańipura cakra maintains the body’s physical balance. When pashyanti shakti comes to the mańipura cakra and there receives the assistance of vital energy, it becomes madhyamá shakti. The controlling point of madhyamá shakti is the mańipura cakra or navel area.

"To externalize an idea one has to apply physical energy (philosophically, this energy is called indra). We can call this stage the first expression of the sound tanmátra. Although this sound tanmátra is not audible to the external ear because it has not yet been vocalized, it does have internal sound."

"The transformation of madhyamá shakti into the form of speech takes place at a point between the mańipura and vishuddha cakras. This is a state of calamánatá [mobility]. The force which functions between the mańipura and vishuddha cakras, trying to give vocal expression to mental ideas, is called dyotamáná."

"Dyotamáná shakti is expressed as a relentless effort to transform idea into language. If, however, in this process of transformation, the mind is affected by fear or by any other instinct, there will be only a partial or incoherent vocal expression."

In the dyotamáná stage, if the idea is not metamorphosed into a corresponding picture, or if there is any defect in the area between the mańipura and vishuddha cakras, or if there is no proper command over language, then vocal expression is bound to be affected. In such cases people are unable to give linguistic expression to things that they know. They say, “The ideas in my mind but I just can’t find the words to express it.”

"The dyotamáná stage exists in collective life, also. Ever since the dawn of human civilization, human beings have been searching for ways to fulfil their various desires: the desire to fly, the desire to move fast over land, the desire to reach the distant planets, the desire to cross the oceans. Sometimes they have succeeded, sometimes they have failed. But even after failure, they have not given up the struggle, but have persisted with renewed vigour. We are still waiting for that glorious day to arrive when we will be able to give a full and rich expression to the vast world of human thought. Today, however, we can only express a small fraction of the vast world of ideas."

"The vocal cord lies in the area of the vishuddha cakra. It is the organ responsible for transforming abstract idea into vocal expression. The energy which helps in this task is vaekharii shakti. Vaekharii shakti is the energy which causes ideas to take the form of language. It is the fifth stage in the process of vocal expression. When someone talks too much, this is the uncontrolled expression of vaekharii shakti. Some pandits, in order to prove their intellectual might through intellectual extravaganza, indulge in such unnecessary vocalization. It has been said..."

"Neither individual life nor collective life is benefited from such useless talk. Pandits may receive temporary applause but they ultimately gain nothing but a big zero."

"Even after an idea gets metamorphosed into language, if there is the slightest defect in the uvula, vocal expression will be disturbed. (The Sanskrit equivalents of “uvula” are lambiká, galashuńd́iká, and áljihvá.) Even if one articulates properly, one will not be able to speak correctly if there is any defect in the uvula."

"The energy through which the exact language is conveyed to the human ears is called shrutigocará. This is the last stage in the process of vocalization. The sound ae is the acoustic root of the six stages of vocalization: pará, pashyanti, madhyamá, dyotamáná, vaekharii, and shrutigocará." (1)

Test: who is a dharmika and who not

Ananda Marga ideology guides, "The greatest quality of a person at a meeting or debate is the capacity to convince others. The highest quality in the battlefield is 'yudhi vikramam', or valor in the battle. While in danger, one's great quality is patience." (1)

When in danger, some become paranoid and some remain patient. Depending upon their reaction, they reveal their weakness or their greatness. If when danger arrives one becomes paranoid or loses their wits, they cannot do anything - they cannot solve the problem. Rather they become a liability. Then they are not a dharmika as they are missing even the first point of dharma - i.e. dhrti  (patience).

In contrast, if when in grave danger one's rational brain is still functioning then that person is a dharmika.

Here it does not mean if someone else's house burns down and you keep calm, then you are a dharmika. That is not the idea. Rather, the point is to keep your rational mind functioning when your own house is burning down. If you can manage to keep your own mind balanced in a dangerous situation, you can resolve that issue in the best way according to circumstances.

Beware of this bogus yoga chart / poster

Namaskar.
Recently, one bogus chart of tantra yoga has been making the rounds on various forums and websites. Indeed it has been pervasively shared. Sadly, those propagating this chart do not realise that it is full of errors and inaccuracies. Here are a few of the many fundamental flaws from this bogus tantra yoga chart.

Bogus
information about cakras

Flaw #1 of Bogus “Tantra Yoga” Chart: The chart wrongly presents that the stage of realisation known as salokya occurs in the manipur cakra.

Comment: Sadguru Baba guides us that salokya occurs at the svadhisthana cakra.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “When by dint of Sádhaná the Kula Kuńd́alini comes to Svádhiśt́hana Cakra, the Sádhaka feels that he himself and Paramátman are in the same world. “Though He is far, yet He is visible. One day I will reach Him.” This is Sálokya Samádhi.” (Subhasita Samgraha - 18, Yoga and Bhakti) (1)

Outcome: Baba’s above teaching proves that the chart’s claim that salokya occurs at the manipur cakra is completely wrong.

Flaw #2 of Bogus “Tantra Yoga” Chart: The chart wrongly presents the practice of asanas as only related with the physical body and the muladhara cakra.

Comment: Sadguru Baba guides us that the practice of asanas is related with all the various cakras and has a profound effect on the mind as well.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The practice of ásanas cures the body’s glandular system of all its maladies and helps the mind to attain balance for spiritual practices.” (Caryacarya -1, Sadhana) (2)

Outcome: Baba’s above teaching proves that the chart’s claim that asanas are only related with the physical body and the muladhara cakra is completely wrong.

Bogus information about sadhana

Flaw #3 of Bogus “Tantra Yoga” Chart:  The chart wrongly presents iishvara pranidhana as part of dhyana, i.e. the 7th limb of astaunga yoga.

Comment: Sadguru Baba guides us that iishvara pranidhana is the 5th point of niyama, i.e. the 2nd limb of astaunga yoga.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In Niyama, the most important item is Iishvara prańidhána.” (A Guide to Human Conduct, Niyama Sadhana) (3)

Outcome: Baba’s above teaching proves that the chart’s claim that iishvara pranidhana is part of dhyana is completely wrong.

Flaw #4 of Bogus “Tantra Yoga” Chart: The chart wrongly presents the lessons of dharana, i.e. tattva dharana & cakra shodhana, as related exclusively with the vishuddha cakra.

Comment: Sadguru Baba teaches us in His sahaja yoga meditation that tattva dharana and cakra shodhana are related with many cakras.

Outcome: Everyone who practices sahaja yoga meditation knows that the chart’s claim that tattva dharana & cakra shodhana are related exclusively with the vishuddha cakra is completely wrong.

Flaw #5 of Bogus “Tantra Yoga” Chart: The chart wrongly presents the shuddhis as the equivalent of pratyahara yoga.

Comment: Sadguru Baba guides us that varńárghyadána - not the shuddhis - is pratyahara yoga.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “In Ananda Marga Sadhana, the method of withdrawing the mind from degrading tendencies, and absorbing oneself in the colour of the Great, is called Pratyáhára Yoga (the yoga of withdrawal) or Varńárghyadána (the offering of colours).” (Subhasita Samgraha - 3, Vibration, Form and Colour) (4)

Outcome: Baba’s above teaching proves how the chart’s claim about the shuddhis is completely wrong. The shuddhis are not even a full-fledged lesson whereas pratyahara is an actual limb of astaunga yoga.

And verily from top to bottom and from side to side, the bogus tantra yoga chart is filled with errors, misleading information, and bogus classifications. Anyone who reads this chart will be completely misguided.

False things propagate in the name of Ananda Marga

The whole chart has been created in the name of Ananda Marga philosophy. So not only is this chart full or flaws, but it is all done in the name of our philosophy. This whole episode is a farce. The chart claims to represent Ananda Marga philosophy, yet the chart itself is full of bogus information that undermines the path, practice, and philosophy of yoga Ananda Marga. It is one thing to make a personal mistake, and another to implicate Ananda Marga philosophy in one’s erroneous approach and spread it all over the internet.

Conclusion

This demonstrates those who created this chart failed to learn even the basics of Ananda Marga philosophy. And other naive and innocent people get allured by the bogus chart and they spread it around without realising that this chart is filled with errors etc. By this way Ananda Marga is also blamed. Sadly new people will form a poor impression of Ananda Marga when they see that even basic errors are rampant on the chart. Even information that one is taught Day 1 in Ananda Marga - i.e. yama and niyama - is wrong. All in all, no one should indulge in such sin by propagating false things in the name of Ananda Marga.

Namaskar,
In Him,

Here below is the faulty chart:

If you cannot read the above bogus chart let us know and we will send you a larger version.

Who created this mess

Now the question is who created this mess - i.e. who made this bogus chart and diluted the teachings of Ananda Marga philosophy. The answer is that we do not know. Please help us find out who is behind this. Here below is a screenprint of the website and by that way you can reach to the source from where this mess began. Superficially it looks like an authentic Ananda Marga website but by their action it is obviously fictitious / illegitimate. You may also remember that this same website [anandamarga(dot)org] prominently features a music video of the dogmatic Hindu fictional goddess Jagatambe, Kali, Durge - where they chant victory to the holy goddess Jagatambe Kali, Durge.
(Note: The website at fault is the one shown below [i.e. anandamarga(dot)org], not the Ananda Marga News Bulletin blog. Rather the News Bulletin blog pointed out the dogma of the Jagatambe video.)

The bogus Tantra Yoga chart should be denounced and removed from all Ananda Marga websites. Thereafter either the chart can be corrected, or, if that is not possible, the chart should be destroyed.

Dirty libertine way is becoming a fad

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The Sanskrit equivalent for marriage is viváha (vi – vah + ghaiṋ): it means, after the ceremony, the man and woman can no longer live as libertines or as irresponsible so-called family people. They have to discharge their full obligations as bharttá and kalatra, responsible husband and responsible wife.”

“Another Sanskrit equivalent for “woman” is nárii, which is feminine gender. But Shiva used the term kalatra, in the neuter; for to her husband a woman is a wife, but to her children and other members of the society, she is as dignified as her male counterpart. So by declaring a married lady to be kalatra, Shiva gave her special status, and addressed her in neuter terms.”

“The liberal meaning of the term viváha is “live one’s life in a new way with a special type of responsibility”. This is the underlying significance of the Shaeva system of marriage.”

“In His life, Shiva Himself married with this commitment. We can say without the least hesitation that Shiva was the first person in this world to marry in the proper sense of the term..” (1)

Note: That which was common 7000 years ago has now again come into vogue: That same disease has become prevalent today. A huge percentage of people around the globe are leading libertine life - especially in the west. They produce children and neglect to take any responsibility. They do not like to be bound in conjugal relations and shoulder the responsibility of helping the child. The ones who suffer the most are the children and the mother. Often such children wind up in foster care - mentally and physically scarred. It is a serious crisis - watch out. Where capitalism is growing that disease will spread. Our duty is to propagate this teaching - if we bring even one libertine onto the path of responsibility then at least to some the problem is solved.

Religious exploiters and AMPS + 4 more

Baba

This email contains five sections:

Religious exploiters and AMPS

Namaskar,
Since ages religious exploiters, priests, mullahs, pujaris, and so-called monks have misguided society. For example, in India, people were indoctrinated into the idea that family people cannot learn higher meditation. Those priests misguided the common mass by giving a false definition of brahmacarya. Similarly, the world over, priests became the middle man between God and the people. To root out this dogma, Ananda Marga ideology has been given. But in our AMPS organisation, the same type of priestocracy dogmas were injected after 1990:
(a) Puppets were made into tattvikas and family acaryas.
(b) The true role of family acaryas was snatched away by group leader. Prior to 1990, all kinds of social ceremonies were conducted by family people / family acaryas, but no longer. And in the past family people were purodhas on top boards, and that too has essentially vanished. There is a litany of other injustices that have put in vogue.

This is the hint that we should be aware of religious cheats - in any religion as well as within the bhagavad dharma of Ananda Marga. That is what Baba is guiding us about in His above teaching.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It is most important for human beings to move in the realm of spirituality, more than in other realms. Human beings should have followed the proper teachings, but unfortunately, previous teachers did not teach us in this way, and that is why there has been such great chaos in the social and psychic spheres.”
“As a result of these improper teachings, many family people have suffered from the inferiority complex that as they were living mundane lives, they were sinners. This sort of idea was firmly implanted in the minds of family people as the result of false propaganda by the opportunistic exploiters, who wanted to protect their vested interests in the spiritual sphere. These exploiters also did not want to disseminate dharma among the masses at all, for they feared that the spread of dharma would undermine their vested interests.”
“But Ananda Marga is for one and all: I wish to disseminate dharma among all.” (1)

In Him,
Visnuma’ya’

The era of animality has gone and divinity has ascended

“Áshár pasará sahasá elo,álor túfán nikat́e elo,..” (Prabhat Samgiita #3644)

Purport:

After ages of gloom & hopelessness, the basket of hope came suddenly - i.e. Parama Purusa, the embodiment of Divine Effulgence, has taken advent;. The cyclone of divine effulgence has come close. His divine effulgence is immense, like a huge mountain covering the entire earth. The whole world is inundated with the flood of divinity.

Today even in remote corners, not even an iota of darkness was left. Not even a tinge of stain remained in anyone's mind. Everyone’s mind has become cleansed and purified. The Supreme Entity, the love personified Parama Purusa with His divine effulgence, has taken advent. He has graciously attracted everyone, and satisfied all their feelings and yearning by the outpouring of love from His heart.

Sadguru Baba blessed those bound and tied up in the deep, dark chasm of cimmerian darkness, and those whose mind had accumulated dogma the size of a mountain. Even they were blessed to open their eyes and look towards the eastern horizon, the rising sun of the dawn, and realize the era of animality was gone and the age of divinity has ascended. Their dogma and staticity vanished away with the advent of the new dawn. All are now basking in His divine grace. Everyone is blessed with the opportunity to look toward that divine radiance.

Baba, the Parama Purusa, with His divine effulgence has come and showered His divine effulgence and graced everyone...

Dogma means no logic but coerced to follow silly things

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “What is dogma? Dogma is also an idea, but there is rigidity of the boundary line. Dogma will not allow you to go beyond the periphery of that boundary line. That is, dogma goes against the fundamental spirit of the human mind.” (1)

Note: Any idea which has a boundary around is a dogma. The sense is that one is not allowed to debate on this idea. Any and all debates are forbidden. For instance, if one religious leader says that the first Sunday of every month one must touch the dog’s tail to get virtue for heaven, then that becomes the rule for that religion. And no one can question it.

Here is another example. A few years ago a discussion was going on about MPD. In trying to defend the existence of mahaprayan, Dada Kalyaneshvarananda responded this is beyond logic and reasoning. By this way, unknowingly he accepted that MPD is a dogma.

How famous dogma of AMPS will die soon

Namaskar,
Ananda Marga philosophy states, "If anybody tries to re-establish an old political, economic or religious theory of two thousand years ago – a theory or ism based on past time, space or person – using whatever type of psychology, sentiment or adroit propaganda, it will not be possible to correlate it with the existing physical waves. Once lost the parallelism between the ism and the physical wave cannot be restored, even if the old mental environment is re-created. We perceive the change not only in the physical wave but also in the mental wave. No amount of scientific effort will make it possible to restore the mental wave of the past.” (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “There was a time when kings were worshipped as the incarnations of God, but today if anybody tries to reintroduce this antiquated practice using psychological propaganda, it will be impossible for people to accept it." (2)

Note: Here are a few examples of Baba's above guideline.

Example of Christian, Islamic, Hindu dogma dying fast

(A) Certain Islamic fundamentalists want to implement 1500 year-old tenets in areas where they presently rule. This is evidenced by their application of the Islamic justice system where they employ antiquated punishments like chopping off a person's hand for stealing and beheading "guilty" persons in public. Such punishments are based on Islamic law. But, no matter how hard they try to implement such cruel laws, it is impossible for them to gain success in this 21st century. The public will never appreciate this.

(B) In the same way, Hindu fundamentalists and those believers of the caste system still want to follow worn-out  / outdated caste distinctions like the use of the sacred hair etc.  But now the general populace is fast giving up caste such divisions and they are not going to follow them again.

(C) Fundamentalist Christians want to implement socially outdated rules of Bible, when already the common people have advanced beyond such codes.

(D) White supremacists want to forcibly impose stale edicts on racial supremacy. But here again the common people are not inclined in this manner.

In all such cases, implementing these outdated doctrines is no longer possible; the general mass will never appreciate such antiquated rules and restrictions. They will never be implemented.

Why is this impossible? Because time, space, and person have changed; that era is gone. That old philosophy is unsuitable for this present era.

That is why life of dogma is short: MPD

Today some are not very elevated so they do not feel the proximity of Sadguru Baba. Theoretically they think that Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji is close, but in the real sense they do not feel that proximity. Theoretically they know that Parama Purusa Baba is everywhere, but practically not. That is why some people appreciate the dogma of MPD (mahaprayan divas) - which means that Baba is gone. They like to go and join this gathering. However, this MPD dogma will not last forever - its days are short-lived. Now people are not elevated, but in the future people will be elevated. Future margiis will feel Baba’s presence always. They will laugh at this MPD dogma and they will not go. It is no different from how nowadays in our human society so many ills are already gone - nobody likes those things. For example, the practice of human sacrifice was very common but now nobody can think to do this. In the past also slavery was prestigious and now it is viewed as inhumane and humiliating - as is the case the with the dogmas of stoning and burning people to death as well as cannibalism. All those old rituals and dogmas are a thing of the past. Similarly the dogma of MPD will vanish like so many outdated dogmas that people used to do.

In Him,
Ranjana’ Ganguli
